great teacher, highly recommended. She assigns fun homework (very little) and promotes creativity to her students.
Her assingnments are effectively planned to expand your thoughts and promote creativity.Although I feel like I was challenged to think harder, I do not feel that my writing has improved. However, she is very nice and I would still recommend her.
I have learned a little in this class. She is a great teacher, and makes class fun. There are some group projects, and a couple essays. They are simple enough. I would recommend taking her class. Very good teacher!
She is an upbeat teacher who keeps class fun and interesting. Heavy on in class discussions instead of a straight lecture format. I thought it was a good format that keeps the students interested through the class period. I will try to take her for Comp II. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
she made the class interesting and I believe she enjoys teaching the class.
She is awesome! Highly recommended. I also recommend taking this class blended. She is very down to earth and it is easy to have a discussion with her. The essays are graded fairly and you will have fun doing them because they are interesting topics. This class also deals with a lot of debate on certain subjects.
I took her my first semester, and went into her class saying I hated writing. It was almost like you couldn't be wrong in her class, it was more creative. I really enjoyed it and I like her teaching style. Very laid back and more than happy to help. Very nice lady. Only had to write 3 essays so far and got an A on all of them.
It was a very interesting class with lots of interaction between the students. With such a diverse class it made it that much more interesting. We definitely had lots of fun.
She's the BEST! I took her comp 1 class. It wasn't only teaching you english but more of having you think outside the box. Class time is used for fun creative assignments with other classmates. All in class debates are your own opinion.. no wrong answer.. she's the best! taking her for comp 2!!
One of my favorite teachers. Makes comp interesting and fun, really encourages you to think creatively. I feel more comfortable writing after taking her class.
This class is amazing, I am going to be sad when it ends. Ms. Rosengartens teaching style is beyond an other that I have encountered. She is open, creative, and very helpful. Wish I could do it all over again!
She is very helpful, & the readings and papers aren't overwhelming. She likes to assign work for us to do in pairs & groups. Her paper topics also relate to the real world. & she tells you when to bring your books to class since we don't use them all the time. She's really friendly, too!
Professor Rosengarten is AWESOME. I think everyone should take her comp classes. I took her for 1 & 2 and I am so glad I did!
Prof. Rosengarten is interactive and really enjoys her job.I Took Comp I & II with her. She does put a lot of emphasis on grammar& punctuation on papers. Really likes classroom involvement by students & likes groups in class work. Do your reading. Firm but fair grader. Worth taking.
She's a very nice lady but she is a very tough marker on essays. Have someone proof them and make sure they include citations.
I would not reccomend this professor to anyone with a job, any other class or a life of any kind. She gives tons of reading assignments, and in class disects them to death. I truly enjoyed reading until I started her class. Also don't expect her to be undestanding about anything. I have learned nothing so far except to hate analyzing literature.
I really enjoyed this professor. I honestly could live without the poetry but she makes it fun and encourages feedback and participation. Not an easy A by any means but a great way to push yourself to greatness!
AMAZING! Wonderfully helpful and open minded. Quick with insightful feedback. Encourages participation and interaction. Incorporates her enthusiasm into her work. Best English teacher I've ever had! VERY nice! Picks interesting topics that are easy to relate to. Absolutely brilliant. Put effort into ur work and you will have no problem getting an A
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Comp II online. She assigned 3 med length essays, a couple ungraded quizzes and a couple graded quizzes. There were also weekly posts and discussions in which you had to ACTIVELY participate to get full credit. Put EFFORT into your work and >>posts<< to get a good grade. Lots of interaction! Great professor!
GREAT TEACHER. Very enthusiatic about her job and helpful with any questions that you might have. Took her class online and it was one of best classes I ever had. She uses audio and video clips, which she created mostly herself, to help give a voice in each weekly discussion and to clearly explain what needs to be done. Highly recommended.
Fabulous teacher. This was the best online class I've taken. She really cares and puts TONS of effort into the class. She is extremely interactive, even responds to posts on discussion forums. Lots of the class content she created herself. I would definitely recommend taking her.
She is fantastic!! I love her class and everything is fairly easy. We work a lot on things that seem to be completely random (yet fun) but they really do help when sitting down to write a paper. She has some small assignments, but grades are mainly papers and random online grammar quizzes. Responds quickly and is very approachable about anything.
She is very helpful! Midterm was just one of the essays we were working on. Rubrics on the essays are very informative. She responds to emails fairly fast, she does have a life outside of school. Gives extra points for extra participation! I love her.
Easy A. Do the work and try hard on your essays and you'll do fine. She is an nice teacher the only problem is knowing when to turn stuff in. She'll tell you the class before that your final essay is due next class so just keep up with your writtings and do the quizes and handouts. No midterm or final really. Easy Class
The only professor that I have chosen twice in a row, she really is fantastic to study under. She has instilled a desire to write rather than just a course requirement to write; and writing wasn't always my cup of tea. The course is not overly challenging, but you will learn something valuable as long as you do the assigned work and participate.
I loved this class! I graduated high school in 1992, so it has been a while since I did anything "school-related". This class reawakened my love of writing and I owe all of that to Professor Rosengarten. What a fantastic instructor! Highly recommend her online class.
I have taken Mrs.Rosengarten for both composition 1 and 2! She is definitely the best teacher SPC has to offer for comp! As long as you go to class you will get an A or B. Tip: Use the tutors SPC offers to have them check your papers. If you do that, you WILL get an A+!!! She is very helpful! Easy class :)
I took this class online during the summer. She was not the easiest grader, but she gives a lot of leeway. I was late on a few assignments and she still took all of them at a lower grade. She gives constructive criticism well. The class online is very clear and I highly recommend her.
So far I have enjoyed her online class. No midterm or final. Easy but do your work!!
TAKE HER!! She is an amazing professor, and I would tell anyone to take her! She only gives 5-10 online quizzes which are only 10 questions long and no mid-term or final exam.
I am a dual enrolled high school student. This was my first college class. The course was very well organized and the expectations for each week were clear. The workload was manageable. I spent 5 hours a week or less completing my online assignments. The grading was very fair. Prof. Rosengarten responded to emails very promplty and was courteous.
The online class is extremely well-organized. Her instructions are always clear - she sends a weekly message covering all assignments for the week. Discussion posts require some time, but are beneficial and relevant to each unit. No midterm/final. She provided thoughtful feedback and was always available to help. I highly recommend her.
Random activities daily that have to do with what we're studying at the time but isn't specific enough about the actual assignments she assigns. Partner work and group work every single class and multiple times a day. I really like her as a person but she just wasn't clear and specific enough.
She is, overall, a great professor.
So. Much. Feedback. No midterm. No final. Few quizzes. Plenty of time to write papers, plenty of help, plenty of feedback, plenty of leeway. Learned a lot. Overall, the perfect professor.
I am in the last week of ENC1102, summer online course. She has been my favorite professor at SPC so far. Very clear and helpful. The material is interesting, I actually look forward to the short stories and poems. No tests at all! Two easy essays, easy A as long as you do the work. Highly recommended!
I DO NOT RECCOMEND. TOUGH GRADER. MY FINAL CALCULATED GRADE FOR THE CLASS WAS 89.4 AND SHE DID NOT JUST BUMP TO A. RIDICULOUS. You can do all the work well and on time but does not guarantee an A. Do not take her if you care about your grades and want a (do-able) A.
I took this class this summer and did not expect there to be so much work. The work was not incredibly tough, but there was plenty of it. Rosengarten was pretty fair with grading, but sometimes it did not make much since. A few quizzes, two big papers, and multiple discussion post. I took the online class.
Assignments and resources did not align. It was tough to decipher as an online student what she was looking for and what her expectations were. Only received one paper back with mark up explanations. Most communications were in general to all students and not specific for individual assignments.
It is possible to get good grades in this course, but be prepared to write! Alot of writing and tough grading criteria. Essays must be absolutely perfect with 0 grammar flaws. No midterm or final!
Mrs. Rosengarten is very sweet. Expect to write. This is a very easy class if you do the work. No Exams. Few quizzes , group participation, three major papers. She gives great feedback on papers. However, she is a tough grader on grammar, syntax, and plagiarism . Do the work and participate in class and you will do fine. No late assignments .
Mrs. Rosengarden is a good professor. She's very understanding and is personable. She grades assignments (which there aren't too many) in a timely manner, like 2-4 days after. Her lectures are kind of pointless. You could take the class by just reading the criteria on each assignment. There to help. Would take again!
I would not recommend Ms. Rosengarten for an online course. She may have a strong presence in a face to face class but online she is invisible. She only marked up and returned the first paper during the term and the feedback she provided was directed to the class as a whole. It was hard to improve on writing skills without her direction.
Took massive points off of assignments for simple mistakes. Doesn't give thorough explanation for why.
Don't take this professor!!! She expects you to be a professional writer, with little to no feedback!!
Rosengarten was the best English teacher I've ever had. I took her for comp 1 and came back to her for comp 2. I loved her class. She was funny and personable, and in-class activities felt productive. There are several papers, but she basically gives you the outlines for them. She's super clear and gives good feedback. Easy A!
She was very welcoming, making herself available when I really needed some help in class. She encouraged dialog between students by making us learn how to critique each other's work also. There was a lot of writing in this class.
Tough grader but only because she really wants you try. No quizzes/tests just papers and discussion posts. Plenty of time for the papers but drafting is required. Will help you if you ask for it. Checks emails during the weekend which is huge for an online class. She may come off as rigid at first, but generally wants to see you succeed.
I took the summer express class of ENC1101 online. Mistake! If you have more than one class going on, this class is brutal. A ton of reading and homework and very tough on grading.
Professor Rosengarten is great. I took this course as a full length fall online course. If you can demonstrate skill in essay writing and if you can read some material from the textbook, you'll likely pass. Professor is also very punctual with responding to emails. Definitely go with this professor.
Professor Rosengarten is very admirable and is an amazing teacher! The course has three major papers, assignments aligned with the papers, mywritinglab activities and a final project. As long as you pay attention and put in your best effort there's no reason not to get an A or B.
DO NOT TAKE!! if you are not a professional writer there is no way you will get an A. The lectures are pointless and I wasted a bunch of money on books I didn't even use. She does give good feedback on all your essays but I felt as if she was very unapproachable when i needed help/doesn't answer questions fully.
If you take her literature course so you have to expect a lot of reading but the positive thing is that there isn't a whole lot of writing assignments, I had three. With the of writing assignments, I have to agree that she can a tough grader. There are a lot of open discussions about the reading and from that I've learned a lot.
Rosengarten was not a great professor at all. I took her class in spring for comp 2. She graded things very harshly to the point where whatever you do isn't good enough for a 100%. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, if she sees you on campus that day she holds it against you. Which, I don't understand because it's none of her business.
Composition was never my favorite, but this professor was encouraging and insightful. If I need Comp II, I will definitely take her class. Do the work and be on time and she will reward you for your efforts. You do have to apply yourself. Her lectures really helped me to write to different styles of listeners.
Prof. Rosengarten is my favorite!! I'm taking another one of her classes next semester. If you have difficulty writing, I would recommend her! She breaks it down and is always available outside of class. No midterm/final but a lot of discussion posts. In class- the lectures weren't what I expected, she made it so fun! You will need the textbook!
This is the second time I took this professor. She's amazing. Papers are broken down to a thesis, P1, P2, final paper. I recommend taking her in person as an online class can be reading heavy. Always available after class. No midterm/final/tests. Do your work and you'll be fine. You'll need the textbook in the beginning. Loved this prof. and class.
Loved this class! Only had maybe three or four essays all semester. Final project is super easy and fun. We did have a 1200 word research paper at the end, but it was nothing to stress over. She will always help and responds to emails promptly and thoroughly.
You just need to do what the teacher asks and you will pass. It is slightly difficult but you have to complete all work with a good amount of effort.
Nice professor. I very enjoy her class. She always have interesting activities in class. If who need help with papers she always there.
I hate English classes but she made it fun! Loved her personality and her being understanding we all have lives otside of school. I would want her as a professor again! the only bad thing is she doesnt really respond to emails, so if you need an answer just ask her in class.
I had her for Comp 1 and Comp 2. In Comp 1 I got a C and she was a tough grader but in Comp 2 she is not that bad. We had to do a activity project like join a club or do an activity and write a research paper on it for Comp 2. She also has a Florida theme going on. In Comp 1 there are a lot more essays compared to other teaches.
She is passionate about teaching and does her best to make the content digestible. Grades work fairly and gives constructive feedback. Going to take her Comp 2 class.
To be honest she is not the best teacher out there. She grades way too harsh for some people with no explanation why you got so many points off. I've had papers where it will be all positive feedback but i wont get higher than a 75% It gets a bit frustrating when it happens over and over again and you end up with a low C or high D
I took the 8 week course for ENC Comp II. In the beginning it was about writing a research paper so your text book wasn't needed. For the second half though we read a lot of short stories and had to write a literary analysis of either one story or compare two. Plus you'll have two discussion boards using theses short stories. She's a fair grader.
Amazing at what she does. Very forgiving grade wise.
Not a very organized class, and for an English professor, communication was a real problem with her. She could not explain the simplest concept or instruction. I had to meet her f2f many times to understand what she wanted from an assignment. A simple Enc class became, overly-complex & overly-complicated, this thoroughly describes her and her clas
I'm forced to take this online because of Covid-19. I ran into a lot of troubles with things not submitting and not understanding assignment due dates, but she was very understanding. The class consists of two big papers and the first one didn't submit, but she still took it, and I thought the second one was due a week later. She understood. 10/10
Great and really nice professor. I'll miss her, though I won't miss college otherwise.
She really makes class interesting, encourages discussion, and has thought-provoking lectures and projects. Well, it's never quite a lecture, but really a discussion. She likes hearing what her students have to say and listening to people's ideas. I would love to take her again.
I took ENC1101H/2H, and Professor Rosengarten was definitely one of the best professors I've had so far. She available for a Zoom session when needed. Feedback was clear, with smaller assignments having in-line feedback. Also, not every assignment was related to an essay; we shared pictures and made a info pamphlet. 5 points of extra credit.
Prof. Rosengarten is very sweet and does fun and engaging activities in zoom class like powerpoints, jamboards, editable class documents. Always available for questions and she's helpful. Her grading feedback could be a little bit more specific but it's nothing too vague that you're lost.
Great teacher!
Professor Rosengarten was engaging (even in a Zoom class) and hosted great discussions about readings. She's friendly yet firm and fair in what she requires.
She is an extremely kind and understanding professor. She is very reasonable/not super strict with late work. There were only 3 main essays in the course with a bit of reading pertaining to each essay, but nothing too hard. Overall, her lectures are pretty open, fun, and entertaining!
Very kind and helpful professor that is very flexible with homework and papers. Not much multiple choice with the only one being the midterm, and most of the work being discussions or papers. There are 2 essays that are required which are an argumentative paper an research paper and she has assignments to help you try to build those papers.
She was a great professor! I was nervous at first on what was to come in the class, but I really did enjoy the class. She is always willing to help and answer questions. Her lectures were also never boring. I truly do miss having her as my professor.
Amazing professor!!! I would 1000% take again!
Took Technical Writing online with Professor Rosengarten. Assignments were straight forward, however you do not receive a ton of feedback on any assignments that are submitted. Obviously very writing heavy, and a tough grader on discussion posts of all things, again with no feedback.
She provides excellent and detailed feedback and quick reply to emails. This class is heavy with homework and a lot of writing. Make sure you follow the format and do not lose any points. There are weekly quizzes, discussion boards, writing assignments,s and a feasibility study as a final project. My advice: Start your project early.
She gave good and detailed feedback and answer emails quickly. I was not doing well at first, but I worked with her, read the rubric, and feedback. My grade turned around; I learned a lot about technical writing. There are only two profs. For this class, and her classes fill up fast, she provides a Free e-textbook that is awesome!
Professor Rosengarten is a kind and understanding instructor; however, there were times when she wouldn't be thorough with her feedback or give me low grades because something "didn't make sense." However, she wouldn't explain what was confusing her. Overall, she is a good professor but needs to be more thorough with her feedback.
I love Prof. Rosengarten, she's awesome, and her work is interesting as well as interactive. She truly prioritizes getting to know her students individually and is fair with grading + gives constructive feedback.
GRADES VERY HARD AND IS VERY LIBERAL. No matter what she will not give you a 100 she does not grade fast either. I was forced to learn the ukulele for this class (writing class not music).
I felt as though there was a personal vendetta because the feedback I got was not good and I was told to make my work more "dummed down" by a student and she agreed. It was not anything too much but because of that type of grading I got a B.
This professor gives feedback on very few assignments and is an EXTREMELY tough grader. Assignment directions are also very unclear along with no feedback. She clearly copy and pastes announcements from previous classes and gives little effort towards the class in general. The professor made this class a waste of time. Not recommended!!
She is sweet and cares about students and their thoughts. However, I felt as though grading was not always clear, assignments got confusing, and there were a lot of 'mini' assignments that made expectations unclear. We had a paper and a longterm project at the same time, she would switch back and forth between the two which made it difficult.
Great Professor. Really caring and intrested in your work. Overall an easy class.
Honestly made everything way more difficult then it had to be. Never gave a direct answer and often not answer emails. Cares more about the creative aspect then factual/technical. Very harsh grader, almsot impossible to get 100 on an assighnment. very long boring lectures that are often useless with the work that was assigned. 1/10 do not recommend
Absolutely do not take her even if ur desperate, worst prof I've ever had
