I used to like to read.. after taking her class, I despise any work of literature! She gives daily quizzes where you have EXACTLY 10 mins to write a well-developed paragraph. Class discussion is mostly students' opinions.. minimal analysis of the story.. Stay away if you want to keep your GPA above a 3.0 b/c this class will definitely lower it.

No clue how to teach. Tests given before every class are basically sparknotes-level memory tests that you can fail even if you've read the texts. Her lessons? Mindless, interminable plot summaries of the works read. Be prepared to be bored out of your mind, and get a D for your trouble, no matter your skill or interest. She is incompetent and petty

Spector is not a good teacher. First of all, she doesn't like people. She looks at students like they are completely dumb and made the whole class feel miserable. There is no point in emailing her, because she will not reply. Avoid if you can. 7 people in my class dropped her, - 7 people is a lot! She also teaches at Fordham, I think.

I took her class at Fordham. She likes trashing Baruch students at Fordham telling how stupid they are (I think that it is very unprofessional). She is very rude and always trying to show students how stupid they are. Why does she teach if she hates it?

Arguably the worst professor I've ever come across. Very nasty and rude, and will belittle you at any chance she gets. Extremely hard grader, but doesn't specify what she wants until AFTER she grades. She projects her misery amongst her students since misery loves company. Really, really, really dislike this professor.

Her course is outlined very clearly, the readings and assignments are straight forward, but I do not understand what she expects. The course work is not that tough, but her grading is extremely vague and not helpful. I took this class to learn to write better. She doesn't teach you how to write, she just demands that you write better.

Dr. Spector's class wasn't that tough, she's just a tough grader. I liked all of the readings we were assigned. I did all of the readings, but still felt like I needed more time to research literary critiques in order to survive in her class. It really bothers me that she is so disrespectful and publicly shames all of us for needing to pee.

She's a very hard grader, and at times can be petty about small things in class (going to the bathroom). But that being said, her essays are not too hard, only 2, two page papers and 2 tests (midterm and final). She cares more about personal interpreations and analysis then anything. Just do that on the papers and tests and you'll be fine.

Boring lecture. She gives vague assignments and is a tough grader. Attendance is worth more than the assignments. She does not prompt critical thinking or analysis of the readings. I love literature, not with her.

Gives Quizzes at the start of every class and uses that as attendance. If you come late and miss the quiz you get an absent for the day. Makes reading literature SUPER BORING. Doesn't let you get up to use the bathroom and the class is 1hr40mins long! We're adults and we're PAYING for this class! Spare yourself the time and don't take her class!!!!

Prof. Spector is very tough grader. If you don't want your GPA suffer don't ever take her. Very boring class and you never understand how she is grading. Seems if she likes you you will get good grade, if not you will never get good grade. Before submitting my essays it was checked by people who has Phd and did 10.000 essays. She was grading C.

She really doesn't teach. Her lectures are boring. She's quite disorganized and unclear. Unless you're an excellent writer, this class will be a challenge. Also, despite this being an English class, she speaks far too much about politics. She's a liberal and dislikes president Trump, and she always brings it up. I love English, but she's awful.

Do not take this professor unless you have to. Very rude professor. Never talks about what is actually needed to do well in the class. Just starts the lecture and doesn't stop. She is a VERY tough grader and she gives a very boring lecture not engaging. Unless you ACTIVELY want to argue with a professor don't take her class!

Professor is very boring with long lectures on each reading. She doubled the ID portion of the final exam which is also on the midterm but did not increase the time. This made it hard to give a quality paper do to this unreasonable task. She also provides little feedback for the essays. Kept writing so on the essays and when asked she ignored it

Group project to begin with is pretty retarded on zoom, you get one student who don't work and drags you down with them so lost points there, midterm is about finding 10 quotes out of 30 famous poems which are pretty long so I guess you gotta read each line . Professor is a liberal and gets super annoying with her politics comments each class.

She is terrible in my opinion, gives readings that are so long and her grade is made up of the midterm, final, attendance, and group project. U get quizzes everyday on the reading but the exams are whats so tough. She chooses 14 quotes from all the readings and you need to identify it like its crazy. Dont take her at all honestly

DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE( she give bunch of reading that you wont finish in one day especially if you have parttime job.) her class is bored , she start with quiz every class andshe just talk and talk for long time. Tbh i will give her a zero if i could, as a billingual student, i feel so street when coming to her class.

Switch to a different class if you can. Her class has daily quizzes, a midterm, a final and 2 papers that are supposed to be 2 1/2 pages but the formats she has given are gonna make it 3+ pages. I followed the format and had 3+ pages, and she grades it as if she forgot her own format. She is the type of prof to never give an A.

Please do not take this teacher by any means. Her tests are so difficult. Her lectures are so boring that they could classify as torture. I would rather lick the pavement on the dirtiest street in manhattan than sit in her class.

This is by far the most strict and worst teacher at Baruch. Spector's class is truly unfathomable. Her Midterms are nearly impossible to obtain a decent grade in, and every class has a quiz. The reading is excessive, with at least 30 pages every night. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS

Sheila Spector is the WORST professor I have ever had to take. You have to enter the class take a mandatory quiz about the reading she assigned for homework and the readings are too many pages long and annoying to read. After the quiz, she'll yap in low volume about a boring story for the rest of class. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!!

Very mean!! I read all of the stories and tried really hard on tests and the final. She gave me a bad grade bc she just did not like me, even tho my responses were always correct. I talked once in class and ever since she was very rude to me. I was well behaved for the rest of the semester but once she doesn't like u she will fail everything u do.
