Hard, never will give you an easy mark
Marks quizzes and tests very hard. Subjective marker, hard to get full marks on questions. Boring class. Don't get her for lab evaluations!
just write the quiz and get your mark from last week, boring and dumb class.
I found her to mark decently. However, I'm in the monday class and she caters completely to the ignorant and retarded person (1 person). This is unacceptable as this is a UNIVERSITY level course. We have learnt nothing, gained nothing, wasted 500$.
Sherry is one of the better Biology instructors. It's not her fault the course material is boring.
Shes horrible run for your life is all i gotta say. Never will u get an easy mark from her, just goes over stuff u have already studied in labs makes going to class pointless. Never goes over stuff u get quized on until u have already writen quiz
ok yes her quizes can be hard at times but if u did the work u should get a good grade. and she is very helpfull. i have on multiple occasions gone to her after class and she give u all the time u need. the course is boring but that ism't her fault.
first time i found she was okey...however when i take biol1210 w/ neysa, i found sherry was so hard. her quiz drive ur crazy, no one knows how hard it is , she just pick up the weried defintion, trickiest comparision, and discussion, and also tough marker
very hard test, alwayz tries to trick you with questions on test. Over all very hard bio teacher take it with somelse
Don't take her and be happy
Very helpful when explaining topics, just ask. Accomodating office hours. Excellent teacher, most other students tended to skimp on studying - hence their difficulty. Read the text and write out condensed lab obj's to memorize.
she is blah
i still think she is hard...everything is hard in her class. neysa is much easier...for neysa's final exam in 1210, the essay questions are very easy, but for sherry essay questions, it is very hard to know exactly what she is looking for...
clear, willing to help. The most I hate about this instructor is her condesending attitude. It pisses me off. Also, I don't think some of her quiz or midterm questions were fair at all.
Sherry teaches at a good pace and is a good visual teacher. She is friendly and helpful. Her quizes and tests aren't too hard and she's a fair marker.

this is an awesome course. i loved it. and sherry was a pretty good to take it with. sometimes her lectures seem like a waste of time and you dont' really learn much but if you're doing the lab stuff you already know it. the best part is her tests are pretty easy if you study. she's very nice too
She gives preferential treatment to her "smart" students and leave lagging students behind. Better off with another Biology teacher.
Sherry makes you feel stupid, and speaks to you like u are a 2 year old...if u say something that isn't exactly the way she wants it, she makes u feel like a moron..wouldn't recommend her
Sherry doesn't know what she is talking about half the time- her classes are pointless- there is no point in attending- i got a B+ in this course only b/c i learned the material myself and b/c i have taken both bio11&12 b4
She is a fabulous teacher! Her quizes are tough, but if you are willing to do the work you will be fine. If you are having difficulty GO SEE HER in her office hours. It will really help she explains things very well and will try to explain differently if you don't understand.
HORRIBLE TEACHER
Great at explaining & a fair marker for example, if most of the class thought a quiz question was unfair/unclear with good reason she'd remove it or if everyone got a question wrong she'd say she hadn't taught it well & remove it too. Very nice person but If you don't like way she teaches you can go see a different one; they all help out in the lab
Worst teacher in History...realy really bad..
expect a quiz every week...and no there not easy..memorizing is not enough for this class.you need to understand the material...distinguish between and making connections is whatyou need to work on..although she is nice but she is a bit hard
She's a tough teacher but you will know what your talking about and do well on the final if you listen in class( and come to all classes) get involved with the discussion and instead of memorizing, learn the material. I have had both Sherry and Niesa Weins and Sherry is by far a better teacher.
Don't fight her. She wants everything in lamens terms, ie. blood is a liquid. You will learn a lot from her but she is a very hard marker.
Luckily this site ensures me to be reframed from adding profanity; she truely is a very bad professor, her classes are a complete waste of them because there is no information or help produced in there and the way she marks questions are absolutely unfair. Avoid this professor at all costs! Only take her as a last resort!
shes tricks u on ur tests..soo watch out
Ugh what to say about sherry? well she always tries to trick you with stupid little questions on the quizzes and she is such an unfair marker. I finish all the labs and listen to all the cds and i still dont do well and its quite discouraging. And its bull how she dosnt give us the essay topics for our midterms like every other prof.
hard teacher, hard marker, expects the most from her students and is the ultimate hardass. be prepared! or try and get someone else.
NEVER TAKE SHERRY WILSON. She is like toughest marker i have ever seen .... SO THINK TWICE BEFORE REGISTERING IN HER CLASS.

She is one of the hardest markers and doesn't ever really tell you what it is she wants on a test
not recomended at all... very hard marker
lol..wot can i say about her. she is horrible. her markings are very tough. she wants detailed answers, not the answers in lab manual but she wants you to read your textbook everyday. Her quizes are average but once again her marking makes a difference in the grade. if you are an A student, be ready to get like B-
All she wants is a clear explaination of the question....Overall she's great

o..m..g....if you want a kind, understanding, helpful prof...do NOTTTTT register in any of her classes....shes just plain mean..and rude...over all a not nice person
She is a very hard marker. You only have to go to class for her quizzes cuz she never actually teaches you anything in class cuz she runs out of time. You basically take the quiz and go over it. The stuff that you learn in the lab manual seems to not always be on the quiz...there are things you never even learnt in lab. Be careful with word choices
Sherry is the WORST teacher ever!! She is unorganized, her class notes are useless as she just zips through the (poor) powerpoint without letting you copy anything. doesnt know what shes teaching. She has SUPER hard tests and expects you to know every little detail about everything, even things not in the textbook. Tests are tricky!
I found Sherry likeable, organized and genuinely wanting her students to do well. No, she wasn't the easiest teacher, but she's also teaching a difficult subject in the self-directed Kwantlen Bio program. It's not meant to be easy. I never found her rude, unhelpful or uncaring! I felt she thoroughly knew her stuff too
well for students taking bio 1110 , pay much focus toward your writing skills and speed. Her quizzes were hard but studying the content and cd's make them easy. unfortunately, her tests are kind of weird ,long and unpredictable, she might even ask you about virus . Loved her quizzes but hated her tests.
I ignored past student comments and took the class with Sherry. BIG MISTAKE! Her tests are hard. Even if you get the answer right, you get a bad mark if you wrote it out wrong. She marks for English mistakes. Last time I checked, I signed up for a Biology class...not English.
Sherry is a very DIFFICULT teacher because of the way she marks and teaches. She has awful powerpoint presentations each class which don't help, and will take off marks for error in grammer or spelling mistakes on quizzes/tests. THIS IS A BIOLOGY CLASS, NOT ENGLISH.
Sherry is an experienced biology instructor who wants you to do well and will help you to succeed in biology. Her expectations and requirements are laid out extremely clearly. Do your homework - you'll get an A. I got an A- because I flubbed the lab exam. It's the slackass students that don't like Sherry.
As long as you finish weekly labs, and read the book, as well as powerpoint posted on bio1110 website, you'll do good in her class.
My instructor knows her field but has too high of expectations for first year Biology students. Compared to other Professors, she wants a lot more information and understanding of material than is needed. I would recommend this instructor to those students who want a challenging course, and want to spend way more time learning material than is nece
dont take her shes the worst prof ever. Completely unreasonable.
Very hard professor, biggest mistake I made was taking her class. expects way yoo much - gosh this is is first year class and she treat it as if it were third year. Do not take her, unless you are a Bio major.
Excellent and experienced teacher. If you study the material given in the lab and class, you'll definitely do well because her questions are based on them completely - there are no crazy questions. She's always willing to help, she's lenient, and she gives bonus marks if you attend campus seminars.
Shes good if your gonna major in bio, if your just taking the class just for a requirement find another teacher. Final structure is 2 essays, about 10 paragraph answer q's and a few mc. definately not worth the stress put on if its just a required to do course. Dont buy the textbook either, all the info you need is in the lab manual, save $150.
She is nice & if you go to her office hours she is really helpful and actually cares about getting to know her students. You will get a good mark if you actually like biology. Her midterm and finals were fair. People always say she is really hard but if you are interested and study she is really helpful
Her lessons are interesting and she will often relate them to real life to give you a better understanding. She has high expectations and wants clarity in your work. This is good and bad as she marks very hard. Asides from that, I really enjoyed having her as my prof. TY and go easy on the new students (would be nice!)
Excellent teacher, focuses on clarity to prepare students for future university classes. It is worth a low mark for a first year class if you will get better marks when it counts in 3rd and 4th year classes.
Sherry is a good teacher, but she teaches a hard class. She wants her students to do well in all of their classes, thats why you loose marks for writing skills. IF you pay attention to grammer and study hard you'll do fine. Remember, these classes are about the rest of your life, not about getting a grade.
Do not take this class if you're weak in English, expects way to much! very, very hard marker.I do not recommend her for students who need this class and expect to get a good mark.
For students taking this class as a prerequisite I would suggest getting a new intructor. She makes this class seem like it is a English class with lot of emphasis on essay writing. I highly recommend picking a different instructor.
strait forward professor. notes are easy to follow. the answer for the weekly test are easily found in you weekly questions she hands out. hard marker tho. a higher level of English is used in this course. overall good professor
She knows the subject well- Hard marker!
Decent professor if you're taking first year Biology 1110. Goes through PowerPoints pretty quickly, so you'd have to be good at note-taking and "write down the essence of the notes" as she describes. Explains content clearly. A somewhat hard marker as she focuses on grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. I'd recommend her if it's your 1st year.
This teacher has high expectations, if you have a good grasp of writing English and study, you will do fine.
Shes very difficult I regret taking bio 1110 with her I got a feeling that I'm stupid or dumb because I get bad marks in her class don't take this class with her you will lose marks very easily she's really tough grader I don't recommend her at all
Sherry is an awesome teacher. She is strict on how she wants stuff written but it is worth it since she gives good feedback. She sets you up really well for the next course and I would love to be in her class again!!!
Stay away at all costs. Don't listen to the reviews that say ohh she sets you up for future success. You would most definitely be explaining this poor grade to the graduate school you apply to. I would say stay away from kPU for sciences as they make you stick your head into the books all the time. I went to SFU and got the A's but never once KPU
Not bad
DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES!!! She is an extremely hard marker which your overall grade is jeopardise because of it. She writes cruel comments on your quizzes/test. She's written "please show you are learnable" & "gooder english gooder grades." The class is set up for failure and she makes you feel like an idiot. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!
She gives criteria on how she will grade tests and quizzes however, when you answer according to her given criteria it is still not enough. Paul Adams uses the same grading criteria and his students are receiving grades they feel they deserve. Sherry takes marks off for small grammatical and spelling errors no matter how well your answer is.
I unfortunately had an 8am class with her and, weekly she would quiz us on what we had learned that earlier week. Her teaching style is pretty eccentric, she may go on tangents or tell you some personal stories. I like how she gives us questions to answer for each class, this is a good thing to base your notes off of.
Expects students to have to take class twice. She told us to make sure we get 70% on lab so we won't have to take that again too, on the first class!!
One tip: don't take her class if you want a good grade. Unless you are an English major
Toughest prof ever .
Sherry is probably the worst professor at Kwantlen. No idea how she even has a 2.7 rating. Take my advice and don't take her class, I didn't listen to people and I regretted taking Cell Bio with her 30 minutes into the first class.
Sherry expects us to read before we come to her for help, she wants her students to be independent learners. Very tough on writing and grammar (on one quiz, I answered 90% of the questions and half of that 90 went to waste because of my writing mistakes). Don't take her class unless your English is solid, else, don't expect a good grade.
Unrealistic expectations, deducts points for using upper case in the middle of a sentence, doesn't upload material to moodle until she walks into class, gives unnecessary rude opinions and calls it honesty. Doesn't give constructive feedback. Has no scheduled office hours so YOU have to work around HER schedule. Relied on myself. Absolutely useless
Unrealistic expectations. Will sometimes write rude comments on your quizzes/ tests if you are incorrect.
Sherry has a list of words you should not use. This list makes up half of the English Oxford Dictionary.
Sherry is probably one of the most strict professors on the face of the earth. She is very knowledgeable and kind, but has a mean spirit when it comes to grading. If you go to her office hours and ask thoughtful questions she will be lenient to you. Otherwise, let the buyer beware.
Attendance is mandatory if you would like participation marks as well as marks from "evaluations." (basically small quizzes). It is also good to see what you'd expect on her quizzes every week. If you got a B- on your test it could go down to a C+/C due to extremely strict marking on grammar. Textbooks aren't needed but gives a better understanding
Easily the most mean spirited prof I've ever had. She has a list of regular english words that you are for some reason not allowed to use. You will lose significant marks for things that are really not relevant to the class (capitalizing the names of chemical elements, using a semicolon, misspelling a word, so much more..) Unrealistic expectations.
She made me feel like I was too stupid for science. I left that class feeling extremely discouraged. Professors should encourage learning, but she does the exact opposite. Worst prof in history.
Definitely one of those profs that won't let you pass if she doesn't like you. Utilize those office hours if you find yourself in this course, ask insightful questions, and maybe she'll let you squeak through. She will mark you harder if she doesn't like you. All bio profs are strict with wording, but she really takes the cake!
Went to one class and immediately dropped it afterwards. Incredibly hard marker and she will take marks off for spelling errors. Rude and not caring or helpful. Likely you wont pass unless you work incredibly hard and are good at English
Took this class and ABSOLUTELY regretted it. She was very unprofessional and rude. She told me I would never succeed in finishing my degree or pursue a career in a health field. Being in my last year this was extremely hateful , discouraging and upsetting. DONT EVER TAKE HER CLASS, YOU WILL FAIL (unless you have a English Major).
Quizzes are provided too early. She goes through lectures fast. You must use scientific terminology and make sure to pay attention well in class, pop quizzes pop up. Hard class for an intro class. From my experience I think this is the hardest class so far. You really have to work for it every single day.
Quizzes should be provided the same day lectures are taught like pop quizzes short and simple. Nobody has time to study every week there are other classes to study for. There is a quiz every week which makes it even worse. I wish the quizzes were open book, students who take notes will pass. Not enough flexibility like other classes.
