He's a great teacher that brings a lot of humor to the subject and makes it fun!!

Hard class but very very interesting! You learn a lot about people, including yourself and others that are close to you. He has a bit of sense of humor which always makes it a little more fun!

Funny guy, his class was definitely fun to go to. Not a super-hard teacher but his tests are a bit of a pain in the arse. You'll learn a lot though and it's definitely worth it.

He's funny and uses good applicable infortmation. The information definitely sticks in your head. Tests are on the harder side, but if you study a decent amount, you'll do well.

He's a great teacher. Very understanding, works around students needs. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities -- lots of notes and his tests are sort of hard (Almost all of them have essay questions).

One of the nest classes I've been in. Very entertaining, never dull.. He often relates what we learn about in the text to real world applications, such as how to handle different types of problems, because if we went about it exactly the way the text says... it just wouldn't work :P

He was an okay teacher. He's really funny. Doesn't expect too much from his students, easy grader. I liked him.

This guy is really funny and his class is awesome. Takes a very realistic approach; he's very good about telling you how things really work rather than how theorists say they should work.

I love this Professor. His teaching methods are off the wall. There never was a day I wasn't laughing, and at the same time learning. I want to take as many classes with him as I can. He is truely one of my best Professors yet!

This teacher is interesting and always makes lectures fun to listen to. He tries to get you to think...and he does.

He was an awesome professor, he actually made Psychology fun!!!! Everyday he made the whole class laugh their heads off. I can honestly say that I loved going into class everyday. To this day, I have to say that by far he is my favorite teacher except for Linda Conniff. He is a great professor.....he teaches yet he makes it fun and interesting, in order to keep the students interest.

Mikulay is the best teacher in this school. He is funny and gives extreme examples to remember the material. I recomend anyone to take this professor.

Interesting, knows the subject, uses good examples to illustrate topics. Homework is a great aid in preparing for tests.

Probably my favorite teacher ever. His notes were really easy to understand. He used powerpoint. Had awesome examples and stories. I loved his teaching styles. Defnitely a must take professor. Just make sure you have internet because all of his assignments are online and you need to email them to him. He does not tell you when things are due

He is one of the best professors I've had at ECC. He uses real life situations to help you understand the material better, and he also uses jokes to lighten up the classroom environment. He's very funny, and a great teacher! His homework is really easy, his test are a little challenging, but still pretty easy. He's a great teacher, I recommend him!

If you didnt get an A in his class, you didnt even try. His lectures are interesting and makes you not want to miss class. He's pretty funny. Homework is simple but not short. If you want an A, be thorough with everything. If you do the reading and study the notes there should be no problem in getting an A. Take his course, you'll learn a lot

I loved this guy, his class was the only one I looked foward to. Yes, he is very funny, but he does care about his students, you have to go up to him though. He has great examples, great slides (which is rare)easy homework, easy papers. Overall, I love this guy. Wish I could take him again, but he teaches higher classes than I can take.

Mikulay is awesome, his lectures are funny and interesting. Be sure to read the book and go over his learning objectives. Additionally, there are a couple homework assignments... be sure you read the syllabus because he will not remind you every day like some teachers. If you need help,he will totally help you. Overall, good teacher, but study!!

Good teacher. A little bit tricky with his tests, but he lets you justify your answer and if you can, he would usually give you the point for it. Overall, he's a pretty good teacher even though sometimes the class gets boring.

Very good Psy 100 teacher. I would recommend him. This definitely wasn't a class you could be bored in. I especially liked that his tests were very fair, and he told us exaclty what we would have to complete at the beginning of the semester and stuck to it.

Mikulay is not very concerned with your success but then again this is COLLEGE not HIGHSCHOOL. He doesn't have to be worried about whether or not you pass because it is YOUR job. Great, great, great Psych teacher, fun, very intersting class, learn a lot of "fun facts". Would def recommend him and his quirkiness. Test aren't too hard either!!

Great teacher, fair in grading, tests are pretty simple if you study the outline material. He allows you to argue your answers. Makes the class def. more intresting. You can tell he loves teaching! I enjoyed the class alot.

Excellent Professor. I absoutley loved his class. I took it as a virtual class. I was a bit nervous about that at first, but it was just like being in the classroom in the comfort of your own home He is extremely entertaining. I learned alot. I also took his intro to pysch virtual class. I highly recommend it. Hes a great proffesor and is always willing to help. His class are never boring. He will teach you some stuff that you wont beleive. Take his virtual course, you wont regret it.

very nice teacher although his personality takes a little getting used to. Tests were kinda hard. I never knew what I was gonna get when i finished one. His lectures are easy to follow and he uses alot of real life applications. He was always willing to help me with any questions, he also gives you a chance to argue your answers for points on tests

This class is amazing! Mikulay doesn't just teach the subject matter, he makes it interesting and shows real world connections. I would highly recommend this professor!

SMikulay is great! He's really interesting and he tells funny stories that help you remember the content. Low emphasis on the textbook, which is always nice.

SMikulay is great. He's the reason I took this course this semester (previously taking PSY 101 with him). His class reminds me of an episode of Family Guy; very humorous interjections to remember the content. Expects you to read the text and understand the material. Overall: Excellent.

You will not get bored in Mikulay's class. If you go to class and do the work the tests are not that hard. Mikulay is hilarious and extremely intelligent. One of the best teachers I have had. He treats you like an adult and expects you to act like one. He is an ACTUAL college professor. BAMF.

He is a great teacher, as long as you go to class you will do just fine in the class. And he is pretty funny and entertaining to be in class with, and helpful with whatever you need, so there would really be no reason you would want to go to class. I would highly reccomend him to anyone to take his classes.

I took Shawn for Psy 101 in summer. Attendance is for your own benefit. If you miss a day, you're only screwing yourself over. Every area he taught about, he made sure to relate it to things we would know ie: celebrities so we understand. Syllabus- clear. Class Study Guide- Very Clear. Test- mildly hard. Take many notes & read the book (useful!)

VERY, VERY informative. I never had a class I asked so many questions. Great experience. The test questions could get a little tricky at times (the final was just a very left-field experience - Summer 2010 final). I would take this again because there is so much interesting information to learn especially about life (Birth to Death). C in the end.

He's a really funny and nice guy as long as you're not obnoxious in class. His notes aren't hard at all as long as you're not dumb and listen; he repeats what you should be writing down. Tests are straight from notes and book. Overall I like the class.

I feel grateful to of had his class.He made the material what I feel as relative as possible and provided an excellent layout for note taking.The notes are very relevant to the tests.If you listen and pay attention you'll gain a wealth of knowledge and at least pass with an average grade. However he's probably grading my punctuation of this review.

I learned A LOT. It was a tough class and I did work hard. He gives you learning objectives for each chapter and if you understand the concepts you should be fine on the tests. I always managed a B on his exams, but ended with an A in the class. He gives extra credit and is always there to help answer any questions.

Awesome professor! I actually looked forward to his class...never laughed so much at 8am before! He made psych very relateable to the real world. His tests aren't THAT hard...study and you'll be fine.

Had him and Hutman for Experimental psyh. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS CLASSIF YOU ARE A PSYCH MAJOR. Very cool, get to do experiments. He knows what hes talking about and helps a lot when it comes to running your data and getting results as well as interpreting the results.

Dr. Mikulay is definitely one of the best teachers at ECC.Social psych turned out to be the most beneficial class I've taken yet. He is ridiculously knowledgeable on the topic and has a great teaching style. Though he isn't the easiest grader, he wants to help his students and educate them, which he does.Great class, excellent teacher.

Professor Mikulay is a very good instructor, you earn the grade achieved in his class by way of what you yourself put into it. He does not give his grades to those whom do not want to work for them. Do not be intimidated by him he is really a wonderful instructor who tries to maintain your interest in the material while promoting class involvement

There are no surprises on tests, everything is from your notes. There's only 4 easy homework assigments and they're straight from your notes too. He's really funny and makes going to class actually interesting. Really knows his information and puts it in a way you can understand too

funniest teacher i've had, definitely keeps your attention. he never looks you in the eye and constantly paces (a little odd, but hey, he's a psychology teacher). not an easy class, but if you stay on top of studying you'll be fine

I took PSY 100 & 118 with Mikulay. & I am enrolling into 115. He is the BEST teacher I have yet to have at ECC. He's a hard grader and his tests are very difficult. But you will most definitely learn something from his classes. This is not a class to take if you want an easy-A. He is very knowledgable. I would recommend everyone takes his classes.

A really entertaining teacher. His exams are tough, but the study guide is exactly what you need to know for the test. Make sure you are there for every class because some of his lectures include answers to the study guide that are not in the text book and vice versa. If you study and pay attention you'll do fine.

His sense of humor may offend some people, but nevertheless, he is an excellent teacher. He understands a fundamental principle that few professors really do: engage your students. I fully recommend him to anyone.

Even if you work 5 days a week, and I work more than that, you can easily earn an A. He offers extra credit and is always available for extra assistance.Before his tests he has review session that are very helpful. By far, he is my favorite professor.

The notes he gives you in class aren't really sufficient (well, for me, at least). He does allow you to do extra credit, which boosts your test score by a decent amount. BEST teacher I have ever had. He is super funny (sometimes laughing the entire class period) and all of his hilarious stories and examples help you to remember the material. Very willing to help. Does not rely on power points, strictly lecturing but he is amazing and super educated. HIGHLY recommend .

Never a dull moment in Shawn's class. No use for the book, he gives you all the information you need. He's detail oriented, and has high expectations. He is always willing to help when asked. He will not hold your hand and walk you through the course..this is college..time for students to step up. I highly recommend this instructor!

Dr. Mikulay is a really passionate teacher who makes you look forward to coming to class. However, if students don't read each chapter, they will not reacieve a decent grade. In addition, Dr. Mikulay offers plenty of extra credit, and he is absolutely hilarious.

Hey was a tough teacher but i learned so much! He has funny stories that makes it easy to grasp the concept of what he is talking about. He doesn't care for excuses and if u attend or not. Great teacher would take again!

He's a great teacher. Granted the course is difficult and you do have to study, but its extremely interesting and you actually enjoy attending class. You should read the book as some of the exam questions aren't covered in class and are about studies included in the chapters. If not you'll have to guess. Still, I would take him again

By far the most hilarious teacher I've ever had. I have never been so entertained in a class period in my entire school career. I was laughing hysterically the entire course and refused to skip a lecture. I highly recommend him to anyone, it was amusing to see how many people got offended by his dry sense of humor, his sarcasm is fantastic.

The absolute best professor I have taken at ECC He gives only 4 homeworks along with 4 exams & 2 papers he assigns l He offers extra credit that can boost your grade if all are done with full credit. The subject itself is hard & you will need study, but the way he teaches you will understand it well! If you're a sarcastic person, you will love him

I enjoyed the class and he's very knowledgeable on the subject, but it was tough. Even if you read the book and study, you'll see things on the test that you've never seen before. He does not round your final grade, but he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities so definitely do them.

I signed up for summer PSY 218 course & completed it in whole month! I really wanted an A, but too much covered in a little bit of time. He is an amazing professor, talks about real-life issues. I loved his amazing lectures. He truly makes you understand the material. There is so much to read and retain. 2 tests, 2 hw, & 1 writing assignment.

Entertainer and knowledgeable scholar at the same time, he is not afraid to be blatantly honest or even crude at times. Do not take anything he says too personally, pay attention in class, do the homework and papers he assigns, and everything you are expected to do, you will pass. He is not unreasonable and his directions are clear.

Basic PP each lecture, so focus more on what he says. He is funny, knowledgeable, and relates to students. Really inspired me to want to be in the field. Not an easy grader or test-maker. Gives crystal-clear learning objectives for each test; study them, do well on tests. He's there when you need help, but doesn't act helpful if that makes sense.

Dr. Mikulay is incredible. His teaching style makes the material more relatable & accessible. The textbook readings & the lectures are equally important; the lectures give opportunity to gain insight from an actual psychologists own experiences, but test questions are taken from the book. He'll help you with hw & papers via email &/or office hours!

At first I thought he was too intense for a community college. This was coming from me after returning to school after graduating with a bachelors from a 4 yr university 13 yrs ago, but it's nice to see such great professors in a community college!!! He's funny and helpful with homework or paper questions. Do the extra credit!

His lectures were hilarious, gave clear detail, and were very helpful. You don't have to study too much for his class, but you definitely have to show up.

He wants you to LEARN the material, not memorize it. His sense of humor kept my attention the whole class! Overall, very chill dude. Don't dismiss reading the textbook or studying for this class. You will NOT pass if you do not read the textbook. Be a good student and you'll get a good grade. He is also attractive.

This guy brought a hammer to class. Everyone is laughing from the teachers jokes. Super funny and loves what he does. If you go to class and take notes you can easily get a C in the class. The 2 papers are the only thing that are hard and could bring your grade down. Only class I've taken this semester I can say I've really learned anything from!

This professor is a bit odd but in a good way. His lectures are entertaining, coming from a person who sleeps a lot in classes, and you truly do end up learning if you just pay attention. One downside would be that he is somewhat of a tough grader, but honestly just take notes in his class and you will do just fine.

Mikulay gives out a learning objectives sheet with everything that we could be tested on. Most things are covered in lecture, but some are not, so you need the book. He offers two extra credit assignments that potentially boost your grade half a letter grade. Even with very minimal studying, this class is easy to do well in.

He took attendance every day. His lectures were very easy to understand. The study guides he gives are helpful. He gives extra credit opportunities. The only thing I did not like was the two papers I had to write, he is kind of a tough grader regarding papers. That is what brought my grade down. The tests are usually easy.

Mikulay was good teacher. I took him for PSY100+215. The tests and essays were a little difficult, but nothing you couldn't study for. He made the lectures interesting, and gave plenty of stories to help. He did offer study guides and extra credit. I know some people dropped out because it was "hard," but it's college, never expect it to be easy.

I took his 8 wk summer class so I have no idea what his normal 16 wk course is like. His lectures are interesting, funny, and informative. He's a tough grader, so spending a reasonable amount of time going over your h/w and papers is a must. Keep up with reading, study for tests, and you will be fine. Don't take him if you expect an easy A.

Mikulay is an amazing professor, but he isnt an easy A. If you study hard enough and attend the lectures youll be fine. If you ask him questions beforehand, he is always helpful and willing. I was surprised I hadnt annoyed him with my endless questions, but he truly cares if his students pass. His lectures would always be the highlight of my day

This class could be a non stressor if you pay attention early on. Listen to his lectures exams revolve around that and some questions from the book. 4 exams, 4 Homework assignments, and 2 writing assignments. Personally exam 2 stumped me so stay cautious for that. Overall good professor and good person. Highly recommend taking notes.

A solid professor overall but when he lectures he can sometimes go off on a tangent about a story but most of them relate to the topic. Flexible with moving around due dates if a chapter is running long or something. Biggest thing I recommend is to READ THE TEXTBOOK because a lot of exam questions come from it.

Mikulay will not let you squeak by with the bare minimum. I took him 3 times and got 2 As and a B. You cannot be LAZY and pass his classes. If you do your writing and HW assignments EARLY he will give you the necessary feedback to improve. I would turn in my assignments early for feedback many times until they were good enough, and he allows that!
