horrible teacher...sincerely speaking, he has NO sense of teaching whatsoever, his "notes" don't help, he cannot teach well, and claims that he is still learning the material--not very helpful at all. avoid him if possible. bottom line: nice guy, horrible teacher
Nice guy, but his teaching skills need work
Dr. Christensen needs to seriously reevaluate his chosen profession. His "classes" were a joke. I am a 4.0 student and indeed received an "A" in this class, but not without due headache and heartache stemming from the outrageous antics of Shawn Christensen!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! This is really for your own good, if there are not any other teachers open, wait another semester to take the class. He told me to memorize 20 amino acid stuctures for test when only 1 appeared on the test. (he writes them too) The tests are too hard. 1/4 of the class received an A or B, 1/2 failed.
This guy is hard!!!Do not worry about reading and studying his lectures it will help little. He will tell you if it's in the book you must know it and he is not kidding. You may never cover the stuff which will be on his test. Over half fail his class and he will state this( he seems proud of it) Do not take him.
I just finishes my final and I must say that I have never been happier to be rid of Shawn Christensen. I am going to make an A but I spent 15+ hours a week studying. You must know your book because he gives no real review. Lecture is not helpful because he simply reads his power points...doesn't teach them. Nice guy...terrible prof.
He tries to give curves and grades fairly, but he teaches a 1000 class like it should be a 3000 or 4000 class. For exams you have to know all the diagrams and definitions. You learn a lot in his class, but most of it you have to teach yourself, or study from his power points. Overall, Good guy, Hard class.
I'm not going to lie, you are expected to read and understand the textbook... Which around chapter five gets a little confusing. It's a lot of work, and his test weren't multiple choice last semester. They were short answer, however, he was pretty generous in handing out points... Especially when 75% of the class failed the first midterm.
he expects you to know the material and doesn't seem to really care about his students. 90 % of the students failed the first medterm and half the questions on there when he was going over it he had trouble answering it!!!!
He is a nice guy, but mostly cares about his research. If you are not willing to put hours of time in his class do not take him and i am serious. I read others comments on this site and thought o it will be ok i am a good student...seriously this is such a hard class and going to class is worthless
really hard
He knows biology very well. However, he is a researcher NOT a professor. He can NOT explain when a student ask him question. Sign up early for classes b/c those that sign up late will be stuck with him. It's a freshmen course but he expects you to know all the details like you were going to do research like him.
the best thing about this guy is that you can guess what will be on the tests. He says pay attention to major figures and be able to explain that. If you can do that then you can get an A. Attending lecture is also helpful because he REALLY goes over the figures there. FIGURES! FIGURES! FIGURES!
OMG if you can avoid taking him, do it! His class requires you to teach yourself. Be ready for the soapbox on why religion is stupid. Nice guy, but he's a horrible teacher.
not a good teacher. and he's rude
I already have a degree and was just trying to take some pre-reqs, so I have had plenty of good and bad professors to rate him against and he rates at the absolute bottom of my list in teaching ability. Getting a good/decent grade is not hard if you just study the book on your own. He knows te subject matter well but can't teach it at a 1441 level.
Upper level bio class, first time teaching it. The test were ridiculously long and 2 hours in had to be reduced to 15 out of 32 questions (of which you chose which 15 he would grade). Overall subject matter was easy IF you are a grad student. If undergrad, be prepared to teach yourself. His project was a waste of time. Final was optional.
He is more interested in research than teach. Bur for his test, a good percent of the questions come from the questions at the end of each chapter. For the short answers, he even tell you what to memorize. It's not a very hard class if you are willing to study some.
Advanced molecular biology was the most awesome class I took while at UTA. It was extremely challenging and hard as hell but I learned a ton! Learned the invaluable skill of how to read/understand research papers and how to THINK. He even let me come work in his lab. He is an awesome guy and you will learn alot scientifically and philosphically!
not interested in the studnets acted like he was wasting his time
Rants sometimes. you will be fine if you read your book especially the ch. quiz at the end. recording the class and looking at slides very helpful if you want o survive.
He's really nice, easy to approch and really knowledgable about biology. He doesn't really teach, he mostly clarifies the concepts. You must read the book if you want to do well on the tests, which are very detailed and hard. Over all a great teacher, would most likely take another one of his courses.
Seems like a nice guy. However, he tends to ramble and mumble at his lectures and doesn't seem to explain things well. I could tell that the students were getting very frustrated. Reading the textbook and using the slides he provides online will help.
Avoid him take Fredericks he does not teach and doesn't see to care about students si is not helpful bc she sometimes don't understand him. Go to the science clinic for help or hire a personal tutor.
Dr. Christensen DOES definitely go on rants. However, he posts his slides online so they can be reviewed. Reading the textbook is absolutely necessary!!! Definitely attend the SI sessions. I studied the chapter questions a little, and read (completely) 4 out of the 6 chapters included on the test and made an 86. It's possible to do well! :)
Every class it's guaranteed that he will rant for at least 20 minutes on evolution and logical fallacies. He will occasionally throw in information that is not in the book so attendance is a must. He assigns outlines over every chapter, which he basically wants you to rewrite the chapter in your own words and draw all of the pictures.
He seems to be a really good guy, but his class is so uninteresting. He just rambles and mumbles on a lot of things. At times, it's very hard for me to understand. His class was pretty much a self taught class for me. You would do good if you read the books and go over the power points.
attend every SINGLE lecture, go to his office hours and ask questions. he is very nice and helpful. Know anything about evolution that he discusses, guaranteed to show up on tests. He loves to put figures on the test, and dont memorize, understand the concept. know his powerpoints VERY WELL, dont really need book.
the nicest professor you will ever have!!! he is very helpful during office hours, and his tests arent any "harder" compared to other bio teachers, i have taken several practise tests and all are similar expect he adds more info from his powerpoints then the book. never used the book but did well in class because went over powerpoints! GL :)
wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. He is a very smart man but some people are ment to teach & others are ment to be in a cave doing research for the school..he would be one.He rambles in several of tangents which he later ends by saying"you don't need to know any of that"And he will try to engrave evolution in your brain.prepare2teach yourslf
Ok, it's not hard. You just have to study. This is college. Yes he rambles, but it's nothing you need to know for the test, so what's the problem? Read the chapters & the practice questions at the end of the chapters- he puts several of them on the tests. Also, do well in lab- 1441 lab is an easy A! He's very helpful if you go to his office hours.
Christensen is very intelligent but it's difficult trying to learn the material in his classroom. He rambles a lot in class, especially anything that pertains to evolution. As long as you read his powerpoints, do some quizzes from the end of each chapter, and read the book then you'll manage to get an A.
Attendance isn't mandatory but he WILL mention very important details about what will be on the test & the short answers on random days. His tests are very detailed/harder comp. to other profs and has a lot of figures. READ the book and do the questions at the end of each chapter. The key to passing his class is comprehending not memorizing.
Managed to make a B+ in his class, but seriously, this class gave me a headache! You have to study A LOT for this class...like almost every night -.- He rambles, doesn't explain & can get off topic. The good thing about him is that he curves:D Go to his office hours because he'll remember you! Christensen is a very nice guy, but a horrible teacher.
I would not suggest taking him. He is very scattered when teaching and doesn't really know how to teach very well at all. You basically have to teach yourself everything and you must study really hard. His tests are challenging.
He does not explain concepts very well and makes it more difficult than it has to be. do not take him!! even if his class is the only one open do not!!
This professor is terrible. I'm taking him right now and he cannot teach!! All he does is ramble on about a topic and at the end of it all says, "you don't need to know this". I would not suggest taking him. I dropped out because of him.
First and foremost, this professor will not hand feed you and I would NOT recommend him if you aren't a science major. He, however, is extremely knowledgeable on the subject he teaches and is very willing to answer questions (he's very nice). You need to read the textbook ALONG with attending his class to fully understand the material.
His teaching style is much harder than the other science teachers, and studying is much more about general theories than what's on the test. The tests are hard because it's difficult to know what will be on the test, but overall I am leaving the class with a much more thorough knowledge of biology than other classes. Also he gets work back quick.
I feel sympathetic for the man mostly because the majority of the lecture consists of him trying (what I imagine) to prove to himself that he knows the information, which results in him jumping around his slides, contradicting himself, correcting his previous statements, rambling off topic. It is painful to watch. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
It is true that he sometimes goes on rants and gets off-topic, but I think it is because he knows so much about the material, he can't "dumb it down" for us to understand. If you go to him after class, he is very helpful and will explain stuff you are not sure about. Just be sure to study the book and the PowerPoint slides and you will be fine.
I enjoyed the class. We really used the book for the chapter outlines we would turn in. It was a hard class because there was so much info to take in.
This class is the WORSTTT! Do NOT take this class for the life of you and your health. I studied EVERY DAY, and still only got a C. I even went to his office hours and got help! He is a great guy, very nice, but he is not a good teacher at all. He probably should have stayed doing his research instead of confusing our minds.
I am a Biology major. I received a B. Great guy..horrible teacher. Glad I understood chemistry because he is a biochem. Don't take unless you have already had chem and plenty of biology. I felt bad for the freshman.
This professor is really nice he simply does not know how "dumb" the material down. You WILL need to read, he makes you do an outline for every chapter he assigns. The exams are super hard. He uses a few questions from the end of the chapters and he throws in short answers as well! In general this course has been one of the hardest.
Lectures way over your head. He doesn't explain the little stuff before moving on to tougher information
Dr. Christensen is a visual person; if you don't like drawing and interpreting diagrams, good luck. If you put in a lot of work you will get the grade you desire. This class requires CONSTANT studying. Do not wait until the night before to start opening the book, you have to read each chapter carefully. Grades on a curve, helps out a bit.
This class is really tough and he doesn't know how to explain things really well.
This class is going to be difficult for you if you do not have a good background in ChemBio. There are only 3 exams (& the final) for this class, his lectures are hard to follow, & you have to study A LOT if you want to do well. However, he is always willing to help & very nice, but if you can take another class, I recommend that you do.
He is a really tough professor. He doesn't know the difference between freshman biology and his upper level genetics and biochemistry. You will need an upperclassman to help clarify some things for you. His lectures are confusing. You need to read the book religiously. Also, his homework is tedious. You'll learn a lot, but you need to work for an A
Dropped his class after the 1st exam, though I made an 85 on it. He asks you for assignments & chapter outlines (VERY TIME CONSUMING). He does it to help you, but it puts more weight on your shoulders. He is a researcher, so he incorporates his chemistry research in lectures and is very confusingmumbles. I'm sorry 'cause he's so nice, but just no.
I dropped the class after the second exam. I did not pass nor did I even come close to passing the two exams. He does not explain the topic at all so you will be confused. His tests are very hard and he makes you take notes out of your textbook and turn it in for a grade that doesn't even help your test grade.
His 1441 isnt that hard as long as you go to class and read. They're are 3 tests and a final that's. I got an A because I read and went to class, if you don's you will probs fail.
1441 is crazy hard, I would not recommend him. It's clear that he means well and is a very nice guy, but he is not great at clearly explaining concepts. Expect to really study all the major processes, because he makes you redraw them on tests just like they are in the book. Other 1441 professors will provide better resources to pass.
He's extremely fond of pictures. He makes you do chapter outlines with ALL of the pictures drawn out. you get a grade for these, mastering biology, and tests. tests are hard and usually made the night before and he takes FOREVER to post grades. he curves A LOT at the end of the semester.
do not take him he never helped or answered my emails... he was never clear enough on what he wanted to say in his lectures and he goes way too fast...
By far the worst class to take with this professor. He is extremely difficult. I recommend no incoming freshman take this professor. He will ruin your GPA before you even start. Class is HARD!!!! And he does not know how to teach!!!
His lectures did not help at all, hard to follow. If you want to pass, YOU will have to do all the heavy lifting, read religiously & study in advance. He's nice, he'll help if you ask but he's hard to understand. You don't have to do chapter outlines anymore. Three tests, final, and 5% Mastering Biology. Would NEVER take again, no offense Dr. C.
Dr. Christensen is nice and tries to be helpful but this class is very difficult. He has a hard time "dumbing" down concepts. The tests are hard, but he curves a lot. If you want an A, you'll have to work hard for it.
Not as hard as most people think. If you sit down and read go to class everyday you should be fine i barely lifted a finger and only studied prior to the tests and got a C. Extremely Difficult to fail this class if you want something higher than a C you're going to have to work for it. Tests were meh
Dr C's class was a slap in the face. Do NOT get cocky. Read the chapters, listen in lecture, take notes. He curves a lot so it's difficult to fail. His lectures are monotone at times, but he's very passionate. Office hours help your grade. He's a very sweet man, but most imp thing is to READ! Some say if you ace his class, you could ace anything.
Dr. Christensen is a nice guy, he curves every test and provides a little info on what's going to be in it. I think the problem with his class is that people are not used to reading everyday and truly know, not memorize, the information in the textbook. This class will definitely challenge your studying habits. Class is not mandatory, btw.
Lowest score I got on his tests was a 100 so I could probably help a lot out there. Outlining the chapter as you read is essential to understanding the concepts. I only went to the lecture so he could tell me what I need to know and what I don't need. So many people fail his test because they expect to learn from the lecture, don't be that person.
Hardest professor I've ever had. If you are a freshman NEVER I repeat NEVER take him for biology. His test are extremely hard and also he makes you do chapter reviews.
Follow everyone else's advice, get ready to read the textbook. Dr. Christensen's lectures are like an additional push to really grill concepts into your head because the class can get kind of repetitive. He's very generous with his grading and curves but you still need to work for an A. Work hard in bio lab too in case your test grades arent great.
Though very passionate and knowledgeable in his field, Dr. Christensen is not a very viable professor to take if one wishes to understand and excel in biology. Lectures are not very helpful and can often put one to sleep if they aren't careful. The textbook and other online sources will be the best resources to use if you take his course.
Be prepared to teach yourself. You will have to read the book, and watch videos to understand the material. Also, there is a Campbell Biology Study Guide book that really helped. The only reason I ever went to class was because sometimes he would say, "this will be on the test". Although I don't prefer him, he does give very good curves on tests!
One of the best professors - and best classes - I've had in college. Period. By making us read primary and secondary research papers, Dr. C helped us become better scientists and thinkers. Absolutely engaging lecturer - and ignore the comments from all the freshmen who don't like him for intro undergrad bio. He's one of the gems of the bio dept.
no matter who you take, its a hard course. we had mastering biology online homework. he DOESNT use test bank, some questions came from end of ch. While hes difficult, he gives HUGE curves & if you have an A youre exempt from the final. I didnt attend any lectures, but read, memorized the cycles, & went to office hrs. where he hinted what to study
I think what made this class more difficult than usual for me was the fact that it was a summer class (five weeks) and it didn't seem like he had taught a summer course before. However, he was very helpful and available and he does what he can to help you pass the grade as long as you show up to class and actually try. He also curves the exams.
He specifically told me to take the reviews on here with a " grain of salt" as they were untrue and just submitted from people who failed. TRUST these reviews! His lectures were literally all over the place and totally not helpful. Get ready to basically have to teach yourself from the book. Only reason I got an A was bc of his generous curving !
He is extremely intelligent. He is not able to communicate from a higher level of understanding to an introductory level, but he does try hard to. You will need to read the book and teach yourself. He tracks attendance/participation with Echo360 questions that are a part of your final grade. Make a friend in class who can tell you when to answer it
I took him for BIO 1441 and he was a bad introduction into my college career. I'm lucky I managed to get out of there with a D. It was difficult for me to pass. He crammed so much information into lectures, and there was no review for the wordy tests. Each day of testing, you had to turn in a certain number of pages with notes from book reading.
They switched to departmental tests which makes it hard because you can get a test question on a subject you've never heard of before. I think he's very smart but doesn't know how to teach because he talks on a higher level than a freshman college student can even comprehend. You really need to read the textbook and understand it yourself.
Don't take him. He's awful. I'm a straight A student and even I say he's awful. He teaches totally different material than what you need to know for the test and I had to basically teach myself everything from the book. Departmental tests rely on info from the book. He teaches like you already know the material and is not helpful. No extra credit.
Had to read the Cambell text over and over in order to make curved A's on all the tests. Never read textbook before this course, his lectures just forced me to. It's been almost two years since I took the course, made all A's in others since then. If you want to succeed in college, he is a great way to start. READ READ READ, then you will be fine!
Prof. Christiansen is a brilliant man, but an otherwise poor teacher, at least for biology freshmen. His lectures are unfortunately difficult to grasp and ultimately pointless in taking the exams, which rely mainly on the course textbook. Take him only if you intend on reading and studying on your own.
Prof. Shawn tends to get ahead of himself when he is lecturing, resulting in confusing his students. You need to read the book to understand even a slight semblance of what he is talking about and maybe even visit his SI. His is very intelligent, just not the greatest teacher of his subject.
This professor was alright at best. He tries but in truth it just isn't enough. If you want to understand, then go to every class. Go to the SI. And form study groups. I think the only reason I'm passing is because my class formed a mass chat on Group Me. We helped one another. This professor is smart, just not a teacher.
Lectures are not exceptionally useful. Difficult class, but prof is a nice guy. So long as you study outside of class (a lot) you will pass.
Christensen is really smart, but he doesn't know how to convey information in a way where students will understand it. You will do most of your learning by reading the textbook. The only reason I ever went to class was to get the participation points.
Dr. Christensen is actually a very caring professor and also very kind, on the personal level. However, when it comes to lecturing, he often makes lessons confusing. Even after reading the book, the way he explained some concepts were very confusing. Rereading a chapter over and over again is the best way to go.
A lot of people do not like to take Dr. Christensen, but he's really not that bad. He is not the best, but honestly as long as you read the book and understand the concepts you can make an A. He doesn't require you to come to class but you probably should.
There were 4 tests besides the midterm and does interactive questions online to keep attendance during class. He is monotone and gets off track in lecture very often. READ THE BOOK. The tests come from the book and he will only confuse you in lecture when he skips around.
You have to teach yourself and get used to reading the book and youll be fine. Lectures are pointless
This class was incredibly rough and me and all my friends in the class failed. Given, I probably didn't try as hard as I could have, but a couple of my friend put in a lot of time, effort, and tears but still didn't pass. Hats off to anyone that can make it through BIOL 1441 with Christensen.
Dr. Christensen is the kind of person who is incredibly brilliant and knowledgeable in their field but struggles to convey that information to people who do not inherently understand or have a knack for it. His lectures jump around like crazy. You basically have to read the book and teach yourself the material. He seems nice at least.
Professor Christensen is a great person, unfortunately, hes not the best teacher. Its almost like hes too smart. He gets off topic very easily and his lectures can be confusing if thats where youre trying to learn. Read the book and take good notes before you go to class then figure out what you need to know. Its time consuming but worth it.
Dr. Christensen is a kind person and very intelligent but he's not a good lecturer. He skips around between the slides and gets off topic. You basically have to teach yourself. Read the powerpoints to get an idea of what you need to know, then go over those sections in the textbook. Getting an A is doable, but you HAVE to read the book!
Honestly, all of the bio1441 professors are the same. Unfortunately, Christensen was not the best but his class was manageable. The exams are departmental and there is no real extra credit. If you want an A or a B then you have to work for it. I promise the A is doable. Also, go to his office hours and go to tutoring sessions!!! You got it!
You'll have to teach yourself. I ended up going to Dr. Clark's lectures as well because he actually knew how to teach and made cute dad jokes. Make sure to find a study group or some friends who are also taking the course to help study.
Attendance isn't mandatory but the class will be really hard if you don't attend lectures. The material is hard but he is a good professor and is more than willing to help students.
Shawn isnt that bad. At first I did poorly on the first exam but that was because I didnt read the textbook. You dont have to listen to the lectures but you do need to read the textbook. He was actually really nice to me because after I bombed the first exam I put in a lot of effort and brought my grade up by a lot. Mod quizzes save your grade
Where do I even begin? I'm a student who already knows the topic, so I can't say if it's hard or enough. However, some of my peers were already struggling with chem and bio (most were pre-med), so this class was horrendously taught. The insane amount of how poor the teaching was is palpable, even when I was at home. 1 star is generous.
I was self-taught. I relied on lecture slides the most, followed by the textbook. He had in-person "active learning sessions," but they weren't helpful for me. The tests can be difficult, so you need to study a lot. The work in the course is the same no matter the professor, so find a better teacher if you can. The final class average was a mid-C.
Shawn is absolutely terrible to take your freshman year. He openly admitted that he wasn't sure on how to teach his students, and that's a red flag! The only way that you'll be able to even grasp the concepts and be able to understand his lectures is by reading and taking notes on the 5-8 top to bottom pages of online reading. I wouldn't recommend!
Professor Christensen seems to struggle to convey introductory biology concepts given his advanced knowledge in them. I once asked a question that would traditionally have a one-sentence answer, but the explanation lasted about three minutes. I recommend at least 10 hours of weekly study, or as many as it takes to not fall behind.
This professor does not teach or explain in lectures, he makes you watch lecture videos which is just him reading PowerPoints but not explaining anything.
he doeson't teach us anything in class. Tests are really hard. Don't take him, or anyone at UTA.
As long as you study the slides and learn the objectives, you will do good. He is always available after class to explain stuff a concept you don't get and he also has office hours for extra help. Concepts in biology can't be understood by just a few sentences and he explains in as simply as he can. Class does require some studying time at home.
Lectures can be a little hard to follow but I thought were mostly helpful. Asking questions can also be difficult as he's not great at answering them. That being said, despite that I was successful in the course so I don't think these small things made a huge difference.
Occasionally gave incorrect information in the lectures and sometimes he struggled to explain some concepts in simple terms, but if you enjoy biology I think you would like him. Otherwise, it may be wise to look for an easier professor.
He read from the slides throughout the entire semester. I stopped attending the lectures, read the lecture slides at home, and got a B. I would not take him unless he's your only option.
I'm already good at Biology so I don't consider it hard but for some people I've met, they struggle in his class. He mostly reads off lecture slides and is generally boring except in some rare cases. Just study the lecture slides and texts in the modules + watch YouTube videos to simplify things cuz he's not the best at simplifying things
I don't understand Dr. Shawn's low ratings. He's a great guy who even brought donuts for our lesson. I was nervous due to negative reviews, but those students didn't put in the effort. I got As with a few hours of study for each exam. The course focuses on memorization, but understanding matters too. I enjoyed it and appreciated the extra credit.
This is actually for Biol 3359. This class was ran by 2 professors who are extremely cruel when it comes to grading. The homework are tedious and requires some kind of coding online. Tedious. This is an elective class but took more energy than Biochem? be for real lmao. Don't take it if its not required in your degree plan.
I took the seminar with this guy and he's impossible to reach and condescending if you finally do. He never clearly stated how many seminars we had to attend and then dropped the grading scheme literally in the last week of class. His syllabus still has everything blank. What a joke. If it wasn't just for 1 credit, maybe I'd bother arguing it.
His class is very boring because he just sits at the front of the hall and lectures. I find it hard to concentrate on what he is saying so I end up teaching myself the material from home. His homework assignments are unlimited attempts, and he has practice problems to study for exams. You have to study for this class in order to do well.
He reads off the slides and his lecture style didn't personally click for me but the homework was really easy and there is very few of it so your grade depends heavily on the practice exam and exam. The content isn't very hard and if you study everything on the slide you should be good.
super chill guy. his lectures were a bit boring, he tempts to just read over a powerpoint. found myself teaching me the own material
All he does is lecture. There isn't much class participation except on test study days. I never really went to class, just copied down the lectures from the slides and passed easy.
He's a good professor and knows what he's talking about, but it's just hard to follow some of his explanations. He mostly reads off slides during the lecture, then assigns homework and readings. There's nothing wrong with him as a professor; the class is just hard. I would study for hours before the tests and still barely get a passing grade.
He was really good at explaining difficult concepts when asked questions and was able to give many different analogies. While he did read of the lecture slides at some points he did draw many diagrams that made sense. Overall, I would recommend taking him as a professor!
Dude I was scared when I saw his review when picking my classes over the summer, but if u fail his class don't plan on being pre med HE IS THE GOAT. He reads the lecture slides during class but he will thoroughly will explain the topic if asked. He has so many ways for u to succeed he literally drops the lowest homework and practice exam. Study!!
His lectures are just reading off his slides, which were available on canvas. If you skip class and go over the slides, you'll be fine. Practice tests the class before actual tests were really helpful too. Overall I'd take him again.
Don't understand why he has a low rating here. He does tend to mostly read off the lecture slides during class but he's very nice and willing to answer questions and talk to you both during and after class if you need help. He even drops your low grades and he made practice probs for each module. Just make sure to read the supplementary materials!
I would not recommend taking this professor. I have emailed him regarding concerns I have about his class and have NEVER recieved an email back. He goes off on tangents during his lectures and then says "Oh but you don't need to know that for the exam"... If you study on your own and are capable of teaching yourself, you'll be fine.
lowk easy class. the only day i showed up to lecture was syllabus day and bc i dozed off... i never went again. only showed up on practice exam and exam days and they were both so easy. all the exam info are on the slides and if u just retake the practice problems like. 10 times before the test (takes bout 20 mins) youd be aight.
he knew a lot about to subject, simple lecture but he answers questions, had to do a lot of studying to pass, there is a text book but you don't need to buy it cause he posts it, 4 exams ,1 final. there were 2 extra credit opportunities and lowest HW and Practice Exam gets dropped hes a nice dude, kinda funny.
Lectures are informative, but it isn't necessary to attend them. All you need to know for the course is to rely heavily on the presentations (like memorize them) and test yourselves on the checkpoints, and you will do great. Don't expect replies to emails; one flaw from this professor. Overall, a great professor and a great course!
