The class is easy, as is the material and the textbooks are a good read. It can sometimes take a while to get assignments graded, but it's understandable as Ms. Johnston seems to have a lot on her plate with working on her PhD. She is helpful and responds to emails rather quickly.

I took her online class and she is very clear on what she wants in assignments. two papers and a movie review and some response questions. You have to take notes while reading the chapters for the tests because the tests are a little touch. Overall great class and easy class to balance out some of the hard ones you have to take.

At the start of the semester, everything seemed fine, but then we didn't get a new assignment for weeks and heard nothing from the professor. Out of nowhere, she says the software was giving her problems and she dumps the whole course on us in one swoop. None of my other classes had software issues, just her. Terrible class. I want my money back.

Like the previous poster said, she had some "issues" with the new system. Oddly, none of my other online professors had any such problems. What really worries me is that I still don't have a grade listed for this class on the official CSN page, even though grades were due three days ago and I have them for my other three classes.

She didn't make her own tests, she treated it as an online class and when everyone was failing the online quizzes she didn't decide to change anything but do a curve and give us more chances to keep failing. learned NOTHING. and i got a B (no resentment). the movie reviews were the only thing worthwhile!

I love history, and I am extremely disappointed in this class. The tests rarely touched on what was read. Also the tests were very short compared to the reading that was required, 25 questions for 4 chapter that equaled 2 to 3 hundred pages. Also, she is more concerned witht the amount of words in the essays then the actual content.

Professor Johnston was great! Took her 8-week course and really enjoyed it! Consists of watching 5 videos and writing mostly 350 word discussion posts. Also had to write two papers on a book (given 2 weeks to do). A lot of work but plenty of time to do it. Most assignments did not take much time to do.

Easiest and most interesting class ever. 16wk, 4 modules each consisted of 5 videos to watch and write about. I printed the transcripts when they were available. 2 tests which were very easy. No textbook needed just a chapter book. I ordered it online for a dollar. She took awhile to grade assignments but that is my only complaint. Easiest A+ ever.

Professor Johnston is a fantastic instructor and her class is incredibly organized. There is a decent amount of work to be done, most of it consists of watching historical videos and taking enough notes to compile a discussion post. There isn't necessarily a textbook as she has opted for a novel. You have the ability to work ahead slightly.

If you dont mind typing papers each week then this is the class for you. It said that it was going to be a Tues/Thurs class but on the first day she told us we only had to come in one day. She does some powerpoints & talks a bit but for the most part you are just typing papers on your own time & she gives a topic for the paper weekly. Not too bad.

I have never seen a professor be so stern on grading for an irrelevant core class that simply wastes your time. Prepare to type 1500+ words a week with strict grading. Not to mention that you cannot use external sources for your papers and the professor forces you to watch 50+ minute MOVIES for each discussion. Pathetic and a waste of time.

He honestly gives you good feedback on the discussion posts (assignments). I got lucky, I think because he spaces out the work into units, four units total one every four weeks, and it's just watching a video and writing a discussion on it. 20/10 would take the class again

She doesn’t ask for much on essays, just show you understand it that’s all. Have balance cause it’s hard to BS essays since you have to watch one hr or 10 min vids
