Excellent professor. If you have any accounting ability, you will enjoy her class. Tests are very very similar to the problems worked in class and she gives excellent reviews. Do the work, Get an "A".

Would recommend this teacher to anyone. Pay close attention to Review. Practice all of the homework problem assign for Exams. Multiply choice r somewhat difficult but not problems MUST read the textbook. She want you to pass. And expected you to work. She doesnt grade ur 1 writing paper hard. She is available to help you if you dont know something.

Professor Sherry Young is one of the best Accounting professors I have had. She wants her students to succeed and ensures that she explains the lesson thoroughly. She gives handouts and goes over them to ensure our understanding. I would do all my Accounting classes with her. She also makes herself available for questions.

Don't be fooled with these positive comments about this teacher. SHE IS TOUGH. She does a so-so job at explaining the material in the lectures, it's hard to tell if those notes that you print out have anything to do with the exam. lectures are a waste. you're pretty much left hanging in a course that is hard as hell.

This is a hard class. If you didn't take her for Theory 1, you might struggle a bit for the first exam until you get used to her style. I like her and enjoyed her class. I would definitely take another class with her. Exams are difficult so you definitely have to study VERY HARD in order to pass. Project is easy and she grades fair.

I happen to know that this professor does not write her own reviews as one student suggested. She is very fair and cares about her students. She is completely clear on how you need to succeed in Theory 1 on the first night of class. MANY people usually drop the course, because they aren't willing to put in the time necessary to succeed. If you last, you'll really respect the "no nonsense" teaching style.

If you are serious with your education and sitting for the CPA exam, she is a must. Not only are her lectures excellent and thorough, but the class is structured in a way that prepares you for the rest of your education to succeed. If you are not willing to put in the time to succeed in this class, you will fail no matter who the professor is.

She is an excellent instructor. Her classes are ALWAYS full soon after registration opens. She gives examples and works homework problems in class. This is a no B.S. class, this one requires a great deal of effort on the student's part. I had her for Theory 1 & 2 and I can't think of taking it with anyone else. Be prepared to study!!

Professor Young is the best. She makes sure that you learn the material and ask if anyone has any questions before moving on. Her lecture notes are awesome. Its a difficult course. You must study the lecture notes and homework is so important to prepare you for the exams.

Prof Young has been teaching for a long time and she does it well, but this is NOT a coasting class. YOU HAVE TO DO THE HOMEWORK AND READ THE CHAPTERS IN ORDER TO DO WELL. Mrs. Young was an excellent teacher for Theory 1. Her exams were very tough since she includes some CPA questions in there. However, she would tell us exactly what pages that we needed to review. In addition, she even told us which problems to practice. In order to succeed in this class, you need to dedicate a lot of time to it.

In order to well in this class, you need to study... a lot. Mrs. Young is a very fair and impartial professor. She would give you questions that come from what she told you to review. However, there is a lot of materials to cover prior the exams. You have to dedicate a lot of time to this sort of course.

Excellent! She knows her material and knows her student. She is very intuitive and will adjust the teaching to ensure the majority of student get the material. There are no tricks on her tests. If she says read & study it, do it! If she says practice it, do it! Its a lot of info and difficult info but very doable if you're studious and disciplined.

I took her for both Theory 1 & Theory 2. Both are very hard classes, but she teaches them well. If you complete the practice problems she assigns and study before each test, you should do fine. Tests are based almost entirely on her lecture so make sure you print out her notes. Attend class every night or you'll really struggle to do well.

Online is tough for this class, I regret taking it online but managed to pass. Do not take this with other accounting classes, take it with easier classes and you'll do fine.

The class and material was difficult, but the professor was great. She responded quickly to e-mail. She was very organized. Her guidelines and rules were clear. There is a group project that is not too involved, and she graded it quickly. Some of her exam questions were worded vaguely or tricky where there could be multiple answers.

She is just great! She makes you work hard for your grade but it is worth it. Read the chapter before class. Tests usually me 15-20 hours of studying. Her tests consist of her lectures notes, her hand outs and the book exercises she assigns. She gives great feedback on what will be on the test so just show up for class. She helps if you have q's.

This class was hard, as is the nature of upper level accounting courses. Read the test, listen to the lectures (which are great!), do the homework, and study! There are 3 exams, and 1 final comprehensive exam. Exam 2 hardest. Don't underestimate this class, and avoid taking it with other acctng classes if you can. Take this class with Prof Young!

Took her for theory 1 over the Fall 2017. She is a great teacher. The class itself is quite challenging. Homework is online Test are multiple choice. The test are challenging and tricky. READ THE CHAPTERS, POWERPOINTS. All the concepts questions on the test come from them. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS SHE ASSIGNS and you will be ok Now off to theory 2

Class is moderately difficult, I took fully online course, but she grades fairly and provides as much help as possible. Good professor.

She is one of the nicest teachers you could possibly have. She cares about her students and gives them all of the materials to pass, you just have to use them. You are going to have to study in this class otherwise you will not pass. Homework and LearnSmart all based on Connect (textbook software). She always gives helpful hints for her tests!

Wonderful teacher. Her recorded lectures are extremely helpful. This is a hard course and she does a great job breaking everything down and making it understandable. Very responsive. Up front with what material will be on the test. Be prepared to work the examples from the book, they will help greatly with the material on the tests.

Best professor to have for Theory sequence. She is probably the least difficult professor you can find- but don't get me wrong, class material is not easy. If you want an A in the class you should be 1 week ahead of regular curriculum. read/highlight textbook, review powerpoints, study handouts, and do all assigned Exercises at least 3 times.

Her teaching skills are a gift from God. If you're an accounting major and really want to understand what you're doing as a professional, and planning to do a CPA exam - she's the right choice. DO NOT miss any classes - she gives you so much more in-depth understanding than the book alone, helpful hints, and hold on to her handouts. Amazing prof.

This is one of the best online classes I have taken. Her set up is very clear and easy to follow. There were 3 tests, a few quizzes and HW for every chapter. DO THE HW, especially the ones that are not graded. There was a decent curve at the end. I wish I could have taken her on campus because I feel like she is even better in person.

If you are lazy like me, snap out of it. Accounting is no joke. You want to pass? Change your studying habits. I was on the verge of failing the class but decided to not give up and do the best that I can. Great professor to learn accounting from. READ and do the practice problems.

Took Theory 1 & 2 online with Young. These classes are no joke. Exams are extremely difficult. In Theory 2, she changed the exams so you cannot go back to a question after submitting your answer which makes it even more challenging to manage the limited time you have. Overall she is a good teacher for how difficult the classes are - good luck!

If you take her in class, use her handouts, do all her practices, and pay attention to her helpful hints before exams. Exams are multiple choice and straight forward, and she is very understanding. Took her during Summer, 1000% recommend. Her lectures makes the material more simple to understand, but don't get me wrong accounting is hard and you do have to do the problems she assigns and read the chapter AT LEAST twice. Really wish I took her for Theory 1!!

Intermediate Theory ia one of the hardest classes. YOU NEED TO DO THE WORK. Prof. Young gives you all the materials to succeed but you need to do the work. Read, practice problems, quizzes. Her helpful hints for tests are great. She wants all of her students to do well. But you need to hold yourself accountable. Not test heavy which helps a lot.

I've enjoyed this course - there definitely is a lot of homework and quizzes, but I have noticed that if you do the SmartBook, exercises and problems, and then the quizzes, everything really does stick. The theory sequence is a hard cluster of classes, but she has done her best to break it down to palatable parts and I appreciate it. 10/10.

Sherry Young was very helpful Professor and wants us to pass. The course is very heavy with homework and it made the workload a lot. She gives you the resources on Canvas to pass the exams, but these exams are NOT easy to do well on if you don't study theory (they're like 40-60% theory depending on the exam honestly). Difficult class but helps.

Took for both Theory 1 & 2, and from day 1 she kept going on and on about how difficult these classes were going to be but I never felt pressured. She held our hand and made herself available for anything. Great opportunities for extra credit, cheat sheets, etc. I never had a moment where I felt my back was against the wall. Best professor!

Sherry Young's course was very tough. She gave a lot of opportunity to get extra credit when I took her in Fall 2024. Now that I'm in the Master's program and studying for the FAR section of the CPA exam, I'm remembering so much material from her class that I otherwise wouldn't have if I had a Professor that was too easy. You'll thank her later!
