Awesome class, great professor! I learned so much from her, and she inspired me to be a sociologist. Run, don't walk to get into her classes!

Shauna is an excellent professor and would highly recommend anyone to take her classes. She is an extremely knowledgeable sociologist. She expects a lot out of her students but is a lenient grader and will curve tests if students didn't understand a certain concept. Take her classes! She's awesome and always very respectful.

Overall I think she is a fine teacher. I did not like that she gave three exams for an online class though. I take online courses because they work with my schedule and having to drive to campus three times was a pain in the a**. The class was at least easy though

Shauna is the best teacher I've had at CSCC. If you attend classes and pay attention you can get an A with a breeze. I was going through a hardship during the quarter and she was extremely understanding and did everything she could to accomodate me. Take her class!

Sowga is knowledgeable, and I think pretty good about not coming off too biased. She could challenge the class a bit more on critical thinking. She's so friendly the class gets very off topic, because everyone wants to voice their own personal experiences to her. Overall not a bad class. No book. Easy A. Popular instructor so arrive early.

I took her class in the Autumn Semester and it was really easy. She still puts her lectures online and most of the time our class gets into discussions so we are a little behind. Overall it was a lot of fun and Sowga is amazing :)

Professor Soga is an amazing instructor. Her topics are very interesting and she encourages class participation. The time goes by so fast because of the good teaching and class discussions. If you take her class, get there early because she is a popular and the class fills up quickly. Do the work, show up for class and you should do fine.

Easy A. shes hard to get a hold of at times but there is only one exam and her class is very easy

She is nice lady. There is 5 quizzes and one cumulative final. Just show up and listen. Print the notes offline to look over before quizzes. And one paper. She is great and her class is so easy. Plus in class assignments so show up just to get those points.

She's great! No complaints. I learned a lot in her deviance class that will help me as a social worker. She's great to talk to about careers, also.

I love this proffessor I've took her twice for intro to Soc and her Social Problems class. Both classes were great come to class ready to learn her lectures are great. She knows her stuff, come to class and do the work you will pass her class.! She's a caring teacher she doesn't make anyone feel out of place. Take her class she's amazing.

She definitely has very clear opinions on things. Everything in her class is super easy. I put barely any effort and have over 100%. If you really love sociology and want to dive deep into the subject, this may not be the best class for you. If you just need the class, she's your prof. Easy quizzes, no homework, often curves things, extra credit.

Theres an option to rate you hot or not? Sheesh LOL Shes really nice & offers really good insight to the course. Very helpful & not too tough of a grader. Shes super cool.

Sowga taught a very interesting course in Sociology of Deviance. I really liked her stories and thought they added to the content well. It's an easy class and a very chill environment. You do have to put in a bit of work but it's not a normal course load. Her final paper is one of the most fun I've had on my papers ever. Take this course! :)

Sociology of Deviance was one of the most interesting classes. It makes all the difference if you respect the person who's presenting the content. In this case, I actually enjoyed participating and listening for the most part because Shauna was a very upbeat person who you could relate to. Highly recommend her because she's intelligent and fun.

Very easy class, sorta didn't have to come to class because everything she taught was on a power point on blackboard. Mostly it is common sense stuff. No homework at all most of the time, quizzes online are super easy and our final essays are split up to small parts and due throughout the year.

Online class was fine, it helps if you read all of the information for the class, which the person below didnt. It right on the syllabus and the class orientation that you have to take the exams at the testing center Also, Ms Sowga got back to me immediately, especially if I emailed in due time before something is due.

Took it blended w/her & it was great! Sociology isn't hard if you pay attn. to the news at all. Workload light & work easy. Quiz's due 1/month-ish online, 6 pg. paper, 5 discussion boards about your paper, & final. Only negative thing is some of the answers on the quiz/final weren't spelled out in the book, so you had to think a little.

I loved Shauna so much. Shes honestly a really caring professor and just wants you to succeed while teaching you important things about Rural Sociology such as poverty and inequality. I highly recommend her!

The class is pretty easy considering the content is really just common sense. She gave extra points on exams which was really helpful. The class was really easy but you still need to study. Take note of her words when she does lecture because itll show on exams!

SOC1101 online. 3 Exams. Idk what my final grade is yet, but I currently have an A. Doesn't respond to emails, but she's lenient. This class is very independent, but you get to participate in discussion boards. Because of COVID19, she set up a DB for memes. Easy class if you do all homework before the deadlines. Fill out the study guides for exams!

I love Professor Sowga! Shes an amazing person and will give you the feedback that is needed. Shes very easy going and very reachable outside of class. I highly recommend her

I really liked her, some people say she does not respond to emails in a timely manner, but she would always respond to me the same day or a day later. I would say she can be a little tough on grading but she always explains why she took points off so you can fix it for next time.

Shauna was a bit disconnected in my experience this past fall. She doesn't respond to emails quickly and expectations are sometimes completely unknown. Assignments are relatively difficult, sometimes the textbook is confusing. Overall, class wasn't too hard, you were able to email questions and discussion boards were the most helpful, notes given.

The tests in this class are hard, and you must use the response lockdown browser for everything. Overall, this professor has the class set up asynchronously, which some people liked and hated. For me, I loved this class. I would take it again. Although the exams are hard, there are many other points which can help you secure an A.

She is really caring and accommodating. Took our class from awful with the other instructor to much, much better.

PLESE DISREGARD COURSE!!! I took COLS1100 as my freshman seminar and they didn't have enough teachers so they threw her in. It was her first time teaching that class but I have zero complaints, she is wonderful. She really made me feel welcomed and eased my anxiety about starting college.

easy credit and super interesting class.

Easy teacher, who sends frequent emails/reminders to stay on top of classwork and tests. Allows for 3 late submissions. Fantastic to reach via email, and very forgiving.

Took this class as a ccp student and loved it! Total points are 1000, and 600 points come from proctored exams, the rest (400) are from weekly assignments which are small quizzes or discussion boards. Would recommend taking it with professor Sowga!

I had the pleasure of having Shauna Sowga as my COLS teacher during my time as a CCP student. She is kind and caring, genuinely invested in her students' success. Her grading is fair, and the assignments are straightforward, allowing us to focus on learning. I highly recommend her to anyone considering this class; she is an outstanding teacher!

This is probably the best course I have taken. She doesn't try and make it difficult. There is a lot of reading but it really isn't too bad. Mainly its just presentations that we can do at your own pase, weekly quizes were easy, great topics. Would 100% recomind.
