Professor Moussa maintains office hours and is readily accessible to meet with students who have questions about the material, this makes him an very good teacher.
One of the best chemistry professors :) TAKE HIM!
He is so helpful and very smart! I wish I could take him for all my chemistry classes. He is the best professor I've had since attending VCU. He will help you with anything and he is very clear on what you need to know! TAKE HIM!!
Greatest professor at Vcu! Take him he is so clear and helpful! I suggest him to everyone! He is so smart and he knows what he is talking about and he is so willing to help students with whatever they need!
This class was an easy A for me. You don't have to go to class, but he does do clicker review questions. Going to class he really makes sure you understand everything. His quizes and exams are right off the review questions amd homework. He also drops a quiz. The ACS final was brutal.
He is very dedicated to his work and applies chemistry concepts to real life situations.
Sherif Moussa is the man. He is extremely clear in his explanations of material and goes to great lengths to make sure every student understands the material thoroughly. All his exams are straight from review questions. I wish he taught all of the chemistry courses. Brilliant professor.
Professor Moussa is very helpful, at first it was hard to understand him however he teaches with straight facts that help the flow of learning, I give up my thumbs up for choice.
By far best chemistry Professor. Wish there were more Professors like him since its rather rare to have such a good professor for Chemistry. He is extremely helpful and will go over something as many times as needed for his students to understand. He truly goes above and beyond to do his best. Thanks again Professor Moussa!
This dude is great. Very good teacher. Pick him or you will probably be complaining to your friends about how hard chemistry is and how your teacher is awful and all that other blah blah
Very helpful. Really enjoyed this class. I defiantly would take him again if I had a chance.
Hands down best Chemistry Professor at VCU! Although Chemistry is not super easy he is very helpful and tries his best to make sure you understand.
He is hands down the best Chemistry professor that I have ever had in my life. Although the course material can be hard, he breaks it down for his students. He is also very helpful and I recommend you to visit his office hours. GREAT TEACHER, TAKE HIM!
I took this class during the summer and got an A. It's my second time taking it though, got a C the first time with another professor. Regardless of the professor, Chem is a hard class. But Dr. Moussa made it much easier to understand. He will explains things over and over for you. My first professor would get annoyed if we asked for my examples.
I took Chem 101 with professor Moussa in the summer and truly enjoyed the class because of how great he tought it. Currently, I am taking his class for Chem 102 and he definetly knows his chemistry! He knows how to teach it and is very helpful inside and outside the class. His tests/quizzes are questions he goes over in class. Super awesome!
Very helpful, cares deeply about his students and wants us to succeed. Very accessible during office hours and will help you with whatever you ask (homework, quiz questions, etc). Reviews all topics in class and posts all reviews/powerpoints/quizzes on Blackboard with the problems worked out. I highly recommend taking him!
He is great. He makes sure you are able to understand the material before moving forward. Take this his class. Chem 102 may be hard but he makes it easy.
He's a great teacher, he won't continue onto new material until every student understands the concepts, which is uncommon of college professors. He reviews everything so you are well prepared for the exam. He relates his experiences and explains how it involved chemistry. You won't find a better chemistry professor at VCU. Take his class!
Professor Moussa is an incredibly kind and helpful professor. He tries to keep the material to where everyone can understand it. I took this class once with Polo and struggled greatly, now I'm taking it with Professor Moussa and have almost a perfect score in the class. Take him for Chem 101! Best professor for this class!
Professor Moussa is an extremely great professor. He keeps it as simple as he can, seeing as it is a pretty difficult subject for many people. He's an exceptionally intelligent teacher and clearly wants his students to do as good as they can. I am hoping I can take him for chem 102 next semester!!
Great class, haven't received an A yet but i'm willing to bet i will. Moussa is a great teacher and i believe the best choice for taking chemistry. He has passion towards chemistry and that allows him to teach all the better.
Moussa is the best! Chem 102 is so much easier than 101 since I have him as my professor now. He gives really great review homework that really helps me understand and get prepared for exams. He even has review days in class! He explains things very well and makes chemistry fun and easy for me and the rest of the class!
Good teacher. Always willing to answer questions and help students in his office hours.
He is an amazing and intelligent chemistry teacher! Everyone should take his class. He gives tons of examples and is always willing to help.. He wants his students to do well in the course! His notes are very clear, which helps a lot for exams and it can be an easy A if you put the time in to understand the material
Great teacher. however, his notes are slightly disorganized. Other than that he is fantastic
He is a great professor. He's more focused on your understanding of the material rather than getting the grade. All of his tests are very similar to the review questions he puts up on blackboard which is very helpful for studying. He also reviews a little bit at the beginning of each class. I would recommend him. BEST chem professor ive had yet.
He's the most caring and passionate teacher I've ever had! He repeatedly goes over any topic in lecture that a student has trouble with and he genuinely wants his students to do well. There are 6 quizzes and 3 exams, and he posts review questions before every quiz/exam and they are 85% verbatim, the review questions. So easy to get an A!
He is awesome. Very helpful and caring. The best chem teacher I ever had. I can't wait to take his class again!
Chemistry 102 with Moussa is a breeze. I have never met a professor so passionate about a subject. Professor Moussa loves to teach and is willing to go over and beyond to help you. He is not tricky on his quizzes and tests and some of his questions come from the questions from lecture. Come to class for clicker questions!
He is the best professor ever to teach Chemistry at VCU. He make sure you understand the material. You can always go to his office hours and he will help you to his best of ability. he is an A+ Professor.
favorite teacher at vcu. you can tell he really cares for the student and is willing to provide his time in order for his students to succeed. Thanks professor.
Dr Moussa is a super teacher! He will go out of his way to help you and MEANS it when he says come to his office hours for help! You have to put the time into studying, and SI sessions are VERY helpful. Learn the equations as not all are given on the exams, and it can sometimes be confusing as to which will be given and which you need to learn.
This class is really interesting and Professor Moussa is a wonderful teacher. He is really straightforward. Best teacher I have!
I wish I had taken him before instead of having withdraw on my transcript! Hands down best professor ever:) I wish all the professors at VCU were like him everyone would be successful. He wants you to learn and pass. If you find Chemistry hard help yourself and take him. All you hard work will pay off for sure.
Without Sherif Moussa, I would have given up on Chemistry all together. I have failed all MY previous chemistry classes because my professors wouldn't take the time to actually TEACH, But Sherif Moussa takes the time to answer questions and genuinely wants you to learn from him. DO NOT HESITATE TO SIGN UP FOR HIS CLASS!
Very good professor. Exams and quizzes come directly from his notes!
Great professor!!! really helpful and guaranteed A if you study the review packet before a quiz or test because he takes questions right out of these packets.
He is AMAZING. You can just tell he loves what does and it translates across in his lectures. He helps you as much as you need, but you have to put in the other 50% in...and that means going to recitations at 8 am, and not just for exams/quizzes. Extremely lucky to have him and if you have him there is no way you can not attain an A. CHOOSE MOUSSA!
He is very helpful and will do anything to help each student receive a high grade. He can be quite funny at times also.
Very good professor, brilliantly explained. There are multiple opportunities for help and if you attend class, you can't fail.
really easy if you review the power points and extremely helpful when you ask any type of question
What a great help he was, always offering his office hours for his students to come in for assistance. I would highly recommend this professor.
BEST CHEM TEACHER AT VCU! Whatever you do, don't take Topich. Moussa actually cares if you do well and is always available to help. Answers email quickly, and has flexible office hours. If you don't do well, there is something wrong with you.
Moussa is extremely passionate about chemistry and his passion makes the class enjoyable and easy. He's willing to answer any question and explains things really well. Exams and quizzes come from the review questions. Take Moussa!
Moussa posts practice questions before quizzes and tests, and he usually goes over them in class as clicker questions. About half your quiz/test will have these questions in some form. This semester, he's dropping 2 quizzes, and for homework, as long as you get 80% overall, he'll give you an A. He genuinely wants all his students to do well
He is a great professor. Loves what he does and gives plenty of examples. Always available to help. Do the work, look at the reviews, go to class, you'll get an A.
I am absolutely in LOVE with him. He wants you to get an A. Very helpful, very passionate, and not to mention adorable. Keep up with his review questions on blackboard and you'll succeed. If you do the work, TRUST ME, you'll get the A.
Absolutely the best chemistry teacher at VCU. His slides are clear and lectures are very helpful. U can tell he cares about his students. ACS was tough, but I managed to do well enough to get an A overall. Use his office hours if u need them. Whenever me and my friend didn't understand something we both went and Moussa explained it so it made sense
Moussa is an okay professor. Honestly, I bombed the ACS and I did not have the greatest grades because I kept putting chem on the back burner, but I came out with a B. I wanted an A very badly, but to get one I should have studied the past quizzes, recitation, and ppt slide notesmore; his tests are heavily based off of previously tested knowledge.
Best teacher at VCU
The class is really hard.. but he gives you all the recourses you need to do well. I wish he did more examples in class of the problems besides the worked out ones in the book. He is very clear and really cares about the class doing well.
Professor Moussa is the man. After having him for Chemistry 101 and taking his class now, I can see I made the right choice. His examples are very helpful and his tests are straightforward and from the review. Take his class!
What a man! Prof. Moussa is the best way to learn chemistry. As he says, once you understand the concepts, it's all math, and that's the straight up truth. The best part is he is super clear about concepts so there's no way you won't understand those, and then it's just math the rest of the way. Take Moussa if you actually want to learn chem.
Excellent professor. He's really excited about the material and knows how to explain it clearly.
What a boss! Prof. Moussa is the best way to learn chemistry. As he says, once you understand the concepts, it's all math, and that's the straight up truth. The best part is he is super clear about concepts so there's no way you won't understand those, and then it's just math the rest of the way. Take Moussa if you actually want to learn chem.
Professor Moussa is seriously one of the best professors I've ever had. I probably would've cried if I didn't finally get into one of his sections for 102, as I had him for 101. No reason for you to do poorly, as as he literally does everything for you to get an A. Plus, its always refreshing to see a professor who cares so deeply for what he does.
Moussa is very passionate, which makes lectures nice to follow. He loves it when students answer questions, and will do reviews in class before exams. Powerpoint contents are usually found in the textbook. Online hw is extremely easy, with less than 10 questions on MasteringChem. He provides a majority of formulas on exams.
Moussa is an awesome professor. He spends half of class explaining things in his own words, writing things out on the board. I love that he doesn't just sit and read off a powerpoint. He explains things multiple ways to ensure you understand. He seriously cares that his students succeed and always reminds us that he always available for questions.
This proff is great!! Its hard for me to catch on to things but he makes it so clear and really breaks it down. He gives reviews before quizzes and tests! If u do good in the quizzes you are bound to do great on the test. His guidelines are great, he drops a bad quiz, bad exam, and bad homework! I am definitely taking him for chem 102
Dr. Moussa is the best! Definitely take him if you have the chance.
Moussa is one of the best teaches at VCU. He actually cares about all of his students and while lecturing will always stop to answer questions and make sure we all understand what's going on. His test and quizzes are very fair as long as you study. I am def taking him for 102!
I have never met a more caring professor and I don't think I ever will! He is the best!! Take him
He is very passionate about Chemistry and he is very helpful.
Very good/passionate professor. Isn't like those others professors who doesn't care if a student is failing. He gives us many opportunities to pass. teaches well
Very good teacher, such a nice guy and very passionate about chemistry and teaching. A bit hard to understand sometimes because he moves a little fast but he is always there to help you get a good grade.
I like him very much. He's probably one of the best chemistry teachers i've had and he is very considerate too. He takes his time to help students cause he wants us to do good in his class. He has a really strong accent though but I'm ok with it and i think others are too.
He is very helpful and will try his best to make sure you succeed in class. I was struggling at the beginning but I went to the SI sessions and asked questions in class and he will answer and explain it to you until you finally understand the concept. He is very passionate about chemistry.
Absolutely the greatest chemistry professor I have taken at VCU. He goes over a lot of examples and explains concepts until everyone gets it. Even if he just went over something like 3 times and you ask a question about it he has no problem or attitude about going back over it again until it is clear. Definitely taking him for 102. He's so helpful.
Moussa is the nicest man, he truly cares about his students and always reminds us of it. He is extremely helpful in office hours and he never reads right off the powerpoint. He spends an entire class explaining the concepts first which is great. Coming from a student who got a C in 101, I have an A in 102 right now... TAKE MOUSSA. He's adorable.
Great teacher!!! He's incredibly passionate, and very willing to help anyone who asks for it. Don't expect an easy A, but do expect a good grade if you put in the effort. Would take again!
Great teacher. It is chemistry so it will obviously be a little difficult, but Moussa makes it very realistic to get an A. If you understand his chapter reviews and exam reviews, there is no way for you to not get an A. He also drops the lowest two quizzes and replaces the lowest exam. Many chances to get an A in this class. Cares about students.
Moussa is a nice person and very enthusiastic about chemistry but he doesn't prep you for ACS. He recycles his problems so students already know what's gonna be on the test and is not challenging. I took him Fall 2013 and I had to retake this course since I along with most people in the class failed ACS.
Moussa is a Great teacher, very passionate about what he does, by far this is one of my favorite class of the semester. I learned a lot from his lectures, if you have any questions or concern, He is always available in his office hours and willing to help. Take him!!!
Great guy, very passionate. Very LOUD, which was a bit overwhelming at first. He uses the exact same questions over and over; first on the review, again on the quiz and then again on the exam. But now I'm going to fail the ACS because I've become a question memorizer- its clear I don't know chemistry, but I have an A in this class. A to F in 1 hour
Moussa is the best chem professor in VCU. I have had him for chem 101 and I retook Chem 102 with him. His exams are fair, straight from the materials we cover and reviews, I was little worry going into the ACS-exam but his final review folder are good prep for the ACS exam, I scored A in the ACS and A in the class, I wish he teaches Organic!!
Professor Moussa is by far one of the best Chem professors that VCU has to offer. I took him for Chem 101 and Chem 102, had a B for both subjects. He is extremely helpful and cares a lot about the success of his students. The tests/quizzes are based off of what was taught during lecture. Like any class, you still have to study hard for a good grade
Moussa is the best chemistry teacher VCU has. I got and A in his 101 class and took him for 102 and was doing ok but totally failed the ACS exam. Rough!
"Finally, I want to say that I enjoyed teaching everyone of you and care about everyone of you, and I try to help everyone to the maximum of my abilities" He sends emails like this often. That is why loved having him as a teacher. He's not easy, he's just that good as a teacher. He even makes sure his TAs are on point at recitation to help you.
Dr. Moussa is honestly the best Chemistry professor at VCU. I passed Chemistry 102 with a B this semester and can honestly say I felt prepared going into the ACS. Just supplement the class examples with the ACS book and you'll be straight. Take Moussa for both 101 and 102 if you're able to, you won't regret it.
Moussa is easy, hands down, but the fact that his tests and quizzes are so easy does not help you learn the material. Therefore, I did great on all the exams and quizzes, and nearly failed the ACS. He also DOES NOT take his time to teach the material, he just zips by all the lectures. STUDY for that ACS guys, it's no joke.
Moussa is the best professor I have had at VCU. He knows what he is doing, very knowledgeable and smart. He focus on teaching and making sure we understand the materials on hand. I would recommend him to anyone and would love to have him again for any class.
Dr. Moussa is by far the best professor I have had in chemistry, He is very passionate, and extremely knowledgeable in Chemistry, and it reflect very well in the classroom. I did have him for 101 and 102, and although I am not a huge fan of chemistry, I am a fan of his teaching. Definitely recommend Moussa:))
He is very helpful and shows great deal of interest in making sure we understand what he is talking about. He has no problem answering any questions, very knowledgeable about what he is teaching. I loved his class and learned a lot about chemistry in his class.
He was applauded by our class at the end of the semester. Great professor, very helpful and cares about every student. Love his style of teaching and wish he taught ORGO 1 and 2. If you put the effort, you won't get anything less than a B.
Moussa is by far one of my favorite professors and to think I would say that about a course like chemistry! He is incredibly helpful (email responsive), cares about the students and does everything he can to give the best explanation of the material. I am so lucky to have been a part of this class!
Best Chem teacher by far!
He's a great chem teacher, one of the best I've had so far. He is super helpful and the lectures are very clear. I really wish I could have him for orgo next semester
He has an accent, but if you can look past that, you will be amazed. I hate chemistry will a passion; I am just taking it for CompE prerequisites. I never learn so much and had a decent time in lecture before. Lots of extra credit for the easiest things you can imagine. BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR EVER!!!
Dr. Moussa is an amazing professor! Really wish he taught organic chemistry as well. He makes sure his students actually understand what he's teaching--always asks if anyone has questions and would sometimes explain things twice just to make sure you actually get it. Test and quizzes are exactly like the practice ones he posts, so do them!
Dr. Moussa is an outstanding professor. He will make sure that his students understand the material before he goes on to teach anything else. I believe he truly cares about his students success and wishes for them to succeed. I definitely 100% recommend him! Make sure to do the reviews, they're exactly like his tests and quizzes!!
He is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life! I did good on his test but failed the ACS exams. To do good in his class you can do yourself a favor and learn on your own. People like him because he's easy not because he prepares you
Dr. Moussa is the best Chemistry teacher at VCU by far. Honestly I can say I felt prepared going into the ACS exam. The exam was hard, but I was able to get an A in the ACS-exam, just supplement the class review questions with the ACS book and you'll be fine. Take Moussa for both 101 and 102 if you're able to, you won't regret it.
Moussa is amazing. Helped me understand a class I had to drop last semester when I took it with Topich . This time I got an easy A and have changed my opinion on chemistry. I'm very pleased. You can be a question memorizer in this class, but I guarantee you will fail the ACS if you do this. Understand the material. He wants you to do well.
Fantastic teacher. Went from hating chem to loving it. Spends a lot of time explaining information in different ways, makes helpful connections to real life and his research. Go to all the clicker sessions, put in effort to understand -not memorize- and youll be golden. I loved this class!
His lectures are clear and his reviews are exactly like his quizzestests. I got a B on my ACS after his class, which is good. Make sure you spend time reviewing outside of class! I usually only went to class on review days and ended up a high B in the class. You'll be fine :)
Dr. Moussa is an excellent professor. he truly cares about his students success and wishes for them to succeed. He stresses on understandinglearning chemistry not memorizing it, memorization wont help you in the ACS-exam for sure. I am glad that I had him for my CHEM-101, and looking forward for CHEM-102 with him next semester.
Moussa is fantastic. He's extremely passionate about chemistry, and he really wants each student to pass. I thought his lectures were occasionally long and boring, but his love for chemistry was inspiring. I signed up to take him for CHEM 102 next semester.
Very helpful. Didn't like chemistry but he changed my mind. Explains things very well, but he doesn't prepare you for the ACS that well. Tests and quizzes are easy. Just pay attention and study a bit and you'll be good.
Fantastic professor; extremely passionate about chemistry. A little fast paced, so if you haven't taken chemistry before maybe not the best option, but he is hilarious and always stresses that you asks questions and come to him for help.
Great professor, the best CHEM teacher that I had at VCU by far, he is very passionate about chemistry, and it is reflected on his teaching, he effectively use both power points and the board to explain the topics that we cover, I felt very prepared going into the ACS-exam. Attend the class, participate in the clicker sessions, and you will be fine
Had Polo for 101, she was hard but I learned a lot. Had Moussa for 102, he was easy but I didn't learn as much. I didn't pay attention in class as much as I should've but tests were super easy, very similar to recitation and quiz questions(if they weren't the same). Good teacher, but make sure you pay attention. Either way it's easy.
Moussa is by far one of the best Chem professors that VCU has to offer. I took him for Chem 101 and Chem 102. He is not easy, he explain things very well, which make him that good of a teacher. He is extremely helpful and cares a lot about the success of his students.
I took his chem101 this spring, 2015. He was very clear on what should we expect for quizzes and exams. ACS as well. He drops lowest exam, quiz, and HW. Follow his lecture notes. Go to his office hours. Solve his practice exams. Do these and you will get an A. Highly recommended. I am also taking chem 102 with him!
Great professor, I learned a lot in his class, and I will be taking him again for Chem-102 this fall. in his teaching style, he uses both the power point and the white board which make it very easy to follow and understand. His exams are straight form what we cover in class. I felt prepared going into the ACS exam, and I did do well in it.
Honestly, I didn't try or care nearly as hard as I should have and thought that I was struggling, but somehow managed to pull a solid A out of my butt. He drops a lot of grades and gives extra credit, so easy A. He prepares you for the content of the ACS exam, but not exactly the skills and tactics to tackle on how they do questions.
Dr. Moussa's class is very pleasant to be in. He is incredibly passionate about his subject and puts a lot of effort into making it interesting to everyone else by giving examples related to real life. He also includes some humor every now and then which adds to a great class environment. Definitely my favorite science teacher ever, very helpful!
Really a great professor. This was my second time taking it because of a bad grade my first time around and I came into this class and did phenomenal because of his teaching habits. He makes sure you know what he's talking about and offers any help you might need. Highly, highly recommend him. Wish he was an Organic Chem professor as well :(
He's very direct with what he expects from you on tests and quizzes and very clearly cares about the class and what we learn and hopes that we truly do not hate chemistry. He goes over multiple review questions before tests and quizzes which helps A LOT. The thing is that he has an accent but its actually kind of adorable and not hard to understand
Dr. Moussa is helpful and nice, but his lectures are not very helpful. He periodically checks attendance through TopHat so a subscription is necessary for his class. He only goes through example problems in lecture, but doesn't really explain the why or how. I am taking Chem 102 next semester, but I am not requesting him again.
Amazing professor who is there when you need him. You can tell that he cares about his students and wants to make sure that they understand the material. Simply put, he is probably one of the best chemistry professors at VCU.
Professor Moussa is seriously one of the most caring, passionate professors at VCU. He genuinely cares about his students doing well and is always willing to help no matter how stupid the question is. He offers a ton of resources on bb like study guides to help you for exams, and does monthly ACS reviews that help a lot. Definitely recommend!
Seriously love him, he doesn't blind side you on the tests/quizzes always well prepares the class for the material that will be on it and what to expect. He is very nice when you ask him a question and has a great sense of humor. I would take him over and over again if I could!
study the practice and you will be just fine. He always cares about students and will be there for you. Didn't work as hard as I worked in 101 and got an A. simply perfect professor.
AMAZING PROF.
Professor Moussa is a great, nice teacher and even tries to crack a few jokes once in a while. His lectures are straight from powerpoints. He gives extra examples and explanations. He has a thick accent, so it is hard to hear him sometimes. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. He ALWAYS reviews before quizzes and tests. DON'T SKIP!
Has a slight accent, so can be difficult to understand. Nice guy, cracks a couple jokes. He does care and wants us to pass his class. You do have to buy TopHat, which is an online application that he uses to take attendence occasionally, and shows what's on the screen; occasionally gives homework/extra credit through it. Use a notebook.
I had struggled with chemistry in high school but once I got to Prof. Moussa's class it was like everything made sense! He is a very great professor. His tests/quizzes are not tough at all as long as you show up to class and take good notes. He takes attendance every blue moon, so it's important to be here. Very helpful and he cares about students.
Professor Moussa is very quirkily funny, he has a fairly thick accent so initially he was difficult to understand. Really does his best to make the material easy to comprehend and always makes lame jokes. Really really liked him as a professor but skipping class is most certainly not an option later on in the year. Participation from clickers.
Way too easy! I wouldn't recommend him if you want to fully understand the material.
You need to put in effort to get a good grade but that's chemistry for you. He's a pretty clear professor.
Professor Moussa is wonderful! I've had him for two semester and both times I did very well. He has a bit of an accent but he is one of the most clear well spoken teachers I've had. The course is designed for you to do well and Professor Moussa does a very good job for preparing his students for the ACS final exam. I highly recommend taking him!
I had doubts about chem as I wasn't so great in high school, but I found this to be my favorite class. He's a great professor; passionate, energetic, and knows what he's doing. Material was explained very well. If there was confusion, he gladly helped out. He had some extra credit opportunities and liked to throw in a few jokes while lecturing.
He really wants you to do good in this class, and makes it easy for you to do so with extra credit homework and the lowest exam grade being replaced by your ACS exam grade. He uses Tophat for participation, but only used it around four times the semester. You don't really need the textbook but the activation code is needed to do the homework.
Hes one of the best chem teachers at vcu. Moussa gives extra credit and gives a lot of examples for you to study for the test so if you pit in the effort you'll do well.
His lectures are to the point. He writes notes/shows you how to do stuff more than reading off the powerpoint so that's always a plus. After every lecture he says "I'll be more than happy to answer any questions" and is always more than helpful when you ask questions. If you want an A, you'll get an A. You can skip a few classes, but I don't rec.
Professor Moussa wants everyone in his class to succeed in chemistry, even if they don't like the subject. He's very passionate about his class, and he is awesome at explaining things in multiple ways to make sure everyone understands. His lectures are very upbeat and he'll crack cheesy jokes sometimes to make class more enjoyable.
Great professor in terms of teaching the material he teaches you. What I mean is that he can teach you the material, but he does not teach all the material you need to know for your ACS exam (your final). Reading his powerpoints is sufficient and a few practice problems and review from lectures. Great professor for 90% of the semester.
He's very professional and down to Earth. He definitely knows the material and he's often times hilarious during class. His lectures are not as boring -- as he does not read off the PowerPoint! We use TopHat during class, and Mastering Chem for Homework. He gives extra credit on both (and tests). Tests are straightforward from lectures and TopHat.
He is such a great teacher. His quizzes and exams are not so hard. All his quizzes and exam are preparing you for the final exam. He gives the information in an easy way. I will take CHEM 102 with him. He also encourages his students to feel free to ask any question they are confused about. I encourage everyone to take chemistry with him.
Chemistry isn't my best subject, but professor Moussa is the type of professor who will make you enjoy chemistry if you put the time and effort outside of class. He can explain concepts to the point to where you can understand and do. Just put in the effort and your grade will be high.
For his exams, make sure to go over his powerpoints, TopHat, recitation worksheets, and quizzes. If you do that, you'll be fine. His exams aren't super easy so definetely study. For the ACS final, buy the ACS prep book. It's very helpful. I got a 100 on it.
Professor Moussa is a great teacher, I struggled with Chemistry until I took professor Moussa. He's very passionate about his class, and he is talented in explaining things in multiple ways to make sure everyone understand. His exams are not easy, he use Tophat as class clicker, attend and pay attention to the review questions you will be fine.
he's one of the best, take him and you'll be fine
Even though the course material isn't particularly challenging, he explains everything very thoroughly and is open to questions for further clarification
Dr. Moussa is absolutely amazing, I LOVE HIM!! He makes sure his students understand the material before moving on to the next topic. He does a review in class before tests and quizzes, and give practice problems that are similar to those on the exams. Easy A if you pay attention in lecture.
He is the best!!
Best chemistry teacher I have ever had. Explains concepts very clearly and tells exactly what you need to study for the exams. All his exams are questions you have seen before or similar to them. He is the real MVP.
Dr. Moussa really cares and tries to make sure every one understands chemistry. 80% of your final grade is tests. However, if you do well on your final he replaces your lowest test grade with your final grade. He also drops 2 quizzes, which are worth 5%. He does have a bit of an accent so it is kind of difficult to hear him sometimes. He i
Don't know how anyone could say anything bad about Moussa. He goes over every topic clearly and doesn't rush, plus he doesn't just lecture from powerpoint and really tries to make sure everyone understands a topic before moving on. If you do the participation questions the test are a breeze. ACS does suck though, but he fully prepares you.
Chemistry was my most feared subject. I'm still not in love with it, but he made it doable. Go to class, do the recitations, and you will get an A.
Dr. Moussa is an amazing professor. I am not a chemistry person at all, but I was interested throughout the whole semester. He uses personal lecture notes, which he posts on BB for your review, as well as the Top Hat application. He also uses Top Hat for participation/attendance.
I highly recommend that every lecture you write down on whats on every slide. He does give out his slides. It is better to have your own set of notes when studying and then refer to the professors slides for any missed information. If you have any confusion on any subject he is always available in his office hours or by email. Is very understanding
Moussa is a good professor! His accent can get in the way of fully understanding the material sometimes, but he slows it down for you if you ask to make it easier for you. Overall the class is manageable.
Professor Moussa's class is great. I currently have him for CHEM 102 and wish I had him for CHEM 101. This class is an easy A. If you show up to class and do a little bit of studying for exams, you will pass! He also drops two quizzes, some homework, and gives extra credit if you go to recitation. He also does a big curve on the ACS Final.
gives you everything you need to succeed.
Moussa is a solid Chemistry professor. His notes can be confusing and a bit hard to follow at times, but his tests are super easy if you go to recitation and study those activities and quizzes. He also prepares well for the ACS exam in my opinion, since all of his tests are multiple choice.
I didn't do much in his class but go to lecture and managed to get an A on the ACS. He is a good professor and the way he grades is amazing! Also if you have a problem with something he is always there to help, literally walk into his office hours and he will make you a feel so much better leaving. If ya suck at chem, take him. Really great guy
The best lecturer ever. Most student won't struggle in his class. However, if you're weak in chemistry, I would suggest you go to his office hour and get help. Even if attendance is optional please attend. He is the best professor ever!
Honestly don't know how I would have passed his class this summer without a strong 101 foundation. His accent does get in the way and his hand writing isn't the best either. 3 exams, final is ACS. He replaces the lowest exam grade with your ACS score. Uses TopHat for homework and for attendance. Put in the effort and review.
TAKE HIM! He's the best. A very highly educated and respectable professor with amazing lectures. Often going over key concepts so that no one gets left behind. Helping students earn As/Bs by going over quizzes, conducting frequent reviews, and being accessible during office hours. This class is test heavy though-85% of the grade are tests, but easy
He is one of the best chemistry professors I ever had. funny and a little straight forward. Concepts rather than memorization is key to succeed in physical chemistry.
I like Moussa as a professor and I like how he makes his tests easier compared to the other Chem professors. However, I dont think he fully prepares you for the ACS. Moussa is best for those who only need a semester or 2 of Chem. Try to go to class because even though attendance isnt worth a lot.
Best Chemistry professor at VCU. He gives you the material you need for test. If you practice homework problems and quizzes you can pass and get good grades on tests. Physical Chemistry is hard subject but he makes it interesting and engaging. Sometimes is hard to understand him but it makes chemistry easier to understand.
Dr. Moussa is a great professor and he really wants you to understand the material. His tests are fairly easier than the other professors, but unfortunately they don't really prepare you for the ACS. Take him if you want an easy chemistry class and a good professor! Just make sure to buy the ACS guide before the final.
Was a good professor overall, good teaching style writes everything by hand, then goes over the powerpoint. Easy A for the class BUT DOES NOT PREPARE YOU FOR THE ACS!!
Very passionate about chemistry and frequently asks the class if they understand the material before moving on.
I took Chem 102 with Professor Moussa this summer. He has amazing lectures and you can tell he definitely knows what he's talking about. Very helpful when you ask him questions and is available outside of class. His exams and quizzes are pretty easy, so I would definitely buy the ACS guidebook before taking it. Would definitely take him again.
Easy professor; easy grader; easy A. If all you care about is your GPA, this is your right class. But if you care a little bit more about ACS or just want to be challenged, he might not be the best option. He usually goes over the materials many times. Attendance, homework, class participation all count toward final grade. Too easy to fail.
A great professor and a pretty easy class. I'm terrible at chemistry but he makes it understandable. He really cares about his students and making sure you understand. I had him for 101 and tried to take someone else for 102 and just couldn't understand it and had to drop and switch to his class to be able to get it.
Great professor! Had him for Chem 102 and now 102 bc he teaches the class so well. Take advantage of office hours since he truly cares about you understanding the class and subject. Definitely recommend studying the recitation questions and tophat questions since they are exactly what he puts on his multiple choice tests.
If you go to the lectures, you'll pass the class. If you go to recitations (they're always at 8 am), you get extra credit on the final. 8 grades for the entire semester.
A total gem! He cares so much for his students! He makes chemistry seem so simple because he explains it so well. Very passionate about chemistry. If you go to all the recitation classes, you get extra credit. Very few grades in the grade book, but it all balances out nicely at the end! One of my favorites! Take him if you can!
Prof. Moussa is undoubtedly the best gen chem professor at VCU. Tests and quizzes are 90% of your grade (20% for each of 3 exams, 25% for the final, 5% for quizzes) so you will need to study. His lectures are very clear and if you don't skip class you'll have an easy time. He gives A LOT of extra credit and drops a lot of your lowest grades too.
Moussa's class was really easy. All his quizzes and exams were just like the practice given in recitation. He gives a tremendous load of extra credit and other simple homework to buffer your grade. However, I had difficulties in lectures. He has a heavy accent and repeats the same concept 100 times until everyone understands.
Moussa is dope. Theres no way to fail his class unless you fail the ACS. He really hands on and wants you to know the material. I had him for 101&102 and shouldve never tried to take those classes with anyone, but Moussa. Although he doesnt prepare you for the ACS if you study on your own a good week or two before and go hard you'll pass it. 10/10
Honestly, his quizzes and tests were had similar questions to the ACS. However, I would still encourage you to study the ACS book so you'll be familiar with the exam.
Great professor. Is very passionate, relates the material to his research, and prepares you well for the final with his quizzes and tests. His lectures are enjoyable, and he does a very good job explaining difficult concepts.
Dr. Moussa is very caring when it comes to his students. However, he does not prepare you for the ACS exam and does not provide any questions from the textbook for practice besides the one's on TopHat. Although, he does give you extra points if you come to recitation every week. SI sessions can help you prepare for the ACS exam so I recommend that.
He is a great lecturer. Follow his notes and go to recitation and you will do great.
Didn't use the physical textbook at all, just pay attention to his lectures and online textbook and you're set. A caring professor who wanted his students to pass the class and handed out quite a bit of extra credit near the end of the semester. Only slightly negative thing is that Moussa doesn't prepare too well for ACS exam, so buy the guidebook
my dude. You cant really hate him. He prepares you well for every test and quiz
Professor Moussa is so cool and and teaches well! It is not difficult to get an A or B in the class as long as you study the recitation practice and the problems from class, because the tests are extremely similar and usually repeat a lot of the questions. The class does not require a lot of time because he doesn't assign much homework at all!
He 's wonderful. I was awful at Chemistry in high school, but his tests and quizzes were easy to study for. Missed lots of lectures and finished with an A, so if you can't make it to class a few times, don't stress it. Take him if you can! He drops a quiz or two and gives extra credit too! Replaces lowest exam with final exam if final is higher.
Definitely the best chem prof I could have ever asked for. I struggled with chem in high school. With hard work I was able to earn in B in Moussas class. Study quizzes and recitation questions for the tests because they're very similar. Definitely review for the ACS (nation wide final) ahead of time, that test was hard.
Moussa is the sweetest man ever. I love him and I love his lectures! They get pretty repetitive because he wants to make sure everyone understands. He makes a difficult class clear and to the point, which helps when you're taking other classes that require more work. Recitation, TopHat, quizzes, and tests are all similar.
Best Chem 101 prof at VCU. His lectures are very clear and he goes over things multiple times making sure everyone understands. Uses online TopHat textbook with questions for homework. 3 exams and the ACS final, the exams are all multiple choice and just like the quizzes. Gives lots of opportunity for extra credit and raising your grade.
LOVE Dr. Moussa. His lectures are helpful but not mandatory and so is his recitation. His homework is all on TopHat. I'd suggest going to his office hours for additional help. He will basically do anything to make sure you're passing his class. If you want an A and to better understand chemistry, take him!! One of the best instructors ever!!!!
I took him for both CHEM 101 and CHEM 102. He is hilarious and respectful to all his students. His quizzes and exams are fairly easy if you go to recitation and pay attention to his lectures. However, he doesn't prepare well for the ACS, so you should prepare for it yourself. The chem department has a great grading curve for the ACS though.
Tests are similar to the review worksheets and quizzes given during recitation which is why it's almost impossible to fail an exam. However, he does not prepare you well for the ACS. STUDY THE ACS GUIDEBOOK. He will give you practice exams for the ACS but honestly don't look at them bc only 5% of that will be on the ACS. Overall, he's a great Prof
If you dont pass, then its your own fault! He does everything in his power to help you pass your exam and quizzes. Little homework and attendance is rarely taken.
He is the best chem prof I've ever had, he really cares for students to understand the material. The test are identical to the recitation ws and quizzes so if you study those thoroughly, you will do well. I really wished he was teaching 102 but hes focusing on straight 101. I did not use the textbook at all but included within the hw access code.
Don't be thrown off by his heavy accent, Professor Moussa made chem so easy! The only reason I got a B was because I started skipping class. His lectures are so straightforward and he tells you exactly whats on the exams and quizzes. If you go to recitation, his activities are literally the same as the quizzes and exams. He is really reassuring too
Moussa is a nice guy. He cares about his students however, he does teach at a slower pace and I was not prepared for the ACS exam at the end of the semester but I did well on his quizzes and tests with little to no practice.
Sherrif Moussa is the best CHEM 101 teacher at VCU. If you can, take his class.
Great teacher. Probably best Chem teacher at VCU. Definitely take if you have the chance. Lectures are very helpful and prepare you for exams and quizzes very well.
Moussa is one the best professor here at VCU. He is very caring for all his students and makes sure they all pass. As long as you study the worksheet and Power points you will easily Ace all the exams. I would highly recommend professor Moussa to anyone who is taking CHEM 101/102.
Please make sure to sit near the front, sitting near the back made it difficult to understand him. He is definitely passionate about chemistry, but his handwriting/note-taking and speaking is barely understandable sometimes. I needed to consult him after class multiple times because I didn't understand him in class.
He's a very great professor. He loves his job and cares about all students. He gives extra credit for attending all recitations. He drops a quiz. His quizzes/recitation worksheet/top hat questions are basically what you should expect to see on his exams. 3 Exams are 25 Q's, 4 Quizzes are 20 Q's, and 1 ACS final 70 Q's which replaces a low exam.
Ignore all of the comments that say he doesn't prepare you well for the ACS Exam. Those people probably never attended lecture or recitation. Moussa is the BEST professor. He prepares you extremely well for every quiz and test, including the ACS. His grading is amazing too; this man will get you an A in his class.
Loved his class. Recitation packets are exactly the same as the quizzes and you can use the quizzes to study for the tests. He dropped two of our lowest quizzes. For the ACS work through the book, do the practice problems he gives you, and watch review videos on youtube. I ended up with a 89 on the ACS and A in the class.
He makes sure that everyone understands the material before moving on. His practice worksheets are just like the quizzes and the quizzes are just like the tests! Also he provides so much extra credit, it is kind of crazy. Basically, just show up, take good notes, get help when you need it, and you will receive an A!
He is a good professor. His quizzes are easy and most of his exam questions come from the recitation packets and from the quizzes. Easy class, however, he does not prepare you well for the ACS. In order to pass the ACS exam with a good grade you have to buy the book and teach yourself new things that showed up in the ACS exam.
Professor Moussa was one of my favorite professors. His lectures are not so much powerpoint-based; they are more if him putting up paper in a projector and making diagrams of everything we need to know for the exams. He repeats a lot of concepts, so it would be hard to forget. Tests are easy, but he does not prepare for the ACS! Not a lot of HW.
Not only is Professor Moussa a great professor, he also cares about his students a lot. Especially during the COVID-19 crisis, Prof. Moussa, made it easy to adjust to remote learning and understood and ensured that our grades were not affected by the shift in learning environment. Best professor ever.
I loved taking his class, I had some background knowledge in Chemistry before taking his class, but he really explained all the material really well. He lets you know what is going to be on the quizzes/tests if you listen. Really fun and passionate professor.
Dr. Moussa is hands down the best chem professor at VCU. Make sure you take him for any chem class you need. Hes very helpful and truly cares. If you just put in the effort you are guaranteed to pass and chemistry is a hard subject, but he makes it very easy.
Moussa is very attentive to his students and will stop his lecture to explain things to you if you don't understand. Pretty easy Tophat/Mastering Chem HW, Five exams, and a comprehensive final. Exams are open note, so make sure you go to his lectures and take good notes.
Such an amazing teacher. Happy belated bday, Professor Moussa! This man goes above and beyond to ensure all of his students have an equal chance and opportunity to pass the class. He is so caring especially during this pandemic and doesn't hesitate to repeat himself in and out of class. Attendance optional; test q are similar to recitation
The nicest professor. All of the tests are based on his lectures. He is very thorough with the material and takes the time to answer all student's questions. He is very knowledgeable and learning from him has been great.
He is the best professor! He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. There are 7 open book exams, top hat assignments, and mastering chemistry. I would definitely take him again! He gives extra credit and will make sure you pass!
AMAZING! best professor hands down, truly cares about his students & wants them to understand. Attendance is only required 50% for the semester. I hated chemistry until I took this class but truly understand it now. If you get a chance to take him DO IT!
I hate chemistry with a passion but this professor made it bearable. He is a great professor though and i would take him again.
He's an amazing professor, there's an exam every 2 weeks but they're open note. He cares more about the students understanding the material than stressing over the exams. There's also assignments on tophat and mastering chemistry to help have a better understanding of the content.
I wholeheartedly mean it when I say Moussa is the best professor at VCU. Very caring and super clear with his lectures and grading criteria. There's no way anyone can fail his class as he makes sure everyone understands the material. He really goes above and beyond for his students, which you don't see often at vcu.
Very easy teacher as well as flexible. Favorite course from this semester.
best proffesor ever goes over everything and makes sure everyone understands. made one of the best online classes.
Dr. Moussa is easily my favorite professor from VCU! He is sweet & understanding (especially during the pandemic). You can tell that he is passionate about what he is teaching & that he strives for his students to pass! He is also willing to help you if you need it. I would 100% recommend his class; a few assignemnts with room for mistakes.
Great Professor, gives plenty of time to do work and has a great teaching style.
Cares alot about helping students if they are struggling in the class . If chem is hard for you def take him and go to his office hours or see him outside of class , he offers his help all the time. Recitation sessions are like studyish sessions to HELP YOU . GO TO RECITATION , DO NOT SKIP it
I love Dr. Moussa!!!! He is very clear in his lectures. His homework and quizzes are very similar to the exam questions. He is very understanding. Even though PChem is notoriously a hard subject, he makes everything very clear. Exams and quizzes are open book too.
Dr. Moussa cares so much about his students and he works with you if needed. His material is understandable and he isn't a tough grader at all. He gives chances for extra credit and he curves exams and quizzes. It's a ton of information to gather and I hate Chemistry but he's a great professor.
Amazing professor, had him for chem 101. He's super understanding.
AWESOME professor!! He does a great job explaining topics during his lectures to make sure everyone understands. He shows a lot of compassion towards his students and you can tell he wants everyone to pass. Would definitely take again!
Hes a good person. He shows that he wants everyone to pass. He explains how simply coming to class and doing the little bit of homework he assigns can easily bring your grade up! I wish he would go more into detail about some topics , but as long as you participate and give it all you got, youll be fine !
Best & easiest chem 101 professor. He wants all his students to understand the material & pass the class! Tests are straight from his classwork and recitation sheets with the exception of 5ish questions. He has 4 tests, drops one, 4 quizzes, drops one, minimal HW graded mostly on completion. The final is 70 q's, but if you get 60 right, it's a 100%
One of the most understanding professors at VCU. He's so caring and all he wants is his student to understand the content. His tophat homework is not hard. His test is not difficult if you review his recitations, tophat HW & in-class questions that are exactly like the test questions. I highly recommend taking his class!
Lectures are pretty easy to follow and understand. Pay attention in class, attend recitations, review quizzes and you will do well.
Amazing professor! He repeats information during his lectures multiple times and explains them in different ways so everyone has a chance to understand. He does take attendance and it counts for a grade. You have to buy the textbook on Top Hat, and the homework can take quite some time, but it is really helpful in understanding the material.
Professor Moussa is the best CHEM professor you can have for CHEM 101 and 102. Not just because he is easy, but the way he teaches involves everyone in the class. He makes sure everyone understands the concept. I did have to spend $100 for taking my quizzes, which was the only bad part. Apart from that take CHEM with MOUSSA . He is amazing.
Professor Moussa is probably the best chem professor you'll have at VCU. He is kind and cares about his students. He is always available if you have any questions or concerns. Go to recitation sessions and review TopHat questions and you're guaranteed an A. Overall his class is really easy and he is a great professor!
BEST TEACHER ive ever had in my life. Exam questions are picked straight off the homeworks and lecture examples, get 100% on every exam. He drops the worst exam and worst 2 quizzes. Love this guy so much he makes everything straight to the point and life is so easy. Easy A.
If you get the chance to, take Prof. Moussa. He's clear in what he teaches and repeats information so you actually get it in your brain. He really cares about his students. Tests and quizzes are easy.
I love Professor Moussa. He is super passionate about chemistry with a great sense of humor. He shows up for his students and does genuinely care for about you and your success in the course. I highly recommend.
An A is guaranteed. You just have to do the work. Awesome professor.
Go to every recitation, his exams use almost all the questions from those. One exam is dropped and as well as 5 attendance points. His final exam was online and open note. Moussa is one of the sweetest professors ever. His class is almost impossible to fail.
One of the best professors here. He drops and curves grades. Just make sure to attend every class and recitation, this will be useful at the end of the semester. Exams are open notes and goes along with the recitation and tophat questions. He's really nice, most professors won't drop as many grades as him. PLS DO THE COURSE EVAULATION, EXTRA CREDIT
Professor Moussa is one of my favorite professors. He genuinely cares about students learning the content rather than making them memorize the material. The questions on our exams would be taken straight from recitation activities and in class practice questions. He curves and drops grades which can almost guarantee students an A in his class.
He is a really great professor who cares about his students a lot. The way his lectures and recitations are set up teach exactly to the exams. If you show up and put in work for this class, you will get an A. He is also very communicative and responds quick to emails as well as his TA's. I recommend his 101 class hands down.
Best chemistry professor and class I have ever taken! I always knew what to expect on tests and the final exam as he gave duplicate problems during class, recitation, and he gave great practice tests. Grading was mostly based on exams, but anyone who studies the material can easily get an A on them. He dropped many assignments too. Great professor.
Easy grader
Best professor ever! Just take him and youll pass! Attendance matters!
He's a really good professor and always makes sure that no one leaves with unanswered questions. The workload is not too heavy but attendance matters.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Loved his teaching style, answered questions clearly, and easy to prepare for the exams as the recitation questions are basically practice exams.
Professor Moussa is a very sweet man and clearly cares about what he is teaching and his students. Very easy A, but doesn't prepare you for future chemistry classes or ACS exam.
Professor Moussa was a great professor and made succeeding in his class possible for everyone. I did really well in chem 101 but he does not prepare you for chem 102 classes or further. I would take him only if you do not have to continue with chem after 101 because he just does not prepare you for future chem classes.
he told us at the beginning of the semester, no one has ever failed his class and he meant it. they makes it so easy for you to do well. with all the curves, drops, and extra credit. you have to try to fail to fail. passionate teacher that cares about chemistry and his students.
Best Chem professor ever. He cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. He is so thorough with his lectures. If I could take him for all my other chem courses I would.
Goes over each chapter multiple times to make sure you learn everything. exceptional teacher!
Best professor I have ever had. Always makes sure everyone understands the topics for each chapter. You do not need to read the textbook but should. Also, his practice worksheets for extra credit are basically the test answers. Lots of chances for extra credit as wall.
Very passionate and caring professor. You would have to TRY to fail.
Moussa straight hands out essentially free A's. Class was honestly boring for the whole semester with how little work and extra credit you get. Drops lowest exam at end of year, then adds a whole grade level to your lowest after that. Never seena CHEM101 course this easy before. Easier than AP Chem by a mile. Great guy, quick grader too.
BEST PROF EVERRRR
Prof. Moussa is such an amazing professor. He prepares you so so well for his tests and you can tell that he genuinely cares about what he is teaching and his students. As long as you go to recitation and lectures, you should be set to get an A. You have to put in effort to NOT get a good grade in his class. Highly recommend!!!!!
Best professor. Always makes sure everyone understands the topics for each chapter.s An easy A but the class was boring for the whole semester. Drops the lowest test exam and quiz.
Yeah his class is easy, but nowhere near prepares you for Chem 102...if you had him for 101, good LUCK.
He always explained everything very thoroughly, gave lots of examples, and is very helpful with feedback.
Dr. Moussa is very friendly and knowledgeable ab what he is teaching. If you go to his recitation sessions and study then you can easily get 100s on his tests. Other than the tests/final exam there isn't much work, so you really need to do well on his tests to do well in the class. Only downside is he does not prepare you for chem 102. Like at all.
Very respected professor! Love the way he does his lecture. he trys to make it make sense for his students to understand!
He's an amazing professor who's so passionate. He gives every opportunity for his students to pass with an A. He gives many extra credit opportunities, and he's hilarious in lectures. Take him for chemistry!
up until the midterm i had a super low grade since i wasnt actively paying attention or keeping up w/ the lessons. if you study the recitation stuff and review the quizzes, you'll be sure to ace the exams (he also drops the lowest one out of 4) i would've ended w/ an A but i got a 75 on the final which is 20% of the entire grade (average was 72)
You can guarantee understanding and getting an A if you focused during the lecture. There are a lot of Extra Credit. You can take A+ in all exams and assignments, however, the final exam is a real thing. He is not the person who make the final. So study hard and you will be fine. He is caring and kind.
Such a wonderful professor! Just make sure to pay attention to lectures and when studying to focus on the example problems given. His class is hard to fail because of how well he sets you up for success. I will say for the ACS study separately, it was harder than previous material he gave throughout the class.
Test are multiple choice and material given to study helps! Chem is hard, so if you don't put in the work, you will not pass! Overall lectures are kinda boring but always informational.
Professor Moussa was a very interesting professor that made it easy to understand all these topics. It's very clear he has a passion about chemistry and it shows in his teaching. The course is still hard, don't get me wrong, but just make sure to pay attention to his lectures and get the free points from the homework and quizzes and you'll do fine.
Don't mind me, just adding another 5-star to his already 230 5-stars. he's simply the best option for both CHEM 101 and 102. his class will fill up quickly, so make sure to register asap.
Professor Moussa was a good professor for Chem 101 many of the exam questions came from class and tophat. Moussa's lectures were overall easily understandable and he also encouraged questions. His class was easy as long as you understand him and do the work.
Dr. Moussa really wants his students to succeed. I highly suggest going to lectures, and doing all the extra credit he provides. It is an easy A if you do that.
take professor moussa anytime you get the chance to for chem.
great guy, great lectures, easy grader, curves quizzes and often times exams as well
Dr. Moussa was an amazing and hilarious professor! His class was the standard Chemistry lecture, but you could tell he cares deeply about his students and is passionate about Chemistry. He curves the final and drops a lot of quizzes and homework. He makes recitation extra credit which really helps your grades. Taking him again for Chem 102!
I struggled a lot with this class because chemistry is just not my thing, but that wasn't Dr. Moussas fault. Make sure you attend recitation and pay attention in class. The recitations help a lot not only with the material, but also grades because he takes attendance. He was very open about what would be on exams and cares about his students.
Dr. Moussa is an amazing professor who is passionate about the work that he does. The midterms are near one-to-one copies of the recitation sessions, so it's really easy to study. The only caveat is that you have to buy two textbooks to do the homework/ take-home quizzes.
He is amazing! If you attend those lectures and pay attention, you will do well in his class. He's so funny and makes learning chemistry fun. He replaces the lowest exam grade with the final if better, he uses tophat to take attendance, and quizzes are online. TAKE HIM!
This class was definitely more difficult than chem 101, if you had Moussa for chem 101, it is not the same, however he still provides recitations that I highly encourage to go to, it helps so much for his exams. Dr. Moussa also is very helpful if any questions are concerning you.
It is a chemistry course, so you must study for the monthly exams. Moussa loves what he teaches and wants students to succeed! He gives opportunities for students to raise grades even when they struggle to fully understand the material. Participate in recitation and lecture, do the tophat homework, and keep up with reviewing the lecture notes.
Professor Moussa is a very good professor. If you go to his office hours, he is nice and always say hello. I really enjoyed his class and made a lot of friends and classmates there. Moussa goes really fast with his lecture notes however he allowed us to take photos of the lecture notes since he wants you to learn.
The exams are exact copies of the recitation activities, it is so easy to study for them. The content is hard, it's chemistry, but he truly tries to make it as easy as possible for you. He is very caring and respectful. If you take CHEM101, you absolutely have to take it with him.
Overall he doesn't assign a lot of homework, however a lot of the homework ends up being due the last few days before the ACS which was a little stressful while trying to study by the ACS book. His office hours are incredibly useful if you're struggling to grasp certain concepts. He applies the course material to daily life which helps as well.
Moussa is great! Lectures are good but can be dense. He does an amazing job to explain material without overwhelming you. ACS is no joke, it's not like 101 ACS, you need to study for it.
Not just an easy A, you do have to work for it. He's passionate & gives multiple opportunities to improve your grade. Recitations are similar to exams. Very clear in his explanations. However, ACS final is much harder as he simplifies concepts, so you do have to put in the work esp if you're stem/premed and need to know the content at its core.
His class fills up super fast for a reason. You can tell how badly he wants everyone to pass. I will note that one thing you need to look out for is the ACS. His exams are much easier than the ACS and you need to start studying early. Usse the guidebook! Chemistry is hard but I was able to get an A by following his guidelines and regular studying.
He is an overall good professor but if you fail the final even if you had an A for the whole semester you will fail the class.
Moussa was a good professor, and was amazing at explaining content for it to be understandable. His tests are very similar, if not the same from the recitation, so if you understand all recitation, you'll do ok on the tests. The only con here is that he oversimplifies the topics on the tests and in lectures, the ACS exam is much more complicated.
In his explainations of topics he tends to go all over the place, which makes it hard to understand. Plus his handwriting is worse than doctors. He basically only teaches by projecting him doing things on the board, which sounds fine at first, but awful to look back on to realize you don't know what the question was since he didnt write it down.
Had him for 101 too. Super nice professor and accommodating. The exams make up your grade essentially. The class in general is easy. Exams are like his recitations. The ACS is very hard tho, he curves quite a bit, but still you need to prepare.
Chem 101 was great however, my experience in Chem 102 was quite different. The tests had the same concepts as recitation but would switch little things around which resulted in confusion. If you struggle with chemistry, I strongly advise against taking this class during the summer. There's no drop in tutoring and professor's office hours are brief
Professor Moussa is engaging and his lectures are clear, but the material can be challenging. Attend recitations and use unstuckstudy AI for study prep - they really help on the exams. The ACS final is no joke, so be ready to put in the work.
He is genuinely a sweet guy. His exams are just like his recitations. You do need to go to class or you will be confused. He wants everyone to pass with an A and that really shows. Tophats and mastering chemistry quizzes are really the only outside HW's. All around good guy and professor.
He's the best for chem if you want an A. He's good at breaking down concepts so you understand but you need to go above and beyond to do well on the ACS Final and get an A. Go to office hours, SI is really good, and study for the ACS. Exams are easy, just do the recitation and know the process
He's good. He explained concepts well and his lectures were easy to follow. Go to the recitations. His tests are heavily based off the worksheets he gives. He could've prepared us more for the ACS exam though. The last few chapters were pretty rushed. Go to the SI sessions and office hours and you'll do fine.
3 tests,1 drop 45%; final 25%; hw/tophat/quiz 30%. Tests are from hw/quiz but he doesn't teach you how to do it in class. Can't memorize? You're cooked. The final is a nightmare because it's ACS + 20 of his q's, but he didn't teach us the ACS material and he grades using his OWN curve not the national one. Yells at you for not understanding qs.
Prof Moussa was honestly my favorite class this semester. Class was relatively easy, just make sure you study the recitation questions, as they will help you a lot on the exams. The ACS sucked and was pretty difficult. However, he does curve it 20 percent, so that is extremely helpful. I loved this class so much I am taking him again for chem 102
Dr. Moussa is a highly passionate professor who genuinely cares about his students' success. While the course is challenging, attending his office hours makes a significant difference—he goes above and beyond to ensure you understand the material and excel in the class!
He cares a lot about student well-being and health; always asking for students to ask questions or to visit his office hours. Attend his recitation sessions because his questions are very similar to the exam (he also gives extra credit). Overall, very nice professor, just attend class and pay attention and you'll be good to go.
Moussa is such a sweet man. He's a good and passionate lecturer and cares SO MUCH about his students. He also often extends assignments and heavily curves the final to help boost grades. Recitation is helpful since they're almost identical questions to the tests and if you go to enough you get a grade bump on one of your midterms. 10/10 reccomend.
He is a very sweet man, but unfortunately I did not jive with his teaching style. He can fall suuuper behind which forces you to read ahead if you don't want to be cooked for the ACS final. He makes his own youtube videos/gives extra credit, so even though I goofed a cpl times my grade is still great :) not bad option, just not for me.
Good professor! has lots of homework and attendance points to help ur overall grade. Has a lot of extra credit opportunities and extension opportunities. He tells you exactly what to study for the exams and his exams are not too hard if you pay attention and show up to recitation sessions. 5/5 Moussa has taught me that maybe I might be good at chem
I'm not a very good learner in such a large class setting since there are so many distractions and you don't get the one-on-one treatment, but Dr Moussa was a very personable teacher and made the classroom feel smaller than it was. His 3 exams are easy if you study his recitation, since often the questions asked are veryyy similar (some identical).
Moussa is a decent professor, but his method of teaching doesn't adequately prepare you for the final exam. I feel as though his lecture provide a solid foundation for chemistry, but they do not prepare you for the ACS and the strategies needed to tackle those questions. He's extremely passionate about what he does and cares about his students.
Moussa is super lenient with his test policies, and his tests are easy (just copies of the recitation practices). He is a good professor, but the class has pacing issues (he takes too long to go through the chapters), so a lot of students don't feel prepared for the ACS. Take him but make sure u follow along with ACS and do all homeworks/quizzes!
I honestly do not recommend taking his class, yes it isnt too bad but his final is the ACS and his teaching style doesnt follow it at all so it was very difficult
He is very kind and supportive, which made the class feel more approachable. His recitations were especially helpful for preparing for exams, if you take the time to understand the recitation problems, you'll be well prepared and likely do well on the tests! Overall, he explains things clearly and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Moussa works well with students to give practice problems during lectures and often offers to help students when needed. However, you won't do well without paying attention and taking notes. There are very few units that aren't essential knowledge. Everything needs to be learned for the ACS exam. Expect to do lots of additional study for the ACS.
He's a very kind and passionate professor. His tests are easy and straightforward with the questions being straight from the recitation worksheets. He takes attendance and drops the lowest test score which bumps your grade a lot. The pacing of the class is disorganized and you do have to teach yourself a lot of the material outside of class.
Honestly, chem 2 had exams that were fully multiple choice. I took this class freshman year, being a senior now, and I think it was great. I flunked the third exam but i got an A on the first, B on the second, and for the final, the ACS had a curve and Moussa added his own curve bc of the VCU end of semester survey lol, nonetheless, I got an A.
Whether you like chemistry or hate it, you have to respect his passion for it. He truly loves chemistry, and it shows in his lectures. Passionate teacher, cares about his students, drops a few low grades, and curves the final ACS exam by a lot. If you pay attention in lecture and go to recitation, there's no reason you shouldn't get a decent grade.
He's such a fantastic professor! He actually teaches you the concepts for class, just make sure to go to recitation because the tests literally look like the practice problems on there. He's super sweet and easy to talk to! However, for the final he doesn't prepare you enough so make sure to give yourself enough time to look through the workbook.
hes very nice but you need good attendance to pass, his tests are copies of class work so you need to be in class to understand and the exam youre graded by 4 tests and 6 quizzes only and then all your participations which can help your grade
Amazing professor that is clearly passionate about his work. 4 tests with lowest dropped and attendance is mandatory. The tests are a straight copy of recitation worksheets but you still need to understand the concepts. The final is ACS which is harder but is curved a lot. Homework is straightforward and quizzes are only 4% of your grade.
He is the best professor you could take for chemistry! He really cares for his students and really hard not to pass with the amount of resources he provides.
