Notes are online, quizzes follow notes, tons of opps for extra credit. What else do you want??
SHE TALKS ABOUT SURVIOR ALL DAY, EVERY UNCLEAR EVERY WEEK SHE ASK U TO PRINT OUT 45 PAGES OF NOTES ON UB LEARNS AND NOT ONE QUESTIONS ON THE NOTES IS ON THE QUIZ NOR TEST.
You don't even have to go to class to ace this one

which class was you in again? Gabriel was by far the worst psychology teacher I ever had. Hawk is better
she is the best psy teacher
She is a very enthusiastic teacher!
TAKE THE CLASS WITH HER! She's friendly, teaches very clearly, and makes it really interesting.
Great teacher, very enthusiastic about the subject. No final, just 5 quizzes (one is dropped, too!). Quizzes are very fair, and the material is presented in a fun and informative way.
She is a vergy good teacher and you just take quizes in class, drop the lowest. attendance not mandatory but she gives extra credit once in a while if you do. you don't need the book just the notes from online. for the quizzs (exams-like btw) undersand the notes very well, quzes are easy but tricky.
She is the best!! If you are taking psy 101...make sure u have her!! All we have is 5 quizzes and lowest one is dropped. NO FINAL!! You don't need the book! Everything is in the notes! MAKES CLASS VERY FUN!
A somewhat fun and interesting professor. I don't really care about her fav TV show or her cats though.
Great teacher, her lectures are interesting at time but shes and easy teacher just go to class and take notes and youll ace the class
She's a great teacher, very interesting.
Very straightforward and funny, seems to enjoy teaching the subject. I didn't care for her exam questions, I couldn't break higher than a B, but some people do exceptionally well (probably because I dislike psychology). Always answers questions, gives extra credit, very personable and friendly.
Very interesting to listen to and great if you really want to learn the material. Attending class a must!
loves to give extra credit to those who show up in lecture first thing in the morning. in one instance, it pulled my next test grade up a whole letter.
She's a very interesting, fun professor. She makes most of the concepts very easy to understand with great examples. Just study for quizzes straight from your notes, and you'll do fine.
I found her very easy to understand and she made it fun to listen to her lectures. Her exams are very easy, and come right from the notes as well as some things from her lecture. If you attend the lectures, and read the notes, you are guaranteed an A in the class.
This class was pretty easy and very interesting.. Dr. Gabriel knows how to keep a class's attention and makes lots of pop culture references. 5 quizzes, lowest one is dropped, opportunities for extra credit, and you do NOT need to buy the textbook.. questions come STRAIGHT from the notes.
amazing teacher, great energy and enthusiasm
Easy and fun class. First morning class i acctually went to.
great teacher, very nice. gives very clear notes, goes kinda fast though. don't buy textbook. go to psych experiments, you get extra credit just to fill out stupid forms.
When i actually get up and go to my 8am class, I enjoy it every time. Last class we got 2 bonus points added to our next quiz because she didn't even want to be there :) How cool is that?!?!?
I absolutely love her class. She's really personable, don't be afraid to sit up in the front row. Make sure you keep up on studying, set some time aside every week. Overall, well worth getting up for in the morning, it's a course that I actually look forward to!
Gabriel is awesome. She is so nice and funny, and the class is real easy if you go to lecture. Do not buy the book, all of her tests are straight from the notes.
good teacher she is interesting and shows clips to demonstrate terms and conditions. you do not need to buy a book for her class it is 100 percent on lectures, dont skip class and dont let your cell phone ring!
Gabriel is very good teacher. she always gives out extra credit and is so interesting, not boring at all. the quizes aren't bad, as long as you study for them they are fine, there aren't any tricks to the quizes.
very interesting class yet tests are harder then i thought like really tough and even though gives out extra credit its not worth all that much but a interesting class
She is very entertaining, and if you can wake up early for her classes (because they are usually offered in the AM) she is definitely worth getting. She gives 5 quizes and drops the lowest- and no midterm or final. Quizes are straight from her notes (which she posts online), don't need the book to do well.
Good teacher, makes info. interesting and fun, tests right out of notes...lots of extra credit
She always made lectures enjoyable; made me want to come to class. Don't bother taking notes or reading the book. She gives you printed notes from her slides and exam questions come directly from those. Go to every class because she gives a TON of extra credit. 4 multi-choice exams that she calls "quizes". No final. Gives tons of extra credit.
this class was soo easy and enjoyable.I would take her class over again if i had the time. lol. Just go to her lectures and you'll do fine, you dont even have to really read the text.
great teacher, and amazing class. Very easy way to get rid of a requirment. She makes class fun and enjoyable, and also very interesting. She's incredibly sweet and you can see her passion for psychology and teaching. Tests were easy if you went to class and took notes, reading isn't that necessary. Extra credit opportunities as well.
gives great examples that you do truly remember
Very good teacher. Gives you outline of the notes for an easy study guide, and exams are very fair!!
You have to print out notes online and just add small bits to them in class. Pretty easy but you have to study to do really well. Tests are fair and make sure you study
I love her. She makes the class so interesting. She has 5 exams and drops the one with the lowest grade. She gives a good amount of extra credit. If you go to her lectures, she makes it really interesting and you'll probably get an A in the class.
She is an AWESOME professor. Shes really funny and very interesting. Ive got above a 95 on every exam so far with about an hour of studying for each- easy A plus its so much fun. and trust me iam not the brightest kid....take it with her!!
She rocks. Extra credit just for going to class, she's funny in lecture. Some material gets boring, but she knows that, so she really tries to keep you awake. Tests are straight from the notes you can print up before class. Easy way to earn 3 credits.
She is definately my favorite professor this semester. She really made class interesting, and makes everyone laugh. Her first class or two she acts mean to get people to take her seriously, but don't worry. She gets awesome very quickly. If you are taking psy101, take her! The tests are VERY fair, and there is no reason to do poorly on them.
I heard she is up for tenure? Well make sure to keep her. She is the best. She makes class enjoyable and yet difficult enough to make you work for your grade. Please dont let her go ever!
She crammed way too much information into each test and made the notes so ambiguous that it was almost impossible to know what to memorize for the test. Very difficult class for such an easy subject. Lectures were fairly interesting but tests were near impossible.
Tests killed me, but if you go to class, you should be able to do well. She's a good teacher.
You're responsible for how well you do in her class.
Way too much information in each test. The notes covered such a broad range of topics that I never had any idea what would be on the tests and what wouldn't. I could have spent hours studying and still missed several little facts that happened to come up on the test. I would recommend going elsewhere for a psych 101 class.
She is the best teacher I've ever had, you would have to be an idiot not to pass this class. She gives you lecture notes to print out, and as long as you take notes on them during her lectures, everything that's on her tests is covered in class. She even gives you bonus points for coming to class and doing surveys sometimes.
She is awesome for this class, the class is great and intersting if you dont mind reading 4 short books and discussing them. There is also a final project that is not hard because you work in a group. I actually wanted to come to her class and she is great, funny and knows what shes talking about! Take her for psy479!
Decent class but be prepared to do things you never had to do before. It's a lot of reading but if you keep up with the reading you will do just fine. Big group project that lasts the entire semester can determine your grade.
Dr. Gabriel is funny, she makes jokes during the lecture. i loved how she used her family, esp her daughter as examples to explain her point. she's adorable!! i want her back (she's having a baby) i think a professor like her is much needed in this university~
Extremely funny and relates examples to college students everyday life. Its not her fault the subject sucks, she does a great job with what she has to work with. Def one of my favorite teachers. If anyone can keep you awake for a 8 am class its her.
Excellent Teacher! Knows what she's talking about. Sometimes give extra credit for attending class. very very funny. about 28 mult choice questions on test. 5 tests, drops lowest grade. questions mostly what she says and doesnt write down in lecture so as long as u pay attention youll be fine
THE BEST!!!!!! Extremely funny and makes lectures interesting, definitely an easy A with out a doubt. The onlw downfall is there is too much info to know for the test that is only 28 questions. Study every little fact and copy down everything she says because some things she says are not in the packet and will be on the test.
This lady is awesome. All you do is print off her notes and come to class (No book). If you to class there on time she will give you extra credit just for being there. The examples she gives makes the material easy to understand and she makes it very easy to get an A. She is very amusing and has a good relationship with her students.
She was ok she fails A LOT of students though
Awesome professor, and easy class but DON'T BUY THE BOOK. you don't use it AT ALL, and you can't sell it back
By far the worst professor I had at UB. Doesn't give much feedback. I found her class to be boring and almost painful to attend at times. She seemed to make up rules and change the syllabus as she went along, and she talked way too much about her personal life during what should have been intelligent classroom discussions. Avoid her if you can.
Pretty easy. Interesting course. Exams are all multiple choice.
Good professor lecture never boring. Very entertaining and nice. I personally thought tests were very hard, only 28 multiple choice, and I'm a good student. She gives good notes but they were hard for me for some reason. Others did better others did worse. Would take her again. She also gives 5 exams and drops the lowest one. EC for attendance.
Attendance is not Mandatory but all of her tests are based on lectures so i suggest you go. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, you don't use it at all. Study her notes for the tests. she gives extra Credit for attendance. 5 test all 28 MC question really easy and you drop your lowest one. One of the best professors here at UB
Attendance not mandatory but lecture is very helpful. Notes are posted online but not very clear unless you go to class. Extra credit for attendance once in a while. Tests are all multiple choice. Lowest one dropped.
The class was interesting and the lectures were entertaining and helped if you actually went. It is just alot of information that you cover in a short amount of time. exams are usually 28 questions multiple choice.
Very entertaining and manages to keep the attention of large classes. Tests are MC only and the notes are included with text purchase. Attendance isn't mandatory but some questions are talked about in lecture only.
She's really funny & I enjoyed her class. She has a customized textbook which includes her lecture notes. Not mandatory attendance but really helpful if you go. her tests are straight from her notes. usually 28 questions all multiple choice. She can definitely keep your attention. Not a hard class.
I love her. She is really funny and you learn a lot from her. Go to lectures because she gives out extra credit sometimes. She's really interesting but her exams might seem a little challenging. If you study your notes you should do fine. Don't even bother reading the "textbook" part of your notes, its pointless.
This class is one of the easier psychology classes. Go to all the lectures because it does two things: give you a condensed amount of information that she explains very clearly and well, and also gives you extra credit from time to time. Of course, it requires a good amount of studying but her tests are very do-able. DON'T buy the textbook.
I LOVE HER, she is so funny and makes the material really interesting, even though it already was intersting! DEFINITELY take her. study the night before the exam for a few hours and you'll be fine! questions on the 28-question exam can be tricky.
Very interesting seminar format class. Learned heaps and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can't possibly do badly for this class, but getting that A will require that extra effort
She was a good professor. It's a hard A but an EASY B. I just could not grab the few extra points to get that A. She makes you be a test subject for 11-12 hours to get credit which is annoying. The tests aren't hard but they're not easy either. Overall she's a good professor. Take her if you'd like.
I like her, but I felt like she made a 101 class unnecessarily hard. It should not be THAT hard to get an A, and going to 11-12 hours of experiments gets old, quick.
I absolutely loved that class and loved her. I am no psych major but she made me love her class. She explained everything very clearly with depth and examples to make sure you understand. There are five 28 question exams, drops the lowest grade and there is no final. She is hilarious and I consider myself lucky to of had her for a gen ed class.
She's a great professor. Her note outlines are from the textbook which is really helpful and she explains all the topics well. Exam questions are pretty specific, but if you pay attention and go to class, you will do GREAT. Just take good notes, and STUDY! Also, the extra credit experiments are helpful.
Favorite professor this year. She takes a dry subject and makes it rememberable and amusing. Often works little anecdotal stories into lecture and it really helps with retention. Tests are extremely specific and detail focused. Sadly you really have to know your stuff. No curve, drops lowest, sometimes gives XC for attendance.
You want to attend all the lectures!! What she says in lecture is on the test. You don't need to buy the textbook but you want the note packet in the textbook. Be sure to take good notes. Overall Gabriel makes the class was very interesting with her humorous stories and references. A very straight forward class. Finish the experiments early!!!
Very easy A if you attend every lecture (fill in notes) and actually study. She's a very nice and intelligent lady, and gives a few points of extra credit for attendance. She's silly and makes the whole lecture class laugh.
Best Psychology teacher ever. She is frickin' hilarious. The class really isn't that hard and the notes are straight forward. Tests elaborate and make sure you know every iota of the material but it isn't that hard if you study PROGRESSIVELY. Also I would recommend bringing a laptop to class to record. She is also pretty hot.
Gabriel was my favorite professor! She is so funny and made psych so interesting, I almost changed my major because of her. She is very straightforward and class is nonstop writing of what she says but if you know everything on the notes pages you should be fine. In the beginning I was nervous but you get used to her tests. I got an A.
She is funny and keeps you awake during class. Class is also interesting. There are five exams, no final and the lowest exams get dropped. She makes you buy the textbook but, it is cheaper to buy the online version. She has her own notes in the textbook and all you need to do is study those notes. DO ALL HOURS OF EXPS! PLUS THE EXTRA CREDITS!
I wasn't a huge fan of Dr. Gabriel. While she was very funny and a very understanding professor, I never really learned much from her. I found her lessons to be mostly boring and I just had trouble retaining any information from the lectures. May be a good option if Hawk is full. Do psych experiments asap!
Dr. Gabriel is literally perfection. Her lecture notes that come in the text book are extremely helpful & she provides examples of everything in the notes during lecture. She's SO nice and usually gets the whole lecture laughing. Highly suggest taking her. Tests are specific and detail oriented but study the lecture notes you you'll get an A!
Her lectures are extremely interesting. All the exams are based of her lecture so there's no need for you to read the textbook unless you don't go to class. But some of the answers are not even in the textbook so just go to class. She is a very interesting professor and won't make you want to sleep. Take her class you won't regret it.
Gabriel was a good professor. Her exams were based on her notes which came with the textbook. She was quite funny and seemed to be really into psychology. I'm not sure that psych 101 is her favorite class to teach, but she does a good job with it none the less.
I loved everything about this class. She is so awesome and keeps the class lively. I wish she could teach all my psych classes, lol. She's really good at integrating her lectures into real life scenarios, my favorite being her tales of the days when she lived in Chicago. Pay close attention though! Her exams are based off her lectures/notes.
Her classes are funny and mandatory as her tests ask questions like "In the lecture what did I say was... " 5 tests, one on each unit, not cumulative, she drops the lowest test. She also gives extra credit which can bump you up from a B to a B+ and so on. Great teacher, fun class, makes it easy to remember, pay attention to, and relate. Loved her.
Her class is fun and interesting although she teaches pretty fast it is up to you to catch up. Her exams her fair and as long as you attend class, you'll do just fine. I would also suggest extra studying before each exam (study EVERY page of notes).
Her class was fun. No tests, just weekly assignments and a lot of discussions. She is a great teacher and you can tell she is a good person. She's not always the best at responding to emails, but that's okay. Just show up to class and do the work and you're golden.
She was great!! I loved her. Class was once a week for the most part. Presentation that lasts the semester and weekly assignments. I learned a lot from this class. I would recommend it to others for sure!
I loved this Psych 101 class. The lectures are interesting and she really does a good job at breaking topics down so you can understand them. However study as much as you can, tests can be tricky if you don't take the class seriously. She also has the psych credits where if you do extra experiments or written papers your grade can go up a ton.
She's a great professor in my opinion solely because she keeps the class interested. However, you MUST study in order to pass this class, she gives a lot of notes!
She gives lecture notes which you basically add to by listening to the examples in class. Attendance is not mandatory but it will seriously help you on the exam because of the examples she gives. She also gives extra credit so getting an A is pretty reasonable.
Funny professor, but the tests are somewhat challenging. You have dozens of pages of notes packed into 28questions, and since you do not need some of the info covered in class, it is frustrating having to read all of it. Alot of the test scores get messed up and incorrectly graded to your disadvantage, and they make it very hard to get it corrected.
I really like her But her tests are way to hard im averaging a 55, and probably am gonna fail. I go to every single class and read the book and study. Still no hope here
Tests are ridiculously hard. She gives you over 20 pages of notes to study but tests are only 28 questions. I studied almost 8 hours for a test and got a 55 on it because there was too much information. She was a good teacher but definitely not an easy class. Attendance not mandatory but if you don't go to class you most likely won't pass.
Honestly, she's a great professor but your overall grade is based off of a total of five tests and that's it. Attendance is great but if you go to class and don't study, you will fail. You literally HAVE to study to get a good grade in this class (not just some craming bs) but actually study a week prior!! She's great but her exams are tricky!
all of her slides are in the book, but she does not have everything written on the slides, so going to class should make it easy to pass. She sometimes gives extra credit for attendance. there are 5 tests with pretty short intervals. they are non-cumulative, no final
She is so nice and helpful. She prefers to take attendance sometimes. However, her exams are though and all your grades are depend on your exams. All notes are listed so you just need to remember everything.
Awesome professor, keeps class interesting. You need to work hard to get a good grade. Grades based solely on 4-5 exams that are only 28 questions. Need to study and take it seriously or you will not pass any of them. Start studying days in advance, don't bother cramming the day before. Had to learn that the hard way...
Shira Gabriel is a great hilarious professor. She knows how to get and keep her student's attention. Her notes simple and clear, mostly from the book but during lectures, she will usually give additional information and tips which are very likely to appear on the exams so attendance is recommended. She also gives extra credit which is nice!
HILARIOUS professor. loved her so much and is so good at presenting the information. however, if you don't dedicate lots of time to studying or go to class, there is no way you can pass. it's a lot of information and her exams are only 28 questions so you have to know your stuff. memorize everything learned &you will do fabulous! gives extra credit
Very funny teacher, keeps the class interested. She usually will let you out early and there are 5 exams each 28 multiple choice. As long as you study for them you will be fine. The experiment participations were annoying but simple.
Dr. Gabriel is an amazing professor. She grades clearly according to her syllabus, has a witty sense of humor, only gives exams. Her lectures are fun to go to, she gives "surprise" extra credit points based on attendance or an extra question on her test. Her class is extremely straightforward and interesting; highly recommend her for PSY101.
She is an amazing professor and is simply hilarious. This class is one I didn't mind going to because she is so great. Don't bother the textbook because the tests are straight from the lecture notes. It is a lot of info on the test so study literally everything. They are tricky sometimes and since it's so much, you can easily confuse things.
I absolutely loved having her as a professor. Her slides are clear and she's great at explaining everything. You definitely don't want to skip- you could miss something important. She's hilarious and you can tell she really loves what she does and knows her stuff. If you study, you're basically guaranteed an A. If not, exams will kick your ass.
Easy class if you put effort in it. No need for reading the textbook but the notes are extremely important, must go to class. If you feel like that you are missing the note, get to the TAs and get help. The rote method works for the course. Memorize the ALL the notes!!!!
She is without a doubt the best professor at UB. She is very interesting to listen to and has so much knowledge. Her exams are easy if you study and go to lecture. 5 exams, she drops the lowest one. She made her own notes in the textbook from bookstore that are very helpful. If you need to take psy101 take her. You will not regret it.
This class is an easy A, A- you get note packets which you basically just add onto when she gives examples in class. Definitely know the examples for the exam cause they are usually tested. You get 5 exams and you drop the lowest grade, there is also extra credit so getting an A is pretty easy.
I loved her class so much, I honestly would take it again. The grading was perfectly clear and her tests are based solely on the lectures. The lecture notes are from a "textbook" online, which you have to purchase. The class was really easy and the experiments were interesting. Definitely take this class and read over the notes, you'll get an A.
Dr. Gabriel made my intro to psychology worthy of my time, she's quirky and is willing to answer questions during and after lecture. Definitely a class where paying attention during lecture and taking detailed notes is a MUST to pass.
Absolutely love this professor! She makes lectures so fun and enjoyable! No homework for this class but make sure to show up and take notes! Easy to do well as long as you put in the effort! She's my favorite professor by far. Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!
She is simply an amazing professor and I would take her class again if I could. She is very funny and very informative. I learned so much from her, and she loves to teach it. The class flew bye and I loved it. YOU NEED THE TEXT BOOK. There are five tests, lowest grade is dropped. They are based off of the section you read/go over in class.
Gives you all the notes, but a lot of her tests come from what she says in lectures
Funny class. It flies by because the content is interesting and she's very easy to learn from. No homework, but tests are hard so you need to study study study. Take good notes in addition to the notes she gives you.
I loved Garbiel; she's hilarious and her lectures are engaging. One of the few classes I enjoyed going to. She gives 5 exams and it's essential you study or you won't pass, as the tests are very specific. I would recommend going to class or you won't have the specific information that's on the tests. I would definitely take her again
This class isn't that bad. You have 5 tests, she drops the lowest one. With the extra credit you get bumped up a grade (if you have a B to a B+). The tests are rough though. You don't necessarily have to go to class or pay attention , even if you study a couple nights before you should still be able to pull off an okay grade. Except to study.
SHE'S AMAZING, MUST TAKE HER. LOVED HER LECTURES. she's very passionate, and funny. 5 exams, drops 1, and that's your grade. Tests are very specific and can be pretty hard sometimes, but just study hard. start your experiments early, do more for extra credit. MUST go to lectures, exams based on her examples. makes psych easy to understand.
Fun teacher who wants to engage class and truly is a fantastic lady. Use your phone in class or talk during lecture and she will gladly call you out in front of the class and kick you out, its quite funny actually. Test were ok, sorta hard. there are 5 all averaged together with the lowest one being dropped. other reqs. not many and VERY EASY
Dr. Gabriel definitely knows her stuff. She is very funny and she takes her classes seriously - people don't goof off. It just doesn't happen. She very clearly conveys the course information and is a good person to teach an introductory psych class. The exams are hard. You cannot do well by cramming at the last minute. I loved her class though.
Prof. Gabriel is hilarious. Lectures were fun and interesting. Tests are easy if you go to class and read her lecture notes. Textbook was useless but her lecture notes are must have. All the questions on the test are from the notes. Pay attention in class cause there are tricky questions on the test that she only mentioned once in class. Take it.
Be ready to take good notes. Her lectures are really engaging + interesting and super crucial to doing well in the exams. However, she drops the lowest exam grade and there are a few opportunities for extra credit available. Highly recommend.
Loved this class bc of professor. Makes each lecture interesting, funny and engaging. Tests require lots of studying of details. Provides excellent examples in lecture and I've learned more in this class than any class so far. Would love to have this professor again.
Exams are very specific so you need to memorize a lot but if you do you'll get a 100
Professor Gabriel was a great professor. After the first test I though I was going to fail the class but I realized all it took was a decent amount of time studying for tests. If you study, you will do very well. I found the lectures to be surprisingly entertaining. If you are a serious student here at UB you will pass this class with flying colors
Favorite professor I've ever had. Really interesting lectures and pretty funny. She really loves what she does and I'd 10/10 recommend her.
The best professor at UB!! Would take her class again if I could. She makes class interesting. Always go to class and make sure you take notes. The way her notes are set up help a lot. All you have to do is re read your notes and book a few times and you will pass her exams with flying colors. It is obvious she loves what she does.
Going to this class is like going to a comedy show. Not because shes funny like everyone thinks but because her tests are a joke. 100s of terms and 30+ pages of notes just for a 27 question, multiple choice test.
I was pretty scared about taking this class given some of the reviews. In all honestly, Shira makes this class very interesting and easy. Exam questions are extremely straightforward and you do not need to memorize everything. Just understanding the material will have you finishing her exams within 10 minutes. You absolutely must attend classes.
Her 27 multiple choice test are based on 40 pages of notes. She expects you to remember the littlest of details. Only take her if you are going to go over your notes everyday.
She uploads the slides online, but she leaves many blanks, like the notes are just what would be at the top of a slide leaving you to fill in the bulk of the information. It is good to go to class anyways as she gives extra credit for attendance. The textbook isn't needed if you take thorough notes though. Only 5 tests and drops the lowest grade.
Best prof ever, she was absolutely hilarious. Llots of things on the test were examples used in class so ay attention to her stories. Overall easy if you study a little and go to class.
Great professor, would highly recommend her! Super funny and keeps lectures interesting. There are 5 exams and she drops the lowest one. Some test questions are very specific, be sure to pay attention in class.
Great professor. Even though attendance isn't mandatory make sure you go because she will mention things that will be on the test that aren't in the notes. Don't put off studying till right before the test because there are 20-25 pages of notes that you have to read. No homework and no final. Extra credit is given. Lowest exam gets dropped.
She. Is. Amazing. If I could take this class every semester for the rest of my college experience I would. Dr. Gabriel is AMAZING! Everything on the test come straight out oft the lecture. She allows 3 points extra credit RIGHT ON TO YOUR FINAL GRADE! I love her, by far the best professor I've ever had!
I LOVE DR GABRIEL. Prof Gabriel is such an entertaining prof. She made me laugh everyday in lecture. Tests are pretty easy, but definitely study. It's easy to get interested in psychology with a professor like her, and if you go to all the lectures and study for tests you will definitely get an A. Also gives ex cred for just showing up to class
Dr. Gabriel was an awesome professor. Paying good attention in class alone should be enough to get a 60% on an exam, the rest is just studying. She's very lively in class and quite funny. I find it hard not to listen to her because she's just that great! Take her, you won't regret it! Oh and lot's of extra credits!
Gabriel's strict but hilarious and cares about the class doing well. You'll do 5 tests, she drops the lowest, and you have a chance to earn extra credit by doing researches. So much on the test is from the lectures, so show up and come on time or you wont do well. You don't need to read/buy the textbook but the notes you can buy are super helpful
She's funny, interesting, and perfect in my book. Her printed notes are incomplete so make sure to elaborate on them with her examples/stories/clarifications in class otherwise you'll miss out on a lot of info for the exams. Easy A and a class that's actually interesting makes me wish I was a psyche major.
Amazing professor for the material. She's very intelligent and humorous and keeps the attention of the class very well. Just 5 multiple choice exams and you can drop the lowest one. Would highly recommend her for this class.
Professor Gabriel made class really fun and material interesting to learn. She gives random extra credit on tests for showing up. Attendance isn't mandatory but she teaches pretty much to the test so it'll really help you get the grade you want. Her class was never boring so you might even want to go!
Great teacher. Her tests are heavy on her lecture slides/notes, so do what you're supposed to do and you'll pass. Easy A and very fun class.
Great professor. Go to class, take notes and youll get an A.
Professor Gabriel provides a packet of notes divided into each exam (5) when you buy her text book and her lectures are extremely useful to fill them out and understand. The class' grade is based on 5 exams and the lowest grade is dropped. Over all, she is an amazing professor and makes the material very interesting. She is also hilarious! love her
Study harder than you think you ever would have to. Tests are ridiculously specific. This isn't "Common sense"; this is memorizing every word that comes out of the professor's mouth for a chance to do decently on tests. You don't learn psychology, you memorize the percentages and the very specific numbers and percentages discussed in famous studies
You really need to dedicate yourself when taking her class. A lot of the material is memorization from class lectures and her note sheets from her textbook. There are 5 exams and 1 of your lowest is dropped (only thing you are graded on). Also she will randomly throw out extra credit points to people that show up to class. She was also pretty funny
Good professor, but the lecture notes have a lot of content so you should start to read it at least a week before the test. Otherwise, you won't get good score on the exam. And the best strategy for get good score on exam is just review little each everyday.
Great professor! Her lectures are interesting and she gives examples that make the content relatable and easily understandable. Your grade is 5 exams, but she drops the lowest one. Random extra credit is given too! Tests are VERY specific so be prepared to study all of the material in the notes.
AMAZING. If you're tired of boring lectures, TAKE GABRIEL'S PSYCH 101 CLASS (and I assume any of her other classes). She keeps me entertained and engaged for the ENTIRE hour and 20 minutes, which is impressive. She's seriously funny and her lectures are so fascinating & will blow your mind. Very specific tests, though, so take detailed notes!!!!!!
A very good professor! She gets the point across while still making class fun. Show up to all of her classes because sometimes she gives extra credit for being there (on time).
Overall great teacher, even though class is huge still manages to keep students engaged. I would recommend sitting towards the front in this class though. She gives 5 tests and drops the lowest, however five tests is not a lot for how much material there is. Each test requires a decent amount of studying however if you put the effort in it pays off
Dr. Gabriel is so good. Attendance isnt required but you learn so much from the lectures and she tries to make them fun. No homework, textbook is required but really you only need the lecture notes to follow along with the PowerPoint. Tests are a little hard but mostly fair, its really all from the notes but she purposely words them hard.
She is a great teacher, and is very funny! She is super passionate and knows what she's talking about! Her tests are specific, so you do have to study a lot more and review more every day but other than that her class is very interesting if you genuinely want to be a psych major. She also gives you lecture notes!
Shira Gabriel is a really good teacher. She's passionate and she makes her lectures interesting. But what I didn't like about her class was that your grade is based on only 4 exams. It doesn't give a student the opportunity to do better. So you better be ready and be a great test taker. There's a lot of material to memorize.
Psych 101 was a good class. She explains the content very clearly and competently. Warning though: the only grades she gives are the tests, so make sure to study hard. I would also advise doing the extra credit, it's not that much work and it's definitely worth it. I got 3 percentage points on my whole final average.
Gabriel has to be my fav professor Ive ever taken. Funny lectures and keeps you genuinely interested in the subject. Attendance isn't mandatory but make sure you attend otherwise youll miss key notes thatll be on the exam. She bumps your grade up a whole letter grade if you do the extra credit. Exams are moderately hard, make sure yk all details.
Amazing professor, definitely became one of my favorites here at UB. Shes funny and interesting. She makes lectures an amazing time and knows how to relate it to us. I really liked that the textbook came with the lecture outlines so it gave us a good balance of listening and writing down notes. Highly recommend over the other PSY101 professors.
Poor at explaining material. If you didnt hear her say something the first time, you wont get the answer right on the exam. Final grade only based on tests and studies. Would not recommend
Very engaging! There was never really a dull moment and she always made her lectures interesting. Definitely pay attention, this class is memory based and understanding the topics. Five exams but one is dropped (if you did good on the first four you don't have to take the final), extra credit is a thing, don't leave the labs till the last minute!
she is absolutely hilarious. she is my favorite professor i've had so far and 10/10 recommend her course.
Interesting and interactive class even though it was about 400 students. One of my favorite classes by far but you have to go and get your notes.
Dr. Gabriel is an amazing professor and is very engaging. However, you MUST take good notes and study in order to do well in her class. There are only 5 exams but the lowest exam score is dropped. You also must participate in research for credit. There are also a few extra credit options that can really increase your grade.
TAKE HER IF YOU CAN. Drops so many tests.
Dr. Gabriel is great! She drops many grades and gives extra points on tests. I would highly recommend taking her class if you can. When I would compare my work load and quiz sets ups with my friends that had other psychology professors, her's was definitely the easiest and most clear.
Long lectures but she makes it funny and interesting. Gives great examples to help you understand the material better. There is an easy quiz question based off of each lecture. There is a test every couple of weeks, very easy in my opinion since its online. Got mostly 80-100 on tests would've gotten higher if i read the textbook lol.
I never met Dr. Gabriel in person (due to covid), but she was super kind. We only met for online zoom review sessions where she couldn't be nicer. Her class consisted of biweekly online lecture videos followed by submitting a response (only a few sentences). The lectures are a bit hard to get through but the tests are open notebook so it evens out.
Professor Gabriel is the best! Explains concepts very well in lectures online and really wants her students to do well. Extra credit if you do 12 experimental credits (9 are required to pass course). Exams are very lecture heavy, take good notes and study and you will do fine. She is a good professor to have for PSY 101!
Lectures were around an hour but she always made them interesting i looked forward to watching them. Drops the lowest exam grade which helps your grade a ton. Exams were open note and about the lectures content. One of my fav profs and fun class
She is the least understanding teacher I know, Ive never met a women like her!! You are given 1 minute per questions on tests so if you had 10 questions you would have 10 minutes but then gives you the worlds most complicated worded questions. For students like me who struggle with learning disabilities just accept the F at this point like I did.
Don't take PSY 101 with her. The other professor's exams aren't as hard. She finds a way to make it hard by giving questions that always have more than one answer, so you choose the "best answer" even if the others have right. I have studied for these exams, and I still get 75-80 on them because there are only 20 questions and only 20 minutes too,
As Psychology being my major I was very excited to take this class. I reached out to her and she did not help me, I have even emailed her previously and have gotten no response. Her lectures take hours to do and don't end up helping me on exams. You also don't have a final so there's a ton of work to do for a 20 question exam, then you can forget.
She assigns two 45 lectures to watch every two weeks and gives you the notes to fill in so the quizzes are straightforward and open book. Highly recommend. You have to do research requirements but if you do them online, it takes a quick 10 mins to get a credit. Never used the book, only tested on the notes. Highly recommend.
She is absolutely hilarious, you can tell she loves her job and the field of psychology. Even being an online class, I looked forward to watching her lectures. Lectures are about 50 minutes (2 of them each week) The exams are open note, drops the lowest grade.
Professor Gabriel is extremely fair, and the workload was very light with two 50 minute lectures a week, and a 20 question quiz (she called exam) like every other week. You have 20 minutes for 20 question which is plenty of time if you actually know the material. Would definitely recommend her course.
My biggest mistake was participation. I had a big online class, so I didn't see Dr. Gabriel at all, just the TAs. Just watched through the recorded lectures and took notes. Tests were pretty easy, just study the notes. Didn't use the textbook, the content is just in the recorded lectures. Make sure you participate in the activity sessions!
genuinely not a nice person. The class was simple but the professor was extremely unhelpful. She was not the least bit understanding. I do not recommend!!
Besides difficult tests with confusing question, the class (prerecorded lectures) were easy to follow and not bland or boring. Gabriel is respected and knows what she's talking about. The class can be a pain because it is asynchronous, but overall she is not a bad professor.
Homework is easy and straightforward. Lectures are always interesting and fun. By far my favorite professor.
Unaccessible, she defers everything to her TA's. Her exams have multiple errors and are hard to read. Think you know the right answer cause you don't you have to answer the exam questions based on her teaching not actual facts. She thinks she is a gift to mankind because she is president of some mental health thing. My dog is smarter than her.
She is very nice however, she tends to go very fast during the lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she randomly gives extra credit at the beginning of some lessons, so I wouldn't recommend skipping.
Professor Gabriel's tests actually test your knowledge of the subject. Her classes aren't mandatory, however she teaches with a lot of passion and knowledge it makes learning the subject so much easier being there. Easy homework, plenty of etra credit, very caring of students, always makes up on tests if anything goes wrong.
I loved her, she was very nice and you can tell she's passionate about what she's teaching. Cracks a couple jokes. She goes really fast with her lecture slides so keep up. Research requirement, 9 required, 3 more for extra credit. Gives extra credit on random days for going to class too. Timed exams, open notes but one minute per question.
This class is great there are 5 easy exams. You will be fine if you buy the notes and jot down extra things she says in class. She gives tons of extra credit but make sure you attend the lectures. There is also simple HW assignments for every lecture. Enjoyed this class, actually learned stuff, she makes it engaging w videos and stories
Enjoyed professor and course; however exams were often difficult and based wholly on lectures rather than book -- one could receive an "A" or higher in the course without even looking at the book, while relying on the book often relies in failed sections. Many exam questions are based on lecture-specific comments. Hilarious professor, enjoyable.
Dr. Gabriel is absolutely excellent. Great at teaching, very fun lectures, and PSY101 is very easy if you come to lectures, take a few notes, and do the very quick homeworks. If you study a bit and ctrl+f your notes when you're unsure on a test you'll get an A. Take this class if you want a good pathway. Textbook is NOT necessary to do well.
Dr. Gabriel is amazing and as long as you watch the lectures and copy down everything she says into a document, you'll ace the exams. Yea watching the lectures and copying everything down is tedious but its basically the only real work you have to do. Ended up with over a 100 with extra credit. Dr. Gabriel is the goat
Love Gabriel, learned a bit in a class. Very notes heavy, and the pre-class notes are behind a paywall. Homeworks are quick and easy, however Gabriel has always made class fun to be in, throwing in things to keep our interest. Mid-semester to the end she ends class 30 min early, and the exams are all open notes.
I absolutely loved Dr. Gabriel. Her lectures were engaging and interesting. Her tests are ALL open notes and you can take them pretty much anywhere as long as you begin taking it at the start of lecture. As long as you take notes and attend class, its an easy A. After taking this class, it honestly made me change to a more psychology-driven major.
Professor Gabriel makes PSY101 engaging and fun. Open-note exams and easy homeworks mean you can do well by taking thorough lecture notes. Unstuckstudy is a great study tool alongside the textbook. Definitely recommend this class!
Very funny and in touch with students. Enjoyed her class so much. The exams can be difficult so it is important not to underestimate them and to take good notes. Textbook has all the info on the slides so youre not rushing trying to write down everything. Loved this class and would definitely recommend taking her
A professor who truly loves teaching. She is sweet and makes it interesting. Only professor who ever made a T/Th class bearable/enjoyable. Easy homework. Tests are all online and not too difficult. I would 100% recommend taking her class.
She's one of my favorite professors I've ever had. She makes lectures really funny and interesting. I learned a lot. She's super sweet and cool. Great teacher.
She is one of the top professors at UB in my opinion! Every lecture she brought her upbeat personality and passion for the subject, which made coming to class worth it even though we technically didn't have too. Would 100% recommend taking any of her courses. She is very straightforward in her rules and how notes and exams are taken.
Attendance wasn't mandatory, so I mostly watched the lectures online. Very easy to do well if you take notes on the lectures since her tests are open note, and she does a really great job of making things as interesting as possible.
Take psych101 with her!!!! Attendance isn't required. No midterm or final, only 5 exams and all of them are open note and can be done from any location. Lowest grade is dropped. All her lectures are recorded and posted on UBLearns. Would recommend!!!
This professor was sooo funny. She always made her lectures interesting and cracked jokes. All her lectures get recorded, and her notes get posted in the textbook. Sometimes her lectures are fast, but you get used to it (& she ends early). Her tests were hard at first, but then I got used to it and improved. She also offers a lot of extra credit.
Professor Gabriel was excellent, and her lectures were always fascinating and hilarious. It is definitely an easy A. Although the first exams are a bit difficult, you get used to them, and they are easy. As long as you pay attention, watch the lectures, and re-read your notes, it is an easy A.
Professor Gabriel is such a good professor. Her lectures were very interesting. She gives extra credit for attendance 1 time for each exam. The exams are hard. I bombed the first one but I understood the format for the next 4 exams. She drops your lowest grade so it's fine. There is extra credit for the experiments. Homeworks are easy.
She is such a funny and caring professor. It is super lecture heavy and the test format can be really tricky. Your lowest test score is dropped, which is very helpful! Don't take this course if you are under 18. You are required to complete 9 hours of PSY experiments. If you're not 18 you can't consent and must complete 9 written reports instead.
10/10 recommed she funny ngl
The course itself is fairly easy, and you get extra credit sometimes (if you show up to class) so that brings your grade up.
Loved PSY101 with Gabriel. Insanely friendly and easy to talk to. Super engaging lectures and a very interesting subject, you can tell she really cares. Mostly easy exams with some confusing questions. Attendance is optional but I highly recommend going. She'd Cameo people on the Bills to give us words of encouragement, she's the goat.
I would recommend Professor Gabriel bc she is a very caring professor that is funny and makes lectures interesting. Do NOT skip class, even tho its optional. Tests are HARD. Even though the lowest out of the 5 exams gets dropped, you should still strive for a good grade, this involves going to lectures and taking neat and organized notes.
I enjoyed this class so much & would absolutely recommend enrolling with this professor if you can. She made the lectures very interesting and has a good sense of humor. All exams were open note/open book, the online assignments were very quick and easy to complete, and the research requirements weren't bad at all.
She is such a nice professor who is passionate about what she teaches. She cares very much about her students. I love her and will miss class with her.
It's very easy to understand her lectures however, if you don't go to class you won't pass the tests. Other than that she's very funny highly recommend
funny as fork
