He is so funny and gets along well with everyone. I like the fact that he remembers everyones name and makes you feel special by picking on you in the middle of class. He may scare ya when you first meet him but he really is a great guy. He can explain math EXTREMELY well and make math seem like it's a peice of cake even when it isn't.

He assigns homework after every lesson but only checks it by making pop quizzes on it maybe twice the whole semester. He wants to help but sometimes he moves very quickly and can be quite sarcastic. If you have a question on the HW, write it on the board B4 class and he will show you how to answer it. Gives great reviews 4 tests.

He is an extremely good teacher. He explains everything to the full extent. and if you don't understand ask questions. He really answers them. his tests are straight forward. I went over all the homework problems the night before the test and made an A on the first test. He has a passion for math, and there is no chance of falling asleep! very good

He is the lecture teacher for Math 1311 and you should really go to the lectures. The test are somewhat dumb and don't reflect what you learn in lab, which is mandatory to go to.. unlike lecture. So make sure to go to lecture with him and get the extra credit.

Easy but not helpful teacher. His tests were fairly easy. Horrible lecturer who only talked to front row. If you sit behind the front row, you will surely miss half of the lecture. He is also very ADD and does not articulate his words very well. Lab portion of this course was extremely horrible. All in all, I would NEVER take this course with him.

He is an awful teacher and doesn't make sense half the time. He rambles on and doesn't get to the point. I don't see the point in going to his lecture because it confuses me even more. It is sooo boring.

Totally out of touch with reality. Refuses to teach, says you are already supposed to know how to do it or learn it outside of class. Working full time ( 8 hours ), class two or three hours a day, study ten hours, still not finishing. Add the amount of hours thats 20-21 a day. Amount of homework is staggering. Honors student, can't do it.

Great teacher. Very helpful when you asked for help. Explained things clearly. I usually don't care for math but made an A. Do the homework and pay attention and you'll do fine.

Okay, he didn't take attendance but I still went to class. There were supposed to 80-something of us, but only about 20 showed up to class. I felt kind of bad. I would suggest at least going every once in a while because he will cover things your lab teacher won't. Sit in the front though, you can't hear a thing he says! His class is common sense.

Great teacher! I took his Flex class in the Spring 2010 semester . I suck at Math and he helped me through it.Yes, he expects you to do the HW but he is also makes himself available to help students. Highly recommend him!

He was pretty hard to understand at first, and I was thinking that I was going to hate his class until I went to see him for help on hw. He is very good at one-on-one help, walks you through the problems, and is overall very helpful. Lecture is not mandatory, but he'll give examples that will be on the tests.

he is really hard to understand but he does not take attendance so no one went to the class. he teaches very different from all the lab teachers so it is difficult to really understand the material when you go to lecture and then lab and the teachers do it totally different.

I enjoyed him, I thought he made math halfway bearable. He has a sense of humor. Lecture wasn't mandatory but suggested. I liked him alot.

He doesnt like students using formulas. He goes at his own pace and is not very helpful in finding alternative ways or methods of solving. His way is very difficult. Good luck! :/

Told us everything we learned in high school was pointless and learned everything the wrong way. He tried teaching us how to solve equations his way and I went back to solving them the way I learned in HS because it was a lot easier using my method. Hard to understand him since he can't talk clearly. Teaches way to fast assuming you know ever thing

He is a pretty good teacher. Exams are not so bad if you know what you are doing. He assigns homework but doesnt grade it so basically its for you to see if you understand the material. He doesnt take attendance but it would be wise to go to his class unless your a genius at math.

I don't recommend him. If you don't attend lecture and do the hw, you will most likely fail. Even doing those things, the class is still pretty difficult. He will work with you if you need it though.

His class attendance is not mandatory but if you don't understand algebra you should go. Tests are pretty easy, just like homework if you choose to do it (does not check the homework). His teaching pace is a little fast but every example given is from the text book so you can teach yourself what you don't understand.

Hard to understand him at first. I highly recommend getting to class a little early so you can get a good seat to see the screen. He is very fast paced but I do recommend taking his class. Homework is not mandatory BUT if you go back and do it before the test you will pass the tests. They are all multiple choice and you can use a calculator!

I did not like this professor. First, it was really hard to understand him, and I sat in the very front of the room. 2, he doesn't really show you how to do the problems, he just does them (Plus his hand is in the way on the Elmo so you can never see). 3, he just isn't helpful at all. If you get his class. SWITCH OUT.

Homework was not manatory but can use on quizes,test were NEVER multiple choice until the final. Goes pretty quick and all the examples are stright from the book(doesnt change them at all). If you take him take him in a large class he gets lazy and gives easier matarial so he wont have to grade as much. HAVE A CALCULATOR.

My favorite professor at Texas State. Calculus is never going to be a breeze. He explains everything very well, his lectures are interesting and he gives you time in class to work through problems with the help of people around you. Tests aren't MC but the final is. HW isn't mandatory but you gotta do it to pass. Go to every class. Excellent prof

I took a large class with this guy and was very disappointed. He might be fine in a smaller class but was very hard to understand(even up front),works too fast, and rambles too much. Never look forward to his class. His jokes are lame and he comes off as arrogant. Wish he would just go teach at some high school since he bashes HS teachers so much.

His teaching skills are not the best. He tries to use his humor to make his lessons bearable.. it ds not help. His exams are very easy and come directly from the notes, I have 95's and one 80 without studying at all. GO TO CLASS or if you don't check TopHat! TopHat is a quiz grade.

I had him for pre cal for a refresher before cal 1. I am fairly good a math but he made it much harder than it needed to be. Very tricky test questions and are never MC. had low class averages on test. i DO NOT recommend. attendance and homework are not mandatory but if you dont do homework it is very hard to pass this class.

Funniest teacher by far! Seriously, I laughed every day. He even dressed up as a pirate for Halloween (he looks like one daily). Class consists of filling out a note packet he made. Optional homework from the textbook. 4 exams and random quizzes from an online program that you take in class. Easy class if know Algebra from high school.

Extremely helpful, took him in a lecture class and never had a problem. No homework unless you want to do it, just a few tests. He gives you a note packet that you fill out during class which I find to be extremely helpful. He is funny as well and is interactive with students.

It was an easy class if you could teach yourself outside of class. Said book wasn't needed, but if you want to pass you need it to teach yourself. Tests are much harder than necessary. He isn't clear about the material in class which always left me confused. He has a packet that you fill out during class which was helpful. But I would not take him.

Doesn't take attendance, but you should go to class because he uses TopHat. TopHat was online and were questions over material he recently covered, and would be asked at the beginning or end of class. It's 15% of your grade and helps get your grade up. Hw is suggested, but if you're not good in algebra do it, or you will not do good on the exams!

Total of 3 exams and the final. He had TopHat, it was online questions that were asked at the beginning or end of class. Even if you don't answer the question right you get participation points, and really helps your grade! Do the suggested homework if you struggle in math in order to do good on the exams.

Terrible teacher! He moves incredibly fast and has a very monotone voice. The test had material I had never seen before! The only mandatory homework is 3 question quizes online but if you enter anything wrong you get the entire problem wrong. Oh! And don't ask questions because he gives you a "we went over that last weekyou're stupid" response.

The worst professor to take. Expects you to already know the material, and spends more time tossing his pen then actually teaching class. Very sarcastic, and does not speak clearly. Gives a lot of quizzes, no mandatory homework, and only 3 test along with the final. Attendance is not mandatory at all. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF, AND DO NOT TAKE HIM !

funny guy... when it's someone else asking him a question. Reminds me of Mr. Garrison from south park "now class there's no such thing as stupid questions, just stupid people". Gives quizes if hardly anyone shows up. His test are extremely difficult and not enough time given even if you know the answers. If you do take him, God speed.

The test are really hard but even if you know the answers you won't have enough time to do them. You have to teach the material to yourself outside of class. He also doesn't like when you ask questions during his lectures and on the final exam he gave us a review for the first time! but the answers on the answer sheet were wrong.

If you dont go into the class knowing how to do algebra well then you are probably not going to pass easily. He doesnt review material that he thinks you should have learned in previous classes. However, he gives a lot of partial credit and doesnt take homework up. Just have a good grasp of algebra before you take him and you'll do fine. Unlike me.

RUDE individual. I sat front row next to a student with disabilities whom he often made fun of in our 400 person class. I missed very few classes, took awesome notes, joined a study group met twice a week and still failed. I had two deans list students in my study group, both also failed this class. DO NOT TAKE.

I found him to be funny and helpful if you didn't understand something. I took him for CALC II during a summer session- hard subject in a hard class. No multiple choice exams until the final, and don't expect to finish them; however, if he knows you and sees that you're trying, then he will most likely bump you up a letter grade- he did for me.

One of the wort professors I've had. He rushes through everything so fast and if your algebra skills are not strong, he will literally make fun of you. Try to participate in class so he will see you have interest in passing. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have daily quizzes. 3 exams and only 8 people in my class got over a 60 on each test.

I fortunately have 3 years of Calculus behind me, so I don't need to be in class every day to learn the material. However, I constantly have to tutor my other classmates and help with homework due to the painstaking amount of work he gives in such a short time. He covers entire units in a day, and his quizzes are graded tough. Very condescending.

Dont get me wrong Peterson is a good teacher. The thing is you only have these super hard pop quizzes and 3 exams which they grade super tough on. They really do nothing to help your grade like hw and extra credit besides dropping your lowest test grade

Took this professor for College Algebra. Had a "Too good to teach college algebra." attitude throughout the semester. Lectures were fine, went by fast. First test we had he didn't copy correctly, so we were graded on 14 questions instead of the usual 20-24. No curve. He's a funny guy, but if you aren't already good at math, I'd be wary

Don't listen to any of these sissies, this class is a cake-walk as long as you go to class and study hard. He's a great teacher, very funny and sarcastic. But dear lord is he ugly. Like I'm serious guys he is so ugly, it's scary. He looks like Lucky from King of the Hill combined with the guy from Aerosmith. It's awful. Anyway, good teacher.

The lectures were pretty simple as Prof. Peterson explains every concept in great detail, the tests were the only challenge. One test can be super easy and the second can be extremely difficult. There were times where I couldn't believe I was in a college level algebra class because it was so dumbed-down. Interesting guy, but not a bad professor.

peterson was awesome. attendance isn't mandatory but i highly suggest going to class because the notes will help so much. Super funny and easy going, but isn't going to make it super easy for you either. if you aren't very good at math you might struggle a little but if you pay attention in class and ask questions, you should be fine.

I don't recommend taking him if you have trouble with math. He moves at a very fast pace and assumes the students know everything already and it's just review. Ridiculous pop quizzes every week and the tests are very difficult. He does give partial credit, but even still I'm pretty sure 80% of my class probably failed overall.

Professor Peterson is on of the few people I have seen who can actually teach math correctly. He teaches you how to succeed in the next class you take instead of slowly rolling through the current one. Hard class, but definitely worth it

Peterson is very cutthroat. If you are already good at math, take him. IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH, DO NOT TAKE HIM. he is very harsh and not understanding. he knows his material quite well but will not be very motivating and he does not try to teach people with different learning styles. This class was extremely difficult for no reason.

Peterson is a very intelligent guy who knows his stuff. If u go to class & participate and take notes u will do well. Prepare to work hard, it's not an easy A and no extra credit. There are 4 exams & a final that replaces your lowest + a lot of HW. His mannerisms come off as sarcastic & rude, but he is really caring if u need help & want 2 learn.

Professor Peterson is not your typical easy "A" professor. He is respected and knows math wellI had to work hard in that class to get that average because I'm not the best at math. My advice is to STUDY as much as you can. Attend every class because he will cover something that will be on a test! Don't go and you might as well hurt your own grade.

This is a very challenging class because of his teaching style. He skips around a lot during lectures and he is often condescending if you ask questions. I basically taught myself everything in this course, the book isnt required but I got it and used it because I often left Petersons class very confused. Overall he is not a nice person.

For my class, he was great. If a student didn't know how to do a certain algebra move, he didn't critize them and instead showed them how to do it. He makes sure you have a solid foundation. The class was through zoom but he was fast to respond to the chat box leading to more particpation from the class. He is a solid choice for precal.

Do not take his class if you struggle with math or need extra help. He seems to mock people when they dont know what theyre doing or answer wrong. He teaches very fast and expects students to already be familiar with what hes teaching which is why he blows through the notes. His class is only quizzes and exams. Quizzes are easy, exams harder.

Peterson is not the best teacher if you're not completely comfortable with math. He teaches very fast and expects students to be familiar with material that might not be so fresh in your head. When you ask a question he mocks you in front of the class. He says its in good fun but it feels degrading. If you can keep up, you'll do great.

If you are looking for a professor for Math 1329 or any other math, get far away from this professor. He speeds through the entire semester and expects you to have prior knowledge to every lesson. His quizzes are ridiculous and during this semester, at least 3-4 quizzes had typos, so they were impossible to answer. Do not take his class.

You need to be good at algebra prior to taking professor Peterson, and if you dont strengthen those skills fast enough then he will roll past you and you will be left behind in the class. And being left behind in the class isnt too bad but if you let it keep going then there will be a point where no matter what you do you wont catch up to him.

Do not recommend this professor I had to drop his class after exam 2 because there was no way in passing his class. Your grade is determined by the tests which are 60% and homeworks were only 10%. He teaches way too fast and doesn't explain the steps clearly of how he got the answers. To learn the material you will have teach yourself.

I am revisiting this after I have finished taking Mr. Peterson this semester. I am not going to lie, you are not going to like him at all at the beginning. Maybe not the whole time youre in his class. However, if you show up to class, participate, and look past the occasional snarky comment. He really is a great teacher that wants you to succeed.

At first glance Peterson can be a bit grating, poking fun of students for sillier questions, etc., but he'll give you all the information you need to know for the tests. If you struggle with math, maybe look for another professor, but say if you're just coming out of highschool and still have a good grasp of Algebra, I'd take him.

This was the worst & most dreaded class I've ever taken. He expects you to answer in class then makes fun of you if its not the exact wording he imagined in his head. He is terrible at teaching and doesn't teach you how to do something. If you don't know everything about algebra, good luck. He does give partial credit on quizzes and tests.

I think Professor Peterson is a great professor for those more versed in math, however, if you have holes in your math knowledge then I would find another professor more accommodating. He has pop quizzes in class so attendance is mandatory and a necessity to learn the material. The final replaces lowest exam, HW and quiz grades get boosted as well.

This class was difficult and Mr. Peterson does not enjoy when you ask him algebra question, I often had to google something but hes not so bad. If you have taken algebra recently then youre probably alright but if you have not then dont take him or you'll struggle like I did. Test are very difficult, do the HW's I found them helpful for exams.

I felt very unhappy in his class and did not enjoy learning the material, because he goes very fast in lectures. He likes to throw snarky comments at his students. You basically have to teach yourself the material in his class. I dont recommend taking his class if you haven't taken a math class in years. -100000/100

His lectures move very fast and he is very particular about how he wants you to solve problems. Tests are only around 13 questions, however they are multiple choice and graphing calculators are allowed. I would say he talks about the subject rather than working with the class to teach.

At the beginning of the semester, this class can be fairly difficult, as you struggle with algebra, but as long as you go to class and you put in the time you'll be fine. He gives "mini homework" which are essentially test questions. Do these and you'll be fine and well ready for the exams. This professor isn't as bad as people make him out to be.

This class was punishing. In one of the first lectures, we were informed that 60% of us would fail. While I don't believe it was intended, he came across as crass and down-putting. Any algebra issues and you were on your own. I stuck with it, attended every lecture and lab, and ended up pulling off an A on the final, and he kindly bumped me to an A

If you're thinking about taking him, you probably shouldn't. Unless you're a wiz at math and can easily catch on and don't mind teaching yourself majority of the lessons. Don't even think about asking questions or answering one incorrectly; he'll most likely ridicule you about it in front the entire class.

I had to study everyday 3 hours before class and spend my weekends preparing for exams, but if you are capable, go for it. Professor Peterson cares about his students but can be somewhat harsh to students who are confused. If you are good at math, take him, if not, you will fail. He does give a lot of partial/extra credit though!

This was a very hard class. There are pop quizzes that are not mentioned until you find out you missed it and recived a zero that you can't do anything about. He does a problem once and claims he taught you so you can't ask for help. The people that take this class have to be math savvy and willing to teach themselves outside of class.

If you're an underclassmen who's mediocre at math and wants a professor who cares about their students do not take his class. I did not like professor Peterson. He would call out students for not understanding material that we just learned. When a student would as a questions he would make them seem dumb for not understanding, and wouldn't even answer our questions. Every other day he would give out a quiz for the last 10 minutes of class. I do not recommend taking him.

Mr. Peterson was always willing to help us whenever someone didn't understand a concept. He was one of the first math teachers I had that didn't really care how we did things as long as we got the right answer. He followed the notes exactly and gave out exam reviews that matched the tests well. He's quite the character, but I liked his class.

He has a certain way of running the class that may or may not work for you. For me, it did not click whatsoever. He is not a very nice guy... he likes to pick on people in the lecture for not understanding the material and he has a very big ego. The test reviews are nothing like the tests and he makes the reviews way too long. The homework assignments are a small part of your grade, and the tests are 60% so if you're not good with tests you're screwed.

A lot of these reviews will tell you he was a bad prof, but very honestly he is just blunt. The class I took was online, all homework is due at the end of the course. Quizzes are 3-5 questions each. The final exam replaces your lowest test grade. The exams are made up of a lot of quiz ?'s so just study! He does care just a lil harsh.

I was really confused by all the bad reviews this professor got until I reflected on who the critics are. If you actually put some effort in to succeed you'll realize he's given you all the tools you need. You can tell he's passionate about students actually learning the material. Prof. Peterson has a very specific teaching style that may not work for everyone. Stay on top of the material, use resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook, and you'll do well if you're willing to put in the effort.

Professor Peterson has been by far my favorite professor. He's very strict and has a harsh sense of humor, but he will help you to the best of his ability if you start by putting in your own time and dedication. Make sure you attend each class as this course is very lecture-heavy, and utilize his class hours if you need them.

I had him for TSI math and he was really helpful. He would help us with our alternate math class and he would break the equations things! His humor is "dark" but it makes you laugh. The only con was pop quizzes but as long as you pass math 1316 you will pass this class!

We have to print 137 pages of notes for the first week of class. He gives random pop quizzes almost every class and doesn't post notes online. Missing a quiz is hard to make up, so if you skip class, you will likely fail. His lectures are good, and he walks around to help, but they move fast, and it's sometimes hard to absorb the material.

I loved Professor Peterson as a freshman. I failed every single algebra class that I took in high school; the subject just never clicked for me. I passed Peterson's class with a 93 thanks to his help and guidance. His humor isn't for everyone, but he's an incredibly intelligent professor. He is very blunt and kind of rude. He expects a lot out of you and will call you out or scold you if you don't know enough. I wouldn't take this class if you're struggling with Math already, just writes down notes and he does questions with us but then expects you to do completely different questions. His exams are very tricky, he will give you a 70 page review and only have 15 something questions that really only focus on one thing. He only has 4 exams so study hard.

This professor would make me and my friend feel stupid for answering his questions wrong. He would also call us out on our mistakes in front of the of the whole class. He did not communicate with our intermediate professor on his lesson plan that was not going along the university's for this course, or even reviews. This made his class harder.

He is clear about grading and the tests honestly match the study guides, talk to him he cares I know he seems like he doesn't but he just wants to see you put effort!:(

The other reviews talking about how this prof is condescending are true. He walks around during class and make remarks on others. I would not take this professor if you have the option to. Exam grades are worth 80 PERCENT of your grade, save your gpa. Only taught by giving a problem and working it out but barely explaining while he does. 0/10.

He doesn't care if you pass or fail, he will treat you like you are dumb if you ask a question that you “should already know the answer to” or if you answer a question wrong, he explains everything in a weird way, and i had to go to so many days of tutoring (the tutors taught better than him)
