This is her first year teaching, and I really like her style. I took several years of accounting in high school, so most of her class is review, but she goes over it really well and I'm able to understand things better than I was before. Definitely take her for a professor. She knows what she's talking about.
She speaks like shes reading out of a text book. I attended every class and learned nothing, I had to teach myself everything. But she is nice and will give you extra credit if you go to her and ask for it.
I have never been so frustrated with a professor. She doesn't answer emails, she doesnt' explain anything, she shouldn't be allowed to teach.
Pretty good professor. She is extremely nice and people friendly. She teaches straight from the book so if you actually take the time to read the book you should get an A. Easy tests and grader.
She doesn't really care if the class understands whats going on, she still flys throught the info and she doesn't give you a chance to ask any questions. Be prepared to answer questions infront of the class everyday. Teaches throught power point, which makes it extremely boring. Tests are hard, to pass you have to go to class and study A LOT!
She is like every Accounting professor... hard! But she is one of the better professors. Really hard tests, very very nice and pretty helpful!
Good professor and very friendly. Does have a tendency to fly through things causing you to leave feeling a little flustered. Teaches straight from the book and tests heavily on application but as long as you actually do the homework, take time to study, and read the questions thoroughly you should be fine.
be prepared for her fast lectures on powerpoints. she doesn't care if you understand or not as long as she covers what she needs to cover for the day. but when it comes to one on one she helps out but most likely gives you answers. Exams are very hard. The assignments are off from the book and i recommend you read the book before coming to class.
She is not the best. Although she is VERY easy, it is still a bummer of a class, and it gets so incredibly boring I want to kill myself.
Her homework assignments can get a bit on the long side but they are useful for the exams aka do the homework and the exams aren't too bad. She does have a tendancy to go through stuff fast but you just have to be proactive and ask her to slow down or blurt out questions. She does want you to understand and is nice. A good teacher imho.
Expect reaaaaly hard exams. Do every possible problem in the book before all exams - I did that for the final, plus re-reading every chapter and making note cards and got a 68%. She races through classes and never pauses to take a breath. Lectures are lethally boring. The curves on her exams actually brought my grade DOWN-how does that even happen?
I was optomistic about accounting, but now i hate it. Flys through notes, making it impossible to keep up. Tests are hard as hell. I wouldn't recommend her.
Gilberstadt makes accounting easy to understand. While she tends to go very fast during class, the book is pretty self-explanatory as well. She also gives students handouts covering the material and everything is put on D2L. I would recommend this professor for accounting.
Well I have a test in her class today. We did absolutely no review of what was going to be on the exam. I find it near impossible to sit through her class. She flies through stuff and there is zero structure to her notes or lessons. Tests seem to be on different material than what she has stressed.
One of the worse teachers ever. She doesn't care if you understand it or not. She mades tons of mistakes in class and only catches them sometimes. Her tests are super hard only the things that don't matter are on the tests. She starts new chapters 5 mins before the class is over. If you do taker her class, memorize the book and know everything.
Terrible. Does Not Care about you at all. Teaches way too fast and her tests are absolutely impossible
Professor isn't bad, some people have trouble with accounting. Not all that hard if you keep up with everything. Do the homework and study a little and everything will be fine.
She's really nice and friendly, but she has crazy expectations. The assignments take hours. She tries to help as much as possible, but it is definitely a rough class. The curve is generous too.
Pretty good Prof. Very friendly and wants students to succeed. Post solutions to the hmwrk so you can figure out the work on your own if you like. Read the book and do the homework problems...they help a lot.
The tests are horribly hard and the homework is easy, she gives you the answer keys, so you should get a 100% on every assignment. She kind of rambles on in class and is super friendly before class starts. At the end of the semester she curves all the tests. I had a D- and ended up with a B. Take her the curve but you have to work hard.
Such a hard class. Accounting is hard as it is, and she makes it no easier. The tests are impossible, and the average every time is around a D. I hear she has a nice curve at the end, but I withdrew, so I won't know. I dreaded going ever monday and wed.
Terrible professor. Very smart lady but can't teach. Her notes are everywhere. She goes way too fast and her tests and quizzes are VERY difficult. I'm in her class now and I know almost everyone is struggling. I'm passing her class because I'm reading the book. Her assignments are very long and she always misses class. I would not reccomend her.
YOU WILL DIE TAKING THIS CLASS. Don't take with her.
Not as bad as people say she is. My only complaint is that she moves too quickly so you can't process the information and end up teaching yourself. Her tests/quizzes are pretty impossible to do well on, but if you put a decent amount of effort in, you should be able to pass. Friendly/helpful overall.
She's a terrible teacher that goes through the notes way to fast. The quizzes and tests are very difficult. I suggest taking this class with a different professor.
She is very approachable and friendly all the time. She just moves too fast with her notes and the exams are pretty tricky. There is a nice grading curve in the class and exta credit opportunities.
She is terrible at responding to emails, phone calls, etc. Her tests are very tricky but her homework is very easy. This can be confusing! I really am thinking about taking 202 online because I can not stand her. She paces in class and sounds very fake.
She teaches you everything you need to get an A in the class. The reason people get low grades in their class is because they don't understand Accounting in general. If you are a numbers person then you will do fine on the exams and in the class.
Sheril is absolutely one of the best professors i've met so far. She is a master of teaching and she is so helpful if you have any question.
This class was REALLY hard. Unnecessarily hard. She makes her own questionsassignments and when the people at the accounting lab looked at it they told me it looked harder than anything in Acct 202. Others in the class who had parents that are accountants were doing badly on their homework as well & the accts didn't even know what we were doing.
She teaches the material after she quizzes you on it.
her lectures are unorganized and confusing. you have to study a lot outside of class if you want a good grade. she does curve at the end but it didn't help me as much as i expected. she is very nice though. overall a pretty hard class but so is accouting in general.
She talks very monotone and does not clarify any questions that you might have.
Gilberstadt is can be a tough cookie. Her lectures are boring and extremely easy to zone out in. My suggestion to solve this is read the book after every class and go to her office hours because she is willing to help. I got C's and D's on all the tests. BUT HER CURVE IS GLORIOUS. At the end of the semester I had a a 73% and ended up with a B+
Clicker questions are easy and straight forward in class but exams are difficult and tricky.
Clicker questions are fairly straight forward. Exams are very difficult. She reads right from the hand out/power points word for word with the occasional example. Isn't clear if you ask to explain in other words when you don't understand (she just repeats). If you can take course with a different professor do it!
You need to be in class attendance is taken by clicker questions and the test materials come solely from her lectures. Tests are difficult, you need to study and be able to understand her wording
This class is way better to take online. However, she is a very hard grader. Homework isn't too bad. It doesn't take you more than an hour a week to complete. Her tests are down right hard. The questions are very abstract, and she's asking you to apply concepts that you've never seen before. Take it online, but be prepared to work.
TERRIBLE! The exams (6 of them) are unbelievably confusing and hard. If it wasn't for the optional assignment to replace an exam, the extra credit, and the curve I am pretty sure I would have gotten at most a D. She treats this class like law school and confuses herself half the time in lectures. Clickers daily! Take it online with someone else.
I took BSAD 305 online because I heard horrendous things about the in class lectures. The online homework was pretty straight forward. The tests were difficult and had some terms that weren't on the study guide. However, she did offer extra credit and that helped. I would recommend taking this class online. Managed to slip away with an A.
Not an easy class. Well, if you study the right material it should be. The book isn't that important outside of the assigned readings (that you should do). For tests, study homework and handouts. Your grade will reflect how efficiently you study, not how hard you do. Figure it out as soon as you can and don't be afraid to ask her for help!
Accounting is a hard class to begin with but she gives hand outs in every class period. These hand outs are what helped me pass. She gives tons of examples.
She's a nice person and some of the tests are so difficult, and the final exam is hard and even includes lots of things that she didn't talk in class, but this maybe because of the accounting department. She likes to use lots of examples which are helpful.
This is a very hard class in general. You have to put in a lot of effort. I failed the first exam, but now my grade is up because I learned how she tests. We have homework due every Mon. and quizzes every Wed. There are four exams before the comprehensive common final. Redoing the handouts before exams helps a lot! I heard there's a big curve.
Her lectures are sometimes hard to survive. Make sure to read the book, you may learn more for it than from her. Very tough grader. She makes every test and they all are incredibly challenging. Accounting is hard to comprehend in the first place, she is bad at dumbing it down. I wouldn't take her again.
She seems to be caring and willing to help but goes pretty fast in class to stick to her syllabus. There are quizzes almost every week and tests every 2 weeks. Reading the book, homework assignments and paying attention in class is necessary to know what is going on and keep up. She can be a bit unclear at times.
If you have chance, DONT take this professor. The ACCT 201 should be a very easy class for most college student. BUT if you take this professor, it is so hard. I have to say, this professor encourage you preview the content before the class and quiz which is good. I can accept that. However, the material miss some important formula.
This class is unnecessarily difficult, tests and homework are extremely hard. Class lectures were not step up to help you, she uses the chalkboard and speaks most of her lectures. I would highly recommend finding a different professor to take Accounting 201 with.
Overall, Sheril is a great person and I know she means well... But, I had a terrible time in her class. Her lectures are hard to follow and her exams are hard. Even if I did the review for the exam I still wouldn't know everything on it. Although! She does grade the class a lot! So she knows and tried to help!
Her lectures aren't useful. Read the book. Very tough grader. The tests are impossible and she needs to use a bigger curve. Accounting is hard, and she is not good at explaining it. Changed major because of this class. Do not take her if you care about your gap.
She is a good professor and very knowledgeable, but can be drawn out in lectures. Very nice individual, but it was hard to focus all of class.
Lectures can be boring but are important to attend. She gives a lot of handouts in class that help a lot on homework. Sheri really cares about her students. Sometimes lets you work on quizzes together and will give home one take home exam. Also offers a couple opportunities for extra credit. First exam is challenging. Would recommend.
She was an okay professor, someone that you can tolerate. She would keep putting people on the spot to answer an in class question rather than going over it as a class. She gives handouts to do in class and lets you take them home for review. Exams were fine in my opinion - multiple choice. Did quizzes and assignments on an online website.
She's pretty good professor. She knows what she's doing for every class. I actually know the lecture from her. There are many homework but they are helpful. I will say take her.
She is a good professor and gives out lots of handouts to help you learn the material. If you need to take accounting, take it with Gilberstat. Super nice professor and as long as you study, the exams are not that bad.
I think Professor Gilberstadt means well but her lectures were hard to follow as well as her exams. You can study as hard as you want and use her review and still get a D . I liked that every homework assignment was on an online website but it got to be a lot.
Sheri is the best! So knowledgeable and cares about her students so much. Always gives good feedback, but is quite slow at getting grades in the computer. Discussion posts are easy and the quizzes weren't too awful. Overall a great lady!
DO ALL ASSIGNMENTS and you'll do fine. Study for the tests, they are a little challenging, but go into office hours. Sheril is so caring and loves to help her students and will do everything she can to help you learn. Orion on Wiley helps a lot for tests. Other reviews are so harsh, take this class!
Hated accounting, but I'm glad I had Sheril. Very sweet lady-- brought in treats, lots of extra credit, and tried to make the class entertaining. The only negative is having to go to class for iclicker points, which are graded.
THIS CLASS OVERALL ISNT TOO BAD, SHE IS UNDERSTANDING AND CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS, BUT YOU CANT JUST SHOW UP TO CLASS AND TAKE A TEST YOU NEED TO STUDY BECAUSE HER TEST ARE DIFFICULT
Lecture was organized but extremely boring. Lots of homework/reading which helps a lot with practicing but definitely overloaded. She has high expectations. Very hard class - had to retake after taking Gilberstadt's class. If you can choose someone else, do it!
The class was the hardest course for me last semester, but manageable. Professor G was always willing to meet during office hours to discuss questions. Professor G's exams are difficult but only based on lecture material. Very knowledge and intelligent in the field. Stay on top of online assignments and study two days in advance for an exam.
Dr. Gilberstadt really cares about her students but her exams are EXTREMELY difficult. All exams are lecture-based but they're very wordy. She's always willing to help inside and outside of class but she often just does the work for you if you go to her outside of class. She does curve your ending grade a lot which is a plus. Super boring lectures.
alright so accounting sucks anyway, but Gilberstadt is probably the best choice for your teacher. She is very organized and the class is very interactive, so make sure to sit by people you know. Study for tests at least 3 days in advance, you'll thank me later. This class is a lot of work, so make sure to manage your time well. The class isn't easy
The lectures are insanely boring, and she does not help make them interesting. Homework, quizzes and busy work are all online and pretty time consuming and due every week. Tests are multiple choice and are more difficult than the practice problems in class. Not the worst, but definitely a difficult class!
This class is hard overall but if you are willing to put in the work you will be just fine. She is super nice and chatty but she can be kind of bad at explaining things in more detail so if you have questions you might want to ask someone else. Study for the tests and pay attention in lecture!!!!!
Sheril knows her stuff when it comes to accounting. She wants you too succeed. The tests are weighted the same as assignments so if you do bad it's not totally horrible. Her class is a lot of work and I spent the most time on this class. I suggest studying in groups and start studying at least 3 days in advance. Take ACC with her
Professor Giberstadt goes through material quickly and isn't very helpful in office hours. Lectures are boring. Her tests are multiple choice.
She is really nice and super interested in her students. Lectures are so boring and multiple choice tests are relatively hard. Almost fell asleep in class multiple times.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Avoid taking here, and here's why.. 1. Every lecture you go to doesn't set you up to succeed. She acts like accounting is easy when it isn't. 2. In class problems are nothing like the homework. 3. She cannot answer specific questions at all.
She's super nice and willing to help students. Wants her students to succeed. Read the textbook and do the homework. Pretty easy class overall.
She is a very good professor if you are willing to put in the effort the class requires of you. Not an easy course but she is very helpful and will always answer your questions.
Sheril was a pretty cool professor. She extended my exam like once or twice. Her tests are pretty difficult but if you do the review work, you should be okay. Weekly assignments, usually a quiz on Mondays and an assignment on Wednesdays. Lecture heavy but does require you to participate. Overall, not a bad class.
Doesnt give any feedback. Extremely hard to learn from her powerpoints. She didnt respond to my emails. Not a good experience if youre not already good at accounting.
I don't recommend her class at all so unless you have no other option, avoid it. Her lectures are fast, boring, and sometimes difficult to follow. The lectures, homework assignments, and in class work often times have nothing todo with whats on the exams because they are all multiple choice. Unless you are good at accounting taking another class!
A good accountant does not make a good professor; take another class if you can. Her lectures, homework, and in class work have little correlation to the exams. Her lectures are also very boring. I almost fall asleep all the time because it is not interesting and her teaching is not easy to understand. She also is horrible at responding to emails.
a 5 minute youtube video explained lectures better than she did, required to teach the material to yourself before class by reading 30 pages of textbook, Very abstract/boring lectures. Tests are extremely hard and based on things we werent prepared for at all. I feel that my grade and learning of this material suffered because of this professor.
Prof. Gilberstadt is a tough grader, but really cares about her students learning. Accounting is not the most interesting topic, but she made it bearable.
Professor Gilberstadt is the best! Accounting is boring but she makes it a lot more interesting with case-based lectures and interesting examples. She also brings treats to class and is super responsive to emails or questions in office hours.
Professor Gilberstadt doesn't teach the coursework in the classes she teaches, she just shows you how she does it without explaining any of the why. Really, really horrible professor.
Just the worst
She is not a very engaging lecturer, and treats the class time as a review for the reading and assignments. There are usually 2-3 assignments a week due outside of class, missing one can be detrimental to your grade and missing out on information. You will be expected to learn material before the lecture and be quizzed on it through iClicker.
In class, she's very nice and helpful. But when it comes to the exams, she barely prepares you for them. I would study the study guide and practice exams for hours, while also going to every class and paying close attention to the content, but I would never perform well on the exams. Same story for several of my classmates.
Use the study guides to study for the exams. She is a good professor, lectures can be a tad long and can get boring, but overall the class is not bad at all. As far as accounting professors go, I would recommend her if you are looking for an accounting class professor that will help you learn and give you the best opportunity to do well.
Gilberstadt is a pretty good professor. She gives a lot of examples and really takes her time walking through problems. If you are nervous about accounting because you're maybe not the greatest at it, take it with her. She wants you to understand the content. She also made us scones for the last day of class. Her lectures can get a little bit long.
If you want to do well in the class you need to read the textbook. She tells you that on the first day of class. In every upper-level accounting class, you are required to do this as well. She lectures as if you have completed the textbook reading which is why she doesn't go into extreme depth. Exams are online but in person.
If you can avoid taking this professor, do it. She does not prepare you for exams and runs through the material in class really fast. Lectures get boring quickly because all she does is talk. She is not engaging and is extremely forgetful. Do not expect her to answer your emails.
I wish I would have chosen "Faculty" over her.She walks you through Excel so it's hard to pay attention when youre just copying her, and you dont learn much by doing that.I don't learn by reading through a textbook and that is how she teaches, little help on slides. Its hard to retain info from her.She says its introduction but doesnt teach like it.
I really enjoyed Sheril as a professor as she has a true passion for accounting. Yes, this class can be challenging, but its accounting lol, but she offers lots of practice problems and gives extra credit for attending study sessions. Her class also had A TON of opportunities for points to boost your grade. Ask for help, and she will give it.
Super nice lady, hard to talk bad about her but does not prepare you for exams whatsoever. No learning done in class at all!!
Her class is lecture heavy and included lot's of information, however there was always questions on the exams that contained unfamiliar material. I went to the SI sessions, attended every lecture, and did all the homework, but I still struggled on every exam. Her tests contain so much information that she has never mentioned. This class is so hard!
Get ready to read to understand the material. I attended SI sessions and this was the only way I could somewhat understand what we were learning. I had a hard time taking the tests since it had so much information. Make sure to use extra credit opportunities to boost your grade! Very very challenging course.
Sheril is a very sweet lady, however she is not the best professor. In her class, you need to know a lot of things but I never felt that she taught us any of it. I learned a lot from attending SI sessions and reading the textbook and that is how I was able to do good in the class. Take all extra credit opportunities given because you will need them
I didn't think this class was too bad. Sheril's lectures were somewhat helpful, but I feel like I learned most of the material on my own. Make sure to take notes and 100% do her practice tests before exams. I enjoyed her reviews for tests and she was pretty lenient on grading short answer Q's. I would take this class again with Sheril.
This is a hard class, no way around that. However, Sheril is great and tries to make class enjoyable with interesting stories. Pay attention in class and read the book if needed. She does great examples in class to help you understand the concepts.
Professor Sheril's ACCT201 class is challenging, but engaging if you stay on top of the material. Utilize SI sessions, the textbook, and unstuck AI to succeed. Tests can be tricky, so take advantage of extra credit opportunities.
The online section of this class is easier. You have a weekly homework assignment, sporadic discussion posts, exam review problems, exams, and reflections. Each of these activities is relatively straightforward. You do have to purchase Wiley to complete the work, and the homework can be confusing since it doesn't explain why you are wrong.
Get ready to hear the dreaded phrase, 'Alright everybody, time for WileyPLUS questions every day!' She's dull, but to her credit, she explains topics well and is nice and flexible with her students. One big plus: she's one of the only 201 professors with an SI. Do yourself a favor and attend SI sessions—they're the real value in this class. Trust.
The online section was reasonably easy. The assignments go pretty quick, exercises take a bit of time but are good for learning. Overall, I found the quizzes and exams pretty easy as they are all open note. Definitely recommend for someone who isn't all that interested in accounting and needs it for a requirement. Grading can take a while though.
HNRS Persuasion not ACCT201. Professor Gilberstadt did her best to engage students through the online format of this honors course. At times her assignments seemed way too heavy, and other times not enough. She tended to post assignments later than appropriate but gave good feedback to all submissions and posed questions to challenge students.
She is super nice and willing to help. Her lectures prepare you for the tests well. Definitely the best accounting professor in the department.
She is nice but can be selective of students she wants to be in favour of or not. Her accent is a bit annoying and sometimes she says some words in such a way that it's not understandable
She is passive agreement. Acts fake nice but is lowkey mean and differentiates. Her accent can be really annoying sometimes as she pronounces words in such a way that it's not understandable. Like for accrued she would pronounce it like cruel. She does not have any disability or anything it's just the talking to be fake nice
Don't take her class.
Assigned over 6 hours of homework due the night before the exam. Her lectures can bore you to sleep with amazing efficiency, yet you have to attend for the attendance grade. You frequently have to talk to her after class about getting your grade fixed for the in class attendance.
