Easy to get along with and not a very heavy workload throughout the semester. Do you work inside and out the class. Be prepared for the day of speeches. Just like The Beatles said; The love you get is equal to love you give. You'll get good advice and overall experience from the course.

Professor Slinkard really cares about how well you do in the class and provides multiple opportunities for extra credit, however they are in class so you must be present to participate. We got out early often. he does not grade you against the rest of the class, but on how you improve throughout the semester.

He provides a class with a relaxed and airy atomosphere. Good at keeping stress in the classroom down while still being able to give good advise, instruction, and structured assignments.

This was a good class for the topic. I had him for telecommunications and it was good. If you pay attention its hard to fail. He really helps you with your papers if you come to him for help. Very smart

Easy enough class. Most grades are from writing assignments, and he doesn't grade very hard. Mostly just wants participation in class discussions and group projects.

Professor Slinkard is a good professor. His class is not easy, nor should it be. That being said, if you follow directions, participate in class discussions, and give your best effort, you won't have a problem. He doesn't want anybody to fail, and he's very helpful and understanding of difficulties. He also has a great sense of humor, which helps!

Speech isn't as bad as I thought it would be. In the beginning, Dr. Slinkard puts everyone in groups and makes you talk together. He gets you a little more comfortable with speaking infront of people before you actually have to give a real speech. As long as you are prepared and practice you will do fine!

Sheldon Slinkard is a wonderful professor. For being younger than most, he is extremely knowledgeable in the subjects he teaches. He's tough, but only if you don't do your work. Otherwise, he is a great choice if you want to learn something, be entertained by his humor, and gain the feeling as if someone actually cares for your schooling.

Profesor Slinkard is really nice and is entertaining. He likes to talk about his life a lot. Pay attention to the white board and in class because this is how he tends to make announcements. He gives great feedback as soon as you give your speech although he is a picky grader.

I was really nervous to take public speaking because it is one of my least favorite things to get up and talk in front of a group of people/peers. But Mr. Slinkard made it a really chill and comfortable environment, and I feel because he really wants all of his students to do well in the course, you'll really become more comfortable speaking.

He's really cool but you'll be doing 3-4 speeches, most above 5 minutes. He's also REALLY funny. Rent the book- he uses it, and gives quizzes on what you were supposed to read. He doesn't tell you when to read. It's on your syllabus so keep up with that.

This class is not a hard class as long as you do your work and go to class.

He's funny, and the work isn't that hard. You need to prepare for the speeches, each one of them. Do that and you'll be golden.

He was very understanding when some family emergencies came up. I appreciated it.

He is a really funny guy. If you're a student who doesn't participate, I would strongly advise you to seek a different professor. He makes speech class as fun as it can be, and is sympathetic to your nervousness during your speeches. As long as you show up to class prepared and are willing to improve, you'll do great in his class.

I love Dr. Slinkard! On the first day of class I was super nervous because I thought he was kind of scary. But once the course actually begins, he warms up and his hilarious! He's one of the most interesting people I've ever met. You only have one test and the speeches matter. He'll help you outside of class if need be, as long as its email!

Easy A if you participate. attendance isnt a big deal. just be there enough to know whats going on. Textbook needed. Would definitely take again HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Professor Slinkard is a great professor who truly cares about his students. Hes really funny. His tests are not the easiest. You need to read your book and study for the tests. This is my second semester taking him and I would still take him again! Highly recommend!!!

Dr. Slinkard is the best! Ive laughed so much and hes so helpful on assignments. Be ready to work, but itll be worth it!

At first he seems like a very tough/intimidating professor. However, he does lighten up as class goes on and even banters back and forth with his students. At times he will give a hard assignment, but he gives feedback and is willing to help with whatever you need AS LONG AS YOU ASK. Overall, I felt I actually learned how be be a better speaker.

Always make sure you go to class on speech day.

10/10 best comm teacher around. Maybe the best professor at ATU. Class is challenging but rewarding. You will definitely notice a positive benefit in public speaking as well as 1-on-1 communication with other people. You will reap this class' benefits for decades to come. I think of him as Robin Williams in Dead Poet Society, no joke.

probably one of the better speech teachers. i did not think i would enjoy a speech class as much as i did in his class. some speeches can be overwhelming but he doesnt grade too hard and is pretty entertaining.

I really enjoyed this class. Slinkard will most likely intimidate you at first, but he's actually pretty cool. He grades your speeches based on your improvement over time, so I would recommend him if you aren't the best at public speaking. The informative speech is definitely the hardest, he has you cite 10 sources and print all of them out.

Great Teacher

Make sure you study for his tests when there is one, they can be a slightly challenging but not too hard. He wants you to pass and do your best, so he really focuses his grading on how much you have improved during your time in his class! He may seem mean and heartless at first, but I loved his class by the 3rd week of my semester, you will too!

Prof Slinkard's class was one of my favorites this year. The classes are small so you get good feedback and you're graded based on improvement so its possible for anyone to do well as long as your actually try. He is a ton of fun as a teacher and one of the classes I enjoyed going to.

Work can seem like a lot at first, but it's not bad once you start. Kind of a difficult grader, but helps you improve.

Dr. Slinkard is probably my favorite professor this semester. While he gives out a lot of work at times, he gave us enough time to do it and helped us with the process. We had few exams, he gave out extra credit opportunities, and graded based on improvement. However, he is fond of his pop quizzes, so do the reading (it wasn't a lot).

Cancelled class a lot

The class at first was intimidating but he makes a stressful subject almost enjoyable. He forces you to become more comfortable talking in front of the class, as in participation is everything. But overall hes an interesting dude and the atmosphere of the class is chill!

Overall Dr. Slinkard's class is fairly easy. If you do your work and prepare for the speeches then you will have nothing to worry about. He is helpful whenever it comes to writing your speeches. He makes an intimidating subject enjoyable.

Professor Sheldon Slinkard is one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. I was able to learn so much from him and he also made the topics more interesting. I pay a lot more attention in a class when a teacher can be helpful in answering questions and keep the class interested makes it more exciting to learn new information.

Sheldon taught in a very easy-to-understand manner but was able to convey a lot of information in a short amount of time. He was wonderful at answering questions and supporting our various learning styles. I would definitely take one of his classes again.

Sheldon made learning fun. He made lectures fun by giving great and funny examples that helped explain the material in a memorable way.

He is not a boring monotoned lecturer that puts you to sleep, he tries to make it interesting.

As someone who has difficulties learning things in an auditory manner, Sheldons personality makes it easier to focus in a lecture heavy class. His sense of humor makes it easier for my brain to stay engaged.

Sheldon Slinkard, is a funny teacher, I really enjoyed class time, he made the mornings better, wasn't hard to learn, he made things easy to understand.

Sheldon has a wonderful of talking and engaging with students in a way that makes every person in the classroom feel comfortable. He is respectful of every person in the room, despite differences of background or character. Sheldon ensures everyone is included in the conversation but doesn't force conversation when it's not there.

Sheldon is a great professor. He makes lectures understandable and easy to not get burned-out. Sheldon allows the class to take frequent short breaks during lectures. To me that is very helpful to endure long class periods.
