She is a good teacher. Just do the homework. She is willing to help you after class too. I would recomender her.
She has a GREAT teaching method. She makes you learn it, and helps you learn it too. She's not super easy, but thats what makes her a good teacher. She's just right.
My favorite professor EVER! She can teach math like noone else can. I gave her a 1 for easiness, cause she's TOUGH but if you need to learn math, this is your lady right here. I just wish she taught more classes so I could take her again.

frosh. semester of college started of very bad. She reminded me of the principal in Matilda. Knows her stuff, but demands control of class. suprise quizzes if your phone goes off.

Sheila knows her stuff, theres no arguing about that. However she turned intermediate algebra into rocket science. 100 problems a night 5 days a week and homework quizzes.(A homework quiz doesnt have problems on it, she just says do section 2.7 #34)
She kicked my butt! But... later on in calculus and I could do problems most the others couldn't because she prepared me for it. She goes the extra mile, go see her in office hours and you'll understand.

She taught the class like a high school teacher would. College students are generally adults, and should be treated as such. Her homework load is ridiculous, reassigning seats for quizzes and tests is just stupid. Don't take her.
She is very good at explaining problems! I understood things in her class that I could never get in high school math. Lots of homework, but you will get an A if you keep up with it and ask questions in class!

In the beginning she seems hard. If your some idiot looking for an easy class, don't take her. Though she's tough, through her teaching I have developed a confidence and liking for math. She loves what she does and she makes sure you learn. Extremely recomd. if you are planning to take higher math.

get out!!! avoid her if possible, she makes you feel stupid for asking questions she assumes that people should already know! she basically wrote the book out onto a piece of paper saying that she doesn't like to teach from a book, but that's basically what she did, read the book i hated her.
the math isn't easy( it never has been easy for me)but her teaching styles have made all the difference!yes, theres alot of hw, but the more I kept up with it the more I seemed to get the work.She was available for all the office visits I needed to get the work and shes very friendly.

White will still mark it wrong if you dont put the work in the style format SHE WANTS. She doesnt care if you get all A's! If you don't do it her way the WHOLE problem is marked wrong.
My algebra is awesome now! I give most of the credit to Mrs.White. I not only know how to get the correct answer, I know why I got the right answer. I don't worry about memorizing all these different algebraic formulas, she taught me to generate them. If you can pass White You can pass any class.
Mrs. White is a instructor who will prepare students for the advanced classes such as college algebra or trig. For those who don't understand this, the class must be hard because he or she is not interested in the long term success but rather just passing the class. White is compassionate about math

She is a very hard grader, and gives tons of homework, but you really learn in the class. If you keep up with all the work, you will move on confident that you know what you are doing.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I experiences retaliation in grading, was threatened, and treated extremely innapropriately because I didn't do things her way. I had a 4.0, and she slashed it by grading unfairly. BEWARE if you don't do things exactly to her strict rules.
miserable class. Was always confused and hated it that she tried to make the math lesson relate to 'everyday' life...but the examples given clearly did not. I mean who really looks at a flashlight and ponders what degree the concave plate behind the light has to be??????

Worst instructor I have had. Doesn't matter if you get the right answer. If its not the way SHE gets the answer, sucks for you. She's sarcastic and condescending. I hate asking questions in fear of being put down. sHE BLAMES students for not doing their parts but she isnt doing her either.

She's a tough grader and extremely strict, but she helps you work alot of mistakes out of your math logic-- very helpful, especially if you're a math major. If you don't want to put hard work and effort into it, don't take her. But you'll learn more from her than almost any other teacher.
This is the single worst teacher I have ever had. Her class is hell, she gives you mountains of homework and her crass snappy humor will make you want to ...no point to say it cuz itll get censored but you all know what I mean..

Probably the worst professor I had at Citrus. I'm a 3.9 GPA student and couldn't learn a damn thing in her class. She is rude and condescending. She spends more time telling you how she worked for JPL than she does instructing. DO NOT take any class she teaches.

The pickiest teacher i've ever had. She doesnt teach correct and moves on without finishing a problem if you have a ? she lets you finish it on your own. Sometimes she talks about her cats and whatever she has in mind. If you miss a single step or dont do it the way she said it is completely wrong and she wont grade it. Try to avoid her.

VERY specific with TOO much homework. But do it and it pays off. I worked my ass off and I got a B. If you fail you CHOSE too. Get out of college if you can't hack it. She's really sweet and if you have trouble talk to her instead of ****ing.

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!! She's rude, unclear, and extremely unfair. Her lecures are horrible. She talks about whatever she feels like, not about the subject at hand. If you're absent 3 times in the semster she fails you, and she marks you tardy if you go to the bathroom. I dropped her class and reported her to the head of the department.

The first class I ever FAILED. I was in that horrible class every single day. She wanted me to take a lower math class but I know I didn't need it. I retook the same class with a different teacher and got an A. She just makes things so overly complicated.

Not a great teacher. She likes to collect homework randomly and has pop quizzes all the time. The work load is a lot even for a math class. Our class started with 44 students and by the final we had 14. I only passed the class because I took algebra in high school but I was only one of maybe four people and that passed. So yeah, Don't take her.
This teacher is very knows her math, BUT, she has many quirks. Be prepared for LOTS of homework. Be prepared to receive your graded exams 5 weeks after you have taken the exam. If you don't ask questions, you may not get it. Class goes VERY quickly. We started with over 40 students, and ended with less than 10. Very tough teacher.

She is very, very demanding. Her teaching style is one of rigorous repetition, and what I can only describe as presumptive spite--it's almost as if she is penalizing you by taking her class with the innane amount of homework assigned to you each week. AND she every day she wears a cat somewhere on her person.

Donn't take her unless this is the only class your taking... The grading doesn't seem fair...It was only a 2.5 unit class and only about 4 people are going to pass with a C or better. Very strict on homework and will mark you down on test for everything you don't do her way... Very unfair.. Don't taker if you can't devote your self to 2.5 units.
When math sometimes can be complicated this lousy teacher makes it even more difficult to understand She gives alot of homework but not enough clarity to do the assignments where sometimes you figure out a problem she'll take the concept of the problem and make it more difficult come test time.classes started full ended with 11 students. She's a bit cooky, but is helpful to those students who are WILLING to learn. If you're just trying to get by w/o attending or doing hw, don't expect to pass. She can be mildly complex, but she explains thoroughly if you learn to take notes from your book AND in class. Rely on the book, hw, and ASK ?s if you need help. She's very kind and rational.

I feel i am a strong student in math i have never had problems and im not afraid to work hard. But this class is ridiculously hard i did every single hw assignment which averages to about 8+ hours and got a D.if u do take and have a complaint see the DEAN! i cant stress this enough. but otherwise avoid as much as possible.

This class is a waste of time. You think it's just hard at the begining, but it keeps getting harder. Homework is crazy. She gives hours of homework and collects very little of it. Of the stuff she collects, you get negetive points if you leave out a step or don't do it her way. I actually got -2 of 20 for doing the homework. Do not take her!

I see a lot of negative reviews. She is a good teacher, but she obsesses about a lot of things and sort of gets crabby. She does assign a lot of hw, but the book we use explains things very well. It's a disappointment that I could have had As on all of my tests if she didn't take points off for not showing her steps. I don't recommend her... :/
I passed this class with a B 5 years ago and wanted to retake it as a refresher. I had to w/draw because I didn't have ANY time to spend on my other classes! She expects everyone to devote 100% of their life to her class! She also treats her students like kindergartners. I don't know why she is even teaching, she seems to hate students.
she'll listen to us but then dismiss our comments/ concerns. our whole class literally went to the deans to file a report there is wayyyy less than half the class still there.. i recommend to anyone run the other direction and look for a diferent teacher...

first half i hated her because of all the stupid steps she makes you show in the first half of the class. but the second half all the little steps do help you out. As much as i hate to admit it, she is actually a good teacher. but this is also a warning, if you expect an easy class dont take it. if you want to learn math for your career, take it.

Yes, she gives a lot of homework. But it's all relative. I think that I would not have been as successful in her class had I not done it. She teaches well and knows her stuff. If you're taking a lot of units, think twice. If you're not, she is the way to go!

homegirl! you need to relax. math isnt an easy subject for most people. especially bc there are so many ways to learn it. all the work is the way she wants it. even if your comfortable with what you know, your wrong and you WILL fail! do not take her unless you are up for her challenge!

This has been so far the worst math class I've ever taken (I'm ready to withdraw). If you are looking at taking Professor White, DON'T DO IT! The homework assignments are long and tedious, she never tells you when she will collect it, and she grades on every little mistake (no breaks here). Save yourself the time and effort and find someone else.

Yep, she's tough but her class changed my life forever. I went to Citrus because I didn't have the math skill to get into a 4 year. I worked hard, transferred, and now I'm in grad school. I owe a lot to Mrs. White for my success. If you are ready to work and to learn she is amazing. If you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere.

A lot of homework. A lot of work period. But she is very helpful. And I have found if you push yourself through all the homework it makes the tests and quiz's much easier. If you want to pursue mathematics as a career she is the best to take. If not it can at least prepare you for higher level math you may have to take.
She is a tough instructor but as long as you do the work and try your best you can get a good grade. Just make sure to attend class and pay attention and you should receive the grade you want.

If you have no life and all you care about is math take this class. She gives a load of homework everyday. If it's not her way, her format doesn't even matter if you even tried. By the end of the semester less than half of her class would have dropped out.
I took her class last fall semester. I was somehow able to squeeze by with a B & that was w/ me working my butt off every night for 2 hrs (or more). She likes to make math 20x more difficult then it actually is. There was a hole in the wall because (allegedly) one kid got so fed up that he punched it in a rage, so that says something lol

this class is for you if you've ever said "I want to learn polynomials in a class filled with screaming matches, guilt trips for nothing, incomprehensible notation, and randomly collected homework that takes 2 and a half hours a day to finish, but is never actually graded and explained. also, I love constantly tense rooms and 6 page rubric sheets."
White is simply a very particular professor. This is a very time consuming class and you need to do all the homework. She collects homework randomly so you must always have it done. Her tests are long and tedious but she does offer partial credit on problems. You pretty much have to follow her way of working out problems or you'll fail.
Prof White is a tuff teacher but would like to see you succeed in your college years. She is very helpful if you go looking for the help. You can pass as long as you put in the effort and want to learn. She helped me stay organized.

Tough teacher, very demanding ad assigns a lot of homework for random collection during test days. Must stay on top of ALL homework EVERY night and you will pass. Also must be a flexible learner and conform to teacher's way.

She is careing helpful nice and a good teacher But where she tries to help may hurt the student, and when always talking about distractions she distrcats the class. Gives alot of homework to much so. If you have a good work ethic than dont take the class but if you dont take the class and change for the better.
worst teacher i've ever taken! she is so strict in every little thing. she even assigns seats ( what are we, in third grade?!) she nit picks on the slightest things and deducts points for the stupidest things. i dropped her class and i am soo glad. sadly i wasted 2 months in her class
Worst professor I've ever taken. Marks down points on every little thing. Everything has to be done her way, if you find a solution differently then no credit is given. Lots of homework is given and most isn't collected and points are hardly ever given for it. Rushes through lessons and if you have a question then you have to visit her office.

This teacher is so different from any other one I've had. The work load is unbelievable, but I have to say that if you actually just suck it up and do it, you will breeze through the class. Her teaching was very clear to me and she just wanted us to succeed and always stressed that. The only downside to her I think is the work load.
Her class is really difficult.At the beginning I had F and D and all of my answers were correct,I just didn't do it in her way. My final grade in her class was B,and it was one of the most difficult grade I have ever had. But still I think her class was good because I really learn material.
Worst teacher I have ever had regarding her form of grading. Even if you have the right answer on a test she marks it wrong if you dont do it her way. I've never had trouble in math and never seen so many people drop in a math class in my life. Seriously, dont take her unless you are willing to do a lot of homework.

horrible class horrible teacher. out of 40 student 6 passed and 24 dropped. so much homework, and she doesn't even grade all of it. she has a horrible attitude and the worst excuses. if u are considering this class take it as ur only caseload, bc she doesn't care if u have a job or other classes. its all about her and her class
Effort and time is needed to get through to this class. The material is easy but she wants you to do it the way she does it. Quizzes and tests are easy but you need to show the things she wants to see in your solutions. Alot of homeworks, but it will help you improve. But again, too much homeworks. Good luck!
I am astonished that this professor is still teaching. Her class is horrible.. Absolutely HORIBLE Her lessons are not well explained and she rushes through material. She does not teach you expects you to learn on your own. If I wanted that I would have taken an online class. way 2 much hw. had to drop speech and now hers. Ridiculous. Run AWAY
Professor tells you how she feels first day of class. If you are good in math and have 3 hours or more a day to do homework, she is great. She does not help prepare for test. No study guides. Not all homework is collected. Indirectly talks down to students and encouragestaff them to drop. Often tell stories of why you should drop.
Good at teaching those who already know. Speed through lectures and chapters. Over half the class is lost. Makes you feel guilty for needing help.

Math simply comes easy for, However with this professor it was a challenge. I knew a lot of the material being covered in this, but I wasn't passing tests why? All my answers were correct but because i didn't do it her way it was minus points for me. Never have I felt like this about a professor, In this case Listen to these reviews!!!!
She was very clear in her lectures. But she expects so much from you, she has a specific agenda that you have to follow for every single assignment and test or you won't get credit. I followed every step, yet I always got hardly any credit on my homework. On top of that, she assigns anywhere from 2-4 sections every night and they were very long.
Mrs. White gives an extraordinary amount of homework, most of it, is nearly impossible to finish on time. She is in love with math and expects everyone to have the same passion as her yet not everyone does. She wants you to pass and is a very nice lady but is a very tough grader and wants it done HER way. A lot of people in our class had to retake
Worst math teacher I've ever had, the way she explains things makes it a lot harder and complicated than it has to. She marked me down for doing a problem the way I learned it in high school even if I got the right answer. The way she wants you to do hw will make you use an entire notebook for one section. By the time it was the deadline to drop their was only 15 people left out of a full class at the start. Her class is very difficult; she gives tons of homework that add up to very little points. Shes takes points away even you have the right answer but didn't fallow her rules. Its her way or the highway. Her class is extremely difficult.
GREAT PROFESSOR! CARES ABOUT THE FUTURE ABILITIES OF HER STUDENTS BY CHALLENGING THEM. SHE EXPLAINS THINGS THAT SEEM TO BE MORE WORK AT FIRST, HOWEVER IN THE END, THEY MAKE YOU MUCH BETTER WITH DEALING WITH THE MATERIAL LATER IN THE COURSE. I FOLLOWED ALL OF THE GUIDELINES SHE GAVE AND PASSED THE CLASS WITH FLYING COLORS. DIFFICULT BUT GRATIFYING.
Definitely one of my most challenging classes I've had at Citrus. I took this my first semester and I had the time to dedicate myself to this class for hours after class. This is a class you need to put the effort into. It was difficult at first, but her way of teaching and grading has helped me become a better student and push myself.
I wish I would've known of "Rate My Professors" before I signed up for her class. I deeply regret it. Do not take her class. In the beginning of the semester we started off with about 51 students, 3 months later, 24. You may understand the material but if you don't show your work exactly like she wants you to she'll take off a lot of points.

She constantly tells students to read the textbook even though she never bothers to explain the textbook material and often goes just does the problems on the board with out much explanation. Its very obvious she doesn't have a solid lesson plan and doesn't give you enough time to study for her tests.
Although i did not pass the class i really enjoyed the way she thought the class. Beware of a lot of work but in the end the more work the better you can become at math.

In my experience not a very good professor. 2 hours worth of homework every night, she isn't bad at teaching however her grading criteria is different if you don't show your work the way she wants it she will take off points, even if you still get the answer right. Must be good at math to pass this class.

Very strict grader. If you don't do the work the way she does it you will fail, doesn't matter if you understand the material she only accepts the work the way she wants it. Although she is strict, there are some methods that really does help you but a lot of them are useless. Please be prepared
One of the easier classes i have taken. She is clear about what she wants on the tests and how she wants it presented. Enthusiastic about math but can come off dorky at times.
Math isnt my subject but I was able to pass with no problem. However she is an extremely picky grader do not take the class if youre not willing to show every single step. Quizzes once every other week, tests are like quizzes but double that. Use of textbook only for book work. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Enjoyed the class it wasnt that hard.

That said, if you deviate even slightly from her expectations when showing your work, you will fail (even if you get the right answer). When you go to college expect to spend time studying. Not all classes are going to be easy especially math classes. If you simply put in the time and work you will pass her class. This Professor is more than willing to help students understand the material. She is strict with many rules to follow, follow them and you will pass this class.
You can get all the answers right on a quiz but if you don't solve the equations the way SHE taught you, you'll get points taken off. She uses horrible examples in class (I've learned more simply from reading the chapters in the textbook than anything written in my notes). She's not strict or mean but in her class, it's her way or the highway.
She seems nice and all, but she is a huge time waster. Assignments (in my case homework of an intermediate algebra level) take four times longer than they would ever take just because you must format homework and show work the way she wants or you won't get credit. I realized fast this would be a waste of time
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!! She is the worst professor I ever had. She will have 6 hw assignments due one day & have 40+ questions to do in each. She wants you to spend 3+ hrs. a day on her hw. If u get the answer right on test/quizzes but didn't do the work HER way its all wrong. Her examples are awful & make no sense.

Its possible to pass the class but you have to teach yourself a lot, she wasted a lot of time talking about her marriages. Also gave really bad examples & never answered my questions. The class felt very "high school" she had a seating chart, would make us sign in, & mark when we would go to the restroom. I wish i could write more.

If you're looking for an easy A without spending too much time outside of class on homework, then don't bother. Do take this class if you enjoy math and don't mind the work load.
The most pretentious professor I have ever had.
I will admit that it was an experience. I started the class with a D- but despite that I had to learn to work harder. She is a wonderful person & will be glad to help you if you just ask. My advice is to ALWAYS get a head start on the online hw! Practice, practice, PRACTICE for tests! At the end of the semester , I got an A! IT IS POSSIBLE! :)
Meanest teacher I have ever had. Took the chance to speak to her privately to understand what she wanted and why I got the grade I did. The next day she was putting me on blast in front of everyone. Giving me nicknames like the excuses person. Grades very strictly and even grades scratch work! Why? And embarrass every student who need help.
She will mark you tardee if you use the rest room during class. I am not joking it's a 2.5 hour class with maybe a 10 min break these tardees effect your grade. It's not a co rec class but she thinks she can teach it like one which is a horrible idea.
First math class in years. Definitely not my subject, but Prof White really made things easy to understand. Once you get use to her personality, she is actually a really good teacher and a very nice person. Her class is not easy, but as long as you put in the effort you will be fine. Passed with a B and I have always struggled with math.
If you arent the best at math Id say find another professor. Professor white makes you change the way you Learned to add and subtract. She grades strictly and wants the steps done her way. You mostly have to rely on the book and other class mates to learn the lessons. Hardly offers extra credit and there are many exams.
I respectfully disagree with how she teaches. She says she cares and wants to help students but she puts them on the spot many times. Any time she doesn't feel like teaching a certain part of anything, she skips it and tells us to go to the tutors or something. She doesn't help as much as she says she does. Avoid this class honestly. :/
Honestly, I would avoid this class if you already have a heavy schedule, you have to spend time knowing how she wants you to solve the problems and know how she wants to show work or else she will mark you down for everything. YOU NEED THE BOOK. That's mostly wher you are going and study from because she does not explain anything. Not worth it.

Sheila White is the single most condescending, demeaning, and petty teacher I have ever had the misfortune of having. Passive-aggressive, standoffish, and cares more about humiliating her students than genuinely teaching them. You will find no support or inspiration from her. I have never seen a teacher act like an elementary bully. Shameful.
Professor White is condescending and is not there to help her students at all. She brags that many people do not pass her class which is concerning. That is not something to be proud of. She does not teach certain chapters and expects you to go to tutoring. She marks the amount of times that you use the restroom and affects your attendance.
I took Ms. White for math 130 and 150, I thought I was bad at math. I worked really hard and discovered I love math. I went on to a 4 year and today am a math teacher. She changed my life. Be ready to study hard, she's clear if you pay attention and study hard.
Tough Grader and very critical, overall would not recomend.
What did it for me was how even if you got the answer right she would mark it wrong if you didn't do the work the way she wanted you to. This was an algebra class there are many ways to get an answer but she only wants students to solve it her way. She's also hilarious because in general I just found her behavior strange and psychotic!
