SHE IS VERY UNDERSTANDING, SHE LISTENS TO EVERY STUDENTS' NEEDS AND SHE REVIEWS LESSONS WHEN NEEDED.
Really super nice, but it's tough getting through the accent!
Sheeny is very helpful, she is willing to help her students one-on-one. It is difficult to get through the accent, but she understands this and is willing to repeat things.
i had to drop this class because the teacher's lecture examples were nothing like the text problems. she also skipped over a lot of steps in solving problems during lecture. lame!
Why am I paying tuition for a class in which I have to teach myself?
Really hard to understand, doesn't explain concepts very well. Willing to help! but she is still very confusing.
when the students show her what the book says, she realizes she is wrong and says well I dont know, lets go with what the book says, How am I supposed to learn from her what she doesnt know?
Sheeny may be cute and sweet, but that doesn't make a good teacher. She needs to prepare her lessons much more meticulously and thought out so the class can follow. To do well in this class, try not to listen to her unsystematic lectures, then go home and read the book.
I had to drop this because her lectures where very confusing and she would do the same examples that where in the book, which was no help to the class. Also, she required several computer labs for the class. So my math grade was determined by computer skills?
I have never had such a difficult class. When it takes 3 & 1/2 hours to do a take home quiz thats a bit much. Gets lost in her own notes but then expects the class to understand anyway. Do not take her class unless you can teach yourself.
By far the worst math teacher I've ever had. Her lectures seem to be encrypted. Don't take the class unless your willing to put at least two hours of your time for each hour of class time, and I stress at LEAST. What Sheeny lacks in lecture she makes up for one on one. One on one she is helpful.
She has a thick accent and is hard to follow along with. You have to go over things again at home or you will get lost. If you get lost, you are in trouble. I didnt pass her class. :( And had to re-take it with someone else. And I know Im not the only one, I had friends in the same place.
she is nice but i dont think shes very good at her job. thank god i understand this math or i would be screwed. definatly wont take her class again!!!
She is doing very well and teaching very CLEAR. Her strong language is Chinese but we can understand her 2nd language English. She is AWESOME! She always help deafies and hearings student.
WOW!! She's soo WONDERFUL teacher ever I like it! :) She's easy to explain and understand what is the problem from the math's issue. Shes really good teacher!!! :) She's my pet teacher! :) YA YA!
I could hardly understand her. I love math and struggled a lot in this class. 90% of the time she writes out an essay for the question instead of the variables needed...it's more like a writing class than math.
Taking this online, so there are no lectures to explain anything and comments from prof take days (if any response at all.) It's just read the sections, do the problems. With this class we dont get grades for weeks or feedback at all to assignments. If you have q's, you're told to discuss them with other students! If you're comfortable with math and can teach yourself, you'll do fine, otherwise expect 3+ hrs a day and a lot of frustration.
I took the class online so I've never met the woman or had to listen to her lectures, but on the cover of the text, it tells you that the text is custom made for Chemeketa. It's contents are chosen by the math department for a reason and that is that it will help you grasp the concepts. It's really not that tough if you do the work.
Never take her class in less you want to be frustrated. Generally, the class has to correct her on the lectures. BAD math teacher!!!
I don't know what the person was smoking before this post, but she is one of the best math instructors there. I aced this class, and trust me there were a lot that were flunking too. If you do your work and attempt to understand what you don't then you will do fine. Apparentely, the person before this post was one of those flunkers.
She's an excellent teacher. I was able to understand Statistics better with her.
She is very hard to contact. She doesn't interact with the students-AT ALL! Of all my online teachers, she is definitely the worst about contacting students. I will not take any class from her in the future, because the math will only get harder, and I don't think she will be around to lend a helping hand.
I took the class on line and the class work was very easy. If you do acople of problems from each section u will be fine. I enjoyed the class. I would have her for a teach agan if i could.
She is no good for teaching. Can't understand her and grades very hard. Worst math teacher at this school.
A little bit disorganized, but responds to questions, and is helpful. All I can say is do the coursework, and you will have no problems in the class.
She is nice and easy to understand. She is clearly for every questions. I can understand all the thing after her explainations. Good teacher! Not too much homework. But need to prepare for the tests. Tests are not so hard if you have reviewed. The reson why you get low grade from this class is you don't study after class.
Instruction is not clear at all.Confuse everyone in class. Can't really understand what she said in class. After every class. I have to go home and watch the DVD in order to do my hw. Not recommended at all.
She is a very nice teacher. She made it very clear to me. Her tests are hard but u can pass them if u study. I am not very good at math and I didn't like all my other teachers. But this teacher is cool!!!
Spent all of class time answering homework questions then spent five minutes lecturing and still expected us to know the material!
worst class that i have ever taken 3/4 of the class is having to retake this course
She is hard to understand in class, but she makes up for it with one-on-one. She is okay overall.
Sheeny is great! She has a good sense of humor and really knows how to help people of different learning styles. :)
so, sheeny's cool, class is pretty borin, but she has a sense of humour which is good. i suck at math and i got a B, so that tells you something. she lets you retake tests if you missed one, and if u ask her to, she'll drop the lowest score you got (sometimes). and she brings donuts for finals xD
Took it online. (I had check that I took it and from her!). Could check a bit more often for student questions, but she answered them all when she did check. Made sure each and every inquiry was well-addressed and students "got it". Never thought I'd take Calculus, but Aced it so she gets most of the credit. No accents online! :)
A great teacher to learn from. You may have trouble understanding her accent sometimes, but she is a very reasonable person. If you have an A by the final, you do not have to take the final! Great person.
I took this class online. I have taken two other online math courses and had no problem, but it was like not having a teacher at all in this class! I would email her and try to contact her with questions and she did not get back to me once... It was a very frustrating term with this teacher!
Sheeny was really nice, i didnt get the grade i would have wanted but she always answered my questions and made sure i understood what she was saying.
HORRIBLE TEACHER. Or.. Actually she doesn't teach at all. She just tells. And better yet, you can barely understand her. She's not approachable at all, and won't try and work to help the students. The whole class time she looks down at the projector and never looks up to see if everyone understands. She's terrible. 1/10
She's really hard to understand. She takes too much time proving that an equation works rather than showing us how to work the equation. And there are times when she has trouble herself trying to answera homework problem she assigned to us.
horrible teacher. she doesnt explain anything. skips steps. assumes you should know everything.
Consistently late to class. Continues to lecture and only assigns homework after class has ended, so if you can't stay an extra 5 or 10 minutes you'll be at a severe disadvantage. Does not explain concepts clearly. Answers students' questions by just repeating herself and moving on. Extremely frustrating and unhelpful.
She has an accent and is hard to understand sometimes. She got confused several times and didn't always know what she was talking about. She doesn't grade the exams too harshly though. You have to be able to understand this stuff on your own or go to her during office hours.
Yes, she does have an accent but nothing that's going to cause difficulty passing this class. She was willing to meet outside of class time. Exams were fair - we always had exam review sheets and went over them. The Triola text was self explanatory although teacher had own teaching style which enhanced it. Very easy-going instructor, not rigid.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. I have never received lower than a B in a math class before, and I will honestly be suprised if I pass with a D. She teaches nothing, does not explain anything, offers no extra credit to improve your grade. I would not take another class from her if I were paid. TERRIBLE CLASS TERRIBLE TEACHER. BE WARNED!!!
The positive, she's a very likeable person and willing to help. In contrast, I don't believe that she's capable of teaching clearly in a classroom. She often makes mistakes. When lecturing, she solves problems rather than educate in the steps. The only ppl that understood all the concepts were ppl that had already taken the class elsewhere. Accent.
She doesn't reply to emails on time, she isn't clear on instructions, and there was no prep before any of the exams. I felt like I was on my own the whole term. I could not recommend her to anyone taking a comprehensive math course.
She knows her stuff but cannot teach it to others. I ended up spending hours teaching myself everything and barely got away with a B. Would never recommend anyone to take her. Vague test prep, doesn't grade homework, and very disorganized.
I somehow managed to pull an A in the class by some miracle, but it wasn't easy. Sheeny would get lost in the middle of instruction - she'd leave steps out, make mistakes that other students would point out, she'd do an entire question incorrectly then come back later and try to fix it. Wouldn't recommend for a lot of reasons.
I didn't think her accent would be a big problem for me at the beginning of the term, but I think it ended up being one. She really knows her stuff, but she has trouble actually teaching it and just ends up working through problems so fast that no one keep up. She is extremely nice and always is willing to give extensions on homework. Don't take her class unless you are just brushing up on your skills.
I took this class online. She didn't teach us anything. There was just homework, a midterm, and a final. I got 100% on all my homework assignments and studied the book even though she told us we didn't need it. I failed both tests because none of the questions on the test were in the homework or book. I don't even know where they came from.
I took her online class and thought she was a good instructor. All of the work is self-motivated. I did the assignments, posts, mid-term and final and did good despite the fact that Math is not one of my strengths. I would recommend her if you have what it takes to do the work.
I was a straight-A math student until this class. And this is NOT one of those sore-looser-student-gives-bad-rating things. Absolutely no extra credit, poor preparation for tests, and unhelpful lectures. Do yourself a favor and don't take it.
If this is your first math class in a long time, do NOT take it with Ms. Behmard. Although she grades VERY generously on a curve, there was no teaching involved. It was practically self study. The online module is not forgiving, as math problems on the computer take longer than by hand. I suggest taking it in her ACTUAL classroom.
I normally don't write reviews but Behmard was the worst teacher I've ever had, math or otherwise. She was confusing, rude, inconsistent and useless. More than half of my class failed. I and countless other students complained to the dean of the math dept. I was foolish and ignored the reviews of other students..DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Prior to attending college, the best grade I ever received in math was B minus, if that. Being an online course you basically did all the work independetly as much as you wanted. Not the best teacher, but if you work well independetly you shouldn't have too much trouble passing the class. I did not find her very helpful but she wasn't terrible
Basically just an online class. Do homework and write in discussions. The catch - she never told us what to do besides the syllabus - around 40 kids just got lower grade because they never knew they had to write in discussion section. Uses WEBASSIGN, which is 10 times worse than Mathlab. Most of the time messes up some of the computer related stuff
Great professor, really put things into prospective and is probably one of the best professors in the math department.
This teacher makes mistakes. OFTEN she will choose the wrong problem, or start doing part of one problem then mix it with another. She does this at least 5-8 times per one hour period. She takes 2 weeks to grade tests, and never replies to emails. She is unorganized, and forgetful people have to go get her from her other class. reporting to dean!!
If you enjoy teaching yourself math with the help of an online video this is for you. Otherwise she will not be teaching you any math. She does assist you if help is needed but she does not teach math well at all.
Final is optional. If your test ave. is 90 or better, you don't have to take the final. A lot was covered at the end. She was rushing towards end of the term.
Sheeny was a joy to be around, and was always helpful during her office hours. She was very easy to talk to. Her class was set up in a way that was heavily focused on home work, which is beneficial for students, like myself, who struggle with testing but whom are far more intelligent than their test scores depict.
Really liked her. Very nice. Shows multiple ways to do problems, which is helpful since many have learned to do math in different ways. Gives credit for attempting problems.
This was the last class I needed in order to graduate and it was pretty difficult especially because I took it online. She is strict with due dates but there is only one assignment a week. If you don't do homework, you won't understand the test. I failed the first assignment and test but improved over the term and she must have seen my effort.
One of the worst math professors I ever had. Doesn't teach. You were supposed to use an online video and do the work online. All we did in class was talk about the lecture. She'd often get her own questions wrong too. Very unclear as far as her lectures and expectations. I dropped the class almost right after I signed up.
I just finished math 244 online with Sheeny. She was supportive and available. This is a tough class no matter who it's with. I loved the fact that we used mymathlab. If you keep up on your homework and study you will be ok. There is no babysitting here and it's all up to you. Make sure and thoroughly go through mymathlab and ask questiions.
There were so many times where mistakes were made by her, even when clearly using the notes of another professor, that took up an entire class to fix where no one learned anything. Then at the end we rushed through the last 13 of the material and learned even less. She's a very nice person, but she can't teach. Stay away if you can.
She would either choose a problem that she hadn't taught the material for or would simply mess up one or more steps. Most of the class was spent answering questions about the homework while only about 30 min are spent on new material. Curve gave me a C at 56%. Retaking with a different teacher.
I suck at Math, but managed to get an A in this class. She had us use Web Assign which was really easy to navigate. I recommend copying the hw problems down word for word with clear steps for notes. The quizzes are almost identical problems. One hw assignment per week isn't bad either. She isn't timely about e-mailing you back, my only complaint.
She's definitely a good teacher, but can be sporadic and difficult to understand at times. There are portions of the class where you're better off just reading the textbook, because she doesn't cover everything thoroughly in class. She reduces the amount of online homework, which is nice. Overall, she's very friendly, just over-worked.
The class was okay. The teacher was somewhat helpful when it came to her lectures.
This teacher is probably the least thoughtful or helpful teacher I have ever had. She was very disengaged, left us to ourselves in this joke of an online class. She may as well have not been there at all, ask her a question she won't respond, I usually ace classes, but this one was not a class, but an online work gauntlet with no teacher presence.
It was fine. I'm glad I took it online rather than going to class four days a week.
Sheeny was a delight! I usually struggle in math but I got an "A" in her class and didn't have to kill myself to get it. She is great at explaining the material and does her best to make sure you excel in the class. She is also the nicest person ever. Her class was thoroughly enjoyable.
No information in the syllabus and info given is unclear. Easy to pass but I don't recommend this teacher. She hasn't made any effort to contact the students. I didn't even know she was a she till I read these reviews.
She seems to know what she's teaching about but is not good at teaching it. She messes up on her notes constantly and makes learning really difficult
I hated this teacher probably more than any teacher before. She is a scatter brain and messes up her lectures and mixes everything up while shes teaching which makes it very hard to learn from. I'm no wiz when it comes to math so her teaching the way she did made it so much harder.
Sheeny is hard to get used to at first. Her lectures can sometimes be confusing, and she messes up sometimes, but if you go to her outside of class and sit down and discuss what you learned in class she's extremely helpful. Her tests are straight forward and her homework prepares you for the exams. Be ready for a challenge with Sheeny.
Sheeny shows up to class unprepared and confused. She has to look through the chapter of the book in order to tell you what she is teaching that day. You have to watch her struggle through the math and make huge mistakes. Going back to fix her constant errors causes me a great deal of confusion. I stopped coming to class and taught myself.
I liked her class. When I was stuck she emailed me right away. I found it easy to understand.
Sheeny is awesome. Very straight forward with math and not adding the extra unnecessary things. I feel bad for her cause so many people whine about "why do we need this?" Helps no one and disrupts class. She tells you up front, if you know a section, you don't have to come too. Always willing to help when you have questions.
Sheeny's lectures are fairly useless. She can't even lecture from the book and it doesn't seem like she clearly understands the material. She did not respond to any of my emails asking for more information. She actively lied about the format of tests. Due to her pacing, by the time you realize you can't learn the material, it's too late to drop.
Sheeny is by far the worst math professor that I've encountered at Chemeketa. I was a straight A student and Sheeny gave me my first B. A formal study guide wasn't given for 2 out of our 3 exams including our final. She is extremely confusing and don't have a clear grading criteria. Avoid if possible.
Would not take another math class from this instructor. All homework/tests online does not answer questions online citing she will cover material in class but does not answer you question in class either. Better off taking online course from different instructor. Does not review for tests except for final exam which is pen and paper exam.
She is a great teacher. She makes what she is teaching clear, is great about answering your questions. She does expect you to do your part with understanding. I wish I could have her again for my Math 95. She does give out homework, just enough to help you learn outside of class. I would highly recommend her.
She teaches right out of the book so not very helpful. You can self teach using the online system to get the same thing.
He doesnt make anything clear. My whole online class has to keep asking and reminding him to give us answers about how the final will go and what we can use. I've never been so confused in an online class before.
I took her in-person class and found that while she is a nice teacher who is willing to help students with work (and be somewhat flexible when deadlines are missed), there are a couple big issues with the class. She doesn't grade on Blackboard or until the final exam is taken. The class is also unclear and unstructured.
Simple: do the work, don't procrastinate, study for the final, bring a page of notes, get a good grade.
This was a completely online class, no instruction was given for the course material at all. No communication came from the professor until I reached out myself, when I said this she said I was wrong. Professor gave contradicting deadlines for exams in emails vs. announcements.
Wow Sheeny is the worst instructor I have ever experienced. Chemeketa should fire her. She is constantly confused during lectures.
Sheeny teaches on Zoom and records her lecture for people couldn't come to class. Homework are online but tests are on paper. If you come to class and do homework and test reviews, you will do well on the tests and pass the class with top grade.
Sheeny is a nice professor, But it is a online class and no class on Zoom, so you have to self learn. She does have office hours on Zoom.
Too much stuff to study for. Not all of it is related to the quizzes/exams. Please only quiz/test us on the stuff that will be on the quiz/tests in all forms. Also clearly explain what formulas we should use to get the correct answer. I had a problem that could go to 2 different levels of accuracy using different formulas and was marked wrong.
Be prepared to do mental gymnastics, teacher misses so many points/gives incorrect information that will make your notes look like you played sudoku due to how many times you had to erase. Always call out mistakes on your grade as soon as possible. Be aware that this class is not suppose to be self taught but will end up that way.
The zoom class I took was difficult to follow along with, but if you do my open math assignments the quizzes shouldn't be too hard. Have to be able to teach yourself a lot, but while doing open math there is lots of explanatory videos. Nice person but recommend trying for a different professor.
Sheeny, The S stands for *hit and she does not appear to be all there in my opinion. Take the class fron another instructor.
She was difficult to understand and didn't always know what she was teaching. She worked through some problems and could not figure out how to get the correct answer. Taught us an entire lesson and the next class meeting she told us it was wrong. Graded on very few things. Learned more from OpenMath than her.
Her as a person is not bad however, she went super fast and would single out students who were doing poorer than others.
Not great at communication, just provides the free online textbook, included lectures and homework that does not have answers. Homework is due every few weeks or so, so unless you catch her during zoom office hours, you don't really know how you are doing in the class in order to pass the quizzes. Would not recommend if you are not strong in math.
Sheeny is super kind. She is also funny. You need to come to her class because she goes fast but if you ask her questions she will slow down and explains until you understand.
The online course is a joke. Sheeny didn't teach us ANYTHING, & I mean anything! I learned from YouTube. She never answered our emails, or ANY of our questions, unless we emailed the Director of the math dept and then she was rude and belittling. Questions on the final were from chapters we never reviewed. She left out vital info on the syllabus.
Sheeny.......one word awful!!!!!! She is nasty and disrespectful to the students. Stay away, there are other Math Instructors at CCC.
This year we had to use her prototype of a book the fact that it was confusing due to the incorrect information in the book. no proper feedback on Hw, tests not the same as what we learned in class. her teaching was all over the place. not sure why she is still allowed to teach the fact that I'm using YouTube to teach myself is crazy.
Sheeny really tried to do her best. The book has lot of errors but it is free. Can't complain.
Sheeny is the worst instructor ever, maybe on the planet. Makes mistakes and confuses herself and the class.
How many different languages can I say "NO GOOD"!!! Scatter brain instructor, gets confused and can not teach the subject.
Sheeny is always willing to help outside class. She is very helpful if you go to her office hours. She explains well and is a patient instructor.
She is awful at explaining and she wrote the textbook you need to have yet doesn't even know the answers. Students checked the answers in the back of the book and she would say it isn't necessarily right or wrong and then start talking about something totally different. DO NOT TAKE.
Do not take this class. The professor made the book, and it makes no sense. They don't explain how they get to certain answers in the examples. They also flip-flop back and forth from using the TI84 and the R function so you don't actually know what method they are using. The homework also doesn't match the tests. DO NOT TAKE!!!!
DONT take this professor. 1st time I ever come on here and rate someone. She is absolutely unprofessional and unprepared. I had a urgent surgery on midterm and she said “can you come after surgery to take the exam” after explaining very clearly I can't that I am having a serious facial surgery. Sums her up as a person.
The class can be challenging, but going to office hours and using resources like unstuckstudy helps a lot. The professor tries, but the material can be confusing at times.
Do not take! The lectures are super unorganized. She makes lots of mistakes and gets confused; students are always correcting her.The tests are nothing like what is on the homework. The text book does not show the answers so you don't have a way of knowing if you are solving the problems correctly. Overall she is a nice person but horrible professor
Y'all. I want to start this review off in a positive way. Sheeny is a super nice lady and she tells good stories. That being said. I am sorry for anyone who has no other option than to take her. She constantly gets confused when giving a lecture, her textbook (that she wrote) had many typos in it, she was constantly getting corrected by students.
She was horrible. DO NOT TAKE. Couldn't understand what she was saying. Felt like she was saying stuff backwards. sheeny was not it. Explained horribly.
Would not recommend sheeny. She is extremely hard to understand and finds a way to explain everything confusing. Would not recommend to anyone.
I had to teach myself everything. She has a textbook, but it has numerous errors, some problems in the book don't make sense/have missing solutions. Working through problems on the board, expecting you to understand. If not, she blames you for not putting enough effort into the class. Also, the homework isn't applied to her tests.
Wow.....one of the worst instructors on the planet, worse than Herbert from the Physics department. If Herbert was a car, it would be a Yugo that my folks has when I was young. Sheeny just screeches in class and gets confused following a book.
OMG, the worst on any campus.....stay away take from anyone else.
Worst professor DO NOT TAKE!!! had to learn everything by myself, couldn't understand her much, and when it came to the textbook we used( she wrote the textbook) so many errors in it. She also didn't know how to solve some of the questions that were on the homework would not recommend at all. STAY AWAY.
Basically as an online courses she said here's the text book good luck. The text book doesn't make sense, and im pretty good at math. She did offer times to help buti took it online because none of the inperson classes work with my schedule I work at a school so zero flexibility. DO NOT take stats with this teacher!
This class only meets on Saturday. It is important to come to Sheeny's class. She occasionally record her lecture and posted it in Zoom which was nice for some who missed the class. But I wish she recorded all her lectures. Sheeny cared a lot about her students. She is a good teacher.
