Great teacher and very clear in his explanations on topics. He also does tons of examples and proofs to try to get you to better understand the concepts. If you don't understand something, just email him or go to his office hours and he'll try to help you.

It is highly unlikely you will ever find a math teacher who is as helpful as this guy (Professor Vargo). Anyone who gets to take this teacher should feel lucky because there are not many math teachers like this around. He is super smart, and he will help you if you need it.

Professor Shayne is the most approachable, as well as helpful, professor I have ever had. He is the first person I have met that does not seem to eat, or sleep, he simply just metabolizes mathematics. In full, he is a very good and fair professor, who administers practice exams, review sheets, and practice finals.

Professor Vargo was an excellent teacher! I took his Math 150 course in this past 8 week Summer session. I didn't do too well, but he knew his stuff! He was always enthusiastic and he really cared about the students. He was teaching a couple of other courses at the same time and you knew he was over worked but he was still extremely helpful!

Shayne is Da Man! You wont find another teacher that cares as much as he does about teaching math. I've had the pleasure of taking him for Math 252/254/255 and it was awesome. His lectures are very concise and he takes the time to answer questions. Tests are challenging, but he gives you plenty of resources including full solutions to HW problems.

I've had Shayne for all Calculus classes I, II, and III. He's the best teacher you're gonna have in college. He will help you in any way he can. He's very reasonable and fair and cares a lot about his students and he won't give you assignments that won't benefit you. This guy is awesome.

Got to rate this cool professor. End up a A of Linear Equation at Grossmont College. Simple lecture notes and you even dont need to look at the textbook. The textbook is very abstract but he makes it look simple (also you will kinda lose depth concern what linear equation) anyway, he makes exam straight forward from practice exam. Highly recommand.

Professor Vargo is by far the best math teacher I have ever taken. Very helpful and clear, if you show up to class and do the homework in MyMathLab there is no reason you should not pass. There is also ample extra credit if you need points for the next letter grade up. I would highly recommend for people who struggle with math, as I do.

When I signed up for the class I was expecting to struggle since I skipped calc 1 & 2 but with Vargos help I made an easy B. He's really helpful at his office and he really showed us calculus in a way we could understand, plus the notes quizzes and practice exams helped for exams. Easily the best teacher I've has! Would recommend for any class.

This man is a godsend for linear algebra. He makes concepts and proofs easy to grasp, and loves what he does. Only if he taught differential equations, would I be satisfied. He adds people from waitlist, so show up no matter what your rank is on it.

Taking him for Calc 3. His lectures are organized well and his tests stay true to what was taught. I'd definitely recommend attending every lecture. Anything you need to know for homework and tests is covered clearly and thoroughly. You'll have a good deal of homework but as long as you complete it, you're guaranteed to be prepared for tests.

His grading policy is fair, exams are fair, and he goes out of his way to create study guides, check each homework and give feedback. A truly remarkable professor. The best Math Professor in Miramar!! I took two of his classes. He is organized. He loves his job and his students. He gives a pre-quiz that will be almost exact as the actual test. Gives extra credit. He goes step by step on what you need to know to pass his class. I sincerely recommend his class. You also don't need to buy the math book.

I'll start by saying that I've never felt like writing writing a review before until this teacher. Shayne is by FAR the best math teacher I've ever had, period. Hes productive on the board, does a lot of examples, and is very clear with his answers. Quiz given out every week, and he provides practice exams for the exams. He loves his job.

Math isn't my strongest subject but Shayne made this class SO easy and simple to comprehend. He is easy to talk to and willing to help with EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you need help with. There are some HW problems in each section. The quizzes are easy and tests are like the HW questions, if not, easier than that. Do yourself a favor and take him.

Professor Vargo is the best mathematics professor I've had. He's kind, funny, gives very clear instructions and examples, and doesn't waste time trying to get you to "like math". If you're willing to put in the work and ask when you're confused (which should be rare), you'll pass. If I could, I'd choose to take all of my math courses with him.

I took him for Cal 1. He is the greatest Math professor I have ever had. He made calculus and some abstract chapters so easy to visualize. He is also very helpful. You can find him at Math lab. He gives one funny question for every exam. For me, it kinda tricky if you dont know the materials so well. You really need to have a brainstorm.

Vargo is a very caring teacher. When I got back my last exam for Linear Algebra (A low C), he looked like he was stifling himself from crying. I desensitize myself from bad grades, as it can detract from working to get them better, but I realized how badly I was doing, and I almost cried myself because of how he cared.

Has a way of breaking down even the most complex topics and making them understandable. Calc. 2 wasn't easy by any means but the way he teaches made it manageable. Professor Shayne is dedicated to students understanding the material - he will review stuff that you should have learned before (but might not have). This is easily the best professor at any of the schools in the community college district. Math is hard for some people, but he makes it so easy. Easily accessible, will answer your questions and give good answers to make you understand it. His exam questions are all variations of a question you did in the homework or in class. Take if he's open.

Shayne is an extremely organized, elegant lecturer. He actually takes time to grade hw the old-fashioned way- with handwritten feedback. Shayne is what every math teacher SHOULD be. He teaches the material in a way that anyone will understand. I was concerned about Calc 1 but he removed any fear I had. His exams may seem tough, but they are not bad if you understand the CONCEPTS. Don't study based on problems, but this should be for any upper division math. Take him if you can!

Absolutely fantastic. Made the hardest calc course so easy and understandable. If you need to take calc 2 and worry you won't get it then take it with Shayne. He'll explain everything in such an easy way that a 5th grader will integrate.

Office hours always see him surrounded by students, but he makes time for all. Starts every class with time for homework questions, and always makes sure you understand before moving on.
