If you keep up with the daily requirements, class is fun.
Has an accent but doesn't interfere with teaching. She swears by MLA. Don't take her. Very strict and goes too fast. Does not allow us to ask many questions
Great english teacher; if you want to learn. Will work with you in class on how to write your essays. She will give adequate amount of time to finish assignment. If you do the bare minimum of just finishing the assignment on the due dates, you shouldn't struggle with this class at all.

I would not suggest taking her. Although I passed with an "A" it was the most difficult grade I've ever earned.
Her class is very intriguing, but whenever someone asks a question she is very unclear and goes completely around the question. I find this, in particular, very annoying and offensive. Although, she is certified and is very knowledgeable she needs help with staying on the main focus. I am lost in her class and depend on myself to bring my grade up.
She is one of the best professors I have had at Valley College. You must work for your grade however. She will not just hand out an 'A' because she feels sorry for you. She also expects her students to participate in class discussions, so be sure to read everything she assigns.
dr free is very good teacher every since i took her class i was able to write an essay that was creative...the only problem is that she doesnt follow the dates on the syllabus gets kind of annoying and sometimes she does not explain the person question correctly but i suggest to take this class she is very good at explaining how essay works
if you need english 102,never never take her.she is soooo hard and not creative.
She is the best teacher that Valley has to offer! She takes a personal interest in each students' success.
She is a very good teacher that is more than willing to work with you on your papers. She requires class attenence and participation. She likes to work with you one on one and offers you as much help as you need.

Attendance is mandatory in this course!! If you plan on missing, this is not the course for you! The text book will be your guide, so plan on reading it. She's very helpful and give feed back on essays and summaries. Just be on time and attend and you can pass this class.

She has fun classes but they die down very fast. attending is a must. i did not understand her style of teaching. if you wana be an english major take her!!!!!

I love the way she teaches because she does care about you passing her class. Yes she can be strict, but if you follow her instructions you will be fine. She is funny!! and she does help you a lot whenever you ask for her help.
This is the hardest class that I have EVER taken. Dr. Free gives you a work out but it has helped me to improve my writing skills so much! Attendance is manditory in her class if you miss just one day you might as well pack it in! Dr. Free is not a hand holder do don't expect it!
I had an absolutely amazing experience. My writing improved markedly. In addition, Dr.Free's dedication to teaching reaffirmed my dedication to learning. One would be wise to invest in her class.

Dr. Free is really sweet lady with alot to give. she can be a little hard, but it truly benifits you! if you fail her class, its because you're lazy. I highly reccomend her, unless you are immature and fresh out of high school and not ready to do the college work. she doesn't play games. SERIOUS STUDENTS ONLY!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED Dr. Frees class. She kept the class interesting and involved. I highly recommend her class, but I have to warn you, you must show up and be on time. She is truly remarkable and I actually looked forward to each and every class. She's tough, but gives you more than enough time to complete the few assignments she gives you;-)

Dr.Free is perhaps the best teacher I have had in junior college. The Syllabus clearly explains everything that will happen during the course. After taking the class I have become a better writer and a better student. Do not take this class if you are lazy, a slacker, and do not want to improve your writing/critical thinking skills!
Dr. Free is a great professor!! I specifically chose to take her last semester for 015 based on her ratings from this website. She's an awsome instructor and has patience for students that have it in them Improve!! I soley agree with the others that say this class is NOT for slackers! If you really want to learn, take one of her classes.
she is very nice lady, BUT she is VERY,VERY HARD TEACHER... yes your writing done get better but is not because she help you. For,all the help that you get is from out side help... i won't take her if i was you... only if truly want to lean how to write... i would take Mrs. Johnson ...she better teacher in my eyes.
Dr. Free is a good teacher, the only thing I have to say is that she isn't too forgiving when it comes to absences. You do learn a lot in the class, and if you come on time, and do the work(which honestly isn't THAT hard), it's an easy A.
Very well-informed teacher. Enjoyed her class very much. She does require good work, but she is understanding and pushes you to do your best and helps you become more confident. If you want to learn from a well-rounded professional and you're a steady worker, take her. Very willing and eager to work one on one with you. Best teacher I've yet taken.

Dr. Free is brutally, brilliant, beautiful and very helpful. Before Dr. Free's class, I hated english with a passion and now I am excited to continue learning how to become a better writer. Dr. Free ROCKS!! I highly encourage YOU to take her!
Dr. Free is not only an English teacher she is a walking encyclopedia and she is very informed of today's society and will come to class with the latest news. If you are a SERIOUS student and is willing to learn, I recommend this class,Dr. Free is awesome & amazing. However if you are slacker and have an attitude take someone else she will NOT deal
I hate english.. but Dr. free helped me. She is very strict. However, she will help you.. You will not get out early. I you dont what to work hard take a different teacher.. I just finished Eng 101 with an A+, and i hate English

Dr. Free is a great teacher. We started our class with 35 people and the final day we had 5 but as long as you have good attendance and pay attention you will do well. She is the best Professor Ive had since I have been at valley. She is extremely helpful and is one of the few teachers that actually cares about her students.

She is very hard, mean and not helpful.. When you have questions, she constantly referring all your questions answers is in the 6 thick pages class guidelines which was so annoying.
She seemed ok at first,then when the class got a third of the way it got extremely difficult. Half the class dropped and they were the smart ones. She gives you one on one only to tear your paper. Then on the mock finals she is just standing next to you reading it making you feel bad. I tried my hardest in that class only to feel like a failure.
Dr. Free is one of the best teachers I?ve ever had!!!! I hate taking English classes, but she really teaches you how to be a better writer. If you?re willing to learn and take what she teaches to heart, you?ll do great. I can?t say enough about her. She?s an amazing teacher! I only wish I could take her for all my English classes.
I hated English and was horrible in it took he twice for 015 and the level. Below that . She was so patient and really descriptive in what mistake you made on your essay makes you work on differen element of the same essay and she really prepared me for 101 200 English . Really cares for her student recommend her for all levels of English
She seems nice and a good teacher but turns her back on you fast! I dont understand how a student can get an A all semester long and she drops your grade down to a C when you were doing the same as you were before. I feel see has her favorites and not grades based on the actual material. If you take her you will soon regret it.
Dr. Free is one of the best professors I've had at Valley. She is tough but she is extremely helpful and an expert. She has her masters for a reason. She truly cares for her students. If you don't take it because you're scared of the work, then what are you doing in college? It will be the same in a 4 year university. Her class REALLY helped me!!
Dr.S. Free is by far the most challenging professor I have ever taken, but she is extremely helpful. Although there are times when were you feel overwhelmed by the workload, she is doing it for your benefit and for you to succeed. You'll know when I am telling the truth and she say's "you see and there it is"

Dr. Free is a great professor,yet it is not a easy class. However, if you come to class ready to learn,and can handle cunstructive criticism you will be fine.
Dr. Free seems nice at first, but quickly changes her tune if you are not a favorite. Her syllabus is confusing, and her grading is unreasonable. I missed 2 classes all quarter, and she dropped me an entire grade. She expects perfection, but yet doesn't explain assignments well enough to accomplish that. I would avoid Dr. Free's class.
Dr.free is very nice, she starts class off topic, she is a somewhat helpful teacher, she does tend to have favoritism. She is very passionate about English,but doesn't really explain assignments to well.
If you do not have to take this professor then I suggest you pick another one. She is very very confusing as to what she means. She is good at saying one thing and then stabbing you in the back and doing exactly opposite. If you are not a favorite, and she plays that, then you can go from a A student to a F student just because you don't agree.

She explains rules every day.Has terrible accent.Her syllabus is unclear.Notes are all over the place. Does not give proper instructions on assignments.Has absolutely no people skills.She favors students. She's disrespectful. Save yourself the hassle and don't take her class!! Oh and she wears Sandals every day and u have to see her ugly toes eww!

This is no easy class but it is not impossible to pass. She is a kind person but not push over. You have to study.

She is nice, but her notes are unorganized and she favors certain people. The class is horrible and I always dread going to her class, like right now! Also, she makes you waste your money on books you'll only use a few times, the main thing you will only use through out the class is a dictionary.
Although I do find Dr. Free to be very inspirational this class proved to be a great challenge . She will push you to be a critical thinker because she will not be very clear on what she is looking for. Another obstacle I encountered was she will not go over grammar very much but does give you many resources to get help like the writing center etc
I do not recommend her at all. In HS, I aced all my AP english courses. I did not need to take 101, only 102. She seemed very nice and helpful at first. Once she starts grading your papers, her true colors are clear. If your paper is not based off HER ideas then she will fail you in a heartbeat. There is no free expression in this English course.
She can be nice at first but grades you on something you don't know what she is expecting. She does not explain while she can get your hopes up on passing but she will fail you !
Dr. Sheela Free is a great teacher! I took her over the summer. She is a tough grader ,but she does she does that because she want you to master grammar. She also takes participation seriously. Dr. Sheela Free has saved my writing and has prepared me for ENGL 015. Highly recommended!
Warning to all! Do not take Dr. Free. I asked her for help and told her I was having a hard time understanding and instead of helping, she told me " then this is not a good fit " Does not explain anything! All you do is take notes and she expects you to know what to do. Horrible teaching skills.
Not very clear and will not help you if you ask. I came from phelan to talk to her for some help she told me to look at my syllabus and basically I went home disappointed very strict and will be straight forward with you.

Dr. Sheela Free is an amazing professor, I learned a lot from her and would definitely take a class she taught again. I keep hoping that she will teach another that I can take. But I am an alumni and there are few classes that I have not already taken

Makes faces at your work if she does not like what she sees, VERY UNCLEAR of what she's looking for, kind of hard to understand her due to her accent and she puts students down so easily.
Just do not even try to get in this class the highest grade you will receive is maybe a C.

Take her at your own risk, she is not specific with what she wants and she talks about word power to much. She repeats her lessons a lot even though she is a bad teacher as a person she is really nice. Participation is KEY, it is needed since day one to pass and the easiest way to pass her class.

first 3 weeks of class is nothing but giving us lectures about school nothing with english. after those 3 weeks she gives assignments that dont make sense at all !!!!! class demands alot of reading and essays after which she wants them in a specific way but doesnt explain how. dropped the class in the end.

Free assigns work WITHOUT explaining how to do it and expects the student to receive instruction from the reading/writing center. So in essence the reading/writing center is my instructor. So why is Free employed here at Valley college? Kudos to her for scamming the school into giving her a paycheck. waste of students time and money.

Great teacher! She does not assign homework but she expects you to put in the work to better your papers and writing. I learned so much. I would definitely take her again.

In order to pass her class you literally need to have her brain! Every student's opinion is worthless. She is not specific on what she wants and does not show any example of how she would like the assignment to be done. All the time she refers you to your notes or syllabus or tell you to go to the writing center. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!

Teacher was confusing in her lectures. Would bounce around different topics. Tell you to write notes down but not tell you which section to write them down in. I would get lost and disinterested halfway through the lecture. Extremely tough grader. Would not take her again.

What I learned in the class was great and useful. On the other hand the professor is horrible. I am here as a fellow survivor, I barely passed this class and I am URGING everyone to NOT take this professor. Her syllabus and assignments are very confusing, she is never clear on what she wants. If you ask her any questions about the assignment, she just tells you to read the syllabus, but the syllabus is so inconsistent and complicated.
Dr. Free is tough but fair. Do not show up without doing the reading she assigns. Expect to stretch yourself and grow a little. I went on from her class with greater confidence in my writing and myself. She helped me get into Colorado State University by writing a letter of recommendation. I graduated. Dr. Free changed my life for the better.
