Thinks bio is easy, and thinks you're dumb if you don't. Fun class, funny guy, but doesn't throw you many bones on quizzes or lab reports. Not too bad, not too good.
Really fun class, and a nice guy. Quizzes are a little rough, but thats ok.
Awsome teacher, he teaches physics at a level that it should be taught at. It is by it's very nature a tough subject and dumbing it down, as so often happens, is an insult to to the student. Shawn teaches with the assumption that the student has a brain and can use it. If you want to learn physics than take this course.
Im in his class now and the average for the tests so far is a 60%. The tests are multiple choice but there are only 10 hard problems and no partial credit. He does not curve the class either! Unless you are a good test taker and dont like curves, dont take this class.
I've never had a better teacher. Shawn is really fantastic. He manages to explain and demonstrate concepts in such a clear and interesting way. Physics can be impossible for some without the right teacher. Jackson is a HUGE help in understanding material. The course is quite tough, but that's physics.
He does great demonstrations. Really knows how to teach. He is also funny and nice.
aweome guy, i'm not sure what the other people say he's not easy. even if you bomb the quizzes, i managed to pull an A. he is more like a student, not a teacher. i had a ton of fun in his class.
He is an awesome prof! His lectures are so clear and he keeps you engaged by being funny and sarcastic. He does great in class demos so you can understand and visualize the concepts. Not an impossible class or even close. Just have to do all of the homework, example problems, and really study his notes and you'll do great!
Prof. Jackson is about as good as it gets for physics. If you can't understand it the way he teaches, you won't understand it anywhere.
Dr. Jackson makes the physics/math as clear as anyone can. Rarely goes through a lecture without making sure everyone is following, granted it was a smaller class. Approachable and helpful.
An excellent professor and very helpful.
A tricky course, the lack of a requirement for homework might tend to make you stop doing it, but it needs to be done anyways. His tests are hard, but his lectures are clear and he is somewhat generous with partial credit.
Awwesome!
Amazing.
I think he sounds like Richard Gere. Which helps if you aren't taking the class for "fun". Just make sure you do the homework (even though it's not required), because tests are 85% of your grade. The labs are ridiculously easy. He's a really great teacher and isn't at all boring.
Difficult material. tests are super hard and he doesn't curve them at all. one tip: DO THE HOMEWORK!
Physics 141 is going to be difficult regardless of the professor. However, Jackson is very clear and always tries to make sure students understand the topic before starting something new. Homework is optional but it's a good idea to do it. Average test scores are about 65%. Labs are pretty easy, but the tests are not and they count a lot more.
Jackson is the man. He explains everything as clear as it can be explained. Yes phys 241 is hard, and yes the tests are way hard, but jackson is the prof. to have. Spend a lot of time on the optional homework if you want to do well on the tests. Also try to find out what is in his red cup.
He's one of the best lecturers on campus. His teaching is always clear and interesting. His exams are difficult though, so be prepared to study hard, but it is a difficult subject. I wouldn't recommend any other professor for physics.
Hard class. Hard Tests. Do the homeworks and example problems he does on the board. Great at explaining
I liked Jackson but didn't like the class. He was pretty good at explaining things, the tests weren't TOO bad (I think it depends on the TA and how generous they are with partial credit). He was pretty entertaining sometimes, and has kind of a dry sense of humor which I didn't begin to appreciate until towards the end of the semester.
A great teacher! Great at explaining a really complex subject. Tests are actaully fairly simple when comapred to some of teh more complex examples done in class. If you can , have him as a teacher!
Everyone else seemed to like him, but I didn't pay attention much. Ended up with a B.
This man is one of the most professional instructors I have ever met. Usually he would spend a few minutes discussing the theory and then he would perform demonstrations and work out examples. He kept the class engaged by asking conceptual questions as he did the problems. He would always stop to answer any questions about the material.
Great teacher. He teaches without notes and really understands material. Asks lots of questions in class so you understand. Tests worth most of grade. Funny sense of humor with lots of jokes. He was so nice he went out to dinner with some of his students! Definately take his course if you have chance.
Prof. Jackson is one of the few great professors in the physics dep. He teaches through examples (problems from the back of the book) and demonstrations. Hw is not collected and not graded. Grade is based on 3 exams and final, final replaces the lowest grade. DO THE HOMEWORK and do more problems from stuff you don't get and you'll be just fine.
Passionate teacher, very enthusiastic, and clear! He has a way of presenting the material that makes it easy to swallow. I would definitely recommend this professor, just be sure to take some time to visit him during office hours.
Great professor! Explains the material very clearly and is very wiling to help. Also has a great sense of humor. Make sure you actually keep up with the optional homework and study his examples and the book since his tests come from the book and his examples as well as the homework.
Definitely one of my favorite professors that I've had at U of A. He is very clear when he teaches and makes the material seems so much easier. His jokes make the class more interesting also. Tests are hard but fair; he never tests you on anything he hasn't taught you. Take Jackson if you need a Physics class. He is definitely the best!
Electricity and magnetism is a very difficult subject by nature, but Jackson explains it well. He is unsurpassed in his teaching ability and is very helpful during office hours. However, be prepared to study hard for the exams, as they are very difficult (although they are very fair and well written). Tests averages ranged from 49 to 66 percent.
Honestly, all physics professors should teach like this guy. His personality is kinda awkward and odd, but overall he is great guy. He makes class somewhat exciting with demos. Now, you should already know that Physics will be one of the hardest classes you take, but as long as you do questions repeatedly and ask questions you should be fine.
He can be a bit short tempered and sarcastic, but he does a very good job lecturing on-the-fly (no notes in front of him). The class is difficult, but studying will help a lot since he pulls his tests from questions like the homework and examples. He ended up curving the class in the end by at least 5%. Labs don't line up to the lectures.
Hands down...the best Physics Professor I have ever had! He explains everything so clearly and actually makes the class enjoyable with his sarcasm and demos. Definitely one of my favorite professors that I have had so far at U of A.
If you have never taken physics before and are interested in really learning, jackson is about the best teacher to get. His tests aren't to trick you but to see if you have really learned. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you do not attend you probably will not pass. Homework is not collected, but again if you do not do it you will fail.
Its a tough class for sure, but he has lots of office hours and is very clear in explaining the subjects. He has lots of demonstrations to show the concepts, as well as lots of very well explained example problems in class. He is an excellent professor, i highly recommend him.
First off, Professor Jackson has a good sense of humor. Lectures consist mostly of thoroughly explained practice problems. I was slightly disappointed at how much the course was catered to the basic level, and frankly I found lectures somewhat boring as an advanced student. Exams were very straightforward and predictable.
Dr. Jackson's exams are similar to the homework problems and in-class examples, but they're still extremely challenging. Some of the TA's grade harshly and inconsistently and it takes them weeks to return exams. Dr. Jackson is nice in class, but is not very personable in office hours.
Jackson is the most difficult professor I have had at the UofA and without reason. His lectures are rarely informative or helpful for material covered on exams. He is intimidating and some people choose not to ask questions during class. The TA's are just an added annoyance and their ineptitude was on full display. Class test ave. F2010:51%,56%,61%
Jackson is hilarious, so long as you do not ask unimportant, tactless questions. His style of teaching stresses the importance of actually learning the subject rather than memorizing countless numbers of formulas and reducing yourself to no more than a computer. He was one of my favorite professors and I would recommend his class to anyone.
Easily one of the best professors/instructors I've ever had. Presents the material very well and shows plenty of examples. Some of the homework problems might get to people, but they are usually much harder than the actual test questions. And the tests are generally basic concepts. On a side note, the TA's are terrible in the lab sections.
Great teacher. Class is very difficult, but he teaches the material well. Tests are based on homework problems and in-class examples. Can be harsh when students ask questions in class, but in general a very good teacher and wants students to succeed.
Test averages were all over the place, but I feel that is because this really isn't a class you can study for the night before, which might work for other classes. However, if you practice the material regularly, I feel it is quite easy to get an A (especially with the curve). Super clear professor who knows what he's talking about.
One of the hardest classes I?ve taken so far. Test averages were low, TA?s are useless and grade hard. I went into office hours however Jackson is not friendly nor approachable, but apparently he is the best at UA. Overall one of my worst experiences.
Great professor. Physics is tough and gets frustrated many people but Dr. Jackson is great at teaching it. Like he says "I don't trick you" and he never does as the tests are oftentimes just like the basic homework problems. Definitely recommend him.
Graduating this year and to date this is the best professor I've had at the University of Arizona. Pay attention in lecture and do the homework and you can't do bad in his class. I learned more in his class than any class I've taken. Considered taking more physics classes, out of my major, just if Jackson was the teacher.
I loved going to Dr. Jackson's class, and I looked forward to it throughout the week. His demonstrations were amazing, and I left every lecture excited to learn more. He was extremely helpful when answering questions, and he was able to make complex ideas exceedingly clear to the students. I can't imagine a better instructor.
This was a 5-wk summer course. Dr. Jackson did an exceptional job presenting the material during lecture. Pay attention to his detailed examples & demos as they are often helpful for the exams. By no means was the course was easy. Unbelievably time consuming. WORK HARD; it will pay off. You will earn the grade you deserve. Great prof. overall.
Summer session was very difficult. Think twice before taking the lecture with the laboratory. Lab will take almost all of your time away from lecture. Although it is possible to do well in both; just know that you will have no social life. Jackson is one of the best professors, makes physics interesting and funny. Review in class and H.W. problems.
He has an interesting way of explaining certain concepts and has a sense of deadpan humor that makes going to lectures fun. I wish I understood what was going on though.
Dr. Jackson he has a great sense of humor and makes the class interesting. There is homework assign but he does't collect them. Do these and the class examples as the exams look just like them. It's hard to ask questions in class cause u feel dumb. If you are a self learner who is able to read the book and notes/lecture to study you'll do fine.
Dr. Jackson is the most fantastic lecturer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. His exams may be somewhat hard, but he explains things so well. I looked forward to going to his classes every time. He is the man to take for Physics at the U of A
Hate physics--love this guy. His demonstrations before diving into lecture helps clarify the material beforehand. Tests are pretty reasonable. I got the impression that he cares a lot about whether or not you actually understand the material, instead of just regurgitating it. Endearing professor. Almost makes me want to minor in physics.
Love this prof! He makes physics bearable. I absolutely hate physics don't get me wrong, but he makes it so that I can understand physics without having to kill myself studying (like i did in PHYS 102). I guess teachers really do make or break a class.
Very clear professor; makes lecture easy to understand with demos and cool informational tidbits. On exams, understanding the problems he does in class is as important, if not more, than the homework problems. Redoing the lecture problems and the homework will earn you an A (still challenging though).
Dr. Jackson is a good professor and his lectures are interesting and informative. He can come off as rude if you seem like you don't know what you are talking about, but he is a nice guy and is very passionate about Physics. If you go to class and study hard you can definitely get an A!
If you're going to take physics at UA, take it with him. He explains concepts with more detail than just what you need to know to do the homework--ie: he cares that you understand beyond mere regurgitation. Very low tolerance for BS, but other than that, cool guy. Final can replace your lowest grade. Prep for exams by doing hw AND class examples.
I really dislike physics, but Jackson makes it more than bearable. He's a great teacher that I would highly recommend.
I went to his office hours a lot, it really helped. He doesn't have any graded hw, which sucks b/c your entire grade depends on your exams, but he replaces the final score with your lowest and the final is pretty easy compared to the other exams.
Probably the best science teacher Ive had at UofA. He is extremely smart and teaches in a way that is so easy to follow. His tests are not easy at all. He barely provides enough time so if you mess up at all you probably wont finish. However, if you thoroughly understand all the in-class problems you will be fine on the test.
attendance is not mandatory, But you won't miss any class. He describe things very will and use in class simple experiments to show how theories work. Totally recommended and I will take phi 241 with him.
In class examples are good but could be better. Everything is out of the book. Outside class he's unapproachable. I met with a TA and saw Jackson sitting in his office with the door open so I asked a quick question (would have taken 2sec to give me an answer) he just rolled his eyes and told me to come back during office hours. Tests are HARD.
He is very nice, and explains things fairly well. However, the class is hard if you don't understand EMF or EMN. The only thing that gets graded are the four exams, and there is no rounding. TA's aren't good at grading, so if you think something is right, ask for a regrade or go into his office hours. Do the "homework"!
If you have to take physics, take Dr. Jackson. He is very clear in the lectures, his exams are doable if you did the homeworks and went to lecture. Do not procrastinate. Physics itself tends to be a hard subject, but you cannot go wrong taking Jackson.
Dr. Jackson does a lot of demonstrations which makes the lecture really useful. He also has a really great lecture style and I would definitely recommend him as a professor.
Physics 241 is hard no matter who teaches it. That being said, Jackson is a very good teacher. His tests are fair, similar to the given examples, and fairly graded. His lectures are clear and filled with an extremely dry sense of humor that made even physics a little more bearable.
The best lecturer that I have ever had before. He explains things with excellent clarity and precision. His exams are somewhat based off of the homework, which are also extremely difficult. The worst part of the class is that the entirety of your grade is only from the exams, which means that there is no grade buffer.
Had Jackson for PHYS 141 and 241. Awesome professor with super entertaining demonstrations in 241. You have to work HARD, to get an A in 241, but Jackson is probably the best person to take it with.
Great professor. He explains things well, he has a passion for the material, and he is always available for questions at the end of class or in his office hours. I think I saw some people even working on the homework in his office and asking questions on areas they got stuck on. Overall great professor. Textbook is required for the homework.
Jackson has a remarkable gift for teaching that I've very rarely seen the equal of. The text for Physics 204 is very, very poor, but Jackson makes it so that you'll never need to pick it up. Exams are very heavily based on homework and class examples, so you know exactly where to study and what to focus on.
Great guy and proffessor, knows his stuff and teaches it well. Easily approached in office hours and always a smile on his face. Holy cow though his classes are hard, you will work for your grade and be proud of it. Material in 204 is dense and not to be taken lightly.
Great professor! It's physics- so its hard, but Jackson makes it doable. Go to office hours and do assigned homework and redo class examples to prepare for exams. Jackson is one of the best professors I've had at the UA! Take his physics classes if you can!
Great teacher. Lectures are very well organized. Attend every lecture, do the homework, and you will do well in the class. Exams are heavily based on in-class examples and homework problems. The only bad thing - final was much more difficult than all the other exams.
Hard class in general. Jackson is super clear when teaching, makes the material understandable and he's always willing to help. However, it takes an entire class to get through a problem and a half, and then the exams are expected to be completed in the same amount of time but they include 5 3-part questions. If you enjoy physics you'll enjoy it!
You don't have to go to class, but you should. The material is pretty difficult, but if you pay attention in lecture (which is hard because he talks softly) then you can really learn most of it. Doing the homework helps too because he takes test question out of there. Tests are difficult and long.
He is a really solid professor and gives a plethora of examples in class. Tests can be tough, but really tests your knowledge, so do not slack off whatsoever in this class. However, this semester taking it, we did not cover a couple of chapters traditionally taught, but this is mainly due to the new structure of the class.
Great teacher. He's kind of hard to hear, so if you want a good grade, it's important to really pay attention and take notes. Do the homework! It's long but the vast majority of the test questions are homework problems. I struggled through the first test, so I started going to office hours and he was extremely helpful!
Jackson is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. Very clear and helpful. Doing the homework is important as the exam questions are very similar to the problems assigned. I would love to continue taking classes with him, but I really struggle with the grading scheme. The homework is worth 0-5% of the grade and so exams make up most of the grade.
My favorite professor so far
His lectures are clear; he is one of the best lecturers in the department. However, if you are not one of the top students in the class, he will disregard you as a human being; you become a number on a list that he clearly doesn't care about. Do every assignment, do every problem in the book, as he tests on mere memorization of problems.
He is hilarious and smart. He also knows how to teach. This class is crazy hard, but Jackson makes it bearable. Seriously though the man is a comedian.
Great professor! The content is challenging, but Jackson truly makes it as clear as it can be. He also isn't out to trick people with his exams, which is a huge plus.
I've had Jackson for two upper-division classes and can attest that he's the best teacher in our department. He color codes what he writes on the board and constantly engages the students in a helpful way. Do note that if you take his classes, Jackson's mood fluctuates, he gets stressed and sometimes gets snappy. Don't take it personally.
Jackson is a nice guy. His tests are made up of in class examples and problems from the homework. So go to class and do all the homework assignments. This class is hard, but go to his office hours and he will help you understand the material.
Excellent lecturer & helps a ton with questions. Lecture material is very related to homework and exam content.
He speaks and writes clearly. He paces his lectures in such a way as to keep everybody on the same page. Probably the best teacher I have had in the physics department. He generally follows the textbook, but also make sure to review what he said during lecture.
Shawn Jackson did an exceptional job teaching this class. I barely passed phys141, so I was terrified going into this class. I found 241 to be much more manageable, but that may come with experience taking more college courses. Regardless, Dr. Jackson clearly explains what is going on, and the exams were manageable. Good luck!
As a senior in physics & preceptor with Shawn I'll argue that he's the best in the department. Take the class.
Jackson is a caring and effective physics lecturer -- his homework was reasonable, lectures ALWAYS useful, and exams were very fair. He is very approachable and always available to help during office hours; if you have him for 241, you are very fortunate and I encourage you to actively pay attention in his lectures -- you will learn something.
He is soooo slow! We'd do 1 question in 50 minutes and we were always behind lab
Physics.. the class I was dreading the most about this semester, but found myself enjoying the most! It is purely because of Mr. Jackson's teaching ability and how efficient his lectures are. He knows what the students will have difficulties with and makes sure to present that information very clearly. Puts the instructors of my major to shame.
Lectures are extremely slow and dull. The people who did well in his course had some physics background, if you don't have this you might feel lost. Exams are a nightmare and the class averages were mostly failing. He didn't take responsibility or make adjustments when the class was obviously struggling. He's a nice guy but hard to learn from.
Very bad class. Got so sleep in the lecture because the professor spoke very very slow. The average grade for exam is about 30,70,50 and there is no curves??? Never take his class.
Professor Shawn Jackosn made me love physics (Although it was my first time to take physics in English). He's helpful if you go to his office hours. The only problem with this course is the midterms, they're difficult (class average 45, 72, 51). Final Exam was a mess!!!!! Overall, This man was born to teach physics
Jackson is a good professor that'll help you understand the meaning behind equations. But his tests are awful. The class averages were in the F range. This is a weed out class, my recommendation, don't take physics at the University of Arizona.
Homework and concepts were what would be expected for 100 level physics and you can easily earn 100% on homework. However, exam problems are far more difficult than any assignment or in-class example; averages were 45, 72, 51, 48. The course is designed for the physics inclined. This may be a weed out course but it felt more like sabotage.
For an Intro to Physics course this class was extremely difficult. Although Jackson knows his stuff and is a decent teacher, in no way does he prepare you for his exams. Our exam averages were in the 40's and the final exam was a complete nightmare. Tests are 80% of your grade so be prepared for that.
Shawn is an amazing professor! He shows you where equations come from and how to apply them. The exams are straightforward if you have attended lectures, done the homework, and done a few practice problems from the book. He is funny and makes a difficult subject easy to understand while making lectures interesting!
I didn't feel comfortable asking questions in class. He covers one problem in class and then talks for the rest of the time about tangential topics. Lectures weren't helpful because the material taught in class would regularly contradict what was covered in the textbook.
Shawn Jackson is the best that I know in terms of physics professors at UoA. If you need to take a physics class and shawn jackson is the option, take him hands down. Yeah, he is challenging on exams but if you do the homework and study material its very fair. However, do make sure you pace yourself on the exams or you won't finish!
Lectures were dull and often not helpful. What is taught in class is not taught in lab or discussion sections. What I found the most difficult about this class was Shawn's inability to clearly convey the material covered in class on the tests. Every test had multiple mathematical errors, that would cause students to have to rework entire problems.
Fine Lecturer, knows how to effectively communicate and explain things. He can teach you the logic behind why this or that happens whether it be a force or acceleration, etc. Nice guy and willing to help in office hours. If you do the homework and study in class examples and understand them, you will do fine. Stay on top of it.
Doesnt give helpful feedback on tests or during office hours. Seems like he means well, but he's quite disorganized and is lacking in effectively demonstrating or showing where formulas come from. This often leads to many students' frustration with his teaching style. I found it quite difficult to take his exams as spelling errors were abound.
Beware the exams. It looks like most people don't finish them and averages so far are low. They're harder than the homework and closer to tutorials in terms of the level of understanding you need. On the plus side, he tries to be helpful and does curve at the end of the semester. Also homework and tutorials boost your grade slightly if you do them.
This is such a good class, to study for the exam do the in-class problems as preparation. All of the questions are from the in-class problems and any problems in the discussion that are not theoretical.
Extremely unapproachable, says exams are just like homework but exam questions are two steps above homework in complexity. Exams are not fair at all
As a physics major, I've had classes with many professors in the department. Most of them are average, but he makes the lectures truly enjoyable by walking through the math and properly explaining derivations. In class demos were also insightful. Engineer and Chem majors purposefully signed up for the "physics majors" class because he was teaching.
I have taken Phys 102, Phys 241, Phys 331, Phys 332, and Phys 472 with professor Jackson, as well as being a TA in his Phys 102 class. He is undoubtedly the best professor I have ever had. If you show genuine intention, a passion for physics, and sincerely put forth effort to understand the world, you will be rewarded tenfold.
I was so scared to take physics at a university instead of community college, but Professor Jackson made me LOVE physics. I was never a math whiz, but as long as you don't skip lectures, he makes it as simple as possible. Exams are tough and not multiple choice, but if you went to class and did homework, they're not too bad.
Hardest class I've taken but Jackson is a god of a professor. He made it impossible to dislike him. Some questions on exams are HW and in-class examples with twist. Go to office hours for HW help and in-class examples that weren't finished. Beware! Final was much harder than all 4 exams.
I didn't enjoy taking the course. Shawn didn't make it anymore enjoyable, either. I was nervous to ask questions because I observed that Shawn often lost his temper if a student didn't grasp the material the first time. He held office hours, but due to what I observed in class, I sought help learning the material elsewhere.
I ADORED Professor Jackson. I was terrified as I had never taken a single physics course. I sincerely thought on the first day that I was going to do poorly in his class. His lecture time is dedicated to explaining how to solve problems and he is just overall very fun. I found myself with an A in his course but not without dedication.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had at U of A. Posts online lecture videos that are super long and blurry. Exams are very difficult and he is very unapproachable and not accommodating. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Jackson is okay. Gets mad easily whenever people ask questions about things hes already mentioned in the syllabus; hed probably spend less time and save himself some anger if he would just answer the question. Jackson, if youre seeing this, please for the love of God get a microphone to record lectures (very hard to hear him in lectures)
I was already scared to take physics and this class did not help my anxiety. The recorded lectures are half the time blurry and out of focus and always difficult to hear. Exams are a killer in difficulty but I learned at least you get some credit for trying... Lecture content and labs are difficult to relate.
Best physics prof I've ever had. I didn't do well in physics while in high school, but got an A by watching the recorded lectures, doing the assigned homework problems, and reading the textbook. Exams are 100% fair and are at the same level of difficulty as the homework.
For this class, you tend to depend more on the textbook than his lectures. If you wish to succeed, I recommend doing most of the book and hw problems (at least doing all of the easy and medium ones) over and over again. He gets annoyed when students ask him questions so I recommend getting help elsewhere... (try an SI leader, videos, private tutor)
I like this professor because he offered a lot of practice problems as well as homework. I found that the exam questions were similar to the homework and examples reviewed in class. My biggest tip would be to take notes and complete homework at least a week before the exam so you have that week to review, go to office hours, SI leaders, etc.
Lectures are unclear and extremely unhelpful. Good luck if you want to ask a question or get something clarified, because Jackson will just get angry with you (why become a teacher??). Tests are ridiculously hard. You're basically expected to teach yourself second semester physics by reading the textbook. Discussions are SO WORTHLESS.
For Phys103 (online), Prof. Jackson did a great job doing example problems that translated well to the tests. The zoom lectures are recorded and viewable after the live online session, so you really only need to attend the live online proctored exam. Overall solid class and well meaning, responsive teacher.
You can tell he's passionate about physics, which makes lectures much more fun. Physics itself is a little dry but he's a great professor.
Shawn Jackson is a very clear lecturer, he is good at simplifying the material. Because of this, I very rarely felt overwhelmed in the class. I would recommend taking this class with Jackson, especially considering the difficulty of the material.
Amazing Professor, obviously the course is Physics so it is a little hard but he simplifies it so much that it extremely easy to understand, a true gem for the Physics Department, I recommend him to anyone taking Physics!
Great professor. Lectures are very slow and thorough so that everyone is on the same page. The concept can be somewhat challenging if you aren't interested in it, but he tries his best to simplify it as much as possible. Exams are purely based on in-class examples and homework problems, hint hint. Good luck on lab and discussion..
Professor Jackson was awesome. This will probably be the easiest and best professor you can get for any Physics class. He makes the tests fairly easy and it's easy to get a 100 on all the homework sections.
It's phys, so it WILL be hard. Jackson makes it bearable. Attend lecture and do homework, as exam problems are pulled from both. He explains things clearly during lecture and is willing to go over things again and answer questions, although he can seem a bit passive aggressive at times. Exams are very fair, 4 questions usually.
Physics is hard. Professor Jackson makes it a little bit more bearable. He's a funny guy, and pulls exam questions from the homeworks and in-class problems. He doesn't really explain concepts in class, so make sure you do the readings before going to class. It's a shame he's retiring after this semester...
He is the best professor ever, Hey Jackson, if you have ever watched this page, I hope you have a nice retirement life!
Homework was key to understanding material. Will miss him lots.
best physics teacher at UA. exams are literally just homework or lecture problems with different numbers
