She's an excellent teacher. She outlines the chapters in the books for you as a study guide and tests directly out of them. She's very clear and easy to understand; always willing to help and answer any questions. She always demonstrates what she wants you to do before you do the lab. GREAT CLASS

Hammon is the chem teacher to take. She is clear, organized, and makes chemistry fun. Test questions come from her study guides. Lots of assignments given so you can improve your grades. Chemistry, itself, is not easy. It requires lots of studying and lots of preparation for class. Choose an easier science unless you specifically need chemistry.

She was an amazing teacher that was very helpful in every way. Always gave us our own set of notes that we went over in class in detail. I thought Chemistry would be hard, but she made it fun and interesting. Labs were pretty cool also with the testing of reactions with chemicals. Study, read, take notes, do practice problems and you'll do well.

Though chemistry in itself is a difficult subject, she is a great teacher. The workshops really help out, and almost all the test questions come from the easy to read and understand handout notes. She goes over these notes in detail in lecture and walks you through calculations you need for the tests. Excellent teaching style. Highly recommended!

She is nice but from what I observed, she doesn't like to answer questions a lot. This is a hard class but she makes it easier by providing you with outlines of every chapter. The tests follow these outlines 100%. Just be sure you dont slack off in this class during the semester.

i have mixed feelings about her. although she is a nice lady, she is a very picky grader! the good thing is that her quizzes follow the outline she gives. tests are kinda tricky. hw is for your benefit.

She makes chemistry easy but her tests are very tricky. If you want a guaranteed A take someone else. For her tests study the book, her outline and lectures because she likes to make sure you were paying attention in class. Her quizzes are easy just study the outlines.

i took her for chem51 for my nursing prereq's but ended up taking chem60 also for fun! she couldn't make the subject any easier to learn. she actually made me enjoy the subject. she outlines every chapter & teaches from her outline with plenty of examples to help you grasp the concepts. just pay attention and do the assignments and you'll be fine.

she was a good teacher but she bases most of your grade on the tests which are 4 if you mess up on those tests your grade drops dramatically. she likes to have 2 very similar answers to throw you off so be carefull. I personally found her class hard but I did enjoy her labs very educational.

Good professor, all you need are her print out class notes. She is very clear and easy to understand. Most people pass her class unless they dont come to school at all. Great Teacher would love to take again.

Had a great time with this teacher. She involves the students while teaching and handed out pre-typed lecture notes so you know what is being covered. Also gives out small prizes sometimes(candy, periodic tables). Very fun, and a lot of students got caught up being competitive about the subject. Can also recognize the famous student blank look.

She is literally my favorite teacher. She explains everything and she is willing to help you anytime. She gives you your test grade and your class grade right after each test. Everybody should definitely take her.

Awesome teacher! Attend class and you'll do well. Does not have multiple choice tests, so study. Do the homework she assigns on owl and it will help. Material isn't easy but if you need help, you can always ask.

I was terrified of chemistry prior to taking this class but professor Hammon changed that conception that I had about chemistry. She's organized and easy to follow. Her notes and lectures are very helpful. Tests are hard, you will definitely need to study, attend class and do homework in order to pass the tests. Overall I highly recommend her!!

this woman is heaven sent. she is so smart, knows the subject well. explains it step by step and will repeat things if u ask. simple test and quizzes. lectures are understandable and given notes are very clear. definitely take her and youll thank me later!

She makes the subject as painless as possible. I was anxious about chem before the semester and her class wasn't terribly hard. Though the math for chemestry book is not required for the course, I highly recommend it since the majority of chem51 is math based.

I highly recommend u taking chem51 with this professor shes really good with lecture I mean she explains very well & she's very helpful. You can buy her study guide notes from student store its much easier to understand than the book. Use her study guide notes for exams & u dont really need to read the book I passed the class with an A. Lab was fun

Great professor! Study her lecture notes and read the chapters in the book before exams. Her workshops and quizzes are pretty similar to exams. Goes at a comfortable pace and super helpful during labs.

Chem 51 is an easy course, but Prof. Hammon makes it even easier. Every class , she would provide you with a review quiz. It may sound like a hassle at first, but it's very beneficial as it motivates you to study the material prior to each class. She is nitpicky for some of her answers, but don't let that deter you. Highly recommend her.

I took this teacher for chem 51 and I would take her again. Gives a quiz everyday in the first five minutes of class so show up or your grade will drop. She tries to make the class as interesting as possible. If you do the work and study like she says you will pass

Chem 51 with her is fun & easy. She's a nice teacher. She gives a small quiz in 1st few mins of class so show up on time. She also gives weekly quizzes during lab. Sounds like alot of work but it forces you to keep up with the material which is beneficial. She doesn't offer too much EC. Homework is done online. Haven't used textbook once.

Honestly, hands down the best science professor I have ever had. I took her Monday Wednesday for lecture and Thursday for Lab at 8am and she made the class easy and fun. You do have quizzes every morning so you can't be late. She simplifies chemistry for you in the most efficient way. Please take her, she's awesome.

She was the best lab instructor, wish every Professor were like her. Super caring and offers extra time to those who need it and doesn't rush you to get things done. She has a brief walk through of what is going to go on during every lab meeting. Always look at the board, because it has all the stuff you need to know as in due dates and etc.

I had taken her class Spring 2017 and she was also my lab prof for chem 101. I had a lot of fun in her class, it was pretty easy, and her lecture notes help a lot. She's very approachable so don't be scared to take her as long as you're willing to put in the work for it.

If you are afraid of Chemistry Professor Hammon is the one for you, she holds your hand all the way. The Quiz are super easy(2pt) Lab is hard but she is approachable so don't be afraid to ask however make sure to read before you go in so you don't feel lost. Professor Hammon is tough but caring. I took this class during summer on a 5 week course. Personally, the only reason I had a hard time with this class is because it involves critical thinking math (lots of word problems) which I am terrible at. Other than that, professor Hammon is clear and she does care that her students pass her class.

I took this professor because she had 100 % NEVER thought she was so though. CHEM 51 should not be this difficult. She makes her test hard even with u doing the homework & understanding the material you still not get the correct answers. Im in Physio now & looking back there was no reason for her to make class hard. Nice lady but extremely hard

Extremely easy 2 pt quizzes at the beginning of each class. Lecture hand outs are fill in the blank, very interactive. She gives songs and rhymes to help you remember formulas. She tells you exactly what will be on the test during lecture. Labs are long but fun and there is a quiz immediately after so all your info is fresh in your mind.

Took her for lab chem 60 and 101 shes the best. Each time she takes 20-30 minutes of the lab time and explains clearly what we will be doing. She cares about her students and their grades.

Homework is online, due every Sunday. Attendance 2 pt quizzes at the beginning of every class, but easy. Workshops and quizzes in lab help A LOT! She doesn't provide a study guide since she has lecture notes, which are easy to read and filled with need-to-know info. Tests require you to study, duh! She offers candies as prizes sometimes. :-)

Prof. Hammon is AMAZING! She is clear in what she asks of you as a student, but your grade is based off of your tests. There are 4 exams and a final. If you study the material she gives you, success is guaranteed. Also she does give some extra credit and drops one of the quiz grades. There are review quizzes at the start of class. 2 points each.

Lecture has all the information you will need for the exam, pay attention to the little things. HW gives good practice. switched to online for CoVID, But the switch did not change her class much, she does online lectures now all PowerPoint based, nice and clean lab guide vids. don't glance over test questions, look for small things. She took a poll at the beginning of classes to gauge what majors were currently in class, so she knows that its important people understand the fundamentals. the class is well structured and shes really helpful in labs, she was really detail oriented which is important especially if you're going into healthcare.

She's fantastic! This was my first class after 15 years out of a classroom. I was so nervous but I couldn't have asked for a better professor. She is kind and you feel like she cares about how each of her students does. That being said you have to do the work. You have to study. The homework she gives is incredibly helpful. Does a lot of review and practice inside of class time instead of just solely lecturing. If you do the homework and participate during the reviews and practice worksheets, you will most likely pass the tests without much studying needed. I took a summer class so it was fast paced but she made the content manageable and easy to follow

I have never felt the need to rate a professor until now. She is one of the most understanding professors I have ever had. I was always afraid of asking questions in class, so I never did but I felt I could ask her for help if I ever needed it. She makes the material easy to understand. Going to class is crucial to understand the concepts that she teaches but I missed 2 lectures and still managed to understand the concepts. Amazing professor and is very straight forward. She did give 1-3 assignments per week but it does help you review for the quizzes we had every week but is really easy if you understand it. Study and pass!!

Prof. Hammon is a Great professor, I got a C+, but I don't blame her; I never took chemistry before, but with her, I learned a lot, she took the time and patience to make me understand the material, she does group Labs, but at the end, if you don't get she helps you a lot, do not be discourage for my grade she will help you to succeed

I took shelia for the summer 5 week class overall nice understanding teacher.I read a review about her prior to taking the class saying her exams had a lot of tricky questions and it was true her exams have random question from her lecture that she mention once for a second. The best professor I've had at Pierce. Her lecture style is amazing, where she walks you through problems and explains concepts in very simple terms, and builds from there. You have to put in the work to get a good grade, but assignments are designed to help you understand the material and she provides study guides. The only con is the 8 am lecture

Love her. Sit up front, Ask questions, get curious, take quizzes, workshops, online homework, and assessments seriously. Get help right away if you don't get it. Go to her office hour. Don't give up. I started with low grades in the beginning, but she encouraged me. I started getting B's, but got C because I didn't know how to study at first.

I took this class summer 2025. Hard in the beginning; she is a very tough grader which is a little discouraging. BUT once you figure out how she grades, it's very straightforward and easy. She is *incredibly* organized, grades quickly, and easy to follow. If you passed HS chem, should be a breeze. Buy her notes from the bookstore. She's good :)
