HORRIBLE teacher. Class is boring as hell. She cant grade worth a damn. WORTHLESS class. Did I mention she is a HORRIBLE teacher?

dropped it - thats how scared i was. 8 of one type of paper and 3 of another 3-4 page paper. 11 papers for one class, thats a little out of control if u ask me!

The only good thing about her is that it's easy to get an A. If you can sit in class and not rip out your hair listning to her brag about how amazing she is or talk about extremely liberal and biased views, then you will be ok.

This is a terrible teacher! Do not take her! She is extremely boring and not an understanding person at all! The class is ridiculous and I learned nothing from her! I would never take her again!

She doesnt teach the class anything, just gives a huge amount of readings and expects you to remember terms from them, which you never use, so you learn the terms and dont do anyting with the. Overall not such a nice person as well. SHe will let you rewrite anything though.

She loves to point out that she has a PhD. She loves to belittle students. And she loves to hear herself talk. She thinks she is the only one that knows anything. Plus her class was pointless.

Professor McEntee is the worst instructor known to man, if you have any questions make sure you have her hand-outs memorized. Her assignments are pointless and I didn't learn a thing. I strongly recommend you switch your professor. Anyone but her.

she's a jerk. she's rude and doesnt listen. she's condesending and stands up front ranting away. biggest know it all ever and i would transfer before i ever had to take another class with her.

Horrible Teacher, Learned nothing from her and she DEFINTELY played favorites. She Also does not teach well at all, she basically expects you to learn everything on your own. HORRIBLE!

One word: sluch socks. Spends 90% of time taking a poll on what you think the quiz should be on and then you leave not really knowing what the quiz is on. She is mean, dull and a hard grader. She doesnt prepare you at all for tests or papers. Wastes almost all of class time. Lousy assignments. One of the worst here at SU. AVOID

This woman is a real nazi with her head up her ass. She tries to act like a total **** and pass that off as interest in the topic, but she didn't fool me. She has an imaginary boyfriend whom she refrences in every lecture. I'm convinced he's just a bale of hay with a cowboy hat. She doesn't believe in the existence of an original thought; you must trace and cite everything you write. Her rigorous attribution system prevents actual learning and formative thought. She is a miserable person don't take her.

Never if I knew this what would happen, would I have signed up for this class. It's just, no.

I have 3 words for you...HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Class is boring, could've been interesting. You have a quiz every Monday, and then you review quiz answers, and then a group presents. Wednesday you read and discuss an article. That's it, nothing else happens. BORING. She's also very unclear.

quite possibly the worst teacher at SU. The whole semester she lectured once. She structures the class around group presentations so that she can sit there and get paid to ridicule you. She expects you to teach yourself everything and embarasses you if you interpreted it wrong. Extremely unclear w directions but loves 2 hear herself talk. STAY AWAY

She is not a good teacher. All you do is "sharing" aka students present articles about the text and she argues everything they say without reason. The quizzes required you to recall extremely obscure facts. She is not a nice lady.

this professor didnt even bother to introduce herself on the first day of class. she often brought her smelly dog with her to class & it actually started farting while i was doing a presentation. i strongly recommend that you do not take this class with her, she is more focused on herself than helping students. also she liked to interupt people

This woman is absolutely CRAZY. I've never had to complain about a teacher, I've always been able to deal but I just want to warn anyone taking her in the future that she is completely USELESS. She won't answer questions and is so rude. I was interested in sociology before this class, but after taking her, I will always consider sociology HELL.

TERRIBLE!!! very hard, gives you quizes every week online that open thursday and close sat at midnight when everyone wants to go out. grades hard, if i didn't need this class I would have dropped it the first day. I hate her

I am so confused in her class, i wish i never signed up for her class, i am graduating in December and will four credits short because she is such an asz. she explains nothing, all she says is check online, I fail everything, and spend more time with this class then any other in my life, she is the worst please avoid her i wish i did

This class was a pathetic waste of time. You would think someone with a degree would have a brain but she does not. Her grading system is entirely pathetic and she will not stand by it. If you disagree with any of her political views be prepared for a lowering of grades.

Its the first week and this teacher to me comes off as rude, know it all, and hard to follow. Her online work is highly confusing and everyone in the class is already lost. If i could i would drop this class immediately but i cant. My advice is to avoid this teacher at all costs, i can tell already im in for a semester of hell.

She does not explain anything so it leads to spending MORE time going over it later and wasting time in class. She is self-righteous and narcissistic, and treats even hard working students (nursing honor student here) as if they are idiots. Finally, due to her "perfect attendance" policy I had to show up to class with a fever. Don't do it.

Worst teacher I'be had by far here at Salisbury. If you take her be prepared to teach yourself because she does nothing. Attendance is mandatory, and every class is either group presentation or aritcle review. Not helpful at all. Avoid taking her if you can!

I thought I would like taking sociology but she killed that. During discussion, theres no point in disagreeing with her because she will always think you are wrong. I asked her to clarify her criteria on writing papers and she told me to ask my classmates. I said they arent the ones grading my paper...you are!!! TERRIBLE TEACHER!!!!!!!!!

Seriously do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HER. Taking her class is pointless, she refuses to actually teach anything and takes points off of your grade for not knowing something....something is unwilling to teach..... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Don't do it. It is a very hard class that takes alot of time and it feels impossible. The format of the class is hard and she doesn't teach. The readings are tough. Just a really hard really class that is not needed.

DON'T TAKE HER!!! I am in an easy 1 credit class with her. 5/12 people have dropped this class so far. It is unorganized. She belittles you, and asks way too much of you. This was suppose to be an easy A and it is simply a nightmare.

Save yourself. Do not take her. She's CRAZY. You have to do homework ALL weekend and she makes fun of people when they don't understand. She NEVER directly answers your questions. For her papers, she will take off 20% for grammatical errors ALONE.

She is literally one of the worst teachers I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER. She teaches you absolutely nothing and makes pretty rude comments if you ask questions. Her setup makes no sense and going to class is less productive than staying in bed. I wish Salisbury would read these reviews because this woman has no business teaching.

Started off the year with around 25 students and midway through the semester, we are down to about 12. It seems like every week someone new drops her class because of just how terrible of a teacher she is. She is extremely cocky, rude, and moody. This woman has no business teaching so PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER.

HORRIBLE! There was so much online work due and I had no idea it was a hybrid class. She didn't explain what was needed either. Not good at explaining and calls you out when you answer something wrong. AVOID.

DO NOT TAKE!!! she is a horrible teacher. for example this is the only class i got penalized for doing hw early. Also i took a quiz online left to go to work and come back to finish it(as she claims you can do). i couldnt get back into the quiz and i waited for 5hrs for her to respond but she did not n thus i failed n she said oh well

Illegible handwriting. Enjoys confusing the class. Instructions often look like ransom notes. Condescending. Obsessed with horses. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

She is very hard to understand. She will tell you what she wants, but then she will change her mind twenty minutes later. Do not take the 8 am class. She is not very helpfulul.

She says her teaching is useful, but I honestly don't feel like I learned a thing. Everything is group work and online. She doesn't explain anything and doesn't answer questions you ask her. She assigns all her work over the weekend and requires you to post in an online forum. She's really particular about the work but its impossible. No textbook

RUN RUN RUN!! Very confusing, never clear with directions and expectations. Assigns tons of work over the weekend. Big projects can be completed but then not accepted because formatting is not how she likes. Obsessed with talking about her horse. Rude. DO NOT TAKE!

Sociology is my major and I've taken different forms before her class. She is not fit to be an educator and probably needs to go back to school. She will shove her political and global views down your throat while insulting you in front of the whole class for having an opinion. Salisbury needs to get rid of her because she is ruining their rep.

Don't take this teacher if you want to learn anything about sociology. You earn your grade thru doing busy work she assigns on the weekend and slaps a few glossary terms to them to make them seem relavent. She's opinionated, and will embarrass and belittle you, this class should be renamed McEntees opinion 101, didn't learn about sociology at all

Absolutely awful teacher. I would not ever consider taking her class again. She doesn't explain anything, I am nine weeks into the course and haven't learned one ounce of sociology yet. The only thing I have heard her talk about is her horse. Nothing is ever explained and her exercises never make sense or have anything to do with sociology.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Completely awful. Do yourself a HUGE favor and stay as far away from her class as possible. She gives so much busy work and grades extremely hard. Whatever you do DO NOT ask her a question, she will accuse you of never reading the millions of papers she hands out a week and not even answer.

She won't answer your questions. The whole class is basically about her sharing her opinion. She gets incredibly defensive even though she asks for feedback. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. You've been warned. Professor McEntee is an unfit instructor. She will embarrass you in front of the class of you ask a question.

DO NOT TAKE HER, the classes are pointless, she doesnt teach anything and makes the class give opinions on topics instead of giving us facts or any notes whatsoever. Most of the work is out of class and little to no learning is done during class time.

STAY AWAY!! DO NOT EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF TAKING HER CLASS! She will not help at all and will flip out if you have a question or don't understand her. Over half the class withdrew before midsemester and even more after that. Every assignment will need to be resubmitted because she will fail everything. You will not get the grade you work for.

She is very vague in giving directions and causes more confusing and frustration when asking her to clarify what she's trying to say

This is the worst class I've ever taken. It was extremely difficult and I learned nothing. I had a genuine interest in this subject but because of her I want nothing to do with it now. I could go into so much detail as to why it's awful but I don't have enough characters. just know that if you take this class you will probably regret it.

She is such a terrible professor. If you ask for help she will tell you to ask another student in the class, or to post your question to the board and she'll answer it later on, but with another question, making you more confused. She is a very tough grader on things she does not even teach. There is no textbook, which makes the weekly work hard.

She assigns quizzes without teaching the topic and expects you to spend at least an hour on each one. There are usually three due before each quiz. She doesn't give much detail or instruction on her assignments or the requirements for them.

This teacher is the worst in terms of clarity. A lot of the work that we did was online and when we had questions she had a hard time answering them directly. I couldn't really tell you what we learned other than how to BS my way through out pointless assignments.

If you want to take a sociology class that is going to feel so much more difficult than a real sociology class should then I guess this is the class for you. The work you're given is almost so much that sociology might be the only one you should be taking. She's a nice lady and all, but her teaching mechanisms and the assigned projects felt disorganized, rushed, and confusing.

she makes you work for the A, on a point system. it's difficult doing her work because she does not teach in class, just lectures about her horses and her life. easy A if you work for it, but there's a lot of work to be done.

You honestly could not pay me enough to take a class with her again. She doesn't lecture. She's an extremely hard grader but doesn't clarify what exactly she wants you to do & she wants to "make things easier" on herself so she tries to force you into group work so she would have less to grade. Friends told me to drop her class but I didn't listen.

She does not guide you when doing projects. She tells you to do one thing then takes off points for something totally different. All you do is read articles in class and her online quizzes do nothing for you and is almost impossible to get 100% percent on.

Lotsof work involved, much of what seemed like busy work. It was a point based class so once you reached a certain number of points you could stop doing the work which was nice for the last two weeks or so but it was difficult to get those points. All of the coursework is done through Canvas andhalf of the time you dont know what youre supposedtodo

She's very specific on directions given and will take points off if you don't do something exactly but the directions given are very unclear. If you ask too many questions about the directions she gets frustrated. Lots of busy work but based on a point system so your grade can only go up. Lecture is very boring but you get points to go and prepared

She no help when you asked a question, only makes it more confusing. She make simple tasked all most impossible to due. For the points you get some of her stuff is not worth doing

I really do not like this professor. She expects her class to be top priority, when she does not even matter for your major. You are basically learning material on your own for quizzes, "I do not lecture" were her own words. She is the reason I do not like sociology.

She is very unclear in what she wants you to do but expects all your work to be done in the way she wants it without telling you. Just don't do this to yourself. 0/10 experience would not EVER do again.

I took this class several years ago. It saddens me she still "teaches" the exact same way. No directions on how to meet any requirements, no expectations besides teach each other as students. Hardest professor/ instructor I've had including attending different schools years later. Only reason I passed from using a lot of terms in exams.

Professor McEntee is a decent and caring person, but a horrible teacher. There are projects every 2 weeks, and her instructions are extremely unclear. There are no in class quizzes, but about 30 online quizzes that you can retake, but she doesn't teach the info, you have to teach yourself. She doesn't use a textbook, reading come from a blog.

All self-taught. Encourages you to ask questions and then gets mad about the questions and won't answer them. Expects you to devote ALL time to HER class. She is very strict with material and expects you to write like a sociologist within the first 2 weeks. Spare yourself the time. Not wort it

350 Words is not enough to describe the suffering that I endured this past semester in Shawn McEntee's sociology 101 class. I had to teach myself all of the material on my own. The instructions to all of her assignments are extremely unclear, she assigns a colossal amount of work, and provides little to no assistance when you ask her for help.

If this is your professor for any class, drop it now. You will be glad you did. Honestly. I read a review similar to mine and I thought Ive never had an issue with a teacher before so why not try? Boy was I wrong. I struggled as well as the whole class and through that her only assurance was that it only gets harder as the semester goes.

If I could give negative stars I would. She is by far the worst prof I had this semester. Her syllabus is like a witch riddle and the same goes for her assignments. shes incredibly unclear about instructions and when you ask her to clarify she takes it very personally and diverts the lecture typically scolding her class for being irresponsible

Please dont take her. Expects you to be a sociologist in week 1 of class. Very tough grader and does not teach. In class if you dont know the answer she gets mad and if you ask a question about instructions shell just answer with another question or tell you to read them again. Wants to see her student's fail, expects you to be a sociologists from the first day on, rubrics for every assignment make absolutely no sense, when asked a question she gives no clear explanation, class is self-taught. Can be extremely rude to students through email or even in person. What ever you do, do not take this class with her.

This was the worst class I have ever taken. Even if you read all the instructions and do everything correctly, somehow she will still say you're wrong. She's not clear at. all. Expect you to know every term by week two. The unit tests are papers and the average was 25/40. The discussions are difficult because she never gives 100%.

This class is just terrible. All the assignments are not in the assignments tab and not available on the calendar. The only thing seen on MyClasses calendar is the 6-8 quizzes due every Sunday. It is was too much and I have taught everything to myself. do not take this class. very unhelpful and not worth the stress.

Stay away from this professor is possible she will make your semester awful, her grading is very inconsistent and doesn't even explain her criteria in the rubrics. It's simply a 101 class for pre reqs and she expects everyone to be a professional sociologist like her. You will never be 100%, something will be wrong in some way shape or form.

She does not give clear directions EVER. Good luck if you're put into her 210 class without ever taking a soc class in your life. She is not helpful and you'll go through the entire course without learning anything and being confused the entire way. Somehow I squeaked out a B but most of the class had a low C or D.

Her instructions make no sense and her grading is awful and inconsistent. She shames the class for not being interested in her super boring subject and gets mad at you for asking questions or not participating. She consistently called my class brain dead because no one would talk to her. She treats class like it's our major when it's a 101 class.

Most inconsistent and nit-picky professor I have ever had. Her expectations are changing constantly and, despite encouraging us to ask questions, she never answers them and tells us we should know them. Don't expect to ever do anything right, because she will always find something wrong with everything you do. Avoid this professor at all costs!

For an 100-level class, she grades as if it is a 300-level course. I do not recommend ANYONE to take this class and I am not exaggerating. She expects you to already be a sociologist so if you aren't, you will not do very well in this course. Maybe the struggle is tolerable if sociology is your major but even then, you will not get a 'yes' from me.

She simply expects too much from 101 students. Most prompts are overly complicated and she just makes all of the assignments miserable. Shawn also likes to not listen to her own instructions and change what she wants from you randomly.

Professor McEntee's SOCI 101 class is atrocious. Every 2 days of the week was the longest time ever. No clear instructions at all. She expects 14-15 hrs a week on homework, for a 101 CLASS?!!!! PLEASE SAVE UR TIME AND ENERGY DON'T TAKE HER CLASS OR YOU WILL BE MENTALLY STRESSED. IVE LEARNED NOTHING. 70 POINT ASSIGNMENTS EVERY WEEKEND. PLZ DON'T

Everything everyone is saying about professor McEntee is spot on. DO NOT take classes with her. Especially, if the class does not pertain to your major.

VERY heavy work load for a 101 course. Assignment expectations were never clear and points were deducted from assignments if unclear expectations were not met. If this course does not pertain to your major do not take it.

Truly the worst professor I ever had. There would be so many times when our entire class wouldn't understand the material or the work she was giving us. Whenever we would ask questions about it, she'd get upset and blame our generation for our "lack of understanding." Seriously, avoid her at all costs! Her class is a waste of time and energy!

Does not lecture in class, she relies on you to read the textbook and take notes & learn from it. Grades very difficult for a 101 class. For assignments, almost every class she decides to change the requirements of the assignment/what she's asking from you/your group. Class is passable but very frustrating.

She will, without fail, grade you based off of a rubric that exists only in her head that is much larger than the one she will provide. Her handwriting is illegible and there are 3-6 quizzes weekly on things she doesn't discuss. We spent two months in groups that were meaningless in the end. You have to redo every assignment 3 times to receive a B.

Run in the opposite direction of this "Professor" Shes unprofessional and speaks to her students horribly. If you're into a snarky, rude professor this one is for you. She's about as clear as mud on her assignments. I can't believe they keep her around. Sociology Professors must be hard to come by. Switch out of this class STAT, you'll thank me.

BEWARE !!!! of this professor, she only focused on readings that she assignment that were a million pages long. She is very critically of grading, be expected not to gain all your points on assignment. She complains more about students not putting in high quality work when she does not explain anything everything is vague.

I don't know how she is the head of the Sociology department at Salisbury. She's hands down the worst professor Ive ever had. If you ask her a question she's either gonna work her way around it or tell you to figure it out on your own. Her directions for assignments don't make any sense. She contradicts herself often. Don't take a class with her.

To anyone reading this, don't take this class. I warned you. This professor is pretty rude to her students, unclear instructions when it comes to coursework, and assignments are just all over the place. Spare yourself the headache and don't take this class.

Instructions are always SUPER unclear. A lot of your grade is determined by discussion posts, but it is nearly impossible to get a 100% on them no matter how good you think you do. The end of the year project is a mess. Lot of busy work outside of class.

The entire class is on the online textbook. There are no lectures, just discussions in class that don't help you because she reviews previous chapters instead of upcoming ones that would prepare you for the quizzes. Her class is useless to go to, and she knows, that's why she makes attendance mandatory and you lose points for leaving the class.

Extremely unclear in all directions. Always tells you to "read the homepage, it has everything you need to know" when all it has is nuanced requirements, and she will make you feel stupid for not understanding them. Very tough grader for unit exam papers, considering how bad of a teacher she is and how little she does to actually help you.

She is impossible to please, she will give you an entire paper with unclear instructions and will not grade you based off of those same instructions and rubric provided, instead she'll grade you based on whatever she made up in her head. Lots and lots of homework, not understanding or caring for her students. Rude and harsh.

She is terrible!! She is so mean and not helpful. Her work is not necessarily hard, but she expects you to follow the directions that are never clear. When she talks about directions she has like 3 essays of directions that are always so confusing. Never take her or try and avoid at all costs.

Ive had bad teachers along the way but she is something different. Her directions were so unclear. It was impossible to get a good grade on anything. She CAN KINDA be caring with family stuff BUT even if you miss with an excuse ( even a real docs note) your grade comes down each time. Do not take this class. Trust.

Never gives clear instructions and always asks “what's so hard to understand?” When whats she's asking is nowhere in the rubrics or instructions. Marks you late if you go to the bathroom or go fill up your water bottle. Too hard for a 101, avoid her!

She won't teach you anything, it's all in the textbook. She is also one of the worst speakers I've ever heard in my life, she probably says Uhhhhhh twice a sentence.

I'm disappointed that she still teaches here and hasn't bothered to change her methods. She is very unclear in her instructions, her clarifications make everything more confusing. It's mainly online work and you have random vocab word tests but she doesn't teach you the words. Avoid her at all costs.

She is incapable of giving clear instructions. MyClasses is set up so it's impossible to find anything. Then she acts surprised when none of us understand what we are doing. When we ask questions she answers by giving another question. This class burnt me tf out and it impacted my ability to perform in other classes. Avoid like the plague

Professor Mcentee is awful a professor and she is very rude and unprofessional. She grades heavily and will dock points off for everything that you type that she doesn't agree with. If she thinks your assignment isn't what she would write, it's wrong. If you do a research project and it isn't as specific as she wants it, it's wrong.

I took her class last semester and I physically would warn student I'm friends with this semester to not take her. I watched her get into a fight with a student verbally and in her space, touching her stuff. The worst teacher. Why is this teacher still teaching? She needs to be fired.

Thought this class would be a chill elective that i didn't have to worry about. Shes argued with kids in my class over the dumbest things and makes course material difficult to understand. Her grading policy is extremely strict and has given me 0s on multiple assignments that i completed without explaining why. DO NOT take this professors classes.

Easily the worst professor I have ever encountered. Extremely condescending and would often get in arguments with students just to be nasty. Claims that everything is super easy as long as you follow the instructions for the assignment- except the instructions are PAGES long and make zero sense with grammatical errors everywhere. Truly terrible.

Do not think that anything that you ever say in this class is right because you will be wrong in one way or another. Constantly complains about students reading directions when they are pages long of complete word salad. Grades like you personally attacked her when you're wrong and is INCREDIBLY rude. Avoid this class like the plague.

do NOT take her if you care about your sanity. she verbally attacks students who don't agree with her and is weirdly obsessed with her horse. for some reason when no one asks her for help, she stands at the front of the class saying she feels useless. her instructions for assignments are just essays of word salad (her specialty).

Listen, im not a rude person but this professor brings out the WORST in people. She will DRAIN you trying to make your work up to her standard (which by the way are impossible to meet - nothing is EVER good enough for her). I knew we were going to have an issue when she said we weren't allowed to use the bathroom. Good luck taking this course.

Just horrible. I would not prefer no one to take this class unless you have to. I only had her for a week and the energy I received was very negative. All she does is talk about her horse and get very passive aggressive with you if you don't do work up to her standards.

Her wording on assignments is so confusing for no reason, will make you redo even if you completed how she wanted. Takes me 10 tries to do 1 little annotation. Talks tons of nonsense. Makes you volunteer 30 hours when it is not required for the class.

Just terrible. If you have to take this class, I recommend doing a prayer every morning.

HORRIBLE. not one assignment was clear, expectations and criteria changed by the day, literally. will tell you what to write and then say its wrong later. Expects you to dedicate so much time and in some situations your own money for this class. Genuinely just arrogant and inconsiderate.
