Shelley is a good professor. She can be a bit moody at times but she is pretty easy going if you follow instructions. This class was so easy, I felt like I was in high school again. If you do your work and show her that you are making an effort, you will definantly get an A.

One of the most influential instrutors. Very helpful and keeps class interesting all the time. Her mood makes class worth coming to and the work flow isn't anything to complain about. If your going to take English 101, make sure she's your professor.

This was the best class ever! I tried to get into her ENG 102 class this semester and was very disappointed when I found out the afternoon class had been canceled. She's a great teacher and very easy to get along with.

Shelley is a knowledgable and friendly person who not ony knows her field well but knows how to teach and relate to students. There are some people who might consider her moody or a little on the eccentric side. To them I say she is an English professor, a writer, and not a robot. Love her and her class! Attend!

my most interesting and fun class. she is very very blunt and when you talk to her its like talking to a friend. you dot need to watch what you say at all and loves to hear any kind of feedback from you. she give out 4essays in a sem. and will drop your lowest score at the end. One of the coolest teachers i've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is very down to earth and very funny. Great class. Not difficult if you turn in all of your essays. There is never a boring moment in her class. She jumps around, sings, yells, and makes English interesting.

AMAZING!! Shelley will make you laugh throughout the entire class, but her laughing actually helped me remember things in class. Just make sure you turn in your essays, and you will do just fine. She will sing, dance, yell, and even make wierd noises when she thinks. She is a great teacher and I would take her class again if I could.

She's a great teacher I didn't do to well because I didn't think anything of the essays and I didn't try my hardest. But I recommend her if you are down with a teacher who will make you laugh and make you get involved in the class. I had fun in this class. She's a really sweet lady. It was only hard for me because in 101 i didn't have to really do anything in my papers...but she actually grades them how she says she will. She's really understanding and helps out if you don't know what you're doing. Definitely good.

She is a great teacher that actually responds to your papers as well as grades them. It's an easy class if you can take criticism and make yourself better. I got a B+ because i procrastinated the research paper..I know.

Very helpful teacher. This was one of the easier online classes I have taken. Not due to work load but the helpfulness of the teacher. I have "comma issues," and she gave me the tools to overcome it. Read the essays, and respond to them and you will do just fine.

She is a lot of fun but teaches you about life and Enlgish/Reading at the same time. I took 2 other English classes with her and loved it. You must do the work and be present to learn but she is understanding as well. Do your job and you will get an A.

A little out there and a little bit loopy, but you definitely learn a lot about what you read and how to write essays in this class. She thoroughly explains and encourages you to ask questions if you are confused.

She is a good professor and does grade everything. I would not recommend her class if you do not enjoy history. There was way too much historical reading. I really didn't learn much, I just did what I had to do to get a good grade.

This class is one I will remember for a long time. Its not your ordinary English course. You learn so much about life, and history. The course consists of four major essays, and a research paper. The professor knows her craft, and she is downright hilarious. I loved her carefree attitude, and the way she grades. It makes you try harder.

Just do the work and you will get a good grade. You get to read some funny stories. 4 journal entries, 4 essays, 1 final research paper.

EXCELLENT professor! She went over everything in detail of what she wanted. Papers were not so difficult if you read the readings. Attendance is not mandatory, but very helpful to go to every class. I would highly recommend this professor!!

Super hilarious. Hard to take her seriously but she really knows her stuff. She just has to lay off the self put downs. It's extremely off-putting since she's a wonderful person

This was a fairly easy class. I took it online, the 4 week summer class. 3 essays, a few postings, and a research paper. NO TETS!! Extremely fair grading and consistent feedback on writings. I'm glad I took her class.

It's an easy class if you don't mess around. There is one discussion or one journal prompt per week, on a rare occasion there are both but the topics are never difficult. There are 3 easy essays as well as a research paper that serves as the final. If you get less than a B you're seriously just lazy.

She's passionate about what she teaches and will help you understand what she's saying. Three essays and a final research paper. Takes attendance randomly, so be careful. A great teacher with fun stories, although she can be loud and swear a lot. I kept a rough track and she swore roughly eighty times over the semester. Not easy, but not hard.

LOVE LOVE LOVE her! She is loud and not like any other prof. in the college. The class is easy if you do the work and participate in the decisions. 3 essays and one final paper for the class.

If you want to learn how to write a solid essay with proper format and works cited, take Prof. Kelly. If you want to take an English class that expects you to perform critical reading and engage in interesting classroom discussions, take Prof. Kelly. If you want to take an English class that is easy and requires little effort, take someone else.

This class was amazing. She really makes you think about what you are reading. The papers are fun because you can pick from a few subjects. She is hilarious as an instructor. The final paper she helps a lot with if you come to class and ask her questions. One of the best English instructors I had.

Shes one of those cool people who just so happens to be a teacher. No quizzes, No test. Jest a few essays and a research paper (on a topic of our choice). We mostly had deep stimulating conversations in class that helped you change the way you think so that you could write better essays. Shes a really awesome professor.

Take her. She'll make you think. Go to class and no late stuff and you'll get an A.

She's honestly really knows what she is talking about. She is a really good writer, and she tells you straight up what she's looking for. Not the easiest grader, but do what she says and you'll get by. She is pretty funny too. TALK IN HER CLASS. She "likes that sh*t". Oh yeah, she cusses a lot.

Anybody that doesn't pass this class, should probably look into something other than perusing college. Absolutely one of the best teachers I have ever had. She doesn't make you write about what other people think, she gives you a chance to express your own thoughts. I LOVE HER!!!! You can say anything in this class. Absolutely fantastic!!!

She is loud, funny, engaging, cusses. Her classes are exciting and interesting every time. She gave 3 essays (assigned topics) and 1 research paper (choose your own). Readings too. Bad writer? Tough grader. Good? Easy! Attendance isn't mandatory (technically) but she changes syllabus info in class, not email. NO LATE WORK.

She makes good use of the textbook assigned to us. you have to write responses to the articles she has you read, and the questions she asks really makes you think about how to respond. She also gives good feedback on how to better structure your essays.

She's amazing! Four essays which are easy. She lets you choose one of the topics. Amazing in class discussions about the assigned reading. She does give assigned readings but they're short and fun. All you have to do is read them and you can choose to discuss. Great feed back on essays. Loved her personality, you'll learn a lot!

Class was very easy. Took English 101, and basically had a couple of short stories to read, ( you will need the book) which followed with a couple questions. A couple of simple essays, and that basically explains the course. I took the online course BTW.. Easy class, and good teacher

All you have to do is read a few short stories, and then write a 2-3 page paper about it. The final research paper is only 5-7 pages.

Shelley Kelly is hands one of the best professors at CSN. She is loud and witty, but very intelligent and makes you open up your eyes to the real world during class discussions. She gives three essays and a research paper but is very clear on what she expects. Take her class if you want to actually learn.

3 short essays(2-3 pgs), 1 final research essay (4-6 pgs). Readings are interesting, but the lectures really bring the readings to life. Prof Kelly has great though-provoking discussions that will help you see beyond the basics. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I recommend it. Fun class!

If you're easily offended by critical feedback, don't take this course. If you're interested in bettering your abilities in English (i.e. writing) take it. Professor Kelly was very strict with guidelines on papers and writing assignments, stick to them. Easy A if you want it and participate in your own success, if not, you'll fail.

Kelly is an amazing professor; she is a little out-there in her method of teaching, but she is very fun and has a lot of energy! short readings and only the essays matter for your grades so work hard on them! She doesn't take attendance but recognizes participation. Overall great class, I would take it again in a heart beat!

Don't take this class if you're shy. Participating in conversation is a must. At first I didn't like her, but she's actually very cool. She's a little intimidating. The class is easier than most English classes because she doesn't want long papers.

I took the four-week online class in summer of 2017 and it was incredibly easy. You just have to do the work. There are no tests, just 4 essays (three opinion essays and one research paper). There are short reading you have to do every week to answer a couple questions. She explains everything you need to do. I would highly recommend this class.

Half of the class consisted on a discussion of short readings. Make sure to participate. Grade consisted of essays and online homework. Make sure to do the homework, bc it can drop your grade by 1 or 2 letter grades if you don't. She is a fair grader. Also!!! The textbook stories can be found posted online by universities or schools. Don't buy it!

Professor Kelly is an amazing teacher and really cares about the work she does. She will tell you exactly what you're doing wrong and tell you how to fix it without sugar coating anything.

I really enjoyed this class. Actually, this English class was the only English class that I have ever actually liked attending. I feel like she made me a better writer. The tools she gives us for the last paper is gold and I will save it for future class papers. If you read, sit in the front, and speak your mind, youll have fun.

She was my absolute favorite teacher I have ever had! Shes tough but it makes you push yourself even more. I highly recommend taking her class!

just show up and do the work. the only thing is that as the semester goes on she does get tougher on grading the essays

Professor Kelley changed my whole outlook on college and writing. Her words have stuck with me, which is what brought me here to leave this review 3 years later. The best part about this class was the peer review and discussion she conducted about students' essays. Lovely lady.. Get in her class!

Professor Kelly is the most memorable instructor I took while attending CSN! She is great at what she does and makes the classroom environment fun. I took her for both Eng 102 and Eng 240. She managed to teach the material in a manner that didn't seem straight out of the text book.

Professor Kelly is tough, and I mean that in the best way possible. She pushes you to say some ish in her class! For every essay, you outline and turn in the printout by Wednesday. Journals and Essays are your main source of grades. I'm taking her 102 next semester and I would recommend you take her if you want to appreciate English.

Professor Kelly is something else. Attendance isn't mandatory but everything is done in class. She doesn't post much on Canvas. Total of four essays but they were really easy. She assigns a piece to read throughout the week and then discusses it in class. Journals are due on Sundays. She is very blunt and some may not like this but she is not bad.

You need to buy the whole book with activation, her instructions are clear and straightforward. Assignments are one week of reading & an essay (she calls it journal) then another week assigns readings and then a discussion. Midterm is a lot of short answers and essays. Final exam is an easy essay about narrative essay where you tell your own story.

I took this class in the year of 2018. Lectures were engaging and easy to understand. Class discussions are important to succeed in this class. The professor conducts safe and insightful discussions. Don't be afraid to speak your thoughts. This will help you in the writing process. Good luck!

Professor S.L. Kelly is such an easy going teacher! Her homework criteria is very light and straightforward. If you are looking to have a class during a semester without an overabundance of writing or reading I would recommend her.

The work is straight forward, the way she has her canvas set up is upsetting but if you make an effort to look into the assignments everything is pretty easy.

She is a really good professor! You have around 2 assignments a week very easy both assignments are under 250 words. There are a few essays that have to be at least two pages she provides an outline and clear instructions. I would really recommend taking her class!!!!
