Very helpful teacher. She gives lots of examples and has lots of hand-outs that are similar to test questions. She isn't big on being late but she is such a nice teacher you feel bad for being late. EASY CLASS, WHERE YOU WILL ACTUALLY LEARN! A+++ TEACHER!

She is a great teacher. I made an A on everything because she taught so well. It isn't an easy A, you have to go to class and work for it, but she will help with anything and is VERY clear!!! Wish I could take her for STATS!

Ms. Russell is one of the best math teacher in Santa Fe in my opinion. She explains everything very clearly in order to let students understanding them. She is also very helpful after class if you have any questions. Her tests are even easier than homework and lab. Take her class and you will get A.

Shelley is the teacher to take. I tried taking her for every single math class that she taught. She helps you in anyway possible, tries to help you pass, and she let's you make up work. Her test can be a lil ruff sometimes, but she teaches so good, that you'll understand. Well recommended for an"A"

I was always running aways from this course but it finally caught up with me. Mrs. Russell made it all worth while. She teaches you in a way that you can learn the subject and she grade's fairly (to your advantage all the time). I took it in the summer and it was not intense as some people said it would be, because of Russell's teaching style.

Professor Russell is a perfect example of how a teacher should be. She takes the time to make sure everyone knows what is going on before moving on to something new. She is very clear with her lectures. I highly recommened her.

I think Shelley is a great teacher. If you are not so hot in math and have to take College Alg. take her! She is very helpful and makes the class as minimal as she can! TAKE HER!

She's one of the best math teachers out at sfcc. Math is so hard for me, and I ended up with a B in the class. Shes very fair when it comes to gradding. I would definitly take her, if Ihad to do this class again, she makes math seem so easy. With her style of teaching, anyone can catch on and learn. Just study!!!

For those who are really bad at math i would recommend Russel.she is the greatest math teacher.she makes hard math promlems easy to understand.

Ive taken this professor for 3 maths: MAT1033, MGF1107, & MAC1105. Ms. Russell is the best math teacher ASFCC. She explains everything very clearly,and she is very helpful after class if you need help. Before tests she explains everything and it seems easier than homework. I say Thanks to her for being understanding and a patient teacher.

She is good at teaching this class, she gives plenty of oppurtinuty for questions to make sure everyone understands the material. She gives you in class work on what is being taught to give you a chance to know what you are doing. She is available for questions in her office. She uses your attendance as points on her tests. She is good.

Take Russell. She's teaches so well and is nice as well as patient. I've hated math all my life and I finally have confidence in the subject.

Great Professor. Russell cuts right to the point, and doesn't waste time during class. She teaches pretty fast, but her tests are easy. The only negative thing is that she's a tough grader.

She's a great teacher, the class goes by fast and you learn a lot. A absolutely hated Algebra after taking MAC1033 but now I like it! Her labs are very helpful for the tests and she never puts things on the test you havent went over! I wish I could take her for EVERY math!

Shelly was fantastic. The class is pretty easy, and she is forgiving of a few absences. If you can pay attention in class, and do the required homework, you should earn at least a B. I got an A and was very happy. Highly reccomended.

Kind of a bore, but she's clear, simple, and concise. You will have homework due every class period and your attendance points do count (off your tests!). Easy material but she keeps you busy.

She teaches the material in a way that you completly understand it, and if not you can ask questions and she will help you understand with out making you feel stupied-i have had teachers that do that to students-math teachers espically, but not her! Mrs.Russell is an excellent. I have always struggled with math. She made it make sense. She is always available. Use her office hours. She is patient and always helpful. She does not play favorites. If you consider dropping, see her first. She changed my mind. she gives extra credit for attendance and homework. Remember: Attendance matters.

Sensible with work. HW is 5 pts if completed (no matter how many you get wrong), and worksheet is graded but only counts the 6 highest(out of 8). Very nice! Very laid back. Very clear in teaching. DO NOT take this class in the morning!!! You will nod off or not make it!! Early in the morning it is very boring if you do not like this stuff. Later in the day I cannot say if it would have went better or not, but I expect so.

Best math teacher Ive ever had. Im terrible at math and have never understood it as well as I have with her. I took her for College Algebra and took her again for Topics in Math. She explains things very clearly and step by step. If you are bad at math I highly recommend her!

This teacher was awesome! I took this course last semester and had to drop it b/c the teacher was horrible and I didnt have the time to teach myself. This class however, is such a breeze! I got 100 on our last two test. I took it Spring A, so it was only a month long. Take her! She is good, knows how to teach, and knows what she is teaching!

shes one of the best math teachers ive had in SF, i took her in summer n didnt do too good in her class cus she went too fast for me, but i might take her again in fall, i didnt even have to use the book cus she'd write a lot of notes on the board n that was enogh for me, nice, laid back n explain everythin with details, hope fall shes slower!

Mrs. Russell is a great teacher. Even over summer the class is easy. She gives great lectures just take notes and ask questions if you have any. She is willing to work with you. You can put little to no extra time into the class and still pull an A.

Wonderfully clear directions, she makes things straight to the point and answers any questions multiple times. Very good delivery of the material, makes it easy and breaks complexity into simple steps.

A good teacher...Assigns homework that must be turned in, but only checks to make sure you did it. Answers don't have to be right, gives you plenty of time to complete. Assigns worksheet labs with very little problems that are graded for the right answer. Also gives you few tests, but not a hard class. I would recommend taking her.

Excellent teacher. She is so thorough during lectures that I usually understood everything the first time. Not much personality but pay attention b/c her humor is subtle. Great teacher if you struggle in math. The book we used was really easy to understand too and she used it a lot but I think they are changing books

Shes good BUT very monotone & I felt she went through things very fast. Im not a math person &it was hard for me to keep up w/ her. When you have questions she will try & find another way to explain it so you understand. HW is collected but plenty of time to do it & not graded. You use the book ALOT. Good but not what I was expecting.

She is not the most outgoing teacher but she explains the material well and she goes over things 2 make sure everyone understand.Attendence is mandatory(it counts as part of your test grade,10 pts of the test is based on attendence) so if u make 100% on ur test u get a 90% and if u attendend class everyday u get the other 10 pts.I got an A easily.

A very good teacher. She is very clear about explaining the material.There are extra points given on each test if you attend all of the classes however, the tests are pretty hard so watch out for that. I would take her again for future math classes.

She isn't very fun but the best at explaining things. Tests are hard, but 10% is attendance. If you miss a couple days, it's harder to understand. Ask her questions if you need to, shes helpful. She will give you a couple assignments for homework,to have done by the test. Answers are always in the back of the book & she just checks that you did it.

This teacher is awesome. i've never been good at math but she's always very clear and consistent when explaining things and is very patient when answering questions in class. she adds points to tests for your attendance so come to class every day. i highly recommend her to anyone who is not so good at math. her clear direct way of teaching works!

This was the easiest math class I've taken since high school! Russell is a great teacher, she always makes everything very understandable and is willing to answer any questions someone might have. First A I've made in college math!

Had taken this course w/ a different prof & REALLY struggled. Not like that at all w/ Russell. She is an awesome teacher! She gives probs. in class just to make sure you get it. Do every HW & it equates to a 100% test grade. If you have a legit reason for missing class, she's very understanding. Easy class- don't take it w/ anyone else!! :)

Best math teacher I have ever had! 4 tests plus a final. She gives a review sheet with every type of problem that will be on the test. No trick problems. For every day you are in class you get a point on your test. Take her Spring A. The class is only about a month long and goes by really fast! Test every week and a half so material doesnt pile up.

The best math teacher ever!! I usually have a difficult time with math but Mrs. Russell makes it all make sense. Explains new concepts well and relates them to real world examples. I took her for both 1106 and 1107 because she is very clear and makes math easy. She actually teaches, and does't assume you know everything already. Wish I'd had her for MAC 1105! Easy A.

Attendance mandatory to recieve 10 extra points on test. Test fair... If you understand material and good at math, test are a piece of cake! The BEST professor at SF, she cares about her students and wants everyone to pass. Homework and quizzes but all online and not too much work! Everyone should take her. Wish we had more teachers like her!

Wonderful professor, generally I cannot say enough about how she's made a formerly C math student into someone who can not only understand concepts but is excited to learn! If you can, definitely take Prof Shelley's class. it's a decision you will not regret.

I made an account just to say how amazing this teacher is. She really goes out her way to make sure her students are understanding the criteria. Her test are easy- JUST TAKE THE NOTES THAT SHE WRITES IN CLASS AND STUDY THEM. Also, if you want to do well on the test, show up to class because you get more points on the test for being there. Very good teacher. She gives you one point on your test for every day that you're present with ten days in between each test. That's an entire letter grade and should make you want to take her already. Not the most enthusiastic teacher, but gets her point across very accurately. Reviews before each test and the tests are 8/10 on difficulty.

This is the best math class I've ever been in, and she is definitely the best teacher I've ever had. Not just at SFC, but anywhere! She can move through things pretty quick sometimes, but she always waits a little after class to answer an questions. My recommendation for her is so high, a scale from 1-5 just doesn't cut it. Prof. Shelley is great!

I dropped STATS and picked up this class. Best thing I have ever done. Goes over a little of everything and pretty easy. If it's not easy, the teacher will make sure your one the same page. 1 point added to test for everyday your in class. Great teacher and easy class.

Very good professor, she was the clearest math prof. I have ever had. She's nice, and that is all you need to know. She won't make things complicated, but rather right to the point. This is how you do it, and this is what it will look like.

Very clear, no textbook needed, gives point for attendance but won't care if you're absent. Took hybrid course w/ math lab ($80 program). Two hours of math lab per week (5 points per week and can be made-up). I recommend her. She's monotone, but crystal clear in everything she explains and will repeat as many times as you need. Earned an A.

I really liked this teacher. She is clear when she explains things. She said she was monotone but I do not believe that actually mattered. She was always pleasant. Prompt grader. She was open to questions, and approachable. There was some group work, 2? worksheets before each test (we had four tests), so we were able to get to know other students.

This is a professor that everyone over looks, however she is better than most. She lets her class out early when teaching 1033 so they get extra lab time in and she hands out packets with problems instead of making you write down all the notes in a binder/folder on plain paper. Recommened

She is a very good professor. She is so clear about what students have to study to get a good grade. She let me do a Re take . Now I'm taking pre calculus and I'm doing so well because her class was so good.

Awesome professor. Very helpful, clear in her instructions, gives a lot of homework but it helps a lot. Plus, the homework can be turned in late for some credit. Grades tests and homework very quickly. She is never late and doesn't freak out if you sometimes are.

This professor is as solid as any math teacher will get. She always lets you out early and her tests are laid out for you in class with her review sheet, memory sheets, or stated by her. She takes attendance at the end of class so there's no BSing, but she prepares you well and is willing to help anyone who needs it.

One of my favorite professors at Santa Fe. She is clear and concise in her teaching, and gives you everything you need to be successful. Do MyMathLab, go to class, especially on review days, and you will get an A+. Because the final is held by the Department, it is pretty tough, so prepare for that. All in all, great professor, awesome class.

For someone like me who isn't good at math, she is the perfect teacher. She makes it so that everything she teaches is easy and understood. I've never had a better teacher when it comes to learning material especially when taking an accelerated course.

I have had her for two semester. She really knows how to break things down for you and shows you how to use the graphing calculator. My only complaint is that she can be very boring. If you are a person who falls asleep in class easily, I would not recommend. If you seriously want to learn math the easy way, than take her! Classes go fast!

She is very nice and will let you ask any question without making you feel stupid. She makes it hard to fail. All I wish is she would learn how to speak proper English and stop saying 'um' after every other word.

I recommend to take this class or any math on campus with Professor Russell, if you hate math and don't understand the formulas that you need to know take her! She made things more clearer than I have ever known. And several group projects, but they are pretty easy to do! I recommend Professor Russell to anyone!

Professor Russell is a great teacher, although sometimes her lectures seem to drag on for a while. Material is pretty easy to learn is you have any common sense. Class has 3 tests, and a homework assignment every week (super easy). She is very monotone, and does not joke often in class. but if something funny comes up, she will join in.

Mrs. Russell does a lot of in-class group assignments, in-class quizzes that count toward grades in math-lab, gives clear instructions and gives opportunity for extra credit on all in-class test. I would definitely recommend her to any student who is looking to take college Allegra.

Shelley Russel is an amazing professor. I'm taking her again for MGF.1107 for credit, but I built my schedule around her class because she is AMAZING. She will take time to help you understand the material and is available daily. I never cared much for this website, but I made an account specifically so students would know just how awesome she is

Professor Russel presents good notes, lectures are clear, and shows you how to use the calculator. She is willing to go the extra mile to help anyone that needs it. She gives extra credit. I certainly recommend Professor Russel.

Shelley Russell is a valuable asset to the math dept. at Santa Fe. I am horrible at math and I passed with an A. It is not like your typical math course and she makes it fun and easy. The only way to fail is pure laziness. Textbook is a must. Homework everyday if it's the short course but it's not overwhelming. HIGHLY recommend her. Very nice lady.

Prof. Russell is a great teacher simply because her class is straight forward. This class is and her MAT1106 class is something I highly recommend to those not needing to take a higher math. It's interesting, fun at times, and easy as long you you always go to class because the material moves fast. Don't be put off by the nightly hw, its a breeze.

She is every clear and precise which is needed with any mathematics course. I can't stand professors who complicate something so simple. She drops your lowest homework's and quizzes. Gives good study guides and knows what she is talking about. I was very disappointed when I found out she doesn't teach Pre-Calc. Take her if you can!

Everything was very easy to comprehend. The pace is quick if you take a half-semester, you need to show up on time and every day, and you will have homework daily but it's worth it. It seemed like the students who were recently returning to school after many years out of school struggled a bit but I and other recent high school graduates did well.

She says 'um' WAY too much, but she's a good teacher. The best thing i liked was that she does some of the homework and the tests in class, on paper.

Such an easy class. Got out early almost every day and she makes everything so simple to follow. I took this class because I was tired of math and it's a nice break. We seriously colored the other day. She teaches concepts you use in real life. An awesome teacher all around.

My whole life I have been an extremely poor math student, but Prof Russell was AMAZING! Not only did I do extremely well in the class, but I actually enjoyed doing the math! For the first time in my life I feel I have a strong understanding of the material - I even tutored other kids! Lectures are quick & crystal clear; often got out 10+ mins early

I'm horrible at math, but I had such an easy time in this class. It was all so easy and I barely had to study or do the homework. She just checks to see if you've done a few of them. Don't miss a day though or you may end up confused. Don't bother buying the textbook. Just take pictures of it.

Prof. Russell is awesome. I'm good at math so algebra was a cake walk but if you struggle with the subject this is the professor to take.

AMAZING! isn't even a strong enough word to describe Professor Russell. Math is my absolute worse subject and has always been a challenge for me with each teacher I took. I made my first A in this class and I would definitely take her again! she provides so much help and extra little points that add up which makes it impossible to fail the class.

Struggled through math my whole life, failed College Algebra last semester- passing my tests and doing well on the homework. She's a great teacher. She's slow and very clear so you can understand the material.

Professor Russel is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed. She will walk around the class during group work on handouts and correct you on areas that are incorrect. She does collect these group handouts as well. Her tests are relatively easy.

One of the most helpful instructors I have had. A really good teacher for math challenged students. She is willing to work with you outside of class and will work with your schedule if you're going to miss a test or homework. Take her!

She is an excellent teacher, I just wish I was better at Math, because she is an excellent teacher.

Beyond exceptional!

Professor Russell is an awesome instructor!!!! She cares a great deal about each of her students. Her lessons are super easy to learn. I took the Fall A course, and did very well. In fact, most students did well! Since every lecture is so informative, I would not recommend anyone to miss class. I would definitely take any class she teaches!

I love her so much!! She's straight to the point, gives you notes on what you need to learn, worksheets with exactly what you need to learn, and she gives you a review sheet before the test with exactly what the test is going to be like. She's a really good teacher, I've never been good at math but I am booming through this class, have a B so far!

Amazing teacher! I took this class Fall A Monday-Thursday. She's super clear, and thoroughly answers any questions you have. Highly recommended for anyone.

If math isn't your strong suit, take Russell! It's not an easy A since you still have to put in the work but her lectures and assignments give you the best chance to understand the material. There are 4 tests that she gives extra credit on based on attendance and homework. She drops the 4 lowest homework grades, 2 quizzes, & 2 in-class worksheets.

Best professor by far I ever encountered. She is is easy grader and make sure you understand the lecture before you leave the class. I would take her for Stats if I had the option to.

Professor Russell is the best math professor I have yet taken in college! She is patient, kind, understanding, and extremely helpful. I advise anyone who takes her class to be present every day. Her lectures are quick and easy to understand. I would definitely take her class again, if presented the opportunity! She's awesome!!!

I don't know if I've ever rated a professor before receiving a final grade, but I feel compelled to do so in this case. I got a C+ in intermediate algebra and I feared entering college algebra, but Professor Russell has been great. We have two tests left and I could still fail this class, but it'll be my fault if that happens. She prepares us.

BY FAR the best math professor i have ever had. ive had trouble with math all my life and i passed mac1105 on the first try thanks to her(took mat1033 3x btw) she's clear and thorough in her lectures, in other words she breaks everything down barney style, which is helpful being someone who struggles with math! register early her classes fill fast

I LOVE this professor. This is my third time taking college algebra and I am passing with a B. She is extremely helpful and the way she teaches is incredible. If you struggle with math I HIGHLY recommend.

Shes help you with anything youre not sure of, basically goes over and review exactly whats on the test so you know what to study for. Take her shes the best professor Ive had at Santa Fe

Ms. Russell is a wonderful teacher. She explains everything very clearly and she always tell you what is going to be on the exam. Also, she pays attention to every student in class. So, it is imposible to fail this class with her.

Professor Russell is amazing. I'm terrible at math and I made an A in this class. She gives informative lectures and clearly explains how to solve problems. She also makes herself available outside of class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't miss any classes, you receive two extra credit points on tests. Take her if you can!

I was very skeptical about taking college algebra, but her class was super easy. Before all of the test she provides a study guide and reviews over the material. There is no reason you shouldn't get an A in her class. If you do need extra help she will take her time to help you.

The best professor for math, because she goes straight to the point and she tells you how, why, what. She is a very patient person. She adds points to the exam when you have perfect attendence and gives in class assignments.

She is AMAZING. If you have to take College algebra, TAKE THIS CLASS. I have always been horrible at math and hated it until she was my prof. She gives amazing test reviews before each of the 4. I usually get her homework done within an hour and theres only one assignment after each class. Shes so nice, and answers emails & is in her office.

Professor Russell's class was very enjoyable. She does a good job at explaining things, however she works at a very quick pace. Math does not come easy to me, and she was willingly to help me do whatever it takes to pass.

Shes a great teacher and her teaching pace is good. She will answer any questions you ask. Her homework schedule is weird but she lets you turn them in late. Tests and Quizzes are not hard. She is by far my top 2 favorite math teachers.

I usually struggle with math, but she made learning everything so easy. She goes over clear examples of how to do everything and the MyMathLab homework is a lot harder than her actual tests. She also lets you turn in homework late and lets you work in class in groups. Awesome teacher, probably the best math teacher I've ever had.

Professor Russell is by far the best math teacher I've ever had!! Super great lectures, and relatively easy homework. Gives extra credit for exams and also will review material before tests. I've never been particularly good at math but she made the material very very easy to understand. If you get a chance to take her class you'll learn a lot!!

I have never considered myself good at math but Professor Russell makes math very clear. You can earn up to 5 extra credit points per test. Study the green booklet it is very helpful on test. I actually found her lectures interesting! TAKE HER!

Professor Shelley is amazing , she gave extra credits and help you out always that you have a question.

Prof. Shelley is an amazing teacher. She was recommended to me and I HIGHLY recommend her to you! She explains things so you can understand it, and will help you if you need it. I get test anxiety often, but she explains the tests and material so well, I was confident going into each test. Don't miss a class and take notes, you'll do great!

I would definitely recommend taking her class! She explains the material very well in class and gives students many opportunities to ask questions or to seek help either with her or with our class tutor. There is a lot of homework but it helped make me understand the material more.

If you don't miss class from the start of the lesson to the test you get 2 extra credit points. During the test you can ask her if you got 1 question of your choice right. Do the homework you get a 100.

Professor Russel is great with students. She focus on making math a very interesting class. She explains everything in class, always open to questions. Her grades are reasonable and homeworks are fairly easy if you go to class and paty attention to her explanations.

I was never good at math until I took professor Russell. She makes it easy to learn. She has a lot of office hours and will answer your emails fairly quick. If you put forth the normal amount of effort that a math class requires you should do quite well. 10/10 would recommend!

This was my third and final attempt at College Algebra. I sought out the highest recommended professor at the school and that was Prof. Russell. First impression was that she was a little monotone and hard to read, but by the end of the course I saw why she was so highly thought of. Study her booklet as they are very similar to tests. Made an A!

Great teacher! I struggle with math and I worked HARRRD to pass this class. If you need help, she's willing to help you and I really appreciated that. Sam was our tutor for her class and he saved my behind. He was soooo patient with me. I finished with a C only because I was in a bad accident around exam time. She's awesome!

Straight to the point and she gives easy to understand notes. Limited amount of absences. She gives you extra credit that is used towards your exams. Classwork is done in groups and homework is due every week online. She's a very professional professor and takes her work seriously.

Professor Russell makes college algebra incredibly easy to understand. I failed the class when I took it with a different professor, I now have an A with Prof. Russell. She makes the subject matter easy to understand. She offers plenty of extra credit points for her tests. As long as you show up, you should get an A in this course.

Listen, this is the best Professor on Santa Fe's campus. She will take time to help you and explain whatever you need. She actually watches you do some of the classwork and correct you so she knows you understand and get the material. This lady is gods gift on earth! I wish she taught MGF1107 this semester.

I had her over zoom and she is by far the best online math teacher ever. She also answers my emails at like 11pm and her tests are pretty easy as long as you keep up. The home work problems have options to walk you through them. I would definitely take her for every math class if I could.

She is the BEST!!!! I took her class on zoom, and it was great! she made her lectures clear & took her time explaining if you needed extra help. she also had zoom study groups the nights before the test(awesome!) she understood how we have lives and other classes. attendance and HW gives you extra credit on test, and homework isn't too bad.

I had a hybrid class. If you attend the week of exams you get 5points added to the exam. She also offers an extra study review the weekend leading up to the exam. There was a few breakout sessions in zoom for student engagement. This is a great overview class. Certainly did not find it stressful to have this semester.

Professor Russell is one of the best math teachers I have had. She is awesome! She goes above and beyond to help you understand the material being taught. I highly recommend her, so if you need to take a math she teaches, choose her! You won't regret it. She gives extra credit for your test if you have good attendance.

She is very helpful and she doesn't mind doing private lessons. If you do all the homeworks and come to all of the meetings, she gives you extra points on your test. Love her!

Very nice and will take the time to explain a problem if anyone is confused. The tests are just like the homework so there is no confusion with random problems. I took this class online only, but still had no issues and the material is clear.

TAKE HER FOR ANY MATH COURSE!! Very down to earth and cares about your grades- She takes time for each student's question in our zoom class & explains concepts thoroughly. I didnt get an A in this course simply because math is not my strong subject and I could've studied more, so that is on me. She works especially with students who struggle!

One of the best professors ever! Lots of extra credit designed to encourage students to practice and attend lectures. Skillful at explaining the material in a way that is concise. Her reviews cover every single thing that will be on the tests. The speed in which she grades and responds to emails will have you wondering if she is part machine!

Test reviews OP. TONS extra & partial cred. Lightning fast grading/emails. Some complain she's monotone but it's not comedy. It's math. She's the GOAT.

I took her virtual hybrid course (zoom) and it was great. Homework was manageable and she was a great teacher. I would recommend her to others for topics math before taking stats, to really grasp the concepts. Clear syllabus and expectations.
