If you like reading Neo-Liberal literature, take the class; she seems to have plenty to give. She'll always respond to your discussion comments as "interesting." There are films, discussions, lectures and lots of reading, but overall a thought provoking class. If you're lazy, don't take this class. She's a funny lady and very nice.
This was my favorite class this semester. She is very intelligent, organized, clear, and interesting. great discussions
teacher is cool, class is easy. i went to class like twice a month and passed with an A. its a joke of a class and if you want an easy A take this class!!!
i loved this class, and looked forward to it every week. there is practically no homeowork, although there is assigned reading, i didnt look it over till the day before the tests and still got A's.... But beware of the final reseach paper!!! it is the only real work of the class though. take this class
i loveeeeeed this class! Ms. Kim is a really nice teacher and her lectures are very interesting. I always looked forward to going to this class every week. There isn't much homework but there are assigned readings. The only real work in the class is the research paper, so be sure to pick a topic you'd enjoy researching.
She's okay. tests are easy, final was a complete throw off with some random questions. ususally has one question per chp of reading on her test.
Interesting class. Easy teacher. Minority Relations class challenges your perceptions of Race, gender, and social class. This class is a must for sociology majors.
awesome teacher. alot of discussion. group project. i always thought i did bad on the exams but always got a B or higher. tells you wats on the exam. alot of films and class activities. she does take attendance but over all GREATT teacher.
Great teacher, and class was pretty fun. The group discussions and value of our opinions made it very interesting. Not much use of the book, untill she gives out a study guide for a test
Unfair grading system. attendance and participation is worth as much as the final exam! She has an unreliable way of taking attendance and it really isn't possible for her to write down every time a student participates yet she counts attendance and participation as much as the final exam. it could bring your grade down a whole grade.
class started good, but slowly went downhill. the final project is inconsistent with the course and the exams are not too hard but not that easy. she takes attendance.

I loved this class. She really brings out interesting discussion topics in class-makes you think. She is really nice and intelligent. Read the book, do the study guides and you'll be fine with the tests. She is a tough grader though when it comes to essays so get your facts straight, but also support it with your own views.
(Online) The materials were interesting but sometimes it felt like I was taking a history class. Read the book and know the stats because they show up on tests. Prof was really nice and helpful. On-time with giving grades back. Tough grader on essays. Good class overall.
(Online) this class was really hard. The only thing that saved my grade was the discussions. She was a hard grader on essays and tests were just obsurd. The study guide doesnt help at all... you have to read because detailed facts are on the test
Mrs. Kim is a very nice teacher. The whole class is about real world topics and she loves when you participate. Make sure you read the text! There is a pop quiz every week, but if you read you are good.
Great class. Much more interesting than I thought it would be.
She is not a very good professor. Assignments are easy but tests are irrelevant. Tests are mostly based on meaningless statistics that are hard to remember. Seriously, who is going to remember that stuff. I would not recommend her or want to take her class again.
very fun class, lots of good discussion that pertains to everyday life. i only read the book right before the midterm and the final and passed with a B.
interesting lectures and great class discussions. Make sure you take notes and read the textbook.
Professor Kim is really nice. She really wants you to do well and she will most likely get to know who you are. She goes over most things in her power points but you also need to read because there are pop quizzes. If you just read and pay attention you'll be fine. If you miss a couple classes it won't be too bad.
Professor Kim was an amazing professor. Managed to get an A-. Keep up with the reading & you'll for sure get an A. She was very helpful & she likes when you participate. She's funny & interesting. Powerpoints are interesting as well.
Dr. Kim is an excellent professor. Open note exams were a plus! Great incentive to study when you know you can bring a sheet of notes for exams! The class was fairly easy, she is super duper nice too!
Do good on your 2Midterms and Final you'll be fine READ BOOK, also study guides arent helpful better off on reading. She's nice though.
The class was extremely easy. You can basically pass with a b if you just show up to class. We are allowed to use a cheat of notes for the exams but I didn't even need it bc I forgot to make a cheat sheet several times and still aced the exams. She was laid back and cancelled class a lot.
this class was so boring and a lot of times class was canceled for an online activity. sharon is a nice lady but her voice made me want to fall asleep everytime. read the book and you will be fine. for the tests she lets you make a cheat sheet so that helps...
this was a really easy online course. read the book, read the lecture notes, take the test and participate in online discussion. really straight forward. prof kim really enjoys her subject and you can tell. she's pretty accommodating and emailed us all a couple extra little things that made the material a little easier to understand. take her.
I'm taking two of her classes right now. No study guide, power points don't help, she rarely has any communication with us. Her test as super specific, and sometimes don't make sense. No paper which is the only good thing. Would not recommend her at all
Like any online course, the textbook is crucial to getting a good grade. The answers for the exams are STRAIGHT from the textbook. If you don't want to memorize all the facts and statistics, get the coursesmart text. She's a very helpful professor, adjusted exam grades when there were questions everyone missed.
Took class online. 4 multiple choice exams that are equally weighted. No paper for the online class. She responds promptly to emails which is a great asset to have for a professor who teaches online.
The online class was clear, organized, and straightforward. The questions on the test come from the textbook, so you need to read carefully. She responds quickly to e-mails.
This Class was hard for a a GE. It was discussion board assignments, 4 T F quizzes and 3 test. The test were super hard and didn't really to pertain to the reading. A lot of the questions you had to apply and a good amount of it was irrelevant.
Lectures were super interesting with real life examples. Test questions were challenging but allows a page of notes. Be sure to make good use of that page. Good class discussions.
Took her online class and there was a lot of assigned readings - do them. Her tests can be difficult, none of them are exactly the same, but she does curve them. W/ every reading she provides an outline - follow them, add your own notes, and make everything digital - that way you can look up your answers (online exams).
Her class is interesting. If you don't pass you're a moron. I got an 82 without having to read any chapters. Just engage in the class, listen & understand, review before the exam and you'll be solid.
SUPER easy course. I learned a lot of new things about different races. You can get away with not doing the reading. My highest grade on a test was actually on the chapters I chose to not read. Ratings are too low in my opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed her class. The group court cases are the final exam, automatic A if you do your part and pretty fun!
Fantastic Online Course. Really well organized and the subject is interesting. The instructor replies to e-mails really quickly.
Class activities were great but her lectures were much just read off the power point yet you HAVE to go to class to help your participation grade. Our class only met only once a week and there were 2 classes we did meet for (that's a lot!).Online activities were assigned to replace the missed class that took WAY longer than a lecture would have.
She is super helpful and replies to emails really quickly. It was a hybrid course so we only went in to take tests. There were about five I believe, but she let you bring one page of notes on test days.
Very kind and interesting teacher. She uses many examples to make concepts relatable. Class activities are fun. A variety of different exercises in her classes.
Great professor and very easy class. This was probably one of the easiest classes I've taken and was perfect to do over the summer for some extra credit. There is an exam once a week and discussion responses and that's like it. If you want an easy A while still learning something, get this professor.
This class was interesting because it involved religion so it made the discussions a lot more intriguing. The majority of the class grading is based on participation. There are four quizes, some memos, court cases, six page research paper, and a group research presentation in the class. I learned a lot about many religions from the presentations.
MUST TAKE THIS CLASS! I enrolled not knowing it was an online course. It was the easiest class I took this semester. 5 exams (50 points each) and 5 discussion posts (20 points each). Book is interesting so the reading doesnt kill you. She allows 1 pg of notes on each exam day! Super nice lady who answers email quickly. Highly recommend. TAKE HER (:
I read the reviews and took the class. Big mistake. The subject is easy but tests are difficult. She makes you work really hard for a really easy subject. Do not take it if you care for your grade.
Get ready to read. 4 timed tests each 50 points plus 120 points for online discussions. very organized class which makes you think this is an easy A. WRONG. Read every single page in the book. very hard grader. Take it with somebody lese if you can before it is too late!
As past reviewers have said, READ EVERY PAGE. Circle statistics and years in the text, so they are easy to find. The test are tough and they are timed! I rather sit in a classroom setting and be timed to take a test rather than online, so much stress. Maybe it's just me, you may be good at this sort of thing. Not an easy A though! Be warned!
No detailed study guides for test and the power-points do not help, but she puts interesting videos on them. My advice: Read every page in the text carefully and take REALLY GOOD notes!
Took the online course and we had weekly discussions and a total of 4 exams which were a bit challenging. She is very organized and emails you right away if you have any questions. If you read the book and do all your discussion boards you should easily pass this class. I highly recommend her!
easiest class ever! highly recommend. i didn't know this class was mostly online which was awesome because you barely went to class. all assignments and text are online.
I took this class online and it was somewhat easy. Expect reading assign chapters for the exam. Your grade is composed of online discussions and your EXAMS. You must read and study. She provides online power points which are very helpful and online vocab flashcards. You only meet the day of the exams. She provides check lists for every week.
Her class was easy and interesting. Exams are a bit of a time crunch. 50 mc in only one hour.
We had 7 exams and online discussions every other week. She is very organized and emails students about any updates. We had class about 7 times out of the entire semester even though it was a MWF class. Her lectures are interesting and she asks for class participation. The test are easy/online. You are able to use the textbook and online resources.
Reasonable expectations. Interesting subject. Be sure to read the textbook carefully for the exams.
The class was extremely straightforward! It was an online 5 week summer class and week one everything we would need was available (except the tests). 5 discussion boards and 4 tests. Basically listen to lecture, read, study and you should be okay. Would definitely take Professor Kim again!
I took this class online on Fall'16. I'm not going to say that she is super easy, but for an online class, it was very easy to follow and understand what's due and what's expected. You MUST read the chapters in order to A's the tests - fortunately the book was interesting to read. I would love to take her again for another course!
The class was completely online which I find very convenient for people who have busy schedules. The class overall was not difficult but the terminology and concept is ALOT of reading. Her exams are straight-out and should not be difficult if you read the chapters. Professor Kim does a great job keeping the course organized and on task. I Recommend
As long as you're dedicated to turning in all the discussion boards on time, you'll get an easy A. There are 4 exams which are easy and 6 discussion boards throughout the entire semester. Professor Kim is super sweet, organized, dedicated to the subject, and extremely knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend taking this course with her!
I took her hybrid class and it was really easy to understand and flow for an online course! We only had class 6 times throughout the semester and her lectures were amazing! Need to read the chapters in order to pass exams, don't miss online discussion boards they will drop your grade a lot!
She is a very nice and cool person. There is a discussion board every week and exams throughout the course. I would have done better is I got the book. We only saw her twice the semester. I enjoyed the class topics.
Dr Kim is very nice, and will email you back quickly. There are online discussions (papers) and chapter tests online. Do the reading, take notes, and you will do great. Would take her again :)
One of the easiest classes I've taken. I took the hybrid class, so there were only about 4 on-campus meetings, while the rest of all online-based. Recommend getting the book because you need citations for the discussion posts.
I took this class during winter intersession and received an A. Professor Kim is very organized and has a clear grading criterion that is clear for students to follow. The online class is composed of weekly discussion posts/responses and 4 major exams. I am excited to take Professor Kim for future classes with a full-time job and school load.
Prof. Kim is amazing! I took her hybrid class which basically consisted of discussion posts and online tests - both of these were really easy to complete! She is very passionate about sociology, which only makes it more interesting for her students. On top of that she is approachable, understanding, and an amazing professor overall!
Dr. Kim is well organized. Everything it nicely laid out week by week, so you know exactly what is due. Textbook is required for weekly assignments. Quizzes are not too bad, but there is a time crunch. Open textbook notes. She replies to emails quickly and grades assignments promptly.
The subject matter was pretty interesting and thought provoking. In addition, Prof. Kim's lectures were concise, the video examples were on point, and the tests are easy if you take even an average interest in the subject matter. After enduring 4 years of Trump, this class will give you a huge amount of clarity about race in America.
Professor is so sweet and understanding, not to mention the subject is super interesting. Work and study load are minimal and honestly an easy A. A weeks worth of work could be done in 30-40 mins, definitely recommend this class for GE credits.
Okay this past year has kicked any motivation I had to do with school so I did the bare minimum. Prof Kim's class is the class that saved my GPA this semester. Discussion boards with book citations one week & then an exam the following week. Easy class, great teacher, great GPA boost, 6 exams(easy As),no midterm/final/projects/quizzes. Pls take her
want an ez class?? take this class!! class was asynchronous. one week is a discussion board, the following is a test. found book online for free. didnt read but found everything on quizlet. discussion require 400-450 words & 200-250 replies for other students. test were 40 ques & 40 mins. she grades easily. passed w an A. would take again.
A low-demand class. Discussion boards and exams make up your grade. She didn't provide lectures (wish she did), only a PowerPoint summarizing the material. You have to read the book to do well on the exams (open book; 40 ques). Discussion boards' requirements are quite lengthy so don't do them last minute (easy points). Overall, a decent class.
Take her! This class consists of four exams they are timed (you have 50 minutes to answer 50 questions). If you read you will do awesome! Biweekly discussion boards on a chapter or video (takes about 30min-1hr to do). You will need to include two citations from the assigned chapter into the discussion board. Thats pretty much it! Super easy! :) A+
This class could not have been any easier, I took it during winter session. Open book, open note exams and three discussion posts. Three chapters per week due to condensed format, but super easy and not long reading. On a personal level, Dr. Kim is very understanding and empathetic, gave me an extension on an assignment when I had family emergency.
Taking this as a 5-week course in summer. 5 discussion boards (one intro) and 4 tests (all open note). textbook is needed if you want to do well on tests. only criticism I have is you have to progress thru the test questions in order, you can't go back and change answers, the time limit can be a little longer but its still doable. Ez class overall
There are 4 discussions and 4 exams, which are all open book and multiple choice. I took this class in summer and would totally take it again, really easy! There are powerpoint slides and outlines to help you. You do have to read from the textbook for the discussions but not too much reading as you only need two quotes to support your writing.
Highly recommend to take her. I just finished her class- summer 2022. Her quizzes are pretty easy since it can be found in google. Just do discussion posts weekly on time, you should be fine.
Professor Kim made this 3 week winter course very easy. 1 introduction post, 3 discussions, and 3 exams. The exams are open note/textbook, but I recommend taking notes since you can't go back and change answers to questions. Very engaging class since you have to reply to two people per discussion, but it makes for great dialogue.
Asynch - Five total 400-word discussions, use book as evidence for your answer, respond with 200 words to two classmates. Six total open-note exams with 30 multiple choice and 1 prompt question. Clear on what she wants, just make sure to look at due dates and read directions/rubric when doing work! Very interesting material + easiest class ever!
Super easy class. Class was 100% online never went in person. Professor does not give lectures. Textbook is required for discussion posts. Class consists of 6 exams worth 68% of ur grade & 5 discussion posts worth 28% of grade. No HW in this class. Would 100% take this class again. Took it as an elective & was super easy.
The content of this class was very interesting. The class is also very straightforward just pay careful attention to due dates on the syllabus because Canvas won't let you know.
The course consists of weekly reading and either a quiz or discussion post. Discussion posts are easy points! Tests are not super difficult, but you should do the reading. Doesn't really interact with students, but the course is straightforward and easy.
This was an easy class. Only discussions and exams. No big projects or papers. The workload is light and I felt like I learned a lot. Make sure you get a copy of the textbook. You need it for the discussions and helps a lot for the tests. I never felt like I was worried for my grade in this class or the work
this class was extremely easy and a GPA booster. there are 5 discussion posts, 6 exams that only cover one chapter. class is asynchronous so everything is on you to do. exams are extremely easy. discussion posts are long but not too bad. class was extremely manageable and didn't have to worry about it. i recommend if you want to boost your GPA!
I took this course during the summer, so it was all online. Class was very manageable and very straightforward. There were 1 intro post and 4 discussion posts. All required 2 replies to peers and 4 timed exams, but were open book. I was able find the pdf version online for free for the book used for this course, so it saved me some money there.
pretty easy class, she's very understanding of outside issues and gave me extensions when needed. only a few things you're graded on, be careful because one slip up and your grade will get lowered (like mine). late work not accepted so stay on top of that. get pdf version of textbook to save money!
Professor Kim is by far one of the worst professors I have had at Cal State Fullerton. She never responds to emails and she takes forever to grade assignments. If you get two points deducted from a discussion board your grade will heavily decrease. DO NOT TAKE HER. Take another elective.
Avoid this professor—two essays based on dull documentaries, vague essay prompts, and strict grading. You'll likely need to pay for a textbook just for four discussion boards. She's nitpicky on grammar, slow to respond to emails, and offers little support. Take this class with someone else if possible.
Good teacher who cares about the topic. ASA style writing. Pay attention to the rubrics. If u get a low grade on an assignment, ask how to improve for the next one. 3 DB, 4 exams, 2 mini papers. If you read the book you'll do just fine on the quick, open-book exams. If you do more than minimal effort, you will get a good grade in this class.
i mean she is a good professor easy for soci 101 yeah if you take soci 101 I'll recommend to the other level class i don't know lol.
This was an easy class with either an exam or discussion post every week. Take her for an easy A, just keep up with the assignments and make sure to get the textbook so you can cite it.
She doesn't give too many assignments but is a tough grader. Wouldn't take again. She always asked for a deeper analysis on my work that completed the prompt. Easy class just tough to analyze deeper simple things like she wanted/complete word count.
