She is the BEST... her quiz's are straight forward and she is very helpful and explains everything u need to know clearly for exams. No trickery with her, and u must take notes and study, if she sees that you are trying and u do ur Homework and hand in ur labs on time you are set. she is the BESTTTT
I loved her and her class...she's a great professor!!!
great professor. very nice, works very hard at making sure you understand what shes teaching. gives MANY extra credit opportunities. doesn't mind explaining things twice.
prof.hiedary shery is wonderful you learn in her class and shes teaches u really well if u dont pass thats ur own fault
She was okay not the best not the greatest. She taught her own way so sometimes it helped a lot and other times it made it confusing! She had her favorites in the class, and was more leanent to her no matter what! her tests were passable except for a few, and you only passed if you studied word for word from her confusing, all over the place notes!
She's great!! I wish I had her for lecture also. She's there to TEACH...not to hear herself talk & makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Very helpful, will answer any questions asked & is way cool too. Take her if you have the opportunity! Definitely my favorite prof. this semester.
I was unimpressed. She claims to be helpful, but is not. She plays favorites and thinks she's god's gift to teaching.
she's pretty good......she likes to see you put forth an effort.......she teaches pretty good but she does have her favorites in the class.....it pissed me off alittle but i needed to pass so i didn't worry about it too much....she pretty good....you should take her
What can I say? she's awesome. She really knows what she's talking about, and no, she doesn't have favorites she just knows who knows their stuff and is putting forth an effort. If you don't take the class seriously, she won't take you seriously
She is a wonderful teacher, I have had her for chem 005 and 111 and she is top 5 best profs in the school. If you are a hard worker you should have no problem in her class, and she is definently the best among the chemistry profs, goodluck and no one should ever fail her class.
She is an excellent professor. If you come to class, pay attention, and follow her notes you will be fine. You have to work for your grade, but she makes a good grade very possible if you apply yourself. I recommend anyone to take her class and the lab with her too! She's Great!
GREAT PROFESSOR.....YOU LEARN IN HER CLASS.
I had her for chem lab she does curve ur grade at the end but overall she rarely helps u when u have questions and her quizes are extremely hard even she said so herself. Doesn't give u as much notes for the quizes and overall not a good professor if your looking for an easy A
i would never recommend this professor to anyone. quizzes are tough, not helpful to her students, and like the comment below me. . she thinks she is god's gift to teaching. if you want to pass chemistry 105 steer clear from heidary
Love Her she is a great professor. He is very helpful, actually she was not my lecture teacher and she told me to come in and take her lecture class. i think she gives very good material, and the hand outs that she gave us for the lab are the ones that i use for my lecture. if you want to really understand chemistry that is the professor to take
SHE IS DIFFICULT PLEASE DON'T EVER TAKE HER
She is mean, not humble and tough
I don't like the way she teaches is confusing.
At first impression, this professor seems arrogant and difficult, but in reality, she genuinely wants everyone to do well. Very approachable and offers a lot of opportunities to make up your grade. Don't expect a free ride though, you actually have to put forth an effort in this class. I would take her again for 112 but she doesn't teach it sadly.
3% from passing come on that is bad. she is really tough so if you do not want to be loaded up with hmwk and quizzes do not take her otherwise then take her, at least you learn something. and btw her tests can be hard
Difficult and challenging but the best Chemistry teacher. You will need to study and know material in advance. She seems intimidating at first but once you get to know her she really grows on you. You will use the textbook to read chapters in advance and if you can take her for Lab, she is awesome!
The best chemistry professor there is, doesn't take lightly to cheaters, and ppl looking for easy way out. But def will go to worlds end for you if you put effort in her class.
The chem dept has gone to the dogs since prof st amand left.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS WOMAN! Since taking CHE 111 I have not found a better Chemistry Professor. Went on to Chem 112 and the professors are not good at all. Heidary is fun and makes Chemistry fun. Quizzes will become very familiar, VERY familiar. She likes quizzes! She is difficult, but if you study and do your homework quizzes will relate.Take her!
She is a very nice professor but expect a free A. She explains things very well and tries to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. Classes were fun. I wish she taught Chem 112
She seems really harsh and mean at first. I think she just likes to get the people that aren't serious about the class to drop. She stops the 2 quizes per class by the 2-3 week of the semester. She expects a lot and makes you worry all semester about not passing then you end up with a grade way higher than you expect.
PROF HEIDARY ROCKS!!!! I love this teacher she is very helpful and will make sure you understand before she moves on! I learned more in lab from her than from my lecture teacher! Take HEIDARY if you want to learn!! Excellent Professor!!!
Exams in general were fair. Drops the lowest. But you have to study HARD for your grade. .the class requires countless hours of studying and hard-work, but overall I would recommend her. Anyone who is interested in chemistry should take one of her classes because you will surely learn a lot.
I love her! She was great, not easy but great. There is a lot of work involve and studying. This is a math based course. Her quizes are helpful. Her homework is helpful. Her test are not easy but they aren't impossible. She grades fairly. I recommend her if you are whiling to work hard. Loved her class so much considered switching majors.
she's a great teacher. this is what a college level course should be like. if you want an easy A its not gonna happen here. the material is extremely easy to understand if u put the time in. i mean, it's chemistry after all. attend si if u can cause the tutors help a lot.
Expects you to know and understand the material prior coming to class. The class is just a review. Quizes every day, tricky tests and very strict on attendance. She only teaches CHEM111,so all her focus is shifted towards it. Good luck.
She is a great prof. I enjoyed her class very much!
Professor Heidary is a very great professor. If you want a A or a B in this class study everyday. She gives a lot of extra credit as well. She also gives out quizzes every class day so student have to come early.
Her class was truly the hardest class I have ever taken. I was failing almost the entire semester; I saved my grade with the lab grade and the final. She is very stressful and expects you to study on your own and come to class knowing everything. If you don't know the material before you go to class she gets mad. She makes you a better student
This is one of the best professors I've ever had! Very helpful and goes the extra mile to make sure you understand. She won't put up wit slackers, so if you're looking for an easy grade tough luck. She gives a lot of work, but it prepares you for the exams. If she sees you're putting in the effort she'll do everything she can to see you do well.
She is literally the best professor I ever had. She is very tough on the edges but really cares for her students and does everything to help them succeed. If you're willing to put in a lot of work you will certainly do great in the class.
Absolutely the best professor I have ever taken. Expect to work hard, chemistry is not an easy course. Be prepared for her and you will be prepared for the rest of your science career.
Professor Heidary runs the best class discussion I have ever had the pleasure of being in. She would do anything for her students, including coming in on weekends to give extra help. She is straight forward, easy to understand, and makes a seemingly dull subject interesting. I highly recommend taking her class.
I love professor Heidary. She's a really tough professor, but her intention is to make you learn. Expect quizzes and homework overcalls, but if you do your work, you're going to really learn the material and surely end up with B+ or an A. She knows her students and helps us a lot. I wouldn't choose other professor. She is the best!
I was a visiting student from Rutgers U when I took Prof Heidary for Chem in the summer, & she is a great & fair professor. She genuinely cares for her students & helps in every way, but will make you work for you grade. NOT an easy A, but def NOT impossible. She wants you to learn Chem & how to study for it. Just put in the work & you'll be fine!
I love this woman! The first day you might be intimidated by her as she comes off a little strict, but inside she is the sweetest person. She's there for you in academics, and even when things get a little crazy in life you can tell her anything. Her lectures are very informative, so try not to miss class.
I love this woman. Not only did she teach me chemistry, she made me love it. I took her over the summer, and it was super stressful but totally worth it. Her tests are fairly easy if you practice a lot and her quizzes make sense once you get familiar with the material, all you have to do is stay ahead of her, study, and practice on your own.
If your looking for an easy A, wrong person. Professor Heidary is the most difficult professor I've had BUT IS MY FAVORITE because she taught me inspirational life lessons that will not be forgotten. She teaches you how to study, the value of knowledge, and chemistry was just a bonus. Loved every second of class. I don't know chemistry, I own it!
Fall '14: I loved this class. She can be a ballbreaker if you give her a reason, but she does care and notices which students give a damn in her class. I'm not even a chem major, but I can still recall concepts from this class a year later. Yeah, you'll get challenged and she'll get under your skin once or twice... and at the end you'll thank her.
Boss Teacher
She is the best UCC professor. I love her and I know that doesn't matter for what you need, she is there for you. She is hard, but she teaches you. Be prepared for quizzes every class and study hard, but she gives a lot of extra credit as well. She is awesome! Especially, if she sees that you are working a lot and going to alc and sss. ;)
An excellent professor, but her class specifically isn't for everyone. As a student you have to adjust your way of learning to her style of teaching(she expects you to be knowledgable of the material before she actually teaches it). Her lectures are more like reviews & she gives information that your notes and book won't show you. PREPARE TO STUDY.
Her passion for student success is great but would say her teaching style is not for everyone. Expects you to learn the material prior to attending class. It's true that her classes are just reviews & it can get frustrating when you don't understand the material clearly, she's moving at a fast pace & ALC doesn't always effectively help. Work hard!
The best professor ever
I took this class because the school wouldn't take my chemistry credits since the lab and lecture were two separate grades. Professor Heidary is one of those professors who forget most students have additional classes other then hers. I had A+ in chemistry at my last school and it was ACS certified. Professor Heidary has no degrees in Chemistry.
Very hard class. Professor expects you to keep up with the readings, participate in class, and it's expected be to take daily quizzes. She will help you, go above and beyond, and even teach on Sundays to help you learn the material. Serious professor for serious students who want to learn chemistry.
Professor Heidary is an amazing professor. She really cares about her students. However, she focuses on the ones who really want to work & learn the material. Anyone can memorize formulas & the steps to the answer, but not everyone can UNDERSTAND the concepts. She's incredibly passionate about what she does & tough. Put work in & you'll be fine.
Professor Heidary is awesome! Her lectures are great and really makes you work hard to get a good grade. But if you put the work in, you'll reap the benefits. She gives ample amounts of extra credit and is understanding. Only reason to fail is if you don't try. Get ready to use that text book!
Overall a great professor. Very dedicated to her craft and makes everything very understandable
By far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She expects you to read her notes and understand it completely. Before the lecture their is always a quiz so if you did not understand the material get ready to fail. If you are a visual learner DO NOT TAKE HER. You are basically your own teacher.
A very good professor who is dedicated to her students. You come to class to review, not to study, this is for any science class. Her quizzes and packets are designed to help you pass your tests, and she goes out her way to help her students. Her quizzes are a checkpoint for your studies, not your overall grade. Expect to keep up at her pace.
Professor Heidary is one of the best professors I've ever had. She actually cares about teaching you the material, and not just getting a good grade. The only thing I would say is if you are taking her class, know how to manage your time.
Prof. Heidary is a great teacher, however she is very strict on her grading. If you do a lot of extra credit she will tend to give you a higher amount of extra points on exams and quizzes. I def recommend going to the tutoring center for extra help. Expect to have quizzes in every class and read the material beforehand. Def print out her notes.
Professor Heidary is a good professor in the sense she is very passionate about teaching chemistry. She doesn't want her students to fail but if you do not work as hard as she recommends she will deem you a good student but not a "college level" student. She can be insensitive sometimes but if you try to communicate maybe it may help. Her quizzes/t
By far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She expects you to read her notes and understand it completely. You basically teach yourself. If you are not good in science DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor Heidary wants her students to know and understand the material prior coming to class. The class is just a review. Quizes every day, tricky tests and very strict on attendance. She only teaches CHEM111,so all her focus is shifted towards it. Just avoid her if you can.
she is passionate about teaching but expects her students to kiss her ass. she teaches entirely too fast and expects you to understand material before enetering her class
STAY AWAYYY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!
the effort that you make doesn't count in this class
Amazing!! If you work hard, you'll do great. Recommend going to the ALC and CLS for help if you don't understand the material in lecture/lab. She includes it as extra credit, and study because she expects for you to be somewhat familiar with the material before coming to class. If you want to be motivated and inspired, she's the perfect teacher.
Heidary is a great professor. You will not like at her at first, but if you stick with her throughout the semester, you will realize that she is dope
Very focused, dedicated and passionate. Gives you many quizzes to keep you on your toes, but that helps keep a single bad grade from ruining your average. Doing her extra credit work has the effect of making you a better student, so do it. Exams are tough Chem is tough Practice makes permanent
So far, my favorite professor. She is very strict with her students, especially when it comes to studying, finishing your assignments, and passing your exams; but overall she genuinely cares about her students, and is willing to help them in any way that she can. I definitely recommend taking her, but don't expect to pass this class with no effort.
Professor Heidary is very passionate about chemistry and her students. Her lectures are engaging and her tests and hw reflect the lectures. She allows for extra credit for every chapter and it's really encouraged to do it. If you learn the material well, you'll do well.
Professor Heidary is EXTREMELY PHENOMENAL!!!Her teaching style redefines success in Chemistry and College! Also, she is very caring and encouraging!!Now here is the deal- You have to study hard, solve problems for extra credit,go to the ALC very often,do all your assignments and pay attention in class. Join her class and have an amazing time!Good luck
Professor Heidary is an amazing professor. You can see that she truly cares about her students and teaches with so much enthusiasm that inspires you. Her class is challenging but will really prepare you For upper level Chem courses and teaches you how to study. Her extra credit forces you to study and learn the material which is brilliant.
I have never seen any Professor more passionate about her students. She gives equal attention to those who deserve it and are willing to work hard in her class. She has been an inspiration and a source of motivation; She has taught me things beyond a class setting that would help me is my career path. She is the definition of the word exceptional!
she literally barely teaches you. she does not go over your questions properly. She gives you 3 quizzes every day!!!! not helpful at all!! she grades very hard!! expect to spend 10 hours in the ALC weekly just to understand her. (she has an accent to makes it worse) so many people have dropped out of her class. if you care about your grade is a no
Professor Heidary takes some time to get accustomed to; however, once you are comfortable with her standards, you will realize how great of a professor she is. This well-respected woman knows everything about chemistry. It is her passion. Not only is the subject her passion, but so are her students. If you cannot handle the heat stay out the kitche
Professor Heidary is one of the first professors Ive had at UCC. She made me believe in myself, and I dont think I could ever repay her for that. Shes a great professor and is always willing to help. She loves all her students and never hesitates to help us even after completing her course. Work hard, and you definitely will get an A.
In the beginning she was scary, but if you work hard and study she will help you earn an A. Also a great resource to have outside of class. Shes possibly the best professor in this school
I came into UCC really hating science, and I was dreading taking chemistry because I hated it in high school. It's because of professor heidary that chemistry is now my favorite subject. She made it really clear to understand and if you're having trouble she really wants to help you! Her tests aren't that bad if you do the homework, anyway.
She doesn't explain! Just tell you to read the book and you'll be good. Strong accent and intimidating, a little too much.
if you care about your grade you should not take this professor. she is not only a tough grader but she goes on like if this is the only class you are taking this semester and give you too much work because of it. She is tough but fair but her attitude and expectations are not great
Total garbage. Demands students come in for extra class time when the school is closed, every weekend, and during other class times, and gives students who do, special treatment. She openly berates students who struggle and expects them to spend hours per day in ALC. Doesnt teach and doesnt deserve to be called a professor!!!
Heidary is by far one of the best professors at UCC. She literally cares about her students and gives you an endless amount of chances to boost your grades. Don't expect to pass if you don't show up, don't study, don't do your homework or visit the ALC at least twice a week.
Love her! I came into UCC never having had real chemistry and she made it fun and exciting to learn. There's so many opportunities for boosting your grade throughout the semester there simply cannot be an excuse to not pass this class if you put the effort in. Get prepared for lots of papers and quizzes everyday! :^))
She's amazing, i learned so much this semester. Always work your hardest in this class! She takes note of students who truly try and those who don't and in the end of the day, you'll feel happy you did all the work. She's a phenomenal teacher and truly cares for all of us to do great. <3
She's such a joy to have honestly. She breaks concepts down for you to understand if you still don't, she goes above and beyond to make sure you do. She is very scary at first but she warms up as the semester goes by. If she sees your effort, she will do everything in her power to make sure you pass but you HAVE to try on your part.
The devil works hard but Heidary works harder.
Dr. Heidary is one of the teachers who acts not only as the teacher but also as a parent. She makes sure you study and practice the materials until you get it. One of my favorite words of her I teach for knowledge. I love this phrase and every time, I say to myself you are not studying to just pass the exams, courses but to gain knowledge.
You will hate her but after its over youll love her. I still think shes unreasonable, you do have to know the material the best you can before walking into class. Dont be late. She is intimidating but also a softy, like a mother figure in the school. Not an easy A in any way, shape, or form.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had and she will awaken you to the sciences, more specifically chemistry.
Professor makes it seem Chemsitry is the only class that we have or that we should "only" care about. Also expects us to be in the ALC for several hours. Not only that but crosses some boundaries as a teacher.
Basically my, and everyone's, mom. I can't say enough. I mean, Union County's chem department is the best I've ever seen, and she's one of the three heads, along with Khan and Rajpara. You're in good hands, but be prepared to put in a lot of hours to survive. But hey, that's a chemistry/bio major. Get used to it. Shes there to talk if you need her.
You'll walk into her class doubting that you can do it. You'll end up leaving her class having the confidence that you can do it. By no means an easy A and by no means an easy class to take. However, if you study and really give it your all, it'll make a world of difference.
chem mom
She isn't the best to put it simple. She can be a bit funny yeah. But overall. She doesn't care about your problems or mental state. Really wouldn't call her a professor with how she is. She expects alot from you at a certain high pace. She will not care if you cannot reach that pace.
i will never in my life take her again, she made me went to the ALC Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 12:00pm to 5:30 pm i did so much extra credit and she did not even give me a point, she promised that if we went to the ALC we had the chance to at least have 10 extra credit, but she lied......
take her if you are a STEM STUDENT. don't listen to non stem majors. She will inspire you to do better and push you to understand chemistry beyond text book and lecture. She is there for her students and prepares you for the next levels of chemistry.
Professor Heidary, was simply incredible. She was a professor who truly cared about her students and would do anything to help them succeed as long as they put the work in. Chemistry is hard, no doubt about it, but she goes to the extra mile to make sure you understand. I have never had such an amazing professor like her, and a great human being!
She is great at explaining chemistry. Makes you work for your grade, and really cares about her students. She is always available when you have questions or concerns and always gives opportunities to better yourself. She will take time out of her busy schedule to make sure students understand the curriculum by giving extra help on weekends.
Professor Heidary is probably one of the best professors I've ever had. She cares so much about her students and it shows. The class itself was really difficult, but it is clear that she is well-versed in Chemistry. She does everything in her power to help out her students including giving up her free time on the weekends to hold class.
CHE111 has a lot of material to learn, but Professor Heidary knows that and tries to help you along the way. Seriously, look at the notes and do your work. She makes things very clear and easy to follow. Also, she actually answered questions and replied to her emails. Definitely the best professor I've had at UCC so far.
Professor Heidary is the best professor at UCC! She truly cares for her students, and she will always be there to help you. Her class is not hard if you put effort and are eager to learn.
Most caring professor ever! Heidary loves her students, and works hard to make sure they will be successful in their future. Most students will drop her class on the first week of classes. Professor Heidary has a talent for unlocking students potential. Be patient and trust her methods of teaching.
She starts by saying that everyone is gonna pass with at least a B. If you get a low grade one time she wont care about you for the rest of the semester. She only cares about the students that get good grades. She does curve your grade at the end of the semester. If you want a professor who really care about you then do not take her.
BEST professor I've ever had. If you actually want to learn chemistry, take her. I wish she taught every chem class; she's AMAZING. But be ready to work for your grade. You can't not study and then expect a good grade in chem. Make sure to go over her notes BEFORE & AFTER class, do the hw, and go to the ALC. She really wants her students to succeed
Horrible professor. Mean lady. Terrible lectures. Gives too much work. Would never take again.
Chem mom. Sweet but sour. She is hard but will make you love chem, you will learn everything you need to know. take her seriously, don't fall behind and you should be good. Study with tutors that's what saved me. Have a study group! Take notes on everything, the homework will be your quizzes.
She is clear about her expectations, and her grading is fair and consistent. If you are not willing to put in the extra hours of studying, reading the power points she provides, and going for tutoring, you will not do well. You are expected to read ahead to know what the lectures are about. She gives a lot of quizzes and tests in each chapter.
Heidary is by far the best professor I've had, I had both lecture and lab with her. She tries to help students understand the course material, but she does expect you to put in the work needed. Her class isn't hard if you participate & do the assignments. It's very clear that she loves what she does and cares for her students. Highly recommend
I had her my first semester for lab and she was just amazing. She's tough but she clearly cares for her students and wants them to succeed. You have to work hard in order to good in her class, would definitely take another lab with her. By far my favorite professor so far
Heidary is the mother of chemistry. She truly cares for her students. She is tough because she wants you to really put in the work to receive credit. It's not that she doesn't care. Her home works, worksheets, and quizzes prepare you for the exams. You MUST do practice q's on your own time. Don't be afraid to ask questions (even "dumb" ones) :)
Best professor at UCC. She is a complete inspiration for all her students. She actually cares and if you work hard, she will reward you. Incredible at giving advice too. Do take care. She will change your view on science, I promise.
Prof Heidary is one of the best teachers I have probably had. The way she treats her students is very respectable and is something I am grateful for. She is a tough teacher and wants the best for you, but that comes when you do your part which is studying and trying your best. She made chem my favorite subject. If you can show effort, take her.
She's mildly terrifying but super good at her job. Single-handedly changed my perception of chemistry. She's hilarious and a great prof, you can tell she really cares about her students. She holds her class and her students to a high standard, which can be tough, but you learn a lot.
Sherry Heidary is a phenomenal professor who truly cares about her students' success. While her class is challenging, using unstuckstudy and going to office hours makes all the difference.
Professor Heidary is an amazing professor and definitely my favorite by far. I used to hate chemistry in high school and had no interest in it until I took her class. She really cares about her students and will prepare you well if you're willing to put time and effort into her material. Love her!
This class is run with a lot of tough love. You're either with the program or you are not. If you apply yourself, pay attention, and show that you want to be there, she will reciprocate the effort. The labs were fairly simple, and the quizzes were not difficult. Loved being in Heidary's lab!
