Prof Wadkins/Fichtenkort is an awesome teacher who grades fairly and is very helpful to all students, her sites are clear and I felt her assignments where right there with a college level. I would recommend her to anyone.

Mrs. Fichtenkort makes class easy yet allows you to learn alot. In order to learn it all well you should do all of the reading. The present book is wraught with evolution and Fichy tends to spout the lies out too, occasionally, but other than that she makes a class enjoyable (as with psy101).

Love Shelly, she's so down to earth and does a really good job of teaching psychology. If you pay attention and take good notes you will definitely pass the tests. I learned a lot and totally love that class. Highly recommend taking her for psych.

This class was not very hard, just read the chapters and you'll do fine. The quizzes and tests are predictable, the discussions add spark to this class. An easy A if you stay on top of it! She'll try to help you if you have questions or problems. I always knew what was expected of me.

This is the best teacher i have ever had! The material is merely explained in an outlined matter, IN ENGLISH. You dont have to bring the book to class ever. It is not an automatic A but if you take the time to listen and read the book an A is definite. The final is optional+extra credit+no homework= great class.

I took her online course, and she is VERY clear what she expect from her students. In all honesty, if you read, you will get an A! How much time I put into reading determined my grade. Of course, all the reading eventually got to me, and I kind of slacked off, but I managed to keep a B grade for the class. GREAT! One of the best online course!

Easiest class ever. Assignments were a piece of cake. The only time I had to somewhat work in that class was to study for the tests, but she is crystal clear on everything. Just go over your notes and you'll be fine. Also, the final is optional. She is really nice and smiling all the time. She makes you happy just looking at her!

took online class during summer. 10wk class was done 1-2 chpters/wk. lectures were straight to the point with what will be tested and easy to read. discussion topics were great. you can skim through the reading for the material and pass the class with an A. easy, but learned a lot, especially because the reading is not boring.

Awesome professor. Simple "pop" quiz before each exam consisting of 10 questions. Few homework assignments. Extremely helpful, great on going over the material and answering questions. But you will have to study for the exams. She offers study guides and also an optional final. I would recommend her to everyone.

This is my first semester with Fichtenkort. She is excited about what she teaches which makes the material fun to learn. We just did a sheep brain lab and it was more than I expected. I can't wait to see what else I will learn!

This is an awesome online class to take. It is very clear and easy if you stay on top of the work.

Took her online course. I was expecting to do at least 1 essay but didn't have to. She gives you 12 quizzes, 4 exams & some weeks, discussions. Quizzes can be taken twice & you can see which answers you got wrong. Exams are only allowed to take once, 75 ?'s, 75 points, 75 min. Lots & lots of reading. 30-35 pgs a week. She is very, very helpful.

Took this class online and it wasn't too bad. There's a lot of reading involved but the workload isn't bad at all. There was just a weekly quiz (which you can take twice)and a discussion, plus an exam every third chapter. A very straight forward class and easy to follow along. Fascinating topic, she has a lot of real life stories about her time as a researcher. This class really helped launch me into the psychology field, and also peaked my interest in biology. Keep up with the reading, pay attention to the study guides, you can pass it!

Shelly was great in her email interactions. Lots of reading, but that was okay. Weekly tests and Bi monthly exams were, of course, open book as this was an online class. Tests/Exams were difficult but there was plenty of time to research.

I loved this class the teacher was super nice. Her lectures are very useful and interesting. Therefore, I really recommend taking notes because lots of the material you take notes on will be on the test. Also do attempt to do the reading since you will have some questions from the text book. Plus the reading isn't that bad.

I loved the class. class was interesting and learned a lot. you take online quizzes and get two chances to take them and about every two weeks your given a test but if you can pass the quizzes the test should be easy.

Prof Fichtenkort was very well organized! Never needed to contact, never had any questions. Grading criteria was to the point, no hidden work, and no last minuet changes. Since I took an online class, participation counted. If you participate in discussions, do your reading, and complete all test... you can get an A!

Read the modules that are being assigned and you will surely pass. Also utilize the online resources being offered by the professor through the books publisher. The exams are strikingly similar to the online module quizzes offered by Meyers so note that. Most importantly the class is always enjoyable which makes learning come naturally.

Such an interesting class! She is always organized and prepared + very knowledgeable. Only 4 exams with optional final that can only help your grade. She gives hints on what will be on the exams during lecture and gives out study guides! If you liked her 101 class, you'll like this neuroscience class.

Professor Shelly is one of the greatest teachers I have ever had! You can tell how much she loves the subject of psychology and wants her students to love it as well. She is hilarious, which makes it fun to learn. If you show up to class with your packet and take notes, you will have no problem passing.

Loved her and her class. She loves psychology and she made me love it also. The tests are hard, but she gives study guides. The final is optional, so take the tests serious so you don't have to take the final at the end. She is extremely helpful when you ask her questions and is willing to go out of her way to help you.

Really sweet professor. Her lectures are exactly what you'll see on the exam. There are 4 exams and 4 "pop quizzes". You get a pop quiz the day before your exam. 4 assignments, read the article she gives you and respond to the sheet (questions are in the order that you read the article). Final is optional. I didn't open my book once.

Great teacher, very organized and answers any questions that you may have. I would highly suggest studying only what she says to study, so study guides are very helpful in letting know what is going to be on every single test. Also gives hints during lectures just to let you know what will be on the test as a possible short answer question.

We only had 4 exams. Didn't have to take the final if we were okay with our grade after the 4th. Funny,. Didn't use text book. She creates a study guide for you to follow for exams and all the answers are found in the notes you take from her powerpoint lectures. Does "pop" quizzes before exam to prepare you with some of what will show on exam.

She gives amazing lectures and is so well organized with everything. Her teaching style is a lot of note taking as well but you learn so much from them and her discussions. She does everything she can to help her students and well prepare everyone for exams, you even get a freebie exam. I would take her class a million times, excellent teacher!

Amazing psych professor. I took 101 with a different one and regretted it instantly. If you're looking to take general psych or drugs and human behavior, Prof. Fichtenkort is the ONLY option. She's amazing, hilarious, caring, interesting, and she made class fun.

The class is quite simple, quizzes and discussions every week. Use quizlets. Read her weekly information review and watch the PowerPoints and you will not need the book. Exams are long in short time, but if you read the class content before, it will be easy.

In 118 you get "pop quizzes" which are every day before the exam. She's a really laid back professor and I would take her again for any other psychology class. Take her, you wont regret it.

I had her when I took Pharmacology (which is now under a different name) and I have to admit, she's AWESOME. Her lectures are really fun and you learn so much! I didn't need the book. She gives you a paper that has terms from each chapter you need to memorize/understand throughout the semester. Her quizzes are harder than the tests on purpose.

She has a clear grading criteria, organized, the work-load for me personally was very fair & ideal (one discussion post + reply to another student's post & one quiz weekly). I only used my textbook once because one of the discussions required you to read specific pages, but other than that, I never opened it.

I've been going to MJC for about 3 yrs now and she is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's so nice and makes everything as simple as possible for you to pass. I cannot rave about this teacher enough! I took her PSYCH101 Class and it was so good that I decided to take PSYCH103 and it was worth it! She has a study guide that is really easy to follow and she is so caring about the subject and her students! Also, she is really funny! Make sure you study and you will pass!

Dr. Shelly is hands down the best professor here at MJC. She has very clear grading criteria and as long as you put in the effort, you should pass. The first test was hard but don't let it discourage you and KEEP GOING! There's just a lot of info in chapter 3 and has a lot of biology components to it. If you fail, its honestly because of yourself.

After first exam you get a feel on how the rest of the class is going to be. Study, read, and listen to discussion! She is great at explaining thoroughly in her lectures.

I loved taking this course with professor Fichtenkort. This class was tough, for sure, but she made it so interesting. Each of her lectures reflected her passion for this field and she communicated it so well with her students. Assignments arent hard: 2 easy articles, a few short answers sheets worth 10 points. Study guides are very clear!

A usual class. Not hard, not easy. You just read a chapter or two a week and take quizzes. She will be in touch either but not super involved, but not in a bad way. It's just for basic psych so it's not too difficult, especially if you're majoring in this field.

Easy structured class! Book is free!. You read 1 chapter each module with a small quiz due at the end of the week. Weekly discussion with 1 post and 1 reply required. Midway into semester these discussions only require 1 post. Best part is there are no papers to write. 3-4 exams based only on the quizzes. She responds to you fast! Take her, easy A

Prof. Fichtenkort is the real deal! I took her Summer class and it was great, she's passionate about the subject, grading criteria and assignments are very organized, content is engaging, and she's very responsive if you have a question. The class was moderately difficult, quizzes and discussions were pretty easy, large part of grade is four exams!

Professor gives a short lecture before lots of reading, but the two combined are very cohesive. DO NOT have ANY kind of emergency. She will NOT give you any kind of break on due dates. She won't even reply to a request for one. As long as you are willing to accept that and turn everything in, it's a pretty easy A. The exams seemed long.

There isn't any extra credit, so your grade relies on the time you put in studying the chapter each week for the quizzes and the handful of exams given. Shes a great teacher. Every week is the same which is nice. Study for exams. Everything on the study guides are on the test but all BOLDED terms in the chapter are also on the test so study those as well. Youll learn a lot. One downfall about this class is that she doesnt have any office hours but assignments are pretty easy.

This class was really easy and fun! I loved hearing more about the different mental illnesses and types of therapy and the unit about the brain was interesting too! My only suggestion is that there is more interaction with the professor and students. She sends out announcements but Im pretty sure I went the whole semester without talking to her.

I took this class in fall of 2021 and loved it. Wish I had earned an A, but totally my fault for skipping some assignments. Professor had Zoom office hours, lots of announcements and gave good feedback on discussions. Every week just follow the module assignments and don't miss anything! You will learn a lot about psychology.

Awesome professor! I loved the way she handles discussion assignments where you only need to respond to one person and both posts are only 100 words, it doesn't waste your time. Provides study guides so you know what to look for on exams. Only downsides are that assigned reading can get pretty long every now and then, and you can't go back on tests

I enjoyed taking her class! Her class was straightforward. Quizzes were based on textbooks and lecture videos. Exams are based on textbooks, lecture videos, and quizzes. The assignments were easy. You only need 100 words minimum to post & reply to one student for discussions. Which was easy because the discussion topics were interesting as it is.

This is an intro class and is treated as such. Though it's nice to have a foundation from Psych101, it's not necessary. Shelley does a great job of teaching the necessities and building a foundation throughout the course. Lectures cover the tests, reading reinforced-you can get an A in this class. I received a B because I slacked off, period!

ONLINE Some weeks you only have to read three pages and sometimes 50. Super interesting. Quizzeseasy. Exams are weekly quizzes+new questions which is pretty easy. Make sure you are writing in detail for weekly assignments, if broad or too simplified she will dock points. Has her for psych101 & this class LOVE HER teaching style. Straight forward.

Her online class is basically reading assignments, discussions, and quizzes. Fairly easy. She is very nice and grades super quickly! There will be 4 exams, and she offers a make up exam at the end of the semester that can replace a low exam to improve your grade.

I loved taking this class. It was very interesting and she is really good at explaining things to help you understand. If you take this class in person you will be dissecting a sheep brain. Text book required but you can find it on chegg for 40-50$

This class is very simple and straightforward. She has a written lecture and 10-minute-long video lectures. There are four 75-question exams that you have 75 minutes to take. You have a short discussion post each week and a 20-question quiz. Follow her instructions and read the textbook and you should get a good grade.

Professor Fichtenkort is one of the best professors at MJC. Also took her for psych 101 and 103 because she is amazing. She is so smart and is able to answer any questions you have. Her lectures are very interesting. I never got bored in that class. Just study hard for the exams and you'll be fine. She allows one side of a 3x5 card for the tests.

She's a really good teacher. You just have to read the chapters she assigns you and she doesn't really give out a lot of assignments. The exams are pretty easy just pay attention to the questions on Kahoot because those are in the exam. The final is optional.

Took this class online. Canvas is laid out well and easy to follow. Gives good feedback. One quiz and a discussion(100 words post + 100 words reply) each week. Not a hard class. She is very strict about leaving Canvas during quizzes or exams and will fail you. Would take this professor again.

Attendance is mandatory, there are sometimes mini class activities that you need to attend for points. Few exams & can use a notecard for "cheat sheet". Please take her!! You won't regret

When I read my syllabus, I thought I was going to have a difficult semester, but I ended up loving her class! It actually made me change my major to psychology. She's very clear on how she grades. You better not leave your canvas page when you are on a quiz or an exam. She does not play when it comes to that. Read, take notes & participate!

LOVE Shelly!! I've taken 3 different classes with her and she is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is test-heavy (4 per semester and an optional final) but other than that she doesn't assign much other work. She is an amazing lecturer and will bounce back and forth on any questions or theories you may have. 100/10

Good professor. Wants students to learn and as a result, you will have to study and put in effort. Her class can not simply be passed without some sort of effort on your end. However, if you put in the work you will pass with no problem. Don't buy the book just show up to her lectures & you're good! Grades are based on exams only so study hard!

I loved this instructor! She is great at what she does and very helpful. You can ask her questions of you do not understand something. I will say that there is A LOT of reading and then quiz and Exam, this is pretty much all it is. A LOT of reading and studying so I would recommend not taking more than 1-2 classes.

Doesn't assign too much homework, assignments are simple and do not take forever to complete. Highly recommend Ms. Fichtenkort.

This was my second time taking one of Shelly's classes, and she is just amazing. So kind and funny, and her lectures always went by so fast because of how interesting they were! I'd recommend her and this class to any student, even if you aren't a psychology or human services major.

Amazing teacher. You could tell she actually cared about what she was teaching and was very interactive with the class. She gave us time to prepare before tests and went over questions we about the chapter during the next class meeting time. She was very kind and loved to answer any questions during lectures. While taking her I loved her lectures, they were very insightful and interesting. She only gives out two short research papers for homework and few exams for a couple of chapters. You must show up to class and take notes. Her exams correlate to the points given during lectures.

Professor is clear and gives good examples to help you understand the terms. You get 2 tries on quizzes and 1 on exams. Discussions are interesting, tho she is really strict about not using AI. Just don't and you will be fine, the topics are easy to write about. No problems with her assignments or grades. Seems totally fair and I learned a lot.

She was a good professor. Her class assignments mainly consisted of discussions, quizzes and exams. Quizzes you have 2 attempts of 20 questions and exams they are 50 questions. Her lectures have lots of examples for you to understand a little better and the textbook was online for free. I would recommend taking her.
