Great sense of humor

Shelly is the best professor at CSUN. She cares about her students and prepares everyone for the exams. You do have to lab work, and write papers, but she is very helpful and an easy grader. She gives study guides for the tests. you do need to study, but they aren't difficult. She has a great personality and does not require attendance.

I loved this class and I loved her teaching it. She's very interesting and she knows what she's talking about. She does go off about her personal life and opinions but overall tries to relate it to the material. Worst part is going to observation hours but the papers that are required are so simple and she tells you exactly what she is looking for.

Great Professor! Super nice and really cool! She tells really funny stories in class that I loved! It is a lot of work. You have 4 papers, a research paper and 8 hours at a lab school plus three 100 question test. BUT somehow she makes it really easy! Papers are easy and lab school can be interesting. she is sweet and pretty easy but for some reason i am not a huge fan. used up majority of class time to talk about her kids. doesn't do much explaining of concepts and uses powerpoints to relay the information.

Professor Gray is a reasonable professor, she actually wants everybody to pass. She told us specifically what to study and jot down on her power points. It's a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. She gives out extra points for turning in the observation assignments on the due dates she has. It is extremely possible to get an A, I did. :)

One of the laziest professors I have ever met. Easy A, only some reading required. For the final, she gives you a Power Point with "test questions" and the answers. It is the exact exam. Has a lot of real-world experience, but no technical knowledge. If you actually need the information, go elsewhere. If you need an A, register with her.

Prof Gray is one of nicest professor at csun(very funny). Everyone who is saying this is an easy "A" is not very true. You must earn your grade by studying for the chapter exams and doing the observation assignments. She wants you to succeed not only in class but in life. Make sure attend class because the exams are based on the power points.

This class is not an easy A. You definitely need to work for your grade. You need to complete 10 observation hours and write essays non-stop throughout the semester. Also she’s not lenient when grading! If you're are not a child development major, please save yourself time and consider taking another class that’s more interesting.

She is all about her stories. The test are off the study guides. Takes attendance and is boring class but easy if you are there. Don't take the 3 hour class at night if you are wanting to leave she does notice.

If I could spend the rest of my college career only taking classes with her, I would in a heart beat. Gives great lectures, highlights and points out exactly what will be on the exams. The work load is heavier than most courses, but I would take the class over and over again. She actually cares for her students and wants them to learn and pass!

Professor Gray is amazing! She is there for students if they need help. Start early on all of the assignments. Don't expect to pass if you don't do the 10 required lab hours, it is a requirement for the class. You will work in a pair for all the assignments so pick wisely who you want to pair up with. Look at the assignments ahead of time.

She is an amazing professor. You have to do 10 hours of observation on a specific child. Then you and your partner complete a 25-30 page paper. The paper is divided into 4 assignments which she guides you through throughout the semester. Follow her instructions word by word. There are 4 exams 50 questions each. Study her slides!

There were some really dumb people in this class. She gave several EASY assignments to turn in for Extra Credit, more than half the class did NOT turn them in. Yes, you are suppose to work on a project , did you think you would go to class to sit and just be handed off an A (you got to be joking). Some of us actually put in work and it paid off.

I love professor gray this is my 2nd class with her and I have learned so much. She is a tough grader but we are paying for an education and she gives it. People are so lazy and expect to be given an A without doing the work. She gives all the opportunities in the world to raise your grade and people don't take advantage. I hope to take her again.

Professor Grey is hands down the best professor I've had yet! Yes she's tough but does an amazing job teaching & trying to make things as stress free as possible. She goes out of her way to provide students with numerous study guides for the final. If you want a good grade on this class you NEED to put in work, if you're a lazy student good luck.

Professor Gray is genuinely an amazing professor. She gives you a TON of opportunities for extra credit. Easily took be from a high C to a low B just because of the extra credit. So you have to do a project, but you know what you would have to with any teacher, she makes it a breeze. She will guarantee you do well if you listen to her. Loved her!

I love Professor Gray. I have taken her classes from my first semester at CSUN till my last semester. Yes, she will challenge you to be your best; but I promise you, all that she will teach, you will use later on. Go to her office hours, she is very helpful, and will guide you if you put an effort. You make your grade, she doesn't give it to you.

This class was very challenging however Professor Gray helps you along the way. If you ever have questions or don't understand something, she is always there. I recommend that you start your observation assignment as soon as possible because it's the biggest part of your grade. You can't pass the class if you fail the observation assignment.

This course is all about creating your own daycare facility. I have to say, it was one of the hardest classes I have taken, but Professor Gray gives you plenty of time to do the work. It is a group effort, so make sure you pick the right person. It is a group paper split throughout the semester (100 pages) and 1 presentation.

This class is pretty easy. You work on two group presentations on parenting programs, midterm, and final. The presentations involve research papers, but they are done between group members so pick wisely. Professor Gray provides you with notes for the test, so just study them.

I can't praise her enough. She is a wonderful professor that loves teaching and interacting with students. You will always see a line of students waiting to speak with her during her office hours either for additional help from her or just to say "hi" to her. Heavy work load depending on level of class, but manageable. Great sense of humor.

Great professor, really cares about her students. One huge group project that has to do with the 10 mandatory observation hours. 4 exams. Always posts a study guide for and concept sheet. Posts powerpoint slides as well. Offers a lot of extra credit. Takes attendance, but can miss 2 or 3 times and she won't dock points for it.

I LOVE SHELLY GRAY. I don't understand the negative comments, she is such a funny, easy going, outspoken professor. She was very understanding with the heavy workload students carry and didn't hesitate to move deadlines. Class was very fun. You pair in groups for the whole semester. 2 big group presentations, 3 mini quizzes, midterm, final.

Plain and simple: get the textbook, read the chapters for the exams, use the study guides, find a solid group for the group project. Students can't complain when we're the ones who are not willing to put in the work or when you're caught cheating. If you don't want to do work, participate, and basically contribute to the learning process, then don't take her. She's an AMAZING teacher if YOU want her to be. Your grade is based mainly on 2 things: tests and a group project. You work on the group project throughout the whole semester, so make sure your group partners are hard workers and people you get along with. Overall, its a fun class.

She comes off as intimdating, but she's really sweet and funny. She cares a lot about her students and only wants the best for them. A simple class that consists of a huge group project that you work on throughout the semester, and four exams. Attendance matters because you can miss so much information from lectures. She is the hardest professor I have ever taken-- and this was a GE class. HUGE group project that requires adherence to strict deadlines, pick good partners and it shouldn't be an issue. The class itself is pretty demanding, so make sure you have enough time to deal with requirements. Be prompt and always show up and you shouldn't have a problem.

AMAZING professor. Very kind, good examples, interesting lectures. THE TESTS ARE OPEN NOTE AND 100% LECTURE/SLIDE BASED. You only use the text book to pull out some quotes for your paper. The big paper is a monster, but you work on it little by little, 100% GROUP WORK, so it really isn't bad at all.

I have taken Prof. Gray class before for FCS 380 and knew what to expect coming into this class. She is a tough grader, but she will always have feedback for you on your research papers. Group projects are crucial. Exams are easy if you use the study guide; however, you only have 1 min. to answer a question. She is a great professor!

She is demanding but will bend over backwards for you as she cares, wants you to do well in her class. 2 group projects, 2 exams, and weekly discussions. Gray is a great professor. Her motto is "your success, is my success" and she really lives by that. This course is very time-consuming but worth it. She is very clear about expectations, but her communication about due dates is poor. You can't rely on Canvas or the syllabus to know what's coming up. It takes her several days to respond to emails.

Her class is very chill as long as you do the work. There are quizzes before each class that she lets you take with a group. Each assignment is so clear that if you just go off of the requirements as a list you will easily get full points. 2 exams. super chill class and she is very understanding and fair!

Lecture heavy and a tough grader, took her in the spring of ‘24, it's a fairly easy passable course if you pay attention and are passionate about CADV related material. Ask questions from her, do not miss any days if you are dedicated to passing as attendance is needed. There isn't a final, just a group presentation on different careers.
