Good teacher!
She knows how to explain things, starts with the basics and expands. If you need to take this class this is the professor to take it with so you can pass VERY easily.
she only knows how to explain things one way. she is not helpful at all. she is not willing to give any extra time. she looks at you like you're dumb when you don't understand something. when you ask a question she just repeats exactly the same thing she just said. i think she's a horrible teacher.
I loved her! I never had to go after and ask for help cause she went through things so thoroughly. I got like a 98% in this class. Get her if you have to take 120(Finite). She's great! By far, one of my best math teachers.
Goes kinda fast with the material, difficult quizzes and test.
Math sucks. And I admit that i wouldn't really like any math class that I would take; however, she is the worst teacher that i have ever had. She teaches material that is not on the test and leaves out much of what is on the test. If you get the chance to take her class, pass on that!
Having her class until 8:15pm on MTWR was absolute HELL!! all i could concentrate on was the clock and goin out afterwards. Her quizzes and tests are difficult and she sucks at explaining the**** on them fully. Stay away!!!
WORST TEACHER!!! Never explains anything.. and looks at you like you are dumb when you don't understand.... She doesn't make herself available outside of class.. hold no office hours.... run away.. run away as fast as you can.... run very very far away
first off - the book doesn't explain anything....she doesn't explain anything.....where do you think i'm coming from?...screw this class
Sharon is an above average math teacher. She is good at explaining and making sure the class is following. My only criticism is that she wastes too much time before tests and quizzes going over stupid things that we already know.
She explained things clearly but sometimes too fast. You have to go to class everyday or you will miss something important. Not my favorite teacher but not terrible.
Makes quizzes and tests overly hard for no reason. Take another teacher, she makes the class harder then it should be. Will not answer any questions regarding the tests on test day, likes to put tricky questions on the tests, no good review before tests/quizzes. Try to take another 120 teacher.
Overall, Sharon was extremely plain. Nothing really exciting about her teaching. I thought that she was willing to help anyone who needed help and generally covered the material at a good pace in good depth.
Not a fun class, but Mrs. Mersch really really wants you to understand. She is very organized and teaches clearly. At times she can be very repetetive. But she gives lots of extra credit.Just keep up with the homework, and get help when you need it. She's very helpful if you go to her office.
terrible teacher...doesn't explain anything and makes everything harder than it has to be

She is a terrible teacher. She emphasizes in class the opposite stuff that is on the test. She is not very helpful, thinks everyone understands everything and makes difficult tests! I suggest you switch classes a.s.a.p. She is nice, but not good teacher!
OMG what the hell was she talking about????
horrible.. nothing much to say except.. horrible!.. she does not care if you understand anything, and if u say otherwise, u are wrong.. she talks about things that are non important to her tests and they show none of ur true grades.. she babbles on and on about stuff that doesnt make sense and you walk out of there feeling like a complete idiot.. it stinks!
SHE PUTS CRAP ONTO THE TEST, I UNDERSTOOD THE MATERIAL BUT THEN SHE MAKES IT ALL COMPICATED ON THE TEST!! COMPLETE BULL CRAP
She teaches elementry math basically, it is so easy, but she explains it in the most complicated manner there is. It is not that hard. She makes it seem hard. I didnt go to class at least once a week, and I got an A.
She says the**** that makes me want to rip my hair out. Like carbos instead of carbs. By the end of the class you will hate her voice to the point you want to punch something when you hear it.
doesn't care about her students... if you have her, try to fix it.. very difficult course and its not worth it.. you're grade will suffer..
People who thought that she made things hard do not know what they are talking about. The only reason I wouldn't give her a perfect is that she makes the class seem so easy that it's boring. It's a very easy A, and she always makes herself available for help. I hate math, but she is one of the best math teachers i ever had
She was overall an ok teacher. She gives lots of extra credit which is nice but her explainations make things way more complicated than they need to be. She also has only 1 hr 4 days a week in her office so getting ahold of her is very difficult. I'd advice taking another prof. Her voice makes you want to shoot yourself.

This class was OK. It was a little hard to understand her explainations, but she did give a lot of extra credit points.
Really easy class, just have to pay attention. I mean, it's simple, just do what you're supposed to do and study a little and you'll get an A. It's amazing that so many college students don't understand this concept then whine and complain because they got a bad grade and they did jack**** all semester..yah..it's the..professor's fault...not mine
She's okay, gives lots of examples and you take lots of notes everyday. Do the homework and ask questions at the beginning of class and you should do fine. The tests are kind of hard, but if you do the homework and study, you should get a decent grade.
Very strict and not willing to help very much. The class goes very fast. The material isn't so bad but definitely advise choosing a different teacher. If your a good test taker you should be fine and get a good grade.
Are you kidding me? The person below doesn't know what they're talking about. I love this lady, she's awesome! This class was a joke, I came out of the class with over 100%. Go to class and study a little. She's very helpful and makes sure you're well prepared for the final. Take her!

Pretty easy class. As long as you do your homework and study for quizzes/tests, you can definitely get an A. She goes through examples in detail so it's easy to understand. She also gives extra credit on quizzes/tests.
She can't say calculator!!!
Ms. Mersch is very clear when explaining concepts and makes the classes content easy to learn and understand.
She is so dumb
This class was really easy. Her Pip packet is helpful, and she explains thing well. But I totally agree....she cannot say calculator.
I took this class just to take it. I didn't need it at all but was interested in precalc. She made it impossible to enjoy! Even though I got an A, I loathe this woman. There are so many distractions in her class. I'm not sure what is wrong with her mouth but I was focused on it the whole time and couldn't even pay attention!! Please fix it!!
She may seem nice, but she's, in my opinoin a horrible teacher!!! She takes off points for the stupidest things, even if the answer is right!!!!! If you want your GPA to go up, DO NOT take her.. I had her for 2 semesters already... and i just can't take it anymore... also the examples we do in class, usually don't help you in hmwk or anything!!
i took her class first semester and it was very easy. i hardly went to class and just taught myself. the pip packet is very helpful. i dont know how much she uses the book now, but she gives out homework that you dont have to do, so if i were you, i wouldnt buy the book until you HAD to because they wont buy it back from you in the end
This class was easy. The PIP packet is the best thing she offers. Know that packet, because the quiz/test questions are pretty much the same. There is no mandatory homework and she gives extra credit.
I took her for precalc and I took AP calc in high school and solve problems differently then she did and she took points off because i didnt do it her way. She ridiculous and if possible avoid a semester of hell and dont take her.
She is an awesome teacher. The class is easy to understand as it is but she explains everything extremely well if you don't understand. However, it can get boring if you understand everything. Also she's a stickler on attendance on test days
This professor is eager to help. She always ask if you have questions and will do so when you need it. The class is a little difficult without studying.
One word: Mean.
She was alright. Class was boring but attendance wasn't mandatory. If you do not study for the tests you wont do well. The homework was not mandatory either. I never did any of it but I did study. Go to class and you will be ok.
Tests are usually pretty tricky and can be hard to understand. At the beginning of class she takes time to answer homework questions but sometimes doesn't answer them or to wait to ask again. I wouldn't choose her as a teacher if i took this class again. Attendance is not mandatory but helps.
Sharon Mersch is an awesome teacher! She is so nice and always open to help anyone who needs it! It is easy to see she enjoys teaching what she does, and I think she is very patient and explains things in an easy understandable way. The tests are a little tricky, she's just testing to see if you know your stuff in preparing for further math classes
Good teacher. Goes slow, lays everything out for you. This class will be easy if you do your homework and study. Her PIP packet was a great help. She's helpful too; I called her house the day before the final with a question and she helped me out.
I needed this one math class for my major. I feel she graded way too hard compared to other friends with other teachers. You can do the homework, show up to class, ask all the right questions and still not do well on the tests, because they are different from the examples in class. I would not advise her for someone who has a hard time with math.
She is terrible. I have never had a teacher blow off homework questions with the phrase "Go ask your neighbor." How do they know more than you? Maybe they have the same questions! I know we have limited time but you dont tell them to ask someone else!!!
Good teacher! Explains it well and gives handouts to study. Theres a lot of material so studying is a must. You can't appreciate a good math teacher unless you've had the worst...and she atleast explains it well. Does kinda make you feel stupid when ask a question in class though.
she's kind of snippy.
I dropped after a month & a half. I had straight A's in math in high school. I would completely understand what we would do in her class & the homework, but would get to the tests and fail. Nice lady, but tests are tricky; half of the class was failing when I dropped. Loved when students corrected her math when she made errors at the board everyday
Good teacher. Her PIP Packets were so helpful. If you do the homework, you should be fine. She is a very fair grader too! You have many opportunities for extra credit. You can tell that she enjoys what she does.
The test are pretty tricky, she explains everything. She gives a ton of extra credit opps. I ended the class with a 69% and she rounded me up, so I'm cool with her.
Extremely easy class! She gives you GOBS of opportunities for extra credit. All you have to do is show up to class and do your homework everyday. There's 4 tests, 4 quizzes, and 10 lab activities. I ended up with a 97% in the class and didn't even have to study for the final. Tests were really easy, I ended up with a 100% average on the tests.
She can be a bit annoying, but the tests are straight from her examples and reviews in the PIP packet. If you do the problems she gives you, the class will be pretty simple.
Pretty hard class do the homework and go to the lectures. The PIP packet she handed out was extremely helpful. She is always willing to help you outside of class. Lectures were not to bad coming from someone who hates math. Tests are VERY hard.
Good at explaining concepts, and when to apply them. She taught well, the only reason someone should do poorly in this class is because of bad math skill. PIP packet is really helpful. Also go to class and you'll do fine.
Very Annoying Teaching style. Boring as hell. Quizes- Easy piece of cake. Tests- much harder. Gives homework but doesnt make you turn it it. Lab activities are easy and good reviews for tests! Suggestion: Go to class try not to fall asleep. Easy A
Overall good teacher, but tends to explain things more than necessary and drag out certain units. Do homework and go to class and lab and you'll do fine. Gives extra credit, doesnt do much one on one time.
she is pretty helpful, and very organized. the lab and pip packet make this class pretty easy to follow along with. She has a good way of explaining new concepts, and frequently allows time for questions
If you attend all the classes, keep up with homework, attend the labs, and study you can easily earn an A in this class. She explains things very well and if you have a question I definitely recommend you get help because its there. The PIP packet she gives out has practices quizes and tests that help for exams and tests. She's very nice!
This teacher really knows what she is talking about. She helps to make the material very understandable. Can be a little snippy when answering a student's question though. I never did the recommended homework in this class, only the review problems at the end of each section before the quizzes and tests and I got an A.
terrible ANNOYING teacher... I've never been less motivated to try. I honestly don't even go to class anymore because I'd rather get a C than have to listen to her talk.
Attending class is a must for this teacher. I have only missed a couple this semester and it's easy to fall behind. Does not collect homework, clicker questions are given every day to participate and will probably be factored into grades at the end of the semester. Talks a lot..but explains things well.
Sharon is an ok teacher only because she is able to explain math concepts very well and she is nice. She makes her tests very complex, it is your best interest to do hw often, she has inconvienent office hrs and Problem sets suck.
I really did not like her. I'm not terrible at math, but when I came to her for help she was somewhat rude. She's also very hard to reach with her office hours and etc. Would not recommend her
This class is a joke to people who took any kind of advanced math classes in high school, but it can really suck for those who aren't good at math. I didn't go to class at least once a week, and I'm doing great. Don't go to her for help, she's terrible. Go to the Visor center or find someone whos good at math.
Not an impossible class. She moved VERY quickly in class and its hard to keep up if you start to struggle. her pip packet is helpful and its worth doing the hw. she is not very welcoming if you go to her for help she is more interested in sending you elsewhere but its not a waste of time to meet with her. there are free questions on every test.
The worst teacher I have ever had. She has no control over her classroom, and tries too hard to use technology. When it comes to asking her for help, get ready for a whole lot of attitude and a little guidance. If you can, save yourself and TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!
Just an okay teacher, if I'm honest. The class was basically a joke for anyone who had taken higher than Algebra II in high school, but for those who didn't, it might've been kinda challenging. She's a pretty fair teacher and the grading scale on tests is pretty cool, but she gets repetitive in her explanations of stuff.
Clear explanations, but overexplains things and constantly repeats the same information we already know. Class is very boring, but keep up with the homework, do the practice tests in the pip packet, and you should be fine.
worst teacher ever. she doesnt know how to help or teach if her life depended on it. drop the class if u get her i wish i did!!!!
She was a pretty good teacher. More importantly she was a great person. I could tell that if I went to her with a problem she would do all she could to help. She really cared about her students.
She is an excellent teacher. She is always willing to help, you just have to be willing to ask her for help. The pip packet she has you get makes learning in class a little difficult, but bearable, for those who prefer writing their own notes.
I have never had a worse math teacher.
mrs mersch was awesome. i had her for finite math and she helped me tons. the first test i took in that class i got a D and was super close to dropping the class, but i didn't. instead i went to her office hours and studied and pulled through and got an A in the class! just go to her office hours and you'll be golden!
Most annoying teacher I have ever met. If you take this class, it's generally easy. She takes clicker questions but doesnt count them for attendance. You only have to be there on test days basically and the tests are only 17 questions. Shes super annoying though and talks to you like your a 5 year old.
Difficult class and difficult tests, but a pretty all around decent/good professor. A or B if you put in the work.
Mersch really knows what she is talking about and explains well. Attendance is mandatory. If you do the review in the PIP packet and go to the review days, and do all the homework, you will get an A
She really knows what she's talking about and explains everything very well. Tests are a bit difficult, but you'll get an A or B if you put in a little work.
She is a Hottie who happens to know how to teach math with style and poise ;)
good teacher. class is very hard if you have not taken a stats class in highschool. work needs to be put in for the homework. and going to labs are mandatory. also i would say getting extra help with the study sessions is a must ! she moves too quickly in coarse and has un needed clicker points.
Literally the worst teacher I've ever had. She's no help when you go to her outside of class, she's rude, and she doesn't explain things at all.
WORST MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! People lie when you say you can pull off an A or a B in this class because that is not true i BARELY got a C. I went to every class and every lab. I would drop her early on if you struggle with math. save yourself the hassle
I would not suggest taking this class with her. If you are not that good at math, this will be hell. She is not helpful and many students struggle during this class. Find another teacher!!
Do not take her! She is the worst math teacher I have ever had. Took precalc my senior year and barely passed her class. There's no homework but that means the only grades are the test grades. She doesn't do review sessions and doesn't do an in class review. High expectations with no help! Avoid her at all costs! Drop it if your registered!
Mersch is a good math professor. She doesn't just hold your hand through each in class example - she picks you up, puts you on her back, and carries you up the stairs. It's a math class which means the probability of you getting an A increases as you study more and do the homework... A concept many reviewers here probably don't understand.
She's awful and rude and she laughed at me when I asked for help in her office. I wish she would be more helpful and count homework or something. This class isn't supposed to be THAT hard. I wish I would have not taken this and just done it online like I planned to. Get away while you still can.
Awesome teacher!!! Explains things in great detail and is willing to help with material outside of class. Nice personality but has an irritating voice after a while. Overall a good teacher.
Very helpful one-on-one. Sometimes, she didn't clarify herself which may be because I was in a giant lecture-hall and didn't ask very many questions because the class was huge. definitely good overall.
Understand that the math 120 class is so large at ISU that it operates like a machine and you are just a number. With that said, great professor works slowly through all steps of the problem and is always available to work one on one. Highly recommend!
Worst math teacher I have ever had. Goes way too fast, and if you don't get something or understand the way she does it good luck. Do not take her.
She might be a little sassy, but she isn't that bad of a teacher. She posts reviews and even past tests online which are very helpful. Not many teachers take the time to do this. She is not a bad teacher, the people who say she is are just bad at math.
She was a pretty good teacher, most of the time easy to understand. I had a little bit of trouble sometimes but hey you are about to take a college math class it's not all fun and games. I would recommend this teacher if you are willing to stay focused and on task like you should be for most college courses.
She is a horrible professor. She does not explain math problems thoroughly, her homework is over whelming and she grades harshly on tests. If you're not good at math or need good explainations DO NOT TAKE HER!
I'm not sure why everyone is grading her so low. I think Sharon is a fantastic math teacher! She teaches it at a very reasonable pace & dumbs things down very well. She also gives out helpful homework, offers lots of extra credit, & puts up the tests corrections with the problems worked out to see what you did wrong. I recommend her.
She is an awful teacher. Goes through the material at such a fast rate that no one can keep up. She is rude, doesn't offer help to any student, and is overall a bad educator. I am completely appalled that she still teaches this class, so bad.
Everyone who took this class with a different teacher thought that it was really easy. I did awful in this class because Sharon completely tricks you on the test questions. Avoid her at all costs, I struggled to pass the class and I usually get A's in math classes.
Class sucks but it's easy if you're not brain dead. Just go to tutoring if you're having trouble honestly.
She taught things in multiple ways and was very clear with what she expected from the students. Difficult material that could have been much harder with a bad teacher. I would definitively want her as a teacher again in the future.
Mrs Mersch was an excellent teacher. The class was a large lecture and the assignments and tests are tough. This is a college math class. Do not expect to skip class and show up for the mid term and final. You'll need to apply yourself and do your homework. The negative feedback on this site is most likely from students who hate math.
For MAT 120, I spent a colossal amount of time attending all of the lectures, paying attention, taking a copious amount of notes, attending tutoring, completing all of the non-mandatory homework, asking questions, reviewing, and reading. However, I am currently failing her class. The material she provides does not correlate with her tests.
Such a sweetheart!one of the best teachers I have had at ISU so far. Its challenging, but, she provides tons of extra help for each chapter, explains it well, and the lab activities really do help a lot. If you go to her for help, she will do everything she can to help you. An A is definitely possible if you are willing do the homework and study.
I think she's such a sweetheart and whenever you need help she'll help you in office hours. However if math is not your subject that you understand well do not take her! I love math and find myself sort of struggling because she moves so quick and sometimes we're left behind. She's a good teacher but moves to quick and the material is kind of tough
Mrs. Mersch is a good teacher, but she talks and does the problems very quickly. She uses her own binder handout which is very convenient for the class. You will have to go to class because there are clicker questions. The wording on the tests is confusing sometimes. She is very helpful and has a two hour review for the final the week of the test.
She is good an engaging student and is good at helping you understand all the material before the exams. She also makes it possible to get the grade that you want.
Just like a high school math class. She prints off the notes, you fill them in, she gives you (optional) homework and then a mock test (which is just like the real one). Very nice lady and as long as you go to class and do the practice she provides, you won't even need to do the homework to get an A.
Mersch is a nice lady, but she really isn't great at explaining material. You have to go to tutoring, and self study. 17 question tests so theres little room for error, with a 2% curve. Clicker points count for extra credit at the end of the sem. and can raise your grade about 1-2% if you show up and click in. Not an easy class, you need to work.
The tests were super hard but honestly she was an amazing teacher, so as long as you study, you'll be okay. Just 100% study. Don't ever put off homework til the next day because then you'll end up doing all your homework at the end of the week and just don't.
I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing... DON'T TAKE HER
I loved Mrs. Mersch so much! The class is definitely one of the hardest classes I've taken at ISU because you truly do have to work for it. I failed one of her tests during the semester but worked my ass off and got an A in the class. There are 5 tests, multiple choice, only 17 questions. Gives clicker extra credit. GO TO CLASS!!!
Not good at math and a bad test taker? Don't take her. Out of 850 total points earned for the class, 500 are from the 5 tests (17 questions total on each), 50 from a quiz, and 200 from the final exam. That's 750/850 total points from tests. You get extra credit by participating (correctly) with a click, but that may help raise 1-2% of your grade.
Great professor! Do all homeworks on time and you get solid A.
She is a great professor. Really knows what she is talking about. Go to class every day, pay attention, take good notes, and STUDY for tests. They are worth the majority of the grade. The lab activities help raise your grade, so make sure you check work with the TA before leaving. Loved this class and the material. Really enjoyed this course.
People who rate her poorly are the same people who don't show up but expect good grades. She's a great professor! She offers extra credit clicker points which total into your grade at the end of the semester (brought my B up to an A so SHOW UP TO CLASS AND CLICK IN). I literally have an A and have never been good at math.
Good math teacher explains the materiel well and awards going to class with extra credit.
Professor Mersch was truly a great professor. She went through problems at a reasonable pace, and always had examples that lined up with the tests. The tests are only 17 questions and as long as you study they're not too bad at all. She also gives out up to 25 extra credit points for clicker questions. Go to class! She's really sweet.
As long as you go to class and pay attention you'll pass; uses clickers, puts all the points in at the end of semester for extra credit.
The material builds up if you dont get it in the beginning then its best you drop the class early instead of keep failing. She is nice and works through during office hours but she moves super fast during lecture. Ive never gotten an F until i got in her class.
I have mixed feelings about this woman, but honestly she needs some work. I was a little frustrated at the beginning of class because the textbook we "need" we don't use, and the "optional" stuff we are required to use every day. Rushes through notes and lectures, doesn't always explain her work, but outside of class she's a decently sweet woman.
This is my second time taking this course with Sharon. I chose her again because overall shes a good teacher and she knows her stuff. She always willing to help you figure out a problem if need. This semester she added web assign which is VERY HELPFUL. Plus she gives extra credit if you show up to class.
At first I didn't really care for Sherry, but getting to know her she's actually a very sweet woman. This math class is VERY tough for the first two units, but afterwards it gets easier. Don't fall behind; it'll be almost impossible to come back. Don't buy the book, just buy the pip packet. Do the web assign and clicker questions- it's extra credit
This class is a huge lecture. Tests are nothing like the practice tests. If you don't show up, its hard to understand the lessons. Homework is online which is easy to cheat but hard to understand the concept. She takes off points for things like not putting the correct seat number down. If you like smaller class sizes don't take her as a teacher.
You dont have to show up, but I recommend so for clicker points. You dont use any physical textbook, but you need a webassign subscription and clicker. As long as you somewhat try and do the homework (which is easy), youll get an A or B.
If you tested well above MAT120 but still have to take it, this class is a breeze. But if math isn't your cup of tea, she's not the best teacher. Almost all the points are tests. Attendance is not mandatory but you get no extra credit if you don't go. If math is not your thing, it will be hard to pass if you skip. Lecture is boring and fast paced.
If you go to class, pay attention, and do the homework, it's not a hard class. Going to class you get extra credit points and those help a lot. She's the best Math 120 professors. Her notes are easy to follow and she does a lot of examples in class. The beginning of the semester is harder but it gets easier. Just go to class and you'll be fine.
Mrs. Mersch was a great professor. All of our notes were pre-printed out so it was easy to go back and understand what we learned in class. She also gives out clicker extra credit which was nice. Show up to class and pay attention and you should do fine.
Show up to class and pay attention. Finished with 100% in the class, all of the homework is required and it is online through Cengage. Easy A.
love this proff. I am not naturally good at math and I felt very supported in this course. she makes you aware of all the resources available to you. I used all the materials she had us buy at the beginning of the semester. She is very approachable and makes content easy to understand with repetition of practice problems.
Professor Mersch was my favorite professor! I had her my first semester of college, and if I didnt have her for this class then I believe it wouldve been a lot harder! Shes so nice and understanding! Also, she really knows what shes talking about and explains everything really well! Highly recommend her
Mrs Mersch is a very caring teacher. I was pretty nervous because I struggle with math. But her teaching style was the most helpful out of all the math instructors that I have taken in the past. She is always available for help outside of class and responds very quickly to emails. She does offer a few opportunities for extra credit.
She is overall a good teacher and makes prerecorded videos. She makes review zoom meetings before the test which help. she allows you to take the quizzes twice. But if you have problems during a test you must message her during the test otherwise she says she cant help you. Shes always answers as fast as she cans and is available for help.
Great professor. I had her online course because of covid and everything. Her recorded lectures are super easy to follow along with, she explains every problem very well. If you watch the lectures, do the homework, you set yourself up very well to score high on the tests and quizzes. Does a really nice job with reviews for tests and quizzes too
Overall, I liked her a lot. I would just say to do all of the work you have to do from the jump to stay on top of things. Tests pretty much cover everything you've done. There won't be any surprises. For the final, go over all of the tests to study. She also has review sessions frequently and always available for you!
Mrs. Mersch was an amazing professor! Class is very straightforward, and there are no surprises. I struggle in math a lot, so mat120 was more difficult for me than most people, but Mrs. Mersch is very understanding and super helpful. She is also very good at thoroughly explaining the material. Just do your work on time! She is strict on deadlines.
Video lesson and homework for this class everyday, very time consuming.
Ms. Merch was great!! She does give you homework everyday that she expects you to complete but its not too bad if you watch her Zoom lectures. She wants all of her students to succeed and makes herself available for all of her students if help is needed. No surprises ever on quizzes or exams. Study and youll pass forsure!!
I cannot stress how caring she is. She makes sure every student is understanding the material. We have multiple reviews with her and the TA. You always receive feedback on what is wrong. Also, we take weekly quizzes which REALLY helps. You know each week what material you need to practice more. Knows exactly how to explain the material to students!
I normally struggle at math, unless I have a good teacher. Mersch is genuinely an amazing teacher. For being average at math AND taking it online, I passed with an A. Her lectures help because she explains everything in detail. If I didnt understand something, because I was online, Id just rewatch the lecture video. You could contact her too!
lectures were prerecorded and all posted ahead of time. she is incredibly clear and her lectures are very easy to understand. weabsign due twice a week and you had multiple tries to get the correct answer so it was very easy to get full credit. labs were just quiz questions and the weekly quizzes had 2 attempts. easy a
I really loved the teacher, but the class itself was intense with loads of homework, quizzes, and tests that covered a lot of material. Her recorded lectures are great and the office hours helped tremendously. She quickly responds to emails and is always willing to host personal office hours sessions if you ask.
Professor Mersch was hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. I have always struggled with math all through high school, and had concerns going into this class, but she made me truly understand the material. She made me actually start to like math, which is a first for me. I definitely recommend!
She is a really great professor, attendance isnt required and lectures are posted online. It is a bit time consuming with daily assignments and weekly quizzes. She drops 1 exam of 4 and 2 quizzes. Pretty easy class if youre good at math, even if you arent she explains things really well. Study guides are also helpful for exams but not required.
She is a really good choice for MAT 120. All of her material was very organized and prepared. She posts all lectures online, so going to class isnt mandatory. She gives review material and if you do it, you will do great on the tests. Just doing the assignments and worksheets and its an easy class. Also offers many opportunities for help.
Best math teacher I have had in a while. Lectures are posted online so you do not have to go to class. Lectures are super easy to understand and the way class is set up helps a lot as she is super organized. If you can get her as a teacher I highly recommend, she answers questions greatly and respectfully.
Probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She posts all the lectures online for you to use, so if you have this class at 8am like I did you don't need to show up and you can watch the lectures online instead. Her lectures are very clear and easy to follow along with and she does a great job explaining tough concepts.
This class is structured very well. Shes organized and straightforward. During class youll follow along and fill out premade notes. Homework after each class, quizzes once a week, tests about once a month. Drops your worst grade(s) in each of those categories. Easiest math class Ive ever taken.
Professor Mersch is absolutely amazing! She has very straightforward lectures and wants all her students to succeed. There are 4 tests (drops the lowest grade), weekly quizzes, and homework after every class (not bad). If you want an A, go to class, print out the notes packets and follow along in class, and ask questions!! She is very nice!!! 10/10
Sharon was a great teacher!! The course was extremely well structured with her note guides that followed perfectly with the lectures. There is daily homework, weekly quizzes, and 4 big tests, but she drops the lowest grades in each category. Sharon gives you all the tools to pass MAT 120. I highly recommended her if you need to take this course!!
Such a fantastic teacher. A literal GOAT. There are handouts for each lesson that she follows along with and if you miss a class she has awesome pre-recorded videos. Both in person and online lessons are extremely easy to follow along with. It was like having your mom sit down and easily and patiently explain math to you. Highly recommended
She did such a good job. The lesson handouts were easy to follow and they matched the homework really well. Also, if you can't make it to class there are pre-recorded videos that show exactly what she would've taught in class. You can tell she cares because she would ask us questions to get to know us and wants to see us do well. Highly recommend!
On the first day of class, I was really nervous that she was going to be very stingy, critical, and to be honest, boring. However, I was thankfully proven wrong as quick as we had our first day of content. Her notes are very concise, easy to understand, and very beneficial to use on homework assignments and quizzes. She's very easy to talk to.
Professor Mersch was a very kind instructor and I feel like I had the best possible teacher for MAT120. there was homework everyday after class and a weekly quiz but they very manageable. she provided quiz and test reviews with the solutions as well and she does spend a good amount of time reviewing for tests and the final.
Makes it clear in the first class what she expects from you. She gives every opportunity to get help if you are struggling, and it makes it a point to give extra credit at the end of the semester to ensure everyone gets the grade they want. Very clear and detailed lectures. Frequent quizzes and homework, but all are easy.
Professor Mersch was the best. I ended up getting a A+ in her class and a perfect score on the final. Her homework and class-work problems are more difficult than the ones on the exams and final, so if you did all of your outside and in class work, you will do fine on the tests.
Professor Mersch was incredible - her structured approach and personalized support made MAT120 surprisingly manageable. Combining the note packets, pre-recorded lessons, and tools like unstuck ai for study prep, I was able to excel in the class. Highly recommend!
