She is an outstanding teacher! :)
Mrs. Lumbley goes to fast; she assumes that you already have some previos knowledge in this subject. If you have taken her more than once; she will then accuse you of cheating. She has a high drop rate.
very good teacher, has her lab allways open for you to come back after class for help.If you read your book and study, this is a easy lab.Only multiplechoice , no fill in the blanks.
She is awesome
Awesome professor! Makes everything understandable and will work with you to make sure you understand everything in the class.
Very helpful. I took her for Anatomy I and II. She was a little more helpful during the first half, and a little bit nicer, but overall, she's a good prof and she will do her best to help you if you actually try.
She is very hard! There's a lot of material to cover and the tests are extremely difficult! They are from the book, but the questions are worded in such a way that if you don't understand the text, you won't get the answer right. VERY, VERY difficult class!!!
PROFESSOR LUMBLEY IS ONE PERSON I WILL NEVER FORGET. SHE INCREASED MY INTEREST AT LEARNING CONSIDERABLY.SHE HAS A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF STUDENTS, AND SHE HELPS THEM CARRY ON. I ADMIRE HER TEACHING STYLE.
I like prof. Lumbley a lot. She has a great personality. I just wish she would slow down a little during lab. A lots of people in the class are lost during lab and the way she formulates the questions during tests is a bit confusing to the student. We could do so much better if she formulate the question in a easier than the way she does it now. Bu
i took her for 1407, she was helpful. now in 1408 not so much. u have to do it all on your own. she answers half of your questions. however she will try to help you pass. i made a B last semester. good news is she allows you to average out final exam and take highest score. "as long as you get it by the end, why should you fail"-lumbley :)
so glad semester is over, finished w a B, was a hard earned B, she allows final grade to average so if your not understanding thrghout semester you can still pass. not easy but do-able! i enjoyed her both 1407/08. due to weather we missed a few days so she sped thrgh our work, MUST READ URSELF i recommend her if ur self motivated, good luck :)
Professor Lumbley holds extra study groups outside of class. She is always ready to answer any questions and office is always open whenever she is not doing anything else. She is a nice person and she knows what she is talking about. The only thing is, the subject IS hard but if you ask questions and ask for help she will give it.
Mrs Lumbley is a wonderful teacher. She is always ready to help the students understand the material. And she knows what she's talking about. If you want to learn about A.P take her. You'll be amazed!AP is very difficult but as long as you read the book before you come to class and ask questions you'll be fine.Took her for both AP 1 2 and made A's.
Mrs. Lumbley is an amazing teacher! She turned the challenging subject of A&P into something that could be easily grasped and understood. Read the book before you come to class and study with friends afterwards, and you should be able to make an A!
She is very hard, will not answer questions, and talks very fast where a person can not follow her. Even if you read the chapter and still had a question-your out of luck for her to answer it. She LOVES to talk about her family way too much!
Great Teacher
Great Professor overall, she really knows her stuff! If you are willing to take her, you have to be prepared to study your buts off. A lot of students that started class with me dropped by the end of the semester; so this should tell you, if you are looking for an easy A, take someone else. But if you are willing to learn, Take Lumbley!
Lumbley's class was very hard. She's not a clear professor at all. You NEED the lecture book she has assigned or else you will fail all Lecture exams. The only good thing about her class is that she gives you other assignments. She has no sympathy at all.
I took professor Lumbley for a microbiology class, in short it took hard work to complete, but she was there to help every step of the way.
She lectures good, but has no empathy.
OMG, this class was so stressful. I would never take another course with this instructor. She made this class so much harder than it had to be. She has no sympathy at all. She does not care at all if you don't understand the information. She would talk extremly fast, and always talked about her family. I didn't learn anything. I don't recommend her
This course is very tough. Read the book before you take this course. She expects you to know some of the material on occasions. If you are really trying to pass, let Luis, the SI instructor be your bestfriend because he knows what he's talking about. Be prepared to STUDY all day everyday. Very stressful and a lot of pressure. Wouldn't recommend!!
She was only my lab teacher. We had a different lect. teacher. When i would ask her a question, she would reply back with a question, smirk, then literally walk away. Outside of class, she was nice and easy to talk to. Other than that, she was of little to no help. Basically said two instructions and class was left to figure everything else out.
Depending on much you study will determine your grade. You have to put in a lot of time to study, you can be lazy in this class or you will fail. If you don't attend the labs you will fail. This class grade is only based on test grades, you don't turn in labs or paperwork. She does give you an extra credit project, and you get bonus points on the test.
awesome professor I would recommend her to anyone. Cedric McGee. RN
RUN! Her test are worded in difficulty. Sometimes, what is told that will be on the test is usually NOT. You are on your own for learning the material. Plus, you should never tell students to drop your class if their performance is not up to par. Helloooo! Compassion goes a long way! along with encouragement. One extra credit assignment is given.
Study groups are very important to passing this class. Quizzes can help your grade . On exams short answers is where most of the points come from so write a lot . Remember all the multiple choice answers because you will see them again on the final.
Great lecturer, hard grader and very detailed. This class was a challenge, but if you study enough you can get out with a fair grade. Depended on other classmates heavily for information and we were confused way too often
Great lecture but she was a tough grader that was very detail-oriented. Team work is a MUST if you want a decent grade. Put forth the effort and you'll get the grade you want.
This class is so hard. I feel lost every second! Professor is not caring. quizzes and tests almost everyday! a lot of writing. Don't do it.
Difficult class. Many small tedious assignments that can trip you up and split your focus on important information. No make up tests, or quizzes. You need special talents to pull off an A, or a B in this class. Its possible, but your effort level needs to be at 150%. I studied about 1-4 hours every week day and managed a C. Need a study group too.
This class comes at you fast- its intense- so you must be prepared. I made an A though- so its possible. I actually enjoyed her as a teacher- she was interactive and interesting. She isnt going to baby you though and give you multiple chances. I honestly feel like I learned so much in her class, and I see the world a little differently now.
She was a really good teacher, but she wouldn't really explain much. Everything was PowerPoint based and she gives you the reviews but most of the time nothing that was on the review was on the test.
Took her for 2nd 8 weeks flex class, and this is the hardest class I've ever taken. She is strict with not missing work and you better study EVERY day, because skimming the powerpoints will not cut it. She is really great though, she explains everything thoroughly and adds lots of fun facts. She is actually kinda funny- just really intense.
She knows the subject very well, but does not have the qualities of a good teacher
Shes very smart very talented and respected, but she doesnt have the qualities to be a college professor. Maybe a high school teacher. I feel like she sets you up for failure... the way her class and test are... shes really nice but i wouldnt take her again...
She is a really nice lady but all she does is read the powerpoints and adds little side notes. Does not give you reviews. Does not explain projects to you unless you ask. I think she should work in a lab not as a professor. She had great stories though not helpful on tests and assignments. Thank Heavens for my classmates.
You need to study A LOT, but she gives you extra points on tests the more information you give. For anatomy and microbiology.
Love Lumbley! She knows what she's talking about and is always available after labs for additional help. She provides opportunities for bonus points! I wish I could take her courses again! Do NOT miss lab and DO study what she suggests! I would recommend her without hesitation!
She has handled this COVID epidemic so poorly its not even funny. Her lectures videos are pretty much useless and not indicative of tests. She has had unrealistic lab expectations and doesn't explain any assignment or procedures associated thoroughly. She has failed to make any smooth transition to an online course platform.
She acts like she's a professor at Ivy League Schools. News flash this is a community college. Have reasonable standards and expectations. Honestly believe a rock could do better than her.
I heard Prof. Lumbley was a great teacher until now. The material on the tests were completely different compared to study guides. She expects students to memorize 30+ slides and textbook information by heart. I honestly didnt learn anything from this course. She is a very picky grader and finds little things to take off points. Needs improvement!
I heard she was a great teacher. She expects a lot out of you. A lot of homework, and lab homework. Takes points off for everything even if it correct( not up to her standards). Not sure if she is better professor in an actual classroom vs online.
DOOOOOON'T TAKE HER. UNLESS YOU WANT STRESS AND LOW GRADES!!!!!!!!!
So grateful I ended up in her class! Lectures teach you exactly what you need to know, of course you still need to do online homework to really grasp it. She hints at what will be on tests. Final exam is comprised of exactly what was tested before. No guess work. Labs are intense but she is so patient and will explain it on a middle school level.
The worst online class experience. She expects you to memorize everything with little time and so many assignments. Not willing to accommodated to her students needs. Exams are spaced out so poorly. Caused me so much anxiety and stress. If you don't live and breath this class and do nothing else at all, you won't learn or make a decent grade.
took this class as an 8 week course and it was so bad. she did not want to accommodate to her students even when issues were brought up. she knew how difficult the course was and still was not able to do anything for us. would not recommend taking this as an 8 week course with her!!!
Due to volume of material, feels like you're perpetually behind. Lots of homework and difficult tests but necessary if going into healthcare. Be prepared to answer questions during class! Up to 192 extra points up for grabs (14.7% overall grade). Do the extra work! Knows her stuff and willing to work with you through the learning process.
Just please do yourself a favor and do not take her. She is well informed and knows a lot about the material, but does not know how to teach it. She expects you to know everything without telling you anything!!! There was a quiz due before every class session and her coursework was so disorganized.
Don't advise taking her class. Prepare for course concepts being anywhere from 100 to 500 questions that's considered homework. If it's not written her way a zero is given and any chance to redeem points is even harder. Proctored exams. Talks over the given time. Don't take her class if science that interesting to you.
she loves essay questions. You have to listen to the lectures to even have any idea of what MIGHT be on the test - Lectures tend to be long (up to 83 minutes and that was part 2 of 3). Labs are great and she is a nice person but she is tough. Do not take her unless this is your only class because it takes that much work just to pass
She honestly wants students to do well. She gives you every chance to know the material, and she makes you know.
This class was SO hard. don't take this class with another or work FULL time. you might be able to pass, you have to dedicate time for this class. modules almost every week, she is very smart but i feel she forgets that she is teaching student that don't have a major in microbiology like her.
this class is HARDDDDD. do not take it if you have many other classes or a job. She is a nice person tbh, her lectures are very long but fun. The class is incredibly difficult but it is graded using points and there is many opportunities to earn extra points.
Please, try to find another professor for this class. Doesnt follow course calendar. exams have 7-10 essay questions on them. she has 5 discussion boards for each chapter which is the essay questions for the exam, they only count for one point & you'll be doing a total 20 DBs and she only use 7 on the exam. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER TEACHER.
You need to be able to memorize a lot of work for her tests there are 7 essay questions on each timed Respondus test. I find it impossible to do those. No extra credit to help your grade. Very tough at grading for 1 point assignments. More like a class for microbiology majors not nonscience major. Very stressful class.
best bet is to look for another professor.
She hasn't graded things that were due a month ago. The discussion boards were only one point. The papers we had to write were only 10-25 points besides the final lab paper. We had to memorize 15 discussion boards and what we put because she used random ones for the exam. The lab handouts for the lab exams didn't help.
She is honestly a great professor. There is alot of material to cover for this class and alot of assignments to do but that is the way you'll be able to actually learn everything needed for this course. Its a heavy class put she'll help you get through it. In the lecture exams there is opportunity to get bonus points and that can really carry you.
Hard class! But she is a great professor and you will learn a lot if you put the time and effort. For exams study the discussion boards they can take you from a 70 to a 100
In semester 3/4 of nursing school & tomorrow I am interviewing for my first research assisting job. I just wanted to take the time to recognize Prof. Lumbley for initially peeking this interest in me by being such an amazing microbiology professor. If you love to learn & have the opportunity to take one of her classes, I would highly recommend it!
awful professor , hard test grader , study guides don't match up to test, gives you a lot of stress , essay questions, get ready to ready a lot . dont take this course with her
She is a good professor. A lot of what she teaches will come straight from the powerpoint. Go to her tutoring!! It helps significantly. What she says in her tutoring will reflect on the test and lab exams. To pass just do the work /homework. Not too hard but does require effort.
She is an amazing person and teacher. She is there to help and not hurt. I would take this class a million times. It is a hard class but the biology class is easy. The class is so worth it, she makes you understand what you are learning. She also has frequent tutoring sessions. I love her class!
Prof. Lumbley is very understanding, helpful, and responds quickly. I am taking her BIOL-2420 summer class and she is amazing. Gives plenty of opportunity to pass exams, lab practicals are very straight forward, and she offers extra credit in the case that you miss an assignment that is due. Would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Awful. Please find yourself another teacher. Nice lady but she cannot teach, her class is disorganized. Get ready to learn everything by yourself. PLEASE FIND YOURSELF ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
DO NOT TAKE!! She will tell you one thing at the beginning of the semester than not own up to her word in the end. What I mean by that is that she will have due dates assigned wrongly and not change them, which will cause you to have zeros, not award the extra credit she offered, and grade all the assignments at the END of the semester!
I wouldn't suggest this professor to anyone. She doesn't care about the workload or how heavy it is, she shows not mercy. She told us on the 1st day most of us wouldn't make it. Then told a girl while smiling that she was going to drop then later gave her a zero on an exam. She gets off topic often then will try and rush. Try ANYONE ELSE!
Her homework isn't a lot just make sure to use your time wisely. DON'T DO HOMEWORK IN CLASS, you'll be very confuse in what your doing and won't finish your lab. STUDY she does pop quiz and Unit exams so be prepared. She's very nice and does give you good feedback at the end of class if she sees you struggling and does offer tutoring. : )
Lectures are online and labs are in person. Lecture assignments take a long time to finish but they are doable. You need good study habits. If you need more help outside of labs you can always go to her office hours. The lab practicals were straight forward so if you studied you'll do fine. Great professor, you can tell she's passionate about this.
This lady is so rude and has such a huge ego with lots of attitude. Her class is bearable. She once told my lab partner "you don't know how to count?" but she says it in a fake nice tone so that it doesn't come across 'mean' when it literally is. The online work is okay and labs aren't too bad she's just overall not the greatest nor understanding.
Professor lumbley was amazing! This class is not easy but she was very caring and the fact that she was a microbiologist make s her teaching even better. I learned a lot from this class. If you're looking for an easy course this is not for you. If you do not want to study your butt off this is not the class for you. Hard work = passing grade
She's an amazing professor, her lecture are on point and does have PowerPoints so you can go back and study your exams. The class is difficult and you HAVE TO STUDY in order to have a good grade. Although I don't have the best grade in her class I'd still go back and take her class to change my habits. But overall she is a passionate teacher.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME TEACHERR
FIND ANOTHER! If I'm being honest she doesn't care if you pass or fail. She doesn't break it down to you if your lost either.
This class was HARD! But, she provided everything you need to know, all the material is provided. You have to STUDY! No way around it.
This professor is AMAZING. She makes your hard work very rewarding and she provides everything for you on a silver platter. She is very organized with tests and semester schedule. She's a microbiologist research professor from UTA! Ask her questions! Enthusiastic! Lots of work, but for good reason. Don't slack off on due dates. Would take again!
THIS IS A WARNING: if you don't study, don't have in person lectures, or have poor time management, PASSING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. Half my class dropped and the other half that remained, all failed. Please take another professor if possible or prepare to work hard. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to NOT take more than 1 other class if you enroll in her course.
Do NOT take this professor if you do not study or have an idea of the material well, she does not explain it but she tells you to revert to the videos that she puts in the ecampus. The material is a lot to retain and learn; although I went to tutoring, it clearly was not enough. Also, Do not expect any curves or boosts because it will not be given.
Under NO circumstances should you take this class if itsthelast class; wait for another semester. DONOT take this professor if you do not study/ understand the material. DONOT take this class if you have a lot on your plate/ taking multiple classes. She does not explain/ care if you pass; her videos date from preCOVID, meaning the websites are old.
This should have been my last class and because I failed I have to retake! Her projects are difficult as the exams, you can study the chapter and the exams could be about something different. I did tutoring and that didn't even help pass her class. Also on her projects if you miss one thing she will automatically give you a zero.
