This was an online, pre-req class I took where we met once a week. Dont buy/rent a book ahead, she asked us to get the MacMillan subscription which is $75 and mandatory. A lot of people had issues with this program, half way through the semester class shrunk. You will read a lot, presentation heavy and complicated grading.
Very nice and approachable professor considering it was an online class. Lots of thought-provoking discussions which made the course material all the more interesting especially when applying concepts to the weekly assignment questions. Would send video lectures as necessary and gave great feedback to improve one's work in the future. Take her!
By far, the WORST prof I've ever had at CCSF. That's saying a lot. Sometimes, we've waited 4 weeks weeks to have assignments graded and have received very little feedback on assignments. Very disorgaznized and confuses the content of her classes often. Assignment heavy, which is ironic judging that she can't seem to grade anything. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Very tough grader, and you don't learn much from her.
Total online class, no any feedback from her for your assignments. Most grade are dependent on your peer. At least 800 words writing each week. Exam are not that hard but ready to take about 4 hours reading for the each assign chapters.
Great teacher class was nice and easy relatable. Reccommend anyone to take her class shes approchable via zoom and very nice. The class was online and as long as you do the work you will pass with an excellent grade. There wasnt alot of reading and the chapters were interested and straight to the point.
My Professor Dr. Shelly Collins is amazing! She gives extra credits, and most importantly gives you a grades that you deserved.
PSYCH 1 Online class. Chapters of online book are long half of the information in the chapters is irrelevant. Would have liked teacher to provide feedback on weekly discussion so grades could be improved. Test seem to be not really based on study guides. Would have like the teacher to create test instead of it being from the online book.
The class overall was good but be prepared to read a chapter every week and manage your time well. The assignments are posted on the weekends and discussion posts and peer reviews are always due on Thursday. Then comments are due on Sunday. So I recommend spending your time wisely in this class.
participation is a must. take the time need to do the work and use your time wisely. this course requires at least 10 hours a week but may take up many more hours.
ONLINE class meaning lots of reading and assignments, either discussion or peer review, a practice quiz ,not to hard usually around 10 questions, and responding to classmates .Things are usually due THRS and SUN. Exams are from the practice quizzes & readings, gives study exams. Students should be able to get A and B, if you do all the work.
This Psych class was very engaging and covered topics that are relevant to today's society. I learned a lot through the modules such as gender identity and the realities people face with mental disabilities. Also, professor Shelly Collins Rawle was a pleasant teacher to work with. She explained everything thoroughly and was always present.
The teacher was really pleasant. The class was really interesting. The subject is overall interesting! I would like to suggest with it being Covid, we can be allowed a few more extra assignments and it is done via video. I would like to get to know other students. The facial expression and tone help me understand the post in the discussions.
I took the Psych 25 online. The class is very straightforward and easy to get the hang of once you get into your study grove. There is weekly discussion and peer reviewed almost every week so it feels like double work at times. The only thing I would suggest to the teacher is probably have less peer reviews and maybe a group project instead.
Very organized! But some resources were not scholarly/not appropriate for college course. Very little feedback beyond points- professor was not active in discussion forums, did not provide written feedback on the (extensive) amount of written assignments we had to do.
Professor Collins was always responsive if you have any issues or help with the class. The exams are straightforward forward and i love how easy this class was because the material wasn't difficult. I think she provides great communication and her projects were always easy and engaging. Highly recommend her.
I think mostly she is cool with everything, It would be better if she can participate in weekly discussions more.
I really enjoyed this course, and professor! Professor Collins Rawle has a uniform structure for the psychology course which makes it very easy to get into a regular schedule since the class is online. Although I only briefly spoke with Professor a handful of times during the semester, she was very responsive and willing to help. 10/10!
Feedback on grading was very limited, and at times not clear.
Professor Rawle has been one of the best teachers I had. Her material was great and easy to follow. Her weekly discussions were straight forward and great! Wish there were more Professor like her who gave homework that you can understand and actually succeed understand the introduction to Psychology. Would take her other classes in the future.
She's a great professor, she used Macmiller learning that really helped get the work done and give a better understanding on little things that might be confusing. Overall a awesome teacher who wants students to succeed in her class! I'd def. take her again. :)
Dr. Collins Rawle was understanding and fair when I brought up issues I was having with the online platform and offered solutions to help me succeed in the class.
This professor is great, clearly states expectations and how grading works. She always answered questions quick and was helpful at al times.
I really likes this class in general, the professor was really nice and understanding, sometimes I just wish We could have had like a short zoom meeting to get better explanation of assignments. Very helpful class
Great professor, If there are any questions you have she's great at answering. the material covered was good and the projects as well.
Great professor, she answers to questions quickly and is helpful.
Dr. Collins is very organized and definitely knows how to have everything set for an online class. The assignments were well put and clear. There were several links to learning all subjects and definitely enjoyed the videos. Discussions were a little tough for me, but none the less really made me think. Which is good
good structure and you knew what to expect each week. 1 discussion every week,1 peer review, and 1 quiz every 2 weeks. She is difficult grader and gives little to no feedback, it is difficult to get full credit on discussions and peer reviews. She is also very difficult to get in contact with, and is not active in discussions at all.
Professor Collins is always helpful and responsive to the class. You have been a great Professor to me, and I really enjoyed this course. Also, the Macmillan Learning E-book material explained everything in detail and it made it easier for me to understand the overall chapters and assignments. Thank you for all that you do. You're appreciated!
Must PURCHASE MacMillan Learning Archive 1 Discussion & Peer Response due every week. Weekly Quizzes and Videos, you get full points so long as you complete them. 3 Tests, 50 questions, only given 1 hour to complete. Lowest grade removed As long as you read the text and complete your assignments on time, you will receive a good grade.
Overall great class and a great experience. Only problem I had was that she would take a while to grade assignments thus you're not really sure what your grade is in the class until the very end. But just do all the discussion boards and you should be fine.
She is a great professor. Clear rating system. Understandable class materials. Highly organized modules. And more than that. I will definitely recommend her to you guys.
Class was very limited in feedback & discourse with other peers. My only issue is with the quizzes, they are incredibly specific, while i know it's a quiz however it's timed and theres a lot of reading material to remember a specific date off the top of my head is impossible. Felt as if it were more about memorizing than understanding the material.
Grading rubric was intense compared to my other classes. Grades assignments months after due dates. This contributed to my poor grade as I didn't know I wasn't completing the assignments in the right fashion until the semester was half-way over. More information on the rubric expectations at the beginning of class would be helpful.
The class was very informative but there was a lot, a lot of reading and not much class engagement. It was difficult to absorbed the information as this is not my preferred learning style. Make sure you complete your weekly responses and take note of important concepts for the quizzes. Completing assignments is key for a good grade.
Very organized and can be reached to and replies fast.
Professor shelly is wonderful. She is always there to help you and plus she provide many extra credits. I will definitely take this class again.
I have had to email her about several grades because she docks so many points off for imaginary rules. I was told she took points off for a specific reason so I double checked and she was wrong many times. I went above and beyond in her class & was graded harshly for no apparent reason. I take my grades very seriously and this is was frustrating.
Professor Shelly is very organized and provides lot of extra credit task if incase you miss out any assignment. Will definitely take this class again.
This professor was very nice. I reached out a handful of time throughout this course and she always responded quickly and helped me. However, she sometimes graded assignments slowly and gave pretty minimal feedback. Overall, I think I got a lot out of this class and I thought the assignments were very interesting.
Overall, this class was pretty straight forward! You read and do most of your coursework through the online textbook and program. There are weekly discussions that are mandatory to participate in and expected to reply to. Shelly was a great teacher and she responds quickly through Canvas email. I really enjoyed learning in this class!
She is a tough grader and doesn't give feedback.
I enjoyed taking this class since it was one of my first college courses! Dr.Collins was very responsive if I had any questions regarding anything I was confused about, and understanding when an issue arose. Also, Zoom calls are not a part of the class, which is helpful for those with a busy schedule and allows them to work at their own pace.
I enjoyed Dr. Collins-Rawle's PSYC 1 class. The online coursework is easy to get through as long as you stay on track. It was a very broad introduction to psychology, and I enjoyed the use of MacMillan Learning and the online study guides. The only thing I would have liked better is if the discussion assignments had been graded more timely.
Good professor, good material used for class. I will say, I wish she would provide some feedback for discussion posts so that we can improve the quality of our posts.
Professor was good and nice, good materials for class, quick response. Her grading is a bit tough with some feedback. The difficult part I had was the quizzes as they are specific that it would be hard to remember as there was a lot of reading material. Overall, I enjoyed the class with the interesting topics and be able to get a lot out of it.
Shelly assigns a lot of homework, does not seem involved with students. Not understanding at all which is funny because she's teaching a psych class. Does not care if something is going on in your personal life. Does not give feedback on discussions. My advice, find a more involved professor who actually cares about their students succeeding.
Even though there is a lot of reading, but I always learned a lot in this class. Professor Collins-Rawle will provide a lot of Video activities to help students have a deeper understanding of PSYC1. But I have to say that Discussion's rating is strict, remember to check the rating rubic.
Would definitely recommend this class but be prepared to study and read a lot.
Ms. Collins is a very knowledgeable professor and would respond to emails quickly. She made me challenge myself and think outside the box.
She was always very responsive to emails, always made herself available to support you. She also made very engaging discussion posts which were always fun to respond to. I do wish that there were lectures, just to add an additional resource for explanation. Also, she didn't give feedback on discussion posts so it was hard to know where to improve.
She is the best professor in the CCSF. This is my first time taking online course in CCSF, I very like her teaching method. As long as you read the textbook, you can learn a lot. Since she does not have zoom meeting or lecture video to watch, so student can have more time to focus on other homework.
The course was very easy and well-arranged in terms of each module. The organizationn of course materials made it easy to learn and improve understadning of each concept.
Loved the class content. Be sure to do all assignments if you want an A.
Professor Collins' class is completely online. Despite not having zoom meetings, the grading criteria and instructions for the assignments are always clear, which I really appreciate! You can also find everything you may need on Canvas as it is also organized.
Professor shelly is well prepared. As long as you read the chapters and self-quiz yourself you will be great in her class! the best there is no zoom meeting!
She is a very understandable lecturer. She responds to emails as soon as possible. I would like to take a course with her again.
Dr. Collins is a great Professor who is active and engaged with her class. She expects her students to be active and engaged as well through her whole course. With that, she does not allow students to turn in assignments late. I found that her system worked really well for me and I learn a lot more since I don't fall behind at all in the course.
Grading rubrics were confusing and grades varied weekly even when following rubric. Seemed to have no consistency in what she was looking for. Also some course work seemed advanced for Psych 1
The online program is well constructed and pairs well with the online textbook/learning program. However, most of the assignments, except for the discussions and final paper, are done through this teaching program (Mac Millan Learning) thus, the class feels like its run by them rather than the instructor. Lastly, don't skip any of the readings.
Very helpful when Professor Collins provides videos to clarify what to do.
The flow of content she has laid out is fairly easy to follow if you're timely and organised. However it is quite content heavy and if you aren't on the ball you could lag behind quite quickly.
In person class would be less homework than online class mode?
If you send work in on time and participate then you will receive credit, but if you miss a few days and turn in a few minutes after 11 then you are definitely not getting graded. Make sure to stay consistent with the textbook. For Psych 1 we have 3 separate exams so for finals you will not have to memorize every since chapter.
Homework heavy. If you have no issues with this you should be fine. She's a good professor and she's caring, but I wouldn't be able to take another class with her. I feel like she's not considerate about full time students/full time workers as she clearly states on her syllabus that we have enough time in the day to do all the work she assigns.
Relatively easy class, lots of work but the work is easy if you do it right. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because for this online course you had to buy achieve access, which wasn't cheap. However, I thought it was affective in helping me learn the material, so worth it to an extent. Professor will help you out if you ask, responds quickly to messages.
This course is well organized and students can learn a lot on Psychology. The assignment and discussion are very clear. A textbook is required for this course. Professor will respond to student questions and provided feedbacks. Overall, it's a great psychology course to take. I am interested to learn more about psychology because of this course.
The professor's system was extremely manageable even though sometimes it could be a lot at a time. Her modules are extremely organized and easy to find and the assignments are easy to understand and complete. I totally recommend this professor for anyone planning to major in psychology, or just anyone interested in a psychology course.
Great professor! Makes assignment instructions easy to understand and if several people are having the same problem, she will post notes on what to do to get those points in the future. Don't underestimate the assignments and online discussions, but there are extra credit opportunities.
Ms.Rawle was definitely a good teacher. There is a decent amount of reading and homework but I don't think it was too much. She has clear grading criteria and as long as you do the work, your grade will be fine
Professor Collins is very clear in her expectations of her students and provides very detailed assignment instructions. She wants you to succeed and is very professional. The course material used is current and engaging making learning psychology very interesting. You cannot fail the class if you try your best and participate.
This professor did not stick to her grading rubric, it would change at any time given and there was no notice until you receive a bad grade and see that the rubric was changed. Tough grader 300 words minimum for discussion posts is a reach. NO feedback was given ever, and took months to grade. Only has good reviews bc she gave extra credit for it.
Professor Collins makes the modules very easy to follow and the instructions are pretty straightforward. There can be a lot of reading in the textbook but it's super interesting. The assignments on Achieve is helpful and it's where I learn best. As long as you try your best, you should be able to pass this class.
The curriculum Professor Shelly provided in this class is clear and concise. I appreciate that in this course she has included informative videos and then discussions. Though it was a lot of information in a short period of time, it has expanded my knowledge and given me information that I would not have learnt on my own. Thank you.
Lots of reading especially if you're taking this class over the summer but definitely do-able. It felt more like 4 units than 3. Modules were pretty easy to navigate and instructions were clear for the most part. I would have appreciated a little more feedback on things that I didn't receive full credit on. Otherwise, not a bad experience.
One tip for this class is to really read the rubric. Most of the lecture were videos and readings, so it does required time. Overall, not a hard class or an easy one, but if you read the textbook then it would not be too difficult.
The lectures are videos and readings, so it does take time. A lot of reading, but doable. One piece of advice for this class is to read the rubric carefully, but besides the rubric, if I can get some feedback to let me know where I am not doing enough, I will be very grateful. As long as you try your best, you should be able to pass this class.
Professor Rawle's was prompt with their responses to my emails, and I found the assignments to be graded quickly. I think the structure and diversity of the course material, which includes lots of access to supplemental material (I found the videos to be the most helpful), helped me build up a good base of knowledge in the realm of psychology.
Ms. Collins has been a very good teacher. Whenever you have questions or concerns with her online course she responds to your emails or messages on Canvas pretty quickly. She addresses your questions and concerns easily, while always being respectful. To be honest, I don't know what can be improved on. She did a good job with everything overall.
Dr. Shelly is a great professor and if I had the chance to take a different class with her teaching it, I would. I also really like how helpful she is in assisting students and answering their questions whether it is in mail or Pronto.
Dr Shelly is very responsive via email if you ever needed to contact her about any concerns or questions. The course is pretty straightforward and well structured, but make sure you follow the rubric. Discussion is a big chunk of your grade so again follow guidelines. The one thing she can improve on is give more detailed feedback on assignments.
Would definitely recommend taking PSYC 1 with Dr.Shelly! The class expectations were laid out and clear. As long as you do all the required work, weekly discussions, and Achieve assignments, and do the reading you should be good. Assignments are graded pretty quickly too. The one thing that I'd say could be improved is more feedback.
Dr.Collin is a very nice professor. She can be flexible with your assignment if you have your reason and let her know ahead of time. Be prepared to read alot especially if you are taking her summer classes. If you are doing all of the work, and turn everything in on time, you will do fine in the class.
Professor Collins Rawle is a good teacher. All of the online assignments are laid out in a simple format. The class was interactive and deadlines are clear. Your grade is mostly based on discussions, so make sure to look at the Rubik to hit all of the discussion points. I wish she gave more feedback on assignments. Overall a good class and teacher.
I took her psychology 1 during summer. It's not that bad or a hard class just make sure you turn your assignments on time. There is a 250 words minimum for discussion which she is strict on. Most of the work is from Macmillan Learning. There was two quiz and I had around 10 assignments each. Just make sure to turn your work on time.
I took her class over the summer and I liked her as a professor. Given that it was a summer class, the coursework moved quickly, as is to be expected with a summer course. The Macmillan learning platform was used heavily; this was my first time using this specific platform and I liked it a lot. There were assignments and discussions weekly.
Professor Collins Rawle is a great professor. She has very clear criteria on what she expects from you, so make sure you check out the rubric when you do the assignments. There's a lot of material, but the learningcurve assignments were helpful. The unlimited attempts allow you to learn from mistakes and plan what topics you should study more.
Dr. Collins was easy to reach even for technical problems. The vast majority of the work in on an online platform called Achieve which I really enjoyed--the materials were fascinating. I learned so much from this class. You have to commit to sitting down each week to work through the Achieve assignments. But you'll have fun along the way!!
Dr.Collins was great! I took this class fully remotely. It was a little confusing with the external websites used for the class but overall it was pretty simple once I got the hang of it. Great grader make sure to read the grading criteria and you will do good!
Very clear instructions when it comes to grading and is very easy to communicate to!
Overall a caring and responsive professor, and I enjoyed the supplemental reading and content provided. Assignments were structured and fairly easy to understand so you know what to expect each week. It did take months to get most of my grades back, and it wasn't until then that I realized I must have overlooked some criteria in the rubric.
provided clear explanations and offered additional resources for understanding the subject matter. Provided clear communication.
Clarity of Communication Effectively uses technology to enhance the learning experience. Multimedia elements, such as slides or videos, used appropriately. Real-world examples and case studies integrated into the curriculum. Well-structured with clear objectives and a logical progression of topics.
Felt disengage this whole course forced to do discussions when the teacher doesn't grade your work directly as in telling what I did wrong. Felt like this was a waste of time to be honest.
I enjoyed studying Psychology with Professor Shelly-Ann Rawle. I was pregnant throughout the semester and worried about keeping up with the class, but it was smooth and manageable. I particularly appreciated the unlimited attempts on quizzes, allowing for a thorough understanding of the material.
she is very professional, she is very clear in explaining tasks, she is willing and responds to emails promptly.
Please be self aware if online courses work for you or not. Online courses are not for everyone. The professor does a great job in outlining how you will receive points. Organization and time management is key to succeed in this class. Professor was responsive to any of my questions and I would take her class anytime again.
The course is laid out well but I felt like it was too easy at times. Also the professor took days if not a week to respond to emails as well as took weeks to grade small assignments.
I learned a lot during this class! It was extremely easy to manage and the material was interesting. I would've wanted a little more feedback regarding the discussion posts but overall great class.
Professor Rawle is an amazing teacher who made my first online learning class enjoyable and achievable. It is important however to do all the assignments and to take your time when it comes to the discussion posts as most of your grading will come from those posts. Time management is crucial as there is a strict deadline for the assignments.
Time management is crucial as deadlines for assignments do not change and are static. Homework will make up the majority of the grade. Professor Collins is quick to respond to emails and provides meaningful feedback when asked.
Online class was fairly easy, however if you want to actually get something out of the class you must do all work yourself since there's no real engagement with the class. If you wanted to get more involved maybe reach out to the professor more. Overall, lessons were straight to the point.
I would totally recommend taking this class. I love psychology and she made me want to learn even more with this course.
This class was fairly easy. Participation matters because of discussions that are posted every week. Things are graded quick and professor is easy to reach out to.
Professor Collins is awesome. If you need help do not hesitate to reach out to her she is very responsive and willing to help if needed. Her class does contain a lot of reading, but if you read the material the class will be a breeze a for you. I would definitely take her class again. So far she is one of the best professors I have had.
Overall this class was fine to take. The course is mainly self taught through readings with the professor posting some supplemental materials like slides and outside resources. Fair expectations and grading. I felt she could've been more responsive and interactive through providing feedback on submitted works.
She is an awesome Teacher. She doesn't give difficult homework if you only study.
Receiving feedback on the homework assignments would be greatly appreciated. Despite adhering to all the requirements outlined in the rubric, I noticed that I was graded as if I hadn't followed the rubric for some assignments.Understanding the specific areas where improvements can be made will be beneficial for my learning process. Thank you!
I wish there was more feedback on assignments because they're very time consuming. Knowing why the grade isn't perfect would be helpful so I can improve. The course is interesting, but there is a lot of homework, so make sure you're ready to read and write a lot. To me the course feels like more than 3 units one. Good thing - I learned a lot!
I took Professor Collins' Psych 1 class as a high school junior and truly enjoyed it. Professor Collins was an efficient grader and an understanding teacher. I contacted her multiple times during the semester and she responded considerately. I will only say that there's a lot of reading, so set out designated times to work.
I took an online class; Prof was very responsive and really cares about the topic. But I found the assignments to be a bit repetitive in their nature, and the minimal written feedback made it difficult to interpret what I had done right or wrong. I'd take her class again as it was interesting but wish it was a bit more engaging in format.
A very engaging online class that covers various interesting psychology-related subject matter. I appreciated how well-structured the course was, it made everything feel very manageable. The workload felt very balanced between the discussions quizzes and video activities which all served as useful exercises to understand the basics of psychology.
Shelly was an online teacher. Grading is clear. However, study guide test do not reflect the actual exam. Make sure to not miss assignments. Shelly is understandable and willing to give chances for missed assignments which I really appreciated.
I took an online class with this teacher. She was a tough grader but she was also very reasonable. Very accessible and willing to help.
I took an online class with this professor. She is a tough grader but very reasonable. Very communicative and understanding, will always help out.
Delayed response to student outreach and grading. Confusing directions and misdated homework/cut and pasted from previous classes.
Professor is responsive via email and includes multiple resources for support and extra learning.
Shelly-Ann Collin's book requirement for this course had each chapter that would have two opposing arguments for certain topics. This is not telling students what to think but teaching them how to think critically on complex social matters, especially through a psychology lens. The assignments were clear and the due times were very reasonable.
The readings and supplemental videos were split fairly evenly in this densely packed class. The instructor was lucid and captivating; however, considering the course is conducted virtually, I would personally like to see additional video lectures added to further delve into the material. I highly recommend this professor and class.
This was the first professor who took grading more seriously than others before her. I had to make sure the word count was within the rubric guidelines. I enjoyed the textbook and learned quite a lot from the course. As the class was asynchronous, we did not have a chance to interact personally, so it is hard to rate the engagement.
I think that the professor herself was not what made the class difficult but the fact that it was online made it hard to keep up at times. She was easy to reach out to when you had questions and she gave a decent amount of extra credit work opportunities which people should definitely do if they get a chance!
FYI: SHE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT FOR REVIEWS ON HERE. Scant to no feedback and grading in practice seemed nonsensical; I'm a straight-A student who has written professionally, and she graded many of my discussion posts Cs and Ds, with no chance to improve, as she graded them 2.5 MONTHS late. ALL instruction is via MacMillan software/YouTube. Avoid.
This course is organized and follows the same format each week. The content is interesting and it's easy to learn if you're doing the work. However, this professor hasn't graded any of my work for the past 2 months. It's hard to know how to improve assignments when given no feedback.
Shelly is a great professor but make sure to read her grading rubric, especially with discussions! Many students dropped out by the middle of the semester due to this. She will offer support where needed, but you would be wise to reach out if you are receiving poor grades. I probably would not take this course again, but it was great overall.
I enjoyed and learned pretty much as much as possible within the confines of an online learning environment. I enjoyed that the tasks were diversified between discussions, quizzes, video activities, and slideshows. Ms. Collins did a good job providing study materials in preparation for important assignments.
Be sure to answer your homework assignment questions and video assignment questions correctly and follow the rubric on discussions and replies because that's the only ways to help youreself redeem yourself and your grade in the class if you did really bad on a test. She does allow a couple of extra credit assignments that could be your redemption.
I took Professor Rawle's class online, completely asynchronous, and thought it was easy. I could do my work at my own pace just had to meet the assignment deadline. The textbook for this course was free and easy to use. The professor was a bit late in grading some assignments and I worried about my grades. But overall I had an great experience.
I found this class to be a good learning experience. I found discussions and having peers respond to me and let me know their perspective on the topic and my response. Other than that I enjoyed taking this class and Ms. Rawle was great at always responding to my messages if I had any questions.
I recently took PHYS1 with Pro Collins, and I highly recommend her class. Pro,she knowledgeable but also passionate about making class understandable. She is always ready to help, especially if you're struggling with complex topics. Her classes are well-organized and engaging, filled with plenty of real-world examples that clarify tough concepts.
I had the pleasure of being a student in Professor Collins' Psyc 1 class this semester. However, I believe there is always room for improvement. In future classes, it would be beneficial if Professor Collins could incorporate more interactive activities or group work to further engage students.
Prof. Collins' course was good (attractive, well-structured and in online format). BIG concern: Delayed discussion grades (I'm still getting mid-semester grades) made improvement impossible. A timely feedback system would be very beneficial. Overall, I enjoyed the course, but the delay in feedback hurt learning and grades.
My favorite part of this class was the structure. I agreed with the deadlines for certain assignments. Although I like to procrastinate, the 11pm deadlines helped me make sure to do my work on time and not force myself to stay up any later to turn it in. Overall it was a well structured class and the readings were very long.
Dr. Collins was very helpful earlier this semester when I couldn't figure out some of the technology. Also she helped reassure me that some of my late assignments would still get partial credit. She was very kind and generous with her time in meeting me over zoom and always responded to my emails. I look forward to taking her again next semester.
Professor Rawle has clear guidelines for assignments and always responds to emails if you need clarification. Class consists of weekly readings and discussions with interesting topics. The final assignment tests your ability to diagnose a patient and is really fun! Put in the hard work and you will do well.
Dr. Collins is responsive and willing to provide feedback if you request it. The class was well-structured and had clear grading rubrics and expectations on deadlines. This class format is completely online and the consistent assignment deadlines helps keeps us on track.
The professor is nice and easy to contact. Every week has readings, learn-curve questions, and discussion. Some projects help you connect and apply what you have learned. Not that hard. Exams are based on the textbook readings. It's a good course and the professor is great.
Instructor Collins Rawle provided an online class learning environment that was well structured, and course expectations including assignment directions, grading rubrics and due dates, student expectations, and course SLOs were all clearly outlined. Overall, I would take another course taught by Instructor Collins Rawle in the future.
Requires good time management. Expect to spend 20 hours a week on coursework! The outline of the class was thorough with Macmillan learning modules- no pre recorded lectures. Keep up with the pace of the class-missing 1-3 small assignments will severely effect your grade. Great introduction to psychology-wish there was more time to take it all in.
This is acceptable and time management for this summer class. You need to complete weekly assignments on Macmillan learning and a discussion/written assignment. Just read the grading rules carefully. Extra credit would be super helpful. This is a great option if you are looking for a summer program.
I was in Dr. Collins' Summer PSYC1 class. Discussions are heavily weighted so make sure you participate on time. She is serious about adhering to the rubric for grading so make sure your response is thoughtful, your word count meets the minimum, and you have a credible reference with APA citation. She is intelligent and kind. I highly recommend.
I loved Dr. Collins, I feel that I was able to learn a lot independently while also having a ready and helpful resource available to me.
The professor was very understanding when it came to other obligations as long as it was within a reasonable amount of time. As this was a summer course, it felt as if each assignment was still at my own pace, and allowed me to work on other aspects I needed without feeling rushed or pressured.
Dr. Collins was very clear from the beginning of the course. The assignments, quizzes, and discussions were laid out perfectly and were easy to understand what is required. Expectations of when assignments are due are the same every week, making it very hard not to know when and what is due. The pace of the class was also great.
she is very helpful and attentive. Fast response time and understanding when it comes to outside life
I think that the course was fair and you get what you put in. I would take it again given the chance, and I also learned a lot about psychology that sharpened my thinking. I liked the pacing and format of the course, the time management was as expected.
I think Dr. Shelly has done a good job for preparing and designing this course. There are many different types of assignments that allow us to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of psychology. Thanks, Dr. Shelly.

I think the professor does a great job of outlining course requirements and how the course will be graded at the beginning of the semester. She outlines exactly how much effort is needed to set clear expectations for the course. Will learn a lot if you are actively engaging in all the readings and discussion boards.
The course materials are thorough and accessible, crucial for online learning. The professor's clear teaching makes complex concepts approachable. Flexibility, videos, and exercises enhanced learning. More live Q&A sessions would help. Technical issues sometimes interrupted access.
Professor Collins Rawle is a very warm and caring teacher who provides meaningful instruction and feedback. She emphasizes thoughtful and comprehensive responses from her students to her assignments as well as to other students in the class. She is very enthusiastic about teaching Psychology well and gives students ample resources to succeed.
I took this course as an online summer class and loved it! One of the best structured online classes I've ever had. As long as you work consistently and do your reading it's a great class to take online. There's lots of assignments but they are fun and easy. 10/10 I recommend that you take her class.
Good teacher, cleat information, it's important to keep up with deadlines and assignments are all submitted by 11pm
The modules make it easy to learn the curriculum and is pretty straight forward. The assignments made the information being taught more retainable. Be sure to prepare to be engaged and on point as there is no late turn ins.
The class is well-structured with clear guidelines. The professor is responsive and provides helpful feedback. Using unstuck study together with the textbook and class discussions helped me stay on track and do well.

This professor is a tough grader, does not give feedback on assignments and grading is different than other professors.
Dr. Collins is a great professor! She provides a clear rubric for each assignment and if you follow it, it's an easy A+ in this class. Read the textbook, it also helps with assignments. Readings are lengthy, but she mentions specific sections of the textbook that will be helpful when completing assignments.
Course material and textbook were mostly fine, but the style of teaching and grading were frustrating. Very harsh grading and limited time to complete homework. Slow to respond to messages and with grading. Inconsistent and unclear messaging about course policy and grading rubric, lots of glitches or messy use of Canvas. Overall disappointing.
Clear material as long as you're on top of it you should be fine.
Solid professor, pretty hands off for asynchronous online course but will respond to questions and fix errors. Assignments a little time-consuming, exams are straightforward.
Class was pretty straight forward, lots of reading and writing. The class will be easy if you stay on top of your assignments. Teacher will respond fast if you need help or if there is an error.
Professor Rawle is a professor with high expectations. She is looking for her students to read the material and apply it. There is a lot of reading and the tests will reflect a minimum of 4 chapters at a time so make sure to study.
I really liked the heavy readings, but the professor applied it with very well thought-provoking questions to reflect on the class. Ensure you are reading the chapters since the tests are about those chapters.
This teacher downgrades every single assignment, no matter how hard you work or how closely you follow her instructions. I've taken around 20 classes at CCSF, consistently earning B+ and A+. I've never seen a course where more than half the students dropped out. It was incredibly discouraging and detrimental to my classmates GPA and my own.
She gives extra credit for Rate My Professor reviews, which means they aren't truly anonymous, which makes them feel coerced. Study guides were not at all study guides. Grading is literally months late--you wont find out till nearly the end of the term that all discussion posts are C-D level, too late to change anything.
I enjoyed the format of the online class, which consists of weekly videos and questions, and weekly discussions that must include light research. There are a couple of other assignments, like slides, and about 3 exams. No late work is accepted, even a few minutes late, so be sure to be on top of everything, and you will do well!
This was an online asynchronous course so the Textbook is an e-book. Attendance isn't mandatory due to it being an online course, but you do have to participate and be active on the course website. Reading at times can be heavy but that's typical with any college courses. Professor is thorough with instructions within the assignments. Recommended.
This is an online course, so attendance isn't mandatory. Each week, there is usually one discussion, two to three “Learning Curve” assignments, and over five video activities for homework. The professor grades slowly and does not provide feedback. She is nice to talk to, but her grading style is a bit harsher compared to other professors.
This online class was clear and flexible. The readings and slides made learning easy, and I gained helpful knowledge about physiology. The only downside was the heavy workload about ten to twelve homework assignments, weekly discussions, and a major final project, especially during finals. Overall, it was a great class, but time management is key.
Professor Rawle is nice and responds fairly quickly to messages. Participation is required; you can be dropped for low participation. The course material is straightforward, but grading is strict even when following the rubric. It takes a while to receive grades for the discussion post, but assignments on Achieve were automatically graded.
Professor Rawle is a nice teacher who provides constructive instructions. The class's workload is very heavy. Each week, you are moving to a new chapter. There are about 10 assignments on Achieve each week and a weekly discussion post on Canvas. I would say this class is not hard, and you would get a good grade as long as you put in effort.
Professor Collins is a very sweet person! Whenever I reach out to her through Canva, she always response within 24hrs, which made it very helpful. Overall the course was easy to follow along, it's mainly just videos, learning curves, and discussion, and not quizzes and tests heavy at all. But do get ready to engage with at least 6 videos per week.
Professor Rawle is very nice and has detailed explanations on each assignment. This class level difficulty was ok, but there are a lot of assignments you need to complete each day. I would say the grading in this class is very strict based on the rubric and the discussion posts. Overall if you put time into this class, you can finish all the work.
I enjoyed taking Dr. Collins Psych 1 course. If you decide to take this course, just keep in mind that you will have to be on top of your work. Dr. Collins is very responsive and will give you the help you need. The modules are interactive which makes the class more fun even though its asynchronous.
Tough grader, no real information or feedback provided, so it can be unclear how you didn't meet the rubric and by the time you receive your grade it's too late to fix it. Very strict on deadlines but will work with you for emergencies. Great response time in Canvas inbox. Her reviews here are for extra credit, so take rating with a grain of salt.
Topics were straightforward and easy to learn online through the reading and Achieve assignments. I feel that not accepting any late work discourages students from completing assignments even if they forgot to do them. I would suggest she give partial credit if students submit late work.
Online asynchronous class with weekly discussion, peer responses, and reading assignments through modules that were very doable. It's an easy A as long as you stay on top of these weekly assignments!
You can learn lots
Professor Rawle's grading curriculum is completely all over the place. My discussion posts were marked down for not using citations, when I had them at the bottom, and the promise of getting emails back within 48 hours was not upheld. The exams are the easiest part, and they save grades unlike the discussion posts
