makes constant mistakes. sometimes on even entire concepts. very long and arduous tests. minimal partial credit. brutal tests. only plus is she lets you look at the HW solution manual. eager to cause trouble. not reccomended. 2 thumbs down.
very fun class and crazy teacher
does make mistakes and doesn't even know it! office hours after night classes that already run late, & then more socializing than explaining. tests so poorly planned no one finishes, giving extra time makes it even later. kiss butt and you'll do okay enough even if you won't learn much.
She is a good teacher and very helpful. She lets you know what is important and which things are crucial to know. If you do the HW problems you'll do good in this class / on her tests.

Lehavi is really nice and approachable. Though she does seem to make more than a few errors during lecture, she does explain concepts with enough clarity to get you through her tests.
She speaks too fast. If you miss an important concept during her class you'll be doom. She gives you a bunch of home work that will never be on a test. And as some body else said before if you want to ask questions during office hours she gives you a skimn explanation and tell you to look at the book. If you can avoid this teacher.
Took this class last semester. Pulled an A while studying like it was a 3 unit class. Her lectures are very clear and to the point. On top of that, compared to the course content of CSUN's Calc 3, we covered the entire text when they stopped about 2/3 of the way. Highly recommended, and looking forward to taking her section of 270 in the Spring.
She speaks faster than a auction controller. She speaks faster than a horse running. Her notes on the Chalk board are worse than a 1st grader. Who ever said anything good about this teacher, don't listen to them please. If you take this class with her, you should be able to teach yourself. Good luck, and may the force be with you, always.
She does talk a bit fast i agree but she's very good in general. She's super nice too. I cannot imagine her getting angry.
One of the best math teachers at pierce, if not the best. Take her! p.s. Yoshiwara at pierce blows and so does Makhluf at valley college. Ive taken every math class in lower division and out of all the teachers she was the best.
this teacher talks tooooo fast. can't keep up with her. her tests are hard. however she is very nice and gives you office hours to see her if you have any questions.
I don't know what everyone is whining about. I took her class, and literally did all my work jsut off notes. I probably did 5 assignments the whole year and still passed the class. Her tests come straight from her notes and HW! Take her, she is great! If you think she is hard, don't forget that Calculus is a tough subject!
This class is so easy! She is very clear about what she wants you to know, and the tests and quizzes are all problems in the homework. She drops your lowest test score, too.Just make sure you go to class and don't miss quizzes and do the homework, and you'll be fine. There is homework every night like every math class.
she is the best ever
Calculus is freakin hard! Prof. Lehavi made it a little easier. You get to use hwk on quizes, and most of the problems on the tests come from the homework, or are just like it. She offers extra credit, so you better do it. Do the homework, shoe up to class, and you'll be fine. If I have to take 262, I would probably take Prof. Lehavi again.
Absolutely great teacher, have not even received my grade yet, but i know I will pass, extremely helpful and encourages class participation rather than talking to a white bored for 2hrs, makes herself avail during office hrs, one of the best math prof at Pierce. But of coarse , you HAVE to study for a math class, but Lehavi makes it LESS PAINFULL
it's a super tough class but she makes a genuine effort to help. she makes herself available. calc is really hard and i barely got by with a C. but she helped me every step of the way. she's a cute little jewish mother
Ok, yeah math sucks balls, and yeah it IS hard but Lehavi REALLY makes the effort to help you understand. And she'll go outta her way for a good student. If she sees you're making an honest effort to pass she'll help you out. She's the best math professor I've EVER had =D I enjoyed her class, really!
I like her. She does make mistakes at times but who doesn't? There is A LOT of homework though. But overall I liked her, I think she explains math very well, I recommend this professor. She's super nice as well and has a sense of humor.
i got a B in her spring cal 1 class, but i could have made an A. Her exams are mostly like homework questions.IF u do homework well, you can get good grades. She teaches without boring, but very fast, need a good attention. Attendance and homework is very important,i would say, lost my grades because of late attendance and skipping homeworks.
Don't take her for calc. I had to drop the class because of her hard tests. The homework quizzes are easy if you do your homework, but her tests will cause you to fail unless you are a genius.
Very hard class. Homework quizzes are easy if you understand the homework, but her tests are impossible. She caused me to get a W.
Nice lady, but very hard calc class. A lot of students dropped because her teaching is not too good. She is caring and sweet, but not recommended to take for any math class.
Great Professor. Class is very homework intensive. It is meant for elementary school teachers but you dont have to want that career. I didnt but now I am considering it. Tests are really based on lectures and hw. Showing up is very important, but not technically mandatory.
I took her class for math 120 and she is a gret professor who actually cares for her students and wnats them to pass. She is very helpful as well, if you go into her office hours she'll sit and help you. I have always struggled with math/geometry, but she made it very clear. I am going to tke her for math 125.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Not an easy A nor hard
She is very helpful and nice. She goes around the classroom checking on your work and helps you out if she notices you struggling. She explains the material well plus she's hot in my eyes.
i love her class. Make Calc fun!!!! do the online homework and u're perfectly fine!!!
Prof. Lehavi is full of energy. She has a tendency to talk really fast - it's best if you are on top of the subject before going to a lecture. She blows through calculations and you have to pay close attention. Occasionally miscalculates, so it's helpful if you know how to do the work before class. If you have an early AM class, she is not early.
She is veryn nice, easy going on the students that don't even deserve it. She gives the easier problems on the test. If you do bad, it really is your own fault. Like any class, do the work ask questions and with her, get the very basics, and you're fine. Not bitter at all and has a sense of humor. Moves fast but you cover the course material.
shes an average instructor. she doesnt have patience for students.I believe she likes to make assumptions about students based on appearance.overall its an average class.I wish I chose a different instructor though.
Knows the subject well and how to explain it. May go a little fast during the first few weeks, but you'll learn to keep up. Tests are not too difficult. Questions are usually the same as in the homework or heavily hinted during lectures. Also very helpful during office hours. Recommended if Calculus is not your best subject.
She's very clear, nice and lets you know if she skips steps on problems so that you wont get lost. I thought I couldn't learn by watching her do problems in class until I missed classes- so just make sure you try to attend class regularly. overall one of the best math professors at pierce.
Professor Lehavi is currently one of the nicest, smartest, and most educated instructor in the math department at pierce. lectures are very clear and precise. overall I loved the class, her helpfulness, and of course her personality. calculus is a hard course but she made it a lot easier.study andyou will get a good grade. I studied and got an A :)
she is one of best prof for math. she helps you out through the class.her office hours is so helpful and beneficial. you can get an A if you just attend and pay attention and do online homework on time.
Prof. was very nice but her class is VERY fast paced. She doesn't really seem to have much patience. Seeing her at office hours is definitely a must.
She's cool but she does make you work. I guess it's to make you better at understanding. She'll definitely help if you ask. She uses the example exercises from the book and has you do them in class sometimes with a partner, which helps. Just do the hw because it'll really help to do well on the test. You can pass her class. Good luck!
Lectures are boring and she talks too fast. Tries to be too personal and judges students. Tests are fair, but she grades tough. If you're not one of her pets, drop.
Lehavi is a really good teacher! She is honestly one of my new favorites. You have to study a lot and be very dedicated but she is very helpful and really cares about her students. She does everything she can to make it as clear as possible and assigns a lot of work and classwork which helps a lot it keeps you on top of the material.
She is, by far, the best mathematics teacher at Pierce College. She is very well-organized with her own work and encourages the students to do that as well. Her method of teaching is very good and she tries to be as helpful as she can.
Best math professor.
Absolutely amazing teacher! She's a sweetheart, very polite & dedicated. Always on time, though out the course you know your grade. Very honest, not arrogant. I took her in winter, CALC 1, 5 weeks course from 8 am to 12:15. It was a hell, but she somehow managed to make it enjoyable. It was very hard though but she's the best at Pierce.
Not the best Math Professor. Took her for Calc after already taking it before and knowing the material, went to ALL office hours, worked hard and still got a B. I also got the highest grade on one test, If you're not naturally good at math don't take her. She's not clear. Go to Valley and Take Professor Shin. TRUST ME. It's worth the hassle.
she's great! questions on tests are heavily hinted during class. pay attention and do homework. bottom line... if math is your strong suit, TAKE HER!
She is a nice instructor and has experience in the subject. If math is cake for you, then the class is quite easy as long as you do the homework and pay attention in class. If math isnt your thing, calculus will be tough no matter who you take. She does her best to make it clear but sometimes travels too fast. Take her... she's better than the rest
DONT take her unless you have a crystal clear understanding of the material already. She assumes ALL students have taken calculus already. She skims through the material and gives 3 or 4 practice problems. She goes the book quickly. NOT the best. If you are REALLY good at math then you can pass but if math isnt your best subject then stay away.
this class was very difficult she can't explain very well and if you ask any question she always said you should know that if you don't know math very well don't take this class
One of few really good community college math teachers I've ever had. She is very clear on her lectures what is going to be on the exam, so attendance is a must. The amount of homework she gives is fair; not too much that it takes forever, and not to little that the class barely gets any practice. She is very helpful when you ask her questions.
This review is long overdue. She's awful!!! Considering she is also department chair (I don't know how she got that position), only makes it worse. Gives very unrealistic exams & has ridiculous expectations. Expects you to already know the material & gets annoyed when you ask her to do it again! Do not take her, she shouldn't be allowed to teach!
Prof Lehavi changed my life. She is an incredible teacher and a wonderful person. She is very clear and doesnt care how many times you ask the same question, she is always there to explain. I have taken her for two different classes and i would take her again and again. She is the type of teacher that stays with you for the rest of your life.
She is a teacher that really cares about her students and it shows. She gives extra credit opportunities and is always available during office hours to go over the material or answer questions about your grade. She is fair on exams and does her best to make sure that everyone understands. The class has a lot of material, so keeping up is important.
Professor Lehavi is easily my favorite professor at pierce college. Her lectures are thorough, her homework is exactly what she lectures on, and her tests are also similar. She focuses on making sure students understand the material and encourages questions. Besides that, her personality is amazing. She's funny and caring. Would 100% recommend her!
She is the most amazing person I've met at Pierce college. she knows what she is doing. her lectures are super helpful and I learned a lot from her.
It wasn't too hard plus Lehavi's good at teaching it. Despite it being early morning she was able to keep everyone awake. Plus she learns everyone's names early which makes her approachable, and consequently everyone flooded her office during office hours. Lot of people got A's and homework is assigned daily but it's a reasonable amount.
Before you take her class based on her reviews, look at what people took her for. I took her for MATH 261 and I regret doing so, because she is my only B that I received. Her tests till this day give me goosebumps thinking about them, because they are so hard and the only thing she cares about. I really tried in her class but it was all in vain.
Professor Sheri Lehavi is the Queen of Math. She is teaching CALC 3 in the Spring 2019. Take her class; It's going to be the most delightful experience in your college life.
The best Math professor ever.
This is really an easy class. Just study her notes and u will earn a good grade.
3 midterms, 2 projects, and a cumulative final. The exams are usually easy. However, each exam has at most 3 questions that has nothing to do what has taught. Lehavi expects the student to understand the material as fast as she is teaching it. She often brushes over a concept and does not go back to it. Grades the homework leniently. Good luck.
Her class is a piece of cake. She provides some online notes, and does several examples in class. If students have problem with online Home Work, she will do them in class as well. 3 Big Tests, 1 Final, 2 Home Projects and a few small exams, all very easy. She is the best Math Professor. Take her classes; you will enjoy.
3 midterms, 2 take homes, cumulative final. The quizzes and exams have concept questions, so you must be comfortable with the sections that have been taught. Go to office hours to gain a better understanding. Calc 3 was hard, especially with Lehavi, but I feel confident going into upper division math courses. I learned so much with this Prof.
Had her for the Spring 2020 semester. She was a great teacher while we were in class with her lectures. When COVID happened and everything went online, she was perhaps the only teacher of mine that felt like class had gotten better. Sympathetic, caring, kept us updated and readily available even outside class and office hours via WhatsApp and Zoom.
She definitely cares about the students' understanding of the material. She is almost always available to help students with anything they may misunderstand. She does a great job at structuring the course as well.
I took her class based on the ratings here but had to drop. She is a really organized, caring and accessible but her class felt more like an honors class. It was really stressful. Exams had definitions, T/F and problem solving questions all due within a time limit and taken live with the camera on to prevent cheating.
Made a great transition to online classes. Extremely responsive and accommodating. The material is challenging but she prepares you well to handle it. Exams cover both conceptual questions and regular problems. HW does a good job of training your approach. Very helpful during office hours - use them. Would strongly recommend Lehavi for any math.
She's a caring person that wants you to pass, but she doesn't teach. We had zoom meetings every morning and she mostly went off topic and took a long time on irrelevant things when she could have been giving examples. Her tests are worth a lot. The only way to pass this class is if you study on your own.
She is a very engaging teacher but she makes the material very confusing. She over-explains making it difficult to pay attention in class. There are 4 tests worth 100 points each plus a 200 point final. Homework is assigned every day but you are given 2 days to complete it. Personally, I did not like her teaching style but to each its own.
Took online Calc1 lots of homework and the tests aren't that easy. If you study a bit and take a lot of notes you will be fine the class isn't too hard and she has a lot of points to make up for test grades. Lectures are boring and she goes off topic but she gets through a lot of material. Helps a lot in office hours too, overall a good teacher
By far the best math professor I've had. It's not easy but she is always available to her students for extra help. I was so nervous to take calc but she is amazing both at teaching and as a person. Taking again for calc 2.
She is amazing and extremely caring, just make sure to show up to class, ask questions if confused, and most importantly do the HW the day it's assigned and it will be easy A. The test is very fair and just like expected. The worst part of the class is just the online website you use for HW, but that's a department thing mainly and not her choice.
She was a really good teacher and was very helpful whenever someone was struggling. Overall a good professor, tests are not curved.
Professor Lehavi is an amazing person and will always help you. But, she does not get the material across clearly. She spends most of the class deriving the formulas and other material, rather than just explaining the process of completing the problems. Take this class if you have a true passion for math. Expect to do a lot of work outside of class
Good professor but too much work!!!
Prof. Lehavi is easily one of the best professors at LAPCC, she is almost always available either via discord, canvas, or in person for assistance with homework, test corrections, career questions, etc... She is super helpful, empathetic, and explains topics with great detail and understanding. Calc 3 can be overwhelming, but taking Lehavi is nice.
LAPC hired a gem in Prof. Lehavi. She is the best math teacher I've ever had and probably ever have. Watching her teach is like watching a master work their craft. She is able to have lighthearted moments and still manage to push all the info into your head. It is a pleasure walking into her classroom. This class made me like math.
I'll be honest, I love math which is why I did so well in this class. She has a kind heart and will always help you, but this class was not a joke. Tons of homework and a lot of studying. The tests are not like the homework. In class she doesn't really give problems like the hw. Take her if you like math. She's a good professor, just quite hard.
This is the most genuine professor I have ever met. She is a mother figure towards her students and would definitely assist you with any math or life problems. I love professor Lehavi from the bottom of my heart, and she's the most precious human being that ever existed in this world
Took her for winter class. She is amazing! She engages in her students, does sample questions with you and makes sure you learn and understand the content. Calc II is hard but she has been the best math professor I have had! She explains VERY WELL. Take her and you wont regret it. Winter class requires full commitment.
Everything aboout her is perfection!
As my first math teacher coming into college, she was great. Really couldn't have asked for a better teacher. The important thing I think is showing up everyday, paying attention in class and doing the homework, which we had two days to complete. Very kind person who cares about your performance and always willing to help. Hoping to get her for ODE
Great class, She really cares about her students succeeding.
(This review is for Diff Eq) Very sweet and cares about individual students. Talks VERY fast, and notes are a tad messy. As a student who has done well in every other math course, her class was pretty tough if you're not used to a fast paced learning style. Exams are very doable, multiple choice on exam (with .5 credit with correct explanation).
Crams multiple chapters into a single week. No late homework. Can be passive-aggressive and refuses to review homework if not enough students start it. However, rarely considers that we may not have begun because she hadn't finished teaching the material. Instead of asking why we struggled, she makes comments like, "Y'all are falling behind."
Her tests are Moderately hard, but studying right will get you the score you need. homework's best for helping with the tests. Even the questions that seem unecessary (STILL STUDY THEM). She curved my final so I LOVE HER. GET 5/5 on ALL THE HOMEWORk it CARRY your grade in the end. The first test is a shocker. Show up to all the classes
Lectures can be difficult to follow in that she'll say how to do a problem with lack of detail through words rather than demonstrate it (fast talker as well). Multiple choice portion is brutal, so definitely focus on mc examples when studying. That being said, definitely do almost all the free response problems on the classwork worksheets as well.
She talks very quickly and it was hard for me to keep up during her lectures. I did my own notes, however she would move quickly so when I would look back at hers it was no help because they're pretty messy. Exams were hard I had to study even the 'unnecessary' topics. She wouldn't review homework if not enough people started it.
I would say take this class if you know you can keep up with a lot of material. I'm good at math but I had to teach myself a lot at home because she goes over notes so fast, answering problems as if everyone should know it rather than slowly teaching. She gets upset if not enough people came to class. Tests are hard so you should forsure study.
