She is a very caring individual that makes Pyschlogy very clear and easy. If you have a learning disablity, she will readily help you. She makes a hard class bearable.

She is an excellent teacher, who helped me with my wheelchair problems. It takes me awhile to get to I-building and they have not added alot of handicaped features yet. She also makes pyschology fun.

Shelley's awesome! True, her tests are kind of hard, but she is always willing to help and her lessons are so interesting. I really learn a lot from her.

Shelly was one of my all-time favorite teachers; she's always enthusiastic and makes everything interesting. I found the tests to be very easy - just be sure to read the book and attend the lectures. She didn't assign any papers, we watched film clips often, and we conducted a few mini-experiments.

Shelly is a great instructor. There are many things to learn about Psychology and she makes the material very easy to understand. You go away from the class feeling like you actually learned something.

Dr. Metz was so nice, told you exactly what to study for the exams, and didn't assign too much work. She gives out bonus points...I finished the class with over 100%. She makes tough material easy to understand...no homework, just 3 - 4 exams and a final. I would recommend her to everyone!

Dr. Metz is one of the best instructors I have had. She made the class fun, and I learned a lot of useful information that applies to life. The workload was easy...4 exams, final and extra credit for chapter outlines.

Interesting lecturer. Tests are multiple choice from book and lectures and not very difficult, but require attendance and close reading of material. No papers. Couple of hilarious videos from the late ‘60s or early ‘70s on experiments and topics within the discipline. Recommend.

The human sexuality class turned into a health class rather than a psy class =( She is easy enough but you do have to study the book (her lecture are really just compliments to the book in psy 101).She gives good study guides and will answer questions. She's a freaking AMAZING teacher! She's super easy to understand, and she pushes you to study so you'll always do well on the tests! The homework was very well laid out and spaced correctly. If I ever got to have her again for anything I would take it.

Prof. Metz is very nice and helpful/ She really seems to want her students to enjoy her class, and works hard to make it so. It's a hard class, and if you don't study you won't pass. If you are willing to work it's not bad though. Not my favorite class, but I feel that i learned a lot.

Dr. Metz is a great teacher! She is very sweet and cares what every student has to say. She never talks down to anyone and makes all her explanations crystal clear. Her class is also very easy. She gives multiple choice tests and her final is only 50 questions multiple choice. She also assigns no hw and you get extra credit for outlining chapters!

Psych and Film: Great teacher although not an easy "A". You must know how to write a paper as she will gig you for a poor writing attempt. She loves verbose papers so be prepared to write big papers. However, the class was fun. Show up talk a little and watch a film. Hand in homework before class. She gives you every chance to turn it late HW too.

She was totally awesome. She is passionate about the subject. She relates it to real life, and follows the material in the book, so there is nothing on the test that she did not cover.

Awesome teacher very well versed in her field very nice sometimes she does let the student talk to much and this eats up class time and she isn't able to cover all the material this is the only issue i had but her test are fair and cover the material she bases a lot of the test on what she overs in class so be sure to attend every class

Took her for 1105 as well. HIGHLY recommend her. Very informative, congenial, interactive and genuinely interested in her students. Will miss having her as an instructor. Gave me a solid foundation for my Psych degree though! One of my favorite instructors for sure! Strongly encourage you to take her classes!

Ms. Metz was a wonderful teacher!!! She was very informed on what she was teaching, nice, helpful, and kept the class fun and interesting by using videos and doing small group assignments. The tests were multiple choice - but you still needed to study and be prepared for them. Extra credit assignments were also offered. *****

Wonderful, cheerful teacher clearly interested in her field! Made learning the concepts fun with discussions and videos. Gives extra credit for outlining chapters, exams are multiple choice but beware if you miss an exam, the makeup test is in essay form! I highly recommend this teacher whether or not psych is your field of study.

Dr. Metz is an awesome Professor. She makes class very fun and her lectures are very informative. Psy 1105, being in introduction to Psychology course has a lot of information to learn, but she is well versed in the material and makes it very easy.

Shelly is amazing! Very insightful. I took her Psych in Film class and the only thing I had a difficult time with was a movie about suicide. Aside from that, she is great! She does make you write a lot on your homework assignments but just do the homework and participate in class, and you'll receive and easy A. Highly recommend her!

Shelly incorporates older videos and good examples. The information is easy to follow. She gets the class involved with behavior experiments. She grades based on test scores only, so you definitely want to read the text book and listen to her lectures. Easy A if you show up and pay attention; it's not hard to love Shelly Metz.

You could probably pass the class if you just showed up and paid attention to the lecture, as the tests are just an overview of her lectures. Book helps.

As long as you take notes and make flash cards you will easily pass. Lectures are easy, tests are 40 questions multiple choice and for each test if you took notes you get +4 extra credit points. Very nice woman. After taking psychology twice and failing it twice at UNM , I finally am doing well and I owe it to Mrs. Metz.

Dr. Metz has a really positive attitude, she makes her lectures extremely interesting and explains everything in a very clear concise way. She's also really helpful and gives lots of extra credit. Good psychology course to take! This course focuses on abnormal psychology concepts that are portrayed in film. Never skip an assignment or miss a day of class (otherwise, it will be hard to catch up)!

I must start this by stating this was an 8 week course. With that said, Shelly had no intention of shortening homework assignments or diminishing testing requirements. She did seem to genuinely care about her students, but the amount of work she assigned was unbearable. The films were interesting, but all the hw took away from the joy.

She is very sweet and kind, but in an 8 week course she didn't seem to remember very many people's name.. but oh well. Read the book and go to class, and you'll be fine!

An A Is doable in Dr. Metz's class. Take detailed notes directly from the book (extra credit). Writing the information makes it easier to remember (you are encoding it twice). Dr. Metz will explain anything you do not understand. She will also answer questions immediately before the exam. Exams are multiple choice. She is helpful and personable.

As long as you show up, pay attention, and do the reading you can easily pass her class.

I love Ms. Metz, and highly recommend her classes (this is my second time taking a class from her). She makes the class super easy (e.g., she gave us a study guide that basically had the questions that would be on the midterm on it), and is super accommodating to her students. She's a lenient grader and, to me, her classes are an easy A.

Dr. Metz was the nicest teacher I had. Just take good notes on her lectures and do brief outlines of the chapters for extra credit and you'll get an A. Your grade comes from 5 tests of 100 points each. At first I was worried because I'm not the greatest test taker, but the tests are really easy/multiple choice.

Only 5 grades, all tests and one of which is the final. This was scary to me at first but it's an Easy A. Show up, study a little and you will get an A. She is funny and cares about your success, very easy-going and gives you everything you need to be successful.

One of my all time favorite professors from CNM. I went into this psychology course with no prior experience or even knowing what it was. She made it easy to understand. Very great professor and would take her again.

She is truly amazing. She makes her lectures interesting and it is easy to learn. She does not require attendance and if you don't go you just read the book alongside the study sheet she gives you for each exam and you'll be golden. 4 exams plus final exam with specified study sheet, extra credit available... LOVE her don't take anyone else!!

Was graded purely on exams, so if you do not study it will show. Reading the entirety of the chapter helps a lot, as well as taking solid notes. If you do these things you will get an easy A.

Dr. Metz is the coolest, shes friendly to all and very organized. I was going through some of my old notes & realized how much I miss being in her class even if it was on a Friday. I remember she was such a good instructor I didnt mind going first on presentation days. If you have the opportunity to take one of her courses GO FOR IT!

Took Psych & Film. Loved this class, the homework & assignments are light & straight forward. Homework is from the book. Exams are in paragraph form, easy as long as you do the homework. AMAZING professor! Lectures are fun, must show up to class! Tests are easy as long as you study. Extra credit helps you learn the material and is worth it. No in-class assignments, just group discussions, lectures, and films. Pretty easy class for the amount of material covered.

I took professor Metz last minute in terms of planning my schedule, and to my distaste the class was right before I work. I found myself looking forward to hearing her speak, and she is invested in helping her students pass, and the material is very manageable if you are new to it. She's about everything you could want in a professor. Fantastic. A+

Dr. Metz is the epitome of what a college professor should be. She includes various interesting facts about the course and is very attentive to students' needs. After the first exam, she saw most of class not doing very well so she allowed us to use an index card on the next one. Highly recommended!

Omg she'll give you pencil, scantron sheets for your test, lending you textbook eventually. All you need to do is read textbook, (do the outline for exam and you'll get extra credit it's fine if you don't do it but the outline's helpful she'll offer the backup exam coupon and if you don't use that coupon you'll earn 5 extra credits as I remember).

She does not make online announcements as much as other classes and sometimes gets off-topic; however, she is great at helping and giving resources and lets you earn extra credit in different forms!
