She is awful. She acts like she is the Bible master and screws with your head. I've never had a worse teach who doesn't care to help you. Her website is link to link to link and so unclear. I hated that class with a passion.

I hated this class.... a LOT. As the others stated, I got nothing out of this class... I don't feel like I have any greater knowledge about religion, and we did many projects without explanations as to why .

she is very difficult because she doesn't go over in class what is going to be on the tests or anything, then just expects you to write and amazing paper.. not a good prof to take. most who take her dread the thought of taking her again and alot drop the class before the end of teh semester!

This woman is out of her damn mind. She is crazy. Class project is completely ridiculous. She is unwilling to help you. She makes your grade up. Even if your earning an A, you'll end up with a C. She expects everyone to agree with her and if you don't, you're wrong. She should be fired. WHACK JOB!!!

Ridiculously hard. So much work for this class. She is a genius in her field, but its a core class, not a graduate level class. Expects you to know way to much. this woman is insane. i dropped the class after like a week. there are many other religion teachers that teach a class capable of passing and that requires a lot less work. the class project is ridiculous and she makes you feel like you're stupid. she also has this ridiculous website that everything is based of off. she is the anti christ.

absolutely do not take her. Her tests are absurd and you have no idea what is going to be on them. She is very disorganized. Also very feminist. If you refer to God as He, she will chew you out. If you must take this for your major, switch your major.

Worst teacher I have EVER had. Horrible at communicating....No one in the class knew what was going on and when she is asked questions about work she dodges them. One day she ran out on the class because no one knew what was going on and she freaked out.

Everything we did in the class was online (tests, quizes,homework,etc) she NEVER taught the class. Homework and quizes everyday. There is a dresscode for the class. Half the class dropped after the first day. The teacher thinks you have no other classes besides this one. TOO MUCH WORK for a 100 level course. Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE.

Nobody in class ever knows what is going on. I studied her study guide for 12 hours, knew the material front and back and got a D. You have to dress like your going to church. Material is piled on and she is a very difficult grader. Its a religion class but I don't even think Jesus would get an A. AVOID

I dont think Jesus Christ himself would pass one of her religion classes. Basically her tests are extremely long and difficult, her homework essays are impossible, and she has a dress code for her class. all she does all class is have conversations with the smart kids while everyone else sits in confusion

Dr. McGinn is not a good professor, and I recommend that anyone trying to take RL 101 to choose someone else. She expects you to know a lot about religion prior to taking the class. Her assignments are very unclear and the amount of work she expects a week is a lot. If you don't want to do service every week don't take her.

Dr. McGinn expects her students to dress in a manner befitting a college environment, where the appropriateness of attire will be judged by her. I recommend that only the most devoted students, those passionate about religion, enroll!(satire)

Shelia McGinn is definitely a candidate for one of the worst professors at John Carroll. You should not even bother with this class unless you want her workload to take up all of your time. She assigns about 9 projects, 5 essays, and many online quizzes. Dont forget about the midterm and final exams. I have NOT learned anything in her class

Going on I wasn't too worried, a teacher actually reccomended her. However, upon entering her class I dscovered that the woman can not articulate an assignment. I go into the work with no idea what she wants us to do. Not to mention the times she cites instructions she never gave when berating us for our poor work. Please don't take her

The absolute worse teacher ever. Religion is not suppose to be difficult to understand, but this woman makes it impossible. She talks about absolutely nonsense and expects you to come to class. She talks way past the end of the class time yet doesn't allow us to get up. I love my school, but this teach has absolutely ruined the experience. avoid!!!

It is unbelievable to me that this woman is a professor at JCU. I have never been in a class where a professor actually rolls her eyes at students and tells them their opinion is wrong until I had a class with Dr. McGinn. Not only does she discourage students while participating in class, but she also rips students' work apart. Do NOT take her.

One of the hardest graders I have ever experienced. A lot of assignments where you are required to read and write a lot for almost every class. For a 100 level class, it is way too difficult. Even if you are a great student, it is very unlikely you are going to get an A in this class.

By far the most annoying and worst teacher I have had at JCU. She doesn't even teach, just rambles on and on for classes. Classes consist of group discussions regarding things you've probably never even heard of. Be prepared to have lots of work, a lazy teacher who laughs at students, and a terrible grade! Do yourself a favor - find another TRS!

I do not recommend taking this professor for this course thats suppose to teach you more about religion, rather than a professor who expects you to teach yourself. You are assigned with multiple readings (4 text), assignments, etc. She tells students dont worry about grades. Professor genuinely does not care about the students and it shows.

Nothing is good enough for Ms Sheila McGinn. You will can work hours on end your homework but just get it absolutely ripped apart by her. She is very passive aggressive and will make fun of her students. Her ego is through the roof as she thinks she is always right. I dont understand why she is even a professor because she hates her students.

For a 200 level course, the work is excessive and very poorly planned out. Long and stressful waste of time. But you will learn how to cite the bible. Multiple times. So I guess its got that going for it.

The lectures have nothing to do with the assignments, and offer no insights into the course material. The feedback is nonexistant, just simply passive-aggressive snips. Multiple assignments are due daily, with little context available to assist. She suspended grades on Canvas, so we have no idea how we are even progressing at the midterm mark.

Professor gives unclear assignments, refuses to explain (and scoffs at student's who ask for clarification), and then fails her class when nobody understands what is going on. Don't take this class.

Professor McGinn does not have any empathy for students. Your best will never be good enough for her. Grades heavily on citations and how many citations you use, but doesn't give you any support on how to do these citations. Groups are used frequently in class and your grade is determined by how well the group does. Do not take her class!

told us everything we learned in HS was irrelevant and schools are not teaching us the catholic faith right. seemed to be very new church in her beliefs. seemed as though we were writing her new papers instead of learning anything. Nothing was clear even with her "detailed" very generalized instructions and took off major points. big into groups
