She is always open and ready to help students! She has an accent but it is really easy to get used to! If you need help she will talk it through with you until you understand it. If you need to take Micro, get Dr. Moses
The class is not too difficult but you NEED to study. People go in the class,get a bad grade, and then blame Dr. Moses. She will gladly help you if asked.
Intimidating & hard to understand. Makes you feel unintelligent and ill-prepared for exams.
I loved Dr. Moses. She was kind, helpful, and knew many of the students by name within the first few weeks of class. She does expect a lot, but she prepares her students for success and outlines the class concepts well. I highly recommend her! She has a funny personality and loves Jesus, and I really loved that she had people pray before exams!
She has a heavy accent and gets irritated when you don't understand. She takes more than a week to answer your emails if she answers at all, and when she does she doesn't give clear answers. She goes too fast in the class and expects you to know it as soon as she says it. Her study guides are unclear and too broad. I would avoid her if I were you.
Dr. Moses is an awesome professor. She challenges you and does expect you to quickly learn the material, but she is completely willing to help as long as you communicate with her. Dr. Moses is my favorite college professor so far!
The class is very interesting but you need to study for tests and exams. Dr Moses is strict but very nice if you go to her office hours to bring clarity to the topics. Participate in class and study and you will do just fine.
David-Moses was a great professor! She makes you earn your grade and can be pretty blunt but she only does it because she truly wants you to know the material and succeed. She helped me beyond belief and extended grace,understanding, and tremendous help when I had messed up in her class. David-Moses is without a doubt my favorite college professor.
Dr. Moses was not only there for me when I was struggling in her Bio 205 class (Microbiology) but in my other biology course, taught by a different instructor, as well. She allowed me to attend her review sessions for her own class. I read the textbook throughout the semester and performed well on both of her exams so read, read, read!
Professor Moses is very knowledgeable about microbiology and has helpful lectures. She explains everything in great detail. She has a little bit of an accent but it's not that bad. My only complaint is that she doesn't tell you potential short answer questions but if you study you'll do fine.
Dr. Moses is a very good professor! The class was not easy, and because of how much material, she was not able to cover every topic in class. She gave good examples when explaining complicated subjects and is funny. Her study sessions outside of class I found super helpful for exams. Dr. Moses is enthusiastic and tries to throw in jokes all the time! Her accent is not too hard to get used to, but ask her to repeat or spell out words occasionally. She is really great at drawing complex concepts. There is A LOT of material in this class, so she goes pretty fast and expects everyone to read ahead. Very positive attitude!
I loved how Dr. Moses brought the material to life! Micro is complicated, but if you attend lecture, read the book, and prepare for exams the class is totally doable. Do not let her intensity scare you; she really loves her students.
Dr. Moses is one of the best Biology professors here at GCU! Yes she will make you work for your grade in her classes, but if you need help she will be there. Don't expect an easy A whatsoever. If you prove to her you're working hard, she will both assist you and go above and beyond in terms of advice and explanations. Got used to accent fast.
She was a tough grader, not many grades in the grade book. She as hard to understand when she lectures and she always lectures past class time
Dr. Moses is a phenomenal teacher, but you have to do your work. If you do what she tells you and do all of the assignments, you'll be fine. Very helpful in office hours too

Dr. Moses has an incredibly thick accent- this has been a huge issue for me. If you do not do well with accents, do not have this professor; I really wish someone would have told me that! Further, her tests are difficult, and she expects far too much reading per week, especially if you have other classes. She is also very critical and discouraging.
Dr. Moses covers all of the material in a clear, descriptive manner that makes it easy to understand. If you don't, just ask and she will be more than willing to help you understand. Her lectures are never boring and she is very relational with all her students. She wants her students to succeed, and expects you to work hard.
Dr. Moses' class was definitely difficult, but I don't think it's entirely her fault. I love her so much and she's been a great teacher, and she's consistently helpful, but the class itself is very challenging. You really have to study outside of the classroom to be successful. The tests are tough, and she really makes you work for the grade.

She's a very good teacher who knows her material, it's just that she expects too much from us as the students. Like I had 5 other classes so I didn't have time to read the book like she recommended. Be ready to know the power points and the material before you walk into class, because she will call you out to answer some questions. Good luck! :)
Biology is my favorite subject, but Professor Moses expects way too much from her students. I'm in the middle of the semester and I have to work hard to stay caught up. She will call on you and even when you don't know the answer, she gets upset at you if you don't know the answer or say the wrong answer confidently. I hate this class.
Microbiology was difficult since it was very deep in detail. Dr. Moses goes through the lesson normally without much analogies, so it was kind of difficult to digest all the material. She calls on people who she knows aren't paying attention, so be prepared. Overall, she's really funny and sarcastic. Initially she's pretty intimidating though

I've noticed a lot of my peers struggling, however, her class is a piece of cake. This could because I love biology so much, but I don't even usually read the textbook. She knows what she's talking about and will help you if you need it.
She loves to have fun but you have to pay attention and keep up with the notes. She was very helpful and was always welcoming during office hours.
She has a thick accent that is hard to understand. She appears to be very knowledgeable in the subject, however, does not know how to teach the students. Her lectures were not very useful for the quizzes in the class and outside sources were much more useful. Her writing during lectures is also very hard to read and understand.
She's smart, but doesn't know how to teach. If she calls on you and you don't know the answer, she ridicules you in front of the entire class and makes you feel bad for not knowing instead of explaining it to you. She's the reason I switched my major from pre-med. She has a thick accent and is difficult to understand, and you better read ahead.
Great teacher! Amazing class, made it so easy to understand and helped with other course outside of class. Welcoming to all students, explains concept clearly with many examples till we understand. Sets high standards. Great experience. one of the best.
I am an accounting major. She expects that everyone is some kind of science major and is very, very tough on the students. I spend most of the class trying not to look like she should call on me b/c I am always so lost. I study way too much for this b/c I have to keep my scholarship. If you like biology you will enjoy her teaching, if not, no.
Dr. Moses is an okay teacher but is very harsh. She calls individuals out who obviously do not know the answer and embarases them. In the one semester I had her she made two people cry during class. She does care about her students but it comes off in a negative way.
She is one of the best professors in campus . Had her for multiple courses. She prepares students to be ready for all higher classes. It is important to be active in class as she engages everyone. She challenged me enough to learn new information. I was recommended her class by many seniors who took her class. Fun and hard work for success is key
Got to study to pass this class. Teacher is helpful but challenges us to study. Class is fun and have learned a lot . Take notes and be prepared to read and study. Good class, will take her again.

Learned a lot more Biology than I thought I knew from class and lectures. Lot of new material and study to do well. Review material every day after class and go to office hours.
Moses is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is helpful, funny, and truly cares about her students. She gives participation based on small "quizzes" at the end of class, which is really just defining a word or two on some notebook paper in ticket-out-the-door style. This class requires a lot of textbook reading, keep up!
Lectures give a good general knowledge, but to do well on exams one will need to dive deeper.
Moses knows her stuff and she is always ready to answer questions and help you whenever you need help. She is very approachable and will give you guidance if she sees that you are actually trying your hardest. Reading before class helps a lot! I've willingly taken her twice and it has been great.
Dr. Moses was a great professor! She is very knowledgeable and available, but you have to make the effort to go to her. Also, it really helps when it comes down to grading if she knows who you are! Make sure to pay attention in class because she will emphasize topics that will be on the quizzes and tests. Forget about quizlet-she caught on.
Do not expect to get much clarification in class because the lectures are so fast. However, asking her questions during office hours does help.

At the beginning of the semester I had a difficult time with this professor. At one point I went in to ask questions about this material and I felt that she was responding as if I was stupid. I have never had a professor respond that way before. I ended up doing okay, but only because I put in a lot of my own time.
Dr. Moses is a good person and appears to want to help her students but she does not have patients for students who do not learn the material before class. You are expected to read the textbook before every lecture, if you do this the lectures are super helpful and it all makes sense. However if you get behind, it is hard to catch up or get help.
Personally, I liked Dr. Moses as a professor. Microbiology is definitely a class that requires studying. One thing I will say is she not the best at managing her time. I would recommend taking this class MWF because my T/TH class was always struggling to keep up. This class is not insanely hard, and if you put in the effort it's not hard to get an A

Get ready to read the textbook and go over the power points before each class, because that is what she expects from students. Tests and quizzes are difficult and given often. STUDY HARD!
Dr. Moses is very smart, and she explains the material relatively well. She posts all the PPTs online, although her study guides are rarely useful. To succeed, you need to read each chapter and take a good amount of notes. If you're willing to study hard, then she is the professor who will give you the most out of this class. Very respectable.
Professor Moses is one of the most compassionate teachers I have ever had. This was my second time having her, as my first was in BIO181. She continues to delight me, as she is really invested in making sure her students know what information is necessary for both the tests and for your future profession. I encourage all students to take her class.

She will also make you look dumb if she calls on you and you don't know the question to avoid this id read the chapter before hand.

Dr. Moses was an amazing professor. She really challenges you. Her office is always open, so she is there to help if you are struggling. You cannot slack off in her class. Her quizzes are very hard, but if you read the textbook and pay attention, you will be fine. Make sure to go over the quizzes with her. This will prepare you for the unit exam.
Incredibly intelligent, but is horrible if you're NOT an auditory learner. I spent 10+ hours every single day reviewing lectures, reading the textbook and memorizing everything as we went along, but got an F on 90% of the tests. She asks for constructive criticism, but will get very offended and ignore it when given.

Dr. Moses is caring, intelligent, and knows a lot about microbiology. However, it doesn't translate to students very well. Difficult to understand, very fast paced, and typo-filled tests/quizzes were extremely hard even if I studied for hours and hours or read the textbook, which didn't help. Runs over time and disorganized. Entire class struggled.
You WILL read! VISIT office hours! Dr. Moses is very knowledgeable, so pay ATTENTION to her. TRY HARD from the beginning! Watch related videos related to topics, it helps. USE resources she gives you cause she knows what the exams include. WRITE what she repeats or emphasizes. You'll learn about MANY processes, understand them- they're interesting.
Of all the BIO181 professors, I'd probably say she's one of the best if not the best. She knows her stuff, but she expects a lot out of her students. If you don't read the book, you won't do well. She's moves quickly, so stay on top of things. She can be intimidating at first, but make an effort to get to know her & work hard, then you'll be fine.
Moses is hard but a good professor. Just know you need to read the textbook and take notes on the chapter before class to understand the lectures. I never skipped a class because it would put me so far behind. Going to office hours was by far the most important thing I did to succeed in this class. I don't think I would've passed otherwise.
She moves very very quickly in lecture. Its impossible to retain information clearly because she moves so fast. She also likes to embarrass people when they answer a question wrong. And then she wonders why students don't answer her questions in class. You will rely on the textbook more than her. Red flag. I would not recommend this professor.
Incredibly hard to keep up with. Goes through chapters without even really teaching. She's intelligent, she doesn't know how to dumb it down for such a hard class like micro. Professors make or break a class! She & her ia's make you feel dumb for not knowing something. Avoid at all costs! I dropped her class but kept lab. taking over the summer
She is really sweet, and she knows what she is talking about but she is very hard to understand and in this class you will need to read A LOT. It is not really taught it is more read and teach yourself. But for the first half of the class you learn nothing and mainly talk about being a good student.

Professor Moses is a lovely person who likes to teach. She lectures the entire class, and is good at preparing you for higher level classes. However, this can make her classes more stressful. She does take participation very seriously, and makes sure students are on task in class by walking up and down the lecture hall, looking at computer screens.
She lectures too much too fast. Often times she'll end up covering a chapter in a day and try and squeeze in the beginning of the next topic at the beginning so you're completely lost the next lecture period.
I would not recommend. In my experience I've had with her, she isn't helpful and goes through lecture as if we already know the material. If you ask her to clarify something, she will embarrass you in front of the whole class. She will also call you out, and if you don't know the answer we will sit there for 10 minutes until you find it.

This is a difficult course so be prepared to work hard on your own, filling out the study guides and reading the book. She may be great for BIO, but she was definitely not passionate for SCI150. She was careless to help her students succeed in what was supposed to be an easy A class. Her lectures did not match with the quizzes and exams and would test us on lessons we have yet to cover. She was not organized. Her bad attitude comes naturally. Would not recommend.

I had her initially in Sci150 and I ended up dropping the class bc it was too hard. I went from being a determined straight A pre-med student to a belittled student who carries the horror of this class. I ended up receiving her on this upcoming semester for micro and i literally screamed and had a mental break down. This teacher should not teach.
Dr. Moses does not care for her students. If she does, she has a strange way of showing it. She will pick specifically on students who do not know the answer and make them feel stupid in front of the ENTIRE class. She moves through lecture way too fast and what she teaches is not on the quizzes or exams. Beware when taking her for this course.
For an introductory to biology course (and a course targeted at freshmen) she goes way too fast when lecturing and assigns a ridiculous amount of assignments and group projects. She also rewords all questions and answers on every quiz and study guide so when you are confused or lost it is nearly impossible to find the answers to the questions.

Moses is extremely knowledgeable which is good and bad. She knows what she is teaching very well, which can make it hard because she skips around and explains things very briefly because she expects everyone to read and know exactly what the lessons are on before class. Not very good at explaining things and the test questions dont make sense
She teaches really well and I learned a lot of new information. She got me ready for higher classes. she maintains good energy with the class and very approachable in class and office hours. tough reviews are given by those who want easy grades. But study , go to class and you will be happy when you finish. well challenged for good.
The way BIO181 was conducted was basically through reading the textbook then skimming them in the lecture via powerpoint. Then, you periodically get quizzed and tested. Dr. Moses, herself, is a pretty kind lady, but has a pretty high expectation that a student remembers and understands the lecture the first time they hear it.

Professor talks quickly and goes through 65 slides in 55 minutes. Reading the chapters and doing further research is expected to do well. Professor does not explain lectures clearly and does not prepare you for quizzes or tests.
Absolutely terrible. She doesnt care about her students. She picks on students on purpose just to prove that they dont know the content. She talks too fast and skips multiple slides. She doesnt give clear directions on what she expects for projects and assignments. And she doesnt prepare you for her tests and quizzes.

She expects you to read outside of class, which is where you will get the majority of information. She does lecture a lot but she goes fast and is hard to understand.

Prob one of the smartest humans on this planet. She is always willing to meet outside of class to help her students. She has high expectations for her students, but as long as they do the reading, she respects them. If you participate in class, it is easier to understand her accent (which was hard to understand at first).
Hands down the most caring professor I have ever had. She cares for her students and wants everyone to succeed. BIO181 is a hard class but I felt as prepared as possible for our tests. You have to study a LOT outside class. She does not give much homework unless it is to prepare for exams. I love her so much! Go to her office hours, it's worth it.

Take professor Moses if you're serious about the biology field, she will be an ally and help with anything you need. Best piece of advice is to go through her slides to study for the test it may seem like a lot but if you know/ study everything on them you're gonna get an A on all the tests. She is hard to understand, THICK accent. Very knowledgable but not a good teacher, tells you a lot of unnecessary information and does not explain questions well. Quizzes are all over the place some easy most are hard, never know what to study. She's also boring.
Absolutely DO NOT TAKE a class with her. She is honestly the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I never blame teachers for a bad grade, but in this class, I do. Her powerpoints do not make sense and she is not helpful during office hours. Her test questions do not follow the material she covers and have actually been wrong.
I appreciate Dr. Moses! She focuses her class on powerpoints, but she does a great job of making each powerpoint specific to what she will ask on quizzes and exams. Her office hours are great for clarity and going over quizzes. Use Quizlet to help prepare for quizzes / exams because some of the answers are on there.
She did a great job teaching microbiology which is very new and challenging course , made it simple to understand, gave good examples and ended loving the course. She is very kind and friendly, and easy to talk to. Always welcoming in office hours which gets busy and is understandable since she teaches other classes too. But she keeps time for all.
Dr. Moses is a very intelligent person and its easy to tell that she is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to biology of any level. This class was pretty power point heavy, but she does veer into her own path of lecture and uses it mainly as a guide. USE your TEXTBOOK. You wont pass if you don't.
Dr. Moses is an amazing professor! She can be a bit hard to understand at first, but you get used to it. She is very knowledgable and knows a lot about the subjects that she is teaching. Her lectures can be a bit heavy but she makes each on interesting! Take notes before class so you can focus more on her lecture and not the notes.
Before transferring to GCU, I already took an intro to bio class and got an A. The class did not transfer over so I had to retake it with Moses. Thankfully I already took this class because otherwise, I would hate biology because of Moses. Study guides don't line up with quizzes/exams at all. Treated the class as if we were babies.
I'm not very strong when it comes to biology and this class didn't help. She definitely knows what she teaching, but expects more out of you than what is a normal amount. Be expected to basically learn on your own because even if you go to class material still isn't going to make sense.
Great professor and genuinely cares about her students! She will help you understand the material, but you WILL have to put in effort to learn it and that means reading the textbook. I had her for BIO-181 and was quite scared to taker her class, but I had good reason to be. The class is fast-paced, but she is very knowledgeable in the topic. She has her PPTs posted before class, but you MUST read the chapters beforehand and go through the PPTs before class and take any additional notes during. She is not too understanding.
Dr. Moses is the WORST professor. She always goes over her time limit, making me late for my next class. Her lectures are all over the place and not clear about anything. She won't tell you how to study for the quizzes and exams. You cannot reach her outside of class. She posts the slides 1 hour before class so you cannot take notes ahead of time.
shes smart but shes just not good at explaining things at all. You basically have to teach yourself everything the whole class, her lectures are confusing and everyone is always lost. When people ask questions she doesnt directly answer the question and you get even more confused. I would not recommend her if youre not an Independent learner
She does not know how to teach the material, she only reads it from her slides. She will not tell you what to study, and she will not open your quizzes to help you learn from your mistakes. The exams are very hard and she does nothing to help you prepare. She always says we will review in class but then she ends up teaching more pointless material
This class was all online this semester and it was also ALL self taught. The lectures were not helpful and there is SO much my information in Micro so she did not help in the slightest. If we all did bad on a quiz or test she was just talk about how its "clearly this one" and "how could you guys choose this" and just move on.
Professor Moses is a sweet person overall but I do NOT recommend her. This class is very unfair because we have no idea what to expect for upcoming quizzes and exams. She gives out study guide that have almost NOTHING to do with the upcoming quiz/exam and no matter how much I study for this class, I always do horrible. Very upsetting.

Her lectures are very thorough but ultimately unhelpful. I wound up teaching everything to myself. Her class content is well-organized and easy to follow, but she herself was condescending at times.

The only thing she does well is telling us how bad of students we are because we do not do well on the kahoots. DO NOT take her.
The class itself isn't necessarily hard. Read the book, make flashcards, and just keep up on what's being lectured to you. However.. She is not incredibly respectable. Made a kid sit in silence for 20 minutes and scramble for an answer to a question she asked, not letting anyone help. Blamed poor quiz grades on us not studying. Left classes early.
Moses comes off as intimidating, but if you go to office hours she is very helpful and kind. Be prepared to answer tough questions during your CLC presentation. Strongly recommend for BIO-181
She does not teach. We had to teach ourselves everything and could not expect help from her. If you ask her questions she makes you feel stupid, doesn't answer or is passive-aggressive. Never have felt comfortable asking for help in class. The quizzes also have nothing to do with the lecture.
Moses is a great teacher however there is a lot of material being given. Be prepared to read the textbook to get food grades because most questions come off of it. She comes off rude but when you talk to her one on one she is actually super helpful and kind. She only wants the best for you and is very understanding given your situation.
I am warning you DO NOT take prof Moses for BIO205. She seems sweet at first but it all goes downhill. She is extremely condescending and makes students feel dumb in class. She lectures for an hour and a half, none of which is relevant for what you are tested on. I only got a good grade because I taught myself the material and read the book.
DO NOT take this professor, I have never had a professor this RUDE and INCONSIDERTE of students. She isn't understanding, her lectures are horrible and don't make any sense. I tried to go to a review session for help and she kicked me out because I was 4 minutes late. She makes it as difficult as possible and the tests are all over the place.
A very good professor. Takes effort to make difficult concepts easy. Not the teacher for those who want an easy A .Prepares you well for harder classes, so glad I took this course without hesitation.
wouldn't recommend taking this prof unless you want to teach yourself the material. she'll give you the ppt notes but will read off of it during lecture. she gets side tracked with her lectures so some of the information isn't even needed. she doesn't specify what will/won't be on the test. her lecture is not really useful, imo.
You'll do okay in her class if you have the desire to know every single fact from the powerpoints. Her lectures are useless- she reads off the slides. The quizzes/ exams are through Connect, so she doesn't make them herself. However, she makes no effort to prepare you for the quizzes and the study guides are useless. Must teach yourself everything!
This class was a horrible experience. If you take her expect to teach yourself a majority of the material. Her lectures are very heavy and she often picks on students randomly to answer questions and gets mad when you don't know the answer. The quizzes have absolutely nothing to do with the material and the homework literally takes hours DONT TAKE

Dr. Moses is a great professor. She is professional and cares deeply about her students. She expects her students to work hard and attend her classes so that they can be successful and get the most from the course. Dr. Moses is super sweet and knowledgable. She really tries to connect with her students and wants them to learn. She does tend to read off her PowerPoints, but her PowerPoints are pretty thorough with what is needed to study for the quizzes and tests, but she does throw some questions from info that may be overlooked.
Dr Moses is amazing, caring, makes class interesting. She explains very well and gives good examples. Helped me with a good science foundation, and prepared to be strong for all other science classes.

She is way harder than the other professors and does not have a clear expectation of what will be on the exams. She speaks softly in class and makes it so boring, yet all the other microbiology professors are clear and help you understand the material better.
I HIGHLY recommend you don't take this professor. She sets her students up for failure and nothing she teaches in class us what we are actually tested on for quizzes and exams. All the other micro professors are easier and give you a chance to succeed. Her study guides are useless and for our first exam, not one person in the class got an A.

Prof Moses does not teach well or prepare her students for the quizzes or tests. She talks about things from the units during lecture that are not in the tests or quizzes. She teaches units in strange orders and never summarizes concepts for basic understanding. She has little sympathy for brand new semester 1 freshmen. I don't recommend.
The whole period is a confusing and long lecture. The slides are not enough to prepare you for quizzes or tests, you need to read the textbook and get every detail. She talks very quietly and doesn't like to use the microphone. Study guides do not help. The quizzes/tests are all application of the info so you have to understand everything you learn
This class is by no means easy but if you put in the work then it will pay off in the end. She gives study guides and then lectures about the material on the study guide. If you actually put in effort when doing the study guide and pay attention during the lecture then the exams and quizzes are not difficult.
Dr. Moses would make us feel bad for not knowing the answers to questions. She would not take accountability for her horrible teaching and rather blamed the students for "not reading the textbook". The worksheets were useful for quizzes but she wouldn't go over the answers in class. Amplifier assignments were very tedious and not very useful.
Dr. Moses encourages students to speak up and be wrong, but sort of laughs at you when you actually are. For this reason, I don't like to talk in class even if I am confused. I studied what we were given for our first quiz, and it was very different from what we had learned in class. Other than that, she is nice and seems to care about students.
I enjoyed taking Dr. Moses's class. While her accent is thick and some think she is difficult to understand, I had no problem following along with her lectures. She prepares you well for the quizzes and exams, so paying attention in class is recommended. If you put in the effort you will succeed in this course.
It is a difficult class with a lot of reading. but as long as you show up to class and take notes and study. its easy, first exam is very. hard I think the class average was a C. the second exam was easy by studying the class average was a B+. Just study. she's awesome. she does randomly call on people, but if u sit in the front, not so much
She is definitely not the worst teacher I've ever had, but she is really tough on her students. You have to put in a lot of work for this class, the lectures are great however they do not cover everything that is on the quizzes. Exams are the majority of your grade, so make sure you are studying ALOT.
Dr. Moses is an amazing instructor, in my opinion. Having said this, she may not be a great fit for everyone. She is by no means an easy professor, and she expects top-tier performance from her students. If you are serious about your academics, she will be a good fit for you. She is also funny and kind and I always felt entertained during class.
Dr. Moses is incredible! She truly cares about what you take away from the class. She wants you to be successful in future courses and this course. I was struggling with a chronic medical condition and she always made sure to check on me. If you read the textbook, ask questions (she WILL happily answer them!!), and engage in class, you'll do great!

Moses is good at teaching biology topics and cares about everyone's success. Her office hours are very helpful, and I recommend going to them after every quiz/exam. She remembers students who visit her. Reviewing notes before lecture is SUPER important. She calls people out rarely, but it's not that scary. Her accent isn't hard to understand.
Biggest thing is she talks too much about things that are irrelevant to the course, she runs out of time and just tells us to read the book instead. For our final, we were not lectured on 2 out of the 3 chapters on it. Reading the book would be fine if it was the 9th edition not the 11th. The slides are the 9th edition. Not sure she knows that.
Take her! She is really good in teaching, provides good slides. Home work, study guides and offers office hours and very approachable and highly knowledgeable. She prepared me well for other classes. Her slides , lecture and reading book will make one succeed. I improved on study skills and interest in biology has grown after her class.
A lot of the reviews are negative for Dr. Moses but I promise you the class is not that bad. Just show up and listen during lectures. I started off reading before every lecture, and it did definitely help, but halfway through I just couldn't with all my other classes and I did fine. She's not mean, just dry humor!
I absolutely loved Dr. Moses! She was great for a lower level biology class, she knows and explained the material well. Her teaching style is different from most professors, at times I felt like I was back in a high school class again. Definitely visit her office hours to review quizzes! Love Dr. Moses and would take again.
Dr. Moses lectures a lot in class and goes through content pretty quickly, but always ensures you know when the next quiz or exam is coming up. She's funny and made the class laugh a lot with her jokes. The quizzes were easy if you did your homework and truly learned the content. There's no reason not to do well if you're paying attention in class.
Dr. Moses is a good lecturer but she always runs out of time and then tells us to read the textbook or look up Khan academy videos to understand what she didn't go over. The quizzes and exams were pretty easy but I had to teach a lot of concepts to myself outside of class.
I have mixed feelings about Dr. Moses, but overall I really enjoy her teaching style. It takes a bit of time to get used to her faster-paced lectures and the tangents she can get lost in, but it is definitely possible to do well in her class with a bit of extra studying outside of her assigned work. Super friendly and caring!

Dr. Moses is a great person but not the best professor. She's really funny. She is so smart but I think it's hard for her to explain the topics on a level that freshmen will understand. The students had a bad average on a quiz because she didn't teach the material well but she blamed the students for not knowing. I wouldn't take her class again.
Dr. Moses was a very caring and thorough professor. Every class took up the whole time so if you want to get out early I wouldn't suggest this class. That being said, class time was used effectively and Dr. Moses made sure each student was able to understand material and do well. Most points were based on participation and tests.
I took bio333 (molecular and cellular biology) with Moses! It was a hard class but I would suggest making the study guides she gives out very detailed!
Would not take this class again, she goes super fast and expects you to understand over 60 topics in one class. She does not know how to teach to freshman and needs to slow down and actually put stuff we learn about on the quiz. I LOVE HER THO, she is super nice and funny and so incredibly smart and you can tell she loves the lord,
She is a really good professor for bio 215. Her lectures are straight to the point and she highlights what you need to know for upcoming exams and quizzes. She provides resources for her students and is available to answer questions whenever.
This class is hard, straight up a hard class. It is very test heavy and the lectures can be very long and boring. Professor Moses tries her best, and the times I did talk to her she was super nice. Sometimes she is hard to understand but it is not all that bad.

Professor Moses is amazing! I would definitely recommend taking her. She has a slight accent but it is easy to understand her. As long as you pay attention in class and take notes on what she emphasizes, you'll get an A. The quizzes and tests are fairly easy--not much studying is needed as long as you pay attention in class.
The lectures are fast and skip slides with the information needed on the slides when she runs out of time. She never summarized, she would just read off of the slides. Does not make the environment comfortable enough to ask questions. When she asks questions, she'll single someone out and make belittle them if the answer is wrong.
Moses was pretty meh. During CLC presentations she tends to interrupt your group even if you get one fact wrong and she can tend to put you on the spot randomly. She explains the science like we already know everything and she isn't descriptive about all the processes. Would not take again.

Bio 181 is a hard course, but Dr. Moses made it interesting and meaningful, prepared me for higher level courses giving me confidence for grad school. Many students take multiple courses she teaches and are lucky get in to her class.
Waited to take Bio 333 with Dr. Moses. I have taken her Bio 181 and 215 before and she made Bio 333 seem so much easier. She just makes Bio fun, seemingly easy and prepares us by raising the bar! Sets very high expectations and prepares you to meet it .
Took her for 3 courses and now I am ready for grad school. All her positivity and guidance she gave me throughout prepared me well. She is smart, caring and funny. She is strict and sets high expectations which many enjoy the challenge and some find her difficulty for the same expectations.
She is by far my favorite professor. It is very important that you attend class because her lectures are so helpful. ALWAYS read the chapter before class it will make our break your grade. If you don't understand a topic speak up in class or she will move on to the next topic. You are responsible for the grade you want.

It is a critical course for Bio major. She made it meaningful and explained processes so well along with practice activities in class which really helped in preparing for exams. Great professor, very engaging and time went by quick despite being a 2 hr class.
I had Dr. Moses for both BIO-181 and BIO-333 and she was amazing. She was by far one of my favorite professors at GCU and was so helpful. Go to her office hours outside of class if you are unclear on the material but she is truly there for her students and is also really funny.

Professor came over to my peer and I after a quiz and asked for my scantron assuming I had cheated. I had not especially since my peer was taking a different version of the quiz. She also interrupts during presentations either to correct you or to ask a question. Mandatory study guides for class that take up a lot of time for 7.5 points each week.
RUNNN! This professor is horrible please take anyone else for microbiology. To start off she has an accent so sometimes she does mix up words or mispronounce things. But this isn't the reason for the bad review. Her teaching style is horrible she will constantly focus on pictures and overteach those than teaching the actual material. Part 1
She just reads off of the slides without any detail or further explaining and she is very monotone and seems like she doesn't like to teach. She had a family emergency to which led to her being gone for a week which is no big deal but when she came back she tested us on different material compared to what we were taught by the sub-professor. Part 2
Her study guides lead you no where they aren't even relevant to the quizzes or exams and when you bring this up she will deny it. I have learned more from the sub-professor in the week she was gone than I have from Moses the whole semester. If you do happen to be stuck with this professor be prepared to teach yourself! Part 3
I feel like this professor became a little bit strict during the end of the semester. She tends to call on random people to answer a question, and she waits until you give her an answer. This professor will call on you in class, especially if you look like you don't know what's going on, and she will wait until you give and answer. Always read before class because she often speed runs through the slides and doesn't cover everything that's on the test. And the one time I went to see her for office hours she was an hour late.

Posts study guides that barely match the tests and quizzes a lot of the time less than a couple of days before the quiz or exam. She is very mean and will go out of her way to embarrass you or make fun of you during class.

My friends recommended her and glad i took intro bio with her. She is strict and no nonsense professsor and kept the class engaged, and students learned quickly not to distract her while she teaches. Be prepared before class, and that helped me understand material better as she teaches well and helps understand better. Will be taking her again.
The professor was clear and I understood the material, I spent a lot of my time studying. I would warn students that with my class she was very unclear in the due dates and would be unclear in when things were due. She was also upset when students did not know an answer. I definitely would not recommend her because of the unnecessary stress.

Her study guides, quizzes, and tests are often grammatically incorrect which caused me to miss questions that I knew the answers to. Read the chapters from the textbook before coming to lecture, and the course content will make a lot more sense. I would take this course again.
Dr. Moses was alright. If you depend on in depth lectures, she is not for you. I needed to read the textbook heavily before class to succeed, my peers struggled because she would not be able to explain the material in class, and many were not able to grasp the concepts. Read the textbook and you will be more likely to do well.
Overall, I would say an ok teacher. Taking this class, I did learn quite a lot about biology but was very difficult. The professor is not clear when speaking because she has a heavy accent. Tough tests as sometimes the questions are designed to trick you.
I found it intimidating to ask her questions. Sometimes her response to students came off a bit rude. Some of the information for this class was really difficult and it probably would have been better if she broke it down more. The tests were also pretty difficult.
Dr. Sherlin Moses is probably one of the hardest professors and is very rude to students on SDS and not understanding towards disability or learning at a slower pace. It was so bad to where I had to drop the class she is just a mean professor. Lots of discrimination lots of red flags due to the teaching and class
Dr. Moses is honestly a pretty good professor, its clear that she knows what she is talking about. She does have a small accent but you can still understand her just fine. The only thing that can get kind of annoying is she is sometimes in a bad mood and will just call out students but you get used to It and its not even that bad fr.
There is a ton of material covered in this class. You're basically reading the whole textbook. Study guides are due every week. Overall, she is a nice professor, especially if sees you putting in the work. She explains the concepts really well. Hint: Make sure to study her PowerPoints along with her study guides.

Lectures for a long time but barely covers the material. It is very helpful to go over the slides and take your own notes beforehand. She makes you do study guides for participation credit but they can be helpful for tests. Really knew the material and was passionate so asking questions helped to clarify material she didn't teach.

Dr. Moses' lectures and study guides strongly aligned with the quizzes and exams. Sometimes during lectures, she would rush through information but would provide Kahoots and other material to help us review this information. A lot of the information on her slides in red or underlined were direct questions on the quizzes.

Dr. Moses is a very informative prof. but you must pay very close attention to the lectures to do well plus read the textbook and do the study guides + amplifiers. Unfortunately, with the class only being 1hr 20mins Loom videos would have to be sent out and require much more self-learning. The tests are close to the quizzes but not exactly the same

Dr. Moses is a great professor that shows lots of love for the material. Going to her office hours is very helpful, as it can be hard to fully understand topics in a class period. Whenever she can't get through all of the material in class, she sends out loom videos which are very helpful, and shows that she cares for our learning, and our grades.
I recommend Moses for microbiology. It is a pretty memorization heavy course, however, if you consult the textbook frequently, you will succeed. Moses provides the class with Kahoots prior to quizzes and exams. She is one of the few biology majors at gcu that understands that this is just undergraduate level.
Very caring and kind teacher, very lecture heavy class, had to learn most of this class outside of lecture and had to spend lots of time studying. Just make sure to stay on top of your work, read, and study.
Very hard professor, but very passionate and a fun class.
Dr. Moses was an awesome professor to say the least. Attendance was mandatory but the lectures didn't really help me. YOU NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. If you don't then you will fail the quizzes and exams. The study guides and powerpoints do not help on quizzes or tests. Read the textbook and take notes and you will do good on the tests.
Glad I took Intro Bio with Dr. Moses, she prepared me well for other sciences and now taking cell biology with her ! Hard to get into her higher level classes, class is never boring! Makes us read the book with slides not giving all information. She teaches well! She won't hesitate to call out if anyone distracts class.
Good professor, pretty funny and fun class if taken with the right group. Hard work but very helpful and understanding professor.

Death by powerpoint, at a minimum: 50 slides on average. She goes through the slides rapidly. You have quizzes every week, an exam every few weeks. You also have homework due every Friday and Sunday. When the class fails a test, she calls it out in class - every time. I would not recommend taking this class to anyone with Dr.Moses.
Class moves VERY quickly. If you get behind, good luck. If there's something you don't get, good luck. Lecture moves on without you, usually moving through one chapter per week. Dr. Moses can be patronizing, and often implies her students are not intelligent when they express not understanding. READ THE TEXTBOOK.
Excellent professor! She cares for students and did a great job explaining in ways that makes it easy to understand.
She is the best for this tough course. She was highly recommended. She is straightforward and set the expectations very high. Kept the class engaged and in control, lot of activities, never boring. Always looked forward to the next class. Her office hours are busy but gives her time for all.
Professor Moses's lectures were very unclear about what we were supposed to know for quizzes and exams. She requires you to read all the chapters of the textbook, do the study guides, do the amplifiers, and listen and take notes during lectures. She is very knowledgeable but expects everyone else to become just as knowledgeable. Do not take!
Dr.Moses cared about the success of her students and gave us plenty of advice on how to succeed in her class. If you did the assignments every week and read, the class was fairly straightforward.
Make sure to study. She is funny and is nice to you if you actually try in her class. She goes fast with the slides so notes are VERY important. She occasionally will expect you to read a lot of the book. Her study guides and amplifiers were not helpful so I always studied using my notes. Btw she has a thick accent but you'll get used to it.
Run, find a different Bio-181 professor. She makes her students feel stupid intentionally. She also does not have any interest in understanding a students situation. She would rather ignore any students problems.
So... she does care and can be nice and funny but the quizzes and exams are HARD, you have to have a professional understanding of the topic before the quizzes and exams to do really well. Something that has helped me make sure I pass this class is watching Amoeba sisters before every lecture
Dr. Moses is kind, but was difficult as a professor. I did 90% of my learning outside of class. She is very smart but goes incredibly fast through the material, the main reason I passed is because my high school teachers taught me everything that I needed to know. If I came into this class with no prior knowledge, I would have been lost.
She is a great professor if you put in the effort for the class. The biggest struggle with this class was a lot of learning on your own as she did not have time to fully teach a lot of materials. There are always study guides due for each chapter that you learn over that week, however we did not learn more than 2 chapter a week.
Many people complain that Dr. Moses is difficult to understand with her accent, I think the exact opposite. If you're actually paying attention and following the lecture, you should have no problem understanding what she is saying. She is very good at keeping lectures on pace and engaging and her tests were not extremely hard. Would take again!
Moses isn't necessarily a bad teacher but she doesn't seem to care about students because of how many students she has. She is generally pretty chill but you really have to study outside of class, most of your grade will be from quizzes and tests. The quizzes and tests will have very specific questions sometimes that are unnecessarily hard as well.
(for BIO-333) GCU usually offers either Moses or Boyles for BIO-333, so do yourself a favor and PICK MOSES. The course is extremely difficult, but her exams are very straight-forward if you prepare. Boyles is significantly harsher on his exams. If you have Moses, study the slides, take lecture notes, and you'll be fine. Seriously don't take Boyles.
Dr Moises could be kind at times and I'm sure she is a kind person but in my experience with her she goes way off topic during lecture and she also expects her students to have the same knowledge as her and makes you feel dumb at times just for simply not understanding a concept.
I thought she was pretty good but when I talked to people with other professors it seemed like she was on the tougher side. She did help us understand what we needed to know for later courses because she teaches upperlevel courses, which was a plus.
Moses is an ok professor. She has a lot of knowledge and sometimes goes on tangents about higher-level classes that don't apply to you in Bio181. You must do a significant amount of learning outside of class, and you are expected to be familiar with the material when you return to class. Quizzes and exams are challenging.
Dr. Moses is by far the better option to take for BIO-333. She has a unique humor which makes class interesting, and she is genuinely passionate about cellular biology. The class was very interesting in my opinion overall, and test questions were fair. Overall a great, although challenging, class.
Sherlin is a great person and truly cares for her students. Unfortunately, to do well you must do a significant amount of learning outside of class and be expected to be familiar with the material when you return to class. She means well, however the execution could be much better. She moves quickly, so falling behind is easy if you're distracted.
