I've been in college for 5 years and Hanna is my favorite! Be prepared to be swamped in homework, read several novels and pieces of literature, and quizzes on what you read. Essays every other week are mandatory. Tough grader but it's all worth it when you sit and listen to her lectures. This is a class you will not fall asleep in! Highly Recommend

I love professor Hanna! I took her AP English in highschool and was not successful, as a challenge to prove myself i took her 1B class and I loved it!! I got an A, but prepared to work hard for it! She is tough, but will make sure you can chomp through papers from other classes with an easy A. Thank you Professor, still waiting on your 1D class!

Hanna is not for those who don't wish to challenge themselves to achieve something more. She is down-to-earth and easy to talk to. Her workload may be intimidating, but she is welcoming. Honestly, I struggled in her class, but I pressed on for myself. If you are serious about academic success, she is serious about preparing you to achieve it.

I am extremely thankful I enrolled in her class! My writing skills were unorganized and lacked qualities in various aspects, but then I entered her class and I learned the fundamentals and improved on my skills! Yes, there may be a bit of work, but of course, you cannot expect to learn and achieve a skill without doing the work! Awesome Professor!

LOVE HANNA. Such a hilarious teacher who actually makes the class enjoyable. She tells you exactly what she expects in all her assignments. It's a lot of reading and writing but it was definitely manageable. She gives you multiples tries on almost everything. Her class is pretty much based graded on the effort you're willing to put in.

She does give a lot of work but don't let that stop you from taking her class! I have never liked school or English specifically but she has definitely been the best English teacher I have had. I liked her class so much that I decided to take her again for English 1B! YOU WILL NEVER GET BORED IN HER CLASS!

Professor Shelley Hanna makes an impression. Hanna is most definitely not the type of teacher to care about your excuses. Procrastinate all you want throughout the semester, but in the end youll be graded on the quality of work youve done. I received a C, because the work I did was C work. Shes not there to waste your time, so dont waste hers.

She is seriously hilarious and has a sense of humor! She doesnt take any crap, so dont PROCRASTINATE!! Stay on top of your game And you will pass! She is honestly the doctor of literature, she will can fix you into a good writer! And she gives back great feedback!

You might feel intimidated by her, but she is a great professor. works with you, she wants you to becomes a better reader and writer, gives you plenty of chances, there is alot of readinf and writitng but that is what you shloud be expecting from an english class. Plenty of extra credit and her lectures are never boring.

Professor Hanna is an amazing English teacher. If you are serious about wanting to improve your writing and analytical skills, then take her class. However, if you're looking for an easy A for credit, then don't. If you want to pass, DON'T procrastinate (it'll pile up quick) and do all the work/readings!

Your effort reflects your grade. This is a great class for actually improving your writing. Many drafts before the final draft, so you can get feedback prior to getting a grade. Only thing I disliked was the peer reviews. A peer is automatically assigned to you; don't expect them to be helpful. Allows you to make up 4 assignments total.

I'm surprised at the average rating. I think this reflects on the students more than on the teacher. Her class was hard because she requires lots of writing homework, and students that don't like that then rate her low because of it, ignoring that she is a great teacher and they probably learned more that in an easier class.

Although her class may seem intimidating at first, you will most undoubtedly get a lot of useful information. Do your work and all of the extra credit assignments and don't fall behind, because effort is your gateway to success. Prepare to read a lot and gain many useful skills. Highly recommend.

I took this class in the summer and had never worked so hard in a class before. Her work is easily doable, I took 2A with her, and the coaches helped me with my homework or assignments that were due by the end of the week. I don't know how the workload is on a 14-week class, but I took her 6-week class and she had like 7 assignments due every week.

ENG37: Only take this literature course if you're ready (or love) to read and write (3 essays, 6 full novels). Good refresher on the organization of technical essay writing and critical reading. Rather have more time to focus on my own work than waste time reviewing my peers. If I had to tell one more classmate how to write a thesis...I swear...

Professor Hanna was a great at teaching and kept the classroom focused by including a few amount of essays, giving great lectures and giving us group activities. The class is not tough as long as you pay attention, read the books given, reread your essays and rewrite.

Great professor. You won't like her if you're lazy with your schoolwork… Very helpful professor and always answers any questions for clarification.

There was a lot going on in this class. We read lots of poems, read four novels (two of them were shorter), did plenty of essays, and discussions. But I loved a lot of the literature and that made essays easier. Hanna leaves great feedback and grades not on how good you are, but how much you improve. Allows two make up assignments.

Queen had way too much to say. BUTTTTT she was a good teacher who changed everything related to how I write. I would take her again because I always had new things to learn with her guidance. Also, her son is quite a hoot!

I took her women's literature class and I would say it's a lot of reading. Definitely set aside at least 2-3 hours a day just to read the books she assigns. She has enthusiasm for the class. Class is writing heavy as well. Don't take this class if you're taking other heavy related classes. Does include good sources to readings and cares.

Took an accelerated course with this prof. and we did 4 essays total. Lots of smaller assignments but pretty easy if you manage your time wisely. She gives multiple chances to redo assignments and gives lots of feedback to get 100%. I see a lot of complaints abt AI but I didn't use AI and never got docked, so stay clean and you'll be fine.

I took Professor Hanna on a hybrid course. I have taken lots of English courses, but without a doubt she is the best English Professor I've ever had. She has expectations but grades based off of progress. Very understanding with clear instructions. There are even videos embedded into her assignments on how to complete the work. I took this professor in Spring and it has been a breeze! She gives a short quiz every week and is very clear about what is going to be on it. It's open book so it's pretty hard to fail. Great communication for an online class.

She has high expectations that are within reason. Do not use AI (she definitely checks) and you will be good. It seems all she wants is a bit of effort. One of the more personable professors I've had.

This lady is seriously so insightful. She gives multiple chances to her students if they receive a grade they don't like and she gives extra credit and is always available for office hours. Would highly recommend if you need to meet and English requirement.

In-person lectures are so worth attending. Hanna always makes room for very interesting conversations. She's very against AI (rightfully so), so just don't take her class if you don't feel like trying. Her feedback is always very helpful and as long as you show some improvement in your writing you'll be fine.

Great teacher overall. The ai policy is strict but only an issue if you're using it, she checks google doc history, so issues are solved. Lots of reading and writing, but she gives helpful feedback and replies quickly to emails. Good class if you want to refresh your essay skills and don't mind a heavy workload it is a college class, after all.

She's a wonderful professor to my class! She gives helpful feedback, allows remakes (when the time is right), and gives us many opportunities to earn extra credit. You simply have to be ready to work and learn how to manage your time. Other than that, she's a great option for an instructor, and wonderful to be around if you're well-behaved.

Professor Hanna's class is passable with proper time management. Several students complain about the amount of work given, the countless papers, and how she's heavy on AI detection. Yet, what isn't mentioned is that feedback is always given and EC is provided on different occasions. You CAN succeed if you try with meaningful effort and authenticity

She understands the difference between human writing and AI writing, isn't a tough grader, and gives out many extra credit opportunities. At first, I was scared of taking her class too, I saw all the bad ratings and was praying that they'd all be miraculously wrong.However, if you are a good student and care about your grades, this class won't be a problem at all, she's actually very funny and interesting.

Being in Professor Hanna's class is probably the best thing to do for yourself. Somehow, this powerhouse of a woman is able to teach us how to write a proper essay, while giving us life lessons for the road ahead at the same time. You learn academically and socially in her class. She truly cares for her students and their education, and it shows.

Seems like a lot but she does her best to provide a good layout to help you stay on track. If you need help just reach out. She offers plenty of extra credit and even offers make up assignments. The reading material was all interesting especially if you are into gothic literature. Definitely weird in the best way! DONT USE AI!!(trust she will know)

Hands down one of the best Professors I've had at Delta!! I 10/10 recommend her hybrid course, you learn so much. I never would've imagined walking out of English 1B with a new world view. Yes, Professor Hanna gives plenty of work, but she's lenient and provides a lot of extra credit. Just keep up and you'll be fine.

You definitely have to put the work in, but you will learn a lot. She is scary good at catching AI, so stay away from it. Despite what other ratings say, she does give second chances, so if you do get caught, own up to it, and she may let you redo the assignment.

Overall, Ms. Hana is a pretty good teacher. She might scare you in the first week, but as time goes on she is very understandable and nice. Her class taught me a lot of skills I'm going to use outside of this class.

For this class I would say that it was a positive experience for me. A negative for this class was that you would think you're done with assignments then five would get posted in one day. A positive for this class would be that I actually was able to improve my writing with this class. Overall I would take Mrs. Hanna class again.

I have taken this Professor before but for another class and chose her again. She gives a lot of feedback on the work and always responds within hours. Gives us Extra Credit assignments from time to time but will give Redo assignments half way through the semester if you get behind.

Professor Hanna knows the materials she is teaching and seems to genuinely want students to improve. She provides detailed feedback on assignments. There is a lot of reading and writing involved in the course, so I would not recommend taking it if you can't commit to spending time each week just reading for the class. Otherwise, the class is nice.

After taking Professor Hanna's English 1B class I'd say watch out for the work, don't procrastinate, and don't use AI. I never had an issue with AI in her class put she does put an emphasis on it. The class really is passable if you do the work and take advantage of what she provides, it just can be a lot at times.

Honestly, Professor Hanna's class is quite difficult, but you won't have any problem with her as long as you do the work and don't use AI. When taking Professor Hanna's class, there's a few things you're going to need to know before hand & that's essays, homework, & reading! She is so fun & an amazing teacher, she really cares about what shes teaching you. Professor Hanna is a really interesting teacher and makes literature come alive, especially with topics like the fallen woman and the monstrous feminine. There's a lot of reading each week, sometimes full stories in just a week or two, so if you stay on track, the class is manageable and worth it.

Class and Professor were overall very good she was very positive and made many jokes but did assign a big chunk of work so watch out for that. I got the grade I got because of technology problems and shes big on turning things on time, so since I couldn't turn in assignments on time I got a D.

Professor Shelly is a tough grader, but she offers many extra credit opportunities. Expect to read and write a lot. Great reading choices! You will have three essays and she will allow you to revise and resubmit if you don't like your grade. This course has a Gothic theme.

Professor Hanna provides a lot of tools and materials to do well in her class. While the workload is pretty heavy (mostly reading) she does offer up to 6 makeup assignments for any written assignments you miss. She also provides many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, so she does have a lot of grace on her students.

Professor Hanna gave me the opportunity to improve my writing and reading skills, she would always leave really good feedback on my essays, there's always room for improvement in her class and she's always there to guide her students step by step for every assignment.
