A new professor for stats 2. She knows what she's talking about but her lectures can be confusing as she is just getting started teaching. She's an overall nice person but her assignments are extremely tough. Allows cheat sheets for midtermexams. She gives many opportunities for marks (quizzes, attendance, etc)
The group lab assignment was brutal and tedious, unnecessary amount of work for a group project. The midterm wasn't too bad but only if you read the textbook, her lectures aren't very helpful and tend to be boring. The final was a different story, easily one of the hardest finals I've ever done and she barely prepared us for it.
Very monotone and bland. Makes up her own formulas for stats ( never seen them before). lectures have an average of 100 slides per hour and a half class ( um, how). Doesn't show how to do any hands on examples and makes weird jokes. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Thank god the T.a is helpful...
Monotone, doesn't give much clarity in her work, her tests are vague; the way she words her tests are quite confusing, if it wasn't for the T.A this class would have been impossible to make through. Run while you can
If you're not ready to put in some work you will do poorly. However, if you actually do the homework and really try to understand the concepts you will do fine. It's not a high-school class; she goes quick and covers a lot of material. Her exams are a bit tricky but she lets you bring a formula sheet and gives lots of part-marks.
she is very monotone and she is really confusing. i took her statistic class in psych and she only uses powerpoint to show formulas and does not do hand calculations which is very hard to follow. easy to fall asleep in class, but she is a very nice lady
No clarity at all when it comes to assignments and midterms. Her grading criteria is ridiculous and you'll be marked on things that aren't even asked for in the question. She is horribly monotone and not engaging at all. Her slides are all power point and rarely uses examples on the board.
Prof Lee has good office hours but isn't any help. Doesn't speak loud enough and isn't clear. Powerpoints are confusing & textbook wasn't for me. Exams were really tough! 2 midterms, a bunch of assignments and a final. She's not trying to be cruel, actually really nice, just has a hard time communicating the material. Avoid her for stats if you can
I also had this prof for PSY 3142. I ended up dropping stats because it was so unclear and I wasn't able to follow the lectures. Her slides were confusing with a lot of it relating to SPSS and not the actual calculations. She was better in 3142, although expected you to know minute details in a course which already had so much information to learn.
Dr. Lee is a great professor. She is intuitive and respectful of her students. Her classes can be difficult but if you follow closely with her expectations and put in the effort you will do well! She's a new proff so it's going to be a learning curve for her. She is passionate about behavioural sciences!
She's friendly and approachable, but her exams are extremely difficult. Be prepared to do a lot of studying... like, a LOT of studying.
Her lectures tend to parallel the textbook, but she also expects you to memorize 90% of the diagrams you encounter for the exams. Homework after every lecture, test questions are ambiguous. She cancelled 3 classes then tried to cram the material into one day without amending the exam to reflect what was actually covered in class.
This class is perception, one of the difficult psy courses , material is very heavy and the prof would tend to read the slides, don't go to class. Keep in mind she is very nice and sweet when you talk to her but she's doesnt teach the material well .take another professor is you can, if not read the textbook
Very good professor and very accessible outside of class (she even once mentioned arranging a time outside of her office hours at a restaurant to meet students before the final). However, most lectures are spend reading her slides... take this how you will.
Dr. Lee is a nice woman. She's clear on concepts, and clear on what's important and what's not. She gives out study tips & wants you to do well. Lectures are based off textbook, so not a big deal if you miss one. Can be unclear about what exactly to study for exams. Will review everything she talked about, but it won't all be there. Exams are easy.
She just a really boring lecturer and her exam was completely different then her midterms but everything is multiple choice and all of her lectures are exactly from the textbook
She is really caring and sweet. You just have to read because she gives a clear grading criteria and everything's then straight forward
Sharon Lee does what a teacher has got to do. Her lectures are directly from the slides, and everything she covers is in the notebook. I probably showed up twice in this class yet still passed with a sub-decent mark. she is a platform for content and you just need to take all you can get.
Sharon Lee was actually a great psych prof. She is a bit quiet and sometimes her lectures may be a bit boring; but her midterms are very fair and easy and come right from the slides. I recommend reading the textbook because it does help understand the concepts and is actually interesting to read. She was very kind and I would take her again!
She is the sweetest professor I have ever had. Her grading criteria is very clear and reasonable. It is not a easy course, but as long as you go to class and do the exercises she gives you, you'll be fine. Her slides are very clear as well, and all the things you need to know for the exam is on there. I'm really glad to have her as my professor!
avoid her at all costs. she says how much she loves to help students, then when actually asked for help she will be rude. so hard to concentrate on her lectures bc shes so monotone and boring. also the content of this class was hard to grasp and she didnt explain it well
professor is caring and sweet. slides are very cluttered which makes the concepts harder to understand than they are. exams were easy, assignments were long but doable
Most boring prof I have ever had. She is not interesting, talks too quietly, and basically just reads her powerpoints which are copy-pasted from the textbook. Don't go to class - waste of time. Read the chapters in the textbook as the final is completely based on it and is cumulative.
Very nice prof, doesn't lecture on anything not important to tests and quizzes. very clear criteria on what she wants. shes also just a very caring person and very motherly. i would take her class again
Simply reads off slides that she posts online making lectures very dry, no aditional info presented in lectures. Expects you to memorize most of the diagrams and figures in the textbook for exams. Homework after every lecture and makes you use the ebook with mandatory quizzes. 10/10 would never take a class with this prof again.
So boring. She reads right off the slides so you don't have to bother going to class. I wouldn't take her as a prof again as I found the class extremely boring.
She's so boring! All she does is read from her slides, which are pretty much taken directly from the textbook that we're supposed to read on our own time anyway. She doesn't even add any of her own information.
Professor Lee is a very caring teacher and is very passionate about her work. She reads off the slides but she relates her life experiences to some of the slides which are very interesting. She gives helpful homework slides which consist of most of the information that is tested on the midterms. She also is fair with grading.
Dense course but she makes her slides very clear what she will test on. She also give 'homework' slides, not for grads, but for studying. These will let you know exsactly what she wants you to know for her tests. Test are hard as they are short answers, fill in blank, and lable diagrams but she reviews them and adjust grades if marked wrong.
She gives "homework slides" (not graded), which is helpful but some questions can be tricky. However, she does read off her slides most of the time. I stopped attending the lectures halfway through the semester. Read the textbook, study her slides and do the homework slides. That's the only way to succeed in this course.
Would not recommend taking a class with her at all! You can tell shes a nice & caring lady, but class was SO boring and hardly anybody ever showed because she would just read from the slides. Her slides are also made up of stuff copied right from the textbook, so youre better off to read the textbook on your own time.
Sharon Lee is a kind lady, but her lectures bore me- she was not engaging at all as she just read the slides. Half way through the semester I would just stop going to her lectures, and just focus on the reading and studying the slides on Brightspace. So, if you do take her, I would say most of the learning is independent.
A very kind and intelligent professor. Some of her course material or projects are a bit tough but after finishing you will realize how helpful this knowledge will be in the future. She really wants the best for her students
Professor Lee is very knowledgeable, and helpful especially if approached outside of class. For Biological Foundations of Behaviour, reading the textbook is absolutely necessary in addition to doing the homework slides. Often marking differs from material covered in class and homework. Lectures can be dry but Dr. Lee is very helpful.
She really is a good prof who knows her stuff. The course is packed but interesting and she takes the time to answer questions. As for exams/midterms - labelling diagrams, MC, and short answer, changes the grade if you can argue your point well, in-class review AND she'll give "homework slides" that isnt graded and is simply for your benefit.
Great professor, knows her stuff extremely well. If you attend class, do the homework slides and review your notes you should pass with a good grade. Mid terms and exams are not cumulative.
I have had Dr. Lee for a number of classes, this class requires work but if you keep on top of the homework and readings you will succeed. She is a very fair grader and gives great feedback on assignments and tests. She does a great job at preparing you for future education. (Make sure you know your APA!)
Dr. Lee is a great professor. She truly cares about her students and will respond to your emails very quickly. While she may sometimes be monotone, she gives extremely clear explanations and lots of examples. She provides a ton of practice questions for those who need them. I feel very prepared for the future after taking her class!
Amazing prof. The course was super tough, but she made it enjoyable. Very helpful and willing to answer questions, and super funny and easy to talk to in-office hours. Teaching style is engaging, but her pace is a little slow. REALLY recommend her for this course!!!
She is very clear on what she is testing on. She posts study slides and sometimes the questions are taken straight from the study slides. As long as you keep up to date with the information, and study the study slides she posts, you should get a good mark.
Awful professor. Gives review slides, but most questions had nothing to do with the review? Certainly would not take a class with her again.
do yourself a favour and take this prof- I was scared to take stats but could not have asked for a better prof to learn from! She genuinely cares about her students and she is so sweet it's awesome I 10/10 recommend
I've taken two classes with Prof Lee now and she can be a bit dry but enjoyable. Lectures are good and easy to take notes from. The textbook was important for this class but it is available for free online. The lectures provide most of the info with the textbook as backup readings. She's clear on grading criteria and exams are straightforward.
Really sweet. It's a heavy course load, lots of info to cover and you definitely have to read the textbook, but its free online. 2 midterms, 2 assignments, final. Synchronous lectures but they're recorded. Takes a long time to get midterm/assignment grades back. I'd take her again I think.
She is a sweet and nice professor. She cares about her students and makes stats easier. Make sure to do well on the homework because those add up to your final grades a lot. Theyre pretty easy if you follow the lectures, plus, if you understand the concepts/ hw shes always available to help.
Very great prof. Pay attention, do the study slides and you'll do great. simple as that
Honestly an amazing professor. Truly cares about her students and wants everyone in her class to succeed. Will offer help if necessary, and responds to emails promptly. Lectures felt engaging and showed she put effort into the class. Textbook is required for some diagrams, but that should be expected with any biology-related class.
She is an excellent professor. Her lectures are engaging and she incorporates her own experiences and knowledge to keep things fresh. She always makes note of the important topics which makes studying easier. I get the feeling that she cares about her students and she actually enjoys teaching.
(PSY 3301) Sharon has got to be one of the kindest profs I've ever been taught by. Although the grading for the paper was harder than I expected, her exams were very very straightforward and could be passed by studying the text/lec's. She has answered every single question I have ever had and did so in the kindest manner. I highly recommend her.
Sharon Lee is a pretty good professor. Due to the course being biology-related, the material is fairly heavy. Dr. Lee however tries to make all lectures as entertaining and easy as possible which is nice. She also provides "Study slides" for you to practice content that will be on the tests which is greatly appreciated.
Do not be intimidated by her!!! Dr. Lee is one of the best profs I have ever had. She is very caring and lovely to speak with. She is also always ready to help when you need clarification. She gives thorough review sessions before exams and midterms, and nothing ever comes to you as a surprise. Great prof for giving study slides too, helps a lot!
Good prof overall very accessible outside of class & always ready to help but the lectures make little sense if you arent reading the textbook alongside them Asks you to learn 2-3 things but then wound up asking you specific questions on the test which felt unfair :( but gives study slides to help you practice content
Awesome prof approachable and kind. Science-heavy, but simplifies concepts well. She sets her students up for success with study slides and review sessions. Did every study slide and felt well-prepared for each exam. Her tests are fair, and if you did the study slides you will be prepared. Study the figures and graphs she puts in the study slides.
The material was very difficult, but she did an excellent job at summing it up on lecture slides. You need to read the textbook to pass the midterms/exam as the lectures are very long but very simplified versions of what you need to know. She gives study slides for each chapter for each midterm and the exam which helped ALOT in studying.
The actual Course was 3301. Dr. Lee is a really good prof. She can be kind of dry at times, but otherwise, really sweet, and really knowledgeable. She is very easy to access outside class, and her Study Slides are probably the most helpful tool I have used for studying in university. Enough reading, but you could probably pass just by using slides.
Neuroscience courses have always been very heavy in terms of memorizing but Dr. Lee made it manageable for me. She also includes study slides to help you prepare for the exams. There is also an 8-page paper but the grading criteria was vague. She is a good and caring professor so don't hesitate to reach out if you need help with the dense material!
Prof was caring. The class was hard since it was based on science.
Prof. Lee was an AMAZING professor. I found her lectures were easy to follow and she explained and re-explained topics greatly. She also posts study slides in which she bases 2/3 of the tests on. While her midterms can be difficult if you study you shouldn't have many issues.
Super great, cares about the students and tries to make her lectures a little bit more interesting. Course was substantially easier than my other courses, but you are only graded on midterms and exam so do your best on those! they are exactly what she tells you to study and are very reasonable.
She was a very mediocre prof, wasn't terrible but wasn't note-worthy either. She gave high-school English teacher vibes and would honestly talk to us like we were high schoolers sometimes which was a bit annoying. Overall, if you read the textbook you'll be fine, her lectures weren't necessary to go to.
I don't understand the negative comments on here. She was one of the best profs I had. Her slides were straight to the point, and interesting lectures. She was caring and understanding and her midterms were the easiest I've had at UoO. She doesn't try to trick you on the midterms, and everything is straight to the point.
Prof Lee is a fantastic teacher who conveys a very complex class incredibly well. It shows that she genuinely cares about her students learning the material effectively. I've read reviews saying she is dry, however I think it is more that she stays on point. She is very intelligent, kind, concise and actually has a pretty good sense of humour too.
Most of these reviews are based on her online classes but in person it is much more difficult. She expects a lot from her students to a point where it is extremely difficult. I went to every class, read the textbook, did the study slides and began studying 3 weeks before the midterm and still only got a 60%. She is rude and unclear. AVOID HER
Prof Lee's lectures often consisted of reading from slides for extended periods, making it challenging to stay engaged and grasp the material effectively. While she is really nice, the final was difficult and didn't align well with the course content covered in class. I ended up having to self-teach for most of the course.
Prof Lee was a nice woman don't get me wrong, but gave no opportunities for students to get their marks up. If you are a BA psych student, do not take this class with her! It's heavily biology focused even though she said it was an "intro course". Gave study slides with no answers, so hard to confirm your answers!
A very sweet and accessible prof and highly recommended especially if you're someone with a preexisting science background. Requires a bit of work and self-studying to truly grasp content but Prof. Lee is very accessible outside of class and always willing to answer questions if you don't understand something. Also very generous with regrading.
**Note this was not the course code, but the current one (PSY 4130) was on the list of choices.** If you are a psych major, do yourself a favour and take PSY 4130 with Dr. Lee. She is interesting, inclusive, respectful of the students, and encouraging. This was an excellent course.
Not an ideal prof which is a shame because she seems sweet. Spent every lecture reading directly off the slides which were incredibly dense and full of info. Managed to focus heavily on biology in an intro course. Gave midterm reviews and then added in info that was not on this review.Slides were posted which helped avoid the dry lectures.
She is a nice& caring lady and accessible outside class, but her lectures were not engaging, she would just read from the slides, and her slides were the exact same as the textbook material. Textbook readings were heavy, but as long as you keep up with them, it's not hard to succeed in her class. Her midterms were fairly easy.
Very sweet prof, lectures were straightforward and midterms were fairly easy. Provided many opportunities to access extra help outside of class. Aligns her lectures to match the content on the final pretty well (the PSY1101 final is created by the faculty, not your individual prof). This course is very textbook dependent though.
I'm not sure why she has received such poor reviews. Honestly as someone who is used to heavy content courses this class was a breeze. Professor Lee made the class enjoyable and the content relatable to daily life so it was easy to learn. As long as you pay attention and read the slides you should do well in this class with her. Strongly recommend.
I would definitely recommend her. She explains things well, she uploads her PowerPoints on Brightspace and they are super detailed so you don't have to worry about frantically writing notes or missing important details. There were 2 midterms and a final and all three were very easy (as long as you study the PowerPoints)
Nice, kind woman. Got stuck with bad class (7-10pm), but interesting nonetheless. Tophat essential to do good on midterms and final which are entirely based on it. All exams very reasonable and all MCQ. Kind of annoying process to retrieve past exams though. Easy to get into habit of skipping bc its textbook based. Overall, not a bad class at all.
She is very caring and explains the concepts well. However, the test is heavy, with only a few multiple-choice questions and more than twenty short-answer questions, requiring you to remember almost everything from the slides.
She is kind and goes out of her way to assist you. The course is interesting. Don't fall behind; there is a lot of content.
Sharon is a great prof!! You can tell she really cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Some people say her lectures are not engaging but if you enjoy the content you'll be fine. She likes to give personal examples and talk about her dogs occasionally which I loved. She does midterm reviews which is nice. Overall an amazing professor!
Loves to give personal examples about her dogs :) Her slides are based off the textbook, and summarize it pretty well. Midterms are based off slides, but final is based off textbook & you get a guide of what chapters to study (cuts it down a lot). All of them were very fair. Listening to her lectures definitely helps but you'll be fine to skip.
Her lectures are interesting and she explains the material well. Easy to catch up if you miss a lecture by reading the slides she posts
Lovely professor, very engaging while staying on topic and does a great job answering any questions you might have. Her study guides are useful. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. You could do incredibly well just reading the textbook, but her lectures are far more entertaining than the book.
Prof. Lee seemed like a good teacher for the few classes i went to! You do need to buy the textbook (the same one for 1101) but her slides basically have all the same info. Midterms and final were multiple choice and I found them to be pretty easy even if you barely studied.
Super nice prof, she's always available to help students. Lecture content is super interesting / exams are all multiple choice!
Her lectures mainly just consists of her reading off her slides, with maybe a little bit of elaboration if students ask questions about a topic. Pretty bland teaching style but still somewhat effective. There is a mandatory textbook, but I didn't buy it and only used the slides, so the slides contain the majority of content you'll need.
Tbh I think I attended 3 classes the entire semester, and still did well on all the exams. She mostly reads off the slides, which are just a summary of the textbook chapters, so as long as you read the textbook you'll be fine.
I love her as a professor, she's very caring and pays attention to details and works with you to find solutions. I appreciated the fact that she took from her own time to write to me about an accommodation detail. she is a great lecturer and fair in her exams. I recommend choosing her as a professor.
I think I went to two classes, Prof just reads off the slides, which are posted. Textbook is not super mandatory as long as you takes notes off the slides and understand the material. Prof seems like a very nice person, but lectures are incredibly boring with her reading word for word off the slides. All three exams are multiple choice.
The professor is a little bit off topic when she teaches her lectures which made me get very lost and I just wish she received exams and look at student's assignments when she uploads assignments.
The course code for her doesn't exist (psy4130). She is a passionate professor her delivery in class was so disorganized. Her assessment instructions were so unclear and she even misled so many students on criteria for the final exam. She stated that there wouldn't be dates or names on the multiple choice but it was half the questions.
She is really sweet at times but she can also be kinda mean. Her lectures are heavy but she tries her best to make it engaging. Both midterms were worth a lot and the exam was worth half. This course requires a textbook and there is a lot of reading.
The prof is really nice, but this class made me want to drop out and never come back. Studied for the both midterms and still managed to do bad. If you take her class, do not rely on the textbook. Both midterms are all based on her slides (memorize all diagrams). The final exam however is all textbook content. Good luck because you'll need it.
Prof is really kind and caring about students, as well as very accessible for help. The subject matter is really dry, but she does her best to make classes worth attending. Our classes were half lecture, half discussion which could have been good but ultimately felt like a waste of time. Really nice grader and the final exam was super fair.
Super nice prof and makes her lectures very entertaining. Was from 7-10 and was still one of the classes I attended the most cuz it was interesting. Exam questions are fairly straightforward
