Professor Sanders is a really really nice lady who tries to give her students help but does a bad job on it. Her tests are hard because she doesn't explain the terms too well and rushes through the slides. By the time you write down one letter she is already onto the 3 slides. She ends class really early, within 30 minutes of a lecture.
Had to retake chem and she's far superior to any chem professor on this campus. she knocks off useless aleks topics, drops the lowest quiz and test and does a great job of explaining things. If you find her hard then you're in for trouble when you take someone else (I took Binyovavive (sp) my first time and she's terrible)
She is a caring professor and is very willing to compromise, just goes too fast in her lectures. Also, makes quite a few mistakes on tests, but it 1usually works out for everyone.
She's really nice, yes, and she does make class interesting, but she often rushes through the slides. She expects you to bring your textbook, so be sure you do that. Tests tend to be hard because she spends about ten - twenty min teaching, thirty on peer mentor experiments, and the remaining on classwork that counts for participation.
This class its self is pretty hard due to aleks being 30% of your grade. Professor sanders stays safer class and welcomes office hours to help you. She curves and will sit with you to explain something if you ask. do aleks and do ok on the test you will pass for sure.
its an easy class but you really have to try, i aint try that much but still passed but she dont really teach so you gotta teach yourself which drives you crazy. you go to class for two minutes and then youre dismissed. experiments take up most of the time and you still dont learn
To succeed in this class you're going to have to rely on yourself, otherwise you're gonna hate it. She's very nice and caring, but she's a bit unorganized and her lectures are very fast. She skims through the slides, which means she expects you to know the material. 4 tests, 4 quizzes, and aleks. Although Aleks is a pain, I found it quite useful.
She's a really great professor, who cares for her students. THe class itself is pretty hard so you have to study, but she curves and is easy to approach. The only problem is that she goes through the slides really quick and you don't have much time to take notes. But overall really great professor, would suggest taking her class.
Don't take this class if you're lazy and procrastinate because you have to teach your self the material. Also she curves your grade which is good but you still don't learn much from her. Only passed the final, did the hw, classwork, recitation counts too.
LOVE HER SHE CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS AND IS SO LENIENT
this professor deserves a 5.0! Had to retake chem before her and because of her I understand things in chem I never thought id be able to. she takes it nice and slow and answers any questions, does reviews, all that. TAKE HER
She is a very nice and caring person, she really wants you to pass. HOWEVER she is not a good teacher and her lectures often get confusing. I still recommend taking her because there is a lot of extra credit available, plus the other professors suck. You need to teach yourself most topics and go to the peer mentors for help with passing the tests.
Out of all the professors that teach this course, she was the better option. She's very approachable and answers your questions when you need help. However. her lectures really don't help you as much and most of the time you are self-learning. She rushes through lectures and exams are moderately difficult to the review packets she hands out.
Dr. Sanders is your best bet for taking Chemistry at Queens College. Do not depend on her lectures to learn anything. You need to teach it to yourself. Do ALL of the practice problems in the back of the textbook (Get chegg help-all the answers step by step are there). Those problems appear on the tests. Do not depend on her study guides. Study!!!!!
This is PART TWO. You need to go the peer mentors for help. They saved me from failing this class. My three test scores were 53, 73, and 65. She drops one test. we got extra credit from doing some problems which boosted a test score by 10 points. I got really lucky and ended the course with a B+. I think i did good on the final but Idk the score.
idk why anyone would get less than a B in her class. Shes the only professor that does not depend on ALEKS too much because she understands it can be stressful. Instead, she gives a lot of extra credit in class assignments as well as on CONNECT. do her homeworks, study similar problems from the in class assignments and you should be fine. the best!
Dr. Sanders is a dream come through, grading wise. You could damn near fail each and every test and you'll still pass with at least a C+. She isn't the absolute best when it comes to lecture, though. I mostly relied on my prior history of chem in HS as well as ALEKS & Connect. She offers extra credit by just signing your name on the attendance!!!
Run. Run. Run. Easy A but youll slowly die as he continues lecturing about random topics for at least 2 hours. Third hour of class of when you actually do the lab (max 40 min) and last 20 min is for quiz
Shes very kind and amazing. Lectures are sometimes 20-30 min long. Rest of the class is working on in class assignments and questions. Tests are fair and alike the sample exams she provides you with. You have to teach yourself everything
Too many people at QC dont put effort in to their classes and blame the professor when they get a poor grade. They assign a textbook for a reason. Yeah she may not be the best at lecturing but she actually cares so if you do have additional questions you can go to her but her tests are fair not impossible.
This is the best Chem professor you will ever see at Queens College. she really cares about every student and wants everyone to do well.
Go to lecture and do the homework. Even if you dont do well on all the exams, you can still do well in the class. Shes the sweetest and wants students to do well.
I learnt NOTHING from this class. She does not know how to teach. It is an easy class to get a good grade if you study her practice tests. Definitely take if you only need one level chemistry. If you need to do any higher chemistry you will not be prepared from this class. Do ALL the online HW even if they are super annoying.
113 & 114 Best professor ever. She explains well during lecture and is very accessible outside of class. Genuinely cares about her students and doesn't want anyone to get left behind. If you don't pass with Dr. Sanders Idk if Chemistry is right for you. People forget that chemistry isn't the easiest and expect A's. Put in effort and you'll pass.
Taking this class for general requirement. Biggest mistake I made ever. ONLY TAKE CHEMISTRY IF YOU WANT TO MAJOR IN IT. Lots of hw, in-class assignments, exams. Chemistry 113.1 is made up of 3 component classes that you have to take together (Lecture, Lab, Recitation) each with different professors who assign their own tests, hws and reports.
Only take this class if you want to major in Chemistry... Requires lots of time and effort to do the lengthy hws and to study for the lecture class and the recitation class. Also, you need time to type up the weekly lab reports for the lab class. FYI: CHEM 113 (General Chemistry 1) is made up of a lecture class, recitation class and lab class.
"only take this if you want to major in chemistry" are you kidding. most of us need this for our science majors anyway and sanders is the absolute best. if you struggle with her I don't know what to tell you!! do the work and you'll get the grade you want.
If you don't do so well on the tests but do all of the online hw, come to class and recitation (attendance counts) you will pass the class. however you may not learn a lot in this class and there's a good chance you won't be prepared for chem 2 from this class.
Professor Sanders is the absolute BEST person in the chemistry department!! She is the reason why I did well in Chem 113 and 114!! I wish she taught more classes! She genuinely wants students to learn, understand and pass her class! She gives a lot of practice questions and is always willing to help! Connect and aleks are also helpful extra credit!
chemistry lectures are hard, dr sanders does her best to teach but it is hard lecture style. get ready to teach yourself EVERYTHING. Dr sanders has office hours which are helpful and she drops the lowest test. Tests are ALL MC and she curves. Put in tons of effort and you can get an A- hard work pays off
Dr. Sanders is your best option for any Chem class at QC! Her exams are extremely straightforward and she is really caring. There are 3 exams and she drops the lowest grade. There are also connect hwks that are mostly just graded on whether or not you complete it. However, her lectures were very confusing and difficult to follow.
Chem is a hard class. She is one of the better teachers at QC would highly recommend her
Dr. Sanders is best option for chemistry at Queens. She drops the lowest of the 3 in-class exams, curves, and provides a ton of extra credit. Don't expect to learn much in lecture so teach yourself the material (I recommended online videos). Complete Learnsmart and CONNECT (has answers). Overall, she's super caring and passes u with at least a C+
She will not prepare you for chem 114 whatsoever. if you just need to take 113 you will be fine with her, do all of the homework to pass. but if you need to take 114 as well do not rely on her to prepare you. you will have to teach yourself everything. none of the other professors are as lenient as her.
Honestly queens is known for its bad science dept at times but I feel like shes very caring and tries. Its just a lot on her and students sometimes. Great lab professor though. Can improve in lecture by being organized and clear. She will pass you if you try your best. Dont give up. Caring woman.
Not the best of professors, but science professors that are good are hard to come by. Could have been more clear when lecturing, her in class assignments could be harder than the examples. Her tests were not the greatest either, maybe a clearer review sheet would be good. Extremely caring though, really wants you to learn. Try other study sources.
Dr. Sanders is a great professor shes very sweet and down to earth. I agree her lecturing style can improve, but chem is tough. The truth is you must work hard, and maybe this class is difficult but I agree that she does pave the way for other chem classes. She looks for effort , so show up she notices! Use the textbook, and show interest.
love her so easy
She is such a kind and intelligent person and always wiling to help her students. She drops the lowest exam grade and often curves depending on the classes performance. Her lectures can be bit disorganized but she gives you everything you need to succeed and more if you are willing to work hard. Do all of the practice questions and you'll do well.
She tries her best and is caring but only take her if your other options are bad. Her lecture style is not the best so I don't recommend her to people who cannot teach themselves material because she will not AT ALL teach anything. Her exams are MC always and super easy but only if you taught urself the material first!
Best professor ever! Take her, you won't regret it. She is the most caring professor ever. Love her!!! Would definitely take her again.
She is the best professor at qc, hands down! So if you ever get a chance to take her, PLEASE do so. You will thank me later
Easiest general chem prof at QC because she's not out to ruin your GPA. Complete all assignments and just hand in what you have. She wants effort and cares about her students. Still, her teaching method doesn't work so well, so I relied on the textbook. Tests are MC! Do the review sheets, they're very helpful. THE GOAT!
She is an absolute angel and will try to pass you no matter what. It is nearly impossible to fail her class. She looks at effort and bases your grade off more than just tests. Her teaching methods can be improved but her practice tests are helpful and she gives you all the materials succeed in the class. As long as you put in work you can do well.
I had Dr. Sanders for both chem 113 and chem 114. she is the best option for chemistry at QC. Although she is not the best lecturer, she cares for her students and will try her best to make sure her students succeed. The key to doing well is to make sure to do the in class assignments, the homework and prepare for the exams using her sample tests.
Amazing, nice professor! Doesnt really teach but creates good slides for you to teach yourself. 2 exams and a final that you should get an A if you read the slides and do examples. 2 homework platforms - Connect homework is easy but Aleks is terrible so be prepared to do homework all the time in addition to practice. Studying and exams arent hard
Shes nice but thats about it. I respect her for having her degrees and being a professor but thats all. If you really think you know chemistry take a professor besides her, she curves grades and inflates them. So not always will you get a solid understanding of what youre doing. Exams are practically off her review. So easy but not helpful.
What the other reviewer said is true, other chem professors are hard and really do push you to see if you understand chemistry. Shes very nice and willing she understands chemistry is not everyones thing. But, if you think youre prepared for other chem classes youre wrong.
amazing professor! She climbs on top of the desk and jumps on you in the middle of class. It was really fun. I also really enjoyed the tap dancing lessons we were taught. Super stoked to take her again next semester for hip hop dancing!
Waste of my damn time, didnt even learn lewis structures or how to do anything properly. She be confused and I be confused, everyone be confused.
LOVE HER! She is one of the best professors at Queens College. I wish she taught more classes. Her class may be boring at times but her exams are very straight forward and she provides review sheets that are complimentary to the test.
She is really nice but if you want to learn chemistry take another Professor. She also falls back a lot. You know you may be lost in her class when you go to higher levels with professors who arent as lenient. Her heart is in the right place to help students though. But you will not be prepared for the future of chem classes, sorry guys.
I would take her again for any chem course. She's probably your best professor here at QC for gen chem! I never met such a caring professor because she really does all that she can to make everyone pass. Just put enough effort and she will do the same. Actually put in work, don't complain because you were slacking.
Prof Sanders is AMAZING, she's super lenient. TAKE ADVANTAGE of office hours to ask for anything you don't understand, explains it really well. SWEET, CONSISTENT,&PATIENT prof. ONE OF THE BEST CHEM PROF IN QC. Complete all assignments&worksheet, they're great practice. EXAMS are just like worksheets. LOVE HER!
Prof Sanders is Marvelous, she's super easy to understand. ONE OF THE BEST CHEM PROF IN QC. Complete all assignments&worksheet, they're great practice. EXAMS are just like worksheets. LOVE HER! UTILIZE ALL THE HELP & DON'T SLACK ON THE COURSE. She's an easy A if you work the work! CHEM2 is hard, a lot of formulas, don't underestimate the course!
This was my first chem class in years at QC, I took her one semester ago. She is super kind and always willing to help, I agree her class does not prepare you for the next levels. However, as a freshman she guided me, and I appreciate her for that. I started to see what I needed to study for chemistry and where I could improve
She is very understanding and wants her students to succeed. But the class was asych so most of us taught ourselves the material. The class was hard, and the recitation teachers tried their best to explain a lot of the topics. You probably wont be prepared for other chem classes, so if chem 113 is the only chem class you need, you should be fine.
Professor Sanders is a sweet professor and was always willing to explain any questions as much time as needed. The answers for the test were posted much later after the test, which made it hard to figure out which questions I got wrong. Most of the class being asynchronous gave the most trouble with lecture recordings being hard to follow.
This professor didn't contain live lectures which made it a little difficult in the beginning. I had to teach myself most of the material, but it was worth it for the class. She was very reachable by email and wants her students to do well. Overall, she was so nice and graded everything with a curve. I recommend her.
Her classes were asynchronous so it required alot of self study which worked out perfectly for me personally. She provided powerpoint slides with audio recordings which were very helpful. Assignments were challenging but with proper time management it was doable. I would take her classes again!
Not the best lecturer but alright, reads off of powerpoint slide. Uses ALEKS and Connect. Actually one of the nicest professor, responds to email, curves, extends due dates, provides sample questions to practic. Chemistry itself is difficult to study but Sanders tries her best. 3 exams, 1 final. Take Sanders if you want to keep or improve your GPA.
I seriously cannot stand most of the stuck up chem professors at QC. Most will talk to you like youre an animal. Sanders is by far the kindest professor there and a pillar of light. She represents diversity and honest to god real care. She may have issues teaching here and there but shes a gift. QCs chem dept is full of pigs, woman is an angel.
Not the best lecturer, but curves grades and provides ALEKS extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. You have to self teach yourself the material the entire semester, good luck.
She's mid. she quickly reads off the slides, gives a couple practice problems on what was "taught" that class, and calls it a day. attendance is mandated since she made us sign our names every class. her second exam was not like the review sheet at all and neither was the final. she is nice and not stuck up like other chemistry professors at queens
She is nice but her exams are nothing like the review sheets she gives. Way more difficult and the averages for the exams were really low as well
Consider taking different professor if you can. She teaches for 15-30 minutes and rest of the lecture is doing in-class assignment. SO BE READY TO READ BY YOURSELF
I normally never write reviews, but she is one of the kindest science profs in qc. Wants everyone to succeed and just move on. Not the best lecturer so you really have to teach yourself but she is always available if you don't understand something. She will explain things to you several times in a row until you understand w/o making you feel stupid
Don't get fooled, Sanders is really really nice, but it still is incredibly hard, especially for chem 2. Tests feel easy but really aren't, and self-study is the only way one can do well. Do all the in-class work, she curves heavy and make sure you have some kind of improvement on tests. Got an A with around an 85 test average (and a lot of stress)
took her for 101 and 102. her lectures are fine - mostly reading off the ppt. BUT still go to lec and rec because she will curve your grade based on attendance. DO THE ALEKS. she's really nice, but the best way to do well in this class is to do practice questions. chemistry is hard whether or not you take it with Sanders - do your work.
If you had to lisen to one review let it be this one as someone whos repeat Chem a few times with diffferent professors no one compares to sanders its a gurantee pass and she curves like crazy ofc the only complaint is you have to self teach but comparing her to the other chem professors it should be an essay A show up do the work And ALEKS DO IT
You wouldn't like this class if you are good at self-studying. She's nice and will answer your questions. Her lectures aren't the best (reads off slides). we do the worksheet later half of the class - still don't know if the worksheets are even working. She gives reviews on exams but that's not enough. ONLY SELF STUDY will get you through.
This class is pretty hard and requires lots of studying on your free time. I thought I would have been fine because I got an A in gen chem 1 but I was so wrong. Her tests are not reflective of the in-class assignments and are harder than what is being taught. However, she is the only best option. Apparently, there was a curve but people lied.
Taking Dr. Sanders will require you to study the textbook/other sources in order to do well on the tests. Her slides are good, but only after you have a general concept of the content being discussed, otherwise it can be gibberish to students being exposed to a topic for the first time. She is nice, but be sure to work hard outside of class.
Aleks is always terrible. She tries her best to help us though this material is hard in of itself! She gives practice tests (which omg help so much!!). She drops your lowest test grade (not including final) which is nice. She hands back tests the next class so you can review it. stay on top of Aleks and make sure to study!!!
Prof. Sanders is a pretty solid professor. The ALEKS homework in her class is insane, but that goes for all of the QC Chem Dept. She didn't do the best job teaching the material in lecture, but would give worksheets after and explain if you asked her then. The tests varied a lot in difficulty, really put in the time even if not challenged.
Sanders doesn't teach well so self study is a MUST. She zips through the slides but will explain further if you ask her after. Do ALEKS consistently or you'll be scrambling to finish it on the night it's due (that was me...learn from my mistakes). In class assignments help your grade curve in the end so do them!!
Supportive professor who explains material without being condescending. Self study is key, her slides can be hard to follow without prep. Tests are tougher than they seem, sample exams aren't fully reflective. Drops lowest test grade (excluding final) and curves generously. Stay consistent with ALEKS. AVOID EDWARD LOOK's recitation section!!!
Dr Sanders, though a fast lecturer, will take time to explain any concept you aren't sure on. She provides opportunities to show your growth. I will always recommend Dr Sanders.
Dr Sanders wants you to pass and does everything within her means to make it happen. You still have to put in the work and make sure you don't fall behind with the aleks. 3 exams and one final exam. Lowest exam is dropped and a very generous curve. Show up for attendance and do the inclass assignment and study your best. you will be fine.
Sanders is a really caring professor, and with that she makes sure her students pass the class as long as she knows you're putting in the work. It's a lot of material and it is difficult but keeping up with, but the Aleks helps. Make sure to do the in class assignments bc the curve given is worth it!
Best option in QC chem by far. She is a nice person (unlike almost every other lecture prof). She genuinely cares about students and wants you to pass. She goes quickly in lectures, but she has slides and study guides. Exams are MCQ. She's quite forgiving with grades and curve, so she's your best shot at passing. You still have to work hard though.
Best option for Chem 2. She gives practice exams that are 50/50 to what the actual exam will look like. Quizzes and tests are graded by the two highest scores. Attendance matters!!!! Boosted me up so much. If you put in the work, you will pass :)
great professor and best chance at passing!
As a person, Sanders is pretty nice. But... the class is self-taught basically, she cant teach and flies through the lecture and throws a worksheet at you in the end and expects you to know everything that was taught. Failing quiz and test averages for every single one. However very possible to get a good grade, but you gotta have to work for it.
Sanders is a nice person but the whole semester is self taught. The class itself is challenging and she gives very few to no opportunities to raise your grades besides your tests. No cheat sheets for any test, pretty much no major curves, be ready to study!!
