Class was hard as could be!!! She thinks this is boot camp and we are only there for her class.
Is under the distinct impression that all students have only one class- HERS! She also manages to make an interesting subject fairly boring, which is too bad
The assignments aren't bad, but she gives a lot and they take a lot of time. If you work for her, she'll work for you.
I chose Track 1 and I felt like I was getting penalized for not doing her group project. Very uncooperative. It's a shame that she is the only one that teaches this class, I wish someone else would.
Class had a LOT of busy work to it, but it wasn't horrible. The teacher, on the other hand, was the worst one I have had in my 4 years. She's very rude and not exactly what I would call teacher material.
I never really had her for any of my classes, however, I was having problems registering for the class and she was a great help. She completely took her time to reply to my e-mails (always on time), and help me with my problem.
There is a ton of work to do and she isn't an objective or understanding teacher. She can be very, very rude and mean at times and so can her teaching assistant.
I had her for the online class. She was really nice and let me turn in a lot of work late, very helpful. The class has a lot of work but I found it enjoyable. If you can do the commmunity service project, do it, it will bring you a lot of joy.
Absolutely wonderful course. Tremendous opportunity to learn from someone who cares about the subject. She's very helpful, easy A if you do the work.
Very rude and unfriendly, lots of mundane busy work.
Extremely rude and her "2nd in command" Linda, is nothing but an annoying "yes man" She's always posting things like "Oh my God Teach, can you believe these people?". She drives me nuts. Though you will do well in this co
Sharon is passionate about her subject, she just has a very pessimstic view on life in my opinion, although her kids are great. There is a lot of busy work for this class. If you take this class, get involved with the party.
I had her for Community Health. The actual course wasn't bad, but the teacher was RUDE! She once told us that it scared her that we were all going into the health field. Encouraging, huh?!
she is very rude and cannot teach.
terrible, they dont get any worse than this. I can't beleive someone so obviously angry and cruel has anything to do with health professions. Did I mention she cant teach?
Wasn't a terribly hard class, but was she was very rude and condecending. I wish I would have learned more about the subject and done less "fun" projects. I truly did not get my money's worth with this class. After taking this, I learned NOTH
I had her in the online version. It was not terribly hard, just time consuming. I thought it was informative and I like doing research. She is brutally honest and if you don't think she'll call you on it. Keep your nose clean and you'll be fine.
She is an absolute %^#@%$. Her TA is just as bad. Very rude. I can't believe she is still teaching at UCF. Very happy I won't have the problem of having her again. She is a poor excuse of a professor.
Unprofessional, disrespectful, sarcastic, and uncooperative. The course work is not too bad but dealing with the professor makes the course unbearable. Her communication skills and instructions are very poor. Has got to be one of the worst professors a
Ms. Douglass's companion, Linda was my group leader. Class is a lot of work. Be prepared! HIV/AIDS is a topic I'm very interested in, but Linda turned me off. She doesn't need to be teaching if she has such a pessimistic, *itchy attitude. Avoid them!!
She is one of the worst teachers that I have ever had. On the very first day someone walked in to class like 5 min. late and she yelled out Jesus Christ. I could not believe it. She is the rudest person I have ever met, and I would not recomend taking her
Pain in the butt. If you do not use the correct format, she will take off 20 points almost. Give me a break!
If u do not like to work do not take this class. U will learn & write alot. She is not to bad u just have to get on her good side& be respectful. She can be intimidating, so be professsional. No test in this class, but alot of research & hw due every fri.
I think the work load was not bad....Her attitude was very poor though. There is no need to be so angry and rude. Her rudeness is quite childish and very unprofessional. She is also not an effective instructor.

The worst professor I've had so far. All the requirements are detailed and fairly easy to do. But Ms. Douglas and her sidekick Linda are so rude, it almost made me drop. Be prepared.
DO all the work. The quizzes are really easy. The work is sort of time consuming. Take it overt the summer if you can less work. If you do all the work you will be fine. She just isnt the best teacher.
Aside from being very rude, she has a warped grading scale.
I learned a lot from this class. Once you get past her rough disposition you can get a lot from this class. Downside is if/when you ask for help, make sure you REALLY need it, she's not a big fan of repeating herself and gets testy.
Yes, you can get something from the class....but in spite of the professor and not because of her. She is detrimental to learning process and should not be in a classroom.
Great class. Found Professor Douglass and Linda to be very helpful. Received an A but had to work for it. All questions were answered. Quick email responses. They also graded all papers quickly.
This class requires a lot of work. She has a very unfair grading system. If you do not do all the work, you will not pass, no matter how many points you have. Her grading system needs to be reviewed because it's not fair at all.
GREAT COURSE. GREAT TEACHERS.
She has quite an attitude, if you need help, talk to Linda! Not enough time given to complete the 3 projects. I think the class was a waste of time, it was not what I expected. I don't think I really learned much! Just do all the work and you'll get an A.
Where is she? Her cronie Linda does all of the grading. Linda is unreasonable and is a smartass to boot. This class is easy but unless you can read her mind, you will do bad on the projects.
I wouldn't be suprised if the instructors had written some of the positive comments here. Notice how they praise themselves and need to disrespect the student. Mrs. Douglass is mad at the world and should not be allowed to come into contact with other people.
This class is very easy if you do the work and try hard. You can get an A as long as you put time into it. Very interesting subject too. Online class is easy and does not take up too much time. There are oppertunities for extra credit too. Take it
Notice that all of the positive comments are about the class. They don’t mention the professor. I would bet that she wrote those herself. The class is easy but the professor is totally rude she is a very angry or unhappy. Don’t take this class if you are sensitive, it will leave you cursing out your
She was not helpful, and did not care about students, do not take her on the internet..Good luck!!(you'll need it)
Online class was extremely difficult because things were so unclear. Don't look for her at office hours either. I wouldn't be suprised if she wrote the good things herself.
A lot of work for on-line classes. However, I passed both with A's. The projects can be time consuming and require some effort. Either class is passable if you do the work. I never had a problem with Douglas. She seemed easy to get along with. However, her assistant Linda is a very sarcastic. I didn
horrible professor, it is a shame that someone like her is allowed to teach....much less be in the health field. She has a horrible attitude. Easy class though.
She's a horrible teacher who shouldn't be teaching this subject. She says she knows everything about HIV, but really knows nothing. There is no physiologic side to her class, no facts or teaching about how the disease works, just the emotional side and whether or not we should teach sex ed in scho
Glad this course does not teach the physiological aspects of HIV. I wanted to learn about the human side and it is doing that. Duh! The name of the course is HIV: A Human Disease.
I had Mrs. Douglas for an online class and it seemed like a project to get an assignment graded. I had a friend in there at the same time and her stuff would be turned in late and graded first. She and her assistant tend to like you better when you share their liberal beliefs.
This course is not entirely www based. You'll have project after project to complete and if your opinion does not agree with her liberal views, you'll get the grade (low) to reflex the deference of view. The class is work, work, and work fashioned to brainwash you to her views. Don't take it!
Took class on the Web. It was A LOT of work. Projects due all the time. I did learn a lot about HIV. Teach was awful at answering questions, she was really disrespectful. She's a grading nazi, I don't think a paper could get 100.If you do all the work, you'll be fine.
not a nice person &very rude to the class and grades very harsh. she doesnt explain exactly what she expects out of an assg. but then grades you badly as though she had told you exactly what to do. Be on her good side, even though it prob. wont help much.
hey everyone.stop complaining. there were no tests, quizzes or textbooks. this was a great class but i had to work for my grade.
I am an honors student, on the deans list, etc. So I am not just a poor student complaining. This woman is a disgrace. She is hateful and disrespectful. I can't believe the way she talks to the class. Looks to find something wrong with every assignment no matter how hard you try to do everything perfect. Do NOT take this class!
I didn't have a bad encounter with this teacher but that's not to say others didn't. The most difficult assignment was the mystery problem. The summer line up was fair, I haven't received my final grade yet, but my main assignments are done & I'm positive that I'll receive an "A." Read & comprehend all work, go to orientation, & you'll be fine.
I have to say this. It is not the class that is the problem but the teacher. You can make an A in this class, it's not that challenging. Dealing with her unprofessional attitude is quite challenging however. The class would be much better if it was just videotaped.
Not a bad class, but the mystery problem got a little ridiculous in how vague she and her assistant (Linda) were on giving hints, (yes or no, that's it). Grades very harshly if you do not meet her many, weird, outlined standards. If you read the text, do the assignments, respond to discussions, and take the easy quizzes, you'll be alright.
Teach was extremely clear on expectations and stuck to them exactly. Orientation is helpful and I recommend it very highly as you will know what you are in for from the start. I never learned as much from any class on any subject EVER. She positively emersed us in the subject matter! It is not an easy A, you definitely must (and can!) earn it.
the class is easy... lots of busy work. the teacher sucks though. she is very mean and unprofessional. if you ask a question she likes to make you feel stupid infront of the whole class.
she is very unprofessional and makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. if you follow her outline of how she wants things set up and do what is asked, you will be fine. neither class was difficult.
Had for an online class. Was clear on expectations. Class was just quizzes and was not all that hard. Honestly didnt learn much.
I took her for HIV/AIDS class and it was very interesting. I learned a great deal. You have to work for your grade (not impossible). Also took her for Community Health (online). You have to read the material in order to make a good grade and do your assignments of course!!! Not hard to make an A or B :)
I took the course online and it was okay. All quizzes were T/F and sometimes the questions were not well worded so it was easy to get them wrong. Besides that it wasn't too bad...until I found out at the end of the semester that she goes on a 92%-100% grade scale...I got a 91.5% and she wouldn't give me the A...
Very unprofessional. Lots of busy work and nit picks your assignments. I would aviod this class.
I took the live section with. You have to work with a group through out the semester and at the end present a chapter in the text. It was not difficult nor easy just real time consuming.Just follow the way that Douuglass wants it and you will be ok. You have to work really hard to make the grade in this class.
She is a good teacher.
Take another professor. Her quizzes are based off of obscure statistics in the textbook, ie "33.2% as opposed to 33.3%" that deter from the grand scheme of knowledge that the chapters present. Gets frustrated very easily with students, and is somewhat rude. A B is no sweat, but getting an A is a task w/ the combo of her quiz format and grade system
This teacher is unprofessional and sometimes rude. Took 50 points off a 300 point assignment for something that she didn't specify in the original assignment. Had to email her for three weeks to get half the points back. Tests were true and false and can be tricky. Have to read the chapters.
I was scared to death to take this class from all that I heard about Douglass. I took it in the summer term and am getting A without that much effort. The tests are easy and there are only two assignments. On-line and in the summer is the way to go with this class.
The Teach, and the group leader were very helpful, and the materials were very straight forward only if you pay close attention to all her directions. They were very helpful, and everything was based on time consuming. I have taken this class in summer online, and it was so much fun.
This is a perfect class to take online during the summer. The tests are true/false, and the questions are very specific. Follow the instructions given at the beginning of the course, and you should be fine.
Her class is easy, but worthless. She is a miserable angry, unprofessional person. The fact that she teaches at UCF show what a bush league school that UCF is. stay away.
This teacher was the worst teacher I ever had. Her assignments are worthless and extremely in depth. Her and her assistant (yes there are two of them) are both rude and nasty. This teacher is not clear on her assignments and expects the world from students. Sad part is by the end of the class I did not learn anything! The class was ridiculous!
This professor is very rude and disrespectful with students. If you have any problems with assignments the prof and her assistant are not helpful at all and then when you put a lot of effort and do your best, they are so harsh on grading you get a 50% score. Don't take this class with this professor!
She is completely unprofessional. She is a horrible teacher and her "assistant" is of no use. I can't see how anyone beside her "assistant" or herself could come here and leave a positive rating! Avoid her at all costs.
She is just an angry mean person. The class isnt that hard and you may actually learn.....in spite of her.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had!! She is mean and rude and her assistant is just the same. It's a shame they took a class that could be interesting (HIV/AIDS) and turned it into a students worst nightmare! Do not take her or any classes that she may teach.!
THE CLASS IS VERY INTERESTING BUT THE PROFESSOR IS HORRIBLE AND MEAN!!!!!!!!! GOD AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS PLEASE DO YOUR BEST COMPLETE ALL ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME AND WITH THE FORMAT SHE REQUIRE SHE IS VERY ANAL ABOUT FORMAT....... IF YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE THIS COURSE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND DONT TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Her online class only consists of weekly quizzes and 2 papers. Very easy course! Overall it was very well organized and manageable with a busy schedule.
On-line class, has a quiz every week on one chapter. 2 assignments. Quizzes and assignments are not hard. Instructor gives alot of extra credit opportunities, you can actually buy extra credit points. Instructor has a liberal agenda tied into her course.
Excellent teacher and group leader. Thoroughly enjoyed the class, well organized.

I do the online class, THE TEACHER IS AWEFUL AND RUDE!!! There is so much busy work and she will not even read it if the margins are off. Cruel is an understatment. I was really looking forward to the class however the work-load is ridiculous. It seems easy until you are doing 2-3 weekly assisgnments that take 3 hours and you recieve a c or d on the
The HIV topic is very interesting. The class consists of too many assignments, modules, and papers. Although, you exceed the paper requirements you still end up with a poor grade. Several hours are spent on research, reading for nothing. Do not take this class if you want to pass, and have a life. No consideration for students efforts. Hard class
Took this course last semester and I am shocked by the comments left. Yes, it was difficult but everything was explained and papers were graded quickly. If you want a life, get out of school.
Forward and to the point. Assignments given are clear and students know what is expected in order to succeed.
skip it skip it skip it. toooooooo much homework. to learn about hiv you the student have to do the research. do not take summer because she is not in ucf at all. rude.
Not the best online professor. Can be rude sometimes. I received a B, you will earn the grade you receive in this class.
Way too much work that was very redundant. Her assistant was very rude to me personally. If you do all the assignments up to her standards (margins headers ect) you will get an ok grade.
she is the meanest teacher i've ever had. basically is mad at anyone who hasn't been infected with hiv. rude, unkind, very angry person, will totally find any reason to give you a bad grade and then tell you you are stupid when she's not even around to teach you. took online and it was a nightmare
ughh.. horrible class. Dont take the on-campus class, is too much time-consuming work every week!! Everything is done in groups and you have to meet outside of class every week, so your grade is dependable on others pretty much..there are a couple of quizzes, !!.. Mean Proff. Take another one, or take her online class if you NEED to!
Is it possible for a teacher to make someone cry over email? Yes. Meanest teacher I have ever had. Avoid her at all costs.
This was one of the worst classes i have ever taken. Her and her assistand are incredibly rude. I hated asking them questions because i would always receive an obnoxious response. Avoid this class if you can. I did not get much better then a C on the papers. There is just a lot of busy work and she is very hard about they format of everything.
I have read the comments and all I can say is that these students did nothing but whine. This was a great class. Yes, I worked but it altered my life. If you want an easy A just because you are breathing, do not take this class.
Very interesting stuff. BUT sadly both the prof and her TA are illiterate, rude, closed minded, etc. WAY TOO MUCH WORK!! The modules were poorly explained, and if you ask them to clarify they blow you off or belittle you. You can get an A, but prepare to work your butt off and hate these 2 women. Worst class I've ever taken.
Where do I begin? She and her little class helper are the rudest instructors I've ever come across. I do not recommend this class to anyone with morals.
We have just begun a new semester here at UCF, but these comments that were made over this teacher are completely ridiculous! These two women are so passionate over the subject matter it is hard not to change your attitude about HIV! It is not an easy A though, they work us, but it is not like uninteresting stuff! It is the most interesting thing!
This teacher and her little helper are some very rude people. There is no reason for them to be so rude when they don't know. Not expecting the class to be easy, it's really not hard at all if you just read the chapter a week for the quiz. And there were only 2 major assignments and she gives you lots of chances for EC. JUST VERY RUDE!!!
This teacher deserves more credit than these rates are giving her. Her and her helper ARE knowledgeable of their subject matter, they just don't enjoy being asked dumb questions. If you use common sense you will do great in this class and really enjoy it - as did I. Just read the chapters, do the assignments and read the discussions - A plus!
The class is not difficult by any means. This is truly a "do your work and you will do well" type of class. Some questions are uneccessary that have been asked by students, but sometimes one can be confused. The instructor and helper say they are short with their answers but they are rude. I would not talk to someone in this manner.
The class is very interesting and pretty easy to take, but the teacher and "Linda" are very rude. Better to just ask a question to a student then them. They will make you look stupid if you ask a question. Otherwise, the class is a breeze.
Teacher and helper are rude and degrading. They each have a special way of purposely making the student feel inadequate. It is possible to have questions in an online class, but for some reason they dont see this logic. Anytime anyone has posted a question, the question is never answered without an added snide remark..completely unnecessary!
Loves to nitpick on questions there may be a word missing and mark you wrong then the next time you catch the missing word and she'll still mark you wrong. her way always goes
This class is actually pretty easy, as long as you don't mind doing a lot of work. The work will help you learn though. I didn't really find the instructor or helper that rude at all. Probably one of the best classes I have ever taken. It really opens up your eyes. Read Surving the Fall for the book assignment. Highly recommend taking this course.
The professor and her helper are a very sarcastic couple. They can come off as rude if you rub them the wrong way. The tests you take are straight out of the book with questions that might have a word changed (and are therefore false). Therefore, the tests are very much careful reading than actual knowledge as the latter would cause you errors.
I took this as an elective to learn about HIV and the psychological issues assoc with it. I was overwhelmed with how many projects and how much work I had to do. This was a very demanding course and I ended up withdrawing from it. Unless you have to take it I wouldn't elect to.
Great class but a lot of work. Both instructors are passionate about their topic and it is obvious. I attended the orientation but not many did and they are probably the ones complaining.
Wow. Before I took this class I looked at the reviews and thought maybe others were exaggerating. I was wrong. Both the professor and the assistant are VERY rude. The work is not that hard as long as you read the book. You have to take her because this class is required for the health program. Prepare for some real attitude! Good Luck.
Worst teacher in history. It's an abomination that UCF continues to let her teach. Avoid this class like the bubonic plaque.
Professor Douglass is the worst educator I have ever come into contact with. Her and her "assistant" are so unnecessarily rude and condescending that I was too scared to ask questions halfway through the course. All they do is nitpick and make snide comments when they don't agree with your opinion. Don't take this class if you don't have to.
I wish I had found out about this website before signing onto this class, because every single word written about how rude and incomprehensible this prof. is are ABSOLUTELY TRUE! You will spend alot of time on projects & assignments only to a get a very poor grade. They should retitle this course to be "Aren't You Guilty You're Not HIV Positive?"
Unfortunately this professor is the only one who teaches this class. It is an easy class just read your chapters and follow directions perfectly. Her assistant is not that bad but don't bother to EVER talk to the teacher... it will be a huge inconvenience for her, and she will let you know it.
Contrary to many posting here the professor and her assistant were wonderful. The class has it's difficulties but if you follow the directions you will be fine. The professor and Linda (assistant) were very helpful and encouraged debate. I would recommend this class for anyone who needs a Health Services class.
I don't understand why people are rating her so bad. I took her HIV class a year ago and I still think about it, it is such a life changing class. She is a little abrasive but stick with it you'll be fine. It's just alot of busy work but I mean how can you complain when majority of the times we were in class you didn't even have to stay the whole t
Great class! I learned the most from this class even though it was online. The teacher and the assistant are kinda rude but stand up for yourself and you'll be fine. Any doubts in your grade, speak up bc they will help. Lots of extra credit available. Very picky so follow directions carefully! Lots of papers!! This class does take a lot of time!
Life-changing! Profs were like Mothers to me. This class is a must b4 getting into healthcare b/c you learn compassion. Lots of chances to learn as much as you want, to fix your mistakes, and you earn every point. Take during summer/light semester-lots of writing!! Some of best profs I've ever had, they're passionate b/c they want to save lives.
Loved the topic, hated the professor. It's a 3 credit elective, but you'd think you're in a 7 credit course for the amount of work. The professor is the most condescending, rude, miserable woman you will probably ever meet. Don't bother asking questions-you're on your own to figure out the CONFUSING and UNCLEAR instructions for assignments.
I actually loved this class...its really hard because of the papers but I learned a lot...
Prof. Douglass is abrasive, but she cares alot about her students and the subject she is teaching. Her sidekick Linda P., whose only purpose is grading papers, is one of the least desirable people I have ever met. She preaches safe sex and then sticks a cancer stick in her mouth. Very hypocritical for a health educator. I didn't learn anything..
overall, the class isn't too hard, quizzes straight from the book. That being said, by far the most rude and brash professor i've ever had. both professor and assistant are condescending whenever you have any sort of question. She also miscalculated my grade and guess who got blamed for it.....
Great class. Lots of work but textbook or quizzes. Glad I did not believe some of the comments left here. Professor Douglass and her adjunct (NOT a TA) are passionate about the topic. You will learn a lot. Not an easy class but do attend the orientation. It'll help. I did and got an A. Fast grading and always answered my questions.
Class great full of info-Lots of work 8 module proj, 9 assign, 2 quizzes and weekly disc. The srvc learning is really involved. Prof is particular about her rules & so is Linda P only diff is Linda is a sarcastic condesencing bleep if u r on her team beware--read & believe reviews. Follow rules to a T & never have questions & u will be ok
Honestly people who work hard will get an A in this class. Dont listen to the comments posted on here Proff. Douglass and Linda are very passionate for the subject. If people would just go to orientation and do the work they wouldnt have sooo many problems!!! This is a college level course work class
Work hard and you will getan A. I would NEVER recommend this class to anyone though. Stupid amount of work online. Wont be so bad once they start recording the classes to replace modules though. Teachers are horribly condesending and so freaking rude! If given the chance to go back, I would not have signed up for this class.
Overall the class is not that bad but the prof. is VERY rude and talks down to all the students in the discussion boards thankfully its only offered online, I would hate to meet her! Read the book for the quizes and its an easy A. For the papers she is extremely picky expect her to tell you how bad you suck even if you get good grade on your work.
Professors are VERY RUDE. But the class is typical of an online course. Just don't pay attention to the profesors.
Worst teacher ever. Rude and inconsiderate! Don't waste your time emailing, they will be very rude towards you! Tests come straight from the book, offers extra credit but it unclear on how to get them. Never taking this teacher again!
I quote her, "...students may think we are ****es..." That is in her introduction to the class! She is extremely rude, BUT...her class is a piece of cake. Their program was cut by UCF, and what a "loss" it will be to the University. I made an A and didn't work hard. The only lesson she really gives is how not to conduct yourself professionally.
Got an A in the class. Not hard at all if you know the material in the book. Douglass is very RUDE as every student realizes, but she is fair with grades and tells you the truth, even if you dont want to hear it. I do not recommend this prof if you are sensitive, but she is the only one for alot of the Health Service Administration courses.
The class itself is easy, if you you do your part as a student. Avoid those teo professors (Linda & Sharon) as much as you possibly can. They are both extremely rude and unprofessional The only feebacks you're likely to receive from them are the negative ones. She deducted one point because my friend spelled her last name with one "S" Becareful!!!
Took HIV/AIDS class. The class would have been more fun and interesting if her and her teaching assistant hadn't nitpicked about every little thing which made the class a real hassel. If you don't like working under extreme detail oriented situation, don't take the class. Even blogging was nitpicked and had so many rules and regulations to follow.
HIV/AIDS class... I learned a lot but HORRIBLE. I am a senior, and this is by far the hardest and most work I have ever had to do for a class! Teach is extremely rude and inconsiderate. The amount of work required is insane. If you enjoy working your butt off every week and being critizied for every little thing, then take it! Otherwise, STAY AWAY!
These teachers are well organized. They give lots of work so be prepared. It is not an easy couse. You work hard for your grade. They can be rude at times, but they just get frustrated when they are asked things that are in the instructions. Its COLLEGE!!! so.. tough luck... GROW UP PEOPLE
This is a very organized online class. Teach and Linda are tough on those who don't pay attention, but if you follow the syllabus you will have no problem. Weekly quizzes and one paper. If you can stay organized, it should be no problem to get an A.
If you need an A I would take this class but it's a lot of writing and the teachers are COMPLETELY RUDE. I asked a teacher what an assignment was and she said I didn't need to do anything for it and that it was just an attendance grade. I found out the next day that I did need to write a paper and she took points off for being tardy!
this class totally killed my GPA she is very critical of written assignments. I would not take her again. take another course instead
Do not take this course. I repeat stay away. In all honesty walking into this classroom your anxiety level rises almost instantaneously. She ****es like all class, the demeanor and tone of her voice is comparable to that of what Satan probably would sound like. trash, they are useless, need to be fired. sorry excuses for humans
This class was truly awesome. You don't get a course like this anywhere else. The assignemts are easy and there is no textbook involved. The service-learning project was amazing and it's something that really makes you want to make a difference in your community.
Don't take her class.Didn't teach a single thing.Class is based on group work so if you have a bad group you?re in trouble.Somewhat tough grader.Answered exactly what she wanted but then she still took points off saying you could have included this. Got a B cause we didn't document that we met out of class;though we did twice a week.EasyB-LuckyA
Class is easy but A LOT OF WORK! Countless hours of tedious BUSY WORK that the prof's nit-pick at. Very inefficient ways of learning. Prof's are both rude and complain about student's spelling/grammar errors when they make the same mistakes all of the time. They are extremely condescending. It's not worth it! Highly recommend taking something else.
This isn't a class- it is a series of subjectively graded HIV awareness projects. Prof. is condescending, rude, and ridiculous. Total waste of time....
Teach is rough around the edges, but you just have to accept it, move past it and you will learn a lot. There are several writing assignments, but she gives you all the topics at the beginning, so don't leave them for last minute! They grade more on grammar and length than actual content, 2-3 pgs, double spaced,14 font so it's pretty easy.
Extremely EVIL professor, and her little sidekick, too. I definitely made a mistake by taking this class. It's too bad because I was really looking forward to Epidemiology! Thanks to the 2 EVIL women who make me dread the subject. They are not afraid to degrade you either. I have NEVER seen a prof speak down to someone one either, in the worst way!
Horrible, horrible, horrible. She is so stingy with all the points that she gives out. Her assignments are extremely long and she takes off for every little thing. She is a grumpy lady who doesn't give you much help at all. Any question you might ask her will be answered with attitude and annoyance. I suggest that no one takes her classes.
may as well be an english class. teach takes off more for grammatical errors than anything else. you WILL lose a point for mispelling words and misusing commas. teach is very straighfoward, but her TA is the absolute worst. she is RUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Both the teacher, and TA, are extremely rude and condescending towards their students. Lord forbid any of us ask a single question without our intelligence being insulted. All in all, stay away from these two people. Their communication skills lack considerably in comparison to their coworkers. Beware!
Contrary to other ratings, Teach (as she likes to be called) is very helpful; however, she does not like to be asked questions that can be answered by reading the syllabus. She truly wants her students to be engaged in the field and encourages community involvement. I'm leaving this class with a wealth of knowledge.
Her HIV class is like constant emotional battery. I suggest you take the class online much easier to take that way. I did learn alot about HIV / AIDS though and I'm better for it. A must class for those on their way to a career in Healthcare.
To be honest, she is not as bad as everyone makes her seem. Everything is straightforward and to the point. You have to read the book to do well on the quizzes and the paper is long but your really just answering questions so its not that hard. She does have a smart mouth but an A or B is highly possible.
'Teach' as she likes to be called, is the most condescending, rude, evil, egotistical teacher in the history of horrible teachers. God forbid you ask a question on something that may be unclear she thoroughly enjoys making you feel like the dumbest individual. needless to say WE pay HER, dont take her class give your money to someone who deserves i
"Teach" isn't as bad as everyone on here makes her out to be. Yeah she can come across as a bit "snippy" but only when people ask questions about things that can be found in the syllabus. Quiz every week and one long project/paper makes up the grade. Questions come directly from the reading and are pretty straight forward.
I bet every single rebuttal to every single complaint is her little helper Linda!!! Condescending, both of them!
I just finished taking her HIV course online and this class has changed my life! If you follow directions, which every moderatly educated college student should be able to do, then you will no doubt get an 'A'. Teach and Linda are both great, and anybody who tells you otherwise are just WRONG! This will be the best class you ever take in college =]
If you are serious about being in Healthcare, take this class. It will change your perspective about life in general and increase your world view. Teach grades submissions almost instantaneously so you have opportunity to correct your errors before another assignment. There course is detailed to the extreme and expectations are clearly explained.
He is so rude and grades hard!!! I dont recommend students to take her but she is the only professor that teaches Community Health. She took out a lot of points on the paper 8 pages!!!
I took her for HIV class(HSC 3593), and I am very glad I did. Teach makes sure that you LEARN actively, not passively, so this can come as a shock at first. But you learn to toughen up. This class will really inform you. Her grading is also very fair. The assignments are time-consuming, but worthwhile. It made me a better researcher. Go for it!
I have no idea why people are writing poor reviews of this professor. Straightforward assignments, the only paper due is really just essay answers to about 30 questions, not a "real paper" at all. Gives out generous Extra Credit. I had a death in the family and missed two quizzes (there are 15) and still got a B without using extra credit.
Class is very doable, as I got an A, but it isn't a regular online course. She and her TA can be very condescending and act as if it's them against the world. Linda :>{ is more negative than Teach though, almost always putting down the students. Lot of work but in the end you really do learn about HIV disease. Attitudes ruined it a bit.
I cant express the level of anger & frustration I have w/ Teach. She is one of the most rude & picky teachers i've ever come across. I have never complained about a teacher & wrote about it on RMP but this women is by far the worst experience i have had in UCF. Your papers that take you 6 hours will be ripped to shreds. I beg you, avoid at all cost
I really like this class, well the class content and set up. Teach is terrible. Her instructions are pretty clear, but if you have even a little question, either her or her assistant will write back a RUDE, SARCASTIC comment. Love the class, hate the teachers.
Very interesting class. Love the knowledge you learn in this class. But as for the Professor named Teach and her assistant Linda. They are very condescending and rude. These two teachers forget that we student pay for this class and that this is not high school. Stay away and spend your money on a different class!
Teach was not that rude, just sarcastic. The most annoying project that you will complete in this class is the Sick Around paper. You will bleed, eat, and dream about that paper for at least 3 weeks. My advice to you: do the extra credit because you will probably FAIL that assignment.
Quiz every week, Paper & a Final Quiz. Class is pretty much easy. Started paper night before it was due, got B+. Lots of extra credit about 150 pts worth. Sharon aka Teach is very helpful though I do agree she can be sarcastic. I have an A in the class. Just read the textbook and you'll be fine.
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is not helpful at all and her class is all based on chapter quizzes and a paper. Her directions are very unclear and the discussion board contradicts everything she puts in her directions because other students are so confused. Stay away if you can!
Online class: TONS of work! 8 assignments (including reading a book and watching 4 movies, writing summaries, volunteering/blogging/chatting), 5 modules, 2 (easy) quizzes, QOTWs each week, attend a panel. Many due Friday! Professors Teach and Linda P are condescending. Do as they say or your grades will suffer. Interesting class, but hard!
Terrible teacher...very rude and disrespectful!
Please save your GPA and do NOT take this professor. This is graduate school level work and for the paper it is extremely tedious and stressful just to get the FORMAT right (she is anal about margins, font placement to the T!!) Never received an ounce of help from her when sought. Stay away!
Teach is a great professor. Yes, she is strict on grading but it makes you work for your grade. Don't take the class if you just want the credit. I recommend taking the class because I learned a lot from teach. It was HARD WORK...but getting that A is worth it! Great class! She made me a better student.
She is pretty good at her job. Her ability to communicate is superior. Her openminededness is limited. Get the info. the way she offers it or suffer. Her grasp of health is high. Her grasp of science-to-human health facts is lacking. She mouthes some facts she does not understand. She allows her cohort to play "bad cop." Prepare to be attacked.
Sharon Douglass is an extremely nasty, condescending woman with a chip on her shoulder. While I have a lot of compassion for suffering people, including Sharon and her family, I find it unnecessary of her to continuously characterize the HIV+ community as being entirely made up of victims. Play the game from her angle and I'm sure you'll pass.
The teacher expects you to read to book and do the work. The work isn't that hard, you just need to participate and use proper grammar and spelling within your work. Her assistant is very opinionated so watch out if you get offended easily. Both seem sarcastic in their comments but it is online so it could be misinterpreted.
This is a great class if you are entering healthcare and want to understand HIV and empathize with those who are HIV positive. The emphasis of the class is understanding the impact of the disease on society and the individual. It is a demanding class, but well worth the time. Go elsewhere if you want an easy 'A' or to be treated like a HS student.
I love Teach ! Yes, she makes you work hard and you are required to READ the textbook. If you want to learn though, I highly recommend this course. It is very possible to get an A, as long as you read thoroughly.
Great class everything thats expected is in the syllabus so if your like the following reviewers below who ask questions already stated you will get a rude reply. There is a quiz every week and final not cumulative. Must read book plus there are a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Rudest teacher I have ever come in contact with. She talks down to everyone no matter what. All she does is tell you how poorly the class is doing and talks to you like your 5 years old. She even told us to act like she was our parent! There were people older than her in my class! She forgets that we are all grown adults and are PAYING to be there.
Incredibly rude teacher. If you want to go to class and have someone put everyone down then this is the class for you. It is an easy class however. Quizzes on each chapter of the book and 4 classes with group work. If you want to actually learn something and not just read a textbook, I suggest you take someone else.
"Teach" comes off very harsh and rude....but don't be afraid to ask for help. She's definitely got your best interest in mind. Don't waste your money on the CD! Even if you miss ONE class, you can't collect the certificate at the end of the semester.
"Life is not an easy A." This quote is posted on her homepage and is the theme for her class. She only has quizzes on every chapter and one final paper. I didn't do any extra credit, got a low B on the final paper (did the night before), and still managed with an A. I also read the chapters right before the quizzes. She's not nice but she is easy.
IF YOU ARE TAKING DEMANDING COURSES DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. IT IS VERY TIME CONSUMING AND SHE IS VERY PICKY WITH WRITING ASSIGNMENTS. I THOUGHT SHE WAS A RUDE BUT SHE IS KIND OFF COOL ONCE YOU MEET HER. I AM A PRE CLINICAL SCIENCE MAJOR AND I GOT A B IN MICROBIOLOGY AND AN A IN BOTH ANATOMY 1 &2 WELL I GOT A C IN THIS CLASS . JESUS DONT TAKE
Douglass is probably the worst professor i have had. Sets unreasonably strict guidelines on how to format and write papers yet still goes out of her way to find flaws. If you ask her for help, she will make you search for the answer. Very condescending and disrespectful. Class was an easy 12 quizzes though but with 2 impossible papers. Have fun.
This is a difficult professor, not because the content of the course is difficult, but because she makes assignments LONG and you can expect to lose points for really dumb things. Like if your spacing is off. The online format is really unclear and the instructions for each assignment are PAGES long.
Very rude and condescending as most others have stated. Her and her assistant love to degrade and vent about the stupidity of their class. Make sure to do the extra credit because she grades really tough on the papers, and if you don't understand the assignment or their instructions, it's your fault always.
WARNING taking this class can cost you your graduation and sanity. If undecided between two majors and Douglas and Potkovic who team teach are your only choices, CHANGE YOUR MAJOR/MINOR and do yourself a big favor. These two should be teaching elementary level instead of college level students because that is how you will be treated.
Class material is really interesting, but there are many written assignments. Our class didn't have quizzes like others have mentioned. I've heard do not take the online version; much more difficult. The assignments aren't hard, just a little time consuming. If you came here to learn, you will be just fine. Ultimately, I'm glad I took this class.
Extremely rude. Talks down on students and shouldn't be a college level professor. Work on the other hand wasn't hard. She grades ridiculously though, taking off loads of points for small formatting "errors". Could have went without her and Linda Potkovic, her sidekick.
yes she can be rude but some students were just asking ridiculously stupid questions. You're in college not high school a professor shouldn't have to spell everything out for you. Do the extra credit and take the time to READ the chapters before taking the quizzes (they're detailed). An A is doable, just do the work and you should be fine.
Teachers are rude and not very helpful, however all the information you need is there you just have to read/search for it. I used the textbook for the quizzes and did very well. Lots of chances for extra credit, which will help because they grade the 2 papers in the class very hard.
The good this class IS Straight forward. Test are directly from the book. Teacher will always communicate clearly on what they want. Truths: the paper in this class did me ulcers, but I got an A. They are matter of fact , welcome to the real world were everything is not done for you. Just do the work Use book 4 test may be a bit blunt get over it
not that bad tests from book.paper was alittle stressful. stay on top of the messages do wht is asked you will be fine. teacher have little time for bs but other than that i thought it was great glad they reigned the lackeys in
Class is split between to teachers not bad paper was alot of work definitely need you book for the test lot of ways for extra credit the can be snippy sometimes not that bad subject matter is very interesting
Teach and Potkovic who teach the together are both extremely harsh and rude. The class assignments are straight forward and there are quizzes on each chapter which are consistent with the text. There is one final paper which is extremely harshly graded, make sure you know how to cite your sources! Class is an easy B, but a lot of effort for an A.
Must use your book your will earn your A test were set to one day one the week only open for 24 hrs so be ready overall way better than i had read
I'm a A student & thought the comments on here were false. Nope all true! Took online, tests from book you need it. Big paper due which is almost half your grade. The instructions on how to do it are in pieces in 3 different places on the website basically hidden. Find all the instructions or you'll fail the paper. Good Luck fellow students!
I was not shy about taking an instructor with poor reviews as I have done this in the past and had no issues. This was the WORST instructor of my college career. Rude, confusing, and plain pretentious. I'm a 4.0 GPA student and was shocked at the attitude of the teacher. Beware and READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS EXTREMELY CAREFULLY!
Rudest and most condescending teacher I've ever had. All throughout the course you must use the textbook to gain any useful information and if you have to ask the teacher a question, be ready to receive a sarcastic and unhelpful response. Should not be teaching at the college level.
This professor is horrible! She makes you feel brainless when you ask a question. Due to this I didn't even want to go to her for help! I honestly couldn't even stand seeing her face on the syllabus because of how rude she can be. Quizzes are easy as long as you read the chapters twice. One major paper with strict APA guidelines required.
This professor is horrible. I wouldn't recommend no one to take her. Taking her quizzes she gives you 25 on a 20 question quiz. That is not easy only because the chapter so long and it so much to remember. THAT IS NOOT ENOUGH TIME!!!!She basically doesn't care. PERIOD!!!! I hope I never have to take her again!!!!! "PRAYING HOPING AND WISHING"
Teach and Linda are the absolute best! I thought their HIV class was just so rewarding, especially at the end you really learn a lot about yourself and thru out the semester you just learn so much! It is a lot of papers but it's so easy to get an A or a B, trust meee it's a great class and they're great people, just don't be late and be respectful!
Hard essay grader, but the quizzes should boost your grade. 20 questions in 30 minutes but they are super easy, and this is coming from someone that never reads, just use the index. This prof recently retired but her sidekick, Linda Potkovic, is a lot like her when it comes to grading. Take it online and spend extra time on the essay. Got an A.
Horrible Professor! She always get slick out the mouth when you ask her any questions. She try to make you feel dumb or stupid. Also her quizzes are 25mins long with 20 questions. NOT ENOUGH TIME! You got to read 7-9 pages for a chapter & she expect you to know/remember everything. NOT FAIR! I wouldnt recommend NO ONE to take her class. PLEASE!
Honestly do not know if I would consider them teachers (Linda Potkovic). They were more like administrators. Rude, sarcastic on any questions asked. Easy quizzes, but very difficult essay assignments. They also award bonus points for raising money for charity.
This HIV Disease course was the best class I ever took at UCF. It was a lot of work I will say that, but it was all worth it. You have a lot of assignments and have to raise money for a service project which was all worth it. Not an easy A, but its an Easy A if you just do the work. There are alot of easy's and assignments every week
This is the Worst Professor Ever!!!!! Rude, Condensing, Sarcastic!! I truly dislike this lady! not enough time to finish the quizzes ,ch are super long, 300pt paper that she grade hard. I work my behind off to get at least a C , but took off so much point on the final paper that I ended up with a 'D'. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!
I don't know how I made an A in this class. This professor is very tough and she doesn't sugarcoat anything. I can safely say this class gave me much anxiety. All that being said, this is one of the most fascinating and enlightening classes I've EVER taken at UCF. It gave me a completely new perspective and made me grateful for my health.
Some people will give a professor a bad review because they were hard, I do not however. I only give bad reviews when a professor is inept or unprofessional. As is reflected in the comments below, this professor is extremely unprofessional.
