Horrible visiting professor from Colorado. She's staying though so careful. Do NOT take her class.

I don't know about the ratings from others, but I like this teacher. She can be very funny. Everyone in class seems to like. She gives lots of extra credit. Tests are a breeze if you studied.
K, I hate econ. even though she tries desperately hard to get you to change your major. She knows the stuff and tried to make the course interesting... but overall, she doesn't explain the material well enough for someone who doesn't have a microeconomics degree. So, take someone else... if possible to find... which i doubt.
She is horibble. She tries too hard to be the students friend. She knows her material, but she doesn't know how to explain it very well. She talks too much about things that have nothing to do with class. the only positive thing is that she gives tons of extra credit. It's kinda hard to fail her class. still, get someone else if possible.
I took her class in Spring 05 and it was a class that I had 2 study a lot for just to make myself feel better even though I knew in the back of my mind that it wouldn't really help. Her tests come from quizzes that you already took and u have the opportunity to take them over and over again and she gives tons of extra credit which really does help.
She's terrible. Don't take her.
In one word: boring. She is very boring, tries to be funny but with no success. She also doesn't seem to know what she teaches. Reading the book helps a lot, since the lectures seem to be totally useless. The only positive thing about her is that it is very easy to make a good grade in her class. I got an A, but I hardly know for a C
Don't take this prof. I learned nothing in her class other than how to memorize the quiz questions for the sake of the exams. She really needs to learn how to teach first and then start teaching.
Yeah, i dont know where the other comments came from. She was a pretty good teacher. The class was very easy, you could pass the class just by reading the book since she makes the exams entirely from book material. If you don't think you learned anything just because you memorized the quizzes, that's basically your fault.

Very hard class. Her tests will blow you away. Extra Practice quizes to help your grade but it doesnt really do anything. Her final is accumulative. Boring lectures, use clickers, and not clear.

VERY HARD CLASS! Her tests are very hard, her classes are very boring, she is very mean and her final covers everything in the year and it is HARD! If u dont need this class, dont take it with her. There are quizzes you have to every week.
It's a difficult course especially if it's not anywhere near your major. She's actually a good teacher and she gets way too excited about the material. She does a good job of making it interesting and giving examples but she's not helpful outside of that as far as personal help goes and I think she assmues that it's easy when it's not!
She is very difficult. I have never made such a low grade in my life, but I did in her Class. Exams are very difficult.
I hated this class...It is the only class that I have failed at GSU. She doesn't make her own tests up and she gives horrible notes!! Don't take her

The material is hard if you're unfamiliar, but this is a very easy class. The lectures are merely a supplement to the readings, so you must read. However, ALL of her old tests are provided, and ALL of the questions are from the publisher's test bank. If you take 3-4 of her old tests and study what you missed you WILL get an A. LOTS of extra credit!

Great professor! Shelby tries to make learning experience fun! Gives extra credits (few % to the final grade)
I don't like the way she teaches. She tries to mesh all these different learning styles together into some hybrid thing that doesn't work
If you study her old tests and take practice quizzes, you will do fine. She gives a lot of extra credit which you should take advantage of. The final exam replaces the lowest test grade and you get to use a sheet with notes on it. This class made me change my major to economics. She is very helpful and provides a lot of notes and practice.
Nice personality - not so nice instructor. She spent all of her time working to get the technology to work and hardly any time actually teaching. Her lectures only supplement the readings and the extra credit is not worth the time. I would not recommend her to anyone that is not already interested and good at Economics.
She's a great teacher. If your lazy this isn't the class for you. You have to actually learn to pass. DO ALL EXTRA CREDIT.... it may not count for much but it matters
Dr Frost is very helpful. She lectures very well. Very good in economics. Be prepared for her Aplia online homework assignment. This takes quite sometime to get done before each class lecture. She gives lots of chance for extra credit. You must do your reading to do well on her tests. She is a great teacher and you will enjoy her class.
I would highly recommend this professor to anyone unless you're looking for an easy A with little. She doesn't lecture straight from the book or slides, has a lot of online assignments and homework, but gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Besides, she's really enthusiastic about what she teaches and seems to enjoy teaching.
Nice, funny, keeps the class interested. Lots of extra credit. Read the book after or before class for full understanding.
Hard class, yes... But also fun! She try to give you a variety of ways to learn, whether you are visual or verbal, this course has all the materials you need. Just dont think that this class is all fun and game though. It gets pretty serious once you buckle down for the exams.
look at her old exams in WebCt (her test come from similar & sometime same questions from previous exams) Our class created our final and we had a cheat sheet. DO ALL HER EXTRA CREDIT! But the worst thing is the APLIA homework...its worth alot of your grade. Not an easy class b/c you have to work for an A or B and econ is just a tough subject.
HARD CLASS. SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER AND FUNNY. APLIA HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE HARD. SHE HAS ALL HER OLD TEST ON WEBCT WHICH VERY HELPFUL. THE ONLINE WEBCT QUIZZIES ARE EXTRA CREDIT. SHE IS VERY HELPFUL OUTSIDE OF THE CLASS.
Very hard class. Nice teacher and actually funny but the class is very stressful! If you want a "F" take this class!! lol
Her class is fun but the test are hard. I did just about all the extra credit and still did bad. Study the old test and do all the extra credit. Read the book too.
Great teacher. Takes a not so interesting subject and makes it bearable. Does a great job of explaining everything you need to know. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
She is very enthusiastic about the subject. There will b four tests that counts 25% each, and they will be pretty hard. But, an "A" is possible. Her tests come from the test bank, so it is to your benefit that you study or look over the past exams (and there will b a lot) but it's worth studying them. Another advice: do all xtra credit assignments!
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT A LIFE! to much freakin work. you have quizzes on ulearn, hw on another site, b.s. she makes up along the way if she can't make class, and her tests are hard. i hate this teacher and you will too. it takes away from your other classes.
Teacher does not teach, instead you do everything on line. All of the homework and quizzes are on line. Most of the info on the test she will never teach you, so how can you pass. She gives alot of extra credit but its needed. I took her twice before I finallt passed. DO NOT take her class!
She was very helpful and organized. Her classes are interactive and she includes students in activities as a teaching method. Kept me awake!! She loves her job and you can tell.
WOW I hate this teacher. She is horrible at teaching and the exams are very hard. Put it to you this way, at bigenning we had 190 students in the class. By withdraw day 80 or so dropped the class. During tests Out of 110 students 70-90 students received D or F on the test. Only 3-4 students get A's.
She's ok as long as you take her for 4000 level courses. Her reputation is notorious in the principles courses. Offers bonuses and breaks on grading to upperclassmen.
She gives a lot of assignements but its all online and only due one day a week. A lot of extra credit but you have to do it to get a good grade.
She is so ****y! I don't think she means to be, but she is such a ****. There are a ton of quizzes and online homework assignments at least two a week. You must do ALL extra credit assignments in order to barely pass this class! Good luck with this class you will need it.
teacher expects a lot from you in terms of online homework, extra credit and so on. but, if you read the chapter before she teaches it and take the extra credit quizzes, class lecture is easier to understand. she loves teaching and you can really tell by the quality of her lectures. she applies it real life and make class interesting. go to class c
I can't lie...the class was challenging and had a lot of work involved. Homework, quizzes. Had and 80-85 average in tests. Had many extra credit opportunities. If you have a job...not recommended. If school is your only job...do it. Prepare to work for your grade!
You will definitely have to work to make a decent grade in her class. If you have a job I would suggest taking another class. Her point scale is 1,000,000 points so you can imagine the amount of work needed to do well. She is smart and loves her job but I don't think she is too good at relating to her students.
She is a great professor but I hate the Micro class... The APLIA program used for homework was terrible and brought everyone's grades down due to the high frequency of assignments.
Very helpful and willing to stop and help you if you don't understand. her tests are ok if you study but tricky. Very good teacher. lots of extra credit opportunities
She was a good teacher. If we did not understand the information, she would go back over it and re-explain everything until we understood the problems. You can tell she wants her students to do well. She also gives a lot of extra credit (more if you attend class regularly) She was great!
Great Professor. Reviews everything before a test online! Makes sure you know the material. Lots of extra credit also.

don't take her class!!!!she is so hard!!! i mean her questons from the tests are so tricky and one time this girl in the class didn't understand what she was saying so she ask the professor to explain again but the professor said "no" and asked the poor girl to go over the stuff again later!!! but if u want to pass the class DON'T take her!!!
Nice person but pretty hard. You have to study the online quizzes. take as many as you can because alot the test questions come from same test bank as online quizzes, but you have to know the matereial real well. come to class because she gives a ton of extra credit that bump your grade a whole letter grade. she is willing to help if you ask.
I took Mathematical Econ with Shelby. Very helpful and clear. SHe rocks my WORLDS. You will learn and Lot from her class. She offers TONS of extra credit opportunities and is not very hard overall. But she expects you to know the material. I would highly recommend her. I LOVED HER CLASS!
she is so hard!!! even thought she offers youe extra cedit, it doesn't do anything to bring up your grade so what's the point? you DO NOT wanna take any of her classes trust me if you want to pass this course DON'T TAKE HER!!!!
Excellent Prof!
LOVE HER!!!! Clearly, the people that are complaining did not put forth a lot of effort in her class because if they did they would have passed. Lots of extra credit opps, even posts her old test online for you to study with!!! I mean come on people, some of the same questions show up on the tests. If you don't understand, go to the SI Sessions!!
She is NOT hard. Just gets carried away from her main point sometimes, which was my main problem in her class because I ended up zoning out when she did that. Gives A LOT of extra credit. Reading the book before the test is helpful and make sure you do the practice test many times! A lot of test questions come from them.
Ridiculous amounts of extra credit for those who go to class. Tests are hard, but with all the extra points, who cares? Her questions come from a test bank. The same ones show up every semester. She posts her past exams. The final made up of questions student have chosen which she posts as well. If you don't ace the final, you are just not trying.
Ridiculous amounts of extra credit for those who go to class. Tests are hard, but with all the extra points, who cares? Her questions come from a test bank. The same ones show up every semester. She posts her past exams. The final made up of questions student have chosen which she posts as well. Despite all this, you still have to read the book.
Dr. Frost is a great teacher. Her tests are hard, but if you put forth the effort you can make an A no problem. She gives alot of extra credit and the only way you will fail or do bad in this class is if you don't try at all. She is one of my favorite professors.
By far the easiest teacher to figure out. STUDY THE SAMPLE EXAMS like its ur job, take the online quizzes, & look over the ppts & you'll be fine. After the 1st week or 2 i showed up for the tests only & i did rather well. And then theres all the extra credit if you need it. But study those sample exams, u'll see the ?s again.
Great professor who is really into her subject. This material requires a lot of studying and effort, but it's not as bad as say, accounting. Definitely recommend her.
Dr. Frost teaches right from the book. You'll need it to the pass the course. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities. She is interactive in class which definitely helped me to learn the material. She always has a smile and very energetic. I wish she could teach all my classes!!
As long as you read the book and actually study for the tests, you'll be fine. She a good teacher and will be very helpful as long as you put effort.
If you are Econ major on not this is the only Econ teacher I would highly recommend. Everything comes straight from the book but the test are still somewhat difficult. What puts you over the top is all the extra credit she has posted on Ulearn. I got 1 B, 2 high C's and low C on the final but the extra credit got me a B, Love this teacher!!!
GREAT TEACHER! I took econ 2105 and didn't do so well! I never understood what was going on! Dr. Frost explains things really graphically and gives good in class examples. She offers LOTS of extra credit. Also I missed on exam and still got an A in the class, she has a final exam replacement if your final grade is lower than your lowest exam grade.
This iS by far the worst teacher I have ever HAD!. She spends too much time on one topic and can never get through a whole chapter. Everyday she tells you to go watch something on Itunes U because she cant ever get through a lecture. Extra Credit was Nice though. Expects you to know topics not covered in class. Got a Crib sheet for Final
She is literally the worst, if you are in her class run. Run far far away. Unless you like teaching yourself then maybe this class is for you if you can manage to block out her useless talking.
She's a fantastic and fun teacher, but you'll have to WORK for your grade. Read the book bc she's highly dependent on it, take practice quizzes and ask questions and you'll be fine. I'm not an econ major but I got an A.
Fun teacher. It is almost pointless to go to class, she gets all her notes from the Author of the book. Only reason to show up is for Clicker extra credit. This is a self teaching class and is not good for visual learners. I highly recommend taking another teacher.
She's a great professor. Her uLearn site is extremely polished and she keeps you up to date on everything. Fun professor and managed to engage a class of 200. Extra credit is through clicker questions, practice quizzes on readings, and other ways she will show you. DO ALL OF IT!!!! It can boost a single test about 20-ish points if you do it all!
Really cares about her students, especially if you go to her office hours. Do the practice exams and past exams online before the test and go over clicker questions and you will do well on tests. Attendance is not required, but she does good visual examples in class that really help understand the material.
Dr. Frost is an excellent professor. She is knowledgeable & passionate about teaching, she genuinely wants her students to understand the material & do well; she will help you if you are struggling. Attend class, do the homework & extra credit & you will do well in her class. Use her web resources/lectures/study sessions & old tests to study.
When the majority of a class gets a D...I just think there's something VERY IMPORTANT being missed.....like IDK teaching the subject! She was way too scatter brained to even finish one chapter during the class period...and made tests unreasonably difficult! I would recommend taking someone else if you actually want to learn something!
If you WANT to lower your gpa while trying your hardest.. Take her.. Otherwise, LISTEN- stay away. She is a terrible professor. I've never been in a class where the prof gets so off topic and so poorly explains the material. You will never get a fully taught chapter, but your tests will be out of this world. Stay away
Very knowledgeable and passionate. Uses extra credit to incentivize reading before class & participation during lecture. Thus, anyone who cares enough about their grade to do the extra credit learns the material in the process. She is also willing to work with students outside of class. Anyone who does poorly in her class has himself to blame.
Professor Frost is one of the best professors I've ever had. Has lots of extra credit and teaching tricks to make sure students grasp the material. Yes, you need to do the work to make sure you get it, but she's there to help. I had no econ background whatsoever, but I learned so much. Awesome teacher.
In her Pers 2002- Global Economics class. She has a lot of games to help us see real life situations of market economy, etc. Couple papers but none that are too hard. Pretty easy class. 1st test was harder than expected, but now I know what they're like and are easier. Used a $10 book, no textbook. And we got IPADS for the semester!!
Professor Frost is always getting off topic which prevents many students from learning the material required on her exams. I attended every class and felt like I learned nothing.
Honestly, I wouldn't really recommend. The only way you can earn an A is if you kiss her ass a little bit. The classes are VERY unclear all she does is play games that make no sense. She's very strict and not understanding at all.
Do not take her unless you want your GPA lowered. She doesn't teach you anything. All she do is make you play games that she tries to relate to what you are suppose to learn but you never learn anything. If you want to pass her class make sure you read from the book and do the online practice tests. Also submit your assignments/homework on time.
Do not take her class. I am in it now and the lectures are completely pointless. In order to be successful in her class you are better off just studying on your own and taking the practice quizzes online. She does a terrorable job teaching the material and the tests do not relate at all to the in class lectures activities.
I will always regret taking Prof.Frost. If she took the time out to actually teach the subject, rather than playing games, I would have passed her class. I got nothing from her way of teaching but confused. I ended up with a D in her class. I repeeated the class with Prof. Rice, who unfortunately no longer teaches at GSU, and ended up with an A+.
SImple and easy class assignments to reinforce the topics in class. Very nice Professor and tries very hard to keep the class interesting. An easy A for any one who enjoys economics. An easy B for your average RBC student.
attendance is somewhat mandatory with participation points. games played in class aren't relatable, but not hard subject. got an A
Do no take her. She makes the class a lot harder than it needs to be. Attendance not mandatory, but you need to go to get participation points. Her power points didn't help me at all. I basically just read the book and taught myself. Take someone else.
Class was a hybrid online class...we didn't get our 2.5 hours online...we had to wait till she got home n then she rushed us off when the time reached the cutoff. She depends on u to ask questions; she doesn't really teach. She has this variable points pool (vpp) that does not help what u don't know. worse professor in my 3 years there.
Does not teach, expects book reading n portal to do all the teaching n quizzing, points system based on busy work that does not reinforce understanding, too many technological issues prohibited learning, rushes online session (online is 2.5 hours of learning, FROST may give u one full hour), u must ask questions to be taught. No lecture or lesson.
If it wasn't for the textbook I wouldn't have passed this class. She teaches you NOTHING in class. All we did was group activities. Just don't take her. Period.
OK, so yeah you have to go to class and yeah you have to read the book. WOW things you are supposed to do in college! I enjoyed the class and she tried to make lectures as interesting as possible rather than rack off some pp slides. Tests are super easy if you read the book and just go to class. If you are an econ or business major take her.
HATED HER. I failed the class but I own up to not putting the time in but she was not helpful. She is a visual learner so she only taught for that learning style. She had a family emergency and instead of reaching out to another professor to lecture she cancelled class for 2 weeks then gave an exam. do not take her if you want ease, horrible
Please if you can avoid taking her she don't teach economics properly and she forces all the work upon you In such a short time frame. Also she splits all her tests up by color code no one has same test in your row. I dropped her right after midterm.
HORRIBLE TEACHER! Hybrid class so half is online. She gives so much work that it's impossible to do everything. Does not give enough time to prepare for tests. I'm a 4.0 student and got a C in her class. DO NOT TAKE HER
Please, read all the previous comments before taking her. Even if you are very smart don't take her. Keep your gpa up by taking another prof or some other place. First thing is that she can't or won't teach. Class is hybrid so you only have one class and then you take test next week. Forces work and not enough time given to do it. Worst prof ever!
STRONGLY advise against taking her. Worse class ever for being just 2000 level. Don't waste your time on taking a hybrid class. Exams are from test banks which are like a million a chapter.
DONT TAKE HER! Yes it is a hybrid class. You will only meet with her 1 time a week. The 4 Test will be very hard. I dropped after the second test. You have so many deadlines to make before you even get to class like ECON PORTAL and D2L soo if you can Please! Please! Please if you DONT have to! DONT TAKE HER! GOOD LUCK!
Worst teacher at GSU
Worst teacher at GSU!!!!!!!!!
I loved her hybrid class! Test are extremely tough with almost no time to complete them! However, she makes up for the extreme difficulty throughout the semester! Take her
Since the class is online, she really doesn't teach much. Shelby is not that great at teaching either way, so no difference made. However, her assignments, although plenty, are quite easy, so getting an A+ in the class was not hard. I repeat: no help given. She is very unhelpful.
Do don't take this class, or any hybrid class for that matter, especially of you are a freshman. It's too difficult to attempt to go from high school style of learning to this. The lectures are boring and it's very difficult to get the help that you need because the class was so large. The smaller group sessions conflicted w my other classes.
VERY stern and honestly quite rude. I emailed her a few times asking about the quizzes we have online and the deadlines for a few things and she shot me down like a bird. Doesn't accept ANYTHING late, whether it's a minute or a day late. And couldn't be any meaner about it. Take the class bc it's easy AF, just don't talk to her. She might bite.
I had her for the hybrid class and it was the worst class I've ever taken. She is a terrible person and believes that when a computer crashes or a website crashes, it's your fault. Which is insane. She doesn't try to help you at all and sets up her tests for failure. The majority of the people in my class barely passed. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Her lectures don't help with the test. When she releases the slides for the chapter, you find that she didn't go through 80% of it. After getting a 70% on the first test, I used all the resources possible. I recorded all her lectures, printed and wrote on the slides, when to multiple SI, but none helped me. I got a 69%. I decided I would withdraw.
I would avoid this professor for microeconomics. I am an AB student and I had a hard time with this class. I have never had a major stump like this one. I felt like the first 2 exams weren't over the material that was posted over the lecture. I studied just to add in. Good luck and try to pay the most attention and learn the application problems.
This hybrid class was extremely hard! The class average was about a 65. Honestly her teaching style made me feel like I was in high school again with all the games we played, then you get to the exam and it's nothing like her lectures. The tests wording was difficult to understand. I only went to class for the participation points. Don't take her!
All she does is play games to explain the material when she could easily state it in one paragraph. Her tests are difficult, they consist of all application so you need to fully comprehend the material. Inquisitive helps. 4 exams & two part final. Final pt 1 replaces lowest grade out of 1 & 2 while final pt 2 replaces lowest out of 3 & 4.
Dr. Frost is a very clear lecturer. She explained things in this course that had never been well explained before. It is very fast paced if you have never taken calculus. Most people who had not failed, but it was an easy A with prior calculus knowledge. She posts old tests for you to study, and makes the tests like them.
I am and A, B student and I had an extremely hard time with her hybrid class. She uses class time to play pointless games, instead of explaining concepts. And her tests are very hard. If you have a choice, don't take her
She does not curve, even if the class average is failing. Which it was for all the tests. I was the only one of my friends that didn't drop and I usually get all As, I am a zell miller recipient and my major is Econ and I still struggled. The lectures feel like they last forever, she knows her stuff doesn't know how to make you know it though.
I took this class online and would highly recommend it if you need a gpa booster. you have a lot of tests and hw, but you can take the tests as many times as you need in order to make a 90% to pass it. This way you are learning the material since you have to teach yourself. There is also extra credit points at the end.
The class was pretty easy. There were no deadlines. You worked at your own pace, everything just had to be done by the end of the semester. She was not much help. I emailed her once or twice, and she was always a little snappy. I spoke to someone who was taking her class in person, and said it was hard. The online class was EASY!
IF you get this professor for a hybrid course, RUN. The homework was easy, but the exams were so easy that I over studied and failed majority of them because I over studied. Doesn't really give study guides nor does she give insight on what the exams will be over.
BEWARE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. YOU HAVE TO MAKE A 90% OR HIGHER ON THE TESTS IN ORDER TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT EXAM. AND TRUST ME THESE TESTS ARE HARD.
You can go at your own pace. You have to take quizzes and make a 90 or better to move on to the one, but you can take them as many times as you want. They can be kind of tough. I failed both the midterm and the final but got a B+ because of the 90 or better on all of the quizzes so it kind of helps.
well I took this class because it was required. lots of homework and if you don't understand it you just have to guess over and over again until you get the answer right. you have to get at least a 90 on the homeworks to be able to move on to the next one. I suggest working ahead as much as possible. helps ur grade in the end.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had at Georgia State. The class is taught like a high school class. If you enjoy 2 assignments with weekly quizzes and exams every other week, this is for you. Group assignments on an online class are mandatory and cause extreme frustration. Getting the A is easy, but only if you keep up with ALL of the work.
Honestly this class has a lot of unnesscary assignments and projects for an online class. And there are group projects as well which is also a pain. There is something due every week so make sure you look at her calendar. She does reply to emails but they are no that helpful. In short this is not a terrible class but you have to do a load of work
The purpose of an online class is to work ONLINE not have to come to the school and participate in group projects
This teacher made this course ridiculously difficult for absolutely no reason. This is the worse online class I've ever taken. She doesn't teach anything at all and expects you teach yourself. Assignments due every Mon & Sat at 10 pm. Asked if she could make informative powerpoints she uploads the book -_- I highly regret signing up for this class
I took this class because someone mentioned you can work at your own pace... you cannot assignments are due Monday and Friday at 10pm. If you've never taken econ or had an interest in it this class will be very difficult for you as the professor does not teach anything at all. Do not take this teacher. Worse online class I've ever taken.
Way too much work for an online class. She has group assignments which is annoying because it's online. Tests are NOTHING like the study guides. So they'e useless. (and you have to go on campus to take 2-3 of them) And her deadlines are really close together so it makes it hard to keep up. She does have extra credit though.
Professor Frost is the WORST teacher you could choose when registering for classes. She doesn't teach anything. I had a physical class with her and all of the material, homework, and quizzes, as well as all of the other assignments, are online. You will have to teach YOURSELF. She gives too much homework and doesn't provide test reviews.
This was a fantastic class and I recommend it. Yes, there are group projects. With GroupMe they are easy. Prof. Frost is very accessible and gives weekly video announcements to keep you up to speed. The tests will look a little different than the class material, but the ideas are the same. I received the grade I worked for, you can too!
Dr. Frost is the hardest and worst professor at GSU. If you have 10+ hours a week to study then by all means take this class. Her tests are extremely difficult and proctored. The quizzes are hard also, but use your resource wisely ;) If you do you'll make a B most likely. Overall her hybrid is a waste of time, just study by yourself. Goodluck
If you have taken another econ class before then this class won't be difficult. you have unlimited trials for online homework that are due every mon and sat. except the exams and quizzes are nothing like the homework. YOU HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF. she has received a lot of complaints tho i never encounter any problem with her personally.
Just run in the opposite direction and just maybe you will past her class, I would not recommend if you are trying to get a decent B. Don't even bother trying to reason with her she will change the subject. Hint you may earn brownie points for bringing in a Banana as she highly talks about them and beware of her turtle neck.
She is worst professor I ever took in my entire GSU life. she doesn't care about students, she makes mistakes but blame on the students.
dreaded taking her because of all the online & in person reviews. yet, she was NOT THAT BAD AT ALL. My only gripe is that the two tests were not reflective of the homework content. She isn't too flexible about altering the course for more effective learning but try hard and you can pass with an A or B. Math is my weakest area yet i got a B.
Assigns tons of homework and quizzes back to back. Communicates through videos once a week. If you email her a question, she just refers you to the videos. Also she assigns due dates during school breaks. Worst teacher I've had so far.
She is an awful teacher that doesnt care about her students and their well being
This class is basically an online class that you have to attend. As the semester went on, she lectured and went over more of the material. The tests are mostly conceptual-just because you do well on the homework you still need to truly grasp the information. It is a tough class but the homework every week are "gimmie points", just have to do them.
Dr. Frost is terrible. She didn't let me make up tests even though I missed it for an Honor's ceremony at RCB... she said she doesn't believe in excused absences. She does random in-class assignments, so if you don't go you're screwed. She also doesn't believe in curving... even if the question on the test is missed by 75% of the students.
Terrible hybrid class. Only saw the professor at the beginning of the semester and every subsequent week was attended by a useless TA. The weekly "classes" are mandated for group projects. Prof doesn't teach anything or offer any help on course material. Entire course "taught" by McGraw Hill Connect. Tests NOT reflective of course material.
Most of the class is through McGraw Hill Connect which actually does a pretty good job of presenting the information. However, class time is a complete waste. The professor answers questions during class which could be answered through the internet or SI. She's not engaging and does not add anything meaningful to the class whatsoever.
she honestly refuses to teach in class. all she does is answer questions about homework that she doesn't even lecture during the class time. you will learn everything about micro through an online platform so you might get confused if you signed up for an online class or whatnot. no extra credits. no curving. no make ups. she's a big yikes.
McGraw Hill exercises/ practice quizzes are nothing like the exams. When asked for a study guide she sends you a 45 minute video on why she doesn't believe in study guides. Doesn't curve grades. I took a hybrid class and met once a week with other students to scratch our butts for 30 minutes. TA Doesn't go over chapter unless you ask. BEWARE.
Honestly the worst professor I've ever had. She refused to lecture. I took it in person and often forgot that we weren't a hybrid. She's a realllllyy bad professor but her grading system is pretty fair. It's easy to make solid hundreds for the homework and it makes up for the bad grades on tests. I would suggest any other available profesor
Mine was a hybrid class but she never, literally never, came to our class that was one day a week. Our TA had to help us with everything because the teacher didn't come and the TA got in trouble for making a study guide to help us with the tests because she thought it made the class too easy. Terrible, never again.
Worst professor she only go over homework problems in class she does not teach at alllllll!!! Test are nothing wat she go over in class and basically you learn off McGraw hill connect .. homework is easy to get 100s its just the test and a cumulative final which is beyond hard.. 1 test gets dropped with the final.
Shelby Frost is one of the worst professor I have ever had. She runs the class like its a hybrid class when it is actually a regular class. Be prepared to learn the material on your own. The only thing she does in class is answer questions about the material, she doesnt teach it at all! She also doesnt give extra credit. Would not recommend.
Shelby Frost is THE worst Professor I have ever had. She came to class a total of 2 times all semester. The first day of class and test day #1. I was not taught an ounce of information once. All that happened was her TA asked us if we had questions on the homework. She refused to curve failing average exams and was rude when asked for help.
Terrible Professor but nice lady. Didnt teach at all or explain problems. Expects you to learn everything from McGraw hill and just asks what questions you have but no one understands. The McGraw hill is easy but the tests are totally different.
Awful instructor. I only saw her once which was on the first day, I took her class as a hybrid, and has not seen her since. she doesn't come to class or offer any type of help. Her tests are nothing like the content we learn from the textbook, she won't care about you or what you have to say, countless people have failed i barely managed to pass.
Although Shelby Frost teaches the most ECON2106 classes at GSU, avoid her. All homework and tests are administered through McGraw-Hill, yet the tests still don't reflect the homework or practice quizzes. She neither teaches nor comes to class. Her TA is very nice but is also a horrible teacher. My class averaged Cs. This is not an exaggeration.
Make sure you get 100s on EVERYTHING on Mcgraw-Hill in order to make up for her exams. Do not rely on knowing the material on the quizzes because they are NOTHING like the exams. Disappointed that after all these low reviews she still refuses to acknowledge her exams. Exam averages run in the 60s. You teach yourself.
Professor Frost has to be the worst choice for a Microeconomics course. It tells a lot that I got an A+ in Macroeconomics and I barely managed a B- in her course. I took it hybrid and she did not show up to class except for the finals. On the days we met, everyone just came out more confused. Not a good professor, would not take ever.
My class style was hybrid so we went to learning lab each week, where the professor showed up one time and the TA taught the class. The TA was very knowledgeable so that was good but there was still some questions that needed to be answered by the professor. I would say she was good about replying to emails, and if you had a question you could emai
Although she wasnt the most involved professor her class was really easy. We used McGraw Hill Connect to complete assignments which helped a lot with learning material & all quizzes and test were open note. You do have to do biweekly dissuasion post though
She gave like 2 quizzes and like 17 homework assignments every week and requires attendance.
I took Dr. Frost over the summer and she was awesome. It had a lot of work, but it was manageable. Her course was asynchronous. I felt like I learned through trial and error. She also drops like your 90 lowest assignment grades. Very easy to get the grade you want if you work for it
How is the teacher allowed to be at GSU? I looked her up and she is not a research professor. her job is to teach but she lets a website do all the work. I think she lets people drop assignments to avoid complaints. Awful.
An insane amount of assignments, was actually overwhelming to see initially but she drops a lot of things I guess to offset the fact she barely participates in her course. Going off of that, everything you learn from this course is from the Internet. Lectures are YouTube vids mostly. She doesn't actually lecture but the class wasn't hard.
The class was not difficult for me. If you take the time to do the work and understand the practice assignments it is a breeze. The professor offers plenty of extra help sessions that her students never take advantage of. I think what it ultimately comes down to is how much effort you're willing to put into this class.
Her class is now just modules that are open notes with a practice section that's graded on completion and a graded section that is just the exact same questions as the practice section. No lockdown browser and theres help sessions every week but this is a class you should be able to knock out the whole weeks work in 1-3 hours and get an A very easy
The class itself is easy, there are no large exams. The practices are the same as the assignments, and you can attempt practices as many times as you want to. Despite this, she does not teach throughout the modules. She provides videos and external sources that honestly, are not that helpful. You can join the optional synchronous sessions for help.
It's a completely online class so you don't have to attend lectures, though optional online ones are available. It's pretty easy but if you are taking this class with the objective of pursuing an econ major, spend time studying the concepts outside the scope of the course since it's very surface level information. Other than that, quite easy.
Never actually interacted with her as I took this course asynchronously. As far as the class went, you're provided all of the resources, and practices for the homework. Not sure I wasn't paying crash course econ to teach me this, but I can't complain too much. The work can take some time to figure out, but it's pretty much all pattern recognition.
Keep on track for this class, the workload is every week but it is manageable if you schedule yourself properly. The professor sends constant reminders throughout the week which I found very helpful to be able to pace myself. As for discussion posts, they are fairly easy and follow the formatted requirements the professor wants.
She is understanding of students and knows her subject well. She fosters participation and accepts to help students after the completion of her course. She is dedicated to her class and gives opportunity for extra-credit.
Worse teacher at GSU
very easy online class with open note tests and quizzes
easy class, take her online
Pretty easy online if you do the work.
