I took her my freshman year first semester for math. I really dont like math and its actually pretty difficult for me just because Im so not interesting in it. But I loved Prof. Devi! She made everything so clear and she had no problem helping you if you had trouble. Every class lecture is really heavy but shes very good at explaining content.

Prof. Devi is AMAZING! She explains math so well and ALWAYS took the time to help students that needed it. She does give online homework 3 times a week, it is a lot but the problems really did help me learn the concepts. Before exams she would give reviews that were very similar to the exams, just with different numbers. Take her, she really cares.

Devi's 110 course is a solid choice. Just attend the lectures/discussions, keep up with the homework and you should do just fine. She's great at explaining concepts and really wants you to learn the material. The exams are pretty easy too. Study the reviews posted a week or so before the exam if you really want to do well on them. Makes math easy.

Update ***can miss more lectures, I was told 5 but wrong info. Attend discussions though if you can because it will benefit you, she/math 110 teachers want to see you succeed. Easy course if you took it in highschool or ask questions on confusing concepts because the material builds. Always told you when homework or exams were coming up.

Although it was a difficult class, Devi cares about her students and genuinely wants them to do well. I would recommend this class. Lots of homework but if you pay attention it is an easy A.

Devi is very serious and doesn't show emotion, but is VERY compassionate about math and her student's success. She is very approachable and jokes around with you, and really solidifies your knowledge of the subject.

Professor Devi is one of the best professors here at UIC. This was my first year taking calc 1 and she explains everything in such great detail. She is accessible during her office hours. She's such an amazing professor. She gives a lot of homework and you have to work for your grade but she explains everything very well. Her study guides are almost exactly the exams and she teaches everything you get tested on. Her class is fairly easy compared to other math classes I've taken. Take her if you can!!

Devi is the best professor for any math class. You have no reason to fail her class. She literally shows you explicitly what you need to and her reviews are just like the exam. She makes sure everyone is on the same page. She doesn't care what your math background in high school was and treats everyone equally and goes out of her way to help. :) :)

I was absolutely horrible at math in high school and struggled a lot in Pre-Calc during my senior year of high school. Devi helped see math from a new perspective and I absolutely loved calc. She explains the content clearly and is strict in class for good reason. Go to her review sessions for exams and I guarantee your exam grade will skyrocket.

Shavila is THE BEST Math professor at UIC. She actually makes sure that you learn the subject. She will go through all the exact details of problems. Nothing needs to be memorized. A lot of homework, but they are also very easy. If I could, I would only take Prof. Devi for all of my future math courses.

Dr. Devi is one of the best professors I had at UIC. She wants her students to do good in the future. She cares a lot about her students. She goes over the notes and problems very well and gives you study guides, which are review sheets, in class and in discussion. If you know how to do the review sheets, you are all set for exams. Professor Devi is the BEST professor at UIC. Yes, she's strict about attendance and homework but she explains everything crystal clear. Instead of just memorizing material for the class, she helps you understand why it is like that. I never felt confused or lost in her class, just go to lecture and you will 100% get an A.

I took Math 125 with Dr. Devi and she is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. Professor Devi is a godsend. I don't know what her class was like pre-COVID, but she handled online learning so well by giving us a big window to do assignments and communicating with us often. Her lectures were so clear and you can tell she cares about every one of her students. Honestly, there's no reason to use Chegg if you do all the work.

Dr. Devi is the most supportive and caring professor I've ever had. She keeps you updated by email every week on exactly what is due and posts detailed weekly schedules on Blackboard. She also regularly offers extensions on homework, drops the lowest homework and quiz grades, and has a GENEROUS grading scale (an 87% and above is considered an A)

BEST PROFESSOR. There is no way you cant pass her class because she tries so hard to genuinely have everyone succeed. Great lectures, and tests are very similar to them.

Very good teacher. What i like most about her is that she explains everything in very simple details. Sometimes a little too detailed, but you can just increase the speed of the videos then. This class is easy, just make sure you keep up with your work.

They don't make teachers like this anymore, encouraged learning, took time to truly explain during the lecture, was fair and understanding, not intimidating and what was one the quiz or test was from the homework she gave and in lectures.

Dr. Devi is a very respectable Professor. She cares about every each of her students and will stop class to answer quick questions (although at times, she will call out a distracted student and make a scene mid-lecture). You can tell Dr. Devi loves teaching and interacting with her students. She is very passionate of mathematics.

Professor Devi is one of the most kind hearted Professors at UIC. Despite the fact that she has hundreds of students, she will take the time out of her day to email those who aren't doing so well in the course and check up on them! Dr. Devi made things simple and didn't overcomplicate anything. She always answers questions and makes sure everyone feels comfortable with the topics. She does care about attendance and participation. There are no surprises on the exam, she'll go over everything during classes prior to the exam.

Professor Devi is the most generous professor at UIC. I do have to say, I did struggle in this course. However, she has many students and still made the time to always check up on me and my current standing grade! This is a very hard class. Prof Devi is teaches fast. If u miss one class you will be behind and its very fast pace. The exams are pretty hard and if u show correct work she will give you points for it. There is a quiz every week and homework twice a week. this is a class you have to put alot of effort in. Great professor, lots of homework and quizzes however so do not fall behind. Offers lots of tutoring and help outside of class. Generous when grading test (partial credit) and curves exams. The course was very hard and lots of material however Devi made it very manageable.

One of the most kind and caring teachers I've ever had, Professor Devi tries her best to break down concepts in terms that everyone can understand. Even if you're not great with math, she tries her best to maintain a manageable pace for all students. Do yourself a huge favor and sign up for her courses if you need to because she is awesome.

Literally so great for a math professor. There is a lot of content covered in Math 160 and she is able to cover all of it very well. Her study guides for exams are great and there is no surprises on her exams. If you suck at math you should still do well in this class.

Her class was very enjoyable and effective. She goes through each problem efficiently and always makes sure everyone understands. Though the class felt homework heavy at times, all the work completed mirrored the exams, so there were no surprises.

She is good at lecturing and genuinely did a good job of making me actually learn the material. She comes off as a bit pushy but really just tries to get her students to pay attention. Lectures were mandatory, but homework was easy. A lot of material to keep up with but class wasn't super difficult.

The professor makes sure you succeed in class. The class itself is very easy, but she makes sure to do multiple problems a bunch of times to really make sure you get it. Discussion is just some simple worksheets and lecture is just her running through a bunch of problems. The class is an easy A if you show up and pay attention.

The course is very assignment heavy, which should help you get a good grade as long as you complete them. Tests weren't very complicated. I absolutely loved her. Best professor at UIC. The class was fast-paced but she explained things so well. Lots of review time for each of the three exams. Beware of homework, she had short homework assignments due almost every day. Lots of easy points though! Also you have to purchase the online homework access, so beware. Attendance was graded.

If math isn't one of your strong areas, like me, then just take this class and follow her instructions. You'll pass with an A. Put some effort first, and if you're not seeing the results, then visit her during office hours; she helped me come up with study techniques that immensely helped my grades.

I was never good at math - heck I flunked pre-algebra while in community college! Dr. Devi is able to explain things in a way that makes sense and makes it easy. Follow her lectures, make sure you go to class, do your homework and most importantly, go to lecture before an exam and you will pass with an A. Take her class, you wont regret it!

The most important factor about math is who teaches it, and Mrs. Devi is an amazing teacher. I wouldn't have wanted to take my math credits with anyone else. Her teaching strategy just makes things seem easy which would trip me up on exams but still a great teacher. She was great and uses every minute of class so be ready to listen for 50 minutes.

I am a freshman at UIC and I had this professor for almost whole of my freshman year of college. She is a fantastic teacher and brings out energy to tech math. I really had enjoyed the two semesters with her she is amazing. Before the exam or the math discussion, make sure you listen to her lecture and she will tell you what to expect.

Although I struggle with Calculus, Dr. Devi is a great instructor and breaks down problems in a matter that everyone can easily understand. She can be strict but its because she wants you to do good. There are 3 exams and a final exam, which is quite a lot, but she'll get you through it. Because of her, I passed with a B. She is one of the top professors that's involved with the university.

I took MATH 125 and 165 with Professor Devi, and she's undoubtedly the best instructor I've had at UIC. Her pacing is perfect, building each topic effortlessly. She breaks down every topic to make it understandable for the average student. And she goes the extra mile to ensure understanding. I've never felt more prepared for exams.

I had her for 125 Fall 22' and 165 Spring 23' and got an A in both courses. She was recognized mid semester for some teaching award and it is well deserved. She is well respected and it's obvious why. She's the best at actually teaching the math and is very comprehensive and thorough. She's very passionate about what she teaches and really cares.

I had Devi this past semester and she was amazing!! 100% would take her again. I had her lectures online and she still have every concept easy to understand and walks you through it step by step. If you get anything lower than a B, it's because you didn't go to the discussions.

For her first time teaching Linear Algebra she did alright . She printed out handouts with notes for you, so all you had to do was fill in missing information. Some of her lecture examples were alot simpler than what showed up on her quiz. Her review guides were pretty helpful for exams though. You gotta self teach yourself to do good in the class.

Professor Devi is one of the few professors who is going to look out for her students. She makes the lectures so simple yet thorough that even a 10 year old could understand the concepts. She will prepare you for her exams to the extent that just a few hours her and there alone outside of class and you will be ready. She is truly one if the best.

Best math 310 professor I wouldn't doubt shes the best for other math courses as well. Attendance is mandatory but goes by fast lots of material is covered in such a clean and understanding way.

Amazing professor who has extremely detailed yet concise lecture sheets for linear algebra. She did not allow the class to get off topic, and was always excited to teach the subject. You can tell she loves math and teaching, and is incredible at her job. Also, the study guides and exams are the exact same just with different numbers.

Biweekly homework. There will be no side convo or electronic devices allowed during class. However, she prints out lecture notes and allow tablet use for note taking. Her printed lecture note and explanations are easy to follow and you can easily tell that she actually cares about students. Probably my best professor at UIC so far.

She is a AWSOME professor. The class is difficult but very fair, if you study and do the homework and practice tests you will get an A. She is someone who prides herself on how well her class does and her class did very well. Our first exam had like a 94% pass rate compared to other sections who had I think around 60-70%. Ask questions too :)

shes a pretty decent teacher but if you take her on zoom, she stops class every 2 seconds to ask if everyone's paying attention. the tests were very similar to the study guide and the quizzes weren't too bad. it's pretty easy to get a decent grade in the class...shes just really annoying.

She's an incredible professor. If you stay on top of her lectures and review your notes, you can easily get an A. I really enjoy her lectures, but she does sometimes move quickly. As long as you consistently attend lectures, keep practicing, and complete your homework, you should be good.

Professor Devi was a phenomenal teacher. Her lectures and reviews were always very clear to understand and she really takes the time to make sure everyone is on the same page. Be warned that she does mess with people talking or being on their phones in class though.

Dr. Devi really does care about her students a lot. I am not good at math, but her explanations made it easier to understand. If you ask for help from the TA's and LA's at the MSLC they'll 100% help you if you're struggling with some of the math concepts. Attendance matters. Be on top of the homework.

Shes very clear when she teaches, she gets straight to the point. No mumbling, no overexplaining. She tells you exactly how to solve the problem. Go to the MSLC for help from the TA's and LA's. She is a great professor who I had for MATH 125 as well and will guide you if you're lost. Study for exams ahead of time.

Professor Devi is a great professor and is good at explaining things when students are confused. I had her for Math 125 & Math 165 and both classes went smoothly and I ended with an A+. As long as you study for exams, put in effort, and show up to your lectures, you are guaranteed success with Devi.

Amazing teacher. Lectures were easy to understand and gave me confidence. Genuinely learned and remembered a lot more about math and continue to use some math concepts by memory to this day.
