This was my first online course. Prof Smith was extremely helpful. She responded quickly to emails and helped me figure out how to study and succeed.
Professor Smith helped me through this class from the beginning. I had a lot of personal issues this course and she helped me through it. She was understanding to what I had going on. I've taken a few online courses and by far this was the best online experience to date. A personal thank you for the help along the way!!!
Very large amount of homework, but in the end it helps you know your information.
Because this course was online and a summer course, it was very fast-paced. I appreciated the important reminders dealing with the big ticket assignments and exams.
Great Professor, was my first time taking course. I recommend reading the syllabus thoroughly and do all your work!
I took her online class, which meant I actually had to read the text book. The assignments were pretty easy if you read the the text book. She also sends reminders of home work being due soon.
I took the class during the summer as an 8 week class. The work load was very easy to handle if you stay on top of it. Assignment were graded quickly excellent feedback that helped me study for exam. I would highly recommend Professor Smith.
Flexibility of due assignments is very refreshing
I like this Professor. I know that she doesn't have total control over the course design and how exams should be made, but she still gave me chances of retaking the midterm exam. I hope somewhere in the future IT instructors can put all the textbook words on the blackboard assignments. Remember guys most exam questions are not from blackboard.
I took her 8 weeks online class. Easy grader and pretty easy to follow her instruction on blackboard.
I took the class online. Everything is good except the chapter reviews questions.
The professor is laid back, I didn't score to well on Mid Term Examination and was allowed to retake it for a better grade. Provided study guides for both Mid Term and Final Exam. HW is all based off the book and discussion boards. Definitely will take her class again
Go for her she is the best
Easy Grader. Would recommend taking her. Homework is bearable and quizes are what you read from the textbook. Mid-term and final exam. There is a study guided provided. Study it and you'll do fine. Overall, good class
Very solid professor, understandable, good solid feedback, fair. Might take another class with her during the fall.
Awesome class to take. I recommend it.
I was going through alot this past year and she still let me take my midterm late. I was so happy when she said I could take it at a later time whenever I was ready.
Professor Smith is clearly passionate about the subject of Network Security, Authentication, and Security. Be prepared to read at the community college level as there is a lot of information to digest. The homework assignments are long and require a good deal of effort but will prepare you to understand the subject and perform well on the exams.
This class consisted of a lot of homework. When needing assistance with assignments, It took days to receive a response from the professor. Overall, The class wasn't bad. Mostly time consuming with needing to complete all of the review question assignments.
This was an online class. Had very little interaction with the professor so cannot give a rating for feedback from her . This was an 8 week course. Expect 2 chapters with end of chapters questions, 2 quizzes and a discussion question almost every week. Professor allowed retake for midterm for students who did not pass.
Professor Smith is very organized. i took her for ITN 262 summer class, and she is pretty good. you have to put effort to complete the assignments. and its a mountain of work. but that is to be expected since it is online class. she has the class organized by weeks, it is easy to follow. you just have to read the book and complete the questions.
I took an online class. Everything was organized and clear what needs to be done. Midterm wasn't easy, but to pass it needs to do all the work.
I took this coursw over the summer and it was great. It was 8 weeks so it was a bit fast paced but everything was well organized and out together. Each week there is a online quiz, discussion board, & answering 10-20 questions from the textbook. Very reasonable assignments. She also provides study guides for both exams!
Great instructor and great course but need more time...I took this class in the summer and it was not easy to meet weekly deadlines for assignments. I would like to take classes with this instructor but prefer not in the summer time.
Professor Smith is a fair teacher, having taken her classes during the summer I have experienced a teacher that responded quickly to e-mails, and will allow for an extensions for assignments if necessary or appropriate. She has a very easy to understand schedule, that isn't too demanding. I would definitely take another class of her's again.
Professor Smith is a great teacher. I took her online and even though its a lot of work, you learn a lot. She provides study guides for each exam, which are easy to follow in order to get a good grade. Don't wait till last minute to do her homework.
Professor Smith is a wonderful teacher. The fact that she provides all the information you need to know for your midterm and final if very helpful. What is on the study guide is on the test. Be prepared to do discussion boards, chapter test, and assignments weekly. Do these things weekly and you will pass. Take her.
Professor Smith was a wonderful instructor. She was very clear about all assignments and exams. She was also easily accessible for any questions or concerns. There was quite a bit of reading involved. I would highly recommend taking one of her classes.
Professor Smith provides clear expectations of what is expected to successfully pass the course. The mid-term and Final weigh heavily on the overall grade. Participation in the Group Project is also scored. Read the assigned Chapters, Complete all of the assignments, and Study, Study, and Study.
Professor Smith is a great online professor. She gave great feedback to any questions or concerns regarding the assignments or exams. Do buy the book as you will need it for homework. For this online class there are assignments and quizzes due each week so plan ahead. Great online class overall would take an online class with her again.
This professor chose fun labs relative to the topics being tough from the book. However, with each lab that must be submitted there is also questions from the book that must be answered. Each question requires a few sentence answer and is graded much more heavily than the labs. The questions MUST be done. Much less work than other online courses.
Be prepared to learn. There is plenty of homework, but definitely worth it. Professor Smith was very understanding of students and work obligations and being able to turn in assignments. Her response time was remarkable. It really helped that she posted information concerning our tasks well in advance. I would sign up for her class again!
The course was very comprehensive.
The class syllabus was clear and true to what was stated. Work load was bareable and quizzes were simple with short review of what was done throughout the reading.
Professor Smith was never hard to get in touch with. When my family and I fell on hard times she understood, and still allowed me to complete my assignments. That really meant the world to me.
I've enjoyed taking this course with Professor Smith as my instructor. I've found that Professor Smith provides great communication with the class. I've truly enjoyed taking this course and would highly recommend it.
Good class. Material is fine. (online class fyi) Teacher gave good and concise feedback. Only one issue: doing a group project in an online class is a exercise in futility that is a huge negative in my book. But saying that it was the ONLY negative about that class.
For ITN 106 there are a lot parts to the chapter assignments. The syllabus was easy to follow. As expected from any other instructor, Ms. Smith was firm, fair, and flexible when the situation permitted. I would recommend her to other students.
If there are any issues regarding an assignment, she will work with you in order to get the issue resolved, which is great!
Prof. Smith is very accommodating with any special requests, and helps make sure everyone gets a fair shot learning. I would have no qualms with taking another one of her courses.
So, this professor gives a lot of homework. But, that's not necessarily a bad thing because if you do the homework then you'll get points. So you don't need to do well on the exams if you do your homework. Also, if you don't do stellar on the exams you can retake them. AND there is extra credit.
The course was very good to learn the basic concept of Windows Operating System and the textbook was easy to understand and well organized. The professor was nice, flexible in managing assignment schedule considering student's(my) situation. The hardest part to me was a group project which I don't think would be appropriate to online course.
Super lenient. As long as you do assignments youll be good. She allows you to work at your own pace and gives helpful study guides for exams
Great professor
The course work is heavy for an 8-week class, but Ms. Smith really makes an effort to help her students. She'll allow retakes for exams under 60% and is understanding of technical difficulties. Exams are hard, but her study exams are stellar! The most challenging part was definitely the group project, which is difficult to organize online.
Professor Shatasha Smith is a great instructor. She will help you pass. She even gave us an opportunity to get extra credit. She is awesome.
Professor Smith is an awesome instructor. I took her class online and her grading criteria is very straightforward. Everything is very clearly listed on blackboard and she is also very easily accessible outside of BB. She wants you to pass. Take her and you will be sure to pass the class no doubt!
Great class enjoyed the review on all the topics.
Easy course outline and syllabus to follow with clear course expectations. Course consists mostly of weekly writing assignments, discussions, and quizzes with a midterm/final accounting for half of your course grade. Excellent feed back given on written assignments with lengthy corrections and remarks made for them. Grading turnaround time was long
Very fair. If you mess up be honest and own up to it. She will work with you if you're determined.
Good class! Very clear about grading. Quizzes were not bad.
Prof. Shatasha is a great professor ever at NVCC, she gives feedback on every homework. The course requires a lot of reading and answering the review question for each chapter. Also, there is a discussion board for online class. Study guides are provided to help student success and get the right information. Final exam from study guide. take her
Professor Smith is a fair grader. Sometimes it seems as if it takes a long time for grades to be posted. You need to either read the text carefully or have a background in IT in order to pass the tests successfully. She clearly lays out her grading criteria, but I had trouble getting the same results as Blackboard.
This is the second course i have taken from Professor Smith and each one was easy to follow along with the assignments given, with the quizzes and finals being on the material studied in the assignments. Prof. Smith also provides study guides for the midterm and final.
I took an eight weeks online class with prof. Smith. We had to do a lots of homework on every week to catch up. The home work was not difficult, but it's long and requited to read the entire chapter on the book to be able to complete it in the right way. Easy quiz on each week as well. Two tests and she provides study guide for them
I took ITN 262 online class with professor Shatasha Smith and it went very well. I am normally skeptical about online classes but her assignments and tests are very clear ans straight-forward. She is also very responsive, she always replies the emails. There is lots of homework (as expected), study hard and complete them all and you will pass !
Teacher is really great and tries to work with you. The class can be easy if you just focus and do the work. I had a difficult time trying to keep track of everything because it did seem like a lot of work at times and I work a bunch of hours so finding time to read and do all of the work was hard at times. Other than that the class can be okay.
Professor is really understanding and tries to help when you have a problem. The overall class is okay I did have a difficult time being that I work so many hours and found it hard to read so much and to do so much of the work but the overall work wasn't as hard. Class can be easy if you can just focus on doing completing everything you have to do.
I took Professor Smith during the fall of 2018. She was very kind and will respond to emails fast. There is a mid term and a final. In both the mid term ad final, you are to score a 60% or higher or else you will fail the course. She offered the opportunity for students to retake test so they can get a better grade. I will recommend her to any stud
Professor is willing to work with students, but if you're not looking for an overload of homework then don't take her class. The workload she assigns is very heavy, 27 questions with a 3-4 sentence response on each question. Assignments like this are assigned every week. If you don't mind lots of busy work than by all means take her class.....
Took the ITN106 class in an online 8-week setting. There were tons of assignments to get done each week (about 6+), 2 exams, and a group project. The assignments weren't too difficult, the professor was always easy to reach when I had questions, and she was always fair about grading. She even offers some extra credit opportunities! Great course!
Take her, just do it, you won't regret it.
Good online course. Expectations are clearly outlined. Workload is not excessive but you will have a decent amount of weekly work.
Professor is very helpful, gives good feedback. Do not wait last minute to do homework. Each homework question requires 3-4 sentences. There are at home quizzes. Also two exams. MUST get a 60% or better on exams to pass class. There are two parts to each homework assignment, and discussions. Must reply to at least one other student on discussions.
Professor Shatasha Smith is a caring and supportive instructor. She is always available and responds to emails quickly. Gives good feedback on assignments and is clear on what she expects from you.
Great semester, would take again.
Prof. Smith is very organized and detailed in the way she delivers the course material & offers an abundance of examples/resources. I never felt a need to ask for clarification. She's active within the class & kept us informed. The homework is in-depth, so you can't just "skate-by," but it's not just "busy work." It applies well to the subject.
She is very caring. er assignments are easy to understand. Practice your assignments and you will pass the class.
Homework, Chapter Review Questions, looks like a time-consuming a little tedious job. Not sure whether it is required by school policy or not. It is, however, more than compensated by exam tips, which are given for midterm- and final-exams. The professor is very considerate of student's situation in which assignments cannot be submitted on time.
A lot of book review work, took her online class ITN 262, however review work forces you to read the chapters per week so you're not falling behind. Quizes and exams had were fair and had everything expected from you.
There was a lot of reading and homework as expected. The professor's online posts for grading and assignments were one of the most clear of any online course I've taken.
Professor Smith is a great and understanding teacher. I took her online course which was great. Do the homework on time and you would be fine. The homework sometimes can be a bit daunting since review questions were due each week for the chapters read. Be sure to contact her in case you'll be late for an assignment.
She is a good instructor. Take her class and you'll be fine.
She is a good grader and actually respond to you when you email her. She tells what to do to pass and the syllabus is clear.
A caring, considerate professor.
Very good class. Took the online course for IT-267 so it's nice to work from home. Definitely keep up with your readings since assignments are due each week. Professor Smith is very responsive to emails and clear on the assignments/quiz for each week. You can always submit work early to stay ahead. Overall, great class will definitely recommend.
The class was amazing and very organized
Professor was very organized, provides study guides, gives a fair load of work. As long as you do the work and turn assignments in on time, you should have no problem passing this course. The professor provides you with everything you could need in order to be successful in the class.
took this professor for an online class for ITN 262, the structure in Blackboard is very organize. The course is only 8 weeks, so do expect discussion, lots of assignment, and quizzes every week. Make sure to turn in on time, do all the assignments, and use study guide, then you should pass this class for credit.
For a 8 week online course, I felt it was tough however I learned a lot. It filled in the blanks I had for my security plus studies. The mid-term and final exams take up 50% of your grade. On the plus side no research papers.
She is a wonderful Professor, always willing to help her students out. She has a pretty straight structured syllabus that helps students to know what exactly you expect from this course. I would recommend her any given day.
I think it was a good class. Very clear: - You do your work, you get what you worked for. Very helpful. Asked for extension of the due date for the project do to family relative issues and got feed back right away with extension granted. Reachable, provides additional material that helps to prepare for the tests and memorize main points.
Easy class, just do your work.
ITN262 She is a good lecture and very reliable especially on communication. The course materials are well organized and very easy to understand.
I enjoyed Professor Smith's class. It can be a little intense with the amount of homework you have to do. Although, can be expected with online classes. But, she is understanding and willing to work with you. Good feedback and email responses. Definitely, would take again.
I emailed professor Shatasha Smith several times during this course to explain some difficulties i had and she was fast and helpful in her response. I do really appreciate.
Laid back. Easy grading.
Prof. Smith offered excellent communication and clear instructions for her class. However, DO NOT MISS THE DEADLINES. She takes these VERY seriously. There wasnt any study guide offered for the midterm, but it helped if you did well on the quizzes, and for the final, she gave a study guide WITH ALL THE ANSWERS! Which was awesome!
I took an 8-week class ITN 267 with her. Prof. Smith's instruction was very clear. Lots of assignment need to be done but if you try to follow, you would get an A for sure. I would recommend her.
Read your book, complete your assignments, and you are ready to pass this class with an "A".
Get ready to read. But overall it is an easy class.
All the assignments aren't too bad as long as you do the reading. You definitely need to use the textbook though.
Hope youre ready to teach yourself ITN262 and do 40 question quizzes where the answer choices arents different answers but the same answers with different grammar and slightly different spellings.
I really liked this instructor. She is a kind person willing to help you pass the class. If you are taking an online class with her and doing bad she would give you another chance to do the work and get a better grade. I strongly recommend this instructor.
Very straightforward. An 8-week course with work due each week. Do all your work and youll get an A. Study guide with answers for midterm and final.
On the homework, it may seem like a lot but I was allowed to turn in passed due date. Teacher responded whenever I emailed her.
Great Experience overall and very understanding for late assignments
Easiest online class you would ever have to take. If you study your practice quizzes you would always do good on your exams
Doesn't give enough information about the course in first day.
