Very knowledgeable. She grades on a strict point system and requires a lot of extra credit to make an “A”. Students must read 2 novels and write a 5-7 page paper & read the 4/5 assigned chapters. If you are looking for an easy "A", NO! All assignments & test are on-line with no class on test day!

Easy "A". Lots of work but it is open book untimed quizes. The test have some of the questions from your quiz. Lots of easy extra credit. I didn't do the 5-7 page paper and still made an "A" She is very understanding.

she likes to talk about herself with a lots of humor, however, only one or two lectures she actually talked about history. Agree with everybody above but if you really want to learn something besides funny and odd facts in history, consider to get another teacher.

Dr. Ballard is awesome! She is one of the most helpful and understanding professors I have ever met. Her work is not easy and she expects alot, but not more than she knows you are capable of giving. I wish all prof's were more like her.

She is super easy all you need to do to make and A is your work and the extra credit she gives. Test and quizzes are online. Not a stickler for attendance! I totally recommend her. She gets an A+. You do have a paper but like pp said you get tons of extra credit. If you don't pass this class you didn't try.

Just finished taking Hist 1302, also took her for Hist 1301 last semester- got A's in both. It is a lot of work, but everything is open at the beginning of the semester, which lets you work ahead if you want. Tons of Xtra credit things to do for 10 or 30 points. One 5page due- nothing to stress over.

So much work! It is a little tedious, you have to pace yourself. Have to do the work for an A but is extremely do-able. She is so sweet and is willing to work with you. She always responds to e-mails and is very helpful.

Amazing professor, very helpful and answers every email you send her. Yes, there are alot of assignments, but the writings are OPINION papers. Anyone can write 5 pages of their opinions. I took the class online and completed with a B, but as long as you stay on top of your due dates you can get an A easily.

She is an awesome professor, i took her for SUMMER MINI MESTER 09', a lot of work, yes. But gives you ample of time to finish it. 5 page essay, quiz per chapter, 3 exams, 10 perspectives, and 3 mandatory discussions. I got a B+ in the class, i could of made an A if my paper wasn't late which causes 40 mandatory points to go off. AWESOME PROF!!

This professor is too tidious. You write and write and write.Im serious.She gives you writeups as if you are doing a bachelors in History.You spend several hours tryin to look for answers in the BIG textbook she ask you to buy. I dont like her and i will not take her again.If i get below an A,i will retake 1301 with another instructor like Fry.

There is a ton of writing, but no exams. She grades pretty easy and you can resubmit quiz essays for a better grade. There are way more points offered than needed to make an A. Essentially she sets you up with 200 bonus points. She was slow to grade but a ton of ppl plagiarized in my class & she had to submit all papers to a plagiarism checker site

Took her online over 8 weeks. Numerous writing assignments but were opinion-based. Many of the questions in the quizzes were used on the exams. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and put forth a little effort and you should get an A or B. I wish all of my professors/ instructors were so easy to deal with. Highly recommended!

I took online class in Jan. 2010. Numerous assignments, quizzes and lots of reading. Although if you did bad in quizzes, you'll have a 2nd chance to bring it up. Prof. did keep us busy. Basically, I worked hard and passed with a "B".

2010 Winter mini session: 3 exams, 5-pg opinion paper on a book, 4 online discussions, and easy assignments to earn up to 2 pts extra credit. There are a lot of reading, 4-6 chapters/wk, all questions are from the book. I ended up getting a 'B' b/c she gave me an 83 on my essay and told me it was one of the highest grade in the class too -__-

Summer 2010 5 wks online course: There is A LOT of work involved but if you do everything and do well on the exams (questions are straight from the book) then you CAN get an A! I procrastinated on one assignment and the deadline passed but I emailed her about it and she was very lenient to have me send it to her anyways. (:

Ms.Ballard-Smith is a good teacher. She is very understanding, gives extra credit; allow extra time on submissions and very polite and teacher/student friendly. She will work with you any issue you have with the class. You can make a B or better in her class. Just show up, pay attention and get clarity on the assignments if your not sure. Enjoy!

Great teacher a lot of writing 5 page book report do, the work your grade depends on your performance. Currently taking her 2011 summer 1 class. I've actually learned a lot about history. I will be back to let you know the out come.

Teacher is very helpful. She answers all questions in a timely manner and her syllabus is very clear. 3 tests, 1 major paper, 3 essays, and lots of easy extra credit. Definitely recommend. Tests are given over 5 chapters at a time, and the third exam is the final. 100% online.

Below comments, I totally disagree. I took HIST 1301 short mini course made a ?B? and 1302 made an ?A? for the regular term course. Mini course there would be a lot of work she must cover 16 wks of schoolwork into that short course. She has online & in person classes she response to emails in a timely matter. Keep in mind, she have other classes.

I HATE HISTORY but i did okay in the class. the due dates were all online at the beginnig and the essays could be done early. Ms ballard was nice and answered emails in a day or 2. all tests are from the book then there are essays, a paper and discussions. Make sure you follow the write lots of review in your paper

Prof. B organizes the online courses well. I took 1301 and 1302 in 8-week courses. There is a lot of reading and remembering. However, the test reviews are extremely helpful. She allows unlimited attempts which helps enormously to practice. Extra credit is earned through attending movie nights/history club meetings. Some writing is required.

4 tests with 1pg essay, 1-5pg ppr, 4 forum posts. She's an easy grader & responds quickly. I turned 5pg in to tutor after I submitted to her & tutor tore it up with comments. She gave me 99. I took online for summer shortented term & got an easy A.

I would recommend taking her online class to anyone! She is very quick to respond to any questions and always willing to help if there is something you do not understand. Her online class is very easy to navigate. The only thing I wish is that I could have the opportunity to take the tests sooner, as they are already scheduled to a post date.

I love this teacher, its a really easy class to pass. I took the online 8 week course and I had no problems with it. It's very easy and simple the assignments are not difficult at all. I highly recommend her, you just have to keep track of the assignments so you will not miss any.

She was pretty easy as long as you did the work you'll do great. There's a lot of reading in her class, and she gives a practice quiz you can take before the test which contain some of the answers that will be on the test. I took the quiz over and over until there were no more new questions and remembered most of the answers. Also a lot of writing

Took Ms. Ballard Fall 2016 for History 1302 Hybrid Course. We had short paragraphs every week on lectures in class or online. We had one 5 page essay double spaced book of your choice. We did no use the book at all ) and we had 2 test. She is a really good teacher and you cant fail her class unless you don't do you work -_-.

Caring lady and the class is very straight-forward. Do your work online and listen to the lectures. Simple class set up, but effective. As long as you dont slack off you should get an A

Taking this class as an 8 week course. Pretty easy. Use of textbook is debatable since you can technically find the same info online. Very critical about grammar, but the assignments are easy. Quizzes and Exams are timed. Reviews are available for exams. Lots of reading. Few chances for extra credit. Major essay allowed late submission.

First off, disregard the negative comments, I loved her online course, I learned a lot and yes it is a lot of work, but very interesting. If you put in the work you will ace the class I do not regret taking her class I loved it. i would take her again. what ever effort you put in the work, you will get that grade. You can work ahead . I loved her.

I took her class for Spring 2019 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and this a type of professor we should have in all community colleges and universities. She gives extra points and gives you feedback in all essays that you submitted it. Professor Ballard also accepts late work w/o penalty. I highly recommend her! C.M :)

Took Mrs. Ballard for 1301 and will be taking her for 1302. She is very understanding when situations arise and will work with you as long as you try. I made a B with minimal effort. Definitely could have made an A with a little more work on my part. Assignments are pretty easy except for a 5 page book report due towards end of semester.
