good professor exams are fair - she's nice too and very clear
Lovely woman!! If you have to take calculus, take it with her! She is very sweet, patient, takes her time to explain everything, curves tests, and uses good examples. The only way I would ever take another math class, most likely, is if she taught it.
She is a great teacher and is a punderful person
The best teacher that can be...explains everthing explains what is exactly on the test....what else could you ask for!

Very good prof. would definitely take for calculus too, explains problems very clearly and cares a lot about students.
SHE IS AN EXCELLANT TEACHER AND A HOTTIE
You will find no other like this prof. Explains everything in detail. I only wish the prof. was teaching cal. 141-143. I recommend to everyone!
she is a great kid
I had her for both Pre Calc and Calc 151 and she was excellent with both. Clear presentation of material and very helpful.

She is the perfect math teacher, patient, kind, smart, and dedicated to her students. You wont regret taking this class, she drops your lowest grade and gives a review b4 each test. I recieved an A- in the course.
ALL I HAVE TO SAY I WISH SHE WAS TEACHIGN 131, IVE NEVER HAD A TEACHER MAKE ME UNDERSTAND LIEK SHE DOES
She is wonderful, caring, patient, clear, nice and very helpful. I am not very good in mathematics and she has made it very easy for me to understand and in my fist exam I received a 75-personally for me this is fine. I don't stress the grade, I am happy in her class and happy that by the end of the semester my final grade should C, B, A, in MATH
OMG!!!!!!! THE BEST PROFESSOR IN QUEENS COLLEGE....DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO TAKE HER. she is caring, clear, helpful, and does not let you give up. Her exams are extremely fair and she goes over HW every single day every single problems which is a good thing. I wish she taught every math class in QC.
Great
The course is hard so don't think youre going to have it easy. but do whatever you have to do to take her SHE IS THE BEST. Everything in her exams is extremely fair and she is extremely helpful
She is by far the best teacher ever, her patience is overwhelming. I only had for a summer tutorial twice and she encouraged me, and was so happy for me when I finally passed the clas after several attempts. God Bless her.
Great Teacher. Goes over all homework problems on the board and will make sure you understand how to do each and every problem. Tests are very fair and often resemble the material given on the HW's. Very layed back and relaxed. Take her if you want to secure a good grade and actually learn something unlike other teachers.
She is a math ANGEL: patient, accommodating, understanding, fair, thorough, clear in speech and expectations, reasonable on tests(2 of 3 count, final counts 50%;curves rarely) and homeworks(nightly). She revived my faith in Calculus! Come to class, do the homework, ask when unsure, communicate with her when you can't be there, and you'll be fine!
I had her for 110 and 122. She was awesome for both. If you arent very good at math.. take it with her.. she really clears it up.. goes over all hw, 3 tests and a final.. lowest test grade is dropped. curves rarely. she is a full time teacher so she really knows how to teach, unlike some professors. well in plain words.. shes amazing!
Even if you are not an A student, she will clear things up for you. Just simply do the hw assignments(very little compared to other math professors) and attend every class. She will pull up your math average more than a letter grade higher.
very clear and calm
Very clear. Test questions are fair, but grading can be harsh, IMO. Has her slightly cranky days, but no biggie. Tries to be funny sometimes, in a deadpan way.
She is a wonderful teacher, I loved her class. She is a great person, and she tries to make the grade work for you, just make sure you put in the effort. She's honestly, not out to fail anyone unless you don't do the work.
The material is calculus, and thus difficult for many. She is patient and makes things clear. Tests tend to have more questions with asymptotes and infinity than we go into in class.
Prof. E. is excellent, highly recomended. Stellar job in teaching MA142.Currently, only teaches in the 8:10 slot. If you can stay awake, its worth your effort. She reviews every hw problem on the board. Tests are very fair; provides you an outline of all you need to know for the exams - no surprises. 3 tests and final counts 2X drops lowest.
This prof. is awesome. she is calm and she knows her material. drops the lowest grade. gave outline before the test! love her
Seriously one of the best math teachers in the entire department. She is patient, helpful and her tests are FAIR. If you do what you are supposed to than there should be absolutely NO reason to fail her class. I've gotten 90's in her class only because she is great at her job. I REALLY recommend her if you want to actually LEARN calculus.
WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY!!!
it doesnt get better than that. simply the best. love her
Great Professor, she should teach higher math, not just calculus. She knows how to explain calc very simply and her exams really test to see if you've been listening. Calc 3 was so easy with her you really learn a lot. She's down to earth and will help you with any problems u have in class, HIGHLY recommended, take her if you want to succeed lol
She is great.. Makes math so easy and clear to understand.
This professor is amazing!!! I took math 141 with Kramer, and i never understood what he was teaching, Then I took her for math 151, i passed all her exams, she is also very PRETTY and has a great smile, I'll miss this class, take HER definitely if you want a great professor and someone Pretty to look at :) enjoy!
Flawless.
Do not take her if you dont have a strong math back ground. She tend to skip steps when she goes over the HW.
The class was difficult but she finished her course on time and gave us reasonable marks on exams. she did prepare us for final but this was Departmental final so, it's hard final.well she is has very experienced maths background. so I would say take her class if you know algebra well, be positive enjoy taking her class. I enjoyed it.
Calc II is not and never will be an easy subject, but she does an excellent job teaching it. Lectures are as clear as humanly possible, and her midterm questions are very fair. If you have to take this course, then she's the one to sign up for. I could not have asked for a better professor.
She goes over the material too fast. I learned most of the material on my own. She is not reasonable when it comes to grading our tests!!
She explains things very well. Tests are fair. I always got a high 90. She is the best math teacher I've ever had. I'm planning on doing math secondary ed and I hope I can teach math the way she does. She is very nice! She looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt...definite plus. Negative comments are only here because people want to take her themselves.
PROFESSOR ERLBAUM IS GREAT! SHE IS VERY HELPFUL AND MAKES SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE TOPIC. I TOOK HER FOR MATH 151 AND GOT AND A, I AM NOW TAKING HER FOR MATH 152 AND SHE IS GREAT... I REALLY RECOMMEND HER!
Ms. Erlbaum is really good however does not prepare for final... her tests are fair, she gives a review sheet that sample the test and does go a bit fast speed take care if ur good and okay in math she will help you so do not worry
If you dont get math, dont take the class. If you get math, shes the proper teacher. she goes slow and gives review sheets.
Does reviews that look exactly like the Questions on the exams. Study the material and do the study guide and youll be fine
Professor Erlbaum is amazing. Shes clear, goes at a good pace, and best part is, her tests are very similar to the review sheet she provides. You will actually learn in this class and she makes calc much easier! Definitely worth taking her!! (:
She teaches the material at a reasonable pace and reviews often. Her exams are very similar to the reviews so if you keep up with the work you will do fine. She can be a bit aloof but will answer all questions.
had her for math 141, she is amazing. Go to class, do the homework, pay close attention in lecture. It's easy to get distracted because she's so pretty but keep on going
One of the best calc professors in Queens. Everyone told me 152 was the most difficult calc in Queens and I thought it was easy because of how Professor Erlbaum taught it. She's also really nice and extremely fair. Wants her students to do well. Do your homework and go to class and you'll be fine. I highly recommend her!
She has amazingly good teaching skills. Any question you ask gets answered to the point. Take her if you want to have a fine understanding of calculs and also to get a decent grade with ease.
There are no words. Professor Erlbaum is the best professor I ever had at Queens college! She explained everything so clearly and made me love math. I am now a math major! Made the start of calc very easy! Tests are fair and exactly like review sheets! 4 tests (including final) she drops the lowest one.
Professor Erlbaum is absolutely amazing. She explains everything so well. However, you need to have a solid algebra foundation, otherwise you will be lost because she skips much of the algebra steps, and assumes you know how she did things (canceling out, factoring..etc.)4 Tests, exactly like the review sheet, and a final, drops lowest grade.
When the semester is over, you'll realize that you've learned a lot of calculus with ease.
This class was an absolute drag exams are difficult and shes an okay professor but she can be pretty unfair when it comes to her grading
a great teacher who had very clear lectures and makes sure her students know the material. you have to study and do home work in oder to do well but thats every math class. you should for sure take her!
She gives you a practice test two classes before the test, she goes over the practice test the class before the test. The practice test is super similar to the actual test. Her tests are easier than the final so just beware. She drops your lowest test.
Favorite teacher ever! Would take her again in a second!! Lectures are extremely clear, goes over HW, gives review sheets (& goes over it), tests are similar to review sheet, grades tests in your favor. Webassign15% of your grade (6 total), 3 tests + final (counts as 2 tests) and drops lowest grade.
Professor Sharon Erlbaum is awesome.
Throughout the semester, there were a countless number of times where she would make mistakes when teaching, and confuse the entire class. The math is easy, but in a way she makes it harder to understand. Her exams are extremely simple and her reviews help you out quite a lot. In the long run, her exams do not prepare you for the final. Stay away.
LOVE her. Probably the best professor I ever had. Professor Erlbaum is personable, helpful, and it is a clear-cut class - if you want to do well, you most definitely can. No tricks, no curveballs.
She is the best professor that I have met in QC. I took her two semester and would like to take more classes with her if i can. Her teaching style is great she give a review session before the exam which helps you get through her exam, but just beware her in class exams are easier then the final.
After Failing 143 with Kahan I was saved by her! She explains everything so thoroughly and doesn't move on until everyone understands. The WebAssigns are a little involved but its good practice and easy points. Homework is not mandatory but do it for practice. Review session before the exam are very similar to actual test questions
not as good as the points i give her ,she never go over any hard question even it is not hard at all which not prepare you for the final, and you wont learn anything from her. she makes all exams and hw too easy, never learn anything
i love Professor Erlbaum so much. She took her time to help me whenever i had questions. She's just the best for Calculus. Even though i didn't get an A but got A- ,i still lover her. i learnt from my mistakes during the midterms and aced my finals which moved me to A-. i will gladly take her again.
the easiest ever in qc
she's an ok professor not more then that. i left class many times without understanding whats going on so i had to spend some extra time on homework online. She did however try to make life easier towards the finals and she gave extra classes that were helpful. i guess i would take again but only cause i dont know if there's anyone better
Definitely one of the better professors I have had. I would consider myself math handicapped but I still managed to do pretty well... The final was more difficult than her own tests, so that's something to be aware of.
very fair professor.
She really wants her students to do well. She will always stop for questions and goes at a great pace. Super clear in lecture as she gets straight to the point without heavy notation nor proof methods. She will review all homework in class and it is in your best interest to do it. Super similar review sheet to the test. Highly recommend
Really FAIR professor. Tests are okay. She makes sure we understand the topic, BUT going over the hw saps your energy so hard so it's hard to stay awake. I recommend she starts her lecture first to ensure we learn new content before going over hw. Our HW is graded through WebAssign..
I'll start by admitting I'm not strong at math. But whatever I've learned this semester has been through school tutoring and khan academy. She moves ludicrously fast through lessons, and tests are unforgiving. For October, we had 3 classes, just 3,due to holidays and 2 cancelled classes;yet we were expected to learn 5 new subjects for Nov. test
great teacher
This teacher was highly recommended to me but I don't think she spends enough time explaining things and only really goes over example in the homework. You are graded by very few things and her tests have few questions on them so they are each worth a lot of points. She does give review sheets though before tests.
Prof Erlbaum is AMAZING! She assigns nightly homework but if u dont do it there is no penalty. She goes over the homework in the beginning of class. She goes at a slow rate to make sure everyone understands. She Preps you SOO WELL FOR TESTS. Her reviews are almost exactly like the actual tests. Go to the review class for the final and youre set!
I thought I am brain dead when it comes to math. Dr. Erlbaum however, demonstrated that I simply was unlucky with my previous profs. She explains the material fairly well, but be sure to visit a tutor when it gets to harder topics. Her h/w is helpful and she preps you well for the final. I highly recommend her to anyone who doubts their abilities.
beast
Professor is awesome! you will learn alot! she is very clear and goes over homework. If you go to class and write everything down that she does and go over it as well as the hw you will be fine for the test! the test are a bit harder in a sense that she will add trig and stuff to it, but honestly its nothing hard.
Prof. Erlbaum is one of the greatest professors I have ever come across. She taught in such a clear and precise manner, making the toughest parts of Calculus understandable. If you doubt your ability in math, take her, she will make the subject so simple for you (of course you will have put in effort too!) Highly recommend her. Drops the lowest test.
Drops the lowest test. Never went to class and did pretty well on the tests. However, be aware that the final is substantially harder than her in class tests.
I swear by this professor! She goes over all the homework, so the practice really helps out. She does move at a fast pace, but everything she writes is neat and extremely clear. She is always asking if we have questions, so dont be afraid to ask. I took her for 141 and Im super excited to take her again in 143 this fall!!!
She goes over every problem in detail to make sure you understand what's going on. She's pretty straightforward on what you need to know.
AMAZING professor!! She really cares and makes sure everyone understands the material. Do not hesitate to stop and ask questions as the material will get complicated. She is very clear in her lectures, so definitely attend class.
eh not much to say, shes alright
I Literally fought to be in this professors class and it was so worth it. Professor Erlbaum is one the best professors I have come across at Qc. She goes over homework to make sure you understand. She gives a review sheet for the test and goes over it in class and it is the same exact thing as the test. I can't wait to take her 142 class !
This is a calculus class, so it isn't easy and you have to go to class to know what you're doing. Professor Erlbaum, however, is a great professor. She does go a little fast, but she is very good at explaining the information. She is a very lenient grader and doesn't want you to fail. She even comes in on a Sunday before the final to review.
Professor Erlbaum is very kind and a great lecturer. She makes the challenging course material as clear as possible and truly wants you to do well. Grading is based on online HW, 3 exams, and a final. The HW and 3 exams are relatively easy, but the final is much harder. Put some effort in and you will get an A- or A. Would love to take her again.
She is a great professor, and ensures everyone understands the material. She will try her best to make sure you do well in her class. Her class doesn't drag on, and she teaches very well. She is very kind and understanding. She drops your lowest test score. Assigns HW every night, but very helpful if you do it. I would definitely take her again!
One of the best Professors I've had. Loved her class, and the way she taught. Very helpful. Her fashion sense is A1!
she's nice but she goes hella fast, and the way she explains answers is okay, not great because my 141 professor would break down everything and won't move on till everyone gets it, but she seems like she's in a rush 24/7
Good professor who gives thorough reviews, excellent lectures. The course has very difficult subject matter so if she is terse in response to questions, dont feel discouraged to ask for further explanation. Chances are, someone else feels the same way. This is your career, not grade school.
Had her for math141 and 142, amazing prof! Reviews everything and goes Over homework and prepares very well for all her exams and the departmental final!
Absolutely outstanding. This is a woman who not only loves and cares about her job, she is a woman who is amazing at her job. If you can take her, for the love of God, do it for your own good. I will and would absolutely vouch for her extraordinary teaching abilities.
Shes alright. Counts three exams and a final. Best believe you do well on your in class exams. She drops one test too. Good luck!
Shes very good, but she started going kind of fast. I had her for two semesters different calc classes. The first one she was excellent, but in the second one she became a bit fast and was hard to follow for the exams. She is good tho. Also she drops and exam, which is helpful. But if you dont like quick profs then dont take her.
Shes very nice and approachable. However heavy grading as followed: 85% Exams (3 in class and one final) So if you did bad in either the final or an in-class exam, she drops that. 15% is web assign. Make sure you speak to her before every exam so she can help. I had her for the calc series and shes a decent lecturer.
One of the few professors who can actually teach in this college, three exams and one departmental final. Make sure you go to the lectures, or else you will get lost. Gives review session one week before exams, a must go, because they are very helpful. And do the webassign HW, they are 15% of your grade, don't miss it.
She knows her stuff and more importantly knows how to explain things in a way that makes sense. I took her 3 semesters in a row and enjoyed every bit of them. Her classes fill up very quickly tho, you gotta be on the lookout to get in. Sometimes when the class shows full on cunyfirst, go to the Math dept they sometimes put you in. She's the BEST!!
Prof Erlbaum is AWESOME! She is a phenomenal lecturer and explains complex problems in an understandable way. I took 141 with a diff professor and went to Math lab every week- not with Prof Erlbaum! She makes sure every student understand the material CLEARLY before moving on! TAKE HER!
AMAZING AMAZING PROFESSOR! Lectures were so clear and she explained everything so well! Tests were very similar to her review sheets and she really did not try to trick people at all. She was also amazing with the switch to online learning and her online teaching was just as clear and amazing as it was in person!
This is the best math professor out there. While i was taking her class i didnt realize how amazing she was at explaining until I had a different professor for math 152. I didnt realize how much it helped that she went over each and every homework problem in class. If you have the opportunity to take her you wont regret it.
What an amazing, amazing human being man! So caring, and hardworking. I would have taken her every semester If I could've.
Professor Erlbaum may come across as easy, but she's merciless. The grade you earn is the grade you get. There's not much of a buffer and at times, she was unclear about the material on the exam and I wound up studying for things that were unimportant. Easy exams only if you've studied. Her wardrobe is distracting, yet a major eyesore.
Thorough professor who really knows their stuff. Sometimes she goes by the lesson so quick, so be prepared to review the lesson again on your own. She does record lectures and posts them for you to watch again though.
Professor Sharon Erlbaum provide s review sheet for the exams to gain confidence and give good feedback. Also, she also explains the concepts very throughly.
This professor doesn't do anything to add to the stress level. Specially her reviews before tests, which are super helpful. She is also very lenient with grading and deadlines! One con is that she may go through materials really quickly unless you stop her then she will gladly help you.
Very kind and simple professor! 3 Exams + 1 Final 85% of grade and WebAssign HW 15% of grade. Makes it very easy for the student to do well. Gives a review sheet and goes over it before EVERY exam. Looks to give you a lot of partial credit. Drops lowest test grade. Very accessible outside of class. Easy class if you study and not cram for tests.
To make it short for you, just take her guys. You won't find a better calc professor in this college. She gives you a review sheet before the exam that looks very similar to the exam and she goes over it before the exam with you.
Only grades by the homeworks and test pretty much. Homeworks (webassign and textbook) are sometimes hard. Only thing that matters are the test. There are 3 exams and an optional final. If you take the final she will drop the lowest test grade. She gives a review sheet before each exams which help a lot but you have to practice more than just those.
Really good professor! Her lectures are pretty straightforward. If you don't understand, don't worry she'll explain again and much clearer. There are 3 exams and a final, she'll drop the lowest grade and gives extra credit. Web-assign is given but not so much, and practice problems. Really good professor.
The best calc professor in the college, explains topics well (though sometimes skips crucial steps), offers extra credit (in 143), drops lowest grade and is a very lenient grader. If math isn't your best subject Id recommend taking her. Even though she is a great professor, doesn't mean this class is easy, you must study a lot (its calculus).
Shes really great to be honest. Her class consists of 3 exams and one final but she either drop your lowest score or counts the final once, whichever gets you the highest grade. She also is great at explaining hard concepts so if youre not that good at math Id recommend taking her.
If you have no experience in calc, do not take her. She expects you to know stuff from precalc, but pre calc is nothing like calc in my opinion.
There’s a reason she is one of the most (if not, then the most) popular calculus professors and her classes are always full. Professor Erlbaum explains all of her steps and how to approach and do a problem. She is straightforward and informative, her tests will cover everything you learn straight out of her lectures. Made me love math :)
Professor Erlbaum is so straight foward and easy to talk too. Her teaching style is amazing! you could ask her the silliest math question and she doesnt make you feel stupid. She is great at what she does. Counts the homework for 15% of your grade. Drops the lowest test grade or only makes the final count once. A bit of a fast talker though.
Please do not take her if you want to boost your GPA. She is a tough grader and didn't curve at all.
The criteria were adequate, but the professor made it more difficult than necessary. some ratings saying she's good because they were ONLINE.
Professor Erlbaum is an amazing professor for calculus. She teaches very well and cares about her students understanding of the material. She gives 3 tests, counts the final twice, drops the lowest grade, and gives extra credit! This isn't an easy class, so show up and do all the homework she assigns.
She is definitely not a bad teacher, but should not be this highly rated, 4.0 seems reasonable. If your math foundation is weak I don't recommend her since she typically skips steps while showing work, assuming that you would know and she is a fast speaker/teacher so by the time you finish copying the work from the board she's moved onto another Q
This professor is very understanding. There are four tests a semester, including the final. She drops the lowest test score. Her work is very clear and detailed and she is always willing to help. If you follow her and do the hw and the review sheet, there should be no reason why you shouldn't pass. All she needs is a passing test grade.
When doing examples in class, she tends to do them all by herself. She writes random numbers on the board for some of them and doesn't explain when and how she got them. When a student asks, she gives an attitude as if we were supposed to know. So get ready to study a lot of the material independently because she isn't that much help.
Best math professor in QC, she know how to teach and make things essay to understand. If you have any questions you can email her, and she will respond immediately. Less homework, 3 exams, 1 final. Study hard then you can pass!
the online math prof where I could clearly understand everything. absolutely great
Professor Erlbaum was great. She is excellent at explaining difficult concepts, and she was accessible during office hours.
Probably the best calc prof qc has. As long as you come to class, take notes, then study you're gonna do well on the tests. Online hw that is very easy as well. Amazing prof definitely take her
I do think her high rating may be a bit inflated because of online. If your math foundation is weak, I would not recommend her course. she tended to do all the examples in class by themselves without much explanation, leaving students to figure out the process on their own. This can be frustrating for students who are struggling with the material.
Took her for 141 and 142. B in 141 , A+ in 142 and taking her for 143. No one can explain math topics like her tbh. She's rated 5/5 for a reason. Her 3 Exams are pretty easy and identical to the review sheet. However, the course is very difficult and she goes really fast. You need to be on top of your work if you want to pass.
The best! Her lectures were so easy to follow and super informative. Show up to class and review your notes before exams. I would 100% take her again
3 test, 1 final, final was weighed twice, and she dropped one of the 4. She goes through the topic quickly, so it is up to you to do the studying on your own to stay on track. She takes time to answer all student's questions. Her review sheets are identical to the test but with different numbers so study the review sheet and you'll pass no problem
Take this professor for calc! She truly wants you to do well and she is very understanding. She teaches math very well and breaks it down for you so it is not overwhelming. 3 exams and a final, drops your lowest test score. Her exams are like her review sheet there are no surprises. Attend all lecs if you want to pass the class, you need the info.

Erlbaum's lectures were always extremely easy to follow and she was always open to answering questions. She was also a very fast grader and showed a lot of leniency when grading. Her review sheets were usually almost identical to the actual exams and she made the class very easy to pass. Overall, she was one of the best professors I ever took. GOAT
Professor Erlbaum is really the best. She is very good at teaching, if you are struggling with math and calculus you should definitely take her. I had taken other professors that were horrible compared to Erlbaum. She explains everything perfectly. Took 3 exams, review sheets given before the exams that were super helpful. The best professor
By far the best Math professor I have ever had. If I needed another math course I would take her over and over. She presents such a hard course in the easiest way possible. She gives out 3 tests and 1 departmental final (lowest gets dropped). Online HW which is like 15 percent of your grade and in-person HW which is optional. TAKE HER TAKE HER
Attendance may not be mandatory but this is a math class, if you miss the class, you'll be lost on what's happening, just don't skip. She's a very fast and fair grader and she tries to give you flexibility on when the test day will be. She goes over everything very clearly and makes it very easy to understand. I would love to take her again.
probably the best option for calc 1 and calc 2 at qc, shes kind, fair grader and truly tries to teach you
I took her for 142 and 143 and got a A- and B+ in her class. She does go through the material pretty fast so if you miss a day you may get lost but overall she is a fair grader. She gives review sheets before her tests, make sure to study those as it is really helpful, everything on the test is expected nothing new You have to purchase the textbook
best math professor for calc. Her review sheets are exactly like the tests. Theres 3 tests, 1 final, and like 6-7 hws online. She teaches fast so don't miss a day. Calc is a hard course in general so you will have to put in work and study a lot.
She's super understanding and nice. She has a really strong grasp of how to teach hard concepts and makes it really easy to remember. Tests were straightforward and homework wasn't that much or hard. She grades things extremely quickly and returns it and lets you take pictures of the answer keys. Def 10/10 recommend for calc if you want to pass!!
Second calc class I've taken with her, got both As! Prof Erlbaum is such a good teacher. I redo all classwork questions and the review sheets for both the final and class exams and I'm able to score 90+ on each exam! Attend lecture because those problems are REALLY helpful when studying. 10/10! Recommend!
Clear and detailed lectures. She does have a habit of talking down to students and plays favorites with students who participate more than otherrs. She is a bit overrated on RMP, but she is a good math educator. She's always available during office hours.
I wish I had a good experience like the other raters, but I didn't. For a simple yes or no question I was berated, belittled, and embarrassed in front of my peers. It was so awful I would not wish this experience to any student. It is clear she favors a certain type of person. Unfortunately for me, I do not fall in that group. I was humiliated.
Dr. Erlbaum is one of the best calc professors that I have ever had. I took her class when I was a senior in high school, and she is extremely caring, understanding, and thorough. Webassigns are graded hw's, but she also gives hw from the textbook that you can practice from. Tests are almost exactly like the test practice she gives. Take her!!
I'm re-taking Math142 with Prof. Tony Wen- he explains difficult topics through simple terms (he is VERY helpful and genuine). Being a prof. doesn't mean you are above your students, and you are not entitled to respect. This is not high school- you talking to adult students. I genuinely felt uncomfortable in her class with her entitled energy.
Professor Erlbaum is a great math teacher. Her review sheets are nearly identical to the exams, so studying them is key. Attendance is a must, as she covers important concepts quickly. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice and prep alongside the review sheets.
She helped me understand topics that I never was able to get for years since she's so simple and direct with how she teaches. Most of your grade is dependent on your midterm (3) and the final. She also gives HW and some quizzes at the beginning of the semester. I needed to practice outside of hw to get above 95+ tho.
Best choice for calculus. I had her for 142 and 143. Shes straightforward and quick with teaching. Her practice exams are exactly like her tests and she goes over everything. Few homeworks and 3 tests plus a final. Lowest test grade is dropped if you do better on the final. 143 is a hard course so you have to put effort into this course. Take her
1000% the best calc prof at QC. Taught us exactly what we needed to know and did not take any crazy paths to get us there. Told us what we needed and didnt say anything about what we didn't. Can be a little blunt sometimes but fluffiness can only get you so far. 100% take her if you have the chance!
Prof. Erlbaum is straightforward, knowledgeable, and clearly outlines how to prepare for her three exams and the final, which are very similar. Online homework is minimal, with ungraded paper homework for review. She teaches topics efficiently and quickly. Highly recommended if you're looking for a good Calculus grade.
She is honestly one of the best math professors I have ever had at QC. She takes her time and is great at explaining concepts during lectures. I will highly recommend practicing outside of class (other than homework) which is key to passing the course. I hope to have her for one of my other math courses.
Great Professor, lenient, and helpful.
Professor Erlbaum has my respect. Not sure why people say she's rude—she's nice. She has some attitude, but it's just her personality, never disrespectful. Three in-class exams and a final. Gives generous partial credit, and makes life easy. A bit fast-paced but clear asl. Know basic algebra (factoring, difference quotients) and you'll be fine.
I wouldn't recommend her as this class was too heavy, tons of hw, quizzes, and tests are VERY hard. This class was very intense and she keeps talking the whole class, can't clearly teach and herself makes mistakes then marks you wrong if you do that in test. Her teaching was also confusing making simple things harder.
Don't go with these good reviews. I also fell in this trap and ended up ruining my GPA. there're lots of good prof for this course. don't just take this ridiculously test heavy, super hard grading class!
85% exams (lowest dropped), 15% WebAssign, lectures well, makes mistakes as any human does, and cracks jokes sometimes. Lenient grading on exams, but that means no curve. Pretty hard to fail if you attend class and put in the work (homework, studying a few hours.) Easy to do well in, not like some other professors who are out to get you.
3 exams, lowest dropped if you do well on the final, which will count as double and webassign hw. She wants you to know the material and will repeat herself if you get confused, dont be afraid to ask. She makes mistake, its normal, but she is well worth taking.
Great professor if you're willing to put in the work!!
I wrote a review for when I took her for 141, and now 142 and nothing has changed. SHE IS THE BEST CALC PROF IN QC. You just gotta work hard and do her nightly homework and you will do just fine in the course. Her review sheets are helpful to gauge what you still need help with for studying, they won't be the exact same.
Her lectures are clear, engaging, and well-structured. She takes the time to explain concepts thoroughly and will go over examples multiple times if needed to ensure everyone understands.
She's a professor who does what professors are meant to do (teach), and she does it very well. Her explanations are direct. If you generally struggle in math and have to take calculus I and II for your major, then go for her. Her explanations are direct and outside of class, she communicates well. Left me feeling confident about my math skills.
Prof. Erlbaum is the best calc professor you can have. Very accessible after class (office hours), just make an appt. She sometimes can sound like she has an attitude, but it's just her personality (nothing personal). Knows calculus like the back of her hand. Exams are straight forward and just like the review sheets. Study and you'll do well.
Took her in 141 and now 142, Professor Erlbaum is easily the best Calc professor. Makes life easy, does not grade harshly, and lectures are great. Super clear and does not hesitate to answer questions. Same grading policy as 141. 3 in-class exams, each 20% and a final, 25%. Webassign homework is 15%. She also does review sessions before each exam.
From 141 to 142 and still the same structure. Three exams and the dept final and webassign hws. Put effort, do the hws and practice alot. Your guaranteed to pass this course with the way she teaches, she makes everything clear and will repeat herself over and over till you understand.
She's the best at QC when it comes to calc. She knows math like the back of her hand and she's amazing at teaching it even for me who struggles with math. Only 3 exams and a final with minimal homework. Honestly do the practice HW questions she assigns and keep up with webassign and you'll be fine.
