Sure, you are in good hand
Good Instructor. Very helpful.
This was a summer school class and she just wasn't into teaching it. When people would be confused on a concept, she would get frustrated and say "but it's so easy." Also, her tests were unfair although she did give us lots of extra credit to

Nice lady but not a people person. Expect to cover concepts fast, and get used to a thick accent.
This woman is without a doubt one of the worst teachers I have run into. She writes the wrong info on the board and won't listen when you tell her; her tests are IMPOSSIBLE. She does not explain things properly. Over half the class failed and 1/3 dropped
she really likes her students and you can tell, but maybe she is too smart because she moves quickly and people have a hard time following here..not too helpful when youre in a bind but she likes you a lot when you show effort.
Had to work to understand what she was trying to teach.. a nice enough lady with lots of EC chances, but slightly elitist... doesn't understand when students dont get a concept on the first day..
She taught the first half of a summer calculus class. She went very fast, not giving us much time to catch on to the concepts. Her tests are extremely difficult with little or no partial credit given. Avoid unless you are looking for a challenge.
If you ask a question she doesn't want to answer. Very proud, and very hard to work with. I don't think anyone in my class likes her.
The class is fast, to understand you have to keep up to pace. i have trouble understanding her, she has a very thick accent. Test are hard. do your homework, it will kill you if you don't.
BAD! BAD! BAD! ALL WILL FAIL!
She is a great instructor. She is very interested in you learning the subject. She does cover a lot of material - but that is because you will need to know the material for the next class. She does have a thick accent, but once use to it - it's not so bad
It seems as though it's very difficult to find a good math teacher and Gupta is no exception. She doesn't explain the concepts very well nor is she easy to understand with her thick accent. She's also not very fun or charming. Find another teacher.
Can you spell confusion? That is "the word" to describe her teaching. She doesn't explain things very clearly, makes several mistakes when explaining a problem, gets confused, gets lost, words the problems in an absurd way...

Talk about bad english, "whether it will come a rain, or whether it wont come a rain" hahaha. I think she needs take an english class hahahaha.
She is a very good instructor. She covers all the topics and is willing to go out of her way to explain things you don't understand.
Gupta is an es A. She gives so much extra credit, that as long a you do the homeowrk, which I know is tough for us college kids, that you hsould be able to get a solid grade pretty easily. She's just trying to help, so get past her accent and she's actually a good professor.
Prof Gupta is a very easy teacher...if you go to class and pay attention. Her tests are multiple choice and twice this semester we have been given the actual test as a practice. If you do the practice tests and handouts, you should do well in this class

Her accent is quite thick and she words things oddly- couldn't understand her. She patterns her writing after the mad chicken scratches of Einstein- couldn't read her writing. If you're already a wiz at math, you MIGHT do okay. If not, forget it.
She gets confused easy with all that notes she has to explain but can be helpful.
Explains material well, slight Accent but not a problem. She gives pre tests before the test. For the test she only changes the numbers from the pracite test.
doesn't explain in deatail that good. I agree with the comment that if you are already a math whiz then you will do good, but if not forget it. blames other people for her bad teaching.
the name says it all, GUPTA!
She is the best.I am an ESL student and when I toke her class,it was my first semester in this college.I toke math 120 and two other ESL classes. She is an easy teacher and getting an A is like a piece of cake. She was so easy to understand and I got an A in her class. You have to just do your homework regulary and pay attention while she is teaching.
You can not understand her when she takes and she does not care about what your having problems with. I was very unhappy with her and re-taking the class with another instructor who i can understand and who actually helps me with my problems.
I could NOT understand her at all! Her accent is very heavy, she faces away from the class while instructing, and taught with a projector so the LIGHTS WERE OFF! 4 cups of coffee didn't even keep me awake in her class (and I'm half-certain I got a B instead of an A because of it).
I could not understand half the words she said. I dropped to take the 'online' course. Much easier and at your own pace.
REAL easy. At first I was having problems, but she is really willing to help her students during her office hours. She is a little hard to understand, but not too bad. Keep up with the homework and you'll be fine. I aced all the tests... and thats a first for me
If you can understand her speech, you will do just fine.
Her accent was a bit hard to follow, but once you get past it, you'll learn so much. Allows note card(s) for some tests. Most tests are multiple choice or written out. Offers alot of extra credit. Every other quiz is worth extra credit.

Mrs. Gupta is such a nice and fun teacher...she is always up for a math joke..!
VERY VERY hard to understand her I dropped after half way through the first class!
Prof Gupta is the bomb. Yes, her accent is confusing for the first few classes but you get used to it and she is very helpful and very kind. She is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. Lots of extra credit opportunities in her class but the A is not too easy. The perfect combo!
She is hard to understand with her accent. In my class she played favorites, the pretests were not helpful. Also if I had a question during class she sid to see her after class but then she was to busy for her students. The only ways to pass her class is to be a math wiz, and to become one of her favorites.
She goes waaaay too slow for my pace...but thats because I already took the course in h.s. If it were a new subject I would say that she would be a great teacher....she gives pre-tests before all the tests...and the tests are almost exact copies of the handout she gives the day before. Also, the tests are mult. choice...makes it really easy...
Hands down the best Math professor I have had at ARC. Breaks down the concepts into easy to follow/understand steps. Accent is a non-issue after the first week of class. Recommend her to anyone I know who will be taking the Calculus series.
she is cool, all exams are multiply choice questions and she gives bonus work related activities.
Great teacher explains things very well. After first class the you get used to the accent and it is a non-issue
Tests are easy, but alittle hard to understand
She is an exellent teacher. I loved her way of explanation. If you are quick learner, she is the teacher you need..
I took this class before looking at her rating, and I have to say I am shocked at her score. She is a phenomenal teacher. She makes things easy to understand, and if you still didn't understand something she has office hours. She really cares about her students and wants you to pass. If you do all your work and ask questions you'll do great.
MRS. GUPTA IS AN AWESOME TEACHER! I DONT KNOW WHY EVERYONE SAYS THAT HER ACCENT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND AND THAT SHE DOES NOT EXPLAIN THINGS VERY WELL. JUST DO THE HOMEWORK AND SHOW UP FOR CLASS, SHE DOESNT EXPECT THAT MUCH. SHE ALSO GIVES PRACTICE TESTS THAT ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE TEST AND SHE WILL DROP ONE TEST GRADE. EASY CLASS. I GOT A B+
She teaches way too fast and makes problems that not even tutors can solve!
She is an awful teacher. She brags about helping all these students then you ask her for help and she bites of your head and tells you that you are not paying attention. She says it is all easy work (well, duh you're a math teacher its easy for you!) NOT so easy for everyone else. She DEFINATLEY plays favorites if you're not one of em good luck!
She is extremely gifted in math. Don't get on her bad side or ask stupid questions or she'll chew you out hardcore. The semester is really easy until chapter 6 and then she begins to rush through the material and that's when it is most challenging. I had a great time in her class and would recommend her for the more advanced math student.
She has a hella big accent. It's very hard to understrand her. Also, she rushes through assignments and teaches us some stuff we don't have in our textbook.
Dont take her.
Ok, so I took AP STATS and CALC in highschool, have never gotten less than an A in any math class, yet I found myself getting a C- prior to the final and barely raising to a B-. She is WORTHLESS as a teacher, she copies straight out of the book for notes, doesn't teach how to use the calculator, and gives tests on material NOT COVERED!
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS, IF you do youll just catch yourself wondering why the hell you did, all semester long
doesn't like to explain anything, when people asks questions in class about assignment she only explains a portion of the assignment and asks if you got it then moves on. Plus she makes you keep a binder with organization which she grades you on.
I was taking this class with my brother just to help him out but I already knew this math. But if I was taking her for the first time I would be LOST. I was her favorite just because I knew everything. The people who asked a lot of questions were usually yelled at. She never admitted when she was wrong either.
she is a terrible teacher! she ends up arguing with many students in the class because they dont get something. I had to use the text book instead of listen to her lectures. She does give out a LOT of extra credit, but that is the only good thing about her class.
Very thick accent and hard to understand. She does not clearly explain concepts and you leave the class feeling "lost". I wish the substitute we had would have taken over for the rest of the semester. Oh yeah make sure you don't have any questions, she doesn't like those. There was one good thing, all of test were multiple choice.
Great Teacher, she does have an accent but its not that hard to understand. Honestly as long as you show up and do your work you'll get an A. Tests are pretty easy considering she gives practice tests that look just like her real tests and they are also pretty much open note because she gives you cheat sheets at the begining of the semester with al
Mrs. Gupta is gifted. She is smart, kind and helpful. She keeps a good pace in the class and gets everyone envolved. She brings fun to Pre Calculus. There is a lot of homework requirement, but that is what prepares a student for the tests and I am getting good grades. Her accent is not bad at all and it probably bothers those that are closed minded
Gupta is a great teacher. Hard to understand at first but you get used to it. She has a gift for teaching. I hate math, but I got an A in her class. The important thing is attendance and homework. If you want to learn and get a good grade, I recommend Gupta.
she is super hard to understand..ull get a headache from straining to understand her. She uses a projector but u cant read her writting and she stands in the way of it. There is ALOT of bussy work. I dropped it after 2 days cuz the subject was to easy..but dont take her. If you ask for help she gets mad and an attitude..and doesnt answer.
Mrs. Gupta is definitely a gifted person. She a a PHD for goodness sakes! She WILL help you as much as you need it. Yes she does have an accent, but she is definitely not difficult to understand, unless you are close minded and automatically shut ppl off who have an accent. All of her tests and quizzes are multiple choice which is a big plus!
one of the best teachers you can have very helpful and really explains the concepts. She gives good notes and as long you attend class everyday, do in class practice problems and take notes you will pass her class.
i could see how some people thought she was hard to understand at first but you quickly get used to it. she is a great teacher, she really wants all her students to pass. i'm not good at math what so ever but with her help i got an A in her class. my first A since 7th grade. i would recommend her to anybody.
She is very hard to understand, and no, you don't ever get over it. She is not helpful and when you ask her why, she will say "because this is what you do," not answering your question. THIS WOMAN IS A FAVORITIST! Be warned! She is not helpful AT ALL! She teaches one way of doing a problem without considering that everyone may not get that one way.
Very hard to understand in the begining, she talks as if she doesn't have an accent. You take ALOT of notes, but for the most part they are helpful. Quizes and Tests weren't so bad.
She definitely has an accent, but isn't too tough to understand. Very very poor job of following the syllabus, gives a lot of pointless busy work, shows very obvious favoritism, and is not understanding at all to peoples' other priorities, such as a job. Her class isn't very hard, but I think if you can avoid this professor, then you should.
Dr. Gupta is an excellent teacher. I would highly recommend her if your serious about learning math. Her classes aren't the easiest, but you do learn a lot. As far as the accent goes, it's not a problem.
this class seemed very hard to me because i am really not good with math. but i liked this class because i got a B in it thanks to the curve at the end. Quizzes are open book :)
She explains the concepts WHILE she's writing notes on the board, you have to write fast to get down everything she is going over... by the times you've caught up with her, she's already moving onto the next section and says you should have paid attention to her incomprehnsible lecture despite the amount of time it takes to follow her notes.
Ive took this class in H.S & Im glad I did, because if not i would have been so LOST because she moves at such fast pace. She does play favorites & attendance is important. I was sick and had a doctors note & she did not accept it because she thought it was a fake letter. It had a sutter west letterhead..
DO NOT TAKE HER! Unfortunately I listened to those who said she was cool, she is NOT cool! She told me she makes the tests hard so no one will get 100. She puts things on the tests/quizzes that aren't covered in class. If you ask her to explain a concept all she says is, "Because that's how it's done."Good luck understanding her jibberish!
DO NOT TAKE HER! Unfortunately I listened to those who said she was cool, she is NOT cool! She told me she makes the tests hard so no one will get 100. She puts things on the tests/quizzes that aren't covered in class, and good luck understanding her jibberish! She makes you feel stupid by saying, "This is so easy," after every concept. AVOID HER!!
STAY AWAY!! Horrible professor! I had zero problems with math until her. She says she is willing to help, but when I asked her to do a few problems she said,"Pick one I'm not doing them all!"She is rude, confusing, impossible to understand, and quite possibly the worst professor I have ever had!I believed the good reviews, don't make the same mistake
Gives step by step notes, but class seems to last forever. Many extra credit opportunities. Some tests more difficult then others but you throw out your lowest score. Accumulative final worth 20% of your grade
This teacher will save your life in algebra. She will work overtime just to make sure you understand. I can't say enough about how much she cares for her students. I could not understand algebra until I took her class.
If you know that you need a teacher to guide you on every step in order to understand something then don't take gupta. she's extremely helpful, but if you dont get it after she attempts to help you many times, she will get frustrated. she gets mad when students get mad at her. i believe she is always clear & very helpful even with her accent.
Professor Gupta was awesome. She starts out as the most intimidating, intelligent math teacher there is. She gives an entrance quiz that is very intimidating and is used to 'scare' people away to get the numbers down. It almost worked. The homework is very long, but she gives excellent instruction and lot's of extra credit. Great teacher.
NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!She is rude and gets mad at you when you do not understand a problem. Her lectures don't make any sense, I just used the text and did my work in class. Horrible RUDE PROFESSOR!!
I loved this professor. She has a teaching style that worked well with my learning style. I had no problems contacting her through her email.
She's really nice, but does get frustrated by students that ask for help before trying to work out problems on their own first. I'm not happy I have to take calculus for my Computer Science major, but as much as I hate math, Gupta's a fairly good teacher. She doesn't do many proofs and her tests are multiple choice. Easy. I'm getting an A.
I took this teacher SPRING2010, horrible. Rude, she has a accent which is hard to understand. Teaching style is hard to follow. But if your willing to put time into the class and do all the problems, then take her. I received a, F.
I took Intermediate Algebra with Prof Gupta. Initially, I found her hard to understand and fast paced but as long as you pay attention and try to learn the material, you won't have a problem. She's very helpful. I went into her office hours numerous times and I think my desire to learn is what got me an A.
Wow, some people on here really don't know what they are talking about. I LOVED Professor Gupta's class. Shes one of the best math teachers I have ever had, and is extremely intelligent. She has a different kind of humor that you have to pick up on, but she keeps the class entertaining. I highly recommend taking her class, you will not regret it!
Professor Gupta was a really great professor. Easy to understand, and gave real life application examples. If you do the review sheets and pay attention is class there is no way you won't do well. Went to her office hours and she was amazingly helpful and shared treats. :) Take her class and you won't regret it, she really cares about her students!
I love professor Gupta, she is intelligent and very helpful. Her tests are about 20 questions and multiple choice they are not hard. If you do all the homework then you will do well in her class. She also drops a couple quizzes and a test. Extra credit is also available if you solve equations on the board. :)
I liked her as a professor. I found her very easy. Her tests and quizzes are easy also. But she does take too much time in going over easy topics.
Shes really nice and smart and cares about her students. But had to drop class because i could barely understand what she was saying. And walks you through the problems but doenst take to much time and doesnt examples.
She was super nice if you had a question, but at times she was hard to understand. Homework is all in the book. You don't "need" to go to class, but you will be lost if you don't. Class is easy if you study and do all of your homework. However I would not take her again.
Dr. Gupta is sweet and caring but not a pushover. She is very available to go over anything students need more help with. Practice sheets are very similar to actual exam. Work every assigned problem, make sure you understand each one, and you will get an A. Highly recommend.
Professor Gupta presented all of the material clearly. Students were given the opportunity to work independently as well as in groups. All of the material found on the exams and quizzes was presented in class. Great job overall.
At first she's hard to understand. DO NOT take this class if you're not good at math. She expects it to come easy to everyone. She goes over easy topics slow and hard topics very fast. She doesn't give you time for the topic to "sink in." If you enjoy math, take her. If math is difficult for you DO NOT.
Gupta is extremely helpful and very easy to understand. I loved her class. She drops lowest test/quiz grades, tests and quizzes were multiple-choice + show work. Lots of homework, do it, it will really help you get that A. No excuse not to pass this class with the amount resources available to students, tutoring in LRC and office hours w/Gupta.
Her accent is very heavy and she teaches way too fast wouldnt reccomend her
Gupta is awesome! She does move kind of fast and has an accent, but you get used to it. She give you a formula card with anything from a past math class on it. She drops 3 quizzes and one test, and offers a ton of extra credit. Do the homework and the handouts and this class is an easy A!!
While she's nice, she goes too fast and won't answer some math questions if she feels she went over it thoroughly. 5 question quiz after each chapter, harder than you think! Exams have a mixture of easy and hard questions, multiple choice, show your work or no points!
Good professor lots of extra credit. very chill
This class is the easiest A+ you'll ever get in your life. I can't believe how much extra credit I got just for doing homework, attendance, taking notes, and participation. My final score was 108%, I got full marks on all exams/quizzes.I strongly recommend her. She's very helpful as well.I will definitely enroll in her Math400 next semester. Fadi A.
Great professor. She makes it so easy. She explains everything very good. I really enjoyed this class. don't afraid take her she is on of the best math professors.
She can be very hard to understand at first, but like any accent, it is much easier to understand after a couple of weeks. Her methods for simplifying problems really blew my mind, and I could not figure out why I had never heard any of them from any other teachers or professors before.
She is impossible to understand and refuses to answer questions. She says things in a harsh tone like, "It's so easy. If you don't understand see me in my office hour." She offers a lot of extra credit so you can pass the class if you don't understand anything, but don't take her if you want to go on to calc 2.
Can be challenging. She counts 3 of 4 tests, and 7 of 10 quizzes. The final was worth 31.8% of your grade. If you put the time in and learn what to look for then you'll do fine.
Overall, a good teacher. Though there were many time I had trouble understanding her because of her accent. Homework every day, we used the book a lot. Questions on the handouts were usually found on the quizzes & tests. Don't skip on attendance! She took roll throughout the whole semester and was actively dropping students.
Such an awesome teacher! Teaches everything so clearly! And brings snacks ^.^
Professor Gupta was nice and has a calm teaching method. She applied problems to real world scenarios. She gave tests that relate to what we had learned and gave the opportunity to earn extra credit. She rewarded the class with the best homemade cookies I have ever had. The only drawback was her accent, which took some time to get used to.
I took this professor for both precal and calc 1. I would highly recommend her. She assigns a lot of homework, but her exams are based off of all the practice problems in class. She allows you to use a calculator on exams and provides you with formula cards. She gives out extra credit problems and is always helpful if you go to office hrs.
Very nice professor, but I don't need nice I need a professor who makes things easy and clear to learn. I've struggled with math my whole life and was hopeful about this professor based on reviews on here, but I found her hard to understand (not because of her accent). I feel like she tries to make things simple but instead she confuses everyone
I took pre cal and cal one with her. I love the way she teach es the class, and if you do your home work and study her quizzes you can easily pass her class with grade of b or better.
I'm usually good at math but wasted a semester with her. Didn't learn anything, forgot all i knew, survived on what i knew and could figure out on the internet. Has an attitude. Makes easy algebra so complicated that it seems like a foreign language. Practice tests are nothing like the actual tests. Every one i met and had her complained about her
So: people look at the homework volume and at the % of the grade it's worth (lots, & 6%), then don't do it. She's a lenient teacher- tests are multiple choice, she offers extra credit, formula sheets, doesn't care what calculator you use. But the reviews are very DIY, so do homework or you'll get bad test scores. C on the final, but A due to HW.
You will not understand her accent. She doesn't understand how to teach math. does a problem all over the board split up and unorganized talks really fast. She like to show off that she can do the maths faster than her students, she will leave you in the dust.
Learned almost nothing. Easy to figure out tests until the final that has nothing to do with the review. Eight chapters and 7 of the 20 questions on the final are from the last chapter. Oh, and it's 33% of your grade. Doing good all semester? Gotcha!
She goes incredibly quick. Do not take unless you can make your own logical connections. She does not do the "Baby" steps. "You should've learned that in your 100 class," is what I hear when I ask for a reminder.
Took 2 of her classes. Tests and quizzes multiple choice. Lectures are long and says she's happy to explain for us, but then says she won't spend time going over problems. Pre-writes all notes and problems and you'll spend most of your time copying notes rather than learning. Easy A but you won't learn / have a good math foundation.
She's my best professor this semester, but if you haven't taken some sort of course similar to Algebra 2 before this class, then READ AHEAD in the textbook or it'll seem like she is going too fast in her lecture. Lectures are long, but very helpful. Has an accent, but easy to understand. Very nice, and will help with anything you don't understand.
she will answer any questions you have until you get it. Her syllabus is precise and you know what to expect. Gives extra credit and drops 1 test and 2 quizzes. Even allows formula cards shes made for you on the tests. Quizzes are open book. Study, do the homework, go to class and unless you just sit there you will pass.
She is the wrost teacher ever. Never takes her tests in the DSPS. she is not a fair teacher and just subborn.
Started the class with a D, ended with an A. She is very passionate about math and loves to teach it! Math is hard to grasp, but she offers help . She can't do all the work for you, but she does push and encourage you towards pushing yourself. Her teaches kind of fast, the syllabus is key to everything, and she brings you donuts.
Best professors you will ever take. She cares alot about her students
I love her! She is a very caring professor. Make sure to do your hw ahead of time, so that you can have time to study for exams. Her teaching is very CLEAR: she show you steps of how to solve the problems. I don't know if she still teaches this Fall, b/c I would LOVE to have her again!S
