She is a horrible teacher and the tests are really hard and unclear.
I thought she was a good teacher, but you better have the home work done before class or she will really get on you. Too much group work
She is harder than hell, but you will learn. Have your homework ready. If you try hard, you will respect her as a great teacher.
Extremely difficult, but you will learn the material well. This lady taught me how to study. Just do your homework or she'll bite your head off.
VERY difficult, but you will learn the material well and she know the material well. Do not be afraid to ask her questions after class. This lady taught me how to study. Just do your homework or she'll bite your head off.
The material itself is very difficult. She makes most of it easy to understand. Make sure you read the material and do the homework before class or you will not have an easy time. Also she writes great notes on the board so copy EVERYTHING she writes!
The worst teacher I ever had. She is nice to the ACC 108 students, but 218 forget it. Tests were crazy, her attitude was bad. She told me to pick another career instead of accounting. I am glad I didn't listen to her, since I am a cpa now.

If you ask a question, you get the old "I don't know what else to tell you guys, it's all right here in the book!" Gee thanks for the help. Terrible teacher, material is tough and she's not much help. If you take her, I hope you like teaching yo
I think she is a very good teacher. If you want to be an accountant then she is the teacher to get. Make sure you do all the homework. Accounting is a hard subject but I think she does a great job clarifying it.
a terrible, terrible accounting teacher, she expects you to know everything about accounting just by reading the text in the book, when you ask her a question her response is " it's in the book" What are teachers for if we could find all the answ
i couldnt stand her
holly**** this is a hard class but she makes it a lil easier you just have to pay attention and really study the material. the tests are exremely hard and they deal soley with concepts
HORRIBLE! No other word to discribe her! Class average is 40% and she doesn't care. You can study as much as you want and still woll not pass. The only ones passing are SECOND time students! She treats you like an idiot, and is NOT helpful. She needs to retire!
She is a horrible teacher. If you ask a question she'll say "Its all right there in the book, why are you asking me?" She treats you like you're suppose to know everything before taking the class. She is a very hard teacher. Do not take her.
Just gets harder and harder and she doesn't try at all to keep you up to speed. i had to withdraw and take again with another teacher. do not take her. very bad.
hope you like getting insulted! She is just waiting to retire. That is what she told my class! "it's in the book" and "I can't make you learn" are her only answers to all questions. She has never been an accountant, only a accounting teacher. maybe that's why she can't answer any questions in class.
Considering I had a history of Accounting this class was somewhat easy for me without listening to her. Her grading made me who took all four tests get a worse grade then if I would have skipped one. She is hard for beginners so I would avoid her if you have no accounting knowledge
No Comments
people knock this teacher but if you buy the exercise book she takes question right out of there on the test.everyone complains but she makes you earn your grade.also just plug the stuff into the caliculator like i did.i love her outfits.i recommend her she cool
She is a horrible teacher She doesnt help you at all she just goes like she is in a race to get you out of there. the average time we spent in her class in a half hour. Dont plan on passing the class if glass is you teacher she cannot teach all she can do is read out of the book
Let me dispel a few negative comments here. I took the class, with no prior knowledge of accounting, and got an A. It was not my second time taking the class. This is what I did: I read the book, took good notes, and studied the day before the test. That's it! Later!
Glass is by far the worst prof ever. She does'nt help students at all.I even went to her after hours re: ?'s & she said if I can't understand the concepts then maybe I should'nt major in Acct.I found that very insulting, for I am currently in Acct 219 & have gotten Bs in all of my other Acct classes.
Very unpleasant, arrogant, test were very tricky.
Horrible!!! She does not explain a thing. Prepare to be insulted! I changed my major because of her.
She isn't qualified to teach on any level! She is the worst teacher that I have ever had and I've had some bad teachers. From a professional standpoint she really makes the whole college look bad.
I took this lady for 1 day and realized she wasn't going to be any good. So I dropped the class and took it at Wayne State, where I got a B. After reading some of these comments I'm glad I didn't stick with her. She wasn't very helpful nor was she very informative. And this was on the first day!
Mrs. Glass is very strict but not impossible. You must be ready to pay attention, take notes and study for tests. If you do these things, you can certainly get an A or a B depending on how much time you put it. You have to work on the subject though. Overall the class is reasonable and the teacher is ok but dont expect E.C. or pity. Class is Fair.
This is to all those that have given Mrs. Glass a bad rating. Accounting is a system of checks and balances. If you can't handle it stay out of the kitchen. Mrs. Glass is doing the world a favor by discouraging students that can't handle it. Get into the real world people...this lady is easy compared to what you will face.
Ms. Glass may be strict and challenging in here methods of teaching. But if you love accounting and you can make it out of her class with an A. Then its truly what you want to be. Because if you can't pass her then stay out of the occupation.
Trust me, an online instructor is more helpful than she is.
Prof Glass is a fantastic teacher. Just because she doesn't sugarcoat anything (hello to the real world everyone) doesnt mean that her explanations aren't thourough. If you're lazy and not interested in keeping up with your work, you'll fail. She completly sets you up for the next accounting class. I really recomend her.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!
Read the book, Do the homework, make an effort. This teacher is the best I've had. Professor Glass doesn't treat you like a 3rd grader. the chapters are divided into 2 classes, first class is introduction to the chapter, second is problems and examples. If you like to be challenged and don't need a teacher to pat you on the head, she rocks.
She honestly is a bad professor. She can not teach for the life of her. She needs to slow down a whole lot and not pick on people. I hated her and so did everyone else. Almost the whole class dropped or withdrew from it and when talking to my classmates every single one of them had a problem with her. She is horrible. NEVER TAKE HER.
Prof Glass prepares you for the real world. I'm glad she doesn't candy coat things because the real work force isn't candy coated its a lot harder. And I have her to thank for preparing me well.
Everyone does not have a masters in acct.!!!
she is not helpful and does not answer questions, she makes you feel stupid for asking a question,if you cant understand the consept by just reading the chapter you are DOOMED!does not teach, she doesn't explain she just checks homework, she is also rude to people that english is their second language, says they shouldnt be in the class!RUDE
I have taken ACCT 1080 b4 & dropped. I have a B now & were almost done. If you do the assignments & read the chapters you'll understand what her lectures about, if not it's you own fault come prepared. The best Accounting Professor. She explains everything well and is more than willing to help if she sees that your making the effort to learn.
Horrible teacher. She is never in the class room when you need help. And she is out to get everyone. Shes constantly telling you that your going to fail the course.
Not helpful at all, does not properly go over assignments, or answer questions. Expects everyone to already have a high understanding of accounting, even though it is a begining class.
I do not know why she is still an instructor? There is no lecturing to speak off. She just expects you to know the stuff!
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER! she has mental problems, plus screams at you for just asking a question. no reviews of help for test. This lady need to retire or be fired! she makes people never want to take accounting again! MCC please remove this teacher from your accounting program, spare the future CPAs!
She is terrible!! Expects us to understand what we read the nite before when we walk into class. Doesnt like to answer questions without making you feel stupid. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
She can be intimidating, but if you don't try to act like a real punk, you should do fine. DO THE HOMEWORK! If you have questions ask! Even take her tutoring session. Her demeanor is completely different from her class sessions. This lady knows her stuff.
This woman is terrible...I think there are only about 4 people in my class right now who are actually passing and we only have 1 test left. It's not for lack of trying, quite a few of us get together and study, and still do terrible on her tests, seems like the tests are half trick questions. Avoid this woman at all cost!!!
She teaches more of a self taught type class. But if you are serious about your education and you come prepared she is excellent. She is not there to hold your hand, but If you are professional about your education she is excellent. Its not an easy class, but she knows her accounting and if your willing to put the effort in you will do very well.
I'd consider this a class more for people who want to go into accounting. If you just need the class as a requirement, I'd look elsewhere. She doesn't provide a ton of lecture or help, but if you keep up with the homework and have a decent understanding of the concepts you should be fine.
Tests are confusing because she teaches and emphasizes certain sections in text and gives tests on sections that were not well explained. She does not care if students fail and does not worry about it.
If you do the homework and take the four hours you will do fine and she always lets you out atleast 46 min early
she doesn't lecture, she will go over some of the hw problems after collecting your hw and also would help if you ask her questions but if it's a stupid question or she expects you to know what your asking because you went over it many times she will get upset. Tests are very confusing. She gives a worksheet to do as a review doesn't collect it.
No question that Professor Glass understands accounting. She just has a real problem relating that knowledge to her students. She will make you feel "uncomfortable" if you ask a question "she thinks" you should know. I wish I would have found this website earlier, because I would have never taken her. I am still trying to get the smell out.
GOOD LUCK!
She is not helpful.
First day of class she told us "her job was not too teach us the lessons" and that was pretty dead on. She gave homework and collected it.. no lectures. Horrible prof. who left students on their own all semester. I somehow passed the class.. but still wouldn't recommend it to anyone
OK, If you have taken a acct. class before in high school or what not, she is the one for you. If you have NEVER once had accounting, I would sugget someone else. She does not teach, or lecture. You have to figure it out on your own, which for some students (including me) was very difficult. Be Careful.
Professor Glass is VERY STRICT. She is fair and you can do well if you're prepared. She is OLD SCHOOL... but she is kinda out of touch with today's students. I know she doesn't wanna take crap, but she could be nicer - and she doesn't make herself very available to answer questions.
If you are looking for a helpful teacher, someone who is willing to answer students' questions and work with them, this is NOT the one for you. Her lectures are very brief and expects students to understand concepts thoroughly. She collects homework randomly and her grading is heavily based on just the exams. I like the subject but not this teacher
Professor Glass, knows accounting, unfortunately she does not know how to teach it. She thinks because she knows it, the students should know. If the students knew it they wouldn't be in her class. She has a nasty attitude. Students have complained, but she is still teaching at MCC. I would not recommend anyone to go to Macomb Community College!!
I had her for 1080 and 1090. She's a great teacher and really cares about her students. Yes, her class is hard but it's accounting.. it's completely different than any other type of class. If you pay attention and DO ALL OF THE HOMEWORK you will do fine.
She is hard. You must be in every class or you will be lost. She does not make it easy to ask questions--puts people down for doing so...I hated this class--I wish I had taken another teacher, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad
She is a very good instructor if you do your work. This isn't high school so come prepared to ask questions about things you don't understand.
Prof Glass is the best. I had her for 1080, 1090 and 2270. Yes she is hard but acct is something that you have to understand for yourself and isnt as easy as reading a book. It takes practice to understand. If you are truely interested in ACCT I would highly reccomend her
if you don't read the book you're screwed! she does not teach you, or explain the material in depth enough to do the homework you are on your own. take it at center campus!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or pick a new major!
This is one useless instructor too busy with her own life to help a student. Her response is always to ask a fellow student for the answer.
She seems like she doesn't care about the students at all. She doesn't explain things well at all. She gets impatiant when she answers any questions you may have. All in all a bad teacher.
I don't know why there are bad reviews about this teacher. This teacher is the most helpful teacher at Macomb. I got an easy A. The best teacher at Macomb.
This is by far the easiest Accounting teacher at Macomb and OCC. This class was fun and enjoyable. Her teaching methods are great. Would take this professor again.
I took Accounting 1080 with her and she was an amazing teacher. She cares alot about the students and wants them to succeed.
This was the best class I took. The teacher grades on a curve, which is very helpful for an Accounting class. It was pretty easy for me with this professor. Recommended
Very helpful and fun.
Best professor. Highly reccommended
Managerial accounting is usually hard but with this professor I got an easy A without trying hard. She goes out of her way to help her students. Very caring
Easy class.
She is horrible, she doent teach. lecture, answer questions or care. She insures that she has a job next year by failing almost everybody
If you like teaching yourself course material - then take her. Don't ask questions unless you like to be belittled. Every new chap - open book quiz - pretty easy- test aren't too bad, as long as you are a good teacher for yourself.
I had Shirley 30 years ago. I am currently a practicing CPA. She is tough, but good. At the time she was the only comm. college prof. that Walsh would accept credits for in intermediate accounting. You will do well on the tests if you understand the material in the text. She used to pull her test questions from the CPA exam.
She's doesn't teach. She gives you homework problems then solves them on the board in sloppy handwriting and doesn't give you a chance to ask questions, just makes you look like an idiot if you ask. Be prepared to teach yourself everything because she doesn't lecture, or give a crap if you understand it, she just doles out work. Good luck.
Professor Glass knows exactly what she is talking about unfortunately for the class she doesn't care to share that information. IF you ask a question be prepared for "it's in the book". She has been around forever and should have retired if she is this burnt out on teaching.
she is a smart lady who knows what she is talking about, and she makes you asks questions... about when you do that she makes you feel stupid.. shes someone that will make you feel like an idiot relly fast screw here i hope she nevers gets a class again.. my class started with 35 people how many people are felt.. 8! what does that tell you!!!
old school. will not give a thought to requests from students. puts to much emphasis on tests instead of doing projects within accounting
I really struggled in this class because mostly you have to almost self teach yourself the concepts of accounting using the book. All she really lectured on was homework assignments. She really needs to lecture BEFORE you get to the assigned homework. Also the exams were extremely difficult. I don't recommend her if you have a hard time grasping lots of content.
Professor Glass should retire. Would ask the class if they had any questions, then humiliate students by telling them to look at their textbook. We started off with over 20 people and ended up with 8. She seemed quite proud and told us it happened all the time. Obviously does not care about her students and is relying now on tenure. 2 thumbs down.
Why would you give students a homework assignment and spend the next class writing it out on the board? Explaining and working with students might be a better approach. Also, her negativity meant that two thirds of our class dropped out. Is the college paying ANY attention to the dismal ratings she has? Why not?
She is a horrible instructor she does not teach a lick of the materail and will make you feel stupid for asking questions. i did not listen to the rest of these comments piror to taking her and i regret it big time she should be fired not a good instructor at all.
Prof.Glass is a very straight forward teacher. Though i don`t feel she is very good at helping students when they ask questions. She almost belittles them. Nevertheless she is very good at explaining the homework problems and clearing things up. The accounting exams were not hard, and as long as you do your homework she is very easy to deal with.
Please retire and do future students at MCC a favor!
A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.
Accounting is a difficult subject matter to begin with so you look to your instructor for clarification and helpul examples..not from this woman. Don't even bother asking her a question in class she will belittle you and make you feel horrible for wasting her time with your ignorance. She doesn't teach..you teach yourself. She needs to go!
I really hate to talk bad about people especially if it could possibly cost them their job but honestly it's time for retirement. She knows her stuff now all she has to do is let her students know it to. I know you have to read the book but come on search up the the term TEACHER means!!!
She has a lot of accounting experience and while she explains the chapters well if you don't get it, then don't ask because when the kids asked questions she always asnwered the same way, its in the book. She told us all on day 1 that the best we could hope for was a C. Most of us were just happy to get the credit so we did not have to retake it.
She isn’t the best teacher or the worst. She does help you but also can make you feel you have asked a dumb question. She teaches backwards, you read the book and do the homework. You come to class and take a quiz, and then she explains the material. If you do the work and study, her test are very easy
Needs to go, honestly hopes she knows about this website so she can look her self up and know that she really isn't teaching anyone anything. All the good accounting teachers are at Center Campus. The class is really difficult make sure you do your research before you pick a teacher, you honestly shouldn't take her, not even for free you're welcome
I'm sinking quickly in this class. Prof. Glass doesn't attempt to clarify anything. Trust me save yourself and seek tutoring from the beginning if your "unlucky" enough to get her as your teacher. From day one she doomed us all to a "C." I've done well in all other classes except hers.
Ms. Glass, is the most difficult teacher I had at MCC, she makes students life a living hell. Nonetheless, she makes a hard class even harder, for those who don't like accounting!!
This class can be extremely hard. If you are going into accounting, then I would recommend taking her. If not then take someone else. If you spend a lot of time reading the book and paying attention in class it is possible to get an A. The majority of student fail or drop her class.
By far the worst teacher I have had at MCC. Several classmates expressed to her that not only was she difficult to follow, but that she belittled us and made us feel inadequate. I feel that if a student asks a teacher a question it shouldn't matter what the question is, it should be answered. She instead humiliates them, and refuses to answer.
Grading system is strange... She doesn't actually teach the material or lecture she only shows a few short exercises and expects you to know the material. All of the work she has the students due is straight from the text book publisher.
First day of class: introduction and syllabus reading. Second day: pop quiz, 10 minutes to complete, and yes it is counted towards your grade. Every Thursday there's a quiz. You have to study really hard to pas this test. I'd say if you take this class, don't take any other classes with this one. Only way you'll pass.
Professor Glass was not a very good teacher. Every time I asked for help she would complain that she'd already explain it and embarrass me in front of the class. Also her tests were very very tough.
Professor Glass is challenging because she expects you to LEARN THE MATERIAL. She lectures by going through exercises, so the way to pass is to familiarize yourself with the material before class, and to study and do additional practice after. She doesn't hold your hand, she makes you use your brain - the best professor I've had in a long time.
She only gives a couple problems but they are relevant problems. doesn't confuse you with appendix problems. You have to read and learn yourself but that is the nature of accounting. the test are right from the book. I loved her class and regret taking someoneelse for 1090 because he is aweful
Bottom line she doesnt teach and she doesnt give you the warm and fuzzies. You need to read the book& teach yourself. She is challenging because she makes the student do nearly all the work. If you have a hard time from the start you will struggle. If accounting is your strong suit & you do well with learning things right away , you will do fine.
If you take this class, make sure this is the only class you are taking. Started the class with approximately 25 students, now down to 8. She is an awful teacher. If you ask her for help, she will embarrass you in front of the class. Whatever you do, do not take this class if she's the professor.
Please for the love of god do NOT take this class. She doesn't know how to teach. Avoid at all cost
Hard class and she makes it even harder by not teaching. When you ask her a question she makes you feel dumb. You will be assigned homework every week that is expected to be completed before class, she'll give you the answers but doesn't explain anything. Horrible teacher, do not take unless you plan on teaching yourself accouting.
Expect to teach yourself this entire class. You have homework every night and long chapters to read. She only goes over the homework in class and that's it, so it makes for very short classes bu also not the most useful class. Average class time was about 45 minutes, so starting you're weekend at 9 AM on Thursday was never bad.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. She has not made it to the 21st century with the way she teaches. Didn't learn a thing.
she's terrible. accounting is my major
100% attendance necessary, need to read the whole book and teach yourself, asking questions can be hard because she has a tendency to make you feel dumb. Does not go over information thoroughly, making tests very difficult and hard to understand.
I'm glad she doesn't make her class easy like most MCC teachers, I want to actually learn something when I spend my time and money on a class. Don't take if you're looking for a free ride, do take if you want a teacher who will challenge you to actually learn something new, or master a subject.
Tried many times to get help from her and she told me to seek help else were. When it came to that time I was then discouraged, yelled at, and embarrassed for not completing the assignments as she expected. Let's you out of class after 20-35 minutes (scheduled 2 hour class). Would not recommend to anyone who struggles with math.
Hated her and her class. She didn't really teach, just gave you the assignments to learn to do on your own & then she would go over them the next class. It was pretty much a self taught class. She writes in cursive & abbreviated on the board so you can't read anything. Not much help with the work. Doesn't collect homework so instead it's quizzes.
Didnt really learn anything at all, just book reading
Best Prof I've had so far between university & community college. Course helps you determine whether you really want to be an accountant. Tests are challenging due to the somewhat confusing wording but she does give extra credit that can make up for those points missed. Homework & group work is collected but an easy A that helps boost overall grade
She never actually taught anything, just goes over the homework that she assigns. She makes you learn everything on your own and claims that " It's to make you use your brain". I did fine but I put in woooork. I give no credit to the professor for my good grade.
All she does is go over the homework and gives you a few examples to do. If you have questions on what your reading, she won't help you. She will laugh at you and tell you that you should've read the chapter. Avoid at all costs
worst teacher ever. avoid at any and all costs
Professor Glass is a tenured, condescending, stern woman, who gives little direction, and expects you to teach yourself. I struggled immensely with assignments given even after attending tutoring, lots of content covered over little time.
I learn more by watching you tube videos and going to tutoring than taking this class. This teacher will rather read the newspaper than nicely help her students. By far the worst teacher I have came across.
you essentially have to teach yourself the material, and then come in the next day just for her to pick it apart. I obviously was not learning anything with this method, so I would end up putting everything on the T charts backward. She told me to change everything around, so I did. I brought it up to her again and she still said it was backward.
She does ABSOLUTELY nothing to help you in the class. She reads a book or newspaper the entire class and goes over your homework, which doesn't help you understand the material. She has unfair tests and quizzes that will infuriate you. IT'S A TEACH YOURSELF CLASS that will make you study for HOURS. I got yelled at for asking questions too. AVOID!!!
I really do not understand the bad reviews. Unless she has changed her teaching style recently, these bad reviews are just slander. The lectures are perfect for the course, showing examples and telling you everything you need to know for tests. There is a lot of homework, but that will be the same in every accounting class.
She is ok but it is an accounting class so expect a lot of homework(even though they aren't graded). Basically teach yourself in this class and read the material before class, she doesn't answer questions in class she just says to email her with any questions after class. Study for quizzes and tests because that's the only thing she grades.
Taken during COVID19 as an online course meant to be on campus. Completely unprofessional. Our class was having issues getting our textbooks (access code required for homework) and when approached answered me with "Sorry but i can't help you." Didn't extend to help compensate for bookstore struggling with COVID19. Pick a different professor. Awful.
First class, syllabus day. Worst teacher Ive ever had
First class leaves a terrible impression that professor Glass would be terrible on lectures. Talks very slowly and repeats herself in untimely matters. Lectures would be a nightmare, look for someone else now.
