LOTS of work!! Be prepared to work hard, but Shelly is really nice and really cares if her students learn and understand everything. I would recommend this instructor.
class is mandatory for psych majors. the lab is taught by graduate students. thats the worst part. no real professors for the lab course.
Shelly is great, she cares and wants students to do well. Offers extra credit and clearly outlines what you need to do to get a good grade. This class has a lot of assignments, but not too terribly difficult
Shelly is great, wants her students to do well, offers extra credit if needed, and clearly outlines what is expected and makes it easy to do well
I absolutely loathe research, and there's usually quiet a bit of homework. The structure of the class isn't too bad, but it could use a little fine tuning. Overall she's a nice and helpful professor, and she sincerely cares for the students.
There are assignments due every week and it is a bit of a work load but it's clearly explained, you get plenty of examples and help from Shelly. Shelly obviously cares about her students and loves teaching. I'd recommend her for other courses!
Shelly is a great teacher. Always available when you need her. The course is a lot of work but nothing too overwhelming if kept on top of. Group projects always frustrate me because i don't like to depend on other people to do their work but it worked out overall i think. Fair grading, constructive criticism on papers to actually help you improve
Shelly is a kind lab instructor that is willing to help her students succeed.
I think she's a wonderful instructor and really tries to help the students. Granted this lab required more work than the actual class, she gives a lot of examples and provides extra help if needed. I would definitely recommend a class by her!
She was incredibly helpful and nice, especially considering the difficulty of the course.
She is one of the best teachers at UNT. She is very helpful, understanding, and willing to go an extra step to help. I recommend taking her!
Can be a little boring and repetitive, but she really does care for her students. As long as you put in a little work, you will do well in the class.
Very nice professor. Helpful and more than willing to explain concepts when they get a tad confusing.
Shelly Sheinbein is an absolute delight to have in class. She is a wonderful teacher who is very knowledgeable of the field she is in. She is silly and very helpful to all of her students. She helps making learning more fun. Her name is pronounced Shine-bien, because she shines good, if that makes sense. Take her if you can! She is great.
Breaks down a dense subject into more easily understandable parts! Very helpful and friendly :) Also smokin hot!
Shelly is a very inspirational professor, I really enjoyed her class. I took her for a 3 hr night class so I HAD to go to class but the lectures kept me awake and interested the whole time. Weekly quizzes on previous lecture but relatively easy. She has funny videos during small breaks. Without a doubt I recommend her.
she makes Psychology fun, she gives example into everyday life ,so it easy to understand- great power point you do not need the book
Shelly is a great professor who aims to make class interesting and easy to understand through thorough explanations, relatable examples, and comical relief throughout the lecture.
She's an amazing teacher! Always made herself available to her students! as long as you study you will be fine!
Shelly is a good professor, especially for being a student as well. She really prepares you for exams.
Very nice teacher. Has strict rules that she enforces, but is very flexible all around. Provides jokes and comic reliefs throughout lecture, tries to make it more fun. Maybe has tough time explaining certain topics, seemed to me that there could be easier ways to explain it, but also it could be my personal learning issue.
She's dope. She's passoniate about what she teaches and does a good job to help you understand something if you just ask. If you read the book the test are no problem, but you could probably get by with just good lecture notes too. TAKE HER.
Would take again! Big time extra credit! Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Great Professor. Super funny and taught the information well. Show up and do your work and you will be fine.
She is relatable and explains content in a manner you can understand. She obviously knows what she is talking about and you can tell she loves psychology. I took her for a 3 hour class and she always gave us breaks and we watched random, funny youtube clips to wake us up a bit. Great teacher overall.
You will love this teacher. She actually is one of those professors that actually take the time and helps you. There are extra credit opportunities. Plus, I love the funny YouTube videos she plays in class. 3 hour class per week, but it's not so bad.
You will love this professor very much. She is one of those professors that are willing to help you. She responds to your emails really quick. You meet one day of the week that last 3 hours, but worth it. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Loved this class! You have to study for the tests, but the lectures are interesting and she always keeps it light and fun!
If you have to take Gen. Psych II, take this professor. She will make the material easy for you (she uses lots of relatable examples that helps students really understand the material) and she's always available for questions. Also, she uses comic relief videos, and she's open to suggestions for more funny videos.
Shelly is honestly one of the best teachers who can ask for regarding any class. I had her as a lab instructor for Psyc 2950 and I had her again for Psyc 1650 since I had to retake it (thanks Dr. G). But Shelly is an awesome person and she truly cares for the class and wants everyone to do well. I would recommend her to everyone!!
Shes super awesome. The class is three hours long but she never leaves us bored. She loves to show us funny videos and make us laugh. She presented the information in an interesting way. overall super great!
She makes the class entertaining and interesting. Great at doing her best to answer any questions people may have. Gives several extra credit opportunities. Overall excellent Professor!
Great teacher. You can tell she loves what she does and wants you to love it to.
Really helpful professor. there are a lot assignments and grading is a little tough but overall it was a good learning experience. she explains really well and really shows concern for her students.
She is really nice and caring towards her students. She provides a lot of helpful insight. I would recommend taking this professor. she also gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
Explains the material well. Lots of extra credit opportunities and the lowest quiz and test scores get dropped, but the papers can be difficult if you procrastinate (oops). Easy A if you work hard for it by coming to class, doing the papers, and studying. 3 hour class but we have a few comic relief video breaks and one stretch your legs break.
Great lectures. as long as you attend class and pay attention you can made a good grade. very knowledgeable. if she was teaching other Psych classes I would sign up for them.
Some of the instructions we were given at the beginning of the semester were not fulfilled. The Grading rubric for our article Critique was not followed. She even told us that she would be teaching every class, then left for a couple of weeks and had her TA, which was awful. She used the word 'like' in every sentence, which drove me crazy.
She made good power points which included comic relief and analogies to help understanding. She didn't assign too much work. The only complaint I have is that Shelly teaches while the TA (Sarah) grades, emails, etc. There seemed to be a big split in communication which was annoying at times. But overall, great course and good professor!
Three hour night classes are either boring or fun and interesting. There's no in between. I have to give her credit for being the latter. Her tests can be a little rough, but they're not that bad. I do wish she gave a better guideline on her very last paper. Overall, I'd take her again and she was leagues better than my 1630 professor.
Shelly was great. Very nice and willing to work with us. She seemed a little over-worked so lectures were sometimes a little scattered - but overall a recommended instructor.
Shelly Sheinbein is a great teacher. She gives clear lectures that are pretty similar to her tests and she also gives a lot of chances for extra credit. I would definitely take her again. Class is mandatory since she gives a quiz every class, but it really helps for the test. Its also a good idea to read the textbook.
Shelly's class was a really fun and enjoyable experience. But that's not to say I didn't learn lot, because I definitely did. I'm not the type of person that likes to take 3 hour night classes once a week, but this prof kept the class from being boring and held even my short attention span. If I had to take the class again, I definitely would.
Great teacher and one of my favorites. Very helpful. Very kind. Always make sure to check your email after emailing her because it usually requires more action on your part. She's willing to work with you if you have a legitimate problem so always make sure to speak with or email her when necessary.
Attending class is not mandatory but she gives pop quizzes (usually on Wednesdays) so it's a good idea to attend!
She is literally the epitome of the perfect professor, not too hard nor too easy, grades reflect the effort one puts into the class. Skipping class is a gamble due to pop quizzes but why skip, listening in on her lectures helps as one reads the textbook.
Ms. Sheinbein is awesome. She starts off lectures with a funny video (ie. best parks & rec moments, cats, etc.) and she encourages questions and feedback. She doesn't take attendance but there are pop quizzes after every chapter so it's important to attend. You can get by without the book but it will help you understand the concepts better.
Awesome professor! She knows her stuff. Very fair with exams and papers. Your effort determines your grade. Would definitely take her again!
Very enthusiastic and fun teacher! Exams are fair and assignments have clear instructions. Sometimes her explanations are a little confusing but she is very knowledgeable. Would recommend her class.
She is very knowledgeable about Psychology and makes sure that you understand everything before moving on. Her tests can be somewhat confusing but overall very simple and easy if you go to class and listen. Total of 4 papers, 9 quizzes and 3 exams + the final. Gives up to 25 points extra credit!
She's great, but sometimes she over explains and concepts are hard to grasp.
She is very passionate about the subject but at times i found myself nodding off. Also, she tends to make confusing topics even more confusing.
Really good teacher that explains things well. For the first test, I didn't study at all and still got an A. She also gives you an opportunity for lots of extra credit.. The only thing is that she gives a pop quiz every week, which is really annoying. But overall, it's a great and interesting class to take. Would definitely recommend!
She is super energetic and makes the class fun, offers lots of extra credit and does great reviews for exams.
All the lectures are posted a little while after class, but there are pop quiz that you have to show up to class more.
She's an amazing person! She does give pop quizzes but they're fairly easy if you go to class. She gives plenty of extra credit and clearly respects her students.
Good teacher, encourages real-world applications of concepts. According to her, this is her last year teaching. She will be dearly missed.
She always as a funny video before class and keeps lectures interesting. Enthusiastic and gives lots of real-life examples. Fun class and learned some interesting things, even though a lot was things I've already picked up from my bio class.
She gives extra credit as well as in depth study guides. The only difficult test questions are real world examples that can be a bit more interpretive. The papers aren't difficult, but the make a difference paper requires some thought and time. The pop quizzes force attendance, but they're grade boosters. I'm sad this is her last year.
Shelly is a very good professor and cares about her students passing. You will not be disappointed by going to her class.
Shelly is a very good professor and cares about her students passing. You will not be disappointed by going to her class!!
3 exams with an optional final. 3 papers and 8 quizzes! easy course just show up and read the book and you will get an A. she gives lots of chances for extra credit.
She's a great teacher and a little goofy at times in a good way.
The reviews and powerpoints she provides really makes the difference in how easy the course is with the right material.
Shelly Sheinbein is a wonderful professor. she really enjoys teaching. She likes for students to think creatively and freely. She gives tons of opportunities for extra credit and generally wants to reward her students for doing their work and showing up to class. I would recommend her to anyone.
She had pop quizzes but they were all over the lectures in class. So, if you went back and looked at your notes then you are surely going to pass the quizzes. She keeps the class entertaining. I was never bored. She was an incredible professor!
The pop quizzes are rough but the material is interesting, Shelly is very clear, and the tests are easy IF you study. Fun course, Highly recommend.
Shelly is a very good professor. She explains things clearly and goes into plenty of detail. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, she won't make you feel stupid for your question. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will have 9 quizzes and you never know when those will be so I suggest going to class. The class is fun and intriguing.
she's a good prof and as long as you read the book you will be fine
Very good teacher, show up to class if your aren't familiar with psychological terminology.
She's a really nice professor! I would definitely recommend her but I think this is her last semester teaching. All of the powerpoints are from the book and she goes into detail so you don't have to ready unless you want to study more for the tests (that are relatively easy). She also have a lot of extra point opportunities. Would def take again.
Good lectures. 3 exams lots of extra credit. Kind of boring
I love psychology so I enjoyed this class. However, I think I would have done better if there were more information on the powerpoints because she talks too fast for us to write down what she is saying.
Professor Sheinbein explains each lecture very well. She is really corney, but it is so funny. She plays a funny youtube video at the beginning of each class and is overall a great professor. I highly suggest herr to future students.
she was very clear and forward about the expectations. She is a great lecturer and gives great real life examples, seeing a Hippo in my campus will stay with me for the rest of my life. I highly reccommend her and I know she will do great things in life!
BEST professor I have ever taken! Lectures are interesting and not boring at all! Show up to class everyday and you'll get an A.
She was a great teacher. She starts class off with some form of humor. (Youtube video) She is always happy and loves to answer questions and hear examples from the students. She explains topics easily and tends to give extra credit on occasion. (Days when most of the class is empty) She does not try to trick you. I always enjoyed her class.
She's an over all pretty cool professor. Her lectures are fairly interesting and she's super bubbly. Shelly shows youtube videos to lighten up the mood. If you do every assignment expect an A. She also gives extra credit which is pretty clutch. Take her!!
One of the best teachers I've had. So grateful to have been a part of her last class.
I loved taking Shelly's class! She's honestly been my favorite professor at UNT. She keeps lectures lively and always repeats herself and answers every dumb question without hesitation. Bubbly is the perfect word to describe her. Very easy to track grade and do well. I really wish I could take her again!!!
Excellent class structure with fun lectures and online slides. Clear grading rubric for papers. Good class and teacher overall
She is a great professor who truly cares about her students. Make sure to take notes during lectures on what's not talked about on the slides and perhaps reading would help.
One of the nicest professors I've had so far! She's always in such a great mood and willing to help you with any questions you have. She makes the class fun and actually cares if you do well. She's really easy to talk to and explains all the topics really clearly.
This prof is great! She lectures are fun and shows videos and gives a bunch of extra credit. Just be aware of pop quizzes. I highly recommend her.
Overall, very nice and understanding, there to help. Test are kinda difficult because she does which is the best choice, so you have to know what she thinks is. Gives lots of extra credit though. And she speeds through lectures so got to be able to take fast notes.
Professor Shelly gives a clear understanding of the course. She manages to keep our attention for the 50 minutes we are in the class without boring us. She is very helpful when it comes to any questions we may have. Overall her lectures were very entertaining.
She does this "funny video" segment at the start of class, but I find the lectures to be rather boring regardless of the video. It was personally hard for me to stay focused during her lectures. She's nice tho! Slides are online, but it won't make any sense to you unless you were in class and took good notes. You can't miss class. Read the book.
She is a very good teacher in my opinion. She always shows funny videos at the beginning of class and her lectures are never very long or boring. You will have to study for this class, but I would not say that it is hard.
Great class. Funny videos in the beginning of class. Offers plenty of extra credit and is entertaining.
She's really easy to understand and she uses humor to really get the class interested! Would recommend if you enjoy psychology
Professor Sheinbein was an amazing teacher and I have learned a lot from her this semester. It is sad that this was her last semester of teaching, but I am happy I was able to experience her teaching methods and learn from her.
She is a very sweet professor and shows us funny videos before the start of every class! Very helpful and is willing to clarify questions! HAVE to study for texts and do the reviews! then it will be easy, must do all assignments! 3 Articles Critiques and a Make a Difference Paper, not too hard and expectations are legit! I would highly recommend!!!
Honestly, she's a great teacher. She knows the material very thoroughly, so don't be scared to ask questions. starts off the class in a very positive mood by playing a funny video. i really enjoyed her class cause she explains things very well. highly recommend taking her class!
