The class is pretty straight forward and Professor Alborz is a fair grader overall. It's easy to talk to him if you have any questions as well. Professor Alborz will want the class to be involved and that is definitely not a hard task. Beware as his test can be a bit tricky, but once you figure out his writing style you should be fine.
Shawn is one of the friendliest professors in UTD, everyone in the class loves him. The tests are kinda hard but the lectures are fun. The tests takes up 75% of the grade but he gives extra credit. The project is helpful and the professor is always there to help!
Overall a great professor, will work with you to make sure you understand, fun lectures with a good deal of interactivity, exams make up a large portion of the overall grade but there are curves and as long as you study and pay attention there should be no problems passing
He is really inspirational and his teaching style is fantastic. Loved his course.
Dr. Albortz is a great professor. His lectures are fluid and he has a cheesey sense of humor (in the best way). He's a professor that is sarcastic, but deep down is a a thoughtful and caring individual. Throughout the semester there was never a doubt that he was in our corner. Tests are thourough, but if you study the slides entirley you're golden!
Dr. Alborz is hilarious and extremely engaged with his students. I really enjoyed this class and will seek him out for my graduate level courses.
Best professor, really funny keeps the class engaged.
Fun Class. Not Very difficult. I would definitely take again.
Great guy, MUST TAKE!
He is super chill.
You won't regret taking his class
Great professor! Very knowledgeable and funny. Makes class extremely fun and interesting.
funny guy, makes class engaging. Tests are relatively easy if you study the powerpoints.
Really funny guy
Awesome professor that makes the class sessions interesting. The tests are extremely straightforward but the material can be confusing so be sure to study. He does have an interesting sense of humor so only take him if you have thick skin.
Great professor, he's fun and is very interesting. He acts like he doesn't care but he lowers his guard later on in the course. Very approachable. No book; just pay attention to the class and follow with the presentations. Exam is based off of the presentation and are pretty self explanatory. Test is in the testing center, but it's still simple.
I thoroughly enjoyed the project management class I took with Shawn. He was very funny, and for a 3 hour class, he never kept us more than 2.5 hours. He's a great professor and is very thorough in his work. I highly suggest taking this professor, I usually dread my night classes, but his excites me!
Funny guy! Great class! I normally dont like group project but this one was doable!
Professor Alborz always makes class interesting. His humor always makes the content interesting. I appreciate his clear presentation and in-class activities that make project management more practical.
Professor Alborz is a good teacher. You don't need a book and the class is pretty easy. It's a 3 hour class, but rarely ever lasts that long.
Great professor. Gives clear instruction and makes class very entertaining. Tests are a bit difficult but if you attend class and study you should have no problem.
Dr. Alborz was a very interactive professor. He is very hilarious and always making his students laugh. His teaching style is well done. Always reviewing after lecture.
Professor Alborz is a great professor. His tests are easy if you review the PowerPoints. The group project is not bad. You get to pick your own groups and he gives you a lot of positive feedback for each part of the project. I would highly recommend him!
This is my second class with this Professor ! What does that tell you ? Take his class ! This is a professor you'll remember even after you graduate.
Great Professor! Really funny, and gives you opportunities to make up credit. I would definitely recommend taking him.
This guy is hilarious and he cares about his students. Super understanding and tolerant. Makes the class fun, and you actually learn real skills about project management. Can't wait to take him in a graduate course.
The powerpoints are the key to doing well on his tests. Make sure to study the material, and do your projects on time, and you will do well.
Great professor! I would recommend this class to anyone wanting an easy class.
Great professor. Had his class 7 pm to 9:45 pm and did not miss a single one. Love his lectures, optional attendance and no book needed.
Professor Alborz is a hilarious person. The good thing about his course is that you just have to listen in class to both understand the concept and get an A. He is hilarious and he cares about his students. One of the best professor in UTD.
Great professor! Makes class entertaining with sense of humor.
Wonderful professor! Makes class fun and interesting, you will not regret taking his class!
Great professor-he gives you good feedback and always tries to get everyone involved. No textbook and doesn't take attendance, but he has given us a couple of pop quizzes so show up and watch your email the day of class. The tests are a bit hard though, there's three of them and they are cumulative, they're directly from slides he shows in class.
Dr. Alborz is the best professor I've ever taken in my life. He's the funniest professor I've taken, and is highly respected too. Although he'll make you laugh your pants off in class every second, he also has a lot of knowledge about his courses too.
The class requires a lot of homework due to projects. Good professor overall. He is hilarious. Very engaging. I would take another class taught by him.
great class. gives real world advice about pmp cert. helpful
Project Management with Alborz is LIT. His lectures and overall personality makes class enjoyable. If you engage in class you will surely get an A. Oh the group project is fun, so prepare for that. Be sure to compliment him on his socks and you will get in his good graces.
He is unbelievably charismatic, charming and funny all at the same time! I enjoyed coming to class, seeing him and listening to what he has to say on everything!! I sure will miss going to his class. I plan on getting MBA and will look for any classes that he teaches and will make sure to take every single one of them!! YOU WILL LOVE HIM!
I like his style of teaching and all the examples he provides in the class. I strongly suggest you to take his class, it will change your life, project management is a great profession and he prepares you for it.
I just love the guy. He is excellent in teaching and style if great.
He is the perfect professor. You will love his class.
class is way too easy. not enough challenge. real life project management is not this easy.
This professor is just simply great. I really love the way he teaches and I also love working on the group project. He is very detailed oriented and pays attention to formatting a lot.
Geeez man, he is just awesome. Great professor I have ever had.
I absolutely enjoyed his teaching and learned a lot from his class. He is awesome.
Dr. Albortz is a great professor with a sense of humor. He' is very caring individual. Tests are thourough, so study the slides and you are good to go.
Professor Alborz is the perfect example of an amazing professor. He's really really funny and keeps students engaged. His lectures are actually interesting and he gives very useful feedback on assignments. I am so happy I took this class with him and highly recommend that everyone takes it. It was definitely one of my favorite classes at UTD
Great professor! And easy class
The most hilarious guy I have ever seen. He wants you to learn the essence of what he teaches. Make sure you follow the format strictly.
Shawn's class is very clear and he reaches for beyond the classroom. He is great at explaining concepts and really makes you think. The assignments really are meant to make you think outside the box and experience the real world. He is very funny and entertaining but strives to make this class the best one you will ever take.
Best professor !
This was an excellent class. Dr. Arborz does a great job delivering the lectures as he makes sure that the class is engaged and that people learn. I wish UTD had more professors like him.
Sean is a good professor who cares that you learn something valuable for your career in his class. Follow his directions for the group project, and for the test you really need to know the details because test performance is how the grades are distributed.
I loved the way of teaching. Very good atmosphere in class. Great sense humour! He also gave us some important and useful advices for our future business life on our way. I would take class of Shawn again anytime!
Prof . Shawn is a very cool professor. Just focus on the topics he explains in class. The material he provides is enough to get good grades.
Good Prof. A lot of real life learning.
You will not be bored. Because if that is going to happen, you will be released from the class. The professor is very realistic and focuses on the real knowledge and skills that can be used in real world, which means you will not need to waste your time too much on unnecessary jargons. He will not cover all materials but the most important ones.
Humorous and knowledgable, recommend this professor to everyone
Show up, do your work, read ppts to study 100 The class is mandatory-ish. Quizzes can surprise you. Personally, the quizzes and exams weren't hard in the slightest. Paying attention in classes is a form of studying for me. Print ppts, he talks fast and literally will tells you which slides to ignore - its the best/simplest way to keep track.
A good and respected professor.
He's very enthusiastic and actually a pretty hilarious guy. His lectures will make you want to come back the next week.
I scored highest in all exams in my class and full in all assignments but still ended up with A-. Classes are fine, if you have experience in management field then this class will not be tough but mostly a reinforcement.
He has many slides because he walks you thru the process and method. This is very useful and he tells you which ones to read and focus and which ones we just need to know but may never use in real world. He is a great professor.
He provides lots of feedback when you do your assignment. but at the beginning, it will not be clear to you on what needs to be done and that is because he wants to simulate the real-world expereience. Great professor.
The entire semester you work with a group on 4 different assignments so be careful who you choose in your group. If you have problems then he will allow you to drop that member which is nice since most professors won't. He does random pop quizzes so attendance isn't mandatory but you'll miss quizzes. Very funny, good sense of humor, and concise.
This class was fun and constructive. Professor Alborz is funny, knowledgeable, and speaks from experience, not only theories. The structure of this class and its assignments prepare students for the ambiguity of the real world. I would highly recommend taking this class with Dr. Alborz for anyone who wants to learn more about Project Management.
Semester-long group project is assigned first day so be wary of that. He's the funniest prof I've ever had the pleasure of taking. Class is not mandatory, but pop quizzes can ruin you since they're worth 10% of your grade (lowest is dropped), the semester-long group project is 20%, and the 3 exams are worth about 23% each towards your overall grade
Beware of Pop Quizzes. Other than that the exams are easy and as long as you do the project you will be fine. He's very laid back and funny. Take his class.
This class is not difficult. The project is very open for interpretation, and you can approach him with any questions you have. He gives you a lot of freedom with it. The homework is not difficult and basically sets up the project for the end of the semester. He provides rubrics for it all, and is always there to help. Quizzes at end of class.
Easy to follow class lectures. The group project is manageable if you choose the right people. Presentation at the end of the semester sums up the project. Great professor. I would definitely recommend!
There's a semester long group project that is broken down into about 4 different parts as homework. The class sturucture allows for creativity and Professor Alborz is always there to help. The exams aren't too difficult, but there will be pop quizzes. Overall a very enjoyable class and professor
Professor Alborz is so funny and very knowledgeable. The class itself isn't too bad; there are about 4 group related assignments, pop-quizzes and 3 exams. Just study his slides and attend lecture and you will be fine!
Professor Alborz is fair & goes above and beyond for his students. His class is straight-forward with a semester long project. His feedback is very helpful and he likes to give you a general vision of how your assignments should be, so you can be creative. Tests are based off PowerPoints and lecture. Great sense of humor makes class entertaining.
Prof. Alborz is really knowledgeable, easy going, and really encourages you to be creative in the group project. He provides really good feedback and wants you to succeed. Everything is straightforward. The pop quizzes are to help your test grades and counts for attendance. Choose the people in your group wisely! he doesn't like slackers!
Shawn Alborz is such a great professor, funny, and make the subject interesting. love his way of teaching and really enjoyed attending the class even though it's not required. no textbook is used and all the exams are straight from the powerpoint. However, there are 3 exams and all are cumulative. but they are pretty fair.
Interesting professor. Learned a lot in his class and was never truly bored. Test could be easy or hard depending on whether you listen in class OR look over the powerpoints. HW and end of class presentation is basically participation. Just do the work and you should have no problem getting an A.
I learned so much and I also used them for my job and now everybody calls me project manager at work. He is a great professor. You would love his class.
The group project is the best part and I have been using it for my job and getting lots of notices from my boss too. The class is great.
He knows what he is talking about. He is great.
If you follow his syllabus and slide, then you will be fine. He is very particular in formatting the documents properly so read the templates carefully. He is a great professor.
He really knows what he is talking about. He gives the best advice on real world situations. We are assigned a group project that has multiple checkpoints through out (mostly just participation). First exam is easy but materials does get harder after. He's easy to talk to and gives great feedback. He has a fun personality so he's great to listen to
Shawn is a hilarious professor. OPRE 6362 was an amazing class. The concepts like EVM, gannt charts, project charter were taught practically in the class. These concepts are very handy in job and also for internship interviews.
I just finished his class and loved it. He is the great and loved his style of teaching.
Very easy going, friendly and humorous. Breezes through the slides, as the course content is quite simple. Exams are easy. You can take this course to balance with other heavy courses.
He's very straightforward, helpful and energetic and a hilarious professor. His style of lecturing motivates you to come back the next week. fantastic.
he is perfect and i love the course and teaching method too.
Professor Shawn was the head of our department at University of Texas at Dallas. As a head of the department I could see little or no subject matter expertise apart from very general guidance. Dr Shawn wasn't easy to approach or talk to about subjects or career. Students in his good books were in advantageous positions than other students.
By far, he is the best professor.
I learned a lot from his class and was able to use those in my current job. Guess what, it was really helped my current position at work.
I just finished his masters class and loved it.
The class has 3 exams and 3-4 assignments which are very helpful. He is always helpful and communicates very quickly. The exams are not really tough. Be aware of pop quizzes. The class is also fun.
I have decided to recommend him to all of my friends. He is great.
You can reach the professor at any time of the day and he'll get back to you immediately. His grading criteria was very clear and helps students out if they need a little push. Would definitely take this class or any class he teaches again!
He is one of the best Professor in JSOM. His teachings are clear and understandable. His exams are conceptual and easy. Recommend reading the slides to score an A. He is friendly and accessable outside class for doubts.
Hi. Professor Shawn is one of the best professors that I have had ever on UTD. He is so nice and helpful. Easy going and interesting lectures which if you read carefully them two or three times, you will get an A on exams.
Professor Alborz makes taking an online course very easy! He gives his students many options on how to take his exams. Also, the group project helps you understand the lectures better. Overall he is a great choice!!
Prof Alborz is engaging and knowledgeable. The project is broken into easy to complete sections that really helps you learn the skills needed to be a PM. The tests are pulled straight from the lectures. He was fair, specific, and taught a great class.
The course deals with practical aspects of Project Management and the professor makes sure students engage in various kinds of group projects related to Project Management. I enjoyed taking this course and recommend you guys the same.
For an online class, his lectures were not super long. His exams are straight forward but you do need to study if you want an A. Having a group project for an online class was not my favorites, kind of annoying.
Amazing professor with good teaching skills. Valuable content and gives enough time on assignments.
The course is useful for the project management. If you would like to focus this part, you can take it course.
Best professor for Project Management.
This course is a structured combination of professional knowledge, techniques and skill. Professor Shawn Alborz is experienced and good in teaching.
Amazing way of teaching concepts! The project which he makes us do are really helpful
His lectures were awesome. There were many slides to read to prepare for exams but it was absolutely useful to understand the project management.
Good Professor, I learned quite a bit and he was always willing to help.
Professor Alborz is a really good professor. His online is very test heavy with assignments. His exams can be difficult but he does good job explaining concepts through his online lectures. He provides valuable feedback on your assignments.
Overall really nice professor, the problem is exams are over A LOT of material so you need to study well (all memorizing concepts). Other than that, assignments are just a little bit vague, but he's really good at answering your emails quickly.
Dr. Alborz was a great professor. Tests directly from lectures, although he gives you plenty of opportunity and direction to study further on your own for more in-depth research on project management. Group work is a big focus - what you get out of it can totally depend on your group members' participation, or lack of. Would take Dr. Alborz again.
Nice professor, cares about what the students learn and is good at teaching the material.
Very knowledgeable and helpful. Gives good guidance on how to approach PM certifications.
Very knowledgeable professor and provides quick thorough feedback! Def need to study hard and memorize lots of lecture material and definitions for the exams. Project work is in depth but easy to follow along with his syllabus.
The content of the lectures is useful and builds foundation for someone who wants to specialize in project management. If you pay attention to the lectures and the exams, you will get high marks. It is not difficult to finish the group project unless you work with lay men. Most important of all, Shawn is a nice guy and he may give extra point.
His online lectures are explained very well. If you pay attention to them then you can score well on exams. Group project assignments prepare you for working under actual project management team. The course provides good base for someone who wants to pursue career in project management.
Professor Shawn provides lots of detailed And clear information about this course and actively helps students to deal with their problems, not only about this course but also students further career. He is knowledgeable and interesting. Also taking this online course is a truly effective way to learn.
Great overview of project management as a whole. Read the slides carefully and you will guarantee good grades.
Interesting overview of project management as a whole. My advice: read the slides carefully and you will guarantee good grades. All questions on the exams will come from the slides.
I took the class because I was doing an internship & the syllabus presented a plethora of useful skills I could have to succeed. Prof. Alborz was an easy choice because he has helped many students as a program director & holds a great reputation as a teacher. The classes were not only informative but FUN. Definitely recommend to anyone interested.
Very structurally sound online class (an example to others). There are 3 exams and one semester-long group-project assignment that helped me learn the application behind the lecture material. There is no reason you cannot keep up with lecture, exams, etc because he has streamlined every aspect. He posts lectures as PDF, audio-overlay, and podcast.
I truly enjoyed the course and Professor Alborz. This was my first semester in an online class, and I felt the course work was very well laid out as well as the expectations. The lectures were entertaining and very informative, which made the material easier to understand. Additionally, the group project was clear and value adding to the course.
If you pay attention to his lectures, you are bound to do good.
Great Professor for Project Management Course.
The grade you get in this class is basically up to how much effort you put into it. The tests are easy but you won't get an A on them without hours of studying
Lots of groupwork, but you will learn a ton
Very straightforward class. Clear from the beginning what needs to be done, and the professor provides further support and guidance along the way. He treats you like an actual 'PM' and expects similar levels of detail to help teach the topics. Group Project and Exams require effort but are not bad and aren't designed to trick or fail you.
This class is very beneficial to young and old professionals alike. I use the principles in this class daily as an Industrial Engineer in the Aerospace Industry. Shawn is a great professor as well. He gives clear direction on assignments and lectures contain straight forward, pertinent material only. Look forward to taking another of his classes.
Grabs you attention even in online classes so that its not boring. Detailed lectures and also interactive
The class was easy with just a group project, which helped learn the MS Project tool and use the PM techniques in practice, and a few sometimes challenging but fun to solve tests through out the semester. He is very funny. Might seem intimidating at first but as you get to know him, his witty and cool manner helps solve any concerns fast and easy.
Shawn is patient to students and always gives guidance. There will be an interesting group project in which you will need to develop your own product just like a project manager.
An interesting course - definitely prepares you for the PM certification exam. The Group project was an interesting part of the course. Overall a good course with clear expectations.
Dr. Alborz was great. He clearly outlines expectations in the syllabus. He also shared optional materials to learn more about project management, shared information about careers in the field, and encouraged continuous learning in the topic area. Easy going professor. Manageable work load. Id recommend him as a professor for this course.
Professor Shawn is a very humble , hilarious and amazing professor. I really loved learning under him
Its a fun course to take
It's a great class to take.
Great Professor
Great course! Definitely a good choice if you are interested in taking the PMP exam. Professor Alborz is very knowledgeable on the topic with regards to project management and makes learning about the topic quite interesting. The group projects are an excellent way to get hands on experience. Test heavy, 3 exams 75% of the course grade.
Professor Alborz is amazing. This course was challenging, but enjoyable and I learned a lot in a short amount of time. He gives detailed feedback and is always available when you need him.
Really enjoyed this class. I wouldnt say its an easy A, but if you spend time on the lectures, material, and group project you will be fine. The class material is very applicable to a lot of different career paths.
Online classes are tough for teachers to make themselves available and make the class interesting. Professor Alborz makes it look easy. Lectures are easy to follow and he sends weekly emails for the week ahead. Group project is a fun way to practice what you are learning. As long as you pay attention to the lectures you will do fine on the exams.
Start early on the group projects and make sure to watch the lectures beforehand. They will essentially tell you exactly what needs to be done and make the work much easier. Take notes of the additional remarks that the professor makes in the lectures and the exams should be a breeze.
Start early on project and listen to lectures.
Professor is very caring, explains and connect each and every dot with real life examples
Excellent Professor. Have signed up to take another class with him as a result of this class. You need to show up and participate, but if you cant do that you dont belong in a MBA program. He is very specific on what he wants, but he was exceptionally flexible with us during Covid.
He teaches the class in an interactive and collaborative effort. There is room to freely learn and not feel pressure to learn the material. Very engaging professor that loves his students. I would take every class with this professor!
He is simply great. He really cares about his students and very very quick in replying to emails. Also, provides feedback and helps you alot.
This international trip was intended for the beginning of the COVID-19 panic. Amid all the uncertainty Prof. Alborz was steady, caring, and worked hard to keep us informed of developments as they occurred. Once the trip was canceled he worked tirelessly to get all of our program fees back. He's also funny, intelligent. Best class of my masters.
This was a very straight forward course. There were no surprises. If you follow his expectations from the syllabus you should be golden. Be sure to read and listen to the presentations for every module. His slides are very informative and very helpful for examination. Exams are also very straight forward no trick questions. I learned a lot.
Dr Alborz has very specific requirement, that you need to follow, but he's clear about them. If you follow them, you should be ok. The exams are slightly difficult but no gotchas, just a lot of material to remember. As a professor he is great. Helpful and communicative.
Professor Alborz provides great guidance and has made project management very interesting.
Best Online Class Ever. The professor is highly knowledgable, respected, caring, shares information quickly, and has a clear grading criteria. You do not need a textbook in this class, all you have to do is read the materials provided, and watch the videos. There are multiple group projects, but you will have clear guidelines. Overall GREAT CLASS
Class was straightforward. 3 Exams and a group project that you work on all semester. Exams are proctored 50 questions each but they come straight from his lectures. The lectures are well detailed with enough information to prepare you for the tests. Good elective - would take him again.
Professor Alborz was an amazing professor. Was easy to access to and lectures is all you need (no book)Exams were very straight forward (no tricks), lecture material is very solid and has a lot of information, but it helps a lot. Group project does have a good amount of work, but it got easier as it went on because almost all relate to each other.
The class that I take is OPRE 6362 online course. This course contains many stuff but the powerpoint is easy to learn. You can get a high score if you read the powerpoint carefully. Professor Shawn is great. He is a very responsible people and very nice. Overall, he and his course is a good choice!
Make sure you follow the templates EXACTLY. Content is second to formatting. Tests are specific to lecture slides, many word for word. Closed book, closed notes. Study the lectures PDFs well for excellent test grades. I took this class through COVID-19 pandemic, and he was very caring and flexible with testing.
This class is challenging and useful in any business environment. Almost every high level manager should be at least familiar with project management and this is a great class for this. I really enjoy how most of the test questions are preparing students for the actual PMP exam. He was very flexible with helping students navigate the coronavirus.
Shawn had us work on a great group project- the project management of a kitchen tool to be sold for $20 or less. I enjoyed doing it and learned a ton about the project management process that I directly applied to my job! He was great at communicating and was straightforward about any changes to the schedule due to COVID-19.
Professor Alborz was clear in expectations and communicated thoroughly with the class. Class was focused on a group project that taught basics of the project development process including Microsoft Project work. I have been able to apply what I have learned directly to my job as a Project Manager.
Tells you exactly what you need, stick to the slides you will learn everything you need to know for entry-level course for project management.
Professor Alborz is a great teacher. This class was fulfilling and learned a lot about the process of project management. He is quick to respond to any questions and sends out emails to students to make sure that they are on track and keeping up with the class. I would take this professor again!
Professor Alborz is a great professor to take! Project managment can be a boring subject but I found his lectures engaging and funny. I took this course online and had no trouble understanding the material. The group project wasn't bad and he lets you pick your groups. Overall, I engoyed the course and would take it again
Exams are closed-notes, so it takes a good memory to do well. Taking notes as I went through the lectures helped. The lectures and slides contain lots of tedious material, most of which aren't used in the real world. Great professor though. Group project was 3 of us on a team. Get along, do the work, all will be well. Exams can be tricky.
There are three tests that are pretty straightforward as long as you study the slides and listen to the lectures. Part of the class is a group project that has multiple components due throughout the semester as long as you follow the syllabus and formatting instructions it is pretty straightforward as well.
I really enjoyed the class. I am a project manager at work and the class materials was very helpful to improve my performance at work.
Professor Alborz is amazing teacher. Took online class with him. His slides are very easy to follow and has all required explanation. I love his class and will take his class again.
Dr. Alborz had an organized class with clear guidelines for both what we would be tested on and for assignments. I really enjoyed this class and it was so valuable for the project I was working on in my internship. Plus Dr. Alborz is funny and easy to access outside of class-which isn't always the case for online classes. Highly recommend!
It was a great well structure online class. Instructions for everything we very clear on the syllabus. (You must follow the instructions. If not you will not get a good great). Great learning and easy class. Must watch the lectures or read the slides carefully to do well on the multiple choice exams. Overall, well structured easy A.
He gave very detailed instructions for assignments. I learned a lot which is very useful in his class.
Professor Shawn course is more than great. He inspired me with so many ideas about what I can do n my future steps ans what can implement from academic studies towards work environment. You would miss a lot if you didn't take this course as a part of your MBA.
Great teacher, and very caring. Fun to listen to!
Dr. Alborz has clear grading criteria so you know what is expected of you. The expectations are fair and the tests aren't overly difficult.
Dr. Alborz is a professor that truly cares about the well-being and success of his students. Even with all of the crazy COVID orders that have been put in place, he has gone out of his way to not only make sure we still have what we need to be successful, but that we are staying safe during these times.
Alborz had a clear grading scale and left enough feedback to know what he was looking for in the project sections. I appreciated that his tests were a clear reflection of his notes, powerpoints, and lectures.
Professor is good, professional and responsible. The powerpoint was very organized and logical. There are three exams, your answer were all in PPT, as long as the careful review can get a satisfactory result. I would take his class again.
Friendly professor always give us reminder and help us. Clear lecture. Feel good to do group project during entire semester.
Not too bad.
I would recommend this project management class to anyone. It is insightful and is useful in the business world if you are going to be working on projects. The class was well designed and flowed easily online.
Dr. Alborz's lectures were clear, and his exams reflected the course material. He has been very helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic. I enjoyed this course, and it will be useful in my career.
I really liked the content of the course and it is very relevant to outside the classroom as well. Also the way it was taught was really good, as it focused mainly on the learning part.
Would highly recommend this class. It teaches practical, technical skills that are often absent from other classes or degree programs. I learned more from this class than most learn in undergrad.
The class was generic. I wish the professor deep-dived into the subject
Overall great class! I learned a lot from the group project and format of the class.
Professor Alborz took the time out of his busy schedule to review my exam after a very mediocre performance on my part. He reviewed the entire exam and gave excellent feedback on the areas I struggled with. I appreciated very much his effort in helping me understand what I struggled with.
He is the nicest professor I have ever met. Lectures are clear and to the point, and exams are also straightforward. There are no tricks: you learn, you get tested on the learning material, and you succeed. If you want to learn about Project management this is the class you want.
Good Professor. A lot of information. Sometimes test questions can be worded weird which can make it confusing. Some conflicting information throughout the course but an email to the professor will clear up any miscommunication
He is a good teacher with very clear guidelines on what he wants. There is a semester long project, if you get a good group you should be fine. Interesting class
Overall the class was pretty good. There is one big group project that was divided into several milestones and three exams. The project was easy as long as you have good teammates to split up the work. Exams are based on the slides. The last exam was cumulative.
He is absolutely a perfect guide for international students.
Group assignments are fun. Online lecture videos are very helpful and catchy.
Professor Alborz is wonderful teacher. I have taken two of his courses and enjoyed both of them equal. He has a good sense of humor that keeps class engaging and keeps you on your toes. He is very intelligent and has worked in "industry" so he provides information that is pertinent and can be applied immediately in the professional world.
I just loved it.
Well, he is he greatest professor, so take his class.
I love his lectures man. He is great.
I loved the course and his teaching style. Pay attention to slides because all questions come from slides. I found homework are great and useful for my job.
Exams are all based on slides so make sure you read the slides well. He is just great.
Love this man, definitely take him.
Dr. Alborz is a great instructor. He is very clear and concise in his instruction and provides knowledge you need. He is also excellent at relating the knowledge in the course to the real world.
The course is very well organized and well prepared. Lots of great information for future PMs and PMPs. Course material can be used as a resource in the real world. I learned a lot.
Shawn is amazing! I enjoyed coming to his classes, as he was always inspirational and entertaining. This class is not hard at all, it is based on a few exams and a semester-long project that he gives you time in class to work on. Take him if you get a chance!
Recorded lectures were interesting enough. Tests were not too difficult, just read the slides and pay attention to formulas. The group project was interesting and not too difficult. I know more about project mgmt.
One of the best professor in UTD. gained more knowledge about the project management subject. Professor helped me clearing my doubts and was very quick in responding to the email sent. I strongly recommend to choose this professor.
Very good lectures. Group assignments are creative. Make sure to follow the guidelines. study well for exams
Professor is amazing
Very reasonable.
He was really great with making people understand the course and giving enough space for us to learn the subject well. His lecture notes and assignments are very useful.
Without a doubt, best professor ever.
The lectures were very informative, and received valuable feedback in all assignments. Best class ever! Thank you Professor!
Professor Alborz is by far the best and most caring professor I have had at UTD. A practical subject, a practical approach to teaching, and meaningful outcomes.
The Professor was excellent. No unnecessary emails and recorded lectures were straightforward and brief. The exams were based on the lectures and PowerPoint; all the exams were built on each other, so try to recollect the key points from each chapter. Overall a great class.
I love the lectures because they are very clear. He is also very fast in replying to emails.
He appreciates early communication with him if anything goes wrong. He is a great guy and his lectures are excellent.
I really like the slides because everything that I need to know is there, and really easy for the test too. His exams are based on the slides so no surprises.
The course was a low time commitment but still designed to prepare you as a PM
Great professor. Online recorded lectures posted on Elearning, 4 small group assignments for a project which are easily graded and gives feedback. Proctored online exams which are kind of difficult but gives extra points for final grade. I studied a day before and did decently.
Really enjoyed the class, took it online. 4 assignments which are a part of 1 group project and 3 exams. Take this class with him
After bombing the first exam I had a D+ in the class. After taking the last two exams and doing great on the group projects I got an A-. Easy class and great GPA boost. Watch the lectures and you're set!
This is the first time I just HAD to give a rating because he is amazing. His syllabus is super detailed and if there's any possibility of slight misunderstanding he already sent an email to clarify. Before exam week he sent an email just to remind us to keep our chins up and we will do well. His assignments are straightforward and actually fun.
I suck at online courses, never passed a single one, yet this one, I actually did well in. ik theres a bunch of cheesy reviews that say "best prof ever, so caring, amazing, etc..." but seriously, he will not let you fail the course as long as you show some effort. I almost never rate profs, but he is by far the best I have ever taken in 5 yrs.
I really appreciated the structure and organization professor Alborz had for this online course. There was only one group project that had an assignment due every 2 weeks. I really liked that he did that because it allowed my group to slowly build up our project. Lectures were straightforward. If you put in effort you will do great!
one of the best professors at UTD. The class is structured very intentionally. If you do the work, you will get an A and learn LOTS. I will be using what I learned in this class for the rest for my career and think anyone should take this class if you have the opportunity to.
Very lenient and awesome grades. Gives extra chance for group projects with guidance in case our first attempt is wrong.
four group projects. 3 exams (with honorlock). Everything you need to know about the group projects is in the syllabus.
If you have the opportunity to take class with him, do it!
An awesome and very supportive professor. I would take his class any day.
Overall really great experience. The professor provides all necessary tools to be successful, and is truly caring towards his students. He communicates with the intent of treating the students as Project Managers, making it a unique experience as if you are working in a high level position. His lectures are simple, detailed, and consistent. B+Final
The projects were fun and relevant to the career. Tests are very rigorous, and it may be due to wording, but study everything he provides because you will be tested on details. Responsive professor.
He was simply amazing. He really cares about students, communicates well, helps you as much as you need and expects you to read the syllabus and lectures. Perfect professor, just take his class.
One of the best professors I have ever had the honor to be taught by. He truly cares for each of his students and does a fantastic job at teaching the class. The class seems intimidating initially, but it becomes enjoyable once immersed. You will learn a lot, and I highly recommend taking him!
Good course. Will get a good grade if you do your due diligence.
Four group assignments and three exams. Exams come from slides. Super chill, one of the best classes at UTD so far.
Group projects are well designed .
My gosh, he is a very nice man and instructor and very compassionate about project management.
I am very happy that I took his class. It was excellent and he is a great professor.
If you have the opportunity to take him, DO IT! He is so sweet and genuinely cares about his students. In terms of the class, the group project is easy but requires you to participate and pull your weight. When reviewing for an exam, don't skim over the slides and expect to be prepared, you must really understand the concepts on the slides given.
He is really engaging with the student. If you want an easy class, take him.
I am so glad taking his course, he is a wonderful instructor and really cares about students.
He is a very good professor and he really cares about his students! I took OPRE 3330 in this summer. Honestly, it needs some work to get a good grade but not very hard. I REALLY recommend if you need to take a class, Professor Alborz is a wise choice! Grades are made up of 3 exams (25% each) and a project (25%). Study and you won't be disappointed!
You are graded heavily on three exams - for an MBA class, thought I was on a undergrad class. Too many readings not applicable especially if you do not have a project management background. For an MBA class, this is the worst I had. This Professor really thinks that everyone has time to read his boring slides. Worst professor I've had.
If you have a lot of things going on in your life, a full time job for example, etc. do not take this Professor as he expects you to read his slides and watch his videos. Test heavy and this is the only basis for this class since he does not read the group project to begin with and the default is 100% as long as you submit something.
Not sure why he is recommended but all my years with UTD, this is probably one of the profs that is inconsiderate and just is so strict with grades. You have MBA students who are more than likely have a busy schedule, stop grading them based on just exams - the outside world does not function like that.
Great professor who cares about students. The class has some group projects, but they're manageable. For exams, really understand the concepts - can't just skim slides. unstuckstudy ai was super helpful for prep alongside the class materials.
He is a chill professor his test isn't that hard at all.
Exams are fine, and each exam has 25%, so nothing different about it. all is good.
He is a great instructor, very compassionate, helpful and always available outside of the class for issues related to teams or assignments. He lectures very nicely and is a great guy.
His class is relatively not hard since the way he teaches, very engaging and fun interactions. He really cares about the students, their development and answers nicely so take his class if you get a chance.
He is definitely a great professor. He is concern about students and often sends encouraging emails. There are a few assignments that are mainly group work and also 3 exams, so read all the slides.
He has group projects and those are easy to do as long as you get a good teammate that help you to get them done. The lectures are straightforward and nicely done. I had an issue with taking an exam and he helped me without any problem. He is funny too.
He appreciates when you show up for the class and all you need to do is to read the slides for the 3 exams and questions are multiple choice based on slides. There are 3-4 simple assignment too so all is good.
He always helps students and accommodates fairly. Explains materials very clearly and walks you through every step, and helps with providing feedback on assignments. Take his class if you can.
Shawn Alborz is an amazing professor—chill, with the right amount of sass, and genuinely caring. He shares inspiring messages about gratitude, teamwork, and striving for excellence. His teaching is clear, relatable, and engaging, making complex concepts easy to grasp. A perfect mix of humor, motivation, and focus makes his class unforgettable.
This professor is great. He was very quick in responding to emails. The class is very test heavy, so those determine your grade. Tests are from the slides.
He is a amazing professor and super funny. Super understanding and sometimes answers random questions on tests during testing time for you. Lectures are fun and he doesn't make them long at all. Would definitely take again.
Professor Alborz is a great teacher. He is really funny and makes the lectures enjoyable and fun to listen to. Class consists of group projects but is very test heavy. The first test will catch you off guard, so make sure you study hard. The tests get easier but you have to listen to the lectures and take notes over each slide.
Class was easy, there was no attendance. 5 or 6 assignments, and they were all pretty simple. Most of your grade is from the tests, and the tests are all memorization straight from the slides. If you study enough for them, you'll be fine. One group project where you present about the technology used by your assigned company.
ITSS330 Best prof I've had this semester. Very clear lectures based on textbook (you don't need to buy it) and the exams are straightforward. The homework assignments are simple and the project is doable with a couple partners. He is very lighthearted and funny so this course is quite stress free. PS Loves to bring bananas to give out to students.
Professor Alborz is amazing! His passion for teaching and caring for students makes his class enjoyable and engaging. He simplifies complex material, shares funny anecdotes, and is always ready to help. His motivational emails are a thoughtful touch. I always looked forward to his class and can't wait to take him again next semester!
He's an excellent professor and the class is easy to manage. There's 3 tests and the content is all in the slides he provides. If you pay attention in class, you will pass with a great grade.
Mr. Alborz's lectures were very engaging and efficient. There weren't many assignments (about 5 total, both individual and group-based) and weren't difficult yet were still very practical. All of his exams were lecture and slide based and readings weren't required. I had a great experience!
Professor Alborz was one of the most genuine and ready-to-teach professors I have had! He would always try his best to introduce topics thoughtfully and make sure to make the detailed heavy slides into a fun and engaging class! I additionally loved how he gave assignments similar to my major in CIS Tech. All in all, Professor Alborz was amazing!
He's an excellent professor who incorporates group projects, assigns minimal homework, and is test-heavy. If you focus on studying the slides he lectures on, you'll perform well. I highly recommend attending his lectures, as he provides additional insights and depth beyond what's covered in the slides.
Shawn's the best professor I had for my first semester of college! The course includes a couple assignments that are super easy, two group projects (one of them you have to present), and three exams. He does a good job with keeping his lectures short and straight to the point. The course is almost 3 hours, but dw he never keeps you that long.
Hands down one of the best profs ever, exams come straight from the slides and are also easy. Your homework is a semester-long group project coming up with a new product; get a good team. As long as you meet his instructions, he will give you 100% on the assignments. He would also give out 2 exam answers during the exams. Overall, outstanding Prof.
Professor Alborz is a passionate and dedicated teacher who makes learning both enjoyable and relevant. He genuinely cares about his students going above and beyond to ensure they fully understand the course material. His engaging teaching style fosters a great learning environment, and I can't wait to take another class with him!
Professor Alborz is a passionate and dedicated teacher who makes learning enjoyable and meaningful. He genuinely cares about his students, going above and beyond to ensure they fully understand and master the course material. His engaging teaching style fosters a positive environment, and I can't wait to take another class with him!
He was an amazing professor! He kept the homework to a minimum where he could, and there were really only two group assignments, one of which was a presentation. If you listen to the lectures or at least read the slides he posts, you'll be able to keep up.
Chill guy, easy class, just a bunch of group work but he makes it as easy as possible. He doesn't want to be in class as much as you do, so he makes it funny and engaging. He literally bought 100lb worth of bananas to give out to different classes throughout the semester, and obviously, he cares about students.
Great professor and the class is pretty fair if you put in some effort
Amazing professor and amazing person
The Professor is very funny and helpful also random because during tests he would help the class . Furthermore, he ended up giving extra credit and a five point curve on the second test which boosted my grade to an A-. Professor Alborz is a good professor who teaches well and he even brought bananas for people if you study well you will be fine.
great professor, gave us a ton of extra points during exams and even at the end. the exams itself are weighted a lot but they weren't too hard if you studied a little bit (multiple choice). attendance isn't mandatory and you can honestly self-study, he always ends lecture early too in 3hr classes.
If you can memorize Slides, take him. I do not understand why an IT class is solely based on memorization. His tests were all in class and if you fail a test, you fail the class. The assignments barely helped and no extra credit was given. Lectures aren't very informative as he reads the slides but he is funny.
Just take him
HWs are 25% and exams are multiple choices. Study slides and you will be good to go. HWs are research based on companies and their technology stack. Very fun.
I took his class and I am going to take another one this semester. He is just great.
Class was so boring and lectures were as well. There were barely any assignments so if you failed the exam, you failed the class. He does give curves if needed but the class was really not helpful in terms of actually understanding the material because he made us take excel related exams on paper. If you can memorize things, you'll be fine.
PROFESSOR OF FUN! He's just great. I feel bad because I dont come very often but he is an obviously respected and intelligent person. Super funny, pretty lenient, and the material is intuitive. Don't forget to study for the tests (esp the last one) turn in your work (not hard, just dont slack off), and always remember to have fun with your project!
good professor, funny & caring
I just did my presentation and finished with my assignments. I enjoyed the lectures, and I really did, and he is a nice man and cares about students. Exams are 75% of the total grade.
Dr. Shawn is one of the best professor at JSOM! Highly recommend him if you want a funny and caring professor. He gave the whole class a cartload full of bananas. The only assignment for this class is just the project and it can depend on your group and 3 Exams (no cumulative). There is no study guide but if you want to do well study his slides.
100% should take, makes the class interactive through the semester long group project and overall a fun professor.
Classes just consisted of slides, and the project is quite simple and graded very leniently. However, the exams are quite subjective and difficult, and unfortunately tests reading comprehension levels over truw subject knowledge. Great professor, I just wish his exams were more straightforward.
Great Professor and fun class. Makes class fun and is hilarious.
This professor is amazing! He gives great feedback.
Great professor who truly cares for his students!!! Strongly recommend taking him
Anytime I sent him an email, he replied promptly and answered my questions. I appreciate his dedication to students.
I like his lectures, and students do not get bored. He is also available to help and review slides and other deliverables to ensure we are on the right track.
The course is great and I learned a lot, though there are many slides but he explains well and it is easy to follow. I like the calculation part more but PM is a great skill to have.
We had 3 exams, and each one was 25%, and we also had 3-4 homework, so it was a great course. He is nice, too, so if you have an issue, just talk to him.
I loved the group project because I learned a lot about how to deal with unproductive people. He is a very good mentor.
I went to his office and discussed my issue and he resolved it and helped me to stay on track. I appreciate his effort.
He is the best instructor this semester for me and very easy to get along.
He is funny and makes the lectures easy to understand and is also very helpful outside of class room.
I took his class before and I am taking another one with him. He brought bananas to class for everyone.
I actually looked forward to going to his class every week. He explains everything in a way that makes it easy for anyone to understand. He genuinely cares for his students and listens to any feedback given. He tries to make sure everyone has a smile on their face when they're in his class. Take his class if you can!
Look no further because you have found possibly the best professor at UTD. Absolutely hilarious and makes a 3 hour class pass in no time. His lectures are amazing and the group project was very easy. Most of his assignments are just follow the directions and get a 100 and the exams are easy. And yes he does bring bananas to class sometimes.
Extremely sassy & can come off as rude but is actually very caring, he buys bananas for his students every single class. He is really good at explaining concepts, grades are very exam heavy but it's pretty straightforward if you study the slides. A couple group projects & other assignments but the guidelines for them are very clear.
He's an okay professional kind of sassy which can come off rude. Only 3 test and one group project with assignments. His test however are kinda difficult and are more of trick questions not straightforward. He did add a good curve at the end of the semester. Overall he's sassy and can come off intimidating.
Very exam-heavy class 3 exams and 25% each with assignments also being 25%. He's an amazing professor but his exams were alright, not too difficult but definitely not super easy. If you fail one exam its going to be hard to get back on track since they are worth so much. He did give a lot of extra credit, which was very nice of him.
amazing professor. The course has three exams worth 75% total (40 MCQ, T/F) and 3 easy assignments worth 25%: a group project, designing a business flow, and a one page essay. Exams are not easy but not hard. A cheat sheet was allowed this semester, focus on key concepts and the math. he is a funny guy and lets class out early usually.
It didn't seem like he cared about us or if we did well :/ He let us have cheat sheets on exams which if we didn't have would be impossible to get an A. HWs are very easy (I think it's just completion grade). I wouldn't take him again, but he's doable. He did bring bananas and he's friendly, I just didn't vibe with him
