Her lectures are good and organized different from the exams. You need to understand the concepts 100%, not the type of problems demonstrated or assigned. If you make an error she takes off alot of points. She reminds me of a junior high teacher!

The really struggled in the last pre-calc test I took. In her class I understood everything perfectly and got an A. I'm much less afraid to take calculus now. She's very good and making everything understood. If you're math-phobic I'd definitely recommend her.

Sharon has to be one of the nicest teachers who goes out of her way to help you understand Algebra. She is encouraging and very knowledgeable (and, I don't like math at all). Awesome teacher!!!

I took Sharon Giles Math 90 Intermediate Algerbra class at San Diego State Fall 2000. It was a sat class that was 4.5 hours long. If it wasn't for Giles excellent teaching skills I would have dropped her class immediately. She is a very brillaint instructor and Grossmont College is lucky to have a dedicated, extermely knowledgeable instructor.

I took giles for Business Calculus, and math is not my strong point. I came out of the class with a high A! She is a wonderful teacher, explains everything thoroughly. Don't get me wrong, the tests are comprehensive, and time must be spent outside of class, but she's the one to take!

Sharon Giles is a very good instructor. She clearly explains the subject matter. She is also quite personable. My only (minor) complaint is that she could be a little more thorough in explaining the "why" as well as the "how". That said I highly recommend her!

Sharon is great. She gives clear notes, and you may use them on most tests. Keep up on HW, make sure you have a TI-83 and you should do fine. I am an idiot in math, if I passed you can too!

She has a way to make math understandable, where no one else has succeeded for me. She gives xtra credit, and makes sure you REALLY get it. Uses class time well, even for a 2 hour class. Plus she's not hard on the eyes...just do the homework and you will do great.

She is one the BEST math teachers I've had. She explains things clearly, very organized, uses class time wisely, she also makes sure you understand the subject. Constantly gives extra credit points. Her test are not bad if you keep up with homework and study. I recommend her to anybody. I just wish she taught Math 180 too.

She's very sweet and helpful. The homework assignments are small and she gives you a long time to do them before you have to turn them in. You also get to use your notes for the tests, just make sure that they are very organized so you can pass them. She even gives you little tickets called "Giles points" for extra points. woo hoo!

easiest prof EVER!! gives handouts for notes, just have to fill in, can use notes and sample tests on real exam, there is homework...have to do it online, but is not due until the exam. highly recommend if you're not a math person.

Best teacher for math 178. Took hybrid course/ online + once a week lecture, spring 2008. 6 online hw, 6 hw's from book and 3 exams + final. gave extra credit project and on exams. lectures = very clear and easy. got an A

Easy online class. All homework and book is internet based. Plenty of time for assignments. Hard to communicate with her through e-mail. I either never received a response or it was 1-2 weeks after I had contacted her.

Best Teacher! Ms. Giles is super organized, gives pre-printed notes and is very clear on what will be on the test. Don't bother getting the text, she doesn't use it. Homework is done through Mymathlab. I was really worried about taking a Calc class as I had not taken a math class in years. However, this has turned out to be my favorite class.

I took the Online Math103, but had to go in person for the Midterm & Final. The online weekly homework & quizes was a must to do. I got 100% on all of the hw's & quizes. Also, got C's on d midterm & final, but got a "B" in the class. The final was hard, but Sharon gave examples before the final exam. Online is good, as long as you're dedicated!

Online summer course. No need for the text, used Math Zone for all work. Even with the study guide I found the On campus final to be hard. All in all a good teacher.

First, let me say that I HATE math with a fiery passion. After taking it from her, though, I'm sort of okay with it. She's sweet, helpful, and fair when it comes to grades. I was right on the cusp of a C and B before the final, but after seeing how hard I studied, she bumped me up to a B. Definitely take her class!

She totally changed my viewpoint about Math because I hated math in high school. Now, I cannot get enough of it. She does not require the use of textbook. She prefers Mymathlab, which is so much more helpful. She's super sweet and motherly.

online class is awesome! I was never that great at math but the MyMathLab online was very useful and helpful because everything is there that you need. Giles is good and clear and is a straight forward teacher as for what she expects. Do the work and its easy to get a good grade and learn everything you need to!

Just make sure to double check all of your answers on your exams. Make sure if it says "round to 3 decimals" you round to 3 decimals or else you lose serious points!

Seriously the best math teacher i have ever had! It's hard to find professors like this in college. Has her own workbook that helps so much. Just make sure you attend all the classes and you will get an easy A. Received over 100% on almost every exam with very little studying.

She is a great teacher, with great techniques to help you pass. Group Worksheets every period for easy points, Test review sheet with answers b4 tests. She hands out packets with what she is going to go over for easy reference. I have attempted to take this class 2x and she is the first to have a fail proof plan that works! Definitely worth taking!

Sharon is a wonderful teacher. Her failproof study guides for exams are amazing!Very low drop rate though. No matter what age you are, you can Ace her class. Loved learning from her! Mymathlab is required though, but its really easy.Tutoring is available in the tech mall as well. Hw, in class assignments, and exams are the meat of your grade.

Best way to take Algebra. MyMathLab program is very user friendly. Most work online, with mid-term and final on-campus. These followed closely the practice tests she posts on her web site. Virtually stress free and you'll learn what you need to learn. Online work counts for 45% of your grade, final (35%) and mid-term (25%).

I'd failed Statistics twice already and I still didn't understand the subject before taking her class. With Ms. Giles, I'm passing with a solid A! I took math 160 over summer and I was expecting to fail. I was told statistics was really hard, and if you had a bad professor, you would, defininetly, not pass. I've taken Professor Giles for two semesters now and the only thing I'm upset about is that she doesn't teach 176 and further. Her tests are clear, based right off her equally amazing lecture notes. She even gives real examples of how to apply what we are learning to real life. It was my favorite class this semester, but then again I adore math.

Professor S Giles is awesome! I loved her stats class and that's coming from someone who has extreme math anxiety, as well as learning disabilities. I'm at state now taking a statistical research class, wishing I still had her math booklet where she puts mathematical vocabulary into everyday terms, formulas you still have to study everyday!

Sharon is clear, reasonable, and on top of that she is a complete sweetheart! She moves through the material slowly and makes time for any questions. So for my math 110 class we used black board for homework only. This was the only negative thing about the class. I never got discouraged in her math class. She really explained things at a nice rate and made sure that the whole class understood it. She encouraged us to ask questions in class. But most didn't, she is that good.

Math is not my strong suit. I struggle immensely when it comes to Algebra. Mrs. Giles presented her class in such a clear and simple way that I was FINALLY able to understand how and why Algebra works and how to use it. I recommend her for any math class you take.

I took Sharon Giles intercession (3 week) College Algebra class online recently and I have to say by far the best math teacher I have ever been taught by. I'm not even that strong in math but she teaches in a way that even a small child could follow. Strongly recommend her for an intercession or regular semester math class.

Professor Giles is AMAZING. I failed calculus before and then took her and got an A. Now I actually enjoy calc. Such clear and patient teacher. Best math teacher I've ever had. Reviews are exactly likes tests.

Great professor. No nonsense or unnecessarily hard material and has chapter reviews that actually has problems similar to the test. From a person that had two previous Math 178 classes (& professors) and failed them both, math is hard, but it is her way of teaching and review material is what made this class great and understandable.

Wish there were more like her. I took her online class and it wasn't so hard as long as you do the work. 2 exams mid term and final at school. quiz and homework each week and those are your grades. she replies quick for an email. she's on top of everything. Take her class you will learn.

I took Intermediate Algebra with Prof. Giles and got a B with only studying from the homework and the handouts for the exams, not that it was easy, but because she explains everything clearly and carefully. Paying attention is extremely vital to be able to do well. If she were teaching Calculus, I would take her over any of the other professors.

Prof Giles was a great stats teacher. She prepares packets of notes for each chapter and you follow along on the projector. I should add that she has the most beautiful hand-writing I have ever seen. She is also very responsive to emails and will answer your questions quickly.

@ SDSU. This subject is hard, but she is a good teacher overall, and gives out some great study guides. Beware that the final is a department final that she did not create, so do well on everything up until that point and you should be fine. Grades on curves and gives out extra points if you go to her office to discuss tests. I recommend.

I took this class at SDSU and she was by far my favorite professor yet. This is a tough class and she made it easier to understand. She put out study guides before every test so you know exactly what to study for the exams. She really cares for her students and will stop the lecture to answer questions. 10/10 would recommend.

Awesome teacher, had homeworks on mathlab and there were two test we took at the school, but the study guide offered ensured an easy A as long as you knew how to do everything on the study guide. I am really bad at math but this class was so easy if you did all the work.

Love Ms. Giles she is very easy to understand and she takes you through the course step by step. I have excelled in this class and almost get bored cause once she teaches it you know it. But she goes at the pace of the slowest person there. Her test are easy if you do the online homework before the test. Bit of a stickler for the attendance though.

She definitely cares about her students education and wants to see everyone get a good grade. She gives a study guide before each exam and will answer any questions during lecture. Homework is online and due once every week. Attendance is mandatory for your breakout session and counts towards your grade.

This was my second time taking math 103. Professor Giles really knows how to teach. I suck at math but she made it easy to understand by far the best math teacher I have taken in my life. Do well on the exams and finish homework online. The homework program is a bit expensive no way to get around it.

Havent taken a math class in 10 yrs so was nervous. But she made the material seem so easy. She explained concepts so well. Practice your skills with the homeworks over and over again and you wouldnt have to worry about the exams. Exams are pretty easy so long as you attend class and practice. Shes really nice & accesible! nice to look at too.

Very good teacher! Was a very easy class. She usually allows a "cheat sheet" on test days or she gives you one that is very detailed. Her lectures are very detailed, and she is very willing to answer any questions you have.

I have enjoyed the class and think she's a very good teacher when it comes to the lectures, everything is clear and concise. There is not too much homework. My only complaint is lack of communication. I have sent a handful of emails, and posted in her Q and A discussion posts, to never get a reply and its very frustrating for an online class format

Greatest teacher Ive had, she makes stats one of the funnest classes ever. Its half online half in class so show up when you can because shell give you questions on the exams that people who dont go to class wont get. Starts off very easy but dont get complacent because statistics takes work so you need to focus but its relaly fun. Great job

Calculus is not easy, this class is fast paced, I cried a decent amount. Prof Giles is a great professor who helps you as much as possible and breaks the concepts down well. I took this class as a hybrid class meaning half on campus and half online. Very easy and understanding teacher. Be on time for every lecture and you will ace the tests and quizzes. I wish I can take her again. Literally the nicest. Like students to ask questions and succeed. I highly recommend her. Most of her work is on the calculator!!!

This was my third time taking stats due to just not getting it ! I read the reviews before choosing her class ! So glad I did. Shes so clear on her lectures & makes sure you get it. I did well on my test ! And the final was easy ! I had to make my own test & use the formulas she taught us & turn it in the day of the final !!

In this class right now with 98%. From the reviews, it looked easy at first but the class average grade wise on every test is low 70's. If you can put the time in, you can easily get out of this class with an A. About 95% of it is on the calculator. Also, the study guides are almost identical to the tests. Do the work, and you'll pass!

Prof Giles is a true gem! The best in her field! I have taken stats twice and have done horribly, but the way she explains the content... it just MAKES SENSE! She is so knowledgeable and makes something as challenging as stats easy! I took her algebra class prior and the same thing--amazing! If you struggle in math, do yourself a favor, pick Giles!

I avoided this class for 2 and 1/2 years before I took itit. Professor Giles is no doubt one of the best in the department. The videos she makes layout everything. Homework can be done within a matter of minutes if you follow the videos. Study Guides just like the tests. Just make sure to put the time in. Thank you, Giles, till next semester.

Proffesor Giles was good in the sense that she makes the material clear to understand. The course is based off of online homework, in class assignments, 4 exams, and a cumulative final. Although majority of the grading is based on the 4 exams and the final. The class was manageable and not too difficult. Still an "A" is not really easy to earn.

Professor Giles is very straight forward. She is an amazing teacher and makes Stats less intimidating. Her lectures were online and in class (hybrid). The tests were based off the study guides, but the more you practice problems, the better you will do! Honestly, one of the best math teachers I have ever had. You won't regret it! TAKE HER CLASS!

A little over a month before the semester ends. I can confidentially say, Giles is a wonderful professor. She really does seem to care about the student's grade. In my year of learning under her, I can say I was hardly confused. Wish there were more like her! Giles if you do read this, thank you for numbing down Stats and Calculus for me!

Professor Giles was AMAZING! She is so clear with her lectures because she provides lecture notes for you to follow along and complete as she does the problems in class. When we moved to online due to COVID she was always there to help. They were super clear to follow and she is always available. She is the best math teacher!!!

I really enjoyed this class. The lectures are recorded and perfect to understand. Professor Giles was always available and even met me outside of office hours on zoom to help. I wish there were more professors like her at Grossmont! She was always available, and although the concepts would be hard to understand at times, she would always sit with me until I understood. As long as you study what she tells you and what is in the lectures, you will be successful!

I've never been great at math, especially calc. However, Professor Giles really cared about me and my success, and was able to give specific instruction and tips throughout the course. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, and everyone should take her course if they can!!

Professor Sharon Giles she is such a wonderful person. She got an amazing teaching skill, she takes her time to explain each question. I highly recommend him.

Sharon was a great stats teacher. She lectured via prerecoreded video lectures due to COVID. After watching the lectures we would have a 2 to 3 question quiz followed by more learning of that particular subject. Learning stats on a Zoom platform is challenging but I did it! Find a study partner, keep up on your homework, and ask lots of questions.

This teacher only has lecture videos, the notes she gives has some parts missing, and the assignment are easy, if you put the effort of studying. Other than that an easy class

I liked Professor Giles a lot. As someone who struggles with math her expectations and assignments were clear cut and specific. I did well thanks to the endless attempts at the homework. Caring professor that gives many opportunities to do well.

Took Quantitative Reasoning - really easy class, all I had to do was the homework+tests on Pearson (endless attempts on the hw saved me lol) and watch her video lectures on the material which made it easy to understand. They were never >30 mins and had ez questions. Zoom attendance is optional but it's there if you need help.

I took stats with her online best professor ever! Everything is handed to you just need to apply yourself! Easy A and if u dont understand she gives u an hour before lecture for help!

Professor Giles gave 3 tests through the whole semester with a final exam. She is really caring and thorough and will ask you if you have any questions. She gives a break each hour and has a lot of group or self time without a lecture. She allows 5 absences before docking points.

the best math teacher ive ever had! this was my first college class after high school, and her support class at the beginning of her math class is greatly appreciated. she's very caring and wants to help her students succeed, so don't be afraid to ask questions! she's there to help, apply yourself and you will succeed!

Professor Giles has a great personality and is helpful. She is very organized and has a great way of providing information for each module. However, she does use pre-recorded videos as lectures and you have to do the homework after watching the videos. Sometimes some of the things were not even shown or mentioned in the video. Overall she's okay.

Giles is great, as someone who struggles a lot with math, she made things very understandable. Goes through different methods to do things, and provides the worksheets for you. Homework is simple and easy and you're allowed a note sheet for exams.

I took this class back in Fall 2020, but will never forget her! Had to take math for a GE requirement, and I loved her structure with the class-it was very consistent and organized throughout! I used the book and her lectures-both I think were helpful to learn everything. Sometimes the math concepts got tricky, but overall wonderful math teacher!!

I was nervous to take this class. I highly recommend Professor Giles. I took her 6 week summer class and she is very organized and provides detailed information for each module. The homework had unlimited attempts and she allowed two attempts on each quiz. Don't be afraid to ask questions. She is very caring and available to help when needed.

I LOVED Professor Giles, she is very organized, respects students time, and she is great at teaching. I took her Spring semester of 2023 for Statistics and her class was so easy! She let the students decide if we wanted to do a final project with a group or final exam. We obviously chose the final project and it was so easy and doable!

Her quizzes match what was in the lecture and was easy to get at least 80% everytime. Exams are open notes and she gives a good study guide. You can easily solve whats in the quiz and exam by rewatching lectures or referring to notes. Easy to get a A or B if do all of HW and quizzes/exam. Finished weekly assignments in 3-4 hours.

SUPER easy class. does have a bit of an annoyingly nasally voice throughout online lectures but gets the point across. but honestly you'll spend probably 2 hours max per week on this class.

Every week there was a lecture or two, homework, and a quiz. She explains concepts clearly and you can do the homework as many times as you want to get 100%. She is easy to get ahold of and is upfront about grading policies. I'll definitely take another class with her.

Professor Giles makes math more manageable, even for those who struggle. Her lectures are clear, and she provides helpful worksheets. Utilize Unstuckstudy along with the free textbook to master the course.

The semester hasn't ended yet but right now I have a C. This class is soo easy, I only have a C because I've missed a few assignments. No late submissions are accepted but otherwise the class is really easy if you just need to get a math credit finished like I did. I don't recommend this class if you actually need or want an in-depth course.

Every week she gives you a printed lecture, then you complete a knowledge check (this counts as your attendance), she gives 2 assignments every week on Pearson which did cost $67 but they are SO easy. total of 4 exams are exactly like the practice test; this class made me love stats and i hate math, she is the BEST ever pls take her 11/10

TAKE THIS CLASS! you do have to buy the pearson course fee which was $50 but the class is very simple. 1-2 homework assignments with tutorials embedded and 1 quiz per week. big fan of this class and professor Giles

I highly recommend Giles for math 160. She lets you use a full page front and back of notes as long as there were handwritten. All information I needed on any test was on my note sheet with room to spare. Not a lot of homework. You can choose to do either the final or a project instead. Very sweet. Very helpful in and out of the classroom.

This is the best professor for Math 120. Her lectures perfectly align with the tests! I attended some of her classes, but mostly watched her lectures since she published them on Canvas. I didn't put much time into the homework, but as long as you study the test reviews, you'll be prepared for the tests—no extra credit.

Professor Giles was very well organized and clear. Easy to follow class. I wish her format was standard for all online professors. Do the work and you'll get the grade reflected by your effort. Only negative i'd say is she's not responsive to emails so plan to be available to attend her office hours if you have any technical issues, questions etc.

Professor Giles is literally the teacher! I fully believe had I taken stats with someone else I would've been screwed. She made her lectures easy enough to understand and if you didn't understand something there was always room to ask questions. Although it was hard for me to get up at 8am to fully use my brain with Professor Giles it was doable :)

Forgot to rate from last semester but needed to give her a good one, even though I forgot many things about the class itself. She is an incredible professor, I have literally only had 1 other teacher who has ever explained math so well. She is pretty direct when you go to her for a question, but is usually helpful.

Professor Giles is awesome and really wants you to succeed. Her lectures are clear, interesting, and can be applied to real life. She gives multiple attempts for quizzes so you can learn from your mistakes and improve your grade.

I was honestly nervous on taking this class over the summer. I was very pleased to have Professor Giles, as my Calculus instructor for the 6 weeks. 2 times quizzes a week, a 6 homework assignments a week in average, and 1 midterm and final. (must submit handwritten-notes within 30 mins of completion of the midterm and final). 4.5 out of 5.

She's a chill teacher, but her tests are long and heavily graded. Two versions, lots of parts, and vocab matters. You get a cheat sheet and study guide. Follow her printed notes carefully. Homework is only one 10-pt assignment—don't miss the deadline. No quizzes, so tests matter. Class is early but ends early.

Great professor and always explains things in depth. Allows a note page every exam. You do in class worksheets turned in at the end of every class so don't slack off with attendance. As long as you study the test reviews before each exam you will pass. Very kind and a soothing presence.

Lectures are pretty much one classwork assignment after we learn about the topic, fairly easy. Only 2 homework assignments due online once a week, those are harder but not bad. She is a very tough grader for tests, so prepare to always check your work. great professor though
