Ms. Fluker is by far one of the very best instructors at SLU. I took her class last semester and wish she taught other subjects so I could take her again. She brings humor and respect to her class environment.

She is very nice. She doesn't give pity grades so don't expect to cry during a speech and pass. She'll help you the best that she can if you come to her and ask. 9 times out of 10 you won't have to ask for help cause she makes the directions very clear.

Ms. Fluker is an excellent teacher. She is very outgoing and the way she teaches the course reflects her personality. She has great story telling skills and some of the things that comes out of her mouth will have you rolling on the floor laughing. She's like a homegirl but you will definitely learn and benefit from her teachings. Take her!!!

Best teacher ive ever had, and that is including highschool. She talks fast, is funny, very outgoing, and just a really down to earth kinda gal. She def. knows how to teach because I def. speak a lot better in front of large crowds and she is so easy to get along with. If you have to take COMM 211, TAKE HER!!!

She's got a sense of humor, but knows when to get serious in order to help you as far as your speeches go. She's respectful and tactful as well, which is a HUGE plus in my book.

This professor truly cares about her students. She does expect you to do your work (and study of course), but she will provide help if you are in need. Her exams are not difficult if you study and her speeches are a blast. She is the embodiment of a model professor. I recommend Ms. Fluker to all!

Yes, I agree that Ms. Fluker is a good teacher. She's helpful and her class is easy. But she's very obnoxious. I can relate to having a fun personality and charisma, but she tends to overact and become loud. Her speech at times can seem very uneducated, even though we all know that she is an educated woman. Take her class, though. Easy A. Just try.

I thought of myself as an ok public speaker but the class really did make me better at it. She gives you step by step directions and helps make speeches easier for you if you're not good at it.

Family communication was a very touching, interesting class. Lots of presentations. Group work was ok. Being a strong, creative speaker helps. Ms. Fluker thrives on that stuff. Only a midterm & final for exams. She gives a clear study guide. One was "open book-ish" & the other was take-home. Pretty cool class. Take it.

The assignments seemed very "thrown together" for a business professional speaking class. Group work/projects were the basis for grades. Be creative, blunt, and shocking. Ms. Fluker loves that kind of stuff. Some people may have to adjust to her humor, but she's pretty cool. Only one paper/presentation that counted as both the midterm and final.

Great teacher! This class has helped me more than any other class at selu! Alot of group work, 3 speeches, and two test. She's extremely freindly, and does not mind helping her students. Not hard at all... TAKE HER

Miss Fluker is a hoot! She is so funny and entertaining. She makes class fly by. I opened the book once all year to study for the 2 tests you have. She will help you with anything, just take the time and ask her. She was truly a joy to listen to. I looked forward to this class. Only issue is she does take off 25 points for any missed class.

You have to be a good speaker to get an A, but she will help you and tell you EXACTLY what you're doing wrong. She does things by the book, so it's not exactly easy, but she makes the learning environment a lot less stressful.

Great Teacher, loved this class. was fun, entertaining, made learning to speak in front of a group easy and non-stressful. So enjoyed this class, changed my minor to communications. book used for 1 chapter, class not mandatory but if you show up you get bonus points towards final grade.

Incredible teacher!!! She doesn't GIVE grades, you have to earn them. But she is very easy in terms of making you comfortable with giving a speech. Her class has an easy format. I am extremely happy that I chose to take her class. I HIGHLY recommend her. Don't listen to the negative Nancy's on here who tell you otherwise.

Mrs. Fluker is a wonderful teacher. She has successfully made the art of public speaking an enjoyable experience. Her directions are clear, and as long as you follow the rubric, you will do fine. One thing is that she doesn't usually directly explain how things work. She assumes that you already know things and will not clarify unless you ask.

Very professional. Funny. Very thorough. Does not give grades; expect to earn every point. Will always help anytime you have a question. She wants you to do well, but you have to put in the effort. You know exactly what to expect in her classroom. Great semester.

I would recommend anyone to take her class. She was very attentive and helpful. I had given speeches before but I never felt so comfortable getting up in front of class doing the speeches I had for her class. She also has a great sense of humor and that makes the class even more interesting. Attendance is a must. Above all she's a great teacher.

Her honors class is just like her non honors except for an easy pass or fail paper, so take the honors. Plus, the honors has smart kids to help out! Ms. Fluker has passion for what she teaches and it shows. This class was well organized. You will have to complete four speeches and the grading criteria is very clear. Only downfall is she doesn't stay current on uploading grades to Moodle but that really isn't a huge deal.

Ms. Fluker really cares and wants to help you do as well as you can. She kind of read me for my first speech, but she gave great feedback. When I learned from her feedback and improved, so did my grade. It was that simple. It was also nice how she doesn't make you start speaking extremely quickly. If you are anxious, you'll have time to warm up.

Shes a very understanding lady. If you are shy about giving speeches, she had this early bird thing where you can show up 15 mins. before class started and give your speech to herself and 4 other students. The max early bird students were 5. If you want in, I'd be there 30 mins. before class because it fills up fast. I would totally take her again.

Makes an uncomfortable class feel easier. As long as you put effort into your speeches you can do just fine. Don't underestimate the midterm and final, you need to actually study to do good on them. The NQA will be your favorite thing ever.

I was not looking forward to public speaking, but Ms. Fluker made it feel so comfortable! She also offers extra credit (which is how I ended the class with an A), and an "early bird special", where the first four to five people that show up to class 30 minutes before the speech, you don't have to give the speech to the whole class.

Made public speaking a breeze, took her over the summer. Do what she says and ask her opinion of your topic of choice and really take in her feedback, if she doesn't like your topic you probably won't do well so ask her opinion!!

Pretty good educator, very fun and comical teacher. She's fun to be around and listen to and its a very fun class environment. I had fun in this class, but beware, don't slack on the speeches, she is a tough grader.

Ms. Fluker is a GREAT professor. I wish I can have a teacher like her for all my classes. favorite professor this semester. I will say you need to practice before you give a speech but other than that you'll pass. Also she gives you a one opportunity to drop your lowest test grade, not do a speech or not take a test. Use it wisely.

Comm 101 is by far and effortless class. You just have to give a 2 minute speech at the end and watch other people come in and lecture. Ms. Fluker didnt really have any involvement but when she did talk to the class, she was really funny and nice. Youll get an A on everything

Fluker does her best to make you comfortable with her and the class. She offers students an early bird on 3 out of the 4 speeches. There will be a midterm and a final, that is based upon a study guide she gives out. She offers a drop grade that can be used towards any of the speeches or test. I recommend saving your drop grade for your lowest grade

She brought in a guest speaker for the first half of the term so everyone had a chance to hear more about their concentration field. The assignments in class is just giving feedback to the guest speaker. There is one midterm test, but the all the answers are provided. Only a 2 minute speech and a 4 year plan. Highly recommend. very good teacher.

She is very funny and tries to relate the material to you. I will most certainly take her again. You have several guest speakers throughout the class.

Professor Shawndee Fluker is such a funny and kind character. She gives good feedback on speeches and gives clear insight into what she excepts on the assignments.

Professor Fluker has really gained my respect. Extremely accessible outside of class, I've even sent her an email at like 11pm and she still responds! Sometime I feel like she can be a tough grader, but she is very fair. one thing i really loved was she would send video announcements instead of emails which was super helpful!

I have major speech anxiety and she has helped me so much! She allows you so much time to work on your speeches and peer review other students work. She grades with a purpose and gives the most detailed feedback to help you improve.

Took her for a term 1 class online and it was not a bad class at all. I would recommend taking COMM211 online if you don't like talking in front of a crowd like I do. Her grades are based on 3 or 4 speeches, a couple of discussion boards, and a super-easy final. She can be a tough grader, but it will make you a better speaker in the end.

Ms. Fluker's online COMM 210 class was easy and fun. The speeches were not too bad and the discussion boards took some time, but if you did them, they were easy. She gave GREAT feedback on all speeches, so you can improve and do your best. Overall, an easy online class with a good instructor!

There are no tests, only 5 speeches and small, easy quizzes. She is very lenient with your speeches (all of them are 5 minutes and under with easy topics). She gives you ample time to submit your speech with easy grading rubric. I do not like public speeches so this was perfect because only she saw it! No final or midterm! Take her!

She was very easy with the grading if you stuck with the criteria. I took her online so it was easy to get things prepared, but she does treat the speeches as if they were in person, so you have to be dress appropriate, good background with minimal noise and etc. She also gives extra credit at the end of the course. 10/10 woman.

Very easy professor. She's very understanding about a lot of things and also easy to get in touch with. I think we did maybe 3 speeches. The third speech being our final exam. Everything is step by step in her class. So each week you have one portion of the speech due so you aren't allowed to cram right before its due. I would take her again.

Communications was a class I was not looking forward to, but it ended up being better than I thought it would. Ms. Fluker was great! You won't just just get an automatic A, you have to put the work in, but she is a fair grader. Pro tip, even though it's online it's still easy tell when people didn't practice or put any effort into things.

She responded to emails, even when I had a problem on the quiz and she was willing to fix my grade. Make sure for your speeches you read over the criteria to get all of your points. Professor Fluker was absolutely one of my favorite professors. She is very clear on instructions and what you have to do in order to get a good grade in the class. This class had 3 speeches total, one written speech and two video speeches, one being a self intro and the other being Teacher for a Day. If you do the work you will get an A!! 10/10

She was a great professor! We did a lot of fun projects and she walks you through each step week by week. When she grades she gives great feedback so you know why you got the grade you did. Her quizes replace the final and they are super easy. I would recomend her if you need this class.

Ms. Fluker does a fine job at teaching online. She is tough when grading big assignments but everything else is an easy A. She also responds to emails in a timely manner and has a consistent schedule with assignments. Not a bad option for COMM2100.
