Very true, this prof is very anal and has an extremely bad case of OCD. But, this class was pretty easy and he is a nice guy. Take this class only if you have patients for people like him.

The key to Prof.Malev is to get on his good side from the very beginning. He loves students who talk to him after class and seem interested in the subject. Answer his questions in class and you're guaranteed an A. No homework/4 tests/ 1 paper/extra credit

Horrible!!! I tell you one thing... The only thing I learned in his class was what the size of standard paper is!! One day did not go by without him mentioning it.He also wastes time taking attendance & fixing the desks into PERFECT rows that by the time he's done w/ that, class is over!
His class is very easy for the simple fact is he takes attendance and arranges desks the whole time. Overall bad professor if you are actually interested in psych. And if you are good at writing in all capitol letters and stapling your paper properly this is a class for you.
If a teacher teaches Psychology they should not have OCD. Learned absoutly nothing in that class expect how to re-arrange desk in a perfect row, and the size of "standard" piece a paper. Waste of time. Be little's people also, and seems like he is always out to get someone. NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS EVER!(coming from someone who passed the class)
Even though he has issues, so what? at least he knows what he's talking about and tries his best to teach the class. I thought he was an excellent teacher. Many people in my class pissed me off. They were so rude and they should go back to high school because that's how they were treating the Prof. Just study and you will get an A.

He knows what he is talking about, but he is NOT a good teacher. Too many negatives to list, but the one positive thing about his class is the tests. All multiple choice, he drops the lowest test (for my class anyway), and he grades tests on a curve. Avoid him if you can, but if you can't make sure you read the book, because he skips a lot.

Sheldon is very nice and sympathetic. If you act like you want to be there he will help you out.
Malev really tries to teach to an ungrateful class of morons. If you just pay attention and show up on time, you'll pass. He is super nice, too

If you really want to learn the material I would not recommend him. This man seems to have a strong opinion about everything but does not actually teach anything.
Professor Sheldon is nice person and a great teacher. Student that gave an unfavorable rating wants the answer to the test and an easy grade.I suggest they start studying for the finals may be they can turn things around because, I am sure they are failing.Remember the teacher is only a coach-youhave to do the work.... Malev is an ignoramus & a phoney windbag. He talks as if his every word will be engraved in stone. I'm deeply sorry I took his course even though I was warned not to. I learned nothing. Total waste of time & money. I got a reasonable grade, but I will try to take it again anyway with someone else.

Took intro to Hypnosis, here's the deal. he is very quirky and def had OCD, but as long as you can look past that he is a very knowledgeable Prof. He is also a genuinly nice guy and tries to make class fun and interactive. You have to do alot of studying on your own though, but he does drop the lowest test grade.
Im taking his general psych class this semester and i am ready to walk out.the comment about how he thinks everything he says should be etched in stone is so true. He doesnt start the class until 30 mins into it and its frustrating to spend the time and money on a class and get nothing out of it. Its now the 4th week and i have one page of notes.
the way that professor malev teaches is not very helpful he doesnt teach very well. i think he needs 2 make is lessons more understandable.
Professor Malev is great person and teacher. He run the class like a place of learning should, unlike some others teachers that get favorable rating, because they give out free grades. My hat,s off to him for his contribution to maintaining honesty and interigity in accademia.
100% OCD but if you show up for the class and actually pay attention and stop actin like your in high school you will pass...but you have to study for his tests. the way he lectures makes it difficult to take notes @ times so read the text.
Worst teahcer ive ever had. Do not take this Teachers Class. Not helpful at all.this professor has OCD to the fullest.. in a 50 min class he only taught for about 15 minutes and the rest was taken up by lining up desks neatly and taking attendance only in a specific way.
he is very nice but you have to read the textbook every single night. The tests are pretty hard but if you study you are good. attend to class !!!! he is a very nice man
He was the worst professor and needs to be more concerned about teaching then having the desks lined up or how the door needs to be properly closed. He rambles on about insignificant things and then has 10 mins to teach his lesson. I would not recommend him to any student!
this guy has serious problems, he is 100% OCD spends time rearranging desks, takes an hour to take attendence, always 20min late to class, his tests are soo ard, he doesnt teach and you have to figure out everything on your own. i have him for 3 hours and we never learned a thing yet. he needs to get some serious help asap!!!!

professor malev seems like a nice man, but he is severely OCD.just taking attendance takes 20 minutes. i see some comments say that people are looking for an easy grade which isn't true. i would like to learn but unfortunately the only learning in this class is from the book, not the prof.
has crazy OCD, spends a half hour rearranging desks and another half hour taking attendance. never learns anybody's names. doesn't really teach and the tests are extremely hard. curves everything; if you do manage to do somewhat well (70-80) on the tests though, you will end up with an A. stressful, but potentially an easy A. frustrating and boring
He does take a while taking attendence but, it a great teacher. he puts everything on the board the first class and then explains it. He is open for comments and suggestions throughout the class. The book is also very interesting and will inspire your thought throughout the book.
By far the worst professor at the school. He is such an a**hole and treats his students like study subjects rather than students. If you try to have an intellectual conversation with him, be belittles you in front of the class and tries to poke fun as well. He's a nightmare when it comes to getting started at the beginning of class, bad case of OCD
TERRIBLE! Everyday attendance would take ATLEAST 15 min. And half way thru the semester he still needs you to say your whole name before you can say what you needed to. The whole 1st week of this class he repeated himself day after day. On the 3rd week we started taking notes...finally
yikes. this guys was terrible.totally ocd except he had some poor kid moving the desks around for him and he literally takes forty five minutes to get class going. he mentions pointless things and rambles on about them for wayy tooo long. He grades ALL of our tests on a curve, and doesn't seem to realize it's because nobody learns ANYTHING at all.

Well we can see who pays attention in class versus who's jsut being self-entitled and immature. He really does give you back what you put into the class. A great hypnotist and a pretty down to earth, friendly guy. I've never heard him belittle ANYONE; when he corrects you its only an academic intention, NEVER arrogance. My favorite professor ever!
this teacher is OCD! attendance is a process taking half the class, make sure your seats are alined perfectly and when you have a question you need to state your full name before you speak, i learned nothing from this class WORSTT teacher i ever HAD!!! Honestly, he seems like a very nice man, and give the time he would be able to teach you a lot about social psychology. That said, he has INCREEEEDIBLE OCD and Im convinced he has alzheimers as well. The lectures are useless as hes either rambing or shoving Hypnosis down your throat. Read the book for all its worth, otherwise you will learn NOTHING
The worst, He dosent teach. He's very anal and arrogant. I think he has OCD. He spends 20-30 min taking attendance, and then bs the rest of the class talking about his life. All his tests are graded on a curve. Since he dosent teach no 1 gets a perfect score total waste of time he needs to retire ASAP ! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS !
Malev was a nice man and seemed to care about his profession but he is just not a good teacher, at least no anymore. He spends the entire class talking about what he finds interesting at the time such as smoking on campus or hypnosis and doesn't actually teach. However it is an easy class if you just read the book. He really doesn't give much work.
memory is horrible and he's very slow, it takes 10-15min to take attendance AFTER he shows up 5-10min late, nice guy but he can't teach, you're better off reading the text book word for word and just show up for attendance, bad OCD and easily sidetracked, he just rambles on about baseball and hypnosis the majority of the time, not recommended

Professor seems like an individual liked among his peers, however, his professionalism is off. I don't recommend taking his class if it isn't mandatory. He doesn't teach therefore reading the book is a complete necessity and being able to understand without assistance is pivotal. Taking an online course would be more beneficial. Retirement Recom.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. I learned absolutely nothing. He is tough grading for no reason. I got points off a project because I didn't cut and paste a newspaper article neat enough. Spends the first hour and a half taking attendance or picking on his students on why they are late, meanwhile he is in and out of the class the entire time. BAD.
He is a very nice person and has tons of knowledge and experiences he shares with the class, but he is just not a good professor. I love psychology, still his classes were blah. He's slow and kinda have OCD, the chairs need to be aligned and other stuff he wants so that make you loose like 15 minutes between organizing the class and attendance.
Great experience taking Professor Malev's. In my opinion he drew many connections too the outside world; alongside his own personal experiences. What really impressed me were his office hours. If I didn't understand anything, I simply just went to his office and received a supplementary lecture.
Prof Malev is a good person but not a good professor. His grading is fair, but the questions on the exam are random and not what he taught in class. If you are frequently late do not take this class because he will embarrass you in front of the whole class. He spends 20-30 minutes on attendance and first two weeks on the syllabus.

Hes a great professor people don't give him enough credit . Yeah granted he may take 30 minutes just setting up for class but overall he teaches clearly and is patient with his students , he will help you in any way he can do well. I have had a positive time an experience in his class.

This is my favorite professor ever. He is hilarious, relates to people and a great teacher. I always enjoy going to his class, it is never a dread like other classes can be. He doesnt want you to fail and he shows that with all the help he provides you and the extra credit. A real GEM.
Professor Malev is a sweet person. He offers incentives like make ups or extra credit assignments to help boost your grade. I had an incredibly hard time learning from his lectures. He spends too much time on attendance. He is very knowledgeable but too old and sometimes slow. He despises tardiness and will call you out!
He isn't the best Prof out there, but honestly this is college, you will have to study, I mean really study the text book every word, submit some extra credits and you will do great. if you put in the work you will get to know he isn't that awful. He is funny sometimes and can humiliate you easily.

Only gives 3 tests and 1 semester project. Total grade is out of 150, meaning there's a 50% overflow. It's hard to fail if you just do the work. The class was slow but it's not difficult to get through. Also, asking questions opens up extra credit opportunities, because he gets curious too. PARTICIPATE.
great guy overall however he is not a good teacher. Like everyone else has said he takes 20-30 min to take attendance, embarrasses kids in front of the whole class if they are late. He tells you to read the textbook but then says that the definitions he gives in class are the best ones and wont find them in the textbook. you learn nothing.
He's not a bad guy, just a bad teacher. Takes way too long to get started, and when he finally starts teaching he bounces around from different topics when he started off discussing one, so it gets confusing. His exams can be a little hard but thankfully he curves them. It's very important to take notes and study them along with the textbook.
I became pretty close to everyone in class, because everybody desperately needed each others help to pass. You have to work hard for it. His tests are not easy, hes also a bit intimidating. On the good side, he gives lots of extra credit! and a perfect attendance is a huge plus. Final grade B+. Have a good sense of humor, youll need it

prof Maldev takes so long to get to the point and gets distracted so easily and 10 minutes later will get back on track but constantly repeats this same behavior, while also taking the first 45 minutes of class to take attendance. I taught myself pretty much so just get the textbook and you'll be good Best part about his class is the curve on tests

A mess. Class starts 10 minutes after it's supposed to and he talks a lot about hypnotism bc he said he majored in it or something which has nothing to do with Psych101. He's decent with teaching when he actually gets to it and he gives a lot of extra credit assignments. If i remember correctly he moves you up a letter grade with good attendance.
I did not miss a class, studied moderately, went to a couple lectures which he recommend, then I've got good grade. If you are a student just after high school, you may not enjoy his class. But if you are certain age, and have some life experiences, you will have fun. I liked his sense of humor, too.

Amazing! He does take a while to take attendance and start the class but, he's old. His lectures are long, but he knows what he's talking about. We had 1 project on the NY Times, it was a piece of cake. Occasional HW would prob take 5-10 mins MAX. If u do well and participate he will LOVE u. I've always been a C student, if this says something.

He gives a lot of tests which are hard even if you pay attention in class. He rambles on all the time. If you take this class good luck.

So sad to see so many people rate Prof Malev so poorly. I loved him. If you participate, he'll love you more. Tests are a bit difficult, and seems like he is slowing down as he gets older, but his passion for psych truly shows. Textbook costs too much. Lectures are boring. Grade is only based on tests that are tricky. He annoys you about your lighting or camera quality.

Professor Malev is a great teacher who loves what he is teaching. He is 84 years old, so yell and speak loud when you talk to him, he will love it. Attendant not a must but it will boost your final grade, that is the reason he takes it very serious to make sure it is fair for who attend classes. And he truly cares about his students.
Professor Malev is a passionate teacher who truly cares about student success. Though attendance is mandatory, his engaging lectures and use of the textbook make the class worthwhile. Unstuckstudy proved helpful for study prep.
Tenure is not necessarily to the benefit of the students. Allows marginal professors to continue to collect a pay check for minimal effort.
