I loved her! She is challenging, but not too hard. And very helpful! I recommend her highly!

She was a professor who challenged even the brightest pupils. Her attention to detail was extemely helpful, and I came out of her class having learned so much. Serious students will appreciate her demand for diligence - lazystudentsneednotapply.

She's a great instructor to take from, at least for lower english. She put in a lot of effort to make sure we learned and is a good "grammar hawk" -a good trait for lower english.

If you are focused on improving your writing skills, this is the class for you. If you are looking for an easy A, or for someone to make you feel good about lousy writing, you're better off elsewhere. She's very organized, focused, clear, and detailed about the assignments, and gives good feedback.

Shelley is an excellent teacher for the student who wants to become a good writer. I would bet that everyone who is complaining about her is lazy and didn't take the class seriously. Take Shelley's class if you want to be the best of the best. She cares about her students success!

Awesome teacher for those who want to learn to write. Don't slack on assignments, she allows barely any slack on late work. Good class discussions.

Ms. Circle is a real college teacher. She expects students to behave like adults, and she doesn't mess around babysitting or pandering as so many other teachers do. She expects students to come into her classes with the skills they should have at this level. Great teacher! I learned a lot!

Nice teacher and helpful, but English 101 is just a whole lot harder than English 50. I got a C in 50 so I thought I would be okay in 101. Not! I didn't pass. If your a week writer, don't take this class.

She is not an easy teacher but I learned alot from her. I took her twice and enjoyed each class. I wouldn't take the class if you are a weak writer.

I have had Shelley twice and i think that she is a hard teacher to take, but that is because she has high expectations. She gives excellent assignments and is more helpful than people give her credit for. The problem is that the only students who seek out

She is a very intellegent women that is underestamated and misunderstood by others on a daily basis. She is a great inspiration to many of those who can imbrace her constructive criticism. Those who complain about her way of teaching I Say "Get Over It!" The world is to unfair.........

I made it through the 1st day and I survived. I confess that the impression I formed of her before even entering a foot in her class was soley based upon the comments on the following pages; and I believe that though they may be heartfelt comments, I am thanking the universe that everyone's past experiences so far arn't apparent in her teaching...

I went into this class with 28 other people. Lets just say when it was over there were only 8 people left. The highest grade in the class was a B. She was there every class period, did all the HW, and every essay and still could not get a better grade. She changed the grade scale to. If you have a 75%, that = a D in her book. You have been warned!

Fun class, fun teacher. Always willing to help students learn. Don't goof off in class, and she won't be strict.

Ms Circle is the consummate professional. If you have a desire to improve your writing skills, I encourage you to take her class. A few ratings indicated that she played favorites. That is true, she favors the students who participate and turn in their assignments. Go figure!

Most people don't like her but I think she's a good instructor. Grades hard and will show you exactly how she wants an essay written and she expects it to be that way. Homework is little and you get easy points just for bringing it to class. Only problem I have is that her voice is deafening. I had to take tylenol after the first day of class. :)

4th week into the semester and so far, so good. She's a tough grader but she'll make a writer out of you. I've had a good experience with her so far. I've learned A LOT from her in these 4 weeks.

I took her in spring 09. She wasnt so hard as most people say. She will help you until you get it. I got an A in her class.

She is a hard teacher. However, If you need to be successful in English 101, she will help you to accomplish that! I was such a horriable writer when I arrived in her class,but now I feel good about my writing. She is willing to help you on essays and one on one time. I currently have a B in her class. YOU MUST BE PRESENT EVERY CLASS TO SUCCEED!

At first I wasn't sure about this teacher but i think i was just shocked at all the work we had to complete...her class work is super easy. then she gives 3 or 4 essays throughout the semester you have to write using your textbooks. Mrs.Circle was hard but definitely got me ready for English 101 and was the reason i passed english 101 with an A!

She was extremely helpful, only if you took the initiative to look for help. She grades really toughly though! She's very specific on her grading and tests. :( Beware!

nice and easy to understand. If anyone has a problem with her it's because they are lazy. I was unfortunate enough to misplace myself in 49 she could barely teach because she was so busy telling people to stop using their cell phones

This professor is very good and she is very helpful. She always is open to her office hours and always checks her emails. She is also flexible with making appointments to get help. Her essay are average and some are easy. She is the professor who wants her students to succeed and pass. So, for students who need to take English 50, take her.

Shelley was very helpful. I took this class as a fast paced 8 week course and I still left feeling confident for Eng 101. She always had open hours and would stay after classes to edit your essays with you. She is a somewhat hard grader, but if you follow the assignment guidelines then you'll do fine. Her class really isn't as scary as it seems.

She's a great teacher, but I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone that struggles with English. She's an extremely tough grader, but she's preparing you for the next step, which for my class, the next step was 101. She's really helpful and gives great feedback. This class was mainly just essay after essay, so beware of that.

Although she is a tough grader and there is a lot of homeworkessays, i would still recommend her. she fully prepares you for the next step which is 101. i took her englihs 49 and 50 combined class so there was a lot of work in a short amount of time. im sure if it was a longer time period that her class would be a lot easier.

took this as a combined 49 and 50 class. a lot of essays. she helped explain clearly of what was expected in an essay. Fast paced class so be prepared to do a lot of work. although it is difficult it is worth doing the combined class. she really does help out a lot. i recommend taking her. Textbook needed. Must show up to class.

Ever since I took her class, I compare all other teachers to her. She will go over your papers with you, not just glancing but actually providing real helpful feedback - which you don't get from many college professors. Ultimately, she will make you a better writer. And it's an English class so yeah there's going to be a lot of reading and writing.

Circle is an AMAZING instructor! If you are lazy then you will not do good in her class. She gives up so much of her time to help with students. I suggest if she gives you an essay, you go to her for help instead of the library. She grades tough, but really gets you ready for 101. She really cares about her students, and them passing!

Ms. Circle is a great English teacher! if you want to learn how to write well take her class. She gives great feedback and preps you for Eng101. Wish she taught Eng 101

The information she teaches is moving, and she is a very caring teacher. Never hesitate to ask for help from her and she goes above for her students. Also, offers tutoring sessions with her personally. Fast-paced class, but if you put in the work you will do good.

Shes easy going teacher

One of the most moving Professors I have ever taken. Very dedicated to her students, and tried to give her attention for all. I have learned so much from taking this class! It is a very hard class because it consists of a lot of reading/writing homework. If you want to learn something this is the class for you. Amazing Professor overall!

Professor Shelley Circle is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. Each assignment she would take time to teach me how to fix my paper. She was patient, helpful, and broke down the information step by step so that there was no confusion. She always was available online for her students. I would recommend English 100 to anyone.
